My biggest issue with the 'Vee is not Wad' theory is that San specifically promised to protect and cherish Wad for the rest of his life which would mean that loving Vee instead would be breaking his vow to the goddess. And it would render all of the parallels of Vee basically to San as San was to Wad null and void. It takes the entire conversation about wanting the person you love to move on from you and takes all the meaning out from behind it... I just... I get it, it could be the twist, but I am always the one sitting here hoping that the twists are internal twists and not Completely Changing The Advertised Plot twists.

But I am often wrong.

But I just... I am here for Destined Lovers Meeting Again and overcoming odds and learning to grow and better, for change and choice to meet stagnation and destiny, for a man who loved so desperately he sold his body into pain and agony for a century in the hopes of finding her and repaying a fraction of the protection she gave only for her to be reborn as he was born originally and for him to have to be the one to take care of the reincarnation of his lover, to learn how to move forward again after a century of remaining frozen in time.

AND we have the whole plot where there's obviously someone trying to keep them apart in order to get to the other half of the stone and that we know that the character saying Vee isn't Wad's reincarnation is obviously questionable and manipulative...

I just want this show to do right by the themes I see and the right is to show that reincarnation and promises hold meaning but so does growth and change and choice.

Why Kushina and Sakura are similar

Firstly, their hair colour is rare but unique. Most importantly their hair colour belongs in the same colour branch.

Not only that but their hair colour represents a colour that people point out in the series. For Sakura, her hair is the colour of the cherry blossoms 🌸 which earned her the name “Sakura” in the first place and as for Kushina, her hair is the colour of a tomato 🍅.

Secondly, they both were bullied at a young age. Kushina was bullied for her unique hair colour and Sakura was bullied for her large forehead

Thirdly, they both have a nasty temper when provoked by others and won’t hesitate to beat that person if they talk shit to them. Plus, they developed this temper due to the bullying they suffered.

Fourthly, they both have a friendly relationship with blond haired men, they especially both have a friendly relationship with Naruto whom they both care deeply for. Bonus, one of them gets married to a blond haired man.

Fifthly, their hair, I mean just look at it! Their hairline is the EXACT same!! (I even drew it too!) and whenever Sakura grows out her hair it looks so similar to Kushina’s it is SO surreal!

Lastly, they both are loving mothers who would do anything for their beloved child no matter what. And, their children take more from their fathers in terms of looks but have their personalities.

Bonus, they both gave birth to their children outside of Kohona. Kushina gave birth to Naruto in a remote cave while Sakura gave birth to Sarada in Orochimaru’s hideout

I have mixed feelings on how Qian Jin was used in s2. Bc on one hand, he was basically a Shakespearean villain which works with his backstory around plays. Probably a reference to Othello with him killing the wife he thought was cheating on him. His whole thing about “you need evidence to base your claims” and him supporting his points or avoiding the police using that logic. And the irony of it all is that he killed his wife based on assumptions with zero evidence. And it’s great from a tragic standpoint for the twins bc their father had done a similar thing. From one abusive coward to the next it’s a constant cycle. The tradeoff is that it makes him much less interesting. After the reveal of his true intentions, it’s like… you’re just a bitch.

And yeah you can get into his guilt for killing his unborn child as well. But that’s something he brought onto himself and is insistent on denying the truth.

Which to me is just…idk what to tell you bro.

And if he is a Shakespearean villain, Qian Jin should’ve been killed off. Commit to it y’know cuz he’s in jail doing nothing. Even if he breaks out in s3, LTC is gonna kill him and I don’t think even LX can convince him otherwise. Idk what his purpose to the plot would be? Personally, I would’ve liked if they left his story the way it appeared on the surface. As him simply being a victim of circumstance, slowly going insane from it, so he’s trying to save his wife. Because it could tie perfectly to Lu Guang at the last episode.

And you could argue (and be right) that LTC can serve as the LG comparison. But I think Qian Jin would’ve worked better. So I’m in this position where I get why they wrote him that way, it does work for the story, but it takes away the enjoyment of his character for me. And he is treated as the “final boss” in the last ep (before we meet LX). It makes the s2 finale not as climatic as I wanted it to be. This is really my only main complaint about s2 besides some nitpicks.

Overall I loved link click season 2 though. If you prefer season 1 that’s totally understandable and I do think it is a bit better. However if you thought s2 wasn’t a good season at all I think you’re tripping but that’s just me. Kinda glad I wasn’t there in September for the discourse especially around Lu Guang I would’ve fought some bitches. Again, the difference! When Kamran kissed Alizeh he just grabbed her and kissed her without even questioning whether she wanted to kiss him he just assumed because he was too driven by his own desire to have her. Meanwhile Cyrus has constantly made it incredibly clear that he would never do anything to Alizeh without her consent and that he'd only touch her if she herself is certain and gives him permission. You think they haven't kissed for 2 books now because Cyrus doesn't want to? No he's basically burning with the need but he knows Alizeh doesn't want to (she does she's just very confused rn give her a bit of time) so he holds himself back.

When did Istvan and Erik meet

Off the bat—the historical timeline is flexible by a few years where it fits the story (Jan Ptaczek age discourse oh my).

Erik is variously German

Istvan should be around early 40s

Istvan’s main political/military aim is to remove the Ottoman presence from SE Europe (aka Revenge Classic)

Istvan was present at the battle of Nicopolis (1396)

According to a brief wiki skim, Ottoman incursions into Hungary in 1375 in alliance with Wallachia would seem to line up with Istvan’s personal timeline (tweenager in 1375, early 40s in 1403)

Also brief wiki skim, Sigismund was mostly concerned with infighting or campaigns to the southeast until after the failed attempt on Nicopolis, after which he moved into Holy Roman politics. The last crusaders apparently returned no later than 1398.

So: Probable timeline for Istvan murdering German-speaking peasant families would be after 1397

Erik is referred to as a boy by everyone who meets him. He’s around the same age as Henry by narrative parallel (both boys with families murdered by Istvan). Henry treats him patronizingly, though that might just be Henry being himself (default attitude when angry is superior/patronizing).

Henry is unmarried and considered to be a late bloomer, most of his peers are unmarried. Slightly older than Hans, stated to be early 20s in the game timeline

Let’s say Erik is 20-25 in 1403, that tracks back to 14-19 in 1397

On the outer bounds, 19 in 1397 seems old. That would strengthen the parallels drawn between Henry and Erik (orphaned at the same age), but he refers to Istvan taking him in. 20 in 1403 seems a bit young, since he’s unchallenged within the mercenary band.

Conclusion: inconclusive. Character-wise I’m more inclined to believe that they met when Erik was mid-teens and have known each other for 8+ years, but it’s hard to square with the (can’t stress how quick of a skim it was) wikipedia timeline.

Options for further exploration:

Option A: met in tweens, 8+ years -> young Erik was raised by the mercenaries, KCD Erik is a seasoned commander, Istvan has worked with Erik as a captain longer than he’s trained him as a student

Option B: met in tweens, 6 years -> young Erik was raised by the mercenaries, KCD Erik has the respect of his troop but is still a greenhorn, Istvan has only recently let him go off and operate independently

Option C: met in teens, 8+ years -> Erik was more or less raised by the time the mercenaries came along, Istvan acted as the master to his apprentice, apprenticeship ended long enough ago for him to be a captain in his own right

Option D: met in teens, 6 years -> Erik has been a youngster climbing the ranks more than a tag along kid, docility/reliance is more a symptom of arrested development than of having parents removed, has the respect of the mercenaries as one of their own even if others see him as a kid
