Danny was tired. And angry. And scared. And confused.
Danny was a lot of things right now, but most of all, he was over it.
What is it, you may ask? Everything. The ghost fights. The being hunted. The slipping grades. The bullying. The contempt of the town and now the world at large. And heck, considering that the Green Lanterns work with the Justice League, maybe even the universe. He wonders if the Guardian Green Lanterns have been informed of the villain Phantom yet, if they're going to be informed at all.
Before Danny had fully processed this information and everything it implied for him going forward, when he was still in shock that Red Huntress, the ghost hunter, who spewed bias and hatred like it was her native language, was the hero here.
"Never before have I seen someone so young, and without so much as a mentor or friends to help out, be so courageous and strong." That was what Wonder Woman said during her part of the Please join us speech that they had to have prepared and practiced beforehand.
Red Huntress, who chased ghosts not to catch and return them to the Ghost Zone, like Phantom, or even to research(experiment) on, like the Fentons and the Guys in White, but to destroy. Not murder, not even kill, as far as the press and public were concerned. But destroy. Crush. Like ghosts were overpowered insects and not sentient and sapient individuals.
Danny didn't even know what to think or say about the Justice League yet, so he tried not to think or say anything at all. At least, not until it fully sunk in that the heroes whom he'd admired for their strength and bravery, who Danny, even before becoming a hero, of a kind, himself, understood were flawed and had their own issues and weaknesses. That no one, not even the strongest or smartest of them was truly indomitable, truly untouchable.
And Danny was tired. The kinda tired that took hold in your soul and didn't release until you were well and buried and truly gone. Except Danny would never be gone, now. The stupid portal incident made sure of that.
If there was even a small chance Danny would one day die and stay gone forever, not even coming back as a shade or blob ghost, it was dashed the moment Danny made the amazing mistake of stepping into his parents', the Fentons', faulty portal.
Danny, for 2 years now, had been made to protect the town from rampaging ghosts, and after the first year and into the second, the ghosts from humans.
Danny had sacrificed as much of himself as possible to protect. The guard. To keep people safe. To keep the peace.
He'd sacrificed his grades, his mental health, his physical health, the high regard of family he'd placed on the Dr. Fentons his entire life. He'd sacrificed his body, his safety, his self-respect and most of all, his self-image, to protect a town full of people who'd made it clear his whole life that they didn't care if he lived or died.
As Phantom, that much was obvious. As Fenton? It was subtle, yet somehow even more insidious.
He was the weirdo Fentons' son, having committed the apparently grave sin of being born to the town freak.
Except Jazz wasn't treated anything like he was, despite being their daughter. No, she was too perfect, too smart, too academic , too well-rounded and well-adjusted to be treated like the inconvenience he was.
Jazz started walking at 8 months. Started talking at 17 months. She was never a problem. Never complained or threw tantrums, no matter what. She used her words, and she used them wisely. Jazz was an aspiring psychologist, someone who would make a real difference in the world! Jasmine Fenton was born to succeed. Danny?
Danny was forgotten.
Danny was the kid who was mediocre and overlooked. Even when he was good at something, he was left to the side. He was the kid who threw tantrums, not to be a nuisance on purpose, but because he wasn't being listened to and didn't know how to express himself.
At school, he'd always been treated as other. And the otherness got worse in high school, after the accident in Freshman year.
Danny could always hear whispers and snickering behind his back from the students. Could hear the disappointed sighs and the lamentations about how different he was from his sister from the teachers and other staff.
Sam and Tucker were his only saving graces, and their friendship had been put to the test again and again the past two years; their relationships with him were shaky, as much as it pained him to admit that.
Danny was the kid who was bullied and outcasted, even by the other nerds and outcasts. He's the kid everyone makes light of, passing around jokes about the bliss that would follow him disappearing into the night and never being heard from again.
His teachers would 'quietly' ponder the high possibility of him dropping out of school and off the face of the Earth two weeks later.
And her Danny was, writing all of this down in the journal he'd kept since he was six years old and already being written off by his family and the town. He remembers hearing Jazz, in all her 8-year-old glory, mention something about how journaling was therapeutic and recommending it to some random lady she decided to help out of nowhere, despite no one asking her for help.
She'd gotten praise from the cashier and other surrounding adults and parents about how mature and smart she was.
And yet.
When the random lady, later on, when it was just them kids without the Dr. Fentons around, tried to offer Jazz pills covered in some kinda of leathery candy, and Danny slapped them out of her hands, he'd been labelled as a jealous petty ingrate, who couldn't handle his own shortcomings.
Jazz tried so hard to deny being anything like their parents, and she seemed to think her point was proven purely because she wasn't interested in ghosts, much less hunting them, but she was just as obsessed with psychology and medicine as the Dr. Fentons were with ghosts, and no amount of willful ignorance would erase that.
He sighed heavily, leaning back and stretching his arms. He let himself fall until his back hit the mattress, and Danny was looking up at his ceiling.
This was all so hard to wrap his head around. So difficult to swallow and pretend it didn't burn on its way down.
Danny, for two whole years, had given his literal blood, sweat, and tears to protect this town. He'd given up sleep, studying, and eating regularly. He'd given up his personal safety and more to keep ghosts from tearing this place apart, and all he got for it was colourful ghost slurs and contempt.
Danny had to give up everything. He had to. He protected this town, this world, not because he wanted to or because he was bored or even simply because he was able to, but because he had to.
He didn't realize what that truly meant for him until Freakshow happened.
Every loss had to be a minor setback.
Every weakness had to be a temporary obstacle.
Every mistake had to be a one-time problem.
And yet the mistakes were all the people ever saw.
The only current upside to this was that the Justice League was looking to repeal the Anti-Ecto Acts.
Not out of concern for ghosts. Of course not.
But because the definition of 'ecto entity' is vague and probably wouldn't hold water if challenged with actual facts and logic. That was what they claimed.
Though it was more likely because some of the magic people working with the Justice League use death magic, which messes with their bodies and the way they survive, and this could apply to them. Awfully convenient for the Justice League, if you asked Danny, but no one would.
Danny couldn't stay in this town. He may not be the smartest or the most socially aware, but he knew that much.
Just existing was dangerous for him. With all the new ghost tracking technology and the magic used to peel away glamour and disguise, he knew it was only a matter of time before he was found out and 'brought to justice'.
People were already shocked he'd managed to last this long without running away and never looking back.
And truth be told, the only reason he hadn't left right before high school started was because he'd planned to be an astronaut. He'd planned to graduate with the best grades he could, get into a good astrophysics program at Gotham U or Metropolis U, and finally be out of this stupid town and never have to look back.
But Danny's hopes and dreams died alongside him in that lab accident.
The only reason he didn't leave immediately after becoming half ghost was because of the ghost attacks.
Now he was wondering if staying would be worth the danger. Probably not. And Red Huntress wouldn't need his help anymore; she had the Justice League working with her now. Which was still crazy to think about because the ghosts were always after him, Phantom.
That much was clear from day one. It was part of why he always got flak for the attacks and property damage, even when said property damage was caused by the Fentons, the Guys in White, and Red Huntress.
The ghost hunters of Amity Park, and technnically the government, didn't even ping on most ghosts' radars except as a small rock in their shoe. Gum stuck to their sleeve, even.
The only reason the GIW were avoided at all was because ghosts understood what experimentation meant and they wanted no part of it, even if the GIW's successful catch rate was less than one percent.
And all of those guys, all the ghost hunters of this stupid backwater town, aimed like stormtroopers! And they didn't spare a single thought for the safety of the public/surrounding citizens!
And every fight they, especially Red, got involved in was always on their terms!
They didn't have to wake up after 30 minutes of sweet blissful rest to go fight Technus in his new and improved battle suit and get literally pummelled into the ground.
They didn't have to run away in the middle of a test because their ghost sense went off, and they didn't want whatever ghost was out and about busting through the window or ceiling and endangering a bunch of innocents.
They didn't have to miss the retake date(s) for those tests because some other ghosts had impeccable timing.
They didn't have to ask themselves multiple times a day if they'd eaten enough because ghosts kept interrupting their attempts at meals.
They didn't get chewed out and scolded for missing homework, not completing chores, being late to school, and always making a mess of the house.
He huffed to himself. Whatever. It's not that important. He shoved the journal into the pocket dimension of his torso before he forgot.
Danny got to his feet and intangibly pulled the bag out of the wall. The bag he'd packed in case his house got raided by the GIW or he revealed himself to his parents and they didn't take it well.
Ellie was already staying in the GZ. Her obsession was Freedom, and a large part of that, to her, was travel. It was safer from the GIW, and Vlad, for her to be in the Infinite Realms, where she could travel across the ever-expanding universe and landscapes for the rest of time and never go with her obsession unfulfilled.
He pulled out his phone, the one Sam bought him, and Tucker encrypted to hell and back. He shot them a quick message, just what he was planning and why. He didn't expect an immediate response from both of them.
They wanted to come with him; that wasn't surprising. But it was heartbreaking. Or would it be core cracking, since he's a ghost?
Unfortunately for all three of them, that couldn't happen. Because people would notice if they left.
The world's elite, and even the police, and the world's greatest detectives would definitely notice if the heiress to the Manson fortune was suddenly gone from her home without a trace.
The engineering world, the town, the hacking and coding communities, they would notice if the genius innovator and aspiring billionaire Tucker Foley dropped off the face of the Earth.
But Danny?
People would be more relieved by the fact that Phantom is missing, and he doubted his parents would even file a missing person's report. Jazz was a different story, but there would be no one to find anyway. Not in the mortal realm, at least.
So, here he was. Standing in front of the very thing that killed him and started him down this awful path in the first place. The only artificial and stable portal to the Infinite Realms. He was about to step through that portal for a second (or would it be third?) time, and he wasn't going to step back into this side of the veil for as long as possible.
He wished he could destroy the stupid thing, but he had tried before, even pleaded with Clockwork for knowledge on how and bribed him with two whole trays of homemade fudge for any kind of help, even bad news.
He'd been told that the portal could be dismantled, but to avoid a worse future, he would have to destroy all the pieces and the blueprints and research related to it, and run away from home anyway, since his parents would become convinced he was taken over or influenced by a ghost.
The only difference would be that he'd be stuck in the mortal realm, where half of him is considered a villain and functionally illegal. And he wasn't willing to risk himself like that, not after almost three years of risking himself day and night for people who couldn't care less.
Danny was going to miss Sam and Tucker, who he'd hoped he could spend the rest of his life with, back when he still had dreams for the future.
They understood, they had started a three-way call to tell him that, and their goodbyes. The phones they had for this situation would work in the Infinite Realms, thanks to Danny's tweaking, but Danny couldn't risk calling at an inconvenient time and exposing this whole thing.
He took a deep breath, let his transformation wash over him, and stepped through the portal.

