It was the ultimate kick in the teeth. Sitting at a table for two at a nice restaurant, knowing that people could see her sitting alone and very obviously, not deliberately. Looking at the empty chair opposite her as she tore the crust off of one of the bits of bread she had on her plate, Kira simply sighed. It wasn't like she had been looking forward to the date so much that she was disappointed, she was just annoyed. She'd even shaved her legs for this and he couldn't even be bothered to text to her to say that he wouldn't be able to make it.
Finishing her glass of wine and the piece of bread that no longer had a crust, Kira signalled for the check. At least this way, she could get a pizza on her way home and be in her bed within thirty minutes. Unless she took the pizza via Emil's so they could catch up on the Real Housewives latest series. Standing, Kira grabbed her jacket off of the back of her chair and as she straightened up to put it on, she saw him.
She watched in shock as he strode across the restaurant to her and suddenly the butterflies that weren't in her stomach when she got ready for the date, were flapping about mercilessly. "You came.."

Location: The waterfront Starter for: @levibecker
She hadn't wanted to go to the festival really but with her sister's tough love on the phone, she hadn't felt like she had much of a choice. It had been a good day, she'd seen more of the town than she realised she could and she felt the sense of community. But even with all of the good on display that day, she still felt incredibly overwhelmed. It wasn't home and currently, the town held too much of her heartbreak and the negativity in her life.
The festival had spilled out onto the beach by the boardwalk but it was only a couple of minutes walk down the sand to find a spot that was quieter than the rest of town. She could smile and pretend again, but she just needed a few minutes where she could just look at the sea and relax her mind.
She almost jumped as she spotted someone else in the spot she had been trying to find and she instantly pulled up to stop walking. "Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude, I was just looking for a quiet spot." As she looked at him, a little flash of recognition ran through her brain. "You work at the hotel, right? Sorry, am I on like a private space or something? Should I go back up the beach?"

Location: Masquerade Gala, Paradise Point Starter for: @levibecker
"You grab some drinks, I'll grab dessert. Meet me by the ocean wall." Fuelled by the shots that had gone down far too easily and the champagne that seemed to be freely passed around the gala, Cali tapped her fist against her raffle date's before walking over to the dessert table, trying to look as subtle as possible. Not an easy task considering her dress was hot pink. Glancing over the desserts on offer instantly made her mouth water and as soon as she spotted the strawberry cheesecake, Cali knew immediately she'd have to find a way to swipe it for her date. Waiting until the serving assistant was distracted, Cali grabbed two spoons and the plate with the cheesecake, turning quickly and walking to the doors as quickly as her heels would allow.
Finding her way out to the back of the property, Cali made her way over to the familiar figure, placing the cheesecake down on the wall between them. "Just know that if anyone comes looking for this, we may need to push it over the wall."

Where: Pier and Boardwalk Who: @levibecker
Mason wanted nothing more than to get out in the fresh air with Ollie as much as he could before the surgery he was going to have to go through and then recover from because he knew he wasn't going to be able to be the father he had always tried to be once he had the surgery for at least a little bit. The two of them had spent the day at the boardwalk, playing some of the games and enjoying the sea air and the sound of the waves crashing. He turned to face the person standing next to him while Ollie ate his ice cream next to him. "It's crazy to think about how chaotic this place was not that long ago..."

"This might not be the nicest thing to tell you, but yes. I can't do tastings on my own anymore as I genuinely can't stop until I have to roll myself out of here. If you start getting the ice cream overdose pains, please let me know." Chuckling softly, Kira grabbed a spoon and dug out a bit of the flavour for herself. Popping the spoon into her mouth, she nodded as the flavour of the mango exploded in her mouth. "Maybe too much mango? What do you think?" She noted down her observation before tossing the wooden spoon into the bin by their feet. "Oh! How as your raffle date? You had one, right?" Reaching for another spoon, Kira rested it on her lap as she made a couple more notes about their first flavour. "Mine ended up being really nice. The guy I was with was super sweet."
Reaching for the next tub of ice cream, Kira handed Levi a fresh spoon. "As fall is coming up, we're going to lean into with caramel apple. I have made this before but it's an updated recipe so you are officially the first person to ever try this one."
“Well, for what it’s worth, I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t pointed it out to me.” Levi assured. “And regardless, you looked beautiful.” No surprise. He’d been so lucky that Kira had a significant presence in his life now, having played a major part in his adjustment to his whirlwind move to the town. It’d been her after all that motivated him to keep attending their grief group on a more regular, and not sporadic basis. “Don’t mention it.” And Levi meant his words in a way he certainly couldn’t say for many others. Helping out with a task at her shop was the least he could do.
“You realize how dangerous this is?” He teased with a glint in his eye, proceeding to grab one of the large wooden spoons from the pot she slid over on the counter. “‘Cause you know I definitely am going to try to test them all.” Kira’s ‘warning’ may or may not be heeded. “I can already say, how it looks, check, how it smells, also check..” Levi nodded with certainty. “Wow. Ok. Mango and white chocolate right off the bat. Trying to kill me already.” He stuck the utensil into the ice cream, hastily digging a spoonful out. “— Honestly? Nope.” Levi shook his head, having no interest in reliving what transpired that evening. Aside from the opportunity that allowed him to catch up with Cali. “I think the party left when you did.”

