When All the World is Midnight

The best and worst things are forever, and nothing ever lasts. The brain tumor is gone, the damage remains, and I've started to think about my art and writing differently.

In late 2022, an MRI showed I had a brain tumor the size of a jumbo marshmallow smack in the middle of my head. The general consensus was that it had grown there slowly over the past decade—at least. Given certain diagnoses and symptoms I’d received and experienced over the years, this timeline made sense. There are still questions I doubt I’ll get answers to. Did my pituitary gland ever develop…

If we’re gonna talk about Shu being down bad for Valt, we gotta talk about Valt being equally (if not more so) down bad for Shu.

In Burst, Valt’s launch power literally increased almost double in his battle with Naoki after making eye contact with Shu. Shu’s influence on Valt is scientifically measurable, and it’s at least four times as high as even Rantaro’s influence. Valt goes on a paranoid rampage when the idea of Jin injuring Shu is suggested to him. Valt has a crisis when he realizes just how badly Shu’s shoulder is hurting him. During the team battles, Valt is constantly double-checking his decisions with Shu. Valt ugly-cries at the mere thought of Shu not being his friend. Valt’s singular motivation the entire first season is to battle Shu in the Nationals. My guy ain’t even subtle about it.

Evolution/God? Oh, don’t get me started. Valt was devastated that Shu wasn’t answering his letters. His only reason for hating Red Eye at first is that Red Eye has Shu’s Spryzen. (In the manga, he casually bodied a fucking jaguar because Shu was the only thought in his mind.) The Red Eye reveal didn’t faze him for long, but Shu’s dismissal of him had him in tears. His entire emotional dilemma during the International Bladers’ Cup boils down to wondering whether or not Shu has changed for good. Valt can’t manage to be mad at him for ten consecutive minutes.

In Turbo/Cho-Z, if Shu has no fans, Valt is dead.

Surge/Sparking brought back some light angst, but the moment Valt saw how Shu was battling with Lain as his partner, all doubt disappeared from his mind. It was Valt’s idea to have the tag battle vs Hyuga and Hikaru. Valt had undying faith that Shu could absolutely change Lain. Valt’s comedically shocked reaction when Hyuga says he doesn’t know who Shu is was also funny.

I haven’t rewatched the questionably canon QuadStrike in a while, but you can’t tell me Valt didn’t feel Some Type Of Way about Shu dressed in a lab coat.

In conclusion: Shu may be gay for Valt, but Valt is so gay for Shu it started a butterfly effect that leads to the rest of the series.

i love kot kot. i've always loved kot kot. and i'm gonna tell you why.

i think it's a beautiful song, i think it's a banger, i think it's a nostalgic sound, and i think it's an incredibly sad song.

musically, i think kot kot sounds like a summer night in finland. the contrast between the melodic, soaring chorus and the darker, harder verses sounds like walking back and forth between the bright light midnight and the dark clubs or bars or restaurants or something. going from the first verse into the chorus again feels like stepping out from a dark venue and it's 2 am but the light outside is the same as it was when you went in hours ago. it's actually super eerie the way time doesn't seem to move at all during the height of summer in finland. it's a sort of a liminal space that can feel either like never ending horror or an addictive state of true living, depening on how you deal with endless light. 

this is a summer song to me.

i love love love the free flying chorus.

i love love love the old school sound of the verses.

the chorus is beautiful with it's long soaring vowels and lines. the verses are mega bangers that remind of early 2000's music. the echoes of like old school drum and bass, breakbeat etc. are super nostalgic to me and have sent me down the rabbit hole of music from my childhood multiple times since the song came out. and i personally love the contrasts and different sections in the song. i think they go together well, i don't think they clash.

i think jurek and allu have composed a clever song. and honestly allu deserves more recognition across the board i am sorry i've been slipping in that department.

now. to the sad part.

i always felt like the chorus was sort of... wistful and melancholic. but the album puts all of that in a different context. he's not just mr. lonely. he's fucking terrified of being alone. 

"pelottaa, ettei jatkopläänit ehkä osukkaa, kuumottaa tosissaan, osote ois saatava, poket tos jo hoputta siis vastatkaa nyt saatana" meaning "i'm scared that after party plans will fall through, seriously getting jittery about it, i need an address, bouncers are on my case, somebody pick up the phone" like with the context of the full album now, it's really painting a picture of someone who does not want to go home and face being alone with his thoughts.

i remember when the song came out and people had all sorts of headcanons and ideas as to why the second time round the voice on the phone is in english - things like maybe he's making an international call or something. well, the truth is that in finland, that message is always played in three languages: finnish, swedish and english. so why is it in english the second time? honestly in all seriousness i think it's just a little nod to his international fans or something, like i don't think there is a real story reason for it. but if there was.. well, if anything, to me it suggests that he must have stayed on the phone, listening through the whole litany: valitsemaanne numeroon ei juuri nyt saada yhteyttä, kontakt med numret ni har valt fås ej, the number you have dialed cannot be reached. to get to the english part he has already been told twice in two languages that there is no one there, nobody is picking up, but he's still there.

