so glad you opened requests again! can I request an avengers x reader who has huge white wings ,but doesn't know how to fly ..maybe they found her in a hydra base locked in a cage, scarred and frightened and they took her in. thank you 💞
Hey Darling! Thank you sooo much for sending in a request and for being so patient! I really love this idea and I'll try my best to give it justice it deserves. I really hope you enjoy it ! Love you !
Alate
...............
Pairing: Avengers x Avenger! Reader
Warnings: Reader is traumatised, ANGSTY AF, Overprotective Bucky, OOC Stephen, Avenger Loki (I just love him OKAY !), Floof
Summary: “Man must rise above the Earth—to the top of the atmosphere and beyond—for only thus will he fully understand the world in which he lives.”– Socrates
...............
Alate; having wings or lifted up in flight.
Soaring she moved like the wind would. As if even the winged gods and angels followed her path. Legs dangling she watched the lit up city beneath her, recalling her past.
It had been a regular enough mission. Ambush, Steal Information and destroy base. Natasha, Scott, Steve, Wanda, Loki and Tony moved as the rest directed them through the ear piece in their ear. Scott had managed to break in first through the main door of the warehouse with Wanda following suit. Loki got Tony and Steve in through the back and Nat, well, she slithered in from the top. Then came the problem. The files weren't in the fucking warehouse but at least 30 Hydra Agents were. But then again it never was a big deal when you had even half a handful of superheroes and a villian turned vigilante inside together. 10 minutes and half were either dead or barely alive. Just when they were about to leave Tony noticed the basement. Scott was made to go first since he wouldn't be noticed by anyone. And he definately did not expect to see what he saw.
"I don't like this. Nope."
"What the hell are you talking about Lang ?"
"Get in here !"
"No you tell us what is going on !"
"THEY'VE KEPT THIS GIRL PRISIONER AND HER STATE DOES NOT LOOK GOOD. WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR BULLSHIT ONE OF YOU GET HER OUT !"
"...........Stark blast the door open..........."
"Don't have to say more Capsicle"
There was a boom and the lead door fell open, almost squashing Scott who yelled a 'watch it' before sizing up.
What they saw was what Peter would say ‘Does not pass the vibe check’
It was a metal box. Only the front covered with bulletproof glass, that was covered with perspiration and probably high amounts of dust. Chains made of lead bound her limbs. Her mouth was muzzled, hair matted, bruises and cuts everywhere, cloth covered something protruding from her back and it looked like it hurt. She cowered into a corner of the box, glaring at the newcomers, visibly terrified as her body trembled.
“What kind of -”
“Sick bastard ? Demon Spawn ?”, Tony continued for Natasha.
“We need to get her out of here”, Loki said grimacing at the way she was being treated.
“She won’t come with us voluntarily.....When, Pietro and I were being controlled by Hydra....We complied so we were never tied down like that.....But the stronger, dangerous ones are.....abused.....Brainwashing probably didn’t work on her....so they may have subdued her and she probably won’t react well to us....”, Wanda said. She felt sick to her stomach at the girl’s state. Old memories came rushing through.
Nat agreed, trying to figure out how to get the other out. They all stood there silently wracking their brains as Bucky and Sam who had stood guarding the outside came in because the others were taking too long.
“ We need to leave they probably called for back-”, Bucky stopped to look in the direction of the cell, “Y/N ??”, he looked shocked as he moved to touch the glass seperating the two. The girl desperately tried to shuffle near to him, struggling with the chains holding her in place. It almost looked like he had forgotten about anyone or anything as he tried to break the glass holding her in. Loki helped in a way too. He somehow unlocked all the chains and the muzzle with his magic. The cloth from her back came loose and there was a bright light blinding everyone for a second. They were wings.....The whitest anyone had ever seen.
The ride in the quinjet was a rather troublesome one. Y/N would hiss at anyone who even tried to mildly interact with her, flinching everytime someone moved and clinging onto Bucky’s arm as she buried her head into his chest. Everthing scared her. The machines, the people, every single thing.
Bucky looked at her in pity.He was angry that he could never get her out of that hellhole. He was angry at himself. You see, Y/N was kidnapped and brought in by Hydra at the mere age of 10. She met Bucky for the first time at the mere age of 16.
She was one of those who didn’t listen. One of those cases where a brainwashed Soldat was thrown into their cell to discipline them. But she was also one of them whom he refused to bring himself to harm even in that state. She had helped him once. When he was badly injured as he was thrown into her cell . She had looked past her fear and wrapped a scrapped part of her dust ridden gown around his hand. That was the last he had seen of her. He had thought they got rid of her.
Nat had tried. To make the girl at least glance at her. She finally succeeded on offering her food. It made Nat feel a weird kind of warmth something she hadn’t felt ever.
By the time they reached headquarters Y/N had familiarised herself or at least tried to with everyone. Wanda had helped her in and out of the shower. Nat had brought her clothes. Loki kept apparating and magic-ing stuff to amuse her. Satisfied with a smug look on his face when she let out a soft gasp of excitement.
Next part was the difficult bit. Equipment everywhere. It recalled the girl of enough horridness. Steve had hesitated and asked if a full health checkup was necessary immediately and it turned out that it was. But Bruce was gentle. At that moment Y/N wondered if such gentleness had ever existed and if it did, why hadn’t she gotten a nibble of it.
Tony had stopped Peter and Thor from attacking the girl with their golden retriever personalities as he constanly kept inquiring to F.R.I.D.A.Y about her origin. Scott and Sam had bickered making Y/N giggle as she sat by Loki and Bucky. For the first time in her life she felt at peace.
Stephen Strange met Y/N a month after her rescue all after winning a bickering contest with Tony when the rest of the Avengers suggested it in the first place saying that ‘It’s not only unfair to him considering his position in the team but he can also help her.’
See the thing is that Y/N didn’t know her true potential and the irony is that even with wings she had no idea how the fuck to fly.
Stephen liked her. Wong did too. She was quiet and spoke only when necessary but there was kindness and fascination in her eyes. She had tried her hand in sorcery and she was learning. Fast though not as fast as Stephen it was surprising.
Her wings were heavy It was understandable why she didn’t try flying. But Stephen tried. Oh how he did and though embarassingly for him he had also asked the others for assistance but it never seemed to work.
Y/N had felt what the meaning of being called an Avenger for the very first time and that it was filled with loss and pain. She had looked around her as she threw the magical golden whip at the enemy. Nat was limping. Steve struggled. Peter was down on his knees. A pack of little screams had alerted her as she looked to see a set of civilians at whom guns were being cocked at. She had leapt. Without thing of the consequences as Bucky had yelled a painful no. She lept right in front of the group,Her wings shielding them when she heard the shots go off. She waited for the pain but she felt nothing but little jerks. The battle had turned silent. Everyone had stopped to look and take in what had had happened. Her wings had ricochetted evey single bullet. Hitting them backing into the ones who had fired them in the first place. And for the first time that she had flapped them she felt herself lift off the ground as the shone a blinding white.
