"It's official. We can't hang out with my friends again," Bowen gave a disappointed shake of the head as he shut the door to his room. Barely escaping his housemates. "They like you more than they like you and I can't have that."

Esmeralda kept her eyes on him as he laughed. She liked it, wanted to hear it again. A light snort came from the brunette, “someone more like.” What was he trying to forget then? Had he done something bad? Gotten fired from his job or had his pet maybe died? So many possibilities. Watching him take a sip of his drink for then to approve the taste made her smile. “Exactly.” Leaning her hip against the counter, she cocked her head just a little bit as he repeated her name back to her. “Thank you. I’ve been told I was obsessed with the girl in Hunchback of Notre Dame when I was younger as she share the same name,” she chuckled softly. Why she had felt the need to share that fact with him she didn’t know. Blaming the alcohol was the easiest option by far. The smile was wiped off of her face as the male made the honest comment about not having fun. Was that down to the thing he wanted to forget? Her brain searched for something to do, something to say, that could try and make him feel better. The place wasn’t big but she had seen a few closed doors earlier. “Come on.” Taking his hand in hers she went to locate one of the rooms and hoped that it was free. On her forth attempt she found an empty bedroom after finding both a broom closet, a bathroom and an very occupied room. Pulling the male inside, she closed the door behind them and locked the door. “What’s going on? Do I need to kick someone in their leg?”
At her answer his brow rose. It looked like they had a common cause in their goal for the night. “Whoever they are, I hate them already. Solidarity.” He tilted his drink towards her before taking a gulp. Her little confession was cute and drew out genuine amusement for him. The random little fact gave him a picture of her as a kid. Sure he came over to try and hit on her but he liked the way the conversation began to be more natural instead of him being stuck in his head. “Oh shit. She was so hot. Her in that red dress… Damn. Could have been my sexual awakening the day I saw that,” he revealed with a smile, more just joking to see more of her smile. “You’re hot too, so must be in the name. Your parents knew what they were doing.” Bowen felt foolish for letting his answer out on how he was and was caught off guard when she pulled him upstairs. The little at of kindness by actually wanting to hear what was going on when she didn’t even know him. “Actually if you could that would be awesome. Kinda can’t do that myself so this works well,” he pointed at her, laughing a little. “Nah, just going through a really shitty break up. And my friends mean well by bringing me here, but turns out sitting by yourself while your friends go make-out with the girls they are seeing… Not as fun as you may think it is.”

Bowen was an active guy. The kind that was out running before his alarm even went off. He found a way to squeeze productivity out of every day. A day in bed was a rarity even when sick. And yet the last 48 hours he found himself completely in his own heaven, hiding away in his apartment with Esme. The days spent either wrapped up in his bed or on the couch. Barely able to keep his hands off her. He was utterly and completely enthralled by her. His attachment to her so unlike him. Yet, there he was being the one reaching for her, pulling her back into his bed. "No," he began to whine. "You can't leave. Stay with me."

Bowen had seen her every night this week. From the moment he could get off work until they barely could stay away any longer, Esme had taken up all his fee time. He was infatuated with her. The late nights filled with conversation to learn everything he could about her. He had never been so consumed so easily. Eager just to see her again. This time planning something a little more than the take out and bar nights. “I got a surprise for you,” he smiled pulling her hand as they walked past his apartment door to go to the stairs.

"I didn't say I wouldn't allow bathroom breaks. I'm not inhumane. Even if keeping you all to myself is very much all I want," he continued the joke but his mood grew much more somber than hers as he worked through something he just couldn't let go of. "If you mean that and I mean that... If we know what we are to each other and what this is... What we know it's going to be then..." His mind was scattered and maybe that was from being nervous. Maybe it was the fact that he wasn't a romantic guy so some eloquent speech wasn't in his wheelhouse. Or it could have been that Bowen was not a sporadic kind of guy. He was the type to overthink. Make careful decisions. Write out a pros and cons list over the smallest of things. Yet, as he looked at Esmeralda none of that mattered, and so the crazy request left his lips quietly but with complete confidence. "Then marry me."
Esmeralda couldn't contain her laughter. The fact that he was being this light about it, knowing it was all just a joke, made her like him that much more. She had never really seen him jealous, not that she had given him a reason to be. He knew, or at least she hoped he did, that she was all about him. "But where am I going to pee? Peeing in a bottle is a little harder for me that I think it is for you." Not that she really had any idea just how hard it was for him, or any guy, to pee in a bottle. As Bowen broke the kiss, Esmeralda took the opportunity to take in his face. His gorgeous eyes, his sexy smile and his sharp jawline. It was so distracting that she almost missed his question. "Hm?" Her gaze locked with his as she tried to think back to what he had just said. "Yeah, I do." Fingers continued to play with his hair, loving how soft it was. "Like you said, I now have an army so if you hurt me you'll be dead."

