discussion encouraged, aka please elaborate in tags or comments. i may be provoking the lion (please be civil) with this but i'm very curious about what the community thinks
for reference, "good" parenting implies that the kid in question feels secure and has no severe concerns or grievances with sonic himself or with having sonic as a parent (e.g., little to no daddy issues)
i'd appreciate rb's to boost the sample size but this is for personal research and satisfaction mostly!

anyway, i've said it before, and i'm thinking about it again, but i honestly don't think religion, such as it is, even occurs to emmrich as something related to he himself outside of his job, considering in all my hours of running around with him i have heard him only make exactly one (1) comment on it entirely, and it was about some statues in the hossberg wetlands.
like, let's be real here, nevarra is weird. and i think the mourn watch - being mostly an...isolated isn't the right word but we'll say insular - little group leads them to be even weirder. like he could have very well gone the same path as cassandra and clung to religion after a tragic life event, but he's a mage, and that religion generally says that makes him bad (simplified, calm down), and instead he views the watchers as his saviors after that traumatic life event, not any kind of higher power, and i guess the point i'm trying to slowly wade my way to is that religion is a curiosity, sure, but it has very little place in his orderly little world, when even the dead can't relate things beyond the end of their lives and the maker's golden city was actually built by elves.
#back by unpopular demand - me / ooc.#( tbd )#// honestly tho this is one of those things i keep turning over#// like that debrief of that particular memory is interesting because#// he has so little reaction to that reveal in the way the believers (harding) in the room do#// it's fascinating sure but it doesn't fundamentally change anything for him#// i don't know that i'd go so far as to say emmrich's an atheist but#// i do think he leans that way on the scale from the agnostic middle#// this is a man who likes facts#// things that can be recorded and observed#// religion requires a faith he doesn't have so it's like#// not gonna tip his needle one way or another to realize it's all probably bullshit

ALL FINGERS AND THUMBS
THE rule of thumb that can be applied to virtually all new TV series states that the number of trailers they get is inversely proportionate to their actual merit.
And never was that better illustrated than in the case of FIST OF FUN (BBC 2).
Here’s yet another idea moved over from radio in the mistaken belief that if Stewart Lee and Richard Herring work well in one medium they will automatically do so in the other. They don’t.
Radio comedy is usually an accompaniment to something else and if it starts to flag then it is a simple matter mentally to switch off for a while.
Television demands a conscious effort to sit down and concentrate on the images and sounds on the screen and is therefore far less forgiving.
Fist of Fun rarely rises above the humour level of an early-teens comic and the only reason I stayed with it was out of curiosity as to when we would finish with the preliminaries and the funny bits would begin. I’m still waiting.
- Chris Rundle's review of Fist of Fun in the Western Daily Press, Wednesday the 12th of April, 1995. As featured (and mocked) on Fist of Fun s1e4.
#here's a tip for you all: although the british newspaper archive does require a paid account to read articles#it does NOT require an account to read small blurbs of an article that include the specific phrase you searched for#and it also doesn't limit the number of times you can search without an account#meaning that a cunning and determined user can slowly make their way through an article search-by-search#fist of fun#britcom#stewart lee#richard herring

My family has never prescribed to the belief that certain things (ie evil eye charms, horns etc) have to be gifted. You can purchase then for yourself and still gain protection from them
BUT I have noticed gifts are far more powerful. So you’re extra lucky if someone gives you one
#witch tip#witchblr#i don’t know it just rubs me the wrong way when things seem to become collective requirements on the internet

i realise that in fact this is just people have different views/experiences than me, but i keep seeing ‘hey here’s an intro to beauty makeup for people who might not have had the chance to learn as kids/teenagers’ type posts on Stuff For You that encourage starting out with liquid eyeliner, and part of me wants to suspect this is a secret transmisogynist plot to convince people that presenting femme is impossible
#it is imo incontrovertibly the most awkward time consuming requiring-of-precision and easiest to fuck up way of doing eyeliner#im somewhat surprised it’s still used by the general public now that felt tip liners are a thing

What are some Americanisms you hate?
i don’t think there’s any that i outright hate tbh,, i actually had to google it so that shows how few i think about on a day to day lmao :’)
i guess the one that confuses me most is ‘i could care less’, idk why but that one seems to get more use in the us than ‘couldn’t care less’ and like in the context it’s never right ahdkahdjs
#or maybe the tv shows ive seen it in just had rough writers#oh and!#the way you guys say aluminum makes me laugh too tho i have to admit#but that’s about it :’) i can’t think of any others really#idk if you were meaning phrases or like if you meant more ‘cultural’ stuff like required tipping or smth but that doesn’t bother me#stellewrites asks