Y/N recalls Sundays. The days when everyone sat together at Stark Towers as they lean on Y/N’s wings watching movies peacefully with occasional perks of laughter.
Shimmering gold and green flashed beside her as she sat recalling on top of the building. A hand placing a book by Socrates in her hand. “They’re waiting and I’m tired of being pestered. Come on, let’s go”,he snarked earning a giggle.
She finally knew what the quote meant. She was lucky to be Alate.

Could I request the “forbidden/secret relationship” with Loki and reader? They dated back in Asgard, but with Loki as prince it was somehow forbidden so they needed to keep it secret. Someone found out and the reader was sent to Midguard and to not see Loki again and while she is there she found out she’s pregnant. Years later Loki found a way back to the reader and is surprised to see that they have a child together
Absolutely! Thanks for the request! Hope this is the kind of thing your were looking for. :)
First story for my 200 Followers/Birthay writing challenge!
The Rarest Flower
Loki/ReaderRated T - kissing, forbidden romance, implied smut, angst, fluff
"Darling, we have to stop this," you told him, wishing you could mean it as much as you should. "If someone finds out..."
"I want someone to find out," Loki insisted. "I want everyone to find out. I want to proclaim from the dais in the throne room how much I love you."
His voice was rising alarmingly as he spoke, arm encircling your waist pulling you close beneath the bright night stars. The air was cool and crisp, but in your princes' embrace you felt only the heat radiating from his lean muscled body. Just a bit franticly you raised your hand to cover his lips to keep him from shouting out your presence. Loki merely smiled and kissed your fingers, a stubborn look in his bright green eyes.
"You know that can't happen my love," you said, silently wishing it were otherwise. "You are a prince. In line for the throne. I am a nothing, a nobody."
"You are everything to me," he interrupted, claiming your lips in a kiss that tasted of wine and chocolate covered fruit from your picnic. Resolutely you fought against what his kisses always did to you. There was too much at stake to give in, yet again, to the passion your dark prince could evoke in you.
"Loki, we must stop. I may be everything to you now, but we have known from the start how things must be. For your own sake and for the good of the realm."
"The good of the realm," he scoffed.
"Yes!" you went on tenaciously. "You could be king some day, Loki. Ruler of all Asgard."
"Oh min kjaereste, Odin will never choose me," he said with a bitter laugh.
"Not if you are tied to a peasant, he won't!" you said triumphantly. "You have to make an advantageous marriage. That is the duty of princes, to secure the safety of the realm. And yes, Odin may seem to favor Thor now, but things change, my love. Time will show him who the worthy son is, and he will turn to you."
"You believe that?" the need in Loki's voice when he spoke of his father was almost enough to break you. He so craved the approval and acceptance of the harsh old man, though he would rather perish than admit it. For yourself, you thought Odin was a foolish king with a glaring blind spot when it came to his sons. How anyone could miss the shining potential just waiting to be nourished within Loki was a mystery to you.
"I believe in you, Loki," you told him, rising on your tiptoes to kiss him. "I believe you are destined for greatness."
"I love you, min kjaereste," he told you, crushing you to him. "I don't care about your station. I don't care about anything but you. Say you love me too."
"I love you Loki," the words flew from your lips, unable to be curbed when he looked at you so intently, hands mapping your body in the moonlight.
"Then let me show you, darling," he coaxed, plucking the rare white night blossom that grew only in this one place, high atop the hill overlooking Asgard. You gasped as he trailed the precious white bloom down the side of your cheek and over you lips. You had never seen one before, let alone felt how soft were its petals. “Tomorrow we can discuss succession and dynasties. Tonight let me worship you."
You closed your eyes and let the night recede as he lay you down atop his cloak. Tomorrow, as he said. Tomorrow you would be strong and do what must be done, for both your sakes. You would give yourself the fairy tale of tonight. One more night where you would feel what it was to be loved, truly, deeply loved, by a prince.
Loki looked around the open space with disdain. They called this a park. Flocked to it in droves as though it deserved the name. Back home on Asgard it would not so much merit a bench. The gardens and parks at home, fragrant with teeming variety of blossoms, were each more glorious than the next. All of them, including the one where a very special flower grew. The one that he never went to.
"It's lovely, isn't it?" Thor beamed, waving his arms to encompass their surroundings.
"It's crowded," Loki groused in response. "All of these Midgardians and their pets."
"Dogs, brother!" Thor enthused. "They're called dogs!"
"What are they exactly?" Loki was mildly intrigued by the creatures, he had to admit. While his contempt for the humans might be thinly veiled, the beasts that led them about on woven and chain leads seemed rather noble creatures.
"Well, from what I gather they are loyal and playful, if a bit of handful to clean up after. They follow one around and fetch things, and protect you when the need arises. Also, they jump on you and drool a bit. Jane and I are getting one of our very own soon, she promised me!"
"Jane already has one of her own," Loki laughed, watching as Thor slowly took his meaning and blushed with rueful self awareness. That was one thing that had improved about his brother since his time on Midgard had begun at least. He seemed more aware of his own rather... well, dog-like tendencies and temperament. Loki supposed that there must be something redeeming about this planet if it could so enlighten the chronically dense.
"So what do you think, Brother?" Thor asked, voice betraying his anxiety. "Will you do it?"
"Will I do it," Loki repeated, looking around him with unseeing eyes.
"Yes. Will you take the throne?" Thor urged.
"This is really what you want?" he could not believe that his brother, born to be a king as he was, would settle... would long for this pedestrian life.
"It is all I want," Thor told him seriously. "A life with Jane. Protecting Midgard from her enemies. But I can not do that if I am King of Asgard. Take the throne, Loki. You have the wisdom and patience to rule. Let me be free."
"I will do as you ask," Loki began, raising one hand in warning as Thor began to build in excitement, "with one proviso. I will not marry. I will not have children."
"But you must!" Thor insisted. "The line of succession must continue!"
"I have sworn it, Thor," Loki spat out, eyes going hard. "I will not go back on my word. I will rule until my time is done, but you must provide the heir. It will not be of my getting."
"As you will," for a man who had just gotten his wish, Thor sounded less than happy. "Come, there is one more place I wish to show you."
Loki rolled his eyes and rose from the bench where they had been sitting to follow his bounding brother down the nearest path.
You had lost Lael somewhere in the Ramble, a series of twisting paths that ran through a section of the park near your home. A hint of anxiety stirred within you, he was not a large child and only ten of the human years in age. Still, he was strong for his size, and had the dog with him. Of course he did, the two were practically inseparable and had been since Lael's birth.
