The Sworn Partners for God's Sake

i am SOOOO ecstatic w/ how this came out! i decided to participate in @das-a-kirby-blog 's DTIYS since i needed some fun artistic challenge in my life. i will put all my thoughts below the cut because i need to yap but please look at this image for atleast 5 seconds since i spent like 25 hours on it <3

sketching this alone took some thought since i had to adjust the canvas multiple times to make sure everything fit properly. i've never drawn alot of these characters ngl, so i was a bit nervous going in so suddenly. i wanted to make all the past villians more, well, villainous looking so i just added some crazed expression and dynamic poses. i especially like how i did susie ngl. like shes giggling so wickedly i love. i gave kirby a more confused expression while bandee is in his usual worried state of mind. i also decided to make meta and dedede make sexual eye contact as lovers sworn partners. however... i decided to take dark crafter and yinyarn out back before telling them to close their eyes because, tbh, i really dont give a fuck about either of them. marx and magolor felt like much more fitting choices in the section of past kirby antagonist as i would consider them far more impactful (and fun to draw) than the ladder pair. also added blade knight cuz sword knight was there and he wasnt?? smh. oh and vul is smoking lmao.

the hardest thing in this entire piece was the line art. originally i did all my lines in black just because it's easier on the eyes when crafting all the pieces together before i layer a blue merge layer on top. i questioned whether or not to use the lineart as both eye-black and metal highlight/shadow but im incredibly happy with the result.

coloring became a tricky subject since my art utilizes very bright, vibrant colors with high chroma. i wanted to stay true to the og by only using the base colors but just... tweaking them a lil bit. i cant resist a good highlight in my art. when it came to nightmare and meta's cape, i am a longtime subscriber to the hc that meta is like his "son" in a way so i wanted to make a nod to that by making the gradient and star-design pattern of their cloaks the same.

to be honest, this was so much fun. but holy SHIT my back is on fire. shoutout to anyone who actually read this monstrosity of an artist's explanation, ur a real one. thank you guys so much for ur support and ill see yall eventually with another dumb kirby post <3.

Everytime I see Hidden Inventory Arc characters, it always feels like going back to the past. So the concept of immortalising this precious Yuuji bowl into a Polaroid photo feels fitting. And without me even realising it, the outcome feels… cheerful? A bit romcom-ish? Despite the amount of black clothes and hair, the vibe is really light. It feels weird as I usually draw in a rather sombre tone, but I found I like this kind of tone as well!

And also because Yuuji deserves all the love :”)

Ah, this fic is truly giving me “healer yuuji for the soul”. Beautiful.

As I drew this, the fic is almost finished, with the future last chapter being a Sukuna chapter! Since I was not sure what their dynamic would look like, I decided he would be a chibi (I was in the mood for a chibi and he’s my sacrificial lamb). It kind of indicates that he’s different. As in not having his own body and cannot hug Yuuji physically haha

Drawing them all was really fun! It was a bit tricky since I couldn’t find references for the pose so I just winging it with my available anatomy knowledge. Bless the college for having black uniforms. Helps a lot lol

Fairytale soiree event by @angelwishess - congatulations on 100+ followers and thank you for hosting the event, i had a lot of fun!!

this is my first time joining a fan event (and drawing an actual card for erice), design notes & clear file under the cut!

jfdghsfgjjksghfdj i didn't think i would have time to draw erice for the event any time soon, but for some reason i didn't feel like working on any of my wips today so i painted the background to relax a bit (and warm up) aaaand ended up with the card done 4 hours later - well, why not!

at the very beginning i wasn't even planning an actual background, but hey whatever happened happened alright (besides, i planned it as a r/sr, and then realized i was having a lot of fun rendering - but not enough motivation for a dynamic pose... we got an in between, i guess?)

at some point, i added firefly everywhere, and the piece ended up looking SO cluttered..... so i erased all of them except the one she's holding - and i feel like i lost a bit of what i wanted to convey, but it looks better than it did before, so it's fine!

on one side, i wish i spent more time polishing the pose, etc, on the other, damn i wanted this done today

my first thought was the yellow dress, and i was almost sure i'd go with it but still decided to do some other sketches for fun - and in case another idea popped up i don't usually ramble too much about her lore outside of dms, but the thing with erice is that she very likely doesn't believe this kind of outfit/event would suit her - since she's a bit more... brash than she'd like, among other things (read : as much as she wishes she could wear fancy dresses, she definitely doesn't feel comfortable doing so because of her usual temperament/sweet self esteem issues, kind of), so upon wearing such a dress she would probably go "wait, this is wayyyy too delicate for me, i need to change back into my usual clothes NOW"

so, i ended up going for the simple white, knee-length dress thinking it was what suited her the best - and here came another problem : it does look the right mix of formal and simple for her, but it very definitely doesn't look fairy-like, at all... at the same time, i wanted to keep the shape, to keep it simple - to have something she would enjoy wearing that would still fit the theme, so i added a butterfly pattern and transparent fabric over the dress - cute and simple enough that she can enjoy herself without worrying too much about how mismatched she thinks her looks and personality are... my daughter she's so precious to me

while i was drawing the actual piece, i ended up adding a bonus layer to her skirt because it looked a bit empty without it - it also helps making the dress shape look more.... logical lol

Aren't they supposed to be on different teams?Are they dating?

They may seem sweet and cute to the outsider but actually they're insulting each other in a very passive aggressive way.

This is volleyball AU! It wasn't even on purpose just a fun pose I found. But I am so hyped up about this dynamic I was thinking about when I was drawing..

I was thinking about the positions they could have and for Dongsik I was almost sure in making him a hitter but then I thought about libero(defensive position) and YES it fits so nicely with his character! He would be a fundament of the whole team, saving them every time they make a mistake, also lifting the mood of the team with his smiles and intimidating the opposite team with his unhinged laughter. (Yes he has long hair again but he looks like Asahi tho:( And the manbun!)