honestly this song more than anything feels like the true pair of autiomaa, because to me, this song is someone trying to avoid feeling exactly the way autiomaa describes. feeling empty, feeling nothing, feeling alone. he says as much: "tää klubi on yht tyhjä ku sen katsoja" meaning this club is as empty as he who is looking at it. he's empty and finding other people to party and hang out with is the only way out of feeling empty, the only way to distract himself from the fact that he is lost.

and so for skit and autiomaa to come right after this? he has reached a breaking point and realised he has to face the nothingness inside.

and again, like with takavoltti, i think this song represents that long standing finnish tradition of writing funny lyrics about difficult subjects. it's also very very typical in finnish culture to make songs that seem to be about drinking on the surface level but are actually not about that. this song builds a lot of very comedic images: him vibing to celine dion alone in a club and refusing to leave, fighting with bouncers etc. and then of course there is the whole chicken thing with kot kot kot. it's funny - except it's not funny at all.

but the thing is, it's okay to find things funny in the song. they both are and are not funny at the same time, because isn't that what life is. i don't think the intention of these songs is to make you feel one specific way, it's just a matter of perspective. and that can change from day to day. so i think it's okay if one day the song breaks your heart on behalf of the käärijä in the story of the song, and on another day you just want to belt out the chorus and dance through the verses. it's all okay, it's all good.

and that's pretty skilled song writing.

hiiiii so I have this headcanon that due to different teams/mentors/upbringing, kit and fubuki just naturally clash and have this REALLY petty rivalry. LET ME EXPLAIN.

ok so the thing is, being really little when they joined their respective teams, they kinda just copied their personalities off of the people around them (because kids do that) and because the Raging bulls and BC so are different/ rivalries, their personalities reflect that so fubuki is like the personified version of the Raging Bulls and Kit is the personified version of BC sol.

so fubuki is: (the parentheses is who they get this from)

very analytical and hardorking (this is just one of their traits, but it was reinforced by shu)

wants to do things the most "straightforward way" (trad)

dry sarcasm (shu and being around his siblings)

petty (shu)

will try their best to win (shu, but also his (fubuki's) parent's terrible upbringing of him)

lawful neutral (just them)

the "smart kid" who works hard and does their best but experiences burn out {they get back up again, tho, and end up being successful in a lot of things} (Shu and their parents)

will try to balance all subjects equally {they're like;; two grades ahead in everything} (Shu)

they have water powers {I like the ideas of elementals like having quirks {mha ref} but its only some of them and its kind of rare, and that's one of the reasons shu adopted them (just them, but shu is also a fire elemental)

and the thing is, you would think that fubuki would get along with kit because he's like a mini shu, HOWEVER, kit is not a mini valt. they were also raised by OTHER members of BC sol...

Kit:

ALSO very analytical and hardorking, but they're also a lot like free and are only like this when they want to be, whereas this is an always for fubuki (both free and valt)

Will do the thing in the way that seems "the most entertaining/beneficial" ex: if an assignment about say, algebra problems, is due, they are going to try and answer all the problems correctly, AND annotate the problems with red marker highlighting all the spelling/grammar mistakes and rewording it to make it more clear, and asking questions like "it asking what's the probability of drawing a queen out of a shuffled deck of 52 cards. Well, wHaT cArdS? pOkeMoN cArDs? How do I know that there's one of every card in the deck? what if they're doubles? what if its a deck of ONLY QUEENS???" (they get the "trying their best" on school assignments from Kris, but the sarcasm is from Silas)

like I mentioned before, SARCASTIC MOTHERFUCKER like this one is actually canon. scene: valt- "Im here for BC sol!" kit- "yEaH, aNd Im An AsTrOnaUt" (definitely Silas but also free)

petty (free and kris)

will try their best to IMPROVE {I have a hc that sometimes they purposefully hold themselves back so they can work on a specific skill so when they battle against someone more strong, their more powerful in that area now} (combination of free's "beyblade is only fun if you win" mentality and valts "beyblade is always fun!" so now they have a "beyblade is only fun if its challenging/entertaining")

chaotic good(just them)

the "disruptive" kid who is REALLY bored in class, either because they're so ahead in this subject or really behind. (valt and free/Kris)

does not balance shit. they really like math and science, so they spend all their time studying that, so they're like 3-5 grades ahead in that, and because of all the reading articles abt the things they like, they have a high reading level {they're just really straightforward too, like "uhh the curtain is red BECAUSE THATS THE COLOR THEY CHOSE?!?!"} they learn best at 3 am when they suddenly get an idea and they dig REALLY deep into it and well now they're an expert in chaos theory. once tried to take an online college course for physics because they thought it was cool when they were 10 but didn't understand the math so then they tried to build on THAT and that's how a 10 year old understands trigonometry {this took them around 3 months to master} and I know I'm like "this person is really smart! :)" yes but also they're SELECTIVELY smart. NO common sense whatsoever one time when something was on fire they were like "the REASON this is on fire is because of a chemical reaction between oxygen and {etc} so we should kill the oxygen molecules :D." and when it doesn't work they're like "oh wait I have wind powers lol i could have just put it out myself" also because they are selectively smart they SUCK at history because of how boring it is. (valt, free, kris)