Prompt: Amity’s Hero
The justice league FINALLY investigates Amity, and realizes that they’ve made a grave mistake by letting a burgeoning hero shoulder a large problem without any training or support. They rectify this immediately by offering a position in the JL along with an assortment of mentors and other teen heroes to bond with.
Red Huntress receives this invitation in front of Phantom, while actively trying to hunt him down.

I had a fic idea but don't know where to go with it, so if you want to expand on anything feel free.
So, Danny's finally an adult who's off to college at Gotham (the STEM there is crazy for how many supervillains have doctorates). Since Vlad actually took the time to heal and grow past his issues and turned into the crazy Bi uncle he was supposed to be, Danny's got his college paid for.
In the form of $50,000 and an kinda ok motel near the upper west side.
He tried asking his former nemesis why he's done this but Vlad just told him it's so he has some "pocket change and experience".
Danny's been spending the past few weeks aceing his his STEM middling at literature and upgrading the motel into something actually decent.
His business seem to be attracting the strangest living too. That's saying something since he's got ghostly and living guests. Danny knew this place was cursed but still feels surprised every time they show up.
1st: A nice lesbian couple came on the first night cause one with green-ish skin named Pam according to the pale lady named Harley felt the vegetation get really excited when he came. He had about an hour of questioning on Ectology and who Undergrowth was.
2nd: A 10ft tall crocodile man named Waylon came in cause of Harley's recommendation, he looked like he'd run any moment. That night he made sure his staff wouldn't mistreat people like him and by the time croc left there was a glowing sign by the door about how different guests are to be treated with respect no matter how they look.
3rd: THE Red hood showed up asking about a kid who worked there. Her name's Zoe and when her parents reaction to their kid being trans was to kick her out of the house at 17. She biked to the motel to get some rest before catching the bus out of Gotham, got a job checking people in instead and has since found an actual family with the help of Amorpho a social worker Danny met a few years ago.
4th: the most recent event was when Gotham's play boy prince and his cousin Kate Kane stumbled in during his shift at the front desk. Mr. Wayne was pretending extremely well to be drunk while his cousin was wrangling him awkwardly. If Danny didn't have super senses he wouldn't have noticed he was acting, or the tracker added to his cuff when he was semi-forced to shake "Bruce, just Bruce. Everyone's always so stiff." Hand. The tracker had little legs and crawled under his shirt, creepy and fascinating.

A lost kryptonian founded.
Superman was just taking a break out of the Fortress of solitude after a couple of training to defend himself against kryptonite in case of another fight against Lethor.
Clark watched the Icy landscape in silence. It was quiet as the sky was dark, with only the tiny sound of a dangerously slow beating of a drum or a heart right underneath the ice..
Clark immediately went into Superman mode, driving right into the very glacier of frozen ice, only to nearly crash into a body in some large tunnel hole large enough to fit an adult.
It was a boy, a preteen at most curled up in a ball hugging himself with black and white hair that had a frost covered half of a crown on his head, eyes closed as If asleep with frozen tears stuck to his face like icicles, wearing a kryptonian suit with the initials rip on his chest.
Superman didn't think much or twice as he grabbed the boy carefully, diving out the hole he made from the Icy grounds.
The boy was ice cold, much colder then space itself if it weren't for the icy breath.
He dove back to the Fortress of Solitude in a tiny bit of panic, not to think at all as the Fortress's voice of Lara spoke out with a hologram.
"DNA Recognition, distant cousin once removed, Emergency Defense security disarmed."
Her eyes flickered a bit as if a message was being played, her face look a bit worried and hopeful.
"Oh, child of my beloved brother, Jac-al, if you have survived long enough under the eccentric of my brother and found the Fortress of Solitude. I hope you that you didn't inherit my brother eccentric antic to malfunction everything he built without forgetting to check if they are faulty."