He's also the eyes of the team, noticing everything everywhere and quickly reacting. He would be known outside of the team as this man who sees your every move. And his insane strategies and plots would always confuse other teams. So making him the team captain makes sense. (I couldn't find out if liberos are allowed to be captains, they seemed to review that rule but idk, we just imagine he can).

Joowon on the other hand... I think his strength would be technical stuff, like his technique is really precise, because of how determined he is with his training. Because of how long he perfected it. Setter fits him so well idk. He's really similar to Kageyama if I think about it, cannot work with other people for the life of him, really heated in the game, determined. He will be the one with endless energy running around the court, always emotional and because of that always getting caught in Dongsik's traps and tricks, so doing a lot of dumb stuff basically.

But when they're both on the same team.. Dongsik would calm Joowon down, get him more focused, set his determination on the right path.

Joowon on the other hand is such a skillful player not only as a setter but also at any other position he plays in. His skills would maximize the potential of the team when he learns how to work with other people. He would be the force of the team.

Dongsik being a libero would be that one person who's got your back, always behind you, and for Joowon that person who will always be there to catch him.(Yes, as in him catching him when he falls to the bottom of hell).

And obviously flirting in front of their team like everyone genuinely doesn't get if they're dating or not.

And that's so perfect for them I got sentimental while drawing this😭😭 I was sitting there and grinning at my thoughts like a madman. Like I felt so happy I thought about designing the whole team, bye- How can I be so obsessed with these two freaks that they make me so happy?

honestly the best route is to just open up a fnaf-related tag you enjoy and follow a bunch of artists that catch your eye n go from there :P these guys aren't exclusively fnaf artists but u should follow @skeletoninthemelonland and @rippedinu if u dont already i like their stuff a lot. i know i follow more than them on herebut im having trouble Remembering

i do not know of any currently ongoing fnaf dtiys tho im afraid. i tried taking a peek and im not sure how to search for it either. whenever im struggling with inspiration i usually look at art or watch some art-related video on youtube (speedpaints are the most efficient for that). lookin up pose references on pinterest will get you a bunch of really dynamic ones that can help for inspo too. or like. sometimes i just convert a particularly vibey song into a drawing. favorite one ive done in that department r these two so you get what i mean (under the readmore)

I'm not like, an art blog or anything but if anyone is feeling super discouraged as all this ai shit roles through and is maybe thinking 'art is so hard and impossible to achieve without years and years of practice, i might as well use ai because it's the only way to make what I'm envisioning', I made this in like two hours:

I'm not an artist and you can probably see that. Pretty much all art I have done is either done by my brother or commissioned. I have 0 art training, I don't draw on the regular, last time I seriously drew was probably a couple of years ago. And I did this in two hours. I looked up a bunch of things, used plenty references, googled stuff like 'pose references' and 'how to draw boots' and here is the result. Just like, don't be discouraged, art is not some mystic skill only a chosen few can master. All I needed to draw this can be found in any store that sells school supplies and some time and effort. You got this, I love you, never give in to the easier path.

And now me rambling about the process under cut cuz I had a bunch of fun!

So this is a drawing of one of my dnd characters. She's an eladrin (fairy flavored elf for the uninitiated) and her original class was barbarian but I'm going to reclass her into a druid next time I play her because I decided it fit her backstory more.

Here's her initial design from like two years ago

The concept was 'barbarian but she's a magical girl lol' and a darker color scheme prevailed because I was trying to fit her into a CoS campaign :I I ended up changing characters hvhnvh. Anyway since I decided to reclass her into a druid and focus on her backstory more, making her a more serious and grounded character, I decided to switch from a lolita inspired style to a mori kei inspired one instead. At least when it came to styling and layering. I decided to leave colors leaning more towards pastel pinks to keep the original hyper fem feeling of the character. I also decided to change her hairstyle from twin tails to twin braids to give her a more mature look reflecting her more thoughtful and reflective rebranding. I kinda wanted to make her braids even longer but uhhh drawing braids is kinda confusing to me but I did my best anyway.

Pose is always the hardest part of drawing for me aaaaa, I'm shit at judging proportions and not nearly passionate enough to try and do that part slowly and precisely so I usually just kinda end up winging it. I also gave up on the legs cuz like...I'll give her a dress anyway :I...have I mentioned I'm not an artist. Her pose doesn't have much to do with her character the way it does in her original picture, I honestly just wanted an easy pose to draw so I can show off hair and outfit. Dynamic poses make drawing clothes a lot harder for me (if u would call the pose in the og pic dynamic...once again I'm not an artist)

Hair and outfit are like my fav parts to do and what I spend the most time on, from looking up references, to trying to get it just right, to making little tweaks and changes to trying to do my best with store bought colors to get the colors just right. The part where her shawl and braid and top of the dress are was the hardest to make sense of and I did my best about it hzbhjbhj hopefully it looks nice. Also the top of her dress was a test bunny for how i wanted to combine brown and beige for her dress and i accidentally used the wrong and stronger shade of brown, hence the top looks different...drawing by hand hard. Also yeah I did change the positioning of one of her legs between pose sketch and outfit sketch...I couldn't figure out how to draw a boot like that.

Here are some outfit references I used! I took elements from all of these (the white bits are supposed to be lace but like...I'm just one girl with a pen).

That's about it :3 I'm very happy with it, she ended up super cute. I honestly surprised myself with how good it looks. It reminded me how much I actually like drawing hair and outfits, I used to do that a bunch back in high school and college. I should play more girls in dnd so I can draw more cute outfits. I can't draw men because if I try to draw a man I will die.

Here she is! I honestly had tons of fun with this design despite how simple it is, since I usually don't draw super fluffy cats! Hope you like it!

