AI Prompt: Write an entry in Dr. Eggman’s diary about Tidal Tempest Zone.
Dear Diary,
Today, I had an interesting encounter at Tidal Tempest Zone. I was on a routine inspection of my badniks when I stumbled upon Sonic and his friends attempting to stop one of my latest creations.
As you know, Sonic is always full of quips and jokes, and today was no exception. He made a remark about how I must be a fish out of water in the underwater level. I didn't find it very amusing, but I'll give him points for effort.
Then Tails chimed in, commenting on the state of my machinery. Of course, I quickly dismissed his concerns, as my technology is always top-notch. But before I knew it, Knuckles was also there, making snarky comments about my badniks.
I don't know what it is with those three, always trying to one-up each other with their jokes. But today, I decided to give them a taste of their own medicine. I used my Egg Mobile to send them flying through the water, and they ended up getting stuck in a coral reef.
As they struggled to get free, I chuckled to myself, proud of my quick thinking. Maybe next time they'll think twice before making jokes at my expense.
Until next time,
Dr. Eggman

I think it's Tidal Tempest in ending animation of Sonic CD. But without water. Like early Labyrinth (that level clearly was the inspiration behind Tidal Tempest).

Monster part 2- Shadows of the Serpent
Part 1 is here
Starts as Mattheo x reader kind of thing, ends as Tom x reader
An: I highly recommend listening to ‘something blue’ by VOILÀ, it fits the story

The echo of Mattheo's laughter had long faded from Y/N's ears, but its venom still lingered in the recesses of her mind—a cruel reminder of the girl she once was. That sweet, wide-eyed fool who had begged for his approval, twisting herself into a monster just to match his darkness. "Pathetic," he had called her efforts, his voice dripping with disdain as she spiraled into the abyss. "Excessive." Those words had fueled her descent, turning her into something fearsome, something unbreakable. But now, as she stood on the brink of a new dawn, those memories were mere shadows, easily eclipsed by the man at her side.
Tom Riddle was not like Mattheo. Where Mattheo was a storm of chaos, unpredictable and wild, Tom was a calculated tempest, his every move deliberate and devastating. Their love was a war zone, a clash of wills that left scars in its wake. It wasn't tender or soft; it was aggressive, a dance of dominance and defiance. They sparred with words like blades, their arguments explosive tempests that ended in bruising kisses and shared smirks of triumph. If one of them faltered—if Tom took a wound in their battles against rivals—Y/N would unleash hell, her magic a tidal wave of retribution. And if she bled, Tom would ensure the offender's world burned to ash. It was their version of affection: a fierce, unyielding bond forged in the fires of ambition and darkness.
They didn't seek love in the traditional sense. No, their union was a strategic alliance, a merger of two powerful forces destined to rule the wizarding world. Together, they were unstoppable—Y/N with her ruthless efficiency, honed from years of forbidden magic, and Tom with his masterful orchestration of fear and control. "We are the architects of a new order," Tom had whispered to her one night, his fingers tracing the scars on her arm from a recent duel. "And we will build it on the bones of those who dare oppose us." She had smiled then, her eyes gleaming with the same cold fire that burned in his.
It was this shared vision that led them to the altar, in a dimly lit chamber deep within an ancient wizarding estate. The air hummed with dark energy, the walls adorned with serpentine runes that seemed to writhe in the flickering candlelight. Guests—mostly shadowy figures from the underbelly of the wizarding world—gathered in uneasy silence, their eyes darting between the couple and the uninvited specter in their midst: Mattheo Riddle.
He shouldn't have been there. Y/N had heard whispers that he had tried to worm his way in, perhaps driven by curiosity or regret. But Tom, ever perceptive, had allowed it—a calculated move to remind everyone, including Mattheo, of what he had lost. Mattheo lingered at the back, his dark eyes shadowed, his presence a ghost from Y/N's past. She caught glimpses of him as she walked down the aisle, her black gown flowing like liquid night, Tom waiting at the end with a predatory smile.
The officiant, a wizened wizard with a voice like gravel, droned on about eternal bonds and shared power. Y/N barely listened; her focus was on Tom, on the way his gaze devoured her, possessive and intense. But as the ceremony reached its climax, she felt it—a shift in the air, a tension that made her turn her head slightly.
Mattheo's eyes locked onto hers. He stood there, fists clenched, his face a mask of conflict. For a moment, it looked as though he might lunge forward, disrupt the vows, and reclaim what he had once discarded. Y/N's mind flooded with memories: his mocking laughter, the way he had sneered at her attempts to impress him. "You're trying too hard, Y/N. It's pathetic." The words echoed in her skull, a poisonous refrain. "Excessive." She had been excessive for him—too eager, too desperate. But now, as she stood there, radiating power that made the room tremble, she saw the regret in his eyes. It was too late for him. Far too late.
A smirk tugged at her lips as she turned back to Tom. Her voice was steady, laced with triumph, as she spoke the words that sealed her fate. "I do."
The officiant's final declaration hung in the air: "You may kiss your bride."
Tom moved like a serpent striking. His hand shot up, fingers wrapping around Y/N's throat with just enough pressure to assert his claim, not enough to hurt—though she wouldn't have minded if it did. He pulled her close, his lips crashing against hers in a kiss that was anything but gentle. It was possessive, a brand of ownership meant for the world to see, but especially for the brother watching from the shadows.
Y/N melted into it, her hands fisting in Tom's robes as their mouths clashed in a frenzy of dominance. She could feel Mattheo's gaze burning into her, a silent scream of what-ifs and too-lates. When she finally pulled back, breathless, she glanced over Tom's shoulder and met Mattheo's eyes one last time. The regret there was palpable, a mirror of the pain she had once endured. But it no longer touched her. She was no longer the girl he had rejected; she was a queen, forged in darkness and fire.
Tom's lips brushed her ear as the guests erupted into uneasy applause. "He knows what he's lost," he murmured, his voice a chilling caress. "And he'll never forget it."
There was no turning back now—not that Y/N wanted to. In Tom's arms, she had found her true power, her unyielding partner in the abyss. Their love was a weapon, sharp and unforgiving, and together, they would reign as the most formidable couple the wizarding world had ever known. The sweet girl Mattheo had mocked was dead, and in her place stood a force of nature, unbreakable and eternal.