Danny commits to the Bit a bit too hard...
So! For the first few weeks after his accident, whenever Danny would try to help the people of Amity Park, he would be treated as a Villain.
No matter if he had just defeated the Big Bad of the Week or saved a Cat from a tree, everybody in town only saw him as a Monster or Villain to he feared and hunted down. Danny was really getting sick of trying to get them on his side, until Sam made a suggestion.
"Why not just...play into it?" She said, barely looking up from painting her nails.
It was just an offhand suggestion, but it stuck with Danny. Why shouldn't he lean into it? The people of Amity Park already saw Ghosts as Evil, and they already assumed he was in cahoots with the Ghosts attacking the town. Why shouldn't he just...play into it?
So he does just that.
From that day on, whenever Phantom was spotted he would dramatically monologue about his Evil Plans, or claim that another Rogues attack on the City was his own act of terror.
Box Ghost destroys the towns Warehouses? It was on his orders.
Ember mind controls masses of Teenagers? All part of his Plans somehow.
Every Adult in Town is kidnapped by Young Blood? Danny gave them over to a friend as a Gift.
He crafts an identity for himself as the most Vile and Horrible Ghost that has ever attacked the City, using his own infamy to cement his legend even more firmly. The town only sees a Monsterous Villain, who has eveded capture near effortlessly for months on end, who constantly attacks their City and gets away with it.
Of course he still needs an excuse for how his plans keep getting stopped, and he gets it when his girlfriend Valerie becomes the Red Huntress. Before that, he just claimed infighting or the Fentons getting lucky, but Valerie becoming the Town's Hero meant he had a plausible excuse for how he kept getting "Foiled".
Val was suspicious, because she was not as involved as Phantom painted her to be, but in the end she had no proof of him faking his defeats. And she couldn't come up with any explanations for why he would do that in the first place. I mean, who would fake being a Supervillain? It had to he something else.
This did come back to bite him a while later, when the Justice League decided that enough was enough, and dispatched Justice League Dark to recruit Red Huntress and help Deal with him.
Coincidentally, that was the same day Pariah Dark attacked the Mortal Realm and sucked Amity Park into the Ghost Zone.
And honestly? Danny had spent over a Year proclaiming himself as a Villain who commanded Ghosts to attack the Human Realm, and he had heard about the Right of Conquest being Absolute in the Ghost Zone, so why not make it official? Why not overthrow the Ghost King, become the Ghost King, and cement his identity as a Villain while also forbidding Ghosts from entering the Human Realm without his permission?
He may have gotten a bit carried away and forgotten that the Villain thing was a disguise...but hey! He was still preventing Ghost Attacks! ...mostly. That's got to count for something right?
He may have let the Bit run a bit too far...
...

Phantom letters - DPXDC PROMPT
The bats wake up one day to the internet going crazy; people around the world were getting letters from they're diseased loved ones. The reactions are mixed, from people being outraged for the "prank" to people crying in melancholy at getting closure.
All the letters have something in common: They're closed with a green sealing wax that had an stylize DP and the name Phantom beneath it. Posts about the cards were using the # Phantom Letters.
The bats are discussing the viral posts in the cave when Alfred comes holding a basket filled with letters, announcing they were left at the doors. The letters had the sealing wax that they recognize from the posts. Checking the cameras they can see how they glitch before the basket appears.
Alfred starts to distribute the letters that had only one destinatary. Letters from each Thomas and Martha to both Bruce and Alfred. Letters from each John and Mary to Dick. A letter from Catherine to Jason. A letter from the Drake's to Tim, and another one to Bruce.
Once they had calmed down enough from the shock, Alfred proceeded to read the shared recipients. From Thomas and Martha to "The grandchildren we never got to meet." From John and Mary to "the family that took our little Robin in." Letters from Catherine to "My little boys family." The letters were directed to people the deceased didn't get to meet.
As much as the mere existence of the letters tugged at their hearts, they decided to not read them until they verified that the handwriting actually belong to the ones it claimed. They checked each letter, and in the end confirmed the letters were in fact from they're lost love ones.
After much discussion, each person makes the decision to read they're own letters later in private, and they proceed to read the ones that shared recipients out loud. The letter mentioned specifics like names and events that the deceased shouldn't have been able to know, including they're vigilante abilities, which had them pause each time to panic a bit. But what was more interested were certain pieces of the letters that mentioned a Prince Phantom.
"Prince Phantom said to don't mention things past our death, but it wasn't a command, so we're hoping this won't be much of a problem." - John and Mary
"I still can't believe Prince Phantom is letting us do this, but I'm so glad." - Catherine
It finally paints the mystery in a more concerning light when at the end of Thomas and Martha's letter there is a call for help.
"We're sorry for ending the letter on a serious tone, but seeing the kind of job you all get involved in, we wanted to ask: Could you please help Prince Phantom? Phantom had asked us to not give information about this, but he's so young, and has already been hurt so much. Please, check on Amity Park, Illinois."
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Meanwhile, team Phantom has decided that they needed to get the news about the GIW out of Amity and ask for help. Two problems:
the GIW blocks any technological attempt made.
People might be afraid to learn that ghosts exist and side with the GIW.
As a way to deal with the public image, Phantom opens a possibility that the death have never had:
"All afterlives are open to write letters to their love ones that are still alive today. Nothing that includes threats, and don't go talking about the anti-ecto acts or Amity Park yet, we're trying to ease people into our existence first. Also, I know you all check on your love ones when the veil is thin, but please keep the things you shouldn't know out of the letters if possible. If you want your letter to be sent in the first batch, make sure to deliver your letter before the week ends."
Letters are a good way to reconnect people with the death, they aren't digital, and the GIW won't be able to intercept letters if they're send through inter-dimensional portals. Two birds in one shot.

