I was thinking about the fact that with most DCMK characters I use one distinct name for them, but when it comes to Haibara Ai / Miyano Shiho, I'm all over the place. So I wanted to see how other people most commonly refer to her.

There are definitely more options than just these listed but I didn't want to get too verbose / granular. Please feel free to elaborate in the tags to account for my exclusions.

“Why is life so lifey?” You asked as you walked through your apartment and flopped down beside your husband. An amused smile graced his face as he watched you. “Some context may help.”

A heavy sigh fell from your lips as you looked up at him. “I’m so stressed and I know I’m stressed which is making me stress more. Not to mention the stress headaches that are plaguing my every thought and intensifying my stress.”

Seth gave you a sympathetic smile in response and massaged your head a little. “Go lay on your stomach on the bed but don’t use any blankets.” He spoke softly.

“What?” You asked confused at his sudden prompt.

The thought of relief perked you up a little bit. After you laid down Seth told you to breathe in and breathe out and started giving you the best massage of your life.

“Y’know if this whole hockey thing doesn’t work out you could totally be a masseuse.”

Seth laughed at your suggestion “thanks I’ll update my resume after this.”

Seth winced as he felt a knot and how swollen your shoulder was. “Babe you’re still really tense try to relax some.”

His words made you realize how much tension you had been holding. You took another deep breathe and released some of the tension as Seth worked on your shoulder.

Seth started talking about some of his latest experiences with the team. He noticed you hadn’t responded in a while. Your steady breathing and silence suggested you had fallen asleep.

He looked at you and saw that you were smiling while you slept. Seth smiled to himself that he could ease some of your tension and stress. You did the same for him most of the time and he felt useful knowing he could provide for you the way you did for him.

You stirred in your sleep a little as he laid down beside you. He gently shushed you and once he knew you were still asleep he fell asleep beside you.

for context jack is a jerk so a lot of the times he only does favours in exchange for kidneys... unfortunately most people say no and do not offer up a kidney, but a few of them do! (jack paints his ask as a joke, so he's pleasantly surprised when someone agrees.) these twelve are perfectly fine, for sure... (jack wasn't fine. slenderman yelled at him.) (he proceeded to take more kidneys after that lecture.)

No exactly!!!!! I already knew that I started liking being femme because people liked me, my first love really liked me like that, ever since I’ve chasing that high of praise and stayed mostly for the safety part. I had to really distance myself from anything masculine so I wouldn’t get “confused”. I’ve had my phases of going trans and feeling like I could only be masculine if I was dissociated. I was forced to feel disgusting of myself when I wore something masculine or even behaved masculinely. I’d genuinely cry for catching my mannerisms. I’d train in front of a mirror to behave femininely. Really I always hated femininity, I was just treated like I wanted to be treated and I crashout when I don’t get that validation, I just go back to being masculine and dissociate, not actually see myself okay in that masculinity though I knew it was closer to who I was. I was taught to hate that and to fix that. I burn out when I’m not liked as a femme because I’m doing all this just for you, why can’t you like me or praise me or at the very least compliment me??? It was really my only drive. I now really need to sit down with myself and listen closely. I’m a woman who wants to have little to no chest and maybe daydream about looking like a guy without giving up myself as a woman. Do you all realize how horrible that’d be for my family? How even once I step out of my bedroom in my masculine confidence I start to shake out of fear even though I’m still kinda femme??? I know my core is masculine asf. I hate this world. I really do. I’m tired of performing. I’m so tired of it. Everyone notices I perform, it’s just obvious how forced it is. I felt so less of a girl and a woman. Out of all the dumbass shit transandrophobes say to us, the one that actually makes me guffaw is “masculinity is rewarded” LMMMMAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOO WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!? My entire life has consisted of people trying to force me to be as feminine as possible and whenever I’m masculine, treating me like shit. It was so bad at a certain point that I gave up presenting masculinely at all and started to present in a hyper feminine way. That time in my life was deeply traumatic and involved me suppressing my tranness, distancing myself from it as much as possible.