whats a sonic game that you have meh feelings towards that everyone else seems to love? Like, it doesn't even have to be negative feelings necessarily. You can still find the game good, but not as great as everyone else thinks it is. What is that game for you?
These are common now so it probably doesn't feel very unique, but:
In the lead up to Christian Whitehead/Stealth's Retro Engine remake of Sonic CD coming out on Xbox Live Arcade, I realized I don't really like Sonic CD. I think exploration is an important element of those 2D Genesis Sonic games, but Sonic CD cranks the dial a little too far for my tastes.
Also, as far as people say that Sonic games were "always about speed," I feel like that's not true and Sonic CD is proof of that. Sonic CD is the only game from that era explicitly about speed, because it specifically throws junk in your way to force you to slow down. It knows you're trying to gain and maintain your run, because that's how time travel works, so levels are designed to deliberately trip you up. That's what it looks like when one of those games actually embraces speed as a gameplay mechanic.
And it sucks. There's so many little bits and bobs you get hung up on, and even some gotcha traps that are designed to drag you into a time zone you don't want to be in -- or put you in a section of level where getting back to where you were is a tedious process. Or worse, there are gotcha traps in Metallic Madness where you have springs that launch you into spikes you can't see. People complain about that in the Sonic Advance games, but Sonic CD did it first.
Retro Engine helps with that somewhat, because the original Sonic CD has kind of funky controls and Retro Engine does a lot to smooth out those rough edges. But it's still a tedious game. Not bad, just methodical in a way I don't like. An entire game of getting stopped every ten feet and having to run it back over and over and over again.
It came to a point where I was going through and replaying/comparing every version of Sonic CD I owned, from the Sega CD original to the PC version to the Gamecube version plus various emulators -- and in every one I'd revisit, all of them were a brand new file where I'd previously stopped playing at Tidal Tempest. Every single one stopped at that level. And that's not even the worst level in the game.
Origins, with the ability to use the drop dash to time travel, helps a lot more. And there was a mod for the PC version decomp that made time travel a lot easier, too. Same deal there.
I also wasn't super impressed with Sonic Colors. That game's way too guided for my tastes. They keep a very tight leash on you in terms of what you're allowed to do and when. It's a boost game, I want to lay on the boost and never stop, but they ration boost energy out so minimally that it frustrated me. Especially because the platforming controls in that game aren't great, so a lot of the stuff between boost sections just isn't very fun for me. Also, the writing continues to kind of age like milk and I never found it that funny to begin with.
Colors Ultimate gives you a little more boost energy to work with but the game is still kind of boring, imo.