im being hit with The Visions again
the Vision this time is a "homeless danny in gotham" au except its pre-robin Batman again because im on a batdad kick. --------------------
Danny finds a car.
Which-- isn't, like, anything super interesting or impressive. It's Gotham, it's a big city. There's cars on every corner, can't throw a stick without hitting one somewhere. And then setting off the alarm.
But-! It's a car, and it's past midnight-- or he thinks it might be past midnight, it's late enough to be. He doesn't have a watch and he left his phone at Vlad's; asshole put a tracker on it after the last time Danny ran off.
It's been over a month since, it's a new record -- last time it took just over two weeks for Vlad to find him and drag him back to the mansion. This time, Danny ran further. Left the state and everything. See how long it takes Vlad to find him now, hah.
People go missing all the time in Gotham.
Anyways-- there's a car, and it's midnight, and it's parked in an alleyway. Danny would've called it invisible with the way he pretty much trips over it, phasing through the wall of the building beside it and not watching where he's going, but it's not. So he doesn't.
Danny runs into the hood and nearly faceplants right into the darn thing with an 'oomph', hands catching himself on the metal as a flash of irritation flashes hot through his gut. It doesn't hurt or anything, but getting the wind knocked out of you sucks always, and he's tired and hungry, and as a result not in the best state of mind.
He's just about to sink his foot into the side of the wheel -- it wouldn't do anything, he's not that big of an asshole, but it's the principle -- when he stops.
Danny pauses.
He takes a step back, holding his hands out 'n' everything, and examines the car. He squints, trying to get his eyes to adjust to the darkness, considering the closest streetlight is twenty feet that way and positioned in a way that none of the light is hitting it.
Danny would not call himself a car guy. He doesn't think he counts, considering his size and lack of everything. But, but, he knows his way around a few cars, and he had an old obsession with older models when he was little that kinda petered out of existence after his accident. Had a bunch of little car models sitting on one of his shelves back in Amity, and Dad offered to get his hands on an old car for the two of them to fix up together so it'd be ready for Danny when he got his license.
...Anyways.
Point is: Danny can appreciate an old car, and this car has an older -- albeit obviously modified, if the matte paneling and plated wheels meant anything -- look to it. That kind of flat top went out of style years ago, and it's got this kinda rectangular look Danny doesn't see often these days on modern cars.
Other than the electrical cars, but he doesn't think those count. That's boxy, not rectangular.
Danny frowns, tilts his hands down, and leans back further as if that will let him get a better look at this thing. "...What model is this?" He mutters, it's hard to tell in this lighting.
Wait, he should see if there's anyone in the car. It's not running or anything, and nobody's come out to yell at him -- or shoot him -- but, still. People are crazy in Gotham, crazier than they've ever been in Amity. The last thing he needs to do is piss off some guy from the mob.
Danny peers into the window and-- there's no window, okay. Well, no window, and no driver. Some idiot left their car unprotected and without windows, in Gotham?
He pulls on the door handle just to be annoying -- it doesn't budge. Okay, maybe not that stupid. Especially since Danny didn't even see it until he was quite literally running into it.
So. Not that stupid.
Danny looks around warily, pulling his hoodie around him tighter, and then starts circling the car slowly. Like a vulture. No license plate; shocker. Hear how shocked he is? Clutching his pearls right now.
"Reinforced bumper. Cool." he says, er- whispers, really, quiet enough that it doesn't even echo. Danny squats in front of the car and runs his hands over the -- what, should he even call this a bumper? It's bigger than his head, and it's covering the grille. He picks at these... things on the side that remind him of leather straps. Probably to keep this bumper up? Like a ratchet strap?
Danny leans back until his butt hits the ground and he can sit back properly, propping himself up on his hands -- maybe not a good idea. There's probably broken glass somewhere here and he doesn't wanna pick shards out of his palms, again. It's like popping the world's most annoying zit depending on if it gets under the skin.
(He could always just phase them out, but the picking gives him something to do. It doesn't hurt that much.)
Eh. It'll be fine.
With one knee propped up, Danny looks the front up and down, and furrows his brows. The style kinda reminds him of a dodger, especially with the placement and style of the headlights. He plants his hands on the concrete -- hissing when he feels something cut into his palms, ow, there's that glass he was talking about -- and leans down to look under the car.
Hm, nothing jutting out that much. Looks pretty normal. Good space between the bottom and the ground.
He gets up and circles the side again, brushing whatever pebbles or glass that could've stuck into his skin off. He's really curious about where the owner got matte plating for it, or if it's just a wrap. The silhouette's definitely sixties or seventies; too angular for the eighties and fifties.
...There's no one here, Danny looks around again just to make sure, cranes his ears to catch anything. Nope, just the typical quiet rumbling of Gotham's underbelly. It kinda reminds him of Amity, or-- no. No, it reminds him of the quiet groan of the Zone.
That's far more comforting, he thinks. Danny's never really liked Amity all that much.
Back to the car: there's no one around, so Danny folds his arms against the side of the door and sticks his head inside the window. No keys in the ignition, should've figured.
Not like Danny was planning on stealing the car anyways -- anyone capable of modifying a car into this kinda beast -- or paying someone to modify -- was not someone he wanted to piss off. Danny's an orphan, not stupid.
Ignore the fact that he's got his head stuck through the window. The interior isn't anything interesting, but the seats are made of leather, which is nice. Must be a pain in the summer or winter, but leather is cool, and gets stains out better than cloth.
No stick shift though, he's a little disappointed.
Danny presses his mouth into a line and then slants it, humming in the back of his throat. Honestly, he's kinda tempted to crawl in and go to sleep. The leather seats look really inviting, and he's been sleeping on the ground or on park benches for weeks, and the car is really well hidden. No need to worry about being kidnapped.
But, it still belongs to someone. And they're probably using it for something shady. They'll come back for it eventually, so he should get this gawking over with anyways.
And, and-- and. He wants to get a look at that fucking engine. 'Cause holy shit!
Danny pulls his head out of the window and half-dances over to the back, his hand curling around one of the bars as a grin spreads across his face. Now, Danny hates Christmas, but this, this is like it came early and good for once.
"You could smuggle moonshine with this thing," Danny says to himself, grinning ear to ear and running his hands over the edge of the metal. The car is too conspicuous for backroads driving, but the engine, wow. What a thing of beauty.
One of Auntie's friends would probably know what engine it is -- or what type of engine it's based off of, it could very well be a bunch of different engines frankenstein'd together. Danny doesn't recognize it.
Which means it could be illegal. Again, what a shocker. In Gotham? He's clutching his pearls.
Fully satisfied with himself, Danny dances around to the front again and holds his hands out. He makes an 'L' with both hands and shuts one eye, getting the car within the frame of his fingers like he's about to take a picture.
"I rate you," Danny makes a camera shutter sound and mimics taking a photo, "one cool fuckin' car."
"Thank you."
Danny doesn't scream. He does not. He's taught himself better since ghosts started popping up in Amity, and honestly he deserves some credit for that considering they only started popping up over half a year ago.
He does, however, gasp. And he gasps hard, the type that has a high chance of giving you the hiccups afterwards; the painful, chest-thumping kind. Danny slams both hands over his mouth and stumbles backwards, eyes wide and his heart kicking into the fifth gear in his ears.
Bleeding out from the shadows is a man entirely drenched in black, Danny can hardly make out his silhouette and barely catches the white glints of his eyes. Fear like a prey animal burns in his lungs, wild and rabid, Danny has half a mind to bolt.
His ghost sense didn't go off, which might just be the most terrifying thing.
The man doesn't move any more than a step, just enough that Danny can barely see him, but he can feel him watching him. Shit. Shit. He should've never stuck around.
His hands are still over his mouth, Danny, shaking, flutters them open, "How-- h-- how--" he wheezes, "how long have you been standing there?"

You know what.
ANOTHER DPxDC idea (as if I write prompts for anything else lol ✍(◔◡◔)
And once again, I think I might have a hyperfixation rn, another deaged Dani (Ellie) and Dan (Dante)! and Dad!Danny.
And you know what, lets make it another DannyxConner idea.
Danny is on a field trip with his class (NOT in Gotham though, LOVE Gotham but lets go with a different city) in like Central City or Metropolis (If Metropolis, Danny is SUPER excited to see the space sections they have at the museum they no doubt have, because well SUPERMAN is an alien and based in their city. If in Central City Conner is visiting Bart.)
During the trip he bumps into Conner and the two just hit it off. Conner enjoys listening to Danny rant about space and the stars and finds watching Danny's eyes light up in joy kinda cute. And if he got his new hero name Supernova from listening to Danny's rants about the stars well... no one needs to know how he got it.
Danny likes how chill Conner is and how the guy stood against Dash and the other jocks when Dash decided he wanted to mess with Danny during the trip, a rare thing nowadays but sometimes Dash does try, and how he respects/likes Danny's friends.
He didn't even say anything negative or hurtful when he found out Danny has two kids back home.
In the end the two exchange numbers, flirt hard, and maybe set up a date in the future. And then more dates. Becoming boyfriends. AND meeting the family. Conner is smitten with just out of toddlerhood Ellie and toddler Dante and adores them. And he loves how the Fentons just love him the moment he stepped into their house and was introduced as Danny's boyfriend, he made sure to bring over a pie Ma should him how to make.
Things get a bit complicated when Conner, Supernova, is at a reunion of YJ members and his phone lights up with a text message from Danny.
He's smiling with a goofy/soft look when he opens the text and see's its a picture of Danny holding a pouting toddler Dante and Ellie on his lap smiling with a notable gap in her teeth at the camera. The message he got was 'Ellie wanted you to know she finally lost her first baby tooth. Dan's been grumpier, I think he misses you.'
He is pulled out of his happy thoughts and musings when he hears Bart gasp hard and drop a bowl of snacks onto the floor. Conner turns to from the future Speedster and see's him about to have a panic attack.
Bart, Impulse, is having a freak out after catching a glimpse of the text picture Conner had gotten and being nosy wanted to know what got his friend to smile so smitten. He knew of Conner's current boyfriend and the kids Conner adores but haven't had time to be introduced to them or even see a pic.
He wasn't expecting to see the very MONSTER of his NIGHTMARES that basically destroyed the world in the FUTURE as a toddler pouting at a camera and surrounded by two smiling identical looking people either. People he never saw in the future or with HIM AND-
Oh.... OH!
Was that why he turned evil? Did something happen to his family?

Spite
Danny made himself known to the world by hacking into the Justice League's communications line. Amity was safe but he was so tired of being ignored that the moment he figured out how to isolate his small town from the rest of the world he decided to let the heroes know they had failed.
He posted all the ignored calls, the GIW legal documents, the experiments, everything that would let them know that they had failed. Because he had saved himself and the others but never got help.
In a very short time Amity declared itself independent, similar to Atlantis or Themyscira; they didn't need anything from the rest of the world anyway.
At first the League thought it was the attack of a villain or some new organization.
It became very obvious that this was not the case the more they confirmed the information presented, from a law passed under their noses to the threat of exterminating an entire race of beings that were much stronger than them but decided to chose a peaceful route instead of just destroying everything.
For the first time in years, the League felt useless. The weight only increased when the last piece of "evidence" turned out to be the death certificate of Daniel Fenton, the first victim of the whole mess.