A couple of notes on my ideas for this design/thought process:

When I read the description for her from the books, she was described as "broad-shouldered" which I tried to portray as best I could by making her semi-muscular

Since in my head Brightheart is tall while Cloudtail is short, I decided to basically give Whitewing her mother's legs and her father's build and fluff lol (This way in my head if I ever design Dovewing and Ivypool I can make Ivy tall like her mom and dad since I think Birchfall would be kinda tall/lanky and Dove shorter like her grandpa, while keeping both of them pretty muscular!)

I made all her fur very fluffy and soft looking to not only evoke feathers since her name is WhiteWING, but also just wind/weather/snow since she is described as being white like snow at some point, I believe. Honestly, I can't remember.

I TRIED like super hard to think of a more dynamic pose for her but alas couldn't think of anything. I hope you enjoy regardless!

Doll Pose Ideas!

Myself and many others have often complained about a lack of doll pose ideas. What's the point of having all of these dolls with incredible articulation if you don't use it?

I've figured out a solution

Official doll art!! I'll be using Monster High dolls with this example, but if your doll has decent articulation, it can be applied to them too.

Official doll art is great because the people who drew it have a great hold on the character's personality and draw them in interesting and dynamic poses that are (normally) doable in doll form. Take for example, this Abbey art

The bent arm and knee offer a cute pose that I never would have thought to do with my doll, but it is totally possible.

It's not as dynamic as the original art, but it is something new and interesting for the dolls on my shelf. Here are a few more dolls and the respective art they were posed from

Another thing you can play around with is props

So many of the dolls came with little props like purses, umbrellas, pets, etc that are so fun to incorporate into poses. Another one of my favorites is these printable books from the series found here

*Some of the poses might be difficult if your ghouls have loose limbs, of which there are a plethora of methods for fixing. Most of them, however, scare me. So my go-to is a tiny clear elastic hair tie wrapped around and tucked into the joint. Works like a charm!*

just gonna ramble about some Ultrakill/Portal crossover thoughts don't mind me

(considering The End of All Known Land canon for these thoughts, i.e. a world where Gabriel and V1 are the only ones to get out of Hell)

Chell hates robots with all her soul and would try to fucking annihilate V1 if she thought they posed even a sliver of a threat but V1 would be so fucking excited at the prospect of another human. like obviously if they were still in a situation where they needed blood, they'd kill her without a second thought, but now? they're just FASCINATED by the question of "how did a human SURVIVE" and they want to know everything

V1 inner monologue: oh boy a new sparring partner!!! wow they have a cool new kind of gun I've never seen before!! that would've been soooo helpful back in hell. I wonder if that's how they escaped? and they're quiet just like me! I wonder if their organic voicebox is broken? or do they just not have one? can humans not have one?

GLaDOS would fucking despise Gabriel because he's sooooo full of himself. She doesn't even need to hear him say anything robot-racist, She's already decided She hates him and wants him dead. an "angel?" yeah, right. sounds just like another human ripe for the picking. let's see how high-and-mighty you are when you're in my TESTING DOMAIN! DO MY PUZZLES, BOY!!!

Gabriel is like wow this robot is stuck up and has some serious issues but also I am uncomfortable with how much of myself I see reflected in her. hmmmm. yeah I'll try your puzzle, tell me more about your deep-seated hatred of organics and particularly this one that keeps ruining the facility you run and is the only one to ever beat you in a fight. mhm. yeah so quick question have you ever thought about trying to fuck—

(EXPLOSION AND GUNFIRE)

meanwhile if Chell ever met Gabriel on the surface it'd make for such a good tense encounter. bc she is hiding behind a tree in full fight-or-flight mode wondering "how did another human SURVIVE" and also second question "how did they get such sickass wings and where can I get a pair?"

and then Gabriel noticing her would ALSO send him into fight-or-flight mode but only for a moment because of the pure shock of, again, "HOW DID A HUMAN SURVIVE" before curiosity completely overtakes him and he tries to talk to her. trying to get her to talk and not attack or run is like trying to coax a wild injured animal out of a hiding spot. but he eventually manages to earn the barest, most minimal amount of trust by setting down all his weapons and leaving offerings of food in front of her.

...this gets harder when she sees Gabriel and V1 together and registers that they're allies. she's unsure if they're plotting against her or if V1 is manipulating Gabriel. eventually she leans towards the latter and thinks her fears are confirmed when she witnesses them drawing Gabriel's blood while he's sleeping.

she tries to communicate this to him by drawing crude pictures on the ground and is VERY FRUSTRATED when he's like "omg can you not talk? that's ok!! V1 also can't talk but we make it work, they're really incredibly kind and patient and—"

Chell, internally: I AM GOING TO KILL THAT FUCKING ROBOT AND SAVE YOU

I think it would be funny for V1 to try and go urban exploring in Aperture. GLaDOS is initially all excited because a new testing robot literally fell right into Her clutches but then V1 proceeds to be the most stubborn, impudent, tenacious piece of shit and they remind her WAY TOO MUCH OF CHELL so now She's trying to kill them but they have ACTUAL FUCKING GUNS and Aperture is being destroyed in the wake of their battle

meanwhile V1 has decided they don't like this robot but also She makes fun tests. so they do puzzles until they get bored and then they blast holes through the wall and try to kill Her

something something Ultrakill is just Portal for NBs (everyone knows Portal is for women) and I'm so fascinated by the similar dynamics of the toxic yuri/toxic yaoi robot-and-human pairs. and I think they would mostly hate each other and I love that for them.