something something, arin is desperately trying to run back to his past, even if it meant to give up the present..while sora is trying so hard to run away from her past, trying to hold on to the present, but her past still catches up to her no matter what..something something...

arin would give up the present, as he denied that the ninja are his family when his mother asked him so, if it meant for him to run back to her and his father.

this whole season alludes to motion. everyone, everything is moving. but here in arin's fear, he's trying so hard to do that, to move and run back to his parents, to his past, but he couldn't, stuck in the same place as he was. which also fits in his whole arc of not progressing in his spinjitzu, still being in the same place as he was before. he didn't improve, he couldn't move, he's still, and stuck at where he started, he has no motion, and is constantly being reminded of that whether intentionally or unintentionally (unintentionally: lloyd and sora, intentionally: ras)
meanwhile with sora, in her fear, she was able to move. she was able to run back to her past, despite trying so hard to move on from it, to turn away from it, to stay still and never come back to it. but it still pulls her back, no matter how hard she tries
and of course, this also goes to how she's currently progressing with her powers. she's improving, she's moving forward, she isn't still, she's much more powerful than she was before, she's learning, and most importantly, she has motion, and is reminded of it everytime, whether by herself or someone else, while also being praised for it
and the way these two arcs just very clearly contrast from eachother is so interesting. arin had always wanted to be a ninja, he wants to make his parents proud, but when he got the chance, he fails time and time again. meanwhile sora did not even think she'd be involved in any ninja adventures, yet here we are. she didn't even think she'd have powers, no less improve at controlling them, she didn't think she'd have all of this but still got it
one friend had neverending hope, had a dream so big, that his imagination became reality. yet, it looked like destiny didn't agree with it, making his hope falter and his dream shatter, his self esteem dangerously lowering as he started to doubt if he was ever good enough, and he started to doubt if everyone else believed in him too
the other was never focused on hope, or a dream, she accepted the life she lived as long as it meant she won't return to her past. destiny didn't disappoint her, but it contrasted with her opinions in ways that she didn't really agree with. but in the end, she managed to resolve her past and move on from it, as she started focusing more on the present and being happier than she's ever been, even if her past pulled her back at times. they're both best friends despite all these differences, but after what happened in the s2p1 finale, will they be for long?

closed starter for @frcmbelow (jem) location: club aura's strip club
Once your entire life falls apart in your hands, it doesn't really feel like anything is off limits to you anymore. Pre breakdown Levi never would have stepped foot in a strip club, let alone be sticking money in girl's bra or panty straps, and here he was, a little more drunk than he should be for a weekday, but it's not like he had to be at school tomorrow. The realization still stung, but it hadn't been too long since he had been forced to take a break.
He wouldn't say he frequented the club, but he was around enough that he knew who he would prefer to see, and he was hoping to catch Jem tonight. She was untouchable, and beautiful, and while she normally would never give him the time of day if they passed each other on the street... well, he could pretend for a little bit.
"Hey," he grinned at her; he had been hoping to catch her before or after her performance. "You wanna get a drink before you twirl around, or are you not allowed to do that?"