Im sorry for rambling abt this but the thing is, they are canonically very smart. people keep saying the kurenais are really smart and stuff and they are but they forget that AS A SEVEN YEAR OLD, kit was doing MIDDLE SCHOOL PHYSICS. {WHAT SEVEN YEAR OLD KNOWS WORDS LIKE "configuration" and whatever else they say. I dont understand them sometimes 😭} {they also helped aiger with strategies} (they get this from uhh well, just them but Kris had an influence)

theyre also canonically an elemental {wind powers} (just them, but it was one of the reasons free let them train with him)

honestly I just love this character and it feels like their potential was so wasted 😔 (this is an author's note)

oh, DEFINITLY ADHD (just them, but literally no one in this universe is nuerotypical)

What type of Boa fan would I be if I DIDN'T make an in depth character analysis?

1. The beginning

First Boa appearance, he's some random NPC used as a plot device. He's just one of many others, working themselves to brink. We thought "Oh, guess we're never seeing him again" WRONG!

He works his way up the ranks of the Snake Pit and makes his way back into plot relevancy through sheer willpower. Bravo!!And that's not it, he's apparently Red Eye's number one fan at this point. So, when Red Eye leaves, he follows suit.

He doesn't believe in the Snake Pit, he believes in Red Eye. Boa follows Red Eye around, trying to prove himself as worthy to be Red Eyes protoge. But he's not looking at the right person. He should be trying to prove himself to himself first.

Boa works hard and it pays off! He defeats Ren Wu and gains admiration from his IDOL. On a lighter note, Boa seems like a puppy following his owner (who less than loves him but uhhih).

2. Character development begins

After Red Eye's loss to Lui, Boa was confused. The narrative of Red Eye being the strongest Blader in the world, a narrative that he followed almost RELIGIOUSLY just.. Shattered. Gone. He feels lied to, by Red Eye and Ashtem. (What Shu/Red eye feels here is a rant for another dayyy)

During the World Cup, Boa confronted Ashtem. He's not dumb after all. He saw through it. He knows about the Snake Pit operation, the intentions and how harmful it is.

"I really hate you, you know that?"

Whether Boa wanted to or not, he learned friendship is meaningless, from Red Eye and the Snake Pit. In a dog eat dog world, why make a pact when you can dominate?

Red Eye and Boa didn't have much of a friendship. It was closer to Boa taking notes from Red Eye and then implementing it into his own work.

3. Red Eye/Boa parallel, where they split.

Eventually, he loses. His self worth is already that of a dead rat. Boa never could live up to Red Eyes reputation. Loosing after all that hard work. He's just angry. At the world, at himself.

Much like Red Eye.

He almost destroyed his bey, just like Red Eye. Key difference is that he accepted Valts help.

Hes still a bit of a tsundere but he understands that power isn't everything. Boa now understands what it means to Beyblade. Boa finally accepts himself.

4. His inner conflict

Boa is constantly fighting his inner demons. The ones that tell him he's not good enough. He has a.. Less than desirable relationship with Bahamut, the only scene we see of them communicating (outside of battle) is Bahamut making Boa prove his worth.

Boa doesn't even feel worthy of his Beyblade. Finally, he learns to listen to his bey. They learn to become real partners.

5. Overall character traits

Boa is fairly intelligent, yet easily guided. If he falls under bad influences then he's cooked but if picks the right people to follow then he's all good. He's also just talented and strong in general. Unlike most he's not completely power hungry,,,,

I'm not sure if there's anything else left to say uhhhuhhhhh.. My brain is fried.

yall...forget about shualt...rantaro and valt had always been each other's ride or die, they're the standard male friendship in the series, especially rantaro because he always stuck by valt's side when everyone else was too busy being up their own asses to achieve victory and getting possessed at that, like genuinely, he was always the one losing to other people but he never let that cloud his judgment or sow hate within him and because of that he's the one to take blading less seriously, this man has an actual outside life when he's just reading comics and shit. He's literally just a normal teenage boy and his main role has always been support to the protagonist, basically valt's right-hand man which he does really well, he was always the one to defend valt from other people, they have this i can insult him however i want, you however. sure it might come off as babying valt but only because the people who are providing valt with advices were the ones who had been a major asshole to them first (wakiya) and he thinks that wakiya genuinely has nothing good to say about valt.