What a miserable night that had been. Though nowhere near as glacial as your homeland could become, it had nonetheless been cold and snowy enough to impede your way to the medical center where you were scheduled to give birth. All alone in the dead of night you had trudged there, not trusting the mortal transit system as much as you had your own two feet. It had been a long time before you trusted much of anything. There had been a man there, though, who while cold and somewhat distant in demeanor had nonetheless taken an interest in you. He was not your doctor, he had snidely comment that child birth was far beneath his skillset, but having looked at your scans and seen the anomalies therein he had tracked you down in the wing reserved for new mothers.
Steven was a friend now, and had introduced you to others like you; those imbued with gifts or physiognomy beyond that found on this backwards world. It gave you a sense of dark amusement that you were considered special here. Back at home it had been your very ordinariness that had sealed your fate. He had also gifted you with the small black puppy, saying that every Earth boy needed a dog. You had pointed out the obvious, Lael was not of Earth, but he had just smiled and reminded you that he was now.
You were actually on your way to meet Steven now, not far from here in the park. You missed Steven. He was still in New York, of course, but he practiced sorcery now instead of medicine and was usually quite busy. You found that ironic. It seemed you attracted sorcerers. Particularly the arrogant, dark haired variety with a caustic wit.
The other sorcerer, the first one, had been on your mind so much of late. It was only natural, you supposed. Thor, the golden Thunder God, had been splashed all over the television. It was almost comical watching the people of this planet fall under his spell as so many had before. You could not blame them; Thor was charming, handsome, noble, all that a God should be. If he did not have hair as dark as midnight and eyes as green as moss, well, not everyone cared for that. And if he was a bit dim it had never seemed an impediment before.
"Well hello there, little fellow! And you too, big fellow!" a booming voice interrupted your revelry.
You stopped in your tracks, all of the air rushing from your lungs in one gush. You had exchanged barely ten words with Thor in your time on Asgard, but you knew his voice. Turning to the side of the path, you looked down into the small ravine carved out by a little waterfall to your left. There, as if conjured by your memory, was a hulking figure with bright blond hair and bulging muscles. He was hunkered down on his knees, petting the dark fur of a large black dog you were all to familiar with.
For all the combined space taken up by the blond God and the frisky Labrador however, they barely occupied a moment of your notice. No, the figures below who had taken the very air from your body and caused your heart to beat so loudly that it threatened to deafen you were the two slim, black haired ones standing to either side of the clearing.
It was unfair, drastically, extraordinarily unfair, how handsome Loki still was after all this time. Dressed as he was now in Earth clothes, he was somehow even more remarkable to look at. It was as if his unparalleled beauty was rendered even more exquisite in the ordinary (though you were sure exorbitantly expensive) black suit he wore. He had filled out since the last time you had seen him. The youth you had loved so dearly with all your heart solidifying into a man with all his soft edges filed away.
Unable to endure the sight of him any longer, your eyes flickered to the boy facing him. Once more your heart beat a wild tattoo. It the dark hair, smooth and brushed back from his face, the straight spine and haughty tilt of the head, you had always known how much they resembled his father, but seeing them now, face to face, it was like looking back into your youth when the two princes of Asgard had first come into the city in search of tokens for their mother and stumbled into her parents' shop. Only his eyes, the color of your own, were different from the boy you had met then.
"Loki," Lael spoke in a commanding voice, "behave yourself!"
Oh sweet Norns, you thought, suddenly finding your feet and hurrying around the bend towards the figures in the clearing.
"I bed your pardon," came the voice you had never thought to hear again. The one that made your stomach launch into butterflies and your mouth go bone dry.
"My dog, sir," your son's voice carried through the trees.
"You dog is named Loki?" Thor guffawed.
"Yes sir. My mother named him. It is a noble name. The name of a God."
"It is indeed," Loki's low, dark voice agreed. "And what do you know of the God Loki, boy?"
"He was the Trickster, sir. The smartest, cleverest God ever to exist. He was a warrior, and could best any of the other Gods at fighting, but chose instead to use his superior intelligence and his magic. My mother also says he was the most handsome, but that is not important."
"On the contrary," Loki purred. "I find it very important. And where is your mother, boy? Aren't you a bit young to be cavorting about by yourself?"
"I'm old enough," he huffed, puffing out his chest. "And besides, Loki will protect me. But here she comes now."
You skidded around the final bend and came to an ungainly stop just behind Lael. You hand, shaking visibly, came to rest on your son's shoulder, and you drew him protectively to you. Lael resisted, squirming a bit and rolling his eyes like any boy his age but you held him firmly.
"I know I'm not to talk to strangers in the park," he said defensively, "but Loki liked them! And you know what good taste he has always had."
"Yes," Loki's voice sounded strange, almost strangled to your ears. "Yes he always has."
You swallowed, unable to speak. You were suddenly intensely aware of the careless state of your appearance. You never spent much time on it when you were not at work. It was not as though you were seeking to attract anyone; who could possibly draw your eye when you had lost your heart irrevocably to a God. To the God now standing before you with unblinking eyes.
"Wait," Thor's voice cut into the tension filling the clearing. "Don't I know you?"
"Distantly, Your Highness," you said, curtseying as well as you could in your jeans.
"You are from Asgard!" Thor smiled, placing you. "Your family owned the small shop that sold trinkets and books in the village."
"Indeed," you nodded, eyes still not leaving Loki's face.
"What in heaven's name are you doing on Midgard?" Thor asked, sounding baffled.
"Yes," Loki spoke at last. "I would like to know that as well."
"The All Father arranged it," you said, eyes going to the ground.
"You spoke to Odin?" Loki's voice was no more than a whisper.
"I did."
"Your idea or his?"
Painfully you dragged your eyes up to meet his. A world of pain, long remembered, shone in his eyes.
"Mine," you confessed. "The morning... the morning after."
"I see," he rasped.
"Loki?" Thor looked from one to the other of you.
"You deserted me," Loki's voice sounded as though it had been dragged across the rocks.
"He would have found out," you said, words coming in a rush. "He would have discovered us. Already he was suspicious. I went to him and asked what would happen if you bound yourself to a commoner."
"And?" Loki asked.
"It would not have been allowed."
"I would have liked to see them try to stop me!"
"You would have been stripped of your crown," you insisted. "Devested of all royal duty and privilege. I couldn't do that to you!"
"I would think that was rather for me to decide," he told you coldly. "Did you have so little faith in me? I would have denounced all titles, all rights, to be with you."
"I didn't want you to denounce anything!"
"Except you!"
"Mother, what is going on?"
"Mother?" Loki's eyes went larger as he looked, really and truly, looked at the boy before him. "Min kjaereste, who is this child? Have you... have you given yourself to another? An ant of Midgard? Where is he? Take me to him that I may eviscerate him for having dared lay a hand on what is mine!"
"Loki," Thor grabbed his arm.
"My father is gone!" Lael said defiantly, flipping his hair back from where the wind had blown it in his face. "But he was not an ant! He was a Prince! And one day he will be a King!"