This was crazy. Yet, he never felt like he was making such a sane decision in his life in securing a future with her. "If that is what you wanted," he nodded. "I can get us tickets." Bowen hardly had money to spare, being a grad student, but he knew he could pull from his savings. He rarely ever touched it and it would be enough to at least start them out right. She was all he needed as far as he was concerned. His smile grew at her explanation. His heart rate picking up at the thought of seeing her dressed in white. "Yeah," he nodded. "Next week then. What do you say?"
The smile lit up his whole face. It was the best thing she had ever seen. His words causing her to giggle against his lips. "Depends, are we running off to vegas?" She doubted there was enough time and money for a big fancy wedding yet she knew she didn't need all of that. She just needed Bowen by her side. A white dress was something she wanted, though, if she was going to get married. With. her arms around his neck, Esmeralda played with the hair at the back of his head. "I'd marry you tomorrow. I'd like to say today, but I am a girl so a dress needs to be prepared and so does the lingerie for the wedding night." A light smirk spread across her lips. "You're alright with that, right?"

It was like once he had it all out there and those few seconds of silence fell, he realized how she may think how insane he was. They had been on the same page since the first conversation they shared, but maybe this went too far. Maybe Bowen, who was always reasonable and cautious had chosen the wrong time to put himself out there. It was amazing what little time it took for the self-doubt to start making its way through, but then she kissed him. She kissed him and his mind went quiet and that surety he felt when proposing came rushing back in. His heart now racing from her words. Assurance that what they had was the realest thing that he had ever felt in his life. "Yeah?" He smiled big, the joy and love he felt for her radiating from every ounce of him. Bowen kissed her again. "How soon you want to do it?"
Her smile faded slightly but there was still a trace of it on her face. Though it was turning rather nervous as he kept on talking. He talked about the now, rather than the future. She couldn't quite believe it. Yet she stayed silent so he was able to empty his chest without having her interrupting. He deserved it for belting out his feelings the way he was. Esmeraldas smile vanished completely but her attention was on him. Listening to every word, swallowing them whole. Her heart was speeding in her chest, beating so hard and fast she was sure he was able to both hear and feel it. "You want me to.." For some reason she couldn't find it in herself to complete the sentence. The words sounding too bizarre leaving her lips. Still, her head was nodding as she leaned in to kiss him. "Make me your wife, baby. Now and forever."

They were in deep. In a way that didn't make sense with the time passed. The fact that they already said 'I love you' would have already seemed crazy to some. Talking about marriage? He knew how it sounded so he understood why her assumption about the future. "I'm not talking about someday. I'm talking about now." He could have used her response to bow out the idea without making a complete fool of himself but the more he sat on the thought the more sure he was about it. "I don't want to wait for something that I know is supposed to be, and that is you, Es. You're it for me and sitting around waiting to say that for the socially acceptable time to pass doesn't feel right," he tried to explain his feelings, something he usually struggled with. "I don't want to date you. I want to marry you. I am so sure about this. About us," he cupped her face with one of his hands. Bowen didn't know where this confidence was coming from but for once in his life he didn't second guess it. "I love you in a way that not being completely and fully yours feels like a lie. I don't want to feel that so marry me. Vegas, a courthouse, church... I don't care. Marry me now," he repeated the request earnestly. "Be my wife now."
Esmeralda continued to laugh at the conversation they were having. If she was ever going to jail, she wanted Bowen to be her jailkeeper, that was for sure. Her laughter turned quiet and her smile turned into a more questionable one as she saw the serious look on his face. She would even go so far as saying he was looking nervous. Seeing Bowen nervous was still something she had not done too often. He was always smiles and laughter, hugs and kisses. She'd never seen him angry, really angry, and hardly ever seen him nervous. Only ever when he had arranged that rooftop date and wanted to know her reaction. This seemed different, though. Pupils grew and lips formed a small 'o' when she understood the nerves. For a second she didn't know if he was serious or if he was just asking if she ever would. "Of course I'll marry you someday," she assured him with a smile. "You don't have to ask me that. I thought it was kind of obvious that I'm obsessed with you." A soft chuckle left her lips.