(also something something GLaDOS is too far gone, too corrupted in Her immortality, and too deep in denial for any possible healthy ending with Chell—it's just not possible. so seeing Gabriel and V1 in a healthy and loving relationship would make Her SO FUCKING MAD for reasons She can't articulate)

The Hunter Becomes The Hunted

Summary: On another hero hunt, Garou sets his sights on a S-Rank Hero by the name of Gorgeous Gladiator, a magical girl hero, and gets more than he bargained for.

A/N: Have you ever fallen on your back so hard the wind gets knocked out of you? It’s not fun and it hurts so bad that you want to eat somebody lol. Nothing romantic in this but maybe in a future fic. Wrote this cause I recently started OPM and fell for Garou so hard that I wanted to break the bricks off of him.

So far, Garou has not made it a point to add female heroes to his hunts. Mainly based off the fact that there’s not a lot of high ranking ones.

Tornado of Terror proved to be evasive, she wouldn’t give him the time of day and clearly regarded him as merely a nuisance that didn’t deserve her attention.

However, there was another one that was way easier to get to.

Real name? Unknown to public, obviously. But you’re hero name? Gorgeous Gladiator. A magical girl looking hero surrounded in bright colors. Honestly, to him you looked like a joke.

He didn’t understand what children (or anyone for that matter) saw in you because to him, you were like an aged out idol trying to desperately cling to the popularity of your youth. (That was rude bitch)

‘Pathetic.’ He thought when he watched coverage of you defeating a demon level monster and posing for the cameras.

Though, he will admit it was cute watching the crowd of children mimic you. During one post-battle interview, you struck your signature poses and spouted your signature line.

You.

“Gorgeous Gladiator, I save the innocent!” You hit a Pirouette before winking at the camera with a peace sign. “And destroy the villainous!”

And the kids watching the broadcast followed suit. Each of them flashing their own unique pose.

In hindsight, he wonders if those kids noticed something about you that the adults never caught onto because some of their poses made them look like little henchmen to a villain, not the pupils of a magical girl.

He probably would have completely changed his mind on targeting you but you found him first.

The Day of The Encounter

He had just wasted some weak hero desperate to prove himself by trying to take out the infamous ‘hero hunter’.

Of course, said hero was beaten to a pulp but just as Garou was about to walk away…

“Gorgeous Love Boop!”

He turned to see you posing as you sent off an attack. A pathetic one at that. A small, slow moving attack that was making its way to him…………………

………………♥️……………

Slowly but surely.

You were in your civilian clothes holding a bag of groceries. You didn’t look like you were ready for a fight.

“You messing with me? You know who I am and this is all you—”

A sudden urge overtook him as he jumped back from the small bubble. He watched with intensity as the bubble collided with a pole and merely popped.

‘It…it wasn’t a bomb?’ He thought. The bubble was so small and slow, it was clearly supposed to throw people off. ‘It wasn’t a trap?’

Your giggling cut the tension. “Aww, is the big bad hewo hunter scared of bubble gum? And here I thought you’d be a threat.”

“You…” He growled.

“Oh well.” You shrugged and turned your back to him.

That pissed him off, unaware that he was playing into your hands.

The monster dashed around to your front, launching a punch to your face. You caught it with ease, shocking him. Your palm enclosed his fist and while it looked like you were softly holding his fist, Garou’s perspective was VASTLY different.

Around his fist was a grip so tight, it felt like you were trying to crush an egg. Your fingers dug into his hands and he was sure you were trying to draw blood.

“The other heroes called you a monster. I wonder what color you bleed…monster.” You had said that last bit with such malice, that he forgot the dynamics in play.

Garou was so focused on your hand squeezing his that he failed to notice the bigger red flag. His eyes looked up to see your mouth contorted into a menacing grin. Your canines baring and everything.

You were like a hungry beast.

You came to him.

You were looking for him.

The hunter was being hunted.

Like a scared animal, Garou attacked again, attempting to send his other fist into your face but once again, you caught it.

“I was starting to think you were purposefully avoiding me, hunter. I’ll admit, it hurt. I was SO excited to hear about you and waited like a kid waiting for Santa Claus. But then you never showed up when I defeated those monsters. I even made sure not to look exhausted to show I was ready for a fight just in case you only fight heroes that are ready. But then I thought of something worse, maybe I wasn’t even on your list because I was a woman. Y’know some heroes are sooo 1700s. They have such backwards views on female warriors. I don’t mind the ones who wanna be gentlemen and all but the ones that annoy me are the ones that think they’re stronger than me cause they’ve got dicks when they couldn’t even beat a wolf level threat at tic-tac-toe. I’ve been fighting monsters for years while they were still trying to get girls to talk to their sorry asses. Being a villain wouldn’t have worked out too much for me, y’see? My patron and I realized that a long time ago. But a hero? It’s perfect. Villains ain’t got no morals. No chivalry. No code of honor. They never cared that I was a little girl and they always went all out. The monster problem in Japan was a dream come true but there was competition for the big fish and then you showed up, hunter. My precious golden goose sitting pretty on my alter of blood.”

Your rambling had caught him off guard and all he could think was:

‘What…the fuck…is we…DOING?’

“So let’s dance, MONSTER!” Then, you delivered a mean knee to his jaw (with sparkly vfx to add insult to injury) stirring him out of his shock as he was pushed backwards.

He was hunting you and you were trying to be found yet he wasted time and energy on nothing heroes and you were waiting for him. Like a demented princess in a tower waiting on a knight with a dagger behind your back.

There was no dragon around your tower. You WERE the dragon and the princess was an illusion made of nets.

You flashed your normal peace sign as seen in the interviews, but you slowly positioned your two fingers in front of your forehead, mimicking a demon.

That set off your transformation in a cloud a smoke that overtook the whole area. It’s flashy on tv but in real life? Garou saw it clearly, this was a deliberate tactic.

He felt his edginess flare up.

‘Where did you go?’

“Since sneaks are allowed…!” You shouted, you voice carried a menacing echo.