also what i love about his character is that any time he is willing to come to the aid of his friends and even resort to pulling punches, he got held back everytime, though, but everytime he did, it was so valid like when wakiya and shu had supposedly quit the beyclub, rantaro was so right to get mad about it because i don't know, it feels purely transactional and downright selfish, despite everything, valt and him and daina as well thought of the whole group as friends and not just a club to compete and use, like the things they went through were just nothing, practically meaningless, they built the beyclub and had friendship only for what? for them to leave? It felt like it didn't mean anything to them and it felt like they were only using valt and the beyclub and nothing else, it was purely professional which is crazy because first they didn't have to do all that, they could have went we're going to practice separately for a while, second their bond might've started with beyblade but they all got together when it wasn't like when they all had a day-off, third they're just kids. In rantaro's eyes, it's not that serious.

i also think it's worth noting that he's the second member of the club, the first one valt came to and they had been desperately working hard to gain new members and when they did, they're all leavin just now, it's just really irritating. Rantaro has always been Valt's voice and anger when he's just going through it and he's been with valt through everything, he saw valt progress every time, he was there when valt fell short and continued to rise. And it was just the two of them before, so it makes it all the more profound and etc. Like no wonder, Valt would choose Rantaro in the tag-team series because Rantaro has been so prevalent in his life, always by his side and practically inseparable that when Valt thinks of someone to pair up with, he thinks of him and even if Rantaro still had troubles choosing someone to pair up with, it just meant that he had no idea how much he meant to Valt and how he thinks of his friendship with Valt to be just purely...that, it didn't have to be serious or anything, it's just what friends do, that's just how his mind works.

The Return of The Grim Reaper and The Hounds from Hell

“Ken?! Daigo!?” Valt’s eyes widened.

“Hey Valt!” Ken smiled.

“Long time no see.” Daigo smiled back as well. 

This was a HUGE surprise.

“Y-Y-Your- your back!” Valt’s eyes watered, making a bee line towards them, pulling the duo in a great big hug. “I missed you guys so much!!”

Context: You’ve probably seen this image floating around, whether through google or in thumbnails used in videos, made by people in the Beyblade Burst anime community.

You’ve probably wondered if those images were real or not.

They’re not real, because I’m the one that made them. Way back in 2021.

I made a bunch of fake screenshots/edits for Burst for the fun of it, and I wanted to test my art skills to see if I was able to replicate the show.

Due to my frustration with the show, and how I didn’t like the direction the series was going and how it handled its characters, I’ve made some fakeshots to fill the void of having characters I wanted back return. You’ve most likely seen them, and I will be making videos about those pictures in the future.

(And before anyone says I should be mad for my art being used without credit in people’s videos being spread around- the whole point of these screenshots were for this exact reasons.

It’s crazy how far my art has reached across YouTube and I really appreciate the feedback I’ve seen from people about them! I really do appreciated it!)

Before QuadStrike came to be - and just in general, I wanted to create these fakeshots for a long time. I’ve gotten a lot better at digital drawing(and have since improved a lot in the past 4 years now) and wanted to draw my Burst ideas into reality, drawing characters from S1 returning with new outfits and everything. Hence why I drew Ken and Daigo because at the time, people really wanted them to return during Surge/Superking and just missed them a lot.

Now that QuadStrike ended, and Burst is finally done, while I’m glad the final episode was more of a proper send off for the series with all the characters getting cameos near the end, it sucks that they didn’t get any updated designs and just used their S1 attires. To be fair, that is a lot to ask, especially considering they only show up on screen for a couple of seconds but still-

Regardless, it was nice to see Ken again(and Daigo too even for a short bit), but admittedly while I do love Ken’s design, I wish they didn’t keep his old scarf. Design wise it looks great but the old scarf makes his new outfit look off and clashes with his new design. But that’s just me.

~Ken & Daigo Fakeshot Background~

Ken’s outfit is from an image I found when scrolling through google for images for Ken, and found it a really cool design that look like a proper evolution to his S1 outfit. I unfortunately don’t know who the original artist is, but simply know I’m not the one who created this wonderful design.

As for Daigo’s outfit it was all me. I wanted to create something unique for him while also retaining what made his design him. He now sports his bandanna around his neck as opposed to his head, letting his hair fall down- symbolizing his growth and wanting to be more open with others and himself, and his jacket is similar to his original one, but is also a hoodie that kinda resembles a skull.

So many people though his design looked really weird and understandable really. Maybe the context changes your mind now? Knowing that it’s because of character development reasons?? Idk lol

As for the background used here, it’s from Turbo, which I edited the background from a screenshot I used to make the fakeshot more believable and real. Idk which episode it was, I stumbled upon the screencap and thought it was perfect. Here it is, free to use.

beyblade burst quaddrive: episode one

This will not be a formal review, because I have a headache and my brain is fried from writing the final thoughts on surge post. But I watched the first episode of Quaddrive! And I liked it a lot! For the first half!