"Lael, hush!" you said, blinking tears from her eyes. "Loki. Look at him."
Loki stared, wild eyed, at Lael and slowly understanding lit in his eyes.
"Lael?" he whispered.
"It means God," you said quietly.
"When did you know?" Loki asked.
"I found out the last day we met. I wanted to tell you that night in the garden, but I couldn't find the words. I went to Odin to see... to see if we would be allowed. To be together."
"What did the old man say?" surprisingly, it was Thor who growled the question.
"I told you, Loki would be forbidden to see me. Cast out if he disobeyed."
"And? There is more than that, is there not?"
"He was..." you closed your eyes, trying to calm yourself enough to speak your greatest fear, "he was going to take Lael. When he was born."
"Father has many flaws, but he would never hurt a child!" Thor shook his head.
"Are you so sure of that?" there was murder in Loki's voice.
"He would not be harmed," you rushed to assure them. "He would be placed with a family far away, on another planet. There were reasons, he said, why he could not allow a child of Loki's to be seen on Asgard and acknowledged."
"I can turn blue," Lael said proudly, startling both men and causing you to gasp. "I am not supposed to talk about it, accept around special people, but Mother this must count!"
"Lael!" you scolded, earning a sullen pout from your son.
"He is - like me?" Loki asked, fear in his voice.
"Sometimes," you replied, squeezing your son. "I have a friend. A sorcerer, though not like you. Steven Strange. I believe you know him, Thor. He has cast an illusion so that Lael can only turn blue when I allow it."
"It's not fair," Lael sulked.
"So Odin wanted to send him away. To hide my shame."
"Or his own," you cut in. "He is the one who should feel shame, after all, kidnapping a baby and lying for all those years."
"Odin and shame do not keep company, believe me," Loki said harshly. "He sent you away."
"I had a choice, such as it was. Stay in Asgard and have the child taken from me at birth, or go away before his arrival and remain with him in exile. Leave you, or leave our child."
"You didn't think to tell me?" Loki's voice betrayed a heartache that cut you nearly to the quick. "I could have protected you, min kjaereste."
"There was no time. He was sending me away, to exile or a cell. I chose to protect what we had created, and I would do so again!"
"I never knew," Loki staggered forward and knelt before Lael, searching his face with an intensity that bordered on frightening. "I had a fight with Father that day. I told him that I planned to ask for your hand, and he laughed at me. Asked what family in their right mind would wed their daughter to one disowned. I decided to call his bluff and sought out your parents, but when I got there they said you had run away. That while you cared for me, you did not want to suffer for my disgrace."
"Loki, no!" you breathed in horror.
"You didn't run away from me?" he asked, looking up at you with hope in his eyes.
"Never, my love," you shook your head, ignoring your tears.
"Mother," Lael broke out of your embrace at last and stumbled. Loki's quick arm shot out to steady him. One look at the small shoulder beneath his hand and Loki let out a cry of pure emotion. Canine Loki began barking, leaping about around the pair in the center of the clearing. "Tell me what is going on!"
"Lael," you said, looking over at the dark prince with his hand resting on your son. "I would like you to meet two old friends of mine. This is Thor, and this is Loki."
"Mother, your being silly!"
"She is not," Thor said seriously, winking at your son. "Those are our names."
"Then your parents were silly," he said.
"Our father, certainly. But our mother was very wise. Just like yours. I'll tell you what, Lael, it looks like your pup wants to run. What say we indulge him for a moment."
Loki made a panicked noise as Thor swooped Lael up onto his shoulders, but Thor smiled reassuringly at him.
"We will not be far. I think you two have a bit to say to one another."
As Thor trotted off with the boy and dog happily whooping, Loki stood up and took your hand between his long, white fingers.
"Min kjaereste," he said. "Can you ever forgive me?"
"For what?" you asked, confused.
"For not believing in you," he said, eyes, welling with tears. "For not moving earth and sky to find you. For leaving you to raise our son alone. Our son! I have a son!"
"You do," you smiled. "Loki, there is nothing to forgive. It was my mistake, going to Odin."
"It is what we are taught to do," he laughed hollowly. "Bring our problems to the All Father."
"Well, I will never do so again," you said witsh feeling.
"I hope you do not mean that, my love," he said quietly.
"Surely you don't think I could ever trust Odin after what he has put us all through?"
"Never," Loki shook his head. "But Odin is no longer the All Father. He is gone, darling. Gone to Valhalla. It is why I am here, to see Thor."
"Ah, then Thor will become King at last?"
"It was the plan," Loki said, playing with your fingers. "But he does not wish to take the throne. He has renounced Asgard and chosen to remain on Midgard."
"But that means..." you stared, open mouthed at Loki.
"The throne is mine," he nodded. "As of now I am the All Fathe of the Nine Realms."
Slowly, with great reverence, you sank to your knees on the dirt before him.
"My King," you said gravely, kissing his hand.
"Darling," he smiled at you, "there is one reason and one reason only I ever want to see you on your knees. And unfortunately, this is neither the time nor the place for that."
"Loki!" you gasped, a heat flushing your face as he helped you to your feet.
"Asgard needs a Queen, my love," he told you, "and I have told Thor already that I will have none but you."
"But can not be allowed!"
"I am the All Father," he grinned. "And I am Loki. I do what I want. And I want, I very, very much want you, my only love. Say you still want me as well?"
The insecurity on his final words sliced you to the heart. With a cry of joy you through your arms around him and lost yourself in that long remembered intoxication of his embrace. His kiss was just as you remembered, but even more desperate. You wished with all of your heart you were someplace private that you could allow the feelings, long kept shut up behind the highest walls, to over come you and lead to their inevitable conclusion. Loki was right, though. It was neither the time nor place. Reluctantly you untangled yourself from about him and smiled into his brilliant eyes.
"I have something for you," he told you fondly. With a wave of his hand he drew from nowhere a delicate white flower, perfectly formed. "I kept it, from our last night together, safe in my pocket dimension. As long as I had it, I could dream that I had you."
As you took the flower from his hand, your eyes overflowed with tears. He was perfect, just like the blossom.
"But I have nothing to give you," you told him, upset.
"Nonsense. You have given me a son, and you have given me hope. I never thought to have either. Now come, before Thor corrupts the boy more than we can undo in this lifetime!"
"As you wish, my King," you smiled.
Loki raised your hand to his lips and kissed your palm. He tucked it into his arm and started to walk, but stopped momentarily and turned to face you.
"One thing, my heart," he said, raising one eyebrow.
"Yes?" you asked.
"You named the dog Loki?"
"He was our protector!" you giggled, as Loki rolled his eyes.
"I see. Well, I suppose we shall have to take him with us. And just when I have finally gotten rid of Thor!"