So many of you fail to understand that femininity and masculinity are only rewarded when they enforce the gender binary. Masculinity is not universally rewarded. Not only is it not universally rewarded, but it can put people at higher risk for violence if they’re perceived as gender nonconforming (ie: trans man who doesn’t pass, butches, transmasc lesbians, etc). I’m sick of people acting like it’s not deeply traumatic for trans men to have to deal with femininity being forced onto us.

How did your upstairs neighbor CAUSE two men to break in?????

this story is both sillier and more of an accident than i made it sound, i promise!

two pieces of context:

our unit and the upper unit share a landing. there are more stairs past the door for the upper unit, but from the outside they look like they're on the same level.

my spouse and i were, at the time, very freshly moved in to our current apartment. unbeknownst to us, when the previous tenants locked up on their way out, they left the last key on the windowsill of the aforementioned landing.

so, late on a weekend night, our upstairs neighbor had a birthday party. two of her friends, slightly-drunk early 20-somethings, showed up to this birthday party at 2:30 am. being as they were slightly drunk and in their early 20s, when faced with the conundrum of which of the two doors in front of them belonged to their friend, they tried one door. it was locked. rather than proceeding to try the second door, they said, surely this must be a mistake. let's look around for clues! point-and-click game style, they said, aha!

now, by this point, meg and i had been woken up by the sounds of two drunk guys debating what to do while rattling our doorknob in the wee hours of the morning. i got up to see what was going on, just in time to hear the deadbolt turn and see the door open.

please recall, i had just been woken up at 2:30am. i'm a notorious night owl, but working a 9-5 for the past 2 years has thrown me off my game. toss in the insomnia medication i've been acclimating to for a couple of months, and i was in a state of such delirious confusion that all i could think as i saw a 6-foot-tall smiling stranger open the door to my home was "it would be super weird for the maintenance guy to show up at this time of night, right?"

so all i could say, as a second young man appeared behind the shoulder of the first, was. "what?" and then, as if in explanation, one of them said "we're with them," pointing to the invisible party around the corner. and then i said, using the skills of elocution i'm so lauded for, "what?"

one second after that, the penny visibly dropped. they both backed out, apologizing profusely and looking more mortified than i'd ever seen anyone look (and i used to teach literature to undergrads, so i know from embarrassed 20-year-olds). i gently closed the door on a harmonizing chorus of "we're SO stupid," propped a chair in front of it in case there were any more confused partygoers, and went back to bed.

anyway, the next morning i politely texted my upstairs neighbor to ask what the fuck and/or shit happened—i wasn't mad! i was just worried there was something wrong with the deadbolt, because we had a laundry list of maintenance issues that were getting addressed that monday—and she was deeply apologetic as well. and then last week she asked if i could feed her cat for a week in july, and i was like, yeah sure.

Small, fast thumps and a blur of white hair announces a little girl’s return from school.

“Whoa, cutie. Slow down.” Rafayel intercepts Aurora mid-sprint, scooping her up into a princess carry. 

She lets out a giggle, twitching in his grasp as he nuzzles into her tummy.

Xavier drops onto the grey plush of the couch, groaning. “How is she so hyper when it's so hot outside?” 

“I’m just happy!” She beams, escaping Rafayel’s hold.

“You’re lucky that my mission ended early, Xavier.” Caleb calls out from the doorway, watching her run to him. “And you’re extra lucky that I showed up with the car. Otherwise, you would’ve had to walk in that heat with her.” He smirks, Aurora now helping him pull off his boots.

“Thanks.” Xavier mumbles. He then directs his voice at Aurora, “Alright. No more running around. You’re sweaty all over."

"He's right." Caleb agrees. "Let’s put you in the shower and you’ll feel great, okay?”

“Nope.” She pops the ‘p’ cheekily and zips past him, towards the stairs.