He felt the air shift behind him. He spun around and blocked you kick attack. You had tried descending onto him with an axe kick and the force was something else.

With your attack blocked, you jumped back a bit.

“So, monster, you gonna go all out? Or are you just a pup?” You asked with an evil smirk.

You kept calling him monster. Sure, all of the heroes he had beaten bloody called him a monster but there was something…deliberate about how you did it.

Like……ohhhh.

It was deliberate.

No one will stop you from beating a monster to a pulp. Oh…so you were a monster too.

“Ok…I understand it now.” He said calmly.

“Oh? Do you now? Well then, what’s it gonna be, monster?”

Finally getting into it. Garou smirked. “Let’s dance, hero.”

The grin on your face grew larger. You wasted no time in charging towards Garou again, swinging your scepter toward him like a bat. Much like the kick, he blocked it.

But you wasted no time, snapping out of his vision. He tried anticipate it.

‘She’s coming from up top again!’

He felt his balance shift as you appeared behind him and ducked down, delivering a sweeping kick to the back of both of his ankles, effectively sweeping him off his feet.

Another opponent probably would’ve fell straight to the floor. But Garou wasn’t going to let himself become your next sacrifice.

Once his back touched the ground, Garou kicked up back onto his feet, clearly quicker than you anticipated which allowed him to punch you square in the stomach, sending you sliding back.

The punch hurt. There’s no point in denying that. You can see how so many lower ranked heroes get clonked out so easily and badly.

“How’s that…hero?” Garou chuckled.

You began nodding. “Yeah…yeah…I understand it now.”

“Well, then stop holding back on me! Or else I’ll kill you, right here and now.” He spoke the last part with such a menacing tone.

“Am I not going all out now?” You asked with an annoyingly sweet voice.

He glared at you for a moment. “You haven’t used your plastic toy at all.”

“It’s called the Scepter of Eternity…in public.”

“And in private?”

“The Scepter of Sacrifice. I only use it for serious threats, though.”

Garou didn’t appreciate your little jokes.

“Aw come on. It was just a joke, monster. Monsters can take jokes, can’t they?”

He flashed out of your vision.

“Apparently not.” You muttered.

You then quickly pulled out your scepter and braced yourself for his next attack. Firmly gripping the rod, you resonated with it causing it to glow your signature color and with a determined look, you called out one of your spells.

“Love Love Protect!”

A hardened shield enveloped you in time to catch Garou attempting the same axe kick you did earlier. When he tried to distance himself, he found that he couldn’t move.

Your voice was haunting. “What type of monster hunter would I be if I let catches escape?”

Sparks of electricity then began to materialize around the shield as you raised a hand and snapped your fingers, sending a shockwave of electricity outward and nearly roasting the hero hunter.

While the shield did let him go, he was shocked. Pieces of his clothes began to show weariness and parts of his skin were on their way to smelling like burnt flesh.

Garou knew that if he faced you, that Scepter of yours would be a challenge. He’s seen your fights in bits and pieces on the news. You didn’t exactly NEED it to use magic but it seemed to help for stronger attacks. Additionally, when you need it to, it can transform into other weapons.

One such battle you had turned it into an axe and decapitated hordes of zombies. Another battle saw you wrangling monstrous pigs with it as a lasso.

In hindsight, maybe he shouldn’t have egged you on to pull it out but his ego won’t allow him to beat an S-Rank hero at only half their strength.

When shit gets rough, he’ll just have to separate you from the scepter.

Garou charged towards you at break neck speed, leading the both of you into a vicious scramble. One that saw him needing to counter every one on of your attacks.

Blissfully ignorant of the destruction around you. You’ll deal with that earful from the Association later. Right now, you needed this. Months and months of dealing with mindless monsters who couldn’t last longer than ten minutes.

You NEEDED this.

There Garou stood, bruised and bloody. He was struggling to maintain his breathing as a cut above his eye kept leaking. You were doing better…only slightly. The benefit of being a magical being but that didn’t mean you were in the clear. Garou had successfully marked your skin with some bruising hits. Sure, you can heal faster than he could but it didn’t stop it from hurting.

A savage uppercut sent flying into the air before Garou appeared above your ascending form and brought a vicious axe handle down onto you torso, sending you flying hard into the ground, creating a small crater.

The air was knocked out of you but you couldn’t take a moment of reprieve. You knew that. Garou came down again, this time looking to practically put a dent into your stomach with a falling stomp. One that you managed to dodge in the nick of time with a roll, leaving Garou’s missed attack to create an even bigger crater.

Garou could only watch as your signature color washed over you and you charged at him. He prepped himself to be speared but that wasn’t the case as you launched yourself into the air to deliver a powered dropkick that sent Garou completely though a nearby clothing store.

You thought you would’ve had a moment to catch your breath but Garou was no longer going to let you keep your current strategy going.

‘She keeps sending me off to catch her breath…she’s testing me…she wants to see how safe it’ll be to up close and personal. I should let her think she can get closer and strike.’

He had managed to catch himself before he hit a wall and quickly charged back towards you. He managed to catch you off-guard with an elbow to the gut, sending you flying backwards with your spine hitting a lamppost but if Garou thought he had you, he was wrong because then he saw you rip the lamppost out from it’s mechanical roots before you launched the pole towards him in a fit of rage.

“THAT HURT, YOU DICKHEAD!” You shouted.

“Wha….IT WAS SUPPOSED TO! DO YOU THINK THIS IS A GAME?!”

You let out a fierce war cry before charging towards him at nearly light speed.

‘Is this the spear?’

Nope!

Instead, you firmly wrapped your arms around Garou’s waist, lifting the hero hunter off of the ground and squeezing tightly, fully enveloping him into a straining Bear Hug. Garou felt like his bones were being ground together and you were not trying to let him go any time soon.