Day 11 of 30: I haven't updated in a few days, but that doesn't mean I haven't still been on track! I have exceeded the 1666 daily word goal every single day this week, and today was no exception: today, I wrote 3559 words (wowie zowie) and my total word count for the month is now 23,873.
Y'all, that is NUTS. I'm almost halfway there. I've never in my life gotten this far during NaNoWriMo, and even if I don't make it to 50k words by the end of this, I'm still so insanely proud of myself you guys have no idea
#i really do think I've improved as an author because of this too. normally I'm way too quick to go into editing mode#but completing this challenge is requiring me to NOT go there which is HUGE#like learning to be happy that i got words on the page even tho they're not good? that’s monumental.#i always lose momentum when i'm writing because i get discouraged that the words aren’t coming out right and then i just stop writing#but this month i'm like ''that's not the word i'm looking for. oh well i don't have time for this i gotta just keep writing''#and i know this is the most basic writing tip but for once i'm actually forcing myself to follow it#(but also not to brag or nothin but the stuff i wrote today? *chef's kiss* this was some good writing)

Every time I write kandrew I go through like six stages of grief about how I want them to be portrayed and then ultimately I just throw my hands up and start writing whatever the demon kicking its feet and twirling its hair demands of me and hope that works for somebody's palate
#usually i just ask my wife if it sounds reasonable#but usually i write them kind of confrontational#then soften it up cus i worry people wont read my andrew in the way im going for#then i worry theyre too soft and roughen them back up#then i worry again that its stilted#AND THEN i let my demons take the wheel and say eh if someone reads it and doesnt like it thats their fault ig#i worry too much about my characterization when i realise im woefully underskilled in comparison to others#and that my thoughts on certain aspects require a refined brush tip#and i just have to settle with what ive got to offer lol#nana text

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

Here is a skill that many of us are going to need for survival: how to tell if someone is offering to let you lie.
The tip-off phrase is "If [circumstance] was true, then we/I could do [helpful thing.]" This is not a guarantee that the person is offering, but it should tell you "I am being informed of a way to improve things."
Your confirmation phrase is "What documentation would that require?" This is essentially asking them "If people come asking me to prove this, will I be able to? Or will they not come at all?"
The answer you are hoping for with the confirmation phrase is "Just tell me if it's true, and I'll put it on the form." Note that this is not a direct instruction to lie, because they can't tell you that.
If they didn't mean to extend an offer to lie or this is a situation where they can't, then they'll list off something like your paystubs or your birth certificate. Your response back in that case is "Thanks, I'll tell my friends who qualify." This clears you of any concerns that you may have been considering lying.
The more complex answer is when they answer by giving you a form on the spot. Your job, in this case, is to scan the form and see if what they are asking you can be meaningfully verified by an official source.
Things that can be verified by an official source include, but are not limited to, your age, legal sex, income, veteran status, and place of residence. It's not generally a good idea to lie about these on official documents.
Be smart, and be practical. Do what you need to in order to stay alive, and keep an ear out for the people offering to help you do so.