“Come on. Please?" Xavier slumps into the softness. "Daddy doesn’t want to play chasey today.”

Rafayel shifts off the sofa. “I’ll take her. I need to take a bath too. Let’s go, cutie.” 

“Nooo." She stomps. "I already did a shower this morning!”

An arm whisks Aurora a few feet in the air. Her legs flail around as she is pulled into a familiar hold. A deep voice chuckles, “Hello to you too, Kitten.” 

“Oh, she must’ve woken you up.” Caleb sympathises. “Listen to us, Pip.”

“Not quite.” Sylus sighs. “I have a business meeting to attend in two hours, so I was bound to get up soon.” He ruffles her hair with his other hand. “Rafayel. Take her uniform off of her.”

Rafayel makes quick work of it while she pouts. “I’m not sweaty!” 

As she protests, a pale green object slips out her fingers and spirals to the ground. 

She momentarily forgets about the shower, looking straight down.

“NOOOO! My ring!”

“Your ring?" Rafayel pauses mid-lift of her shirt at the outburst, raising an eyebrow. "What ring?”

“You don’t have a ring.” Sylus states. “Do you want one, Kitten?”

“What a strange way to ask for a ring.” Caleb expresses.

Aurora gets confused. ”What?…I already have a ring! It fell out of my hand.” She points at the floor. “Stooooop! You’re gonna step on it!” Squirming in Sylus’ hold, she bites his arm, making him reluctantly let her go.

She picks it up, cradling it in her hand.

A bright, golden-yellow flower sits on top of a green, stem ring.

She slips it on her finger.

“It really is a ring.” Xavier comments, resting his chin on the edge of the sofa, peering at the outburst.

“Yeah…” Aurora holds her hand out in front of her, admiring it. “My boyfriend gave it to me.”

…

Silence.

The front door clicks open.

A black-haired man with a tall, white coat walks in. 

“Why is it… so quiet?” His golden eyes narrow. “What broke? Who’s injured?” 

Caleb’s voice is deceptively calm. “You have a boyfriend?” 

“That’s not possible! You’re too young!” Rafayel exclaims, prying her fingers open to examine the ring.

“Who is your boyfriend, Aurora?” Sylus asks, tone flat.

Zayne simply chuckles, already sensing what’s coming.

She giggles. “Daniel gave this to me. His dad taught him how to make it.” 

“No way!” Xavier bursts. “Daniel? As in that bakery guy’s son?” 

Sylus huffs. “You still have a grudge on Charlie?”

“Princess.” Xavier stands up, making his way to Aurora, effectively ignoring Sylus. “This Daniel boy isn’t good. His dad tried to take mummy away from me. I told you, remember?”

“Buttttt, he’s so nice. He plays with me at the park all the time.” She sways side to side.

Caleb chuckles. “Are you for real, Xavier?”

“I am.” He rolls his eyes. “Charlie tried to steal my wife. And now his son is trying to steal my baby. It’s generational treason.” 

“If Xavier is this fired up, then something’s off.” Rafayel mutters. “Sorry, cutie.” He begins dramatically, “No blessing from me. I do not approve of this relationship.” He holds his hand out, palm waiting. “Come on now, pass me the ring.”

“No way!”

Zayne snorts.

“She probably doesn’t even know what ‘boyfriend’ means.” Sylus states at the two guys.

Zayne inquires. “Sweetie. What does ‘boyfriend’ mean?”

“Pfft. It means...he’s my friend, who's a boy!”

She crosses her arms, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

…

A beat.

The corner of Zayne’s lips curls up. "I thought so." He mumbles, pushing up his glasses.

Then Caleb breaks.

He lets out a deep laugh, one hand covering his face.

Sylus chuckles alongside him.

“What’s so funny!?” Aurora grumbles. 

Rafayel turns away and scoffs, concealing a sheepish smile and blushed cheeks.

Xavier lets out a breath and plops back on the couch, an arm over his face. It fails to hide his red-tinted ears.