The Job Offer
"And why not you?", said the man. "You're intelligent, skilled, and adaptable. Most importantly, you're entertaining. That last part becomes very important when dealing with my kind".
A ring glinted in the dim light as he gestured with his hands. "Plus, there wouldn't be any danger in the first place! Our lot tend to stick to the Rules, you see? And not harming the messenger is most certainly a Rule".
A sip of coffee. Eyes filling with mirth.
"In the off chance that someone did take offence, all you have to do is amuse them for a while, and as I said, you're very good at that. But don't worry, they won't take offence".
Dick Grayson, attention still half focused on the vicious black claws on the man's hand, had to ask, "And why won't they?"
The man's pleasant smile didn't falter. But it did slowly morph into a grin with way too many teeth to be normal. The young vigilante had to suppress a shudder.
When the man?it spoke, the voice resonated. "Because you'll be one of mine. And they won't dare touch what's mine".
The teeth gleamed.
And just as abruptly as it shifted, the air changed, the pressure lifted, and the man was smiling once more.
Dick was left off-footed and tightly clutching the arms of his chair, his breath fogging in the still frigid air. He hadn’t even noticed the temperature dropping.
He looked at the man nonchalantly sitting across from him as if he hadn't just taken years off of Dick's life. The vigilante was not one to scare easily. Yet, mere moments ago, Dick had felt a fear so primal that it was maddening. It was not the kind of fear a human being could evoke, no matter how frightening their actions may be. Dick had seen the worst of Gotham, and Gotham was a cesspit on a good day. But he hadn't ever felt like this before today. If there was ever a question about the humanity of his companion before...well it was answered now.
To be honest, he couldn't quite recall how he got here in the first place. Everything was a blur.
No...not quite. His memories were alright, it's just that his mind couldn’t grasp them.
And every second in this...space, had felt muted. As though he was lying beneath several layers of sheer fabric; he could somewhat feel things, see things, but his senses were muffled.
The spike of fear from before wasn't him breaking through as much as he was allowed to break through, and now he was safely back beneath the dampening cloud once more. It was almost comforting.
Dangerous.
Dick only remembered what had happened in bits and pieces. Being fired from Robin, the legacy he had forged for himself, named after his mother's love, and garbed in Grayson colours.
Being angry and distraught. Not knowing what to do.
It had taken him weeks to reorient himself. A month to gather his composure.
He vaguely recollected a cafe in Jump City. He had been sitting in a booth, contemplating his options...
Someone had sat right across from him, right?
He had looked up…
“Hello. May I sit here?”
“...Sure. Go ahead.”
“Daniel Nightingale.”
“...Richard Grayson.”
" I know. You shouldn’t give out your name so freely by the way. Also, could I have a bit of your time?"
"Um...yeah, sure?"
“Perfect!”
And the next thing he knew, he was Here.
Wherever here was.
(Why had he said yes then? He would never have done that normally.)
At first his mind had been adamant in believing that here was the very same cafe he had been sitting in. But Dick wasn't trained by the man known as the World's Greatest Detective for nothing. However, it had taken him an embarrassing few moments to start noticing the abnormalities.
For one thing, he had been sitting in a booth in a cafe, not at an ornate wooden table, much like the one in Bruce's home office. The only thing the cafe table and this one had in common was that they were both rectangular.
Secondly, their table was covered by a veil. A huge gauzy one hanging from above. But try as he might he couldn't see where it was hanging from, just a yawning darkness.
Finally, he could see shadows moving beyond the veil, and the more he looked, the more bizarre they became. And at one point, the shadows lost all pretence of humanity. They weren't even humanoid, let alone human.
He definitely wasn't in Jump City anymore.
It had taken him even longer to notice the man sitting across him. That he hadn’t left this Daniel Nightingale behind.
Wispy white hair.
"Ah! You noticed so quickly. You really are the perfect fit for the job!"
Green. green eyes.
"Apologies for the veiling. It's necessary however.., some things are not just meant for mortal eyes, you see. Without it, you might just go insane! We wouldn't want that now would we?"
Unnaturally pale skin.
"Enough dillydallying! But first, introductions. You may call me either Daniel or Nightingale. By what name would you prefer to be called?”
Something about that question made the ex-Robin’s hindbrain pay attention. The wording of it, the tone…
You shouldn’t give out your name so freely by the way.
Could I have a bit of your time?
Something had felt incredibly off, so he had gone ahead and given one of the alternate names he had been thinking of taking up now that Robin was over.
“You may call me Nightjar.”
Nightingale had looked incredibly pleased then. And a bit smug too.
“Let me cut to the chase then Nightjar. I’m here to offer you a job. You’re a perfect fit for the role. We offer excellent compensation, and flexible work hours. Considering you’re out of work now that you’ve been fired from Robin, I believe my offer would be interesting for you.”
For some reason, perhaps because of all the strange things that happened, the fact that Nightingale seemed to know his alter ego hadn’t surprised Dick. Instead of asking how he came to know about this particular information, including the fact that he got fired, he decided to keep the conversation rolling on this supposed job offer. He had an inkling that he won’t get anywhere even if he asked, so might as well mine some information by making the other man talk.
“What kind of job is it? And what exactly would be included in the compensation?”
In response the man had snapped his fingers, and produced a file out of nowhere. He opened it, turned it around and slid it across the table. Dick started. Nightingale made a go ahead gesture, a smile on his lips once more. Dick gingerly dragged it a bit closer, and took a look.
“As you can see Nightjar, the position being offered is that of a courier. Due to many reasons, delivery across the realms is a cumbersome affair, not the least due to political complications. The best system to lay down in this situation was to have an impartial party be in charge of the work. You can say that I am a representative of the aforementioned impartial party that took over the role. If you would turn a page over-
Dick had dutifully turned the page.
-you’d see that we offer great compensation. In addition to your salary, you’ll receive health insurance, life insurance, death insurance, medical insurance, dental, vision care insurance, paid vacation time, overtime pay, paid time-off, flexible time-off, paid medical leave, free medical care, maternity leave, paternity leave, all other forms of parental leave, a good retirement package, loan assistance, wellness programmes, child care assistance, regular bonuses, promotions, raises, accommodation, a provident fund, and a whole host of other benefits that are clearly listed on the page. And of course at the end right there is our offered starting salary, which is highly negotiable up to the amount listed right below it. Please take as much time as you need to read through them.”
To say Dick had been overwhelmed was an understatement. He hadn’t thought that this was going to be an actual, honest to God job offer. If anything he just thought the entire job thing was an excuse or prelude to something much worse. But as he parsed through the file, getting increasingly bewildered as the man rattled on, he had to admit that this really looked like a weird recruitment effort. And then his eyes had fallen on the salary figure, and the amount to which it could be negotiated upwards, and he froze. Because even for the ex-ward of a billionaire, it was a ludicrous number. He couldn’t even accurately count the zeros on the thing. Even Wayne Enterprises wouldn't be able to match a deal like this.
At that thought Dick had felt a pang of pain as he remembered Bruce still hadn’t called him, or even made an attempt at apologising. There were no texts, no missives. Just radio silence. The pain in his chest increased and Dick had felt the ever returning feeling of being unmoored. He pushed those feelings to the furthest corners of his mind. He had to focus now.
Feeling marginally calmer, he had taken a deep breath and closed the file. He looked up at Nightingale who had been watching him avidly over the rim of a coffee cup which definitely wasn’t there before, and asked the most pertinent question.
“Why me?”
And now they are here.
Dick scoffed at the white haired being’s answer. Oh he didn’t doubt that it was the truth. By now he had somehow come to an understanding of how this worked. It was fae rules. Meaning he had to watch his mouth. Similarly Nightingale won’t lie, but he can certainly obfuscate. After all withholding information wasn’t technically a lie, especially if it was masked with a half-truth. In other words, Nightingale hadn’t lied, but that wasn’t all there is to it. And Dick wasn’t going to let it slide.
“How am I supposed to believe you to be a good employer if you’re already lying?”, he asked outright. You know, like a reckless fool.
Nightingale’s pleasant smile instantly froze, and then it gained an edge. A sharp, lethal edge.