Bashara and Hanna are super cute. Free’s redesign is genuinely the best part of the show. Bel is…fine? I like his confidence. Judging by his reaction to Hanna’s quips, he’s likely used to being made fun of because of his height/Belfyre’s size. He could probably make a way to battle behind some persona, but he trusts his and Belfyre’s abilities enough to come as he is, which I appreciate. They’re definitely trying to do something different with the protagonist this time around.

I do think that Free and Valt seeing Bel battle one time and declaring him the future of blading is a little much, though. The show wants you to regard Bel in a very, very high light, but is there really a reason to? Sending s ton of kids screaming out of his house because of his sheer power seems to be proof enough to me. Not to mention his battle with Bashara, which wasn’t even close.

Then Lui entered, and everything went downhill very quickly. They tried to make his battle with Bel suspenseful, but it came off as a kind of ridiculous back-and-forth that Bel, completely insanely, came out on top of. With a Burst Finish.

Most of you already know about my feelings about matches like these, and I’m not even kidding when I say I was devastated. They couldn’t even wait a few more episodes to have a battle as momentous as this? And why is Lui suddenly a punching bag for the new characters? I genuinely can’t understand a single reason why they’d have Bel win. His strength was already proven to the audience! And having him lose against Lui could a motivator to start a journey of getting strong, kickstarting the plot! I don’t want to make too hasty of a judgment, but this was a really awful ending to the first episode for me.

LMAO Meet my ridiculously cool redesigns of Tyson, Kai, Ryuga, Gingka, and Valt! I turned them into a Panty & Stocking-inspired team, and honestly? They look ready to start some SHIT in HollyHoo.

I Genuinely Had so MUCH Fun Creating This Concept because I Imagined their Personalities just Working and Clashing together in a Cool satirical World of HollyHoo (Hollywood Los Angles) and I Just Thought the Idea was Neat Since I Enjoy the Various Generations of Beyblade and Kai, Gingka, Ryuga, Valt, and Tyson Happen to be My Favorite Characters! And Just to Clarify, I imagined them in a More Adult Context with Ryuga being a Fashionable Street Hipster who has a Nack for Gucci Fashion, Kai as a Rich Millionaire who Happens to be the Top Valedictorian at their High School, Tyson as A Carefree High School Slacker, Gingka as a Hippie Nerdy Student, and Valt as a Emo Boy LOL! Hello all two of you who are fans of my Overblot fan-designs for Twisted Wonderland

I made a Silver

You know the drill, me talking about design inspo + lineart and alts under the cut

(Yes I hc Silver with Silver eyelashes so the eyelashes are colored on the lineart layer) ^Lineart

I had the random idea of making an alt where the blot on the face was white/silver (badumtish) because Silver’s one of the characters that use light magic instead of void magic, but that’s kinda hard to see with the skin color so Anyways I based my OB!Silver on a mixture of prince Philip’s sword, Riku from Kingdom Hearts, and the spindle that put Aurora/Sleeping Beauty to. Well. Sleep.

The sword inspiration is also why I color picked from Malleus’ Overblot for the skin color, to make Silver look more like a sword, sounds weird but yeah I did actually attempt that with the posing as well

As for the Riku from Kingdom Hearts inspiration, I meant I took inspiration from the Replica, Dark mode, and Dark coat versions Specifically

I mean. I could base it on Riku in general rather then a version but I honestly think it’d be hilarious to twist a TWST oc out of Riku so you could have them and Silver spiderman pointing at each other

(The tap-dancing rodent appears in Kingdom Hearts so yeah technically you should be allowed to make twists of Kingdom Hearts characters for your ocs or even making background NPCs detailed, I know I’m making a Twist oc that’s Twisted from Axel-)

However my initial plan was actually going to base OB!Silver off of knights (based on the sword), the spindle, and Aurora herself

I actually almost finished the lineart when Riku was knocking at my mind with a Rook style “Bonjour.” reminding me of his existence because when I was looking at the Twisted Wiki earlier to educate myself on Silver’s story

(…I’m only on book 4 okay I just know Silver was adopted by Lilia and is randomly going snork mimimi) and saw a comment mentioning Riku

I didn’t think to use Riku as inspiration until I had Silver’s hair on there-

So yeah this first idea right here

It was scrapped, the only thing that stayed as you can see is the thorns on his limbs

(If you wanna know what the colors where gonna be, it was gonna be have dull pink half dull blue)

And also the spindle wheel with thread like puppet strings, but I didn’t even draw that yet before the outfit overhaul

Speaking of that, it wasn’t really supposed to mean anything, I just thought it’d look neat, but I guess you could spin it to be a representation of Maleficents sleeping curse and the fact he just passes out a lot

oh this is gonna be so tough because my faves change every hour but let's start off with the only constant on the list!