Thorn (Loki x ofc)
Requested 11/15 by Anon to @loki-the-fox : cAn I rEqUesT mY bAbY Loki trying to convince himself that he isn’t falling for the rouge female warrior in Asgard, but ended up being saved by her in some sort of uber bad back alley brawl ((Unrealistic ik i’m sorry)) and then finally comes to terms with the fact that he fell way to hard for the beautiful warrior that should technically be jailed ((I’m sorry i’m not creative but like I love ur writing and shnuff and I uber duper super wanted to see this written by you <3<3 I LOVE YOU SM))
Well… This is awkward… I’m not @loki-the-fox but hopefully you like it just the same.
Loki x ofc, minor warning for violence, implied smut.
Summary: Young Loki ventures out of the palace into a tavern in a nearby village believing that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence where he repeatedly meets a smart mouth young woman who isn't fond of the royal family. It's hate at first sight but when she's mistaken for a whore and Loki's snide comment is matched by Blair's as she takes the last word. Loki's left to deal with the patrons who take it as a sign of weakness in the not so well loved Prince. When the fight spills outside the young Loki is no match for men who have him outnumbered he finds himself a unlikely savior and a messy scene. Perhaps he's let his station color is views as much as she had.
Thorn
Loki’s swift steps took him farther and farther into the village just outside the palace city. In the distance he could see the golden palace even now and how the sight of it made his stomach churn. His breath came out in angry huffs.
He was beyond angry. How dare they disregard him, yet again. He was smarter than Thor. He was smarter than Odin. Why could none of them see his potential? It angered him to be cast aside as if he was not good enough, as if he was nothing.
He had to get as far away from the palace as he could. It was the only way he could get some space and think clearly. It wouldn’t do him any good to scream at Odin. It wasn’t worth the punishment and he was bored of fighting with Thor.
Regardless, when Thor tired of his words he would use his fists. His elder brother was much stronger than he physically and his sorcery was still a skill he was developing. In time he hoped he would be able to hold his own or even surpass his brother’s brute strength with it.
Pushing open the doors, he took in the smoky tavern. It stank and the air was thick. It was loud and crowded. It was everything he thought he needed and he came here more and more often. There was only one seat open at the bar, regrettably near the hotheaded woman he know to be called Blair.
He hated her and her snide comments. He didn’t ask to be born royal and she could never understand the pressure and stress his title put on his shoulders. She thought he had it so damn easy but what meetings did she have to attend to? What structure was required in her day? She got to do all she wanted, when she wanted. Lucky bitch.
What Loki didn’t realize that she thought the same of him. In her eyes he thought he was so much better then her. Living the easy life in the palace and being served left and right must be nice. The royal family clearly didn’t know what it felt like to do a solid day’s labor.
Yet somehow they always seemed to end up sitting next to each other in the tavern. As she shot down gruff man after man asking to take her home. Some even offered coin for the right to claim her for a night causing Loki to scoff next to her.
“You’re not worth any more.” He snidely spoke into his mug of ale.
“And you know the going rate of bed warmers? I guess you would, how else would you get a woman into your bed.” Downing her drink, Blair tossed some coins on the bar and left.
Loki didn’t even have a chance to bite back and she was gone. He’d never been so thankful for a woman to leave his side. She was bash and crude. How dare she speak to him in such a way. He’d have no use of women of the night, he’d have any woman he wanted. He was destined to wed a Princess in time.
“Oh you’re just going to take it.” A man down the bar commented, laughing into his drink.
“I beg your pardon?”
“Only a little royal bitch would let her talk to him like that.”
That’s the last Loki could recall as rage clouded his mind. Surely he said something back and insults where shot back and forth. Somehow they ended up outside. Turns out the large man had some just as large friends. They each had as much if not more bulk on them then Thor.
They didn’t fight in any way Loki had seen before. For a start, all five of them rained down on him at once. They fought with no honor or respect. To them, they could have been beating a dog instead of a man. Loki only managed to land a few blows in his attempt to defend himself.
“Why don’t you boys pick on someone else?” A voice called out.
Loki knew that voice. It was her voice. Pulling himself up on his hands and knees, he saw her from in the distance between the legs of one of the men. As much as he hated her, she didn’t need to get beaten even if the situation was her fault. He wanted to tell her to run but she looked down right arrogant.
“Leave.” How he wished his voice sounded stronger but it gave way to the pain of his broken ribs.
“You want to play, lil girl?” One man licked his lips in a revolting manner as he spoke.
“Oh I’ll play your game.” Her hips swayed in a sensual wave as she walked closer.
“Damn right we will. We’ll leave the little prince alone if we can have you.” She laughed right in their faces.
In retaliation one reached out to snag a fistful of her hair but she ducked low, delivering a powerful kick to his chest and knocking the wind from his lungs. A sharp bow from her elbow to his crotch sent the man down to the ground.
Spinning around, she kicked the feet out from another large man. Her arm was grabbed and yanked harshly as she was drawn to her feet by another. He sneered at her and whipped her around into the wall by her arm. The arm hung limply as she fell to the ground among trash and broken crates.
Grabbing up a board in the arm that still seemed to work and ignoring the pain in both her other arm and back, she smashed the first goon over the head with it. The crack of wood against skull was sickening.
Loki staggered to his feet as Blair faced off against the remaining men. Clearly, this wasn’t to be a fair fight. Pulling a dagger from his boot, he plunged it into the neck of one man. The blade glanced forward off bone and cut into the man’s throat. Jerking away, the man quickly bleed out in front of Loki’s eyes.
The remaining men were quick to scramble away, leaving Loki and Blair alone with a very dead man and another who had yet to come around from the board he took to the head. All and all, it was not a good situation. Loki would be off the hook. He was a prince and but Blair was just a woman of little financial means and no status.
She would take the fall for the dead man. The fight would be blamed on her. She would be blamed for the beating Loki took. The story would change and twist until Odin had something that would make the royal family look good.
“Come on.” Loki grabbed her hand and took off down the ally.
“Where are you taking us?” Blair tried to ignore the fact that Prince Loki was holding her hand.
“In all honesty, I am not sure.” Loki admitted, looking back at her. When did her brown eyes get so bright? “We can’t stay there however.”
“You’re a prince, no one will care.” Blair watched as he pulled her along. His just a bit too long hair was ruffled and wild. It was a nice change from the perfectly slick and brushed back look he normally wore.
“You however are not. I’ll not have you suffer for what was my fight.”
Blair dug her heels into the ground, forcing him to slow as she yelled up to him, “This way.”
As she pulled him through the streets to an abandoned home, she did her best to ignore the pain from the dislocated arm flopping against her side. Once he was inside she slammed the door closed and sank down to the ground.
“Down. You don’t want them to see us in the windows.” Loki quickly sat next to her, back against the wall dusty wall.
“Your arm?”
“Yeah, I’ll need your help with that. After you can leave and be free of my ugly face until the next time you slum in the village.” With a deep breath she glanced over to him. “If you could help pop it back in?”