“This isn’t funny!”

“Yes yes, Pip.” Caleb smiles at her. “Off you go to the shower.”

Later, the ring was somehow crushed under Xavier’s foot.

“Oops.”

Aurora stares in betrayal. “You stepped on it! On purpose!”

“I didn’t see it.”

“You’re lying.” She growls. Jumping onto his back, her forearms wrap around his neck.

He smirks, nuzzling into her hold like it’s a hug. “I didn’t say I wasn’t.” 

“Fine! I’ll ask him for another one.” Xavier starts choking.

“Nuh uh, cutie.” Rafayel approaches her with a menacing grin. “No, you won’tttt.” And he tickles the thought away.

DUMB@$$ DELTARUNE 3&4 (really dumb) WHAT IFS

these are in no way directly related but basically dumb thoughts I had that since I have poor story writing skills (like I can conceptualize a story but I can’t describe an environment or write dialogue which is 2/3rds of any good story (only half if you include art as well I mean I have decent art skills… but it’s a kindergartener’s drawing in comparison to most art on here )

the point is I’m putting ideas here (some of which others may have also come up with but I’m putting my own spin on it )

spoilers ahead (while most who see this probably have played both new chapters and don’t care. Just in case.)

-Toriel wakes up early in chapter 3. V1:

this version has her wake up during the Tenna boss fight and that’s a whole confrontation as the tv with abandonment issues is losing his mind

-Toriel wakes up early. V2:

this one has her wake up relatively early in chapter so The $#@* Squad/Fun Gang/Lancer Fan Club & Tenna (separately but they both do it) kinda try to keep the whole “end of the world / the knight wants to kidnap you + your divorce & abandonment of me has caused me a ton of issues” thing(s) away from Toriel (meanwhile literally everyone else there (anyone who isn’t the 3 heroes & Tenna) doesn’t care and tells her anyway ) meanwhile Toriel is just confused, curious & kinda worried that her own TV got issues from her (and the others but they aren’t here right now )

-Tenna burns a woody doll (expy) at the stake.

-Gerson ends up in castle town:

(the old man is too powerful to be bound by death & a mere meta video game’s depressing story progression )

-Susie takes Tenna “home” with her instead:

(I know I know Mettaton & Tenna is a whole thing but while we haven’t seen Susie’s house in canon yet. it can’t be a good place from the context clues hidden in some of her actions & dialogue throughout the chapters (as faking calling home isn’t normal (plus a bunch of other things but this isn’t about that (well this part is but not this whole post ) so that’s a thing and a half alone let alone if a fan made dark fountain appeared

-Jackenstein shows up again/survives:

(as from what I saw after he disappears he doesn’t show up again but isn’t directly stated to have died and while this could be a thing in a later chapter … 🤷)

-the soul ditches kris to possess noelle instead:

(as in a pacifist or neutral route the soul wouldn’t like being beaten up for trying to prevent the end of the world & everyone in it & just being curious in general. or for a snowgrave version, the soul decides it’s a better course of action instead of using kris (sure there’s the whole “your choices don’t matter but the game itself talks about you as if your kris and kris is you. so what if it’s “Kris’s choices don’t matter “ & not “the soul/player’s choice don’t matter” ) )

-noelle decides for whatever reason to visit Kris’s house in the middle of the night:

and therefore ends up in TV world (aka a reason for Tenna to get depressed again & dess is mentioned )

-Susie stumbles upon something she shouldn’t have…:

aka she ends up unintentionally watching kris play the hidden game and sees the snowgrave route portrayed (especially the ��used up” scene ) and/or sees kris rip the soul out at the end of chapter 2 and is too stunned/shocked to do anything about it and doesn’t bring it up directly

-ralsei & Toriel meet and that’s pretty self explanatory

-Toriel wakes up early V3: she wakes up somepoint early in the chaoter but separate from kris, Tenna & the others & ends up going on her own adventure (kinda like the second one but without kris & the others there to give even more focus on Toriel meeting the tv world darkness (minus Tenna)