1. shu kurenai

i found out about burst through random fanarts of him, and he's the main reason i even gave it a chance. i have this weak spot for Very Troubled white haired + red eyed characters and he fits right into that category. like hell yeah hand that albino boy over. yes i need him to be angsty. yes i will also go through the 5423085 stages of grief every time something happens to him. it's a delight seeing him on screen for any reason (even when the animators accidentally massacre him in ways that shouldn't even be possible-) and i'm a firm believer he should've been allowed to throw hands at least once. too much has happened to that boy and he's too calm about it. drop your therapy routine king

2. fubuki sumie

the face of this blog, my banana son, the best boy ever. he gets bonus points because he's a Certified kurenai son, but even without that he's amazing. the way he approached shu even after the red eye/spriggan fiasco. the way he never gave up on saving aiga from the corrupted resonance. and ESPECIALLY the way he kept on going back to suoh, even if every conversation attempt ended up in suoh spitting poison at him. he refuses to believe that someone can't change for the better. he knows there's more than meets the eye and he'll always take the risk to prove it. banana son you're too good for this world

3. delta zakuro

i'm insane for seven deadly sins references in media and delta (alongside diabolos) sure is the sin of gluttony. i still don't fully understand what his deal was but i enjoyed everything from his pettiness, to his insatiable hunger, to his healing arc. his design is also absolutely comical and that makes him being an edgelord even better. he sends me back to simpler times of being cringe, free and drawing creepypastas on school notebooks

4. wakiya komurasaki

misunderstood DIVA. tsun ass loves his friends so much and it shows, no matter how hard he tries to hide it. he really risked his life for toko and nika in s1, then risked his life again to try and rescue shu in s2 (plus investing insane amounts of money into that whole operation), he paused a whole tournament for valt during s7. nobody else does it like him! it makes me sad they kinda watered him down to just a comic relief character in later seasons. he has depth, he's actually skilled at beyblade (throwback to him beating drum, aiga and ranjiro in a 1v3, like hello???) and the last thing he deserved was bell's pranks tbh FKSKFK

5. aiga akaba

MY CRASHOUT KING YOU WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS. i really didn't like him at first but thankfully i grew a braincell by the end of his season and now he's in my all-time favorites. i jokingly call him delulu like a lot but he's exactly who he thinks he is. you'd think that maybe each main character would get to be a world champion at some point. absolutely not, aiga is taking that title to the grave. i genuinely respect the dedication. i even found myself taking notes of things he said during quadstrike of all seasons. he was just casually dropping hard truths for no reason. cheers man, i'll drink to that-

6. hikaru asahi

such a pompous boy! as an eldest sibling i feel him deeply. even though he's just a year older than hyuga (ignoring the fact i genuinely thought they were twins before watching surge-), everything he experiences tends to stick Hard to him, especially in the manga. his battle with lain traumatized him so hard if it weren't for hyuga he would've abandoned beyblade and never looked back 😭 overall i love his dynamic with his brother, love how serious he is about the being a hero thing and the silly poses he does. he's living the 12 y.o. experience to its fullest!

7. bell daikokuten

i did Not expect to get as attached as i did to bell. but i did. and now we're here! dark prince they could never make me hate you honestly. i think i enjoyed his arc in the manga slightly more than the one in the anime. either way we get to see that he's not the villain neither him nor rashad try to paint him as. he loves making things, he always plays fair, he obviously enjoys having company/friends and lets pretty much anyone stay at his house. he's just silly and loves theatrics! and with the flashback scene we got from jiji during quaddrive it leads me to believe bell's previously isolated lifestyle might've had him in some sort of depression episode before the finished making belial. i will go INSANE.

(also shout-out to him for changing my outlook on failing something. "i didn't lose, i was just preparing for victory" is a mantra i genuinely believe in)

8. daina kurogami

honestly really similarly to delta, his levels of edge have captivated me. your bey is called DEATHSCYTHER?? it doesn't get cooler than this honestly. love a short king going for a threatening persona. other than that, i really enjoyed his character throughout the two (2) seasons they decided to make him appear in (a whole crime if you ask me, he deserved a comeback in surge or at LEAST quadstrike). i love how they showed through him that putting too much pressure on yourself can lead to you doing stupid things (such as him cheating during a match). that's very much real but as long as you own up to things and learn for the better everything will work out in the end. thank you daina

9. free de la hoya

i still don't understand how they managed to make a character so unapologetically neurodivergent. and that's not even a complaint i absolutely LOVE the way free is. literally everything about him. he's an icon, he's a legend and he is the moment 🧘 i keep thinking about how he kept bringing up the fact that hyuga fell asleep during the meditation session in surge. if you make free feel disrespected, even by accident, he's absolutely not letting that go and i support him in that endeavor

10. sisco karlisle

all i'm gonna say about him is that he's to me now what kyoya was to my 8 year old self back during the mfb era. both of them are like the cool upperclassmen you see at school and think "i want to be just like them frfr"

Day Seven: Purple

Simon thinks about dyeing his hair. Other people have feelings about it. (No warnings, NR, 1.9k)

“If you did something to alter your physical appearance, what would it be?” Maddie read from the card and wrinkled her nose. “What kind of question is that?” Felice scoffed and slid her facemask around.