This proved to him your style. You mixed in professional wrestling into your book of moves but since most of your enemies were giant monsters, it was clear that you never had more opportunities to use more of these up close and personal moves.

But this was his opening.

He took the opportunity to chop you on the back of your neck. The pain causing you to loosen your grip on him but you did so by throwing him overheard towards where the lamppost once was.

Now the both of you both needed a moment. The rage fueled adrenaline was now wearing off and the spine inflicted on your spine was going into effect. Meanwhile, Garou wanted to get his breathing back to normal.

But your faster healing struck again, as you summoned your scepter once more. Garou began prepping himself for whatever attack you had in store.

CRASH!!

A thunderous sound of destruction a few blocks over caught the attention of the both of you.

You looked at each other, Garou could see your eyes desperately darting over to the source of the noise.

You’d be in trouble wouldn’t you? This close to a monster attack and didn’t immediately rush to the scene? You’d probably be hit with some penalty.

Another opportunity! But just as he was about to charge at you, he heard screaming. Screaming that sounded like children. You both exchanged glances before you huffed.

“Get yourself cleaned up, monster, we’ll finish this later. Love Love Cloud!” You shouted, manifesting a heart balloon object big enough for you to ride on and flew to the sound of the noise.

Garou could only look on in frustration, spitting some blood onto the ground before running off.

This was DEFINITELY not over.

Lavinia

I based her more on Rottmnt and used a red-eared slider. Although her weapons and personality are more similar to the 2012 version. I incorporated Big Mama's assistant uniform for her arena outfit. I also made one of her legs have a stocking so her tattoo is covered, she really doesn't want anyone recognizing her. There wasn't much of a thought process for the tattoo, I just thought it was pretty. The four main turtles + April all have matching charms from Mikey. Lav's is a few bracelets. Ever since she transitioned, she usually keeps her mask tails in a bow. 

Donnie

Again, I based Donnie more on Rottmnt, using a spiny soft shell. I wanted some sort of serperated Au to cause a little drama and I came up with the idea of Dee, Usagi, and Venus being raised in TCRI. I really liked the goggles from Rottmnt, so I gave them an actual purpose(color blindness). I also thought it would be cute for Dee and Lav to have matching heterochromia, as they were twins in Rottmnt and most people headcanon them to have opposite heterochromia. I still wanted to have some sort of twin dynamic and I thought Mikey and Dee being twins would be adorable. I had the most fun drawing Dee cuz they're my favorite and they were where this whole AU came from. Also I thought them getting scared of electricity/being shocked while also being an inventor would give lots of opportunities for more angst. Donnie's charms are the paint stripes on their battle shell.

Raph

I didn't really base Raph's turtle type off of anything, I just thought it would look cool, so I used a diamondback terrapin. I see the 2012 version definitely having tattoos, so I created one resembling his brothers (took me ages to come up with that lol). I also copied the burnt mask tails from 2012. Raph was the hardest trying to color because I just couldn't get his skin to look right. His charms are the earrings on his mask tails (he added one for Casey).

Mikey

Again, I didn't base the spotted turtle of off anything, but I did include 2012 Mikey's freckles and Rottmnt Mikey's stickers and kneepads. I've always headcanoned all Mikeys as gender fluid, so it just made sense for this Mikey too. I based the bracelet pronoun idea off of something I used to do. I just really wanted an excuse to draw a skirt and she seems like the type to wear one so. Mikey was probably the easiest to draw. Her charms are the bead keychain on her belt.

Yuichi

It was interesting drawing Usagi because I've never watched the show, only read Leosagi fanfic. But I really wanted to include him, so his personality is probably so off lmao. I wasn't sure how to add him in, so I decided to have them be in TCRI with Venus and Dee. I feel like he looks a bit basic, but I wasn't sure what to add. Their child version gave me a bit of a problem because the fur was so hard to draw to make it seem like it wasn't styled. 

April

I based April more on the Rottmnt version. I've never been good at drawing hair, and I had a lot of trouble with hers. I also gave her vitiligo because I saw a really cool fanart on Pinterest lol. She always seemed like a yellow character, so I tried to incorporate that too. I wanted her and Dee to have a close relationship like in Rottmnt. Also I figured she tends to steal their clothes because it's pretty cold in the sewers and she always seems to 'forget' that. Her charms are the beads in her hair. 

Casey

I based Casey completely on 2012. I had a few different poses I wanted to draw for him, but this was the easiest and I was already getting burnt out from drawing so much lol. I felt like 2012 Casey would definitely have tattoos, so I added a couple. Some are significant like the butterfly for his mother and the little stickman from Mikey. But others aren't like the planet and the Cosmo swirl.

Venus

I wasn't going to draw Venus initially. I drew the previous characters a few months ago and figured I was done. But then I was re-reading 'Rises the Moon' and figured I need to include Venus in the future, so I figured why not draw them. I had a lot of fun with this one, since it's based off a zombie look. I also got inspo from the IDW comics, but had them have yellow instead of light blue because there are already two blue characters. SO I guess it's a mix of Venus and Jennika? Idk. Anyway I don't have really anything planned for them yet, but they'll definitely be included in the future.

Wolverine #8 Thoughts:

Thank god Romulus stayed away from Laura.

I was damn close on calling that plot twist. Like stupidly close.

I'm a sucker for a simple Wolverine Samurai story. Though, can confirm, no explicitly stated Akihiro appearance.

Spoilers below:

The Adamantine arc of the main story is resolved. Logan beat Romulus, the Adamantine then rejected Romulus as champion, offering the role to Logan instead. Naturally, Logan rejected it, attempted to stab it, and the Adamantine retreated with Romulus, releasing everyone else that had been possessed.