To celebrate CD's 30th anniversary, would you like to gush about the Bad Futures and how they efficiently portray Eggman's personality and cruelty without a word? :P
So then, Sonic fandom. Eggman isn't a dangerous villain, you say? Then how come, when the Little Planet is under his rule...
Palmtree Panic becomes a polluted mess, with the lake being as grey and dirty as the rest of the land?
Collision Chaos becomes tacky and broken, with the remaining lights sticking out like a sore thumb amongst all the muddiness, instead of complimenting the vibrancy of the other time zones?
Tidal Tempest looks more like a disused sewage system than any healthy ruins or aquarium?
Quartz Quadrant has been mined out from top to bottom, with rusted machinery galore?
Wacky Workbench becomes... Wacky Workbench-ier?
Stardust Speedway becomes a neon nightmare, where neither the thunderstorm above or the imposing metropolis below is there to greet you?
And Metallic Madness is abandoned, cold and withered, having lived out its remaining usefulness to its creator? The person who created this base is human, yet it looks so alien.
And in all of them, the Badniks are worn and forgotten, trudging on in spite of their decay, and in some cases despite lacking a weapon of any sort.
Some fans believe this is all due to Eggman's vision going beyond his control, because they think he shouldn't be able to tie his shoelace without something going out of his control. But this is false: Eggman just doesn't care. For all the great lengths he goes to conquer an island, a kingdom, a whole planet, or more still, he is still a man who grows bored easily. When he eventually does get bored of the current place he's conquered, he'll move on to somewhere else in the hopes of adding that to his list of conquests. This is why, contrary to popular belief, he would not be indecisive on what to do in the event that he finally conquered the world and killed Sonic for good. He would just move on to conquering the universe. Nothing would be out of reach for his level of greed, his determination, and his ability to actually pull it off.
The side-effects of his doings may rarely be for their own sake, but the state of what he modifies to his liking does not concern him, nor does the amount of casualties in his list of deeds to make it this far. As long as there's a place for him to rule, and as long as there are remaining people who are there to obey his every whim, then everything is good, he says.
Other villains blow up the planet and leave it at that. A terrible fate to be sure, but a brief one. Eggman bastardizes the planet, reducing it to a sorry, parodic shell of its former self, with the self-aggrandizing monuments made in the doctor's likeness existing almost as if to mock the suffering of everyone that's beneath him. Which is everyone. Because only Eggman is supreme. Only Eggman matters. Only Eggman decides.
Unless Sonic stops him.

Honestly Stardust Speedway is the only level I dislike. The rest of the game is solid, especially if you like exploring :) Tidal Tempest is a good water level, too, because you need to deliberately sink to get stuck in the watery sections, otherwise it's easy to keep out. (and the music is gorgeous in both OSTs, I agree)
Man I LOVE exploring stuff in 2D Games, that's why I like deltarune and Undertale so much, simple but fun stuff you can find when you Take your time to explore :3
Any favorite Bad future versions of the levels? Mine is Palmtree Panic
Well, my favorite games are 3&K and Advance 3, which have wide levels to explore :P
As for Bad Futures, I also love Palmtree Panic the most. It just feels dirty and desecrated. The lake turned into grey sludge, the palms being mechanized and rusty, machinery everywhere carrying dirty water and poisoning the earth further, polluted sky... if you don't know how the game works, Zone 3 will greet you with this scenery, and it will feel like a punch in the gut.
Even better if you're playing with the original music!
youtube
I love this theme so much. It is a deliberate mockery of the original peppy theme, on top of being a banger.
But I played with the US music (Gems Collection had the American PC version) and it's also effective, in a different way, more "what happened here? this is terrible..."
youtube
Another Bad Future I love aesthetically is Tidal Tempest. Again, it feels dirty, like Eggman turned the ruins into sewage (and still bothered to deface them because of course). In this case, I will absolutely blame the US track for creeping me out as a kid:
youtube
Those sounds that resemble scratched glass...