Loki nodded and he took up her arm as gently as he could. She told him exactly what to do but still he didn’t want to hurt her. Finally with a grunt of effort he pushed and the sound it made when it popped into place was sickening.
“Thank you.” Somehow she hadn’t screamed at the pain but still he saw it clearly written on her face. Blair grabbed some dirty strips of cloth Loki could only assume once had been clean bandages off the ground and bound her arm into place. “Why haven’t you left yet?”
“I should be the one to offer thanks.” Loki admitted finally.
“But I assume that’s as close as I’ll get to a ‘thank you’ so I’ll take it. You’re welcome. You can leave now. Don’t want to get your fancy clothes dirty… or dirtier at least.”
“Why did you do it? You’ve no love for the royal family let alone for me.” Finally her brown eyes met his again. She didn’t look away or down. “You hate them.”
“I don’t hate them. Or you.” Loki watched as her chocolate eyes first looked up to the ceiling and then down to the ground before meeting his again. “I just- what’s it like to have a full stomach every night? What’s it like to sleep on down rather than straw? What’s it like to be warm at night? You’ve got it so easy and it’s not fair.”
“You struggle for food?” The thought was foreign to Loki. “Yet you go to the tavern and spend coin on ale?”
That question did make her look down. “I know it doesn’t make any sense. But if I don’t go out, don’t pretend that everything is okay it will be worse…”
“How? You spend money on ale that you need for food?” Loki watched as she took a deep breath.
“Father kicked me out when I refused to marry the old man willing to pay for my hand.” She shrugged again, suddenly unable to meet Loki’s eyes. Just why did the Prince care about such things now. “I kind of… I live here. Please don’t tell, I’ve not had coin to purchase it but no one else is living here so I’m not hurting anyone.”
“I won’t.” Loki reached out and grabbed her hand up. It was an impulsive action and he had her hand in his before he’d even thought it through. “I won’t tell anyone.”
Swallowing the lump in her throat, Blair continued. “You saw how those men talk to me, about me. If they knew I was so hard on coin they would be even worse.”
“It would be more dangerous for you.”
When did he begin leaning closer to her? When did she begin to lean closer to him? Somehow they were but a breath apart. Loki could feel Blair’s body heat and wondered if she could feel his. Surely she must.
Her lips were soft and warm against his. Letting go of her hand, he ran his fingers through the brown hair and smiled to himself as his fingers got tangled in the loose curls. Her hair was so soft and god did she smell good.
Pushing her back and down Loki was quick to take control. Not once did be break the kiss as he found himself atop her. Her hand found itself in his hair, along his back and against his firm chest.
She shivered as his hands snaked under her shirt. Bunching her fist into the back of his shirt, she pulled it up and over his head, breaking the kiss for a moment before his lips were at her neck again. In the back of her mind, she knew they would probably regret it after. He would surely regret it after.
The next week the small home was purchased and Blair found the document on a table that most certainly hadn’t been there when she had left to beg for work for the day. In perfect calligraphy was her name on the paper that proclaimed her owner.
Each day she’d leave and something, small or large would be improved in the home. Loki would deny it when asked at the tavern but she knew. He was the only one who knew. They were doomed, ill fated and of two different worlds.
One day she thought there was nothing left to fix or improve. She didn’t expect there to be anything different. Perhaps it would end, finally. Maybe after the nearly year they’d spent having almost civil conversations in public and falling together again and again in the seclusion of her home, he’d had enough.
Instead, when she walked into her small bedchamber she found a black and green dress draped over her bed. It was made of the finest silk she had seen. Next to it was a small note written in a hand she had grown to know well. Under it sat an envelope with the king’s seal.
“Darling,
Tonight as I’m sure you’ve heard my King Father is throwing a ball. Noble women and Princesses from all the lands near and far will be in attendance. From them I am to pick she who shall become my bride and stand by my side for eternity. You’ve surely already noticed the dress but you’ll also find shoes and most importantly a royal invite.
Come, my Darling. That invite is not a trick nor a forgery. Come so that I may pick the most fitting rose from the garden. Come, my darling, so that I can pick the rose who has both the beauty of a flower and the thrones of a warrior.
Yours always, Loki”

MARVEL PHASE 4 MOVIES I WANT TO SEE! Excluding Black Panther, we still have four movies left of Phase 3, but that won't stop people like myself hoping and speculating Marvel's next moves! The obvious films we'll see are the sequels to the characters that haven't achieved their trilogies yet - Ant-Man/The Wasp and the Guardians seem to be the next ones to do so (with James Gunn currently writing GOTG Vol.3, and Ant-Man co-star, Michael Peña kiiinda confirming a third antsized outing). Stark, Cap and Thor have all had their runs it seems, hence why there doesn't seem to be any word on their future films beyond Avengers 4. The Marvel formula seems to be: Each hero gets their own trilogy, then after that, they simply feature in other people's movies as well as the ensemble Avengers flicks. We don't know their fates just yet, but if not all of them simply die, you can expect them to take more of a backseat in the MCU, to help shift focus towards the "newcomers", which, at this point, are Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Spidey and Captain Marvel. So what I'm going to talk about here is not just what sequels we'll see... because that's easy. I'm going to talk about what I want to see happen in them, using my knowledge, as well as sheer hopes and fantasies! (NOTE: I won't discuss possible Black Panther sequel storylines right now seeing as though not everyone has seen it yet! Though a sequel is more than likely). Spider-Man 2: With a 2020 release date already confirmed, this movie has surpassed the hypothetical stage! The question is, what's it all about? Well, thankfully, Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige spoke briefly about it, saying that the movie would start straight after the events of Avengers 4. Not knowing the outcome of that film makes it quite tricky to figure out, but knowing that the whole cosmic infinity crusade is Spidey's first Avengers outing, Peter Parker's sequel will most likely focus around settling back down to 'reality'. Imagine fighting numerous space battles during the summer and then having to go back to school?! What a nightmare! We see Mack Gargan (Scorpion) teased on multiple occasions during the first movie, so we'll most likely see him return more prominently, though I don't think he'll be the main villain. Tom Holland has expressd his interest in Kraven the Hunter, saying that he's one of his favourite Spidey villains... and I'd have to agree. The odd character (and his motives) may be difficult to translate onto the big screen, but if you can bring a sentient tree and a talking raccoon to life, then anything is possible. It's also said that another hero will feature in "Spidey 2", much like how Iron-Man was a supporting role for him the first time around. This is where I talk about who I'd like to see Spider-Man buddy up with: Drax! How stupid and impractical would that be? Imagine Peter hiding this brute of an alien inside of his tiny room and sneaking him around the apartment away from Aunt May. Peter is a clever kid, so having to put up with Drax's literal and blunt way of thinking/processing would make for some great, counter-productive action. Besides, in the first Guardians movie, Drax says to Quill regarding Earth, "Sounds like a place I would like to visit". The idiotic brawler will more than likely have his wish come true during Infinity War, which makes it possible that he could stay behind sneakily, or (even funnier) he gets left behind by accident as the Milano flies back into space once Avengers 4 ends. It's a long shot I guess, but if I worked for Marvel, I'd totally pitch this! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3: James Gunn has stated that the third movie will be the wrap-up for most of the current Guardians of the Galaxy, which makes me think that some will either die or retire, whilst newcomers come forth to 'replace' them. By the looks of things, the Sovereign will play a larger role, seeing as though Ayesha is responsible for creating Adam Warlock. I think Adam will actually be the villain for most of the film, simply following orders from Ayesha whilst figuring out who he is and if his destructive purpose is set in stone. I think we'll also see the classic Guardians (led by Stallone) team up with the Starlord and friends... maybe even mixing, matching and splitting one another up into different teams throughout the film. Another cool idea I thought about what bringing Iron-Man into it. His intrigue of dangers that lie beyond the stars, and his impulsive desire to keep fighting crime after trying to call it quits numerous times may play into his choice to take a vacation to deep space. Once the Guardians come into the fold during Infinity War, the Avengers' world suddenly becomes much bigger than before, as they're no longer bound to their home planet. Iron-Man has actually joined the Guardians team in the comics, whilst sporting a pretty cool space suit. I feel like this could be possible... depending on whether or not Stark dies however. There is also a fear of overusing Iron-Man too, seeing as though he's featured in the most movies in the MCU. Ant-Man/The Wasp 2 (Ant-Man 3): This is confusing - so will this be Ant-Man and The Wasp 2 or will it be Ant-Man 3? Is Ant-Man and The Wasp even considered Ant-Man 2? Eh, the main thing is, it'll be Scott's third flick. The second mini adventure is looking good, judging from the teaser trailer, and I can't wait to see the villain Ghost in action. They're definitely returning to the Quantum Realm in hopes of rescuing Janet Van Dyne. Whether or not they're fully sucessful is yet to be seen, but we can still try and figure out Scott and Hope's future. The only thing I can think of that can be the catalyst for a third 'save the world in a small-scale manner' movie is something to do with the Quantum Realm. In the comics, there are creatures that inhabit these sub-atomic worlds. If our heroes unintentionally find them and/or awaken them, it could mean disaster for our world. Another idea I have is something to do with nanobots: extremely tiny machines that can complete tasks that would be impossible for a pair of human hands. Most nanobot inventors have good intentions, but what's stopping a supervillain from forcing humans to inhale a swarm of deadly micro machines? I would absolutely LOVE a homage to the 1966 film, Fantastic Voyage, where a submarine crew shrink down and journey into a scientist's body to mend his damaged brain. How cool would a whole battle scene look inside of someone's body?! Imagine them fighting their way from one end of the body to the other, as the human's organs and bodily functions become obstacles. I'd also love a homage to the classic Japanese Godzilla movies with Giant-Man VS some huge monster, crashing into tall skyscrapers and essentially causing a big mess. Doctor Strange 2: Scott Derrickson has expressed his interest in the villain Nightmare. The name tells you everything you need to know really. Okay, hear me out on this: Think back to the first Ghostbusters movie when there's a huge rise in paranormal activity and there's just ghosts and ghouls flying around causing havoc. I think it'd be cool if a similar thing happened. Imagine a rupture between the alternate dimensions (similar to Thor the Dark World when the Convergence bled the 9 realms together momentarily). Big cities are suddenly full of unexplainable creatures and entities from vast and diverse dimensions that no one knew existed. Now, that sounds like a 'Nightmare' to me. It would be a twist on the villain's usual intentions, but it would make for some pretty rad calamities. Another villain we should expect to see is Mordo - returning to fulfil the duties he feels are right. According to him, there are "Too many sorcerers," and we saw that he had learnt to extract the magical energy from people. Has he learnt to do this himself? Or has he learnt it from someone? If so, this could be another villain; Brother Voodoo. It could unlock a new range of sorcery in the form of Voodoo, where powers are able to be taken away and redistributed. Both the Nightmare and Voodoo premises are exciting to me, but there is one thing that will unfold for certain: Strange's journey to becoming Sorcerer Supreme. Though I don't think we'll see it happen until the third movie, the second film will definitely highlight the dangers and hardwork that come with becoming such an unparallelled force of mystic might. For all I care, call the second movie 'Doctor Strange: Realm of Nightmares', or 'Doctor Strange: Voodoo Rising', then simply call the third one 'Doctor Strange: Sorcerer Supreme'. Also... how amazing would it be if Loki teamed up with him?! It would be in no way a harmonious experience, but that's why it'd be so good! We kind of got a taste of it during Ragnarok, and I doubt I'm the only one who wants to see these two magic wielders join forces in a disfunctional way. Strange could learn from the mischief and tricks, and Loki could learn from the discipline and sense of duty. Loki was taught on Asgard, and Strange has learnt on Earth by reading countless books. Their experinces are incredibly different, so their diversity would work wonders. Plus, just the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston would be fighting side by side is enough reason for Marvel to say yes! Captain Marvel 2: Perhaps a little early to try and figure out the premise to the sequel, but hey-ho, what else am I gonna do at 3am in the morning? Sleep?! I don't think so. From what we know (and what we can tell), Captain Marvel's first movie is set in the 90's with a Nick Fury that has perfect eyesight. This indicates that she will be tied to SHIELD in some way once she aquires her powers. The thing we have to figure out is where she's been all this time if it's set in the 90's, and why she's suddenly brought into the fold for Avengers 4 after being seemingly dormant (and essentially nonexistent). Chances are, the aftermath of her first movie leaves her trapped in space, caught in the middle of the Skrull/Kree war. Both aliens races are too big to shrug off and disregard so easily, so I imagine that both aliens will continue to play a role in Captain Marvel 2. More importantly however, I think the sequel will mostly focus on Carol not only returning to Earth (after Avengers 4), but making herself properly known to the world. Will the world accept this incredibly powerful, god-like hero? Will she even feel like she still belongs on Earth, or if she's even wanted there for that matter? We could also see the whole Secret Invasion begin to take effect in the MCU, which could possibly roll over into Avengers 5 and be the plot of that film. The shapeshifting Skrulls would cause mayhem and disarray from the inside, and hinder friendships between the heroes. No one would know who to trust! A Bucky Movie (Cap 4): I know I said all that about the 'trilogy rule', but if someone other than Steve Rogers became Captain America, it would be more of a fresh start rather than a fourth Cap film. There's been a few moments (including deleted scenes) that elude to Bucky picking up the shield eventually... and if Cap happens to die during his fight with Thanos then it would be the ideal time for Bucky to become more than just the guy with the metal arm. Falcon is a possible candidate as well, but between Bucky and Sam, I feel like Sebastian's character would benefit from evolving more. Without the shield, Falcon can still fly and has