Logan rejoins Laura, and Kurt + Wendigo Kid Leonard pick them up with the Blackbird.

The end.

Story 2:

Logan + Wendigo Kid Leonard are captured by Arcade. Logan fights through robots plus twisted memories, struggling to keep his own animal in check, encouraging Leonard to do the same. For some reason, after rescuing Logan from a tank of acid, Leonard drops dead, only to be reborn as himself once more (no more wendigo). The explanation/assumption is that the old gods of Canada decided to grant him a second chance for his selfless acts and continued efforts in maintaining his humanity despite the curse. Logan returns Leonard home, stays for dinner, then grabs a motel room. Then, Logan gets a mysterious letter from none other than his own mother! (Presumably. If it's not a trick.)

Story 3:

I was excited for this one, and I can't say I was disappointed!

It was a very simple tale of revenge with just the right balance of action, atmosphere, and storytelling.

We begin with an old man recounting a tale of a vengeful spirit.

Years ago, Logan found his village destroyed, in flames, with the people massacred . In his despair, he clutches the young boy, lost in grief for those he failed to protect.

We return to the present, where a greedy, corrupt lord is feasting. He admonishes the old man, who in return, makes a snarky comment asking if slaughtering women and children is really fighting?

Pissed, the lord slaps him. But the old man can only smile, reminding him that a mere man would be eager and lustful, but a vengeful spirit -- an onryo, only need march along his path.

Then, a vassal/servant announces an armed intruder is approaching from the outskirts. The lord orders him to be shot, and then they do, with bows and arrows.

It does not work.

Drawing his sword, Logan begins slaughtering them all.

The lord calls for his horse, but it is of no use. Logan takes him down too. Dropping his sword, Logan has decided this evil bastard doesn't even deserve a proper blade.

Using his claws, Logan puts an end to his reign of terror.

Coming up behind him, the old man asks: "Will you release your swords and find peace?"

Collapsing to his knees, Logan replies "I cannot. I am cursed."

(I'm paraphrasing the above, so imagine really cool dialogue, or you know, read the issue yourself, lol)

My thoughts:

I haven't really been keeping up with the main Wolverine story too closely, because I sorta lost interest. It's going through all the motions of being a Wolverine story, but I'm not really vibing with it, personally.

The story by Daniel Warren Johnson was phenomenal though! It was short, to the point, and impactful. I'd say it's very action driven, excellent example of "show, don't tell" in storytelling. Lots to infer and process as well. Very fun for me.

Art was amazing -- colors are peak, the poses and action are dynamic, pacing was flawless.

So, this is an alternative universe standalone-type story.

The backstory scene does not explain at all who the young boy was. I mean, it never explicitly says and leaves it a bit open to interpretation.

HOWEVER! In my own little interpretation of Logan's body language/facial expressions, it ~would~ make a helluva lot of sense if it was his son (most likely an alternative universe Akihiro). Imagine, returning home one evening, possibly after running some sort of errand -- one that requires you to leave home for a couple of days. You have a son, a fierce, independent boy. You know he can take care of himself, but you can't help but worry anyway. Maybe you'd ask one of the neighbors to check up on him anyway. You finally return home to find the little bit of peace you carved out for yourself, the sliver of happiness in your long, bloody life, up in flames.

Fearing the worst -- even though the full impact of the situation hasn't sunken in yet, you rush home to find your son dead in your house -- the very house you built with your own two hands during the more tranquil times, the blissful times as you built a little family for yourself, thinking (perhaps deluding) yourself into believing some cobbled-together semblance of peace is truly possible for you.

Then, in the hushed whispers of dying embers, with the odor of drying blood overwhelming your senses as your own heartbeat drowns out everything else around you, the pain in your chest cutting deeper than any sword and yet leaving you more hollow and empty than you've ever been, you clutch your son's lifeless body as it grows cold in your arms.

Then, after an eternity in silence as the fire dies down around you, your home burned to ash, something inside you snaps, and the earth runs red...

Anyways!

Maybe it's just fan ideas on the brain, but it does remind me quite strongly of how he failed to protect Akihiro. His only son, dead in his arms, leaving him hollow with rage and vengeance. I mean, why else would he be clutching a young boy so fiercely and so stricken if it wasn't his? For example, why not a lover like Mariko and/or Itsu or another. It's a definite storytelling choice, that's all I'm saying. I dig it.

I could in fact be completely off-base, but I do enjoy speculating and this was certainly a fun story to do so. Like I said, it's short 'n sweet, a classic tale of revenge. Story was excellent. Art was even better. It really hits a sweet spot for me and I enjoyed it immensely.

And now I have to wait four weeks for Hellverine :/

This is a gift for an angel.

I don’t like to be very open about my personal life and I’m not too fond of PDA but this painting is something particularly special. We always share our interests and every time that happens, I feel it only makes our bond stronger, especially with Good Omens. We both feel so connected with these characters individually as they seem so similar to us. I remembered a particular lovely idea he mentioned involving the two of them, so I decided to make it into a painting for him.

Process:

I’ve doodled Crowley a few times before because David Tennant facial structure is just a bit interesting to me, but it also posed a little bit of a challenge to capture his likeness since he has a few features that i haven’t drawn like his ever before; I had to force myself to forget some of my typical techniques of drawing things (mainly the chin and the lips, and subtle facial details of muscles I don’t know the names of) I still think there’s more to improve and stylise for his face but it’s the best I could do.

This was my first time drawing Aziraphale however, but it didn’t give me a difficult time. I think there’s a bit more room for improvement for his likeness, but I’m happy with it.

Colours for this painting was so satisfying and fun, a lot less hellish than I expected too. I did an orange underpainting since I thought it would contrast well with the green/blue background, and aid me in picking the right values and tones etc etc. the flashes of the undertone showing through is just one of my favourite things.