The words though meant playfully rang in his ears but he just smiled as she went on with her jokes. "Alright well, it's official. You are never allowed out of my room then. I am locking you in here because they are never getting to see you in anything less than a full on jumpsuit now," he teased. He was hardly the jealous type and with Esme he didn't feel like he needed to be anyway when the two were clearly only for each other. He melted into her kiss his desire for her always coming on instantly. Yet, he couldn't shake some of her words from his mind. "I, um," he interrupted their kiss, pulling back enough to really look at her. "Till death... Do you really mean that?" Maybe he was making an idiot of himself asking so seriously when the words were said in a teasing way but there was something in his head he couldn't dismiss.
Giggling against his lips, she murmured, "till death do us part." Fingers played with the hair at the back of his neck, legs tightly around him as he sat down. "Of course." Nodding, she brushed her lips over his. "I promised Tom and the others a fashion show of my underwear.." A grin spread across her lips even as she said it. "And you know how eager I am to please." Her lips met his once more, fingers tugging gently at his hair.

"You and me," he repeated back with a tone that spoke to how much he agreed with that sentiment. Bowen's arms moved around her waist, pulling her further onto him. He had never felt more alive than he had in his time with her. He never would have described his life as an unhappy, but he didn't realize that he had just settled for always being content and nothing more. With Esme he had a taste of the more and he didn't want it to end. She loved him and there wasn't anything he would do to risk it. For as nervous as he was to confess loving her the thought that now occupied his mind was much crazier and yet left him with a calmness that was hardly like him when change was put in to question. He simply just looked at her at first. The silent debate with whether or not he should let it out. But if he felt such a peace with it then why not? "Let's get married." He made the suggestion as if it was as simple as going bowling for the night.
Esmeralda still had a smile on her face as Bowen seemed to be in disbelief of her words. And she could understand him as they had not known each other for more than a few weeks. Yet they had spent all of their free-time together and she felt like she knew him pretty well. "Insane is a very harsh word," she spoke softly. "You might be a little out of your mind, " she shrugged lightly, now letting her own fingers play with his. His laughter making her smile stay put. "But so am I. So let's be out of our minds together." She couldn't help but laugh as she said the words. Bringing her arms around his neck, she hugged him close. He stilled smelled like comfort and sleep and it was a struggle not to fall back under the duvet with him. But she had plans she knew it would be too late to cancel. Still, she didn't make any effort to move off of him. "It's you and me against the world. As fucking cliché as that is to say."

Bowen never meant to make things serious between them. He was a guy of reason and while a one night stand after a break up made sense, being in love with a girl who he didn't know at the beginning of the month was so past logic. He had only said I love you to his parents and his first girlfriend. Not even because he loved her but because she had said it and eager to avoid confrontation and hurting her, he said it back. This was the first time he said it and meant it. That was how he knew that he wasn't just wrapped up in a fantasy with her. It couldn't feel like this and just be a period of time to move on. But that didn't stop the doubt in his head that maybe this wasn't the same for her. That maybe he was delusional. She had given no indication it was different but the insecurities had a way of enwrapping his thoughts. That was how he missed the smile at first. Still looking down until she guided his head up, barely able to kiss her back as he caught her words. "Really?" He questioned it like he wanted to be sure he heard her right. "I thought that maybe you'd think I was completely insane right now," he laughed.
Esmeralda couldn't help but giggle as Bowen continued to talk about just how proud her parents would be to learn she was fucking someone. "I'm sure it is." They just didn't want to think about it. Like, when her older brother had announced that he and his girlfriend was having a baby, her parents thought of grandkids. Esmé had grimaced thinking about the fact that her brother had fucked someone to make it happen.
A little surprised as he suddenly sat up straighter, Esme followed the lead and moved off of him before sitting crosslegged beside him. Had she pushed him too far regarding her parents? Had she been to forward saying she liked him? What if he only saw them as a casual thing? She didn't he did, considering some of his actions like the date on the rooftop, but she could also be completely blind to everything. With her heart racing due to her own overthinking, she let out a sigh of relief as he assured her that he saw them going somewhere. It was a confirmation that she wasn't the only one who wanted something more from their relationship. Letting him play with her fingers, she kept her eyes on him, head slightly tilted. A light smile spreading across her lips at his mumbled truth, though clearly he was too shy or nervous to look at her when he told her. Using her free hand to cup the side of his face, Esmé lifted his head slightly so she was able to kiss him. "That's a fucking relief cause I love you, too."