reconnaissance skills. For Bucky, he is nothing more than a skilled fighter and soldier (sorry Tumblr fan girls), but give him a star spangled suit and a shield, and it gives the character a whole new dimension - the Sergeant would be promoted to Captain! So if this is the case, the dawn of a new era can begin. The movie could focus on Bucky mourning the loss of Steve, and whether he could ever live up to what he was able to achieve. Would the world accept and idolise someone who was previously a Hydra assassin? It could be a great redemption story, as he eradicates any remaining demons whilst also proving himself not only as a hero, but as a worthy and rightful replacement for Steve. A Bucky and Black Widow enspionage/team-up movie with this premise would be pretty cool too. Namor the Submariner: Now then, we finally get to a debut character for Phase 4! Though Namor was one of the first ever Marvel heroes, we've never seen him brought to the big screen. Now would be the perfect time, as there's this little thing currently going on called the MCU... perhaps you've heard of it. The ocean covers 70% of our planet, and we know more about space than we do about our deep waters - that's crazy! Forget movies for a moment, there could actually be an Atlantis for all we know because we haven't even managed to fully explore our oceans yet. This could also be a plausible reasoning for Namor and the whole of Atlantis to suddenly 'pop up' within the MCU. It is such an integral place, and much like Wakanda, it is somewhat segregated from the rest of the world, making it feel like it may as well be alone. Namor could bring something new to the MCU... after all, Marvel Studios always seem to try new/different things all the time to keep the franchise fresh and progressive. Portrayed as a stern and often arrogant sea dweller, he could maybe serve as a villain during his first appearance (before joining the Avengers). I think the only issue when it comes to water-related heroes, their presence and required contribution is potentially unnecessary. Not only would Namor be a difficult character to bring to life, but I feel like it would be challenging to make him feel relevant and integral... but if Marvel Studios are up to the challenge then I'd implore it. Right, there you have it... my fantasy Phase 4! Come back in a couple years time when I do the same for Phase 5! Do you like the sound of my ideas and theories? Or do you think they're terrible? What movies and stories do you hope for? Let me know!

Loki Episode 5 Review: Journey Into Mystery
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
This review contains spoilers for Marvel’s Loki episode 5, WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Loki Episode 5
“I am Loki. God of Outcasts. They see themselves in me, and I in them. All of us, alone together. It’s why my stories always end with someone trying to put me in a box. And begin with my spectacular escape.”
An except there from Daniel Kibblesmith’s Loki #5, and quite a prominent theme of Loki’s story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date. Classic Loki (a spectacular Richard E. Grant) declared part of it aloud in the fifth episode of Loki when he told his gathered counterparts that they only have one part to play in the story of life, the universe, and everything: the God of Outcasts.
But throughout the series to date, Loki has borne witness to all his terrible flaws made flesh, and right about now he is just sick to death of them. From the God of Outcasts to the God of Losers to the God of Mischief, Loki is tired – so very tired – of himself. He’s also falling in love with himself, but I’m not here to perform that kind of emotional labor. He can take that shit to his therapist and work it out in private.
“Wherever you go, there you are” fits just as well for Loki episode 5’s theme, as Loki got to know some other versions of himself while stranded in the Void; their mistakes laid bare. Kid Loki killed Thor (you could’ve heard a pin drop), Classic Loki survived his Avengers: Infinity War encounter with Thanos by using his beefed-up sorcery …to hide. Alligator Loki ate his neighbor’s cat. Boastful Loki kicked both Iron Man and Captain America’s asses and went on to collect the Infinity Stone set, and “Vote Loki” was all about claiming political power on Midgard, I suppose.
It’s hard to pick an MVP from this gaggle of Lokis on the run. While it’s tempting to immediately choose Alligator Loki (literally every shot of him broke any serious moment with a laugh) or Kid Loki, who I am looking forward to inevitably joining a future Young Avengers lineup, Classic Loki wielded the most thematic impact by revealing what would have happened if Loki had evaded death in the “sacred” MCU timeline: weariness, loneliness, and a mile of regret. Loki really got a chance to see where all his worthless baggage was taking him, drawn heavily in the lines of Classic Loki’s face.
While there was both a lot of emotional resonance and fun to be had in this particular installment of the series, it did suffer from the traditional problems of a penultimate episode. It had “one last boss to fight” in Alioth before our Loki-Sylvie duo forged ahead to challenge the big bad, and we also had to go through the motions of “formulating a successful plan of attack,” all of which drove up enough excitement for the finale but didn’t really get us any closer to the end of our own journey into mystery. After last week’s shocks and surprises, there was bound to be a little calm before the storm, but I’m probably not the only one who hoped for a little bit more oomph in amongst the admittedly extremely distracting and gleeful collection of Marvel Easter eggs onscreen.
It was definitely a relief to see Mobius had managed to stay alive in the Void after being pruned at Judge Renslayer’s behest. Many thanks to Marvel for pulling its own “Lightning McQueen to the rescue” moment in a pizza delivery car – alright, it wasn’t a jet ski, but there’s still time. It seems that Loki has made a real friend in all this weirdness, and I hope that this will be a friendship that endures beyond the end of the series. Owen Wilson has been an excellent addition to the MCU and seems to have had a lot of fun playing the character.
Though it was a pleasure to spend some time with Mobius, the Lokis, and their stories, there was some awkward blanket time with Loki and Sylvie that I really could have done without. I will reiterate that I wish this romance wasn’t happening; it just feels weird as hell. I love Sylvie as a character but making her a love interest for Loki still feels unfortunate and way too rushed.
In the end, Loki and Sylvie managed to enchant Alioth by combining their growing power, but unfortunately it was too late to save Classic Loki, something I do not have it in my heart to forgive at this time. Yes, of course they managed to open a portal to the place beyond the Void in an effort to confront the entity who may truly be behind the creation of the TVA, but would it have killed them to get the job done a few seconds earlier?
Who will be revealed as the villain of this show next week? My first instinct – and one I had when the first trailer was released despite getting all the details laughably wrong – was that Loki and Sylvie were about to meet the MCU’s version of Doctor Doom. The castle we see in the distance looks eerily like the Doomstadt of Battleworld. But so many hints in the series thus far have teased a Kang the Conqueror appearance!
However, in the back of my mind lies another, perhaps more realistic fact: this is the third Marvel Disney+ series, and in the first two there were “big bad” mysteries that were resolved without introducing a new MCU character at the end. In WandaVision it was not Mephisto pulling the strings, but Agatha. In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the Power Broker turned out to be Sharon Carter. In Loki, it is therefore just as likely that the man behind the TVA curtain will be someone we’ve already met: Loki himself.
As always, I’m looking forward to all your thoughts and theories in the comments, and I’ll see you next week for the finale!