“I could see myself getting my breasts done,” Stella said. The girls all turned towards her. “What? You’re saying you wouldn’t, even after having kids? You’re all liars.” Simon shifted around. He was happy the girls started including him in their Manor House nights, but that didn’t mean he always felt like one of them.

“What about you two?” Felice asked, looking at Simon and Sara. They looked at each other. Sara shrugged.

“I don’t know, maybe… get my bellybutton pierced?” She started giggling, and the rest of the girls balked and laughed.

“Always full of surprises, this one,” Maddie said. She nearly turned to the next card before Fredrika cut in.

“What about you, Simon?” He thought for a moment. Simon never had any issue with his physical appearance, and Wille didn’t seem to have any issues with it either. (If Simon was being honest, the whole dating the Crown Prince of Sweden thing did boost his self esteem, at least physically, after all the hate and controversy died down.) He thought back to when he was younger, and remembered how he’d always wanted hair like his favorite anime characters. Specifically Valt Aoi from Beyblade. He grinned.

“Maybe I’d dye my hair.”

At the admission, the girls started chattering excitedly, and Maddie’s eyes widened.

“Oh, Simon, you just made a huge mistake,” Felice chuckled. “You do know Maddie has an entire hair salon in our bathroom.”

“We could do it right now,” Maddie said. “Dead serious. I have bleach and everything.” He looked around, all the girls staring raptly at him.

“I don’t know, I’d have to think about it.” It would most likely not look like Valt Aoi’s hair, and even if it did, Simon seriously questioned if a not ten-year-old version of himself would like it at all. The girls let out disappointed noises. Simon realized that this was a very exciting, significant event to this group and smiled.

Still, he had a surge of excitement verging on butterflies when he thought about the change. It might be nice to do something different, something that represented change in a positive way. A change he chose for himself.

“How was girls night?” Wille asked. He would have attended, but rowing practice kept him late as usual. Simon was curled into his side, being forced together as usual by the Hillerska twin bed.

“Good. Maddie offered to dye my hair.” Wille stilled next to him, and Simon could hear his breath hitch. “What?” He asked, laughing.

“Nothing,” Wille said, stretching his fingers further into Simon’s curls.

“I’m probably not going to do it. It might look weird with my curls.” Wille stopped his movements again. Simon could practically hear him thinking.

“You, or your hair, could never look weird,” he asserted. Then, more quietly, he asked, “but what color?”

Simon giggled. “You’re hung up on this, huh? I dunno. Purple, maybe?” Valt Aoi’s hair was blue, but purple was close enough, and it was his favorite color after all.

“Although I’m pretty sure they’d have to bleach my whole head, which could look bad when it fades, and it might ruin my curls.” Wille hummed disapprovingly.

“But Felice put those streaks in her hair last summer, remember, right? And her hair is curly like yours.” Wille had a funny selective memory, sometimes.

“Yeah, she got highlights. That’s different.” An idea started slowly forming in Simon’s head nonetheless.

Wille sat up, staring down at Simon in the moonlight, and coiling his finger between a stray curl on his forehead. “I think you’d look amazing, curls, bald, or otherwise,” Wille said earnestly, kissing the top of Simon’s head. Simon smiled, butterflies flooding his stomach.

“Just kiss me already, you weirdo,” he breathed, pulling Wille down into him.

Wille had a bit of a problem. Simon was joking, is what he reminded himself. This wasn’t a serious consideration. Besides, the Hillerska dress code did prohibit colored hair, although the enforcement was questionable. The couple times he’d asked Simon about it, he’d made fun of Wille, calling him obsessed and brushing it off. It only made it worse.

The thing, though, was that Wille started to think about it a little too much. One afternoon he looked up pictures of dyed curly hair. Some were a bit extreme for Simon - he knew that even he could dress more flashy than his boyfriend sometimes - but some of them were more subtle. Once or twice, Wille had to shut off his laptop or phone because he was a bit too excited. He didn't bring it up again, so Wille started to feel a bit creepier for thinking about it so much. Simon's hair was lovely the way it was, brown and shiny and beautiful, the curls wrapping themselves around Wille's fingers every time he scratched his scalp, or grabbed on for purchase while -

Yes, Wille was just fine with things the way they were.

Another girl’s night rolled around, and Wille was again absent. The girls sat around in a circle, Stella french braiding Fredrika’s hair and Sara sitting with her head on Felice’s lap. They were listening to Ariana Grande, or maybe it was Dua Lipa, Simon couldn’t be sure. Someone had brought out the nail polish hours ago, and Simon had been going back and forth about painting his nails.

“Simon,” Maddie suddenly said, sitting up from where she lay on the floor. “Weren’t we going to dye your hair?” All the girls looked at him, Sara’s eyes teasing.

“I said I’d think about it,” he replied shortly.