“I don’t lie”, the man said, a cold cadence to his voice.
Dick could feel the figurative whetted blade on his throat, but he pressed forward. This was the first time he had taken blood in this fiasco and he wasn’t going to concede just like that.
“Lying by omission, is still lying.”
Nightingale’s entire mien darkened, and frost spread across the table. Dick didn’t back off.
There was silence. Suffocating silence. And then the vergals receded and Nightingale sat back with a satisfied air. Dick blinked in surprise.
“Good. You didn’t cower.”
Dick sat back on his own chair, his breath fogging in the still cold air. “Was that a test?”
Nightingale took another sip of his coffee. Was it even coffee? It looked like coffee, but who knows what anything is in this bizarre space. Certainly not Dick.
“It was a test. The position of a courier in this part of existence requires mettle, and a strong mind. You would be dealing with beings ranging from the divine to the demonic. I’m sure you know they are a stubborn lot. You’ll have to stand up to them often. Plus you would be representing Us. We can’t have an unprincipled, craven fool take the job can we now? So I had to test you. Congratulations! You passed with flying colours.”
Dick glared at the man. “I still haven’t agreed to anything. And you still haven’t told me why I was chosen.”
Nightingale chuckled. It was an unnatural, but pleasant sound. “Aah you caught that. Very well then.”
He clasped his hands together and put them on the table, bringing Dick’s attention to the black, razor sharp claws once again, as well as to the extremely ominous ring he wore on his left hand’s little finger.
“You were chosen because you are a multiversal constant. This job requires much interdimensional, interuniversal travel, and a multiversal constant is ideal for the role. And before you ask, a multiversal constant is essentially someone whose soul acts as a consistent axis across worlds through indelible aspects of their existence. They are rare, and their axial quality makes multiversal travel easy for them.”
The white haired entity’s eyes shone in the dim light. “You are a multiversal constant Nightjar. Centred around your potential, And also, I know you will agree to do the job. So I’m not worried.”
Even as he struggled to process what was just revealed, Dick found the energy to scowl at the impishly grinning man. “And how would you know? What’s in it for me? All I’m seeing is a job, the benefits of which, doesn’t make up for how dangerous it is.”
“But you will accept it nonetheless”, replied Nightingale with an amused air. “Think about it. You’ve been fired from Robin but still intend to continue being a vigilante, and vigilantism is expensive work. Now that you don’t have the Wayne coffers to pull from, you would have to find alternate means to acquire resources. You’re brilliant and I have no doubt you will find those resources and do spectacularly under your new mantle. But that would take time. And calling in favours that could either be used somewhere else, or make you indebted to someone. The salary this job provides you will allow you to finance your quest for justice, and still have plenty leftover. Not to mention the other benefits, such as the free medical care provided by Us, people who will never question your injuries the way a normal hospital might, or put your civilian identity at risk like a back alley doctor.”
Nightingale’s verdant eyes stared a hole through Dick as he spoke. “You wanted to get out of Batman’s shadow. This is your chance, Nightjar.”
The young vigilante had to give it to Nightingale. The man sure knew how to pitch an offer. He found himself agreeing to most of what Nightingale said, especially the finances part but he still wasn’t going to agree to a job that would put him in the crosshairs of gods and demons. That was just monumentally stupid.
“You make good points”, Dick said as he slid the file sitting idle on his side to Nightingale. “But I’m still not gonna agree.”
Nightingale slid the file back over to him without missing a bit.
“If I thought you were the type to easily capitulate I wouldn’t have approached you in the first place,” the man said, not a single sign of ire at Dick’s repeated refusal in his voice. In fact he seemed rather glad Dick was being difficult.
“You want to know more about being a multiversal constant correct? That is not the kind of information you’ll find lying around on earth.”
A pitch black claw scraped across the table, but there was no noise, and the deep scratch left behind instantly stitched itself back together, the tabletop pristine once more.
“By now you must have a rudimentary idea of the world you are being invited into. You would not have called yourself Nightjar otherwise. You also know that this is not a world Batman has access to.”
The man pointed opened his right palm, still resting on the table, and brilliant emerald fire blazed to life on it. Something in Dick’s lizard brain told him this fire ran cold rather than hot.
“Magic and everything associated with it is not something the Dark Knight can handle by his usual methods. And magic is just one of the aspects of our Realm. An infinite more mysteries keep it company. This world is yours for the taking. No mortal would be able to access what you can and you would be able to help so many people.”
Blue eyes met green.
“This will set you apart from Batman once and for all. An identity that no one can take away from you at their whim. Just think of this as your day job, as being a CEO is for Bruce Wayne.”
Nightingale clasped one of Dick’s hands resting on the table and transferred the fire over to it. Dick stared as the flame danced merrily in his palm. It really was cold. By the time he had his wits about him, the fire had vanished. Nightingale had seemingly finished his coffee, as the cup was nowhere to be seen.
Dick glanced at the white haired man who watched him calmly. Then he took the file and started reading through it. If he was going to take this job, he was going to make sure to read the fine print. Out of the corner of his eye, he could spy Nightingale’s gleaming, triumphant smile. Dick couldn’t help but feel annoyed.
He didn’t know how much time it took for him to read the file completely. Time ran strangely in this space. What he did know was there was an ornate, silver pen right next to him, which definitely wasn’t there before. He had to roll his eyes at Nightingale's antics.
Nonetheless he uncapped it, admiring the craftsmanship for a moment, and signed on the dotted line in his Alfred approved best cursive, bells, whistles, hoops and all.
Nothing happened. Dick felt kinda disappointed. He had thought signing a magical contract with a possible fae creature would be a little less anti-climactic. Across from him, Nightingale chuckled as if he could read his mind. Could he?
He slid the file over once more, this time for last. Nightintingale just skimmed through before sliding over an envelope.
“Your appointment letter”.
“You had that ready?”
“Of course.”
Dick snorted inelegantly at that. Obviously the man had foreseen how this would go. That should make him more wary than what he was feeling, but just as he had known the fire was cold before, he knew Nightingale wouldn’t harm him. Bruce would call him an idiot for this kind of illogical thinking, but Bruce wasn’t here now was he?
He was about to shove another medley of complicated emotions down, when Nightingale reached over and viciously ran a claw down his right arm. Blood spurted in a gruesome display and Dick scrambled back, chair falling down, and his body hitting the surprisingly sturdy veil.
“What was that about?”, he shouted as he clutched his bleeding arm to his chest. Just when he had thought the man didn’t mean him any harm…
Nightingale had the audacity to look nonplussed. He simply brought his palms up as if to show he meant no harm, but it was a moot point when one of his claws was dripping with Dick’s blood.
“Just testing something”, the man said calmly.
“Testing what?’, Dick asked angry and confused.
In response, Nightingale simply pointed to his arm.
“What? Testing whether your claws could tear me apar-”
He stopped short. There, before his eyes, the flesh of his arm was knitting itself together. In mere moments, the wound was gone, not even a scar where it should be. Dick was reminded of the table from before. What just happened?
“What did you do to me?”, he asked, voice soft, and emotionless.
“Don’t worry. It's your compensation. Part of your medical aid.”
He waved his hand, and the blood vanished. “Do sit down, Nightjar. Lets order something to eat.”
Robotically Dick walked to the table once more. The upturned chair was somehow rightened, already pulled out as if waiting for him.
“That was a healing factor”, he said rather than asked.
Nightingale nodded unbothered. “Yes, you’ll be needing that in your line of work.”
The veil opened and admitted a two-headed woman in, carrying trays of food in her four arms.
When she left, Nightingale eagerly took up his cutlery, looking excitedly at what looked like a luminescent crepe. He glanced at a shell-shocked Dick and frowned.
“Please eat. It's safe to consume, now that you’re one of us. If you’re worrying about your job, don’t. You have been assigned an excellent mentor in Harker. The White Grim will train you well.”
With that, he dug in, clearly enjoying his glowing crepe.
Dick just stared at the man, at his no longer injured arm, and sighed. Might as well eat. He hadn’t gotten to eat anything at the cafe and was beginning to feel hungry.
He scooped a spoonful from what seemed like an overly fancy bowl of cereal.
One of them huh?
He took a bite.

