Clocking Niobe is Agamemnon's grandmother adds a whoooole new layer of wtf to the preexisting MOUNTAIN of wtf that was Artemis being like "murder ur daughter or no sailing for u" @ Agamemnon in Aulis.

Per Homer's Iliad Niobe, for those unaware, was a queen who had 6 sons and 6 daughters. This led her to boast that her pussy game was way better than Leto, the mother of Apollo and Artemis, as she only had 2 kids to Niobe's 12.

As you may expect Apollo and Artemis were really normal about this and responded appropriately. Apollo killed all of Niobe's sons while Artemis killed all of her daughters in punishment. Niobe herself became a rock, forever weeping.

SO YEH. THAT'S FUN.

Now just imagining Agamemnon trying to pray to Artemis to maybe, uhhhhh, NOT make me murder my own child for ur special deer???

as for the understuck geno route; here's a loose plot path for it!

basically, the plan would be to have a split in how the route could theoretically go; a normal version of the route following close enough to undertale's canon events with the characters given, and a secret route for speedrunners because sollux deserves to have a proper battle at the chagrin of people trying to speedrun LOL

I was at a bookstore with a friend the other day and I was looking at a book in German that I was interested in buying, but then I saw that it was a translation and had originally been written in French

I commented idly to my friend "Sometimes I don't buy a book because it's a translation and I always prefer to read in the original language when possible" and she said in an agreeing-with-me way, "Yeah it would make more sense to read it in English"

and I realized she assumed I meant English when I said "original language"

but I couldn't bring myself to say "Yeah, or French or Dutch or Spanish or Italian or Portuguese or one of the other languages I read..." because like. who says that kind of thing.

#it's odd but i've suddenly been noticing a lot of people underestimating me lately #like i told a friend i was studying compsci/programming #and she started sending me like... links to absolute beginner 'how to start learning to code' resources #which of course is very sweet and i really appreciate her supportiveness!#so i certainly don't want to say 'lol i passed that point 10 years ago but thanks'#or my friends know perfectly well that i'm a language professional and have spent time studying many languages #but somehow they don't seem to make the connection that that translates into having actual abilities?#like i can piece together the meaning of a sentence in russian or chinese and they'll go 'wtf' like i'm a wizard or something #or i've mentioned a few times that i read for fun in various languages but that seems to just go in one ear and out the other for most folk #and they still can't conceive that i would read a WHOLE BOOK in a language that's not german or english #these are just two examples but i've seen it happen with several other things too #and i'm just... not sure how normal people handle this sort of thing?#how do you let your friends know what you're capable of without coming across as an arrogant prick #i'm not seeking approbation and so i don't tend to boast #but i think maybe i err too hard in the opposite direction?#maybe i've been accidentally implying all these years that i'm Very Amateur in all my interests/hobbies #i don't know how to strike a reasonable balance #but it does feel kind of. weirdly alienating. to suddenly realize most of my friends really don't Know me in this way #cosmo gyres #personal #tag rant #i guess what annoys me is that i'm very careful not to do this to others #if someone tells me about a certain interest or hobby of theirs i assume by default that they must know So Much about it #and if i dare to send them or suggest them anything i always preface it with 'you probably already know this but...'#or 'this may well be something that's painfully obvious to someone with your expertise but...'#and i would try to never make any statement or suggestion that implies i think they're at a low level in [whatever that thing is]#so it bothers me a bit when other people don't take the same consideration. i guess.#(not enough to do anything about it beyond blogging with mild annoyance. but hey)

so hey guys i finished dungeon meshi yesterday and i'm still thinking about it

#ria.txt #i spoiled myself so at first i was like 'this is bonkers wtf are they doing in those last few chapters?????'#but then it was like. yeah. i see #love those ch when it's just clearly putting the squad into Situations #also. izutsumi #what i really liked was how tightly the protagonist and the deuteragonist were wound up in the overall themes #the plot the themes the conflict the characters it was very neatly connected #hence i am also now accidentally invested in whatever going on between laios and marcille #not just platonic not romantic not enemies i just think they work well tgt and deeply care for each other its great watching them develop #it's the leader + most trusted advisor / anxious girlfailure + the annoying freak she's somehow attached to vibes #haha that rabbit chapter with marcille. hahha i was like what the fuck man. it was funny and then boom whump [tears streaming down my face]#those shapeshifter chs were sooo much fun esp seeing other chara's perceptions of each other. stealing that #the changeling ones were great too elf senshi is the fucking funniest he looks sooooooo unserious #marcille's evolving perception with death starting with saving falin and saving the squad and her nightmares of outliving everyone-#-and her dad and her 'temper tantrum' and UGH when at the end she said she was fine with falin not coming back.... WAAA. OUGH.#i think dunmeshi handled the trope of 'prophecy of chosen one becoming king' pretty well and it makes sense why laios is the protag #the worldbuilding is so thoughtful as well i liked seeing different characters with different worldviews interact #very solid and well rounded series wooo #the main 4 has such a fun dynamic together #anyways. dunmeshi au.....#more like borrowing the worldbuilding bc charas are too nuanced for a one to one comparison #ren is like some prince of his own species but he's like 34th in line and no one cares about him so he fucks off to eat monsters #which is why he's both snobbish AND a total freak when it comes to his food taste #false is originally in for the money from ren and plans to scam him but unfortunately the cringefail swag captures her #martyn is Obnoxiously Clueless and thinks he's smart but he's not. he's resourceful but also pathetic and crazy #stress cant cook but she thinks she does so everyone goes (≖_≖ ) when she picks up a pot. they delegate her to killing and chopping duty #the mvp is iskall who keeps on saving everyone's asses and somehow has resources for everyone #i think ren is actually aware false is going to scam him but he has too much money to spend anyway and he thinks shes cool so he lets her??#and somehow she doesnt take the money and run. and goes back to eating monsters w/ the party. everyone is crazy

it’s funny how a quick google search could’ve solved the issue of claire’s heritage in hollywood u. christopher is out there thinking she was born in a farm or something. addison is 53% sure she’s a shoplifter. ethan thinks she has scammed a lot of men. no one has ever thought of opening google and making the connection between her swanson and those swansons. i mean how could they claire is begging 🙏 for a venmo

#hunt might be the only person who has thought of googling claire as soon as he saw her surname first day of class #i don’t think you can get to claire directly through a google search for swanson brand but if you use a little brainpower #which i trust hunt did use. you can probably make some assumptions. especially through her father #anyway. it really plays into hunts perception of claire as a spoilt person. since in my canon he didn’t grow up with money. but he probably #doesn’t think claire is serious about all of this. and she doesn’t need to worry about failing because she has her family’s money to fall #back into. and i think it’s funnnn if as the years pass he has to deal with the fact that claire IS serious about this and he has some #serious cognitive dissonance going on. it’s one of the preconceptions about claire he has that do not really fit reality but well.#he can’t be wrong 😁#i think it’s fun if there’s a class difference between them growing up. esp since now (2014) they’re in a inverse situation. sorta #actually i think ethan eventually figures this out too just how he figures out about hunt and claire’s relationship #<- after him and addison get involved with claire’s relationship with her mother i think he grows curious about like. well wtf is going on #with claire’s backstory anyway. who tf is this girl

She thinks of the vision of Marius in her the burning house while on the roof of the church in Cyril. "No...! No no no! What have I done!? I'm so sorry!" She thinks of the comforting chill of his hands as they danced, her own uncomfortably warm within them. "I'm sorry... for everything; but I've enjoyed every moment with you."
