Hey! Person from a country without jus soli here! I thought I'd add my own perspective on things.
Did you know that, even if you're born here, went to school here, worked here, and payed taxes here, you're not considered a citizen if both your parents are foreigners? If you're an immigrant, you need to have lived here for ten consecutive years before being allowed to apply for citizenship, or have been married to a citizen for at least three years - and even then, the legal procedures can take years, because the bureaucracy has been designed that way by racist politicians.
It's complicated enough that there are people in their 40s who are still waiting for their citizenship. We are talking about people who have worked in the country, paid taxes to the country, and lived in the country for well more than 10 years, who don't have the right to vote for people that will represent their best interests - because you need to be a citizen in order to vote.
You also have to take into consideration the fact that this lack of jus soli does nothing to stop immigration - and I do mean nothing. Most of the people who come here are extremely poor, and thus lack the means to sustain themselves for a time, which is one of the prerequisites for migrating here legally.
This means they're forced to undertake an incredibly dangerous journey - and I call it dangerous because it has killed thousands of people. And at the end, they're either rescued by a human's rights NGO organization (they're forbidden by law from operating in the area, and I'm 99% sure this law is a violation of international law), or they end up arriving and then being detained in 'National Centers', which are often overcrowded.
I don't even want to talk about that time the government made an agreement with another country - spending millions and building 'Immigrant Camps' in there, only for the first 'shipment' of people needing to turn back due to a logistical mistake.
So... yeah. As far as my experience goes, the people who oppose jus soli are either racist, or they hate poor people.
Most of the times, it's both.

#this precise issue is a huge problem in europe rn#and the permanent underclass it engenders is a demographic ripe for radicalization#which then just starts the cycle all over again