Realms are wider than one thinks.
Idea
Disclaimer: I know very little about Hazbin Hotel and the other series.
The Hell is very overpopulated. Nothing helps. The Happy/Hazbin Hotel had some success but not enough to make a big difference. The Heaven's attempts didn't bring any desirable results either.
Lucifer and Charlie were sitting in his throne room when a glowing teenager looking soul appeared.
A... Ghost?! Those haven't been seen there for a long while now!
Lucifer is curious.
"Hi, hello," the kid opened his mouth, seemingly unbothered by the presence of the Ruler.
"So, let's get this ball rolling. I'm King Phantom, defeater Pariah, Protection Spirit and all that jazz. I'm here because I'm currently working through the backlog of work left by my predecessor and it seems that this particular afterlife is suffering quite a bit."

Babysitting duty calls, Klarion
It another world threatening battle for the justice league, young justice against the league of Villains and chaos children before most of the chaos children froze as if they sense something bad was approaching and immediately dipped out.. except klarion whom was fighting with raven who immediately froze up too late in front of the portal.
Only for a green portal to appear, as a worned out floating glowing green, but blue skinned teenage boy who turn into a man with red eyes, a clock staff in hand and a glowing white hair baby in a baby carrier.
Klarion is literally struggling like a feral cat who got wet in cold water against some invisible force speaking in some odd static like language before giving up after half a minute when the man spoke back with a short word.
The man now just shape-shifting into turn elderly just gave klarion the baby carrier before noticing how the heroes and villains have stop in mid battles looking at both klarion and him.
"All in soon time, but be warn Flashes whom break the laws of times will get their due if you keep messing with the past and future." Spoken the elderly now shape-shifted into a young boy before he turn back to klarion leaving him a note and glowing baby bag before floating back into the swirling green portal.
Klarion could only look at note with his eye twitching, Teekl meowing as she climb into the baby carrier purring around the glowing baby.
"Why do I keep getting babysitting duty, it so unfa-..." klarion grumbled as he pick up the baby carrier and bag teleporting away..
....
....
....
"What just happened?" Said Dick whom only one question would be put on hold til later in the watchtower of what just happen before the fight resuming with the young and original justice league winning since the league of Villains were distracted.

A Refuge in the Afterlife?
DPxDC Crossover prompt
One day a message from space is sent to Earth, a call for assistance for the last survivors of a destroyed planet. The Justice League, of course, receive this message and a Team sets out to make contact with the group, ready to offer them whatever supplies they need and perhaps a location to rehome themselves.
Among this team would be one of the Green Lanterns, Guy or Hal, who are of course curious about why this group sought out Earth specifically instead of reaching out to the Corps? The answer to that question being quite simple:
To save the souls of their dead.
As it turns out, with the destruction of their Home World the survivors believe that not only are they at risk of becoming lost souls upon their own deaths, but the very Afterlife dimension that was attached to their world is at risk of ceasing to exist unless they find another world whose Afterlife can take theirs in as well, combing the two as one.
And wouldn't you know it, the surviving priests and/or mystics have received word from their endangered Ancestors that the Earth has a King of the Infinite Realms who may be willing to do just that. Once they reach the planet, they would be so grateful if the Justice League would be willing to help them petition this King for asylum for their people, both dead and alive.
The only problem?
This is the first time anybody from the League has even heard of this so-called King, and now everybody's scrambling to find out whatever they can about this being. And what little they are finding is nothing short of alarming. A mad tyrant who tried to invade the living world?! Yeah, they need to get on top of this fast, before the Refugees arrive!
Meanwhile, Danny just felt a shiver run up his spine and wonders if it's because his dad's latest batch of fudge came out a little too ecto-contaminated.
(Spoilers: it wasn't the fudge).
My personal Head-canon when it comes to the infinite Realms: the reason why we don't see any other religious figures or alien beings, is because Pariah Dark screwed up relations so bad with the other afterlife realms that the infinite realms has become largely cut off from everything else but Earth. Too much greed and trying to conquer shit to be considered a good neighbor, even by demon standards. Doesn't even matter that Pariah's been sealed away, it's still his dimension as long as he exists, and the absolutely hostile environment and denizens there prove it.
The word of today that inspired this post is Syncretism: (via wikipedia) the practice of combining different beliefs and various schools of thought. Syncretism involves the merging or assimilation of several originally discrete traditions, especially in the theology and mythology of religion, thus asserting an underlying unity and allowing for an inclusive approach to other faiths.

Danny sighed as he saw another of the League of Hypocrites coincidentally walking into the room with him and Uncle Connie. Was them leaving him alone too much to ask? Did he need to put up with another insincere apology from the group looking for a more permanent attack dog?
Danny knew they weren't apologising because they felt bad, quite the opposite. Some of these individuals were very haunted and more than a few of their ghosts didn't like the one they were bound to. They were perfectly willing to report what they were saying when they thought no one could hear them. Many were irritated at Danny. How dare he refuse to help them, didn't he know everything they did was for the greater good? Sure, apparently they did something to earn his ire but no one knew what it was. It probably wasn't that big a deal anyway and they were certain they had a reason for whatever happened. And wasn't that boy arrogant, all that power and refusing to dedicate his life to helping others like a good person would. Maybe they should keep a close eye on this contact of Constantine's, everyone knows his people are shady.
Danny had heard it all and oh did their arrogance bug him. This little League of theirs had gone so long being the big boys, had been told for so long that they were good, moral and just they had come to believe they could do no wrong. At least some of them. Pride choked him whenever he had to spend extended periods of time around the idiots and the half-ghost could not wait until his honorary Uncle had used up all of the official favours Danny owed him. He would happily leave them to deal with their own messes after that.
He continued on with his work pinpointing the source of the incomplete resurrections, or as everyone else was calling it the zombie apocalypse which was extremely overdramatic for a few measly corspes that couldn't even run, as one of the idiots dithered behind him. He didn't even know the name of this one but it wasn't worth learning. He wouldn't be here for long anyway.
Danny walked off to compare his findings with John as whatever-their-name-is opened their mouth to speak, be it to apologise or repremand him as both had happened over his unhappy stay with this lot, no matter what it was he didn't want to hear it.
Two more favours left and considering the rate they were being used he wouldn't need to deal with this lot for much longer. Danny gestured to the skeleton form of his sister to join him as he wandered to the other side of the room.
Villains had discovered the Leagues ineptitude when it came to dealing with the undead and were taking full advantage. The amount of death magic incidents had spiked, which was probably why they were trying to create bond and convince him to stay. The living couldn't deal with this magic, it was toxic to those who weren't born with an affinity and ironically the halfa was always capable of handling death magic. His ease with it had apparently only grown with his death, at least according to the denizens of the Realms. Anyone else who came into contact with it would die at best, be driven mad or worse.
Sadly for them there were no other people in this dimension with the ability to stand it. He knew, he had checked. Danny, Vlad and his sister were the only ones born recently with the affinity and according to Clockwork no one else would be born for around 700 years. Even Ellie couldn't handle much, hence her many issues, and required intervention from the king of the dead to stabilise. No mortal could impart such a thing and Danny certainly wouldn't give anyone such a blessing. Too bad so sad, Danny's ability to care had faded with his family. These dumbasses deserved it anyway and he was certain he could grab John and keep him safe if needs be. It wasn't like this was apocalypse level danger anyway, just a few shambling corpses, and the villains who were invoking them would begin dropping like flies soon enough. Toxic magic after all. The amount of zombies and other undead would be finite as those with magic learnt to leave necromancy alone.
He simply had to put up with them for a little bit more, then he could leave the hypocrites alone.
The Necromancer
DP x DC Prompt inspired by 'The Ghost Warlock' on A03 by Cas3_Blanca
The Justice League has been dealing with matters related to the Undead recently. And JLD could barely handle the undead. That is until Constantine had called in a favor from someone he knew. A young man in a black trench coat with a skeleton following him everywhere, that skeleton had a burned headband on it.
The young man is a necromancer, and he is very good at handling the matters of the undead. He just has a bit of disdain for the Justice League and keeps to himself whenever he is around any Justice League member. The only person he seems to trust is Constantine, as he doesn't even interact with the rest of the JLD members. The young man had told them that he's only helping because he owed Constantine quite a few favors, and once Constantine used up all those favors on helping the Justice League, he's done with them, which means he'll leave the Justice League and Justice League Dark to deal with the undead.
Danny's life was as good as it could get. His parents had accepted him as Phantom, Clockwork assured Danny that he doesn't have to be the Ghost King just yet, his grades are steadily rising, and he is scheduling fights with his Ghostly Rogues.
That is until the GIW had shown up again. They were in the process of isolating Amity when the entire city fought back against them.
There were a few casualties, which mostly consisted of people Danny is close to. His parents, Jazz, Sam, Tucker, Valerie, Dash, Mr. Lancer and Star had perished during the struggle, and only those close to Danny hadn't become Ghosts. There wasn't enough to recover from them. Danny only has a few things to remember them by. His mom's Goggles, his dad's fudge recipe, Sam's bracelet, Tucker's PDA, and Valerie's earrings. Jazz was the only one to be buried, as she still had a body that wasn't vaporized.
He tried looking for Dani and Vlad but learned from Technus that they were captured and ended by the GIW. Now, the only person he has to lean on is his "Uncle" Constantine.
Constantine has helped Danny many times during his first years as Phantom. That's why Danny owes Constantine so many favors. He had tried to call help from the Justice League whenever Constantine wasn't around, but he was just brushed off. Hence why he doesn't like helping the Justice League's undead problems. He had also asked Technus to put his information and anything else related to him under lock and key. He doesn't want the Justice League to access and have files of his information. He's got Jazz's skeleton with him because he's taken up the role of Ghost King, and it came with Pariah's ability to raise a skeleton army if need be, but he only uses it on Jazz and other nearby buried bodies to help him deal with undead that aren't Ghosts. He also doesn't want to show his Ghostly half to the Justice League.
He's gotten quite good at hiding his mental presence from the Martians on the Justice League, but some of his emotions and thoughts slipped through. Now, the Justice League is being annoying to him by trying to apologize to him for whatever it is they did to him so they could still rely on him for any undead related issues.