Bowen began to nod at her sarcastic agreement as if he had made a reasonable point on the subject. He held back a smile that was begging to form as he further illustrated what he said. “More than a high-five. Bet we’d have our own secret handshake. After all, isn’t that what every parent wants for their daughter? To be with a guy who makes them happy, including happy in bed?” He stole another quick kiss, the contact almost like this constant need for them both. A roll of the eye came at her dramatics to his question but he smiled into every kiss Esme graced him with. He knew her questions were teasing but as the conversation became genuine again, he sat up slightly, shoulder blades hitting the wall. “If you want me to meet them then I’ll meet them. Because I do, Esme… See this going somewhere.” His tone was more serious as his hand grabbed one of her. Fingers playing with hers as a distraction from his nerves. As talking about feelings was not his strong suit. “I, um… I think I love you,” he mumbled the words, eyes fixated on their hands.
Esmeralda rested her chin on his chest, light smile on her lips as eyes looked at him. A soft hum leaving her as she felt his finger tracing her skin. "Oh, totally," she agreed. "I think they would probably let me stay in bed with you forever and ever after learning such a fact." Her words followed by a soft chuckle before she lifted her head ever so slightly and pressed her lips against his own. "My dad would probably give an high-five too." Or a smack against the back of his head for putting such images inside his head. Esmé was the baby of the family after all, and would be protected against anyone who her dad didn't approve of. "Why? Are you just using me for sex?" The smile was still on her lips as she pressed another kiss to his lips. "Can you not see this going anywhere?" Another kiss. "Are you just going to hurt me?" She was teasing, trying to make his question lighter. "No, in all seriousness.. I like you. I think that's quite clear. And I'd like to show you off." She gave a small shrug. "But if you don't want to, I won't push it."

His smile grew as she jumped on him, and Bowen's hands fell to under her ass to secure her as he held her. Esme brought out a side to him that he didn't know he had. Her brightness bringing out a care free attitude that was so unlike him. "I'm happy every single time I'm with you," he smiled into the kiss. It was cheesy but a true sentiment. "Ooo that's my girl. So loyal," he laughed lightly. Taking a few steps back until he felt his mattress against his leg and he sat on the edge of the bed, holding her tight. "Please tell me you are staying the night."
Esmeralda tipped her head back as his words caused her to laugh. She was happy that his friends liked her. It was rather important as they were in this quite deep. It would have been a shame if he had to choose between her and them. Straightening, the brunette kissed him back as his lips landed on hers. "I love seeing you happy." Arms slid up his chest before wrapping around his neck. With a little jump she then wrapped her legs around his waist. "I'd also haunt them from the grave if they ever did you dirty," she muttered before kissing him again.

His hands fell to her hips. Their touch so natural it felt like they just fit. The level of comfort reaching one that didn't seem possible for only the weeks that passed since they met. "Baby, it hurts me to say it but those guys out there would not just turn me in, but get revenge on your behalf. You have an army out there ready to serve," Bowen laughed as he leaned down to kiss her. "I love it though you know. Seeing how you fit in my life."
Esmeralda turned towards him as the door closed with a soft click. A grin spread across her face, a soft chuckle leaving her lips. "At least they like me, though." Her hands ran up his chest, gaze locked with his. "Besides, I don't really think that is true, anyway. They would definitely hide my body and not tell the cops if it ever came to it."

A content lazy smile formed when she let him pull her back in. Even if this only meant he had won a few more minutes with her, he would take it. He already hated the feeling of his bed without her in it. The way these last couple of days felt was like he had his person that he spent years with to be this comfortable. The way they were, it seemed impossible that just a few weeks ago they never knew the other existed. His arm was secured around her now that she was settled back in. Fingers mindlessly tracing up and down a small portion of her back. “I feel like if you just explained to them that I am not only handsome, but I am responsible for multiple orgasms they’d completely understand.” There was a sheepish smile to the words. His skin warmed to the small kiss. “Meeting the parents…” he contemplated. “It’s not too soon?”
The fact that she and Bowen had not left his apartment for the past two days was kind of surprising. She was one who liked to just go out to explore on her days off and from what she had learned about the male, he was someone who didn't like sitting still. Yet they had been together for the past two days, never been apart more than a few minutes if one of them needed the bathroom. It had been lovely, of course, but now it was hard to leave. And Bowen was making it harder. Falling back onto the bed, a soft giggle left her lips as she looked over at him. God, he looked good when he was sleepy. "Don't tempt me," she muttered, reaching over to move of his hair away from his eyes. "You know there's nothing more I could ever want. But I also don't want to be late for meeting my parents. Don't think they'd appreciate me ringing to tell them I can't come either, cause I'm in bed with a handsome man." She was smiling at him as she snuggled herself up to him, pressing a kiss to his jawbone. "You could always change your mind and come with me?"