Spooky Video Game Music No. 319. Tidal Tempest (Bad Future) (US)- Sonic CD (SEGA CD/PS3/Xbox 360/iOS/Android)
Looks like Sonic CD returns to this list for the first time since 2016 (with No. 70 being the Boss Theme from the US version of Sonic CD). The main purpose of Sonic CD involves Sonic saving Little Planet and bringing a Good Future in each Zone. It can be achieved by doing either one of 2 ways. One involves finding a robot generator in the past or collecting the Time Stones from a Special Stage at the end of Act 1 or 2. Depending on how you do, Act 3 would change into a Good or Bad Future. The Good Future usually has a more happier and pleasant tone with Dr. Robotnik’s influence gone. Should you mess up, the Bad Future takes over and you can tell. In Tidal Tempest, what was once a beautiful underwater cavern is now turned into a mechanical desolate factory with polluted water everywhere. Sonic can still go below water, but you can feel the lifelessness and despair of this once beautiful cave. Good or Bad Future either way, Dr. Robotnik is still waiting for Sonic for a battle…
While Sonic CD’s Japanese soundtrack usually goes for a funky catchy soundtrack, the US soundtrack sounds more atmospheric and fitting with the locations and this one really fits the Bad Future of Tidal Tempest too well. The slow and dreary tone gives off this unsettling and creepy atmosphere, showing off how Dr. Robotnik ruined this once beautiful area with his machinery. Later on, you can hear vocals breathing as if someone is dehydrated from the polluted water, really setting the creepy and dark tone of the Bad Future. Lastly, the song slows down and what sound like a heartbeat with a creepy guitar riff starting off the loop which gives off the feeling of hopelessness, especially since Sonic (or the player) didn’t save Tidal Tempest in time. Even if the Japanese soundtrack is more popular and catchier, the US soundtrack is still really amazing for its more atmospheric and darker tone and this song shows it very well. 🎃

i recently got into the sonic 1&2 demos. some of them are bangers, such as this one
19. Special Stage (Sonic 1) - Demo Masato Nakamura
see above, with the additional bonus of me adding the mega drive version before
20. Vanilla Jack Stauber
FINALLY!!! FINALLY!!! A SONG I CAN ACTUALLY EXPLAIN BECAUSE IT ISNT NiGHTS OR SONIC!!!
and i just realised its instrumental. great. if it helps, its sort of like a lullaby.
21. dancing around in circles until my little feet fall off spellcasting
WOOHOO!!! SILLY CLOWN MUSIC!!! LIKE NiGHTS!!!!
22. Dream Sweet in Sea Major Miracle Musical
alooooooooooone
i think less about the lyrics and more about the fact this sounds vaguely magic and a little christmassy (because, yk, christmas NiD)???
23. A Lady Tally Hall
idk its kinda calm ig. if you ignore the 'lady' bit (although NiGHTS probably wouldnt mind being called that) i suppose you could say theyre good and evil? idk
24. 13 Tally Hall
i probably should have added ruler of everything afterwards but idk why i feel i shouldnt
25. Spring Yard Zone Masato Nakamura
this is my favourite stage in sonic 1!!! so much so that i made up loads of lore about it having homes just so that i could make an oc be from there!!! anyway yeah the usual. its sonic team. sounds vaguely magical.
26. Temptation Stairway (Waltz Variation) Metaroom
when i got into ena temptation stairway was the latest episode, or really anything to do with ena. maybe the first teaser for dream bbq was out??? before we knew it was a game??? idk. point is, ena is absolutely bafflingly surreal, and i could sort of imagine this in a NiGHTS game. sonic team please contact metaroom for any future NiGHTS projects please please please 🙏🙏🙏
27. Fancam RYL0, Aron Enoch
the lyrics dont fit even slightly ❤️ but it sounds cute
28. Theme of "CHAO" SEGA SOUND TEAM
this is such a silly happy song from a game that references NiGHTS! also ive literally gone bankrupt from buying stuff in the chao garden black market in sadx lol
29. Isle Unto Thyself Miracle Musical
to me, this DEFINITELY fits the magical theme, as well as the sensation of flying. i have absolutely no idea what any of the lyrics mean.
30. Black Rainbows Miracle Musical
it also feels kinda magical and follows isle unto thyself
31. White Ball Miracle Musical
see above only less because it feels magical and more because it follows black rainbows. i didnt add murders because that's definitely a stretch to say it fits NiGHTS