mmm throwaway conversation between Dan and Danny that popped into my head that I had to write out:
"You spent ten years being a one-man mass extinction event, then went back in time and fought me, and lost." Danny snarls, arms crossed and throat tight. His mouth pulls back to bare dagger-sharp teeth, and his eyes burn with the familiar thrum of ectoplasm heating up behind his eyes. "If I didn't believe you were half of Vlad before, I do now."
His other self -- and really, can he even call him that? He's half of Vlad too. Two halves severed from each other and welded together to make a new whole, -- snaps his head over to him. Wild-eyed and furious, he looks unlike the man Danny fought before, the one unruffled and untouched, unbothered by the world around him. It's familiar, but not like the way a reflection is.
"What's that supposed to mean." The Other hisses, matching Danny's scowl one-for-one with fangs much bigger and sharper than his.
But there's a reason lions fear hyenas. Danny matches the rumble in The Other's chest with one of his own, and shoves his face close to his. "I don't lose."

Beloved Beyond Time
A DeadSerious Prompt where a young Damian follows his mother's advice about finding his future 'Beloved' and is smitten with a TimeTraveling Ghost King (Prince) Danny when his grandfather summoned the eldritch being.
Damian, despite being young, will want no other to be by his side once he takes over the League. Especially since the King was able to strike fear in his grandfather for even just for a moment.
Danny, whose just started taking up his soon to be Kingly title and duties, at first freaked out when a kid who just got out of toddlerhood is offering marriage. Who wouldn't. And well while he didn't fully encourage it, he found it a little adorable and tried to nudge the kid away from said... err crush feelings?
He was a little sad to have to say goodbye to the kid when his month long stay with the al Ghul's (mostly to see if they're worthy to keep the Pits) he was pretty for sure he'd never run into the kid again and if he did who knows how old they'd actually be because again.. time travel.
So Danny now at the age of 16 really wasn't expecting to be basically be cornered on his first day at his new school at Gotham Academy by a 17 year old Damian Wayne who is leaning over him and says "Hello Beloved. Time has been kind to you it seems."
Danny's poor half-alive heart is currently dying from being cornered by an older Damian.
Let this crazy train wreck begin.
#danny phantom#danny fenton#blue rambles#crossover#writing ideas#random idea#danny phantom dc#dpxdc#dcxdp#dead serious#Damian sneaked into a League meeting when they summoned the Ghost King#but they actually got the Ghost Prince who was learning how to handle realm duties at the time#but Danny doesn't tell them that. Also they summoned him when he was practicing his eldritch form. So yeah he scared them.#Danny actually scared Ra's into submission by threatening his precious Lazarus Pits since he was going to be forced to stay for a month#Danny actually and sadly can't do much to the Pits. Its been there for so long the world would start to become unstable if he took them away#He can heal people who have been effected by it though#Anyways this is another thing Ra's doesn't actually need to know if Danny has anything to say about it#Damian is a smitten kitten by the being who managed to strike fear in his grandfather#and decides only the Ghost King was worthy of becoming his Beloved#During the month he tries to get Danny to agree to their impending marriage#Danny freaks at first but finds it a little adorable and never really takes it seriously#he does try to reason with Damian about how it wont work but the boy is stubborn#Damian does worm a spot in Danny's heart though by being stubbornly adorable#When the month is up. Damian swears to a fading Danny he will marry him in the future#Danny returns to his own time and thinks thats the end of that.#A few weeks later he finds out that someone as a joke signed him up for an exchange student program and that he was picked to go to Gotham#Damian has NEVER forgotten the one he calls Beloved#and has drawn him. Many times. In Eldritch form. Ghost King form. Little Man form. Phantom form. EVEN his human form only Damian knew of.#So when Damian spots Danny. He knows who he is.#Damian is gonna try to channel his mother's abilities in seduction to woo his Beloved

The King's last gift
Danny was tired, tired of being responsible for protecting the world. At first it was just Amity but the ghosts began to explore more and the halfa was exhausted. He was the only hero available and it was taking its toll.
He knew he couldn't go on like this, let alone with his coronation around the corner but he didn't know what else to do. He knew he couldn't interfere with the world after the crown was on his head. The world would fear him (maybe even more than now) and protecting them with so much power in hand could do more harm than good, but if he didn't protect them, who would?
His core ached at the thought of all those people begging for a hero who wouldn't come, so Danny took desperate measures, and cheated a little.
He visited Desiree; she watched him with a raised eyebrow, curious. And Danny did what he forbade long ago, he wished. He wished for the future and for humanity itself, he uttered the words he had wanted to say ever since he knew he would not be able to visit earth for a long time.
"I wish for the world to be safe even when I no longer live in it, I wish for there to be someone who can protect it, even if it's just a human."
Desiree blinked in surprise not expecting the King who had "forbidden" her to do such a thing. She smiled and nodded. Her power grew exponentially but neither she nor Danny said anything about it. The halfa would not undo that wish after all.
In New Jersey, Thomas and Martha Wayne were celebrating the birth of their son. Neither of them noticed the spark of magic entering the baby, nor the boy's unusually blue eyes. Bruce Wayne, the Ghost King's latest gift to mankind, had been born.
And years later, when the Justice League was formed and everyone was talking to each other, John Constantine looked at the dark knight curiously, wondering if he was aware that he was death's favorite.