Credit Score & Loan Approval: Everything You Need to Know

A credit score is one of the most important factors that banks and financial institutions consider when approving a personal loan. It determines your creditworthiness and plays a crucial role in deciding loan eligibility, interest rates, and approval speed.
If you’re planning to apply for a personal loan, understanding how credit scores impact the loan approval process is essential. In this article, we will discuss the importance of a credit score, its impact on personal loan approval, how to improve it, and the best lenders offering loans to individuals with different credit profiles.
1. What is a Credit Score?
A credit score is a three-digit number assigned to individuals based on their credit history and repayment behavior. It is provided by credit bureaus such as CIBIL, Experian, Equifax, and CRIF High Mark in India. The score ranges from 300 to 900, with a higher score indicating better creditworthiness.
A score of 750 or above is considered excellent and increases the chances of getting a personal loan at lower interest rates. A score between 650 and 749 is considered good, and borrowers in this range are also likely to get approved. A score between 550 and 649 may result in higher interest rates, while a score below 550 is considered risky, leading to loan rejection or extremely high interest rates.
🔗 Check Personal Loan Offers Here: 👉 Compare & Apply for a Personal Loan
2. Why is a Credit Score Important for Loan Approval?
When you apply for a personal loan, lenders check your credit score to assess your repayment capability. A high credit score makes you a more attractive borrower, leading to faster approvals and better loan terms.
2.1 Loan Eligibility
A high credit score increases the chances of loan approval as it assures lenders of responsible financial behavior. If your score is low, you may face rejection or require additional documents and a co-applicant to qualify for a loan.
2.2 Interest Rate Determination
Borrowers with a high credit score get lower interest rates, making their loans more affordable. On the other hand, a lower credit score means banks perceive you as a higher-risk borrower, leading to higher interest rates.
🔗 Best lenders offering low-interest personal loans: 👉 IDFC FIRST Bank Personal Loan 👉 Bajaj Finserv Personal Loan
2.3 Loan Amount Approval
Lenders prefer to offer higher loan amounts to applicants with a strong credit score, as they are considered financially reliable. If you have a low credit score, you may qualify for a lower loan amount than requested.
🔗 Best lenders for high-value personal loans: 👉 Tata Capital Personal Loan 👉 Axis Finance Personal Loan
2.4 Loan Repayment Flexibility
A strong credit score often leads to longer repayment tenures and affordable EMIs, making loan repayment more manageable. Individuals with lower credit scores may receive stricter repayment terms, shorter tenures, and higher EMI amounts.
🔗 Best lenders with flexible repayment terms: 👉 Axis Bank Personal Loan
3. How to Improve Your Credit Score for Loan Approval?
If you have a low credit score, you can take steps to improve it before applying for a personal loan. Here are some effective ways to increase your credit score and boost your chances of getting loan approval at favorable terms.
3.1 Pay Your EMIs and Credit Card Bills on Time
One of the most important factors affecting your credit score is your payment history. Ensure you pay your credit card bills, loan EMIs, and other outstanding dues on time to maintain a high credit score.
3.2 Maintain a Low Credit Utilization Ratio
Your credit utilization ratio refers to the amount of credit you use compared to your total available credit limit. Keeping this ratio below 30% shows lenders that you are not overly dependent on credit, positively impacting your credit score.
3.3 Avoid Multiple Loan Applications in a Short Period
Every time you apply for a loan, lenders perform a hard inquiry on your credit report. Too many loan applications in a short period can negatively affect your score and make you look financially unstable.
3.4 Check Your Credit Report for Errors
Sometimes, credit reports may contain errors or incorrect information that lower your credit score. Regularly check your credit report and dispute any inaccuracies with the respective credit bureau.
3.5 Maintain a Mix of Credit
Having a healthy mix of secured loans (home or car loans) and unsecured loans (personal loans or credit cards) helps demonstrate your ability to manage different types of credit, which can improve your credit score.
4. Can You Get a Personal Loan with a Low Credit Score?
While having a high credit score increases your chances of getting a personal loan at favorable terms, individuals with a low credit score may still be able to secure a loan by following these strategies:
✔ Apply for a lower loan amount to reduce the lender’s risk. ✔ Add a co-applicant or guarantor to strengthen your loan application. ✔ Opt for an NBFC or digital lender that offers loans to individuals with lower credit scores. ✔ Show proof of additional income to assure lenders of your repayment capacity.
🔗 Best lenders offering personal loans for low-credit score applicants: 👉 InCred Personal Loan
5. How to Apply for a Personal Loan Based on Your Credit Score?
If you’re planning to apply for a personal loan, follow these steps based on your credit score to increase your approval chances.
Step 1: Check Your Credit Score
Before applying, check your CIBIL score or credit score from any of the four credit bureaus.
Step 2: Compare Loan Offers
Compare lenders based on interest rates, loan amounts, repayment tenure, and processing fees. Choose a lender that offers the best loan terms for your credit profile.
🔗 Compare personal loan offers here: 👉 Best Personal Loan Offers
Step 3: Prepare Necessary Documents
Lenders require basic documents such as identity proof, address proof, income proof, and bank statements. Ensure you have all necessary documents before applying.
Step 4: Apply Online or Visit a Bank/NBFC Branch
Fill out an online application on the lender’s website or visit the nearest bank branch to submit your application. Upload documents digitally for faster processing.
Step 5: Loan Approval & Disbursal
Once approved, the loan amount is disbursed to your bank account within 24-48 hours. Higher credit scores lead to faster approval and quick disbursal.
Why Your Credit Score Matters for Loan Approval
Your credit score is a crucial factor in determining your personal loan eligibility, interest rates, and repayment terms. A higher credit score ensures faster loan approval, lower interest rates, and better borrowing conditions, while a lower credit score may result in higher rates or loan rejection.
If your credit score is low, improving it before applying for a personal loan can help you secure better loan terms. Always check your credit score, compare lenders, and apply for a loan that fits your financial needs.
For the best personal loan offers, apply here: 👉 Compare & Apply for a Personal Loan
By understanding how credit scores impact loan approval, you can make informed decisions and get the best loan deals that suit your financial goals! 🚀