-the soul copy pastes Kris’s code into a genocide route in undertale to let them kill sans:

(meanwhile frisk+chara+the undertale player (its a mix of players being legitimate players in a game + being outerworldly beings so yeah. Multiple ) are just watching in confusion as a teenager kills sans on their own as another soul just floats there menacingly )

-since Gerson is technically a lightner reborn as a darkner he doesn’t have a theme… so potentially like ralsei couldn’t he potentially go anywhere (ignoring what ralsei said about reborn lightners turned darkners needing very specific conditions to even form cause gersons just too OP for that):

so basically (ignoring what I said in another post about something keeping the dark sanctuaries separate from the other dark worlds ) Gerson gets to be OP everywhere in every chapter

-Queen sees noelles search history:

(technically a chapter 2 one but I’m surprised nobody else had this idea) basically queen ships Susie & noelle meanwhile berdly is berdly & ralsei is confused by most of berdly’s even saying (meanwhile meanwhile kris is eating moss in a dark alley )

-asgore shows up in chapter 3 when he finds Toriel left something of hers behind (technically another attempt but she did legitimately leave something at the church (before chapter 4. I know it’s at the church but -) (this one would technically have to wait for chapter 5 as that one’s implied to be the asgore chapter but it’s mainly chapter 3 so 🤷

-something something Elnina & Lanino (and potentially roulxs) related:

no explanation needed here (well maybe one is needed but assuming this gets atleast 7 hearts/likes/whatever tumblr calls em. in 2 days I’ll reblog this with the explanation added )

hi! I was curious as to what the context for your most recent A-Listers Danny Phantom art post was about. I was a little confused (even though it looks AMAZING) and was wondering if you could give me your yaps about the context of that scene! :D

So so so sorry for how late this reply is! I've been insanely dead on social media for the past however long. 

Thank you so much! To be honest, I didn't really set anything in stone for what exactly was happening in this scene. My thought process was just wanting to do something angsty about the A-listers since I thought they were kinda underutilized and had a lot of potential in the secret identity/double life aspect of the show (my absolute favorite part of superheroes that I think has unfortunately declined in usage as of late).

There's also something so deliciously juicy about those who worshipped and relied heavily on their protector now having to protect him, and something so cathartic about the bullies having to fear their victim when the power dynamic switches. You can just hear them thinking, "What's going on? Is he possessed/overshadowed? What is he going to do when he finds us?" Maybe even apologizing to him in their heads for every wrong they've ever inflicted on him in the hopes that Danny would take mercy on them.

So yeah, I don't really have an explanation for what's happening. Could be a shapeshifter, or something similar to what Poindexter did, or maybe that dreamcatcher. Maybe its a Corpse AU and some other ghost took over his body while he was out of it. I do think the intrigue is in not knowing exactly what's going on, so you're in the headspace of the characters, so that's what I'll leave you with. I do really like the implication though of this situation absolutely eviscerating Danny's social life and standing after it's all over to the point where people are scared of his human persona now; very angsty.

I do hope to make more A-lister content in the future someday, since I think they're so interesting from the secret identity/double life standpoint. There's just so much content there like, for example, them being weirdly unnerved by these spooky little quirks that the wimp seems to unknowingly exhibit, them finding some things about the ghost boy familiar and yet not being able to put a finger on why, Danny finding out more about his bullies from the perspective of someone whom they are willing to be vulnerable with, etc., all of course underscored by the tension of the "will they won't they" find out.

