Dungeon Meshi
Clouds continued to pass overhead; wind softly rustled the growth on the vines. The sound of a horse neighing came off from their left. For the first time, Aubina felt uncomfortable in Chilchucks presence. What was he going to say? Should she not have said yes to Falin’s request? “Good.” Chilchuck turned to her and smiled. A real, genuine smile that set her heart racing. “I can’t imagine being stuck in one location for so long without any ability to leave. You should go see the world out there.” “Chil…thank you.” Without thinking, she set her drink down and pulled him into a big hug. “Hey, wa-watch it!” Aubina realized what she was doing and quickly released him, sheepishly looking away to hide the heat rising on her face. “Sorry.” Chilchuck sighed. “It’s fine, took me by surprise is all. What are you thanking me for anyways?”
Stars that Burn
“The Shadowquarters, though it was not relayed where exactly they are.” The pilot rushed out the last of his words, raising his voice in order to reach Heinrix who was already on the move. The Shadow Quarters. The best worst kept secret in Footfall, where denizens of criminals and those who do not wish their actions to be noticed hide out. Many secret deals and trade of heretical items were done in that area. Heinrix’s quest to unearth the cultists led him there a few times, so it didn’t take long for him to find the entrance. The issue was going to be finding Lethyan and the others.

Into Tormentor’s Cove 🎃
The Autumn festivities were in full swing.
With the wind-down of operations at Laevenir, allies both old and new had arrived at the westward Ynnari haven of Springsong, Neni’Shelwe, in preparation for future campaigns; At the island fastness Yavannie, there was to be a feast in honor of the various emissaries present, including the highly anticipated scions of the Sunblitz Brotherhood and Eldritch Raiders.
All was set to begin as a slip of a ship came down beneath the starry night, settling on a platform high in the White Mountains. A welcoming party was already waiting.
Banners waved by the light of colorful lanterns as two figures stepped forth to address the new arrivals as they disembarked.
One was a woman clad in the blue of Iybraesil. She resembled Nenime, though her hair was shorter, and bound.
“Hail and well met, honored allies. I am the Steward Sulime Arenan,” the woman announced, “& this is Prince Mathlitas, of the Children of Mathlann.”
The other was a youth just recently come into maturity. His dark hair was tousled by the high breeze, but his was a noble bearing.
“Greetings,” the youth inclined his head; his silvery armor shimmered beneath a rich sea-green cloak. “It will be our privilege to see you safely to the celebrations.”
“Springsong welcomes you in the spirit of friendship,” finished Sulime Arenan. “I know my sister and I speak as one when I say we are overjoyed at your arrival.”

wip word train
rules: for each letter of the word, share an excerpt from a wip that starts with that letter.
tagged by @cawyden-gaming - thank you!!
W - "What exactly does the Inquisition hope to gain by seducing the Rogue Trader?"
"The Inquisition is attempting no such thing!" Looking away, Heinrix spoke more quietly. "My feelings for the Rogue Trader are entirely my own."
A - An agonizing jolt of pain wrenched her back into consciousness. It would have brought her to her knees if she hadn't already been sprawled face-down on the floor. Above her, the heretic drew back his boot for another kick.
R - The Rogue Trader knelt and began to strip one of the charred corpses. Behind her, the magos did the same, his mechadendrites moving with mechanical precision. Eyeing the remaining bodies, Heinrix selected one that looked to be about his size. When he bent to set about his grim task, the Rogue Trader glanced over at him. Heinrix met her gaze.
"I will be accompanying you."
S - She'd fallen asleep to the sounds of Abelard's semi-coherent mumbling, Jae's quiet cursing as she'd tossed and turned, Idira's delirious, inarticulate prophecies, the soft whirring of Pasqal's mechadendrites.
And when Tervanitas had finally let him go, she'd slept with Heinrix beside her.
next word: STAR

Saw @bnbc share for snippet sunday and since I've completed the first draft of chapter 1 for Lethyan and Heinrix, figured I would share a snippet too! So excited to get their story started :D. This scene is the set up to when they first meet and the mindset they are in as they deal with the rebellion/cultists on Rykid Minoris.
“There has been no report about any Inquisition agent on the ship. If I do hear anything, I will report it to you immediately.” Vox Master Vigdis pressed ahead. “The augurs will continue to search for any open vox channels or means of communicating with the Governor.” “Thank you Vigdis.” Lethyan closed the vox channel and continued to watch the darkness outside.   What was happening on Rykid Minoris? Could what have happened on the prison asteroid also have something to do with what was happening on the ship? They had made it out alive, along with Evayne and his men, from the prison and whatever chaos had infected the warden. But his words, what they were doing on the asteroid, made it clear that she and her crew needed to be on guard. Lethyan would make sure they were prepared. The weight of all those people looking up to her was overwhelming.
~
The governor’s guards kept themselves busy on their journey, cleaning or checking their weapons, whispering prayers to the God Emperor under their breath. Every so often one of them would glance his way. Then the waves of fear would come cascading off them. The chances of their survival were slim, and they knew it. It only took one glance for Heinrix to see that the guards the Governor had given him were as green as they come. Only their captain, an older man with graying hair and a stern expression, had shown the true respect his position held, the rest of them looking at him with fear or awe. Not many ever responded well to a member of the Inquisition requisitioning resources to fulfill their task. The governor was among them. He seethed when Heinrix told him what he needed and where he was going. With the rebels attacking the city, Heinrix could acknowledge the Governors concern and frustrations, but the orders were made and he begrudgingly obliged. Heinrix thanked him for his support and ordered the men to head out immediately. Enough time had already been wasted simply obtaining guards to accompany him on his mission.