Sonic Quilford AU thing 5. Yes, we're still going.
When Amy was 8, she ran off from her parents while they were all on vacation to Never Lake, after getting into her uncle's tarot cards and predicting that she'd end up running into her true love. Yes, it would take a long amount of time, but they were destined to be. Though, she didn't understand why it would be a painful turnaround... (It's because Metamy is canon, and it's referring to Metal, not Sonic)
As inspired by this headcanon by @autisticshadowthehedgehog, Gerald ended up building a device to keep possibilities open in case the Black Arms ever ended up on Earth. It was later found by Team Chaotix, who decided to call it the "Black Arm Temporal Reset Button", or the BATRB for short. Whenever any of the many sensors around Westopolis or Central City(where City Escape takes place) detected something 75% Black Arm, it would activate the button, allowing a "reset" back to when it first sensed the DNA
Because of their usage of the BATRB, Team Chaotix are aware something was altered in relation to Sonic's vacation in Soleanna around his 15th Birthday, but they're not sure what
Rather than what happen in canon, the Time Eater held Volcanic Vault, Star Light, Mystic Cave, Good Future!Tidal Tempest, Sandopolis, Twinkle Park, Green Forest, Hang Castle, the original Egg Carrier, White Acropolis, Arid Sands, and Starlight Carnival in Non Existence(the white void. It's also where Solaris stayed before he was dragged back into existence). Combining with this, Ray, Mighty, Big and Omega were dragged in as well. Ray, as the first person to become Sonic's friend, is in Volcanic Vault from Segasonic(as that's the first adventure in my timeline). Mighty's in Star Light Zone, bumping Tails and Amy to join Knuckles in matching Zone with what game they debuted in. Big was just around, fishing. Omega was in the Egg Carrier, joining the rest of the E Series(Zero, who's going to CORRECTLY be called Alpha, Beta, Gamma(who is our Gamma, he just can't stop himself), Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta) in a "boss fight". Shadow's Rival Battle also gets a change in scenery, with it taking place in ShTH's GUN Fortress rather than in Final Chase. Silver's and Metal's still take place in Crisis City and Bad Future!Stardust Speedway though
Espio, due to ninja training, got used to blood/gore/death by age 8. However, after starting the Chaotix Detective Agency with Vector and Charmy, and to the shock/humiliation of his older siblings(Mirra(Boy, 2 years older), and Faceta(Girl, 2 years older)), he started weening off this, learning how to open his heart again. This all came to a head when the Metal Virus happened, when Espio fully learned how death was supposed to feel. Going back to his training, he beat up Zazz to the point where the insane Zeti felt fear for the 2nd time in his life from all the blood coating the chameleon's kunai and shurikens. No matter how much Zeena and Zomnom mock Zazz for considering Espio terrifying, he never buckles in his opinion. Who would after being ambushed by a cloth-covered, furious specter of death that walks among the people of the ground
Sonic does have counterparts in both "1001 Arabian Nights" and "King Arthur and the Knights of The Round Table", being Uhu the Wind Djinn and the real Arthur Penquilon(whom Merlin(Eggman) never wanted in charge, due to his odd nature)
Sonic's bilingual, as he knows a fair amount of Spanish, thanks to two of the caretakers at the Christmas Island Orphanage. Due to this, Sonic consistently liters what he says with Spanish, to the point that Tails and Amy have picked it up, along with his therapist(his Red Two-Tone Neutral Fly/Fly Chao, Nightgown)