Reading TGCF: Extra 2, Chapter 137

#nine worlds #i love that we know all these things... but not how any of that works #why did he work for 1000 years on the government but is less than 60 years old? read on until page 300 something (probably) to find out #i love the way hote handles exposition ... by not having any #you get information when it's relevant for the character and not a moment sooner #also... that information is just as likely to be unreliable as not #because there is no omniscient author voice to tell you for example that 'the fall was caused by x' #the characters have explanations for what caused it... but are any of them correct? you just don't know

prev putting your tags on blast because YES its this exactly... i really love the way the nine worlds books do exposition, especially considering the massive amount of history and pre-knowledge our characters have to catch the reader up on, because i think it's a really hard balance to strike but its done so so well. you learn stuff not as the character learns them, but as they think about it, and in the same way they think about it, too (which is how kip manages to get away with playing the sensible bureaucrat for a good couple chapters of hote, despite already mentioning all his mad escapades— he doesn't think of them as mad!!) it's easy, in a big complex universe our protagonists are already acquainted with, to give too little information and confuse the reader or to go the other way and end up with lots of exposition before anything can happen (the second is better than the first, tbf, and if your protagonist [see: el higgins] is entertaining enough its certainly not an immediate con) but the nine worlds book manage to walk the line of giving us Just enough information to survive the scene and it is SO fun!! + the... if not outright unreliability, but patchiness of the information that we're getting means you get to piece together the fuller context of what's actually happening, and even more fun, what it actually Means. really good

i mean im kinda torn on this since sabretooth 2022 + sabretooth and the exiles did have some good moments. its just the ending and everything that happened after that was. weird. and off.

so maybe before the pit, the clone was doing some Evil clone stuff, but being in the pit triggered some genuine memories for the clone, allowing for it to have a brief period of victors actual self. then, by the end of sabretooth and the exiles, that wore off, and he reverted back to normal Evil clone. that would also give a good reason for the brief moments in sabretooth war that felt ‘real’ being at the same time he was remembering things, his actual self slipping through again. fuck now im feeling kinda bad for this hypothetical sabretooth clone…..

meanwhile, the real sabretooth(inverted) is chilling at home, watching this go down from the outside. cuz like, lets be real, his friends wouldnt just leave him in that reverted state at the end of weapon x 2017. they would absolutely kick some ass in order to get him back to normal. and i bet it was weird for him to hear about the graydon thing too, seeing as hes now got a solid relationship with his own graydon.

oh. and ben percys wolverine is totally a clone too. cuz he just seems so different from the wolverine in infinity watch.

and the real ones are definitely living together.

anyway, extra -> tbh the whole percy run feels like an au to me. mostly due to the way both of their memories are handled, wolverines especially, as shown in x lives / x deaths. its a mashup of a bunch of different wolverine runs, but with the authors own spin on them.

its kinda representative how every new wolverine run is like their own au, each author taking bits and pieces of canon as needed, but also slightly rewriting them to fit their personal take. bit like a game of telephone, plot points getting forgotten over time as new authors dont bring them along, and other authors ideas getting remixed. especially in the earlier days, when runs were way longer, plot points getting abandoned in their own run.

a good example of this comes from return of wolverine and infinity watch, which are both considered ‘canon’, but due to their length are never referenced again. and even though infinity watch is an immediate sequel to return of wolverine, the concept introduced in that run where wolverine has all the different versions and variants of wolverine in his head wasnt ever mentioned.

its like the previous stories set up new plots only for the future ones to drop them. like how weapon x 2017s ending of sabretooth being reverted back to a ‘feral’ state never gets elaborated on later, despite seeming like something that would lead into a new arc.

all different stories, all somehow labeled as canon.

He struggles through another wheezing breath, wincing at the familiar sensation of torn muscles around his rib cage. “Ah,” Checkered Shirt is saying. “There does seem to be a localized paralytic effect. That last placement may have been counterintuitive; my mistake. But as we discussed, that’s the beauty of mistakes in a setting like this. The opportunity to learn from them.” Tim tips his head. Clumsily spits a mouthful of blood on the metal floor—evidence, he thinks hazily, if he moves me—and finds his tongue. “Funny how you still haven’t gotten what you want,” he half-slurs, “considering how many opportunities you keep having.”