“And you had time to think about it,” Maddie deadpanned. “You know, the timing is really good. Halloween is coming up, and if we did it now people would think it was like, temporary or something.”

She had a point, Simon had to admit. He could probably pass it off at Hillerska, at least, and his Mamá would maybe forgive him if he said it was for a costume. The girls were looking at him expectantly.

“Do you have… purple?” He asked haltingly.

“YES! I told you so,” Felice said to Sara, shaking her shoulders and laughing. Stella begrudgingly reached into her pockets and threw a few bills at Fredrika.

“What is this, you guys had some kind of bet?” Simon asked.

“Hey, don’t look at us. Wille kept bugging Maddie about it, so we figured it was only a matter of time.” Felice shrugged. At the insinuation, Simon’s cheeks turned apple red. Wille had hardly mentioned it since that one night in their room. To be honest, Simon himself had forgotten about it after a few weeks.

“Okay, but here’s the thing.” He spoke over a chorus of whooping, the girls gathering their things to crowd into the bathroom already. “I don’t want it to look all purple, or even half of the way purple.” Maddie was the only one listening at this point.

“You mean highlights?” She asked. Simon nodded, going to unlock his phone to look up some pictures. “Easy. I did them for Felice last summer. And they’ll grow out fast, in case you don’t like it,” she reassured.

They settled on a medium toned color, not too warm or too cool, not too light or too dark. His hair had gotten longer lately, a result of being in boarding school and not getting carted off to the hairdresser by Linda every month, and Maddie reassured him she wouldn’t touch his roots with the bleach or the dye. It seemed like a long and quite boring process, but the girls surrounded him with rapt attention, asking Maddie questions the whole time.

Simon got a bit nervous when they washed the bleach out. His hair looked odd, the dark-light contrast like a tortoiseshell cat or skunk stripes. It lit him up with nervous excitement. Maddie mixed the dye together with what she called developer, and it let out the foulest smell. The whole process was a lot more involved than Simon initially realized. Simon wasn’t sure he would’ve agreed if he’d known what he was in for.

The girls started going to bed one by one, and eventually it was just Maddie and Sara left. Sara kept taking pictures of him, even when he held up his hands and moved to take her phone. Maddie stopped him every time, telling him to stay still or he’d end up with a purple nose.

After he’d rinsed his hair, crunched in some of Felice’s product, and had his hair blowdried, Simon stared at himself in the mirror. The color was more subtle than the picture in his head, but in quite a good way. In lower light, you could hardly tell it wasn’t brown. His curls were also in tact, which Simon was grateful for.

Butterflies lit up his stomach in anticipation. The change was exciting for many reasons, but Simon would be lying if Wille's reaction wasn’t one of the main ones. Now Simon knew that Wille had gone out of his way and asked Maddie about it - surely that meant he wasn’t opposed to it?

Simon turned his head from side to side. It gave him an edgier look, somehow changing the simple tee and flannel he was wearing into something that looked like a fashion statement. He looked like he could be in an indie band. Maybe he should’ve painted his nails black, after all.

He said goodbye to Maddie and made his way towards Forest Ridge. Wille was asleep by the time he got back to their room, and Simon was only slightly disappointed. He slipped out to brush his teeth, and Alexander walked in behind him.

“Hey,” he greeted, then immediately whipped his head back up. “Woah! Your hair!” Simon smiled to himself, turning around.

“What do you think?” He asked. Alexander was nice, and probably honest, Simon thought.

“It’s sick, man. It suits you.” Alexander nodded, heading towards the shower.

Simon smiled to himself. He was starting to think so, too.

Simon woke up to a tickling on his forehead. He blinked his blurry eyes open. Moonlight was pouring into the window, meaning it was much too early for him to be up. When the room came into focus, Simon was looking right at Wille, or rather Wille was looking right at him. The look in his eyes said everything. “You did it,” he breathed, looking raptly at Simon.

“Mm. Too early,” Simon groaned, squinting his eyes shut. Wille was still staring, though, moving his fingers up and through Simon’s hair.

“It looks… different.”

Simon opened one eye. “Seriously? You wake me up, and that’s all you have to say?”

“Good different. Like, really good,” Wille said, looking up at Simon’s hair and down at his face again. “It suits you.”

“That’s what Alexander said,” Simon replied.

“So Alexander saw it already?” Wille asked, trying not to sound hurt.

“Yeah, when I went to brush my teeth. What is with you?” Simon laughed.

Wille didn’t respond at first, just letting his hands fold through Simon’s hair. “Do you like it?” He finally asked.

“I think so, but I dunno. I’ll have to see it in the sun,” Simon admitted, some of his nervousness peeking through.

“I can’t imagine it looking better than this,” Wille exhaled, his skin bluish-purple with the colors of the moonlight. He leaned down and kissed away all of Simon’s comebacks. They fell back asleep tangled together, Wille’s fingers still tangled in Simon’s hair.

In the morning sun, Simon decided that he liked it. It really suited him.
