So sometime last week there was a little accident where something stupid happened, resulting in something else stupid happening, and after a short string of stupid, my favorite teapot wire sculpture shattered.

It didn't picture very well, but it had wire bent to mimic the clouds found in Asian calligraphy, tiny teacups I hand-painted to match the teapot, and was meant to look like stylized steam. I didn't think I'd find that teapot again, but after a few hours on ebay, I found a similar one that's probably from the same series. It doesn't have the stems or exact same design, but it does have the flowers, shape, and color. Hopefully the spout will be the same size. If not, I might start the project from scratch again, though that's a lot of wire to throw out.
On a not unrelated vein, I found many other small teapots that I put in my watchlist, and now I have six or so offers from sellers that I can't take up until payday, and they're all set to expire before my payday. 😂 Sorry sellers!
Wish me luck!

This brilliant example of space planning packs more equipment and facilities into a tiny area than you might think possible. The sink is raised slightly to leave space for a dishwasher below and the breakfast bar doubles as a serving zone. A two-ring electric cooktop is set below the wall-mounted microwave and a chopping board can be fitted into the sink to turn it into a food preparation area.

Nessie, ceramic
My goal was to create a living teapot, either one that looked like it was magically brought to life or something more biological. Started with a concept more like the latter, but my skill at the wheel changed the spherical shape I wanted into something more whimsical haha.

#this took me. so many weeks.#oh the hubris in the statement “i think ill make a teapot :]”#first teapot ive ever made and though it holds barely more than a tiny paper cup of water it pours beautifully#so ill take that as my win for functionality#ceramics#ceramic art#teapot#pottery#art#wasps pots#waspsart

Got a new addition to my teapot collection.

Saw it grocery shopping and actually went back today for it (and milk). It was out for Mother's Day (Happy Mother's Day to you moms of all sorts!), and I got lucky; there were only two left. One thing though. It came filled with miniature roses.
Now, despite my family tree suggesting I should have a green thumb, this sadly skipped me. The only plant I have kept alive for over a year was a bonsai tree, when I was living with a positive plant necromancer. (She used to steal the dying/dead potted plants from campus and put them around our room. They'd bloom within a few weeks.) The month she graduated, it died.
Second longest was a cactus. My cat knocked it off the windowsill and it died.
I'm told I pay too much attention to them.
Needless to say, I went in to buy this thing not having much hope for this poor plant, especially knowing grocery store plants don't have that great of a shelf life anyway.
BUT. These are miniature roses. I love miniatures roses. My mom used to have a lovely miniature rose plant in the corner of her garden, where the chickens mostly ignored it. I loved that rose. So, I'm giving this gardening thing a shot again. I bought a pot I belatedly learned was too small, and some potting soil, and came home and did some research. Needless to say, it never would have survived in that teapot. It didn't even have drainage unless you count tipping it over and pouring it out. A forum post I found said that most miniature roses found in planter sections at stores (as opposed to the gardening section) are actually 3-4 shoots they snipped, forced to bloom, and shoved in a bit of soil to hopefully root. Thankfully, these things had roots when I finally eased them out of the teapot, so one worry down. There were three growing in it, so I tried to loosen them the best I could, but I'm afraid of breaking the roots too much. Followed the directions on the potting soil, with the variation of adding half a pot of soil before putting the plant in as opposed to only one-third, given how short the roots are. Plopped the roses in, carefully filled in around them, and patted it down. The roots were already so saturated with water that I was afraid to add any.
Now it is sitting on my back patio railing in full sunlight (6-8hrs/day, according to research), I'm going to try to remember to bring it in at night and take it out during days with good weather, and check the soil moisture every three days. This is going to take a lot of executive function, but I'm determined that if these roses die, it won't be for my lack of trying to keep them alive.

If they survive a few months, I'll repot them into a larger pot. If not, I'll clean this pot and see if I can take it back to the store, or maybe get another cactus. We'll see. In the meantime, I'll probably be using the teapot planter as a watering can, since apparently you're not supposed to pour water directly on the leaves.

Wish me luck, and advice welcome. (Please.)
tldr: Evil bought a teapot and got a baby plant. Send help.

My mum’s got this tea set that hasn’t been used in like 80 years or something because it was my dad’s grandma’s and he was convinced it was worth something… listen to me, it’s not, and I’ll tell you why. It’s because that thing is legally mine and nothing good would ever happen to me
#like the other day she asked to look at my copy of the first hp book to check it wasn’t a first edition#i was like girl if it had been a first edition don’t you think i’d have sold it by now#i only still have that series because they were my dad’s and they’re worth nothing. i think my copy of ootp#is a special edition worth approximately £50 but that’s the most any of these are worth#the first 4 are early editions but they’re teastained and falling apart. no one wants them. 6 and 7 are first ed but no one cares#ANYWAY the tea set#i found someone selling a cup and saucer (just one of each) for $25 but i think that’s literally just because it’s a uk import#people in the us will pay well for nice old british fine china. but people in the uk will not because we all have it in our homes#because somebody’s gran hoarded it#near as i can tell the full set is worth maybe £50 if sold in the uk#the thing is it’s not a full set because i broke the sugar bowl when i was 8#i’m stopping the nonsense right now and putting the plates in normal circulation as sandwich and biscuit plates#they are way too nice to just sit on a shelf for all eternity. additionally i’m not having kids so there’s no new generation to save them#for. you know who’ll be inheriting my stuff? some random great-nephew who doesn’t know who i am#why would i leave him an art deco tea set to sell on ebay when i could just like……. use it#personal#forgot to add. i don’t know what to do with the teapot and cups#the cups are SO tiny they barely fit a tea bag in them and additionally i don’t drink tea#i feel bad donating half a tea service but i want the saucers#maybe i’ll just do ebay. or see if any of the charity shops will take them#it’s not like it’s a unique set.. someone somewhere probably has similar saucers. hell someone probably has the SAME saucers but no cups

every time i invest in a slightly nice kitchen tool or appliance that increases my quality and joy of life, even if i already had a tool that I Could Be Using But It Sucks In Some Way, it's like wow i really DON'T have to walk on my knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. i CAN let the soft animal of my body love what it loves
#can you tell i went on an excursion after school to a Store With Things.#for a whole year ive been using the teeny tiny kettle that only fills half of my teapot and only now it occured to me.#i can get a big kettle. that boils more than 8 dl of water. i can make so much more tea. i can live better than this#i have also since re-moving in organized my tea so much better. instead of stacking it in a cupboard#so high up i have to get a chair to rummage around in it#it's in a lower big drawer where i now can reach all of the tea with a lot less effort.#i can rotate my teas so much easier now!!!! i won't just default to whatever i can grab without a chair!!!!!#IM SO SMART AND GREAT AT LIVING IN A HOUSE#[banishes all the kitchen stuff im not using but belongs to the house to the Upstairs Region]

Starting a new sketch! I've learned that drawing books falling in different ways is a little bit of a challenge. I'm taking some creative liberties here instead. ヽ( ・∀・)ノ

#when i say knick knack i don’t mean a snow globe or keychain i mean a tiny teapot with a matching cup#it serves no purpose and reminds me of no place or time but it brings me joy#and she was going to throw it out!!#her trash is my treasure i suppose#personal