She wasn't sure when things had shifted in her brain with Levi but as she looked at him, she knew the strength of the sun wasn't the only reason that her cheeks were warm. He had started as a friend, a good friend who understood her in a way that a lot of people didn't given the tragedy in their pasts, but now she just couldn't shake the butterflies from her stomach. "Oh, for sure. It says a lot about someone to be an individual when they could just join the throngs of people in cowboy hats." She couldn't but smile as she noted the smirk on his face, a melodic laugh sounding from her lips as she glanced out at the crowd before back to him. "It's much more intriguing being the only one, well, two," she gestured to her own lack of hat, "without one, right?" Glancing down at her dress, Kira had never been so glad that she had gone with the impulse buy. She might not have worn it for the attention, but she couldn't deny that it was working for her that it had resulted in this interaction. "I'll do a whiskey as well, but maybe with a coke?" As they neared the bar, Kira felt herself getting a little closer to Levi as the crowd got denser and as she brushed him, she blushed a little. "Sorry." Checking the list of drinks behind the bar, she nodded. "Whiskey and coke would be great, thank you. Are you sure you don't want me to get them?"
Kira’s question caught him red-handed once making the final check on her dress' runaway strap, unsure how long his gaze had been trained on hers. He knew one thing for certain; he’d have that awestruck look of hers seared into his mind. Just as the comment already was...signs emerging, making themselves evidently known after a long while. “Uhm..” Levi found himself blinking with a hap-hazard nod, any attempts to be smooth in the moment thrown completely out the window. Shit. “Yeah. Yeah. I’m.. I’m good.” He assured unconvincingly, both sides of his face remained on fire with a heat not akin to only the weather. And as the impressive business owner proceeded speaking again, his attention definitely hadn’t resumed from the haze of a few moments ago, unable to fully concentrate. “— So you’re saying that as a good thing, right That I’m apparently being an ‘individual’ right now?” A smirk crossed his sharp features, deviously challenging her observation regarding his chosen attire. A given that she was a flawless sight in the crowds no matter what. “I won’t. I insist.” Buying for Kira too was an opportunity he wouldn’t let pass. “No need to. I'm lucky enough that it wanted my attention.” Not an understatement in the slightest. “Probably whiskey. Tell me what you’re drinking and I’ll handle it, ok?”

Where: Marineland Who: @levibecker
Mason and Ollie had passed Marineland when they were exploring their new area and the two year old had been begging to go every since. He felt bad that his kid had to be stuck in the house so much while they settled in so he had promised they would go. He pulled into the parking lot and got out, getting Ollie out with him. He walked the youngster in and bought their tickets, smiling as Oliver got so excited to see the animals. Mason couldn't help but smile as Ollie looked around and pushed past someone to get to one of the animals. "Ollie! Hey...I'm so sorry, he's just excited."

It hadn't been the best evening she'd ever had, but that wasn't altogether a surprise. Kira had never loved these things, she went as she felt she should and to spend time with her friends, but maybe it was time to start doing something for her, for a change. Looking up at Levi as he stood, Kira smiled as she reached for his arm, standing with a small groan at the ache in the balls of her feet from the heels that couldn't be more different to her everyday shoe. Linking her arm through his, she nodded as they took a few steps towards the group, spotting a couple of drunk girls having the time of their life. "You know, I think I'm actually going to head home." Tucking her purse under her arm, she turned to face Levi before pressing a kiss against his cheek. "Thank you for this, really, but I think my therapist would be annoyed if I don't do something for myself and just call it a night." Unlinking her arm from his, she wrapped him in a quick hug before taking a step back. "I'll see you in the week? I'll be a lot more fun when I'm out of the torture contraptions strapped to my feet." Smiling at him, Kira raised her hand in a small wave before turning and heading towards the exit and the haven that was her bubble bath.
THE END.
“Never would have guessed.” Levi mused of the remark she made about her dress, noticing the smile that started to appear on Kira’s expression. At least he seemed to be doing something right, even if he was far from the best at providing any sort of advice, yet he’d be more than willing to listen if that would help. Regardless, allowing Kira to sit alone in a corner for the duration of the evening didn’t seem fair. Going on about getting the night over with on his part paled in comparison. Something in her low spirits substantially got to him, a direct correlation from having witnessing one another in some substantially heavy moments. “— I’m sorry...you should be having a good time. Instead of all that happening..” Levi sighed with a nod as she detailed the setbacks she’d had to him. He couldn’t blame her for how horrible it was that everything she pointed out occurred at once. “Why not? And you’re right. There are worse things, like waiting in too long of lines right now.” With a shake of his head, he finally stood upwards from his seat, holding an arm out. “Maybe someone’s break-dancing. Or even if they're just making an idiot of themselves, worth it to see whatever's going on I guess.” He jested, shrugging.