Surprisingly after I had blocked out the background colours I didn’t need many colour references at all, I went with my instincts and applied the things I’ve learnt about colour theory over the years which led me the whole way.

I also used a slight hue, saturation and brightness jitter to replicate how tones shift in real life on my brush as a new technique—even though it’s extremely subtle zoomed out, it made it feel so much more dynamic and pretty. I think I’ll be doing this more in the future.

Near completion, it was just a grassy background without tree roots until I showed my friend for feedback. They thought that the blue shadow was water, and I was like “shit, well that means I need to add more context to that blobby shadow…” and in the end I think it definitely helped not only the context of the shading, but the final composition by making it more interesting.

Anyway, thanks for reading my ramble on this process. I am now feverishly awaiting season 3.

This week's Bestiary Posting is a whole menagerie of mammals. Again, labeled version and short descriptions of my thoughts below.

Shmeashagg - needed to be mottled, I also gave it giant claws on it's forepaws so it can "kill at a single bound". Trying to make it look like it could be the parent of a leopard while trying to make it less lion-like. Goggaerker - a bit more of a dynamic pose of it being stuck in a bush; saw-tooth horns, and big fuzzy ears. Brotkarske - a tiny goat with a markhor-style horn, and long legs Revklogwat - I decided to draw a bird since it's feathered and has wings, but I turned it's wings into forelegs. I also gave it ear tufts like a praire chicken, because they're one of my favorites. Shrobshong - was trying to think how horns are supposed to protect you from falling. I went with big curling ibex horns so the animal can never land on it's head and die. Rest of the animal was a combo of a bull and a takin, with a big nose to warm the air up in it's mountain home. Biklanokyo - this one really turned out looking like an alien. Went with a pose/body reminiscent of a horse. Since it needed to carry a huge horn it needed a think neck, and of course, elephant feet and a deer tail Nutogsheag - I don't know where I was going with this one. Just slapped all the mentioned features on it and gave it a long neck for fun. It's got weird protruding cheek bones like an entelodont, or a warthog, but I don't know why - that's just what I was feeling. Raenwegguk - when I thought of animals that embody wildness to me, especially those found in forests, I thought of wild boar and wolves. Smush the two together and add some extra tusks and you get this noble fellow. Klosweisht - originally meant it to be a sort of hyena-like beast, and some of that is still there, but the mention of horns made me redraw the head and legs as more gazelle-like. It's terrifying when it opens it's mouth and I love it. Kregichmon - pouring through the 'what animal groups haven't I drawn' I happened on 'giraffe-moose with bull horns'. Thokragosk - just a puny little friend. Based on a rodent, but the face turned out a little more like a raccoon, which is cute. Kamyaweneg - just a weird little mole. I had the marsupial mole in mind with their weird fleshy snout and sort of extended it into a helmet for this little guy. I know it doesn't have eyes, but I put a dot where I thought an eye would be, because otherwise it's hard to even figure out what this thing is. Moles are just weird. Extremely successful, but weird. Ghrastasag - so the rest of these are primates and I'm gonna be honest: I don't like drawing non-human primates. Even humans-primates tend to be low on the 'things i love to draw' list. So we're gonna have a lot of sketchy stuff heavily relying on references for these last critters. The lack of real description beyond 'ape' for these also is not helping. Ghrastasag is just a fuzzy baboon. Rigfengtog - another baboon, but this one's showing off it's fangs and is significantly less fuzzy. Ngibealgul - a shaggy gorilla creature. This one looks very thoughtful and solemn for some reason. Gerskatrea - these apes are said to have attractive faces, and the two most attractive primates I thought of off the top of my head, are the mandrill and the emperor tamarin. Hence, mandrill with a mustache. No one can resist a curly mustache. Maerdradli - I was pretty burned out at this point so... more of a doodle then anything, but it's an ape, and it's got a beard, and a fat tail, and I also gave it a droopy mustache because I felt bad for it.

Hi, thank you, you are so sweet 😭 It's so fascinating to me because you are not the first person to say my art is fairytale esque and I don't see it at all. But you are also talking to someone who had these kinds of illustrations with their fairytales

LS fairytale AU when? 😂 Thank you for your kind words!! I love our art too! <3 As for how I plan my pieces, there are multiple ways. 1. Idea based: I have the idea of drawing the full 126 for example. I thought about who woud stand next to who about the symbolism of making Owen be the one to look over everyone, of cute poses. THen I looked for references for them. Usually I doodle first, clean up, doodle more, clean up, and try out some colors only to decide for something else. Art and writing for me are a lot of raw to raw plus to almost done to having to be reworked AGAIN because I should have planned a little. 2. I have a folder of references on my pinterest that inspire me to draw it but with Tarlos. More straight forward, though the coloring is equally trial and error. And I rarely plan things out in advance. I do multiple pieces at once sometimes and post as soon as it's 'good enough' only to be angry that I didn't wait a day to look at it with fresh eyes haha How about you? HC for how the show would continue

Judd as captain would surely try to find his footing a bit in it and there would be some friction. Grace would return, because I write this show now and everyone gets paid fairly. She would take Wyatt under her wing. Tarlos would try to navigate being Jonah's parental figures but also husbands. I could see Jonah having some difficulty adjusting too. And I would love to see Carlos be involved in a case that affects him a lot but also relying on TK finally to help him cope with it. TK would find a way to give back to his community and being a sponsor. Also sorry but guy is overdue for a lil injury 😂 Okay I can't write this for every single LS character or this would take ages because I can't keep short. But know that for me what would be a focus would be: friendship even in a new dynamic with some of them being parents. Individual growth of the 126 gang and how their marriages and relationships blossom. But I want 100 Catan nights and young people just having fun outside of relationships too. I know I write mainly romance, but as a viewer, I enjoyed seeing more than that.
