hey jess! i'm a new deobi as well (different from the last one) and was wondering if you had any recommendations for shows to get to know tbz better? thank you!

hey anon! sorry for the late response omg i wanted to have enough free time to properly compile videos for you ! tbz have a lot of stuff but i’ll link you some of my favorites ^^ (+ a lil desc. so you can decide if you wanna watch !) 

flower snack - few days until debut ? fck it let’s open a restaurant ! ~ this is pretty typical of your predebut shows but i think you get to see a lot of tbz’s chemistry and teamwork esp early on and the cringey embarrassing moments that will be immortalized on the internet forever to haunt them LOL

THE 100 [ep. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24] - force 12 boyz into a house and tell them they’re doing a concert ! ~ this is my personal favorite ! the haknew in this *chef’s kiss* but also you get to see a big chunk of their more domestic side / daily life and get to learn about their personalities really well ! it’s a good mix of fun and sentimental i think :’) but you really get to see their individual talents better too ! 

come on ! the boyz  - idk how to describe this they just do dumb stuff <3  ~ probably the most digestible it’s also more like your average variety show where they play games and compete for a “prize” lmao this one is also very good at introducing their personalities i feel 

come on ! the boyz summer rpg - the boyz go on vacation ... kinda ?  ~ summer fun in the sun ! domestic tbz part 2 u.u they just have fun trying not to kill each other i mean to do stuff while on vacation together :p it’s funny (close 2nd fav *v*) also somewhat cheesy and feel good if you like that stuff :D 

tbz play mafia ! [ 1, 2, reveal vers., chase vers.] - tbz play mafia !  ~ this should really be called tbz kill chanhee first THEN play mafia ... okay but the first two are iconic but i personally love reveal era’s mafia game :,))) so many betrayals, -100 IQ plays, and chaos they bring me so much joy u.u i honestly recommend the whole the play series but it’s a lot so only if you wanna ^~^ ! 

generation z - “we wanna be honest in our voice” ~ the most iconic ! the identity film followed by each of the member interviews i feel is the most ... genuine ? or raw content on how tbz feel about themselves, their personalities, and insecurities >.< i think if anything it might be the most significant recommendation on this list ahhh ! ;-;/

1. who do you most want to take care of?

honestly u know what . im pretty certain im just fundamentally incapable of taking care of people . but that aside . like . like definitely most of husband n bf/gf lines which once again is like . just most ppl in general . but like in a mutual love n care kinda way . BUT like that aside bc that feels like . an obvious answer,, jiheon my daughter? shes my daughter i better take care of her u know...

nd admittedly not answering the question here as these r suppsoed to be bias asks nd they arent my biases but i just want to mention that . as u know i think we as a society should baby youngtae more. he deserves to be cared for in a way more babying way than he currently is and im about to make it MY job. + minhee bc hes my younger brother-shaped bestie like hes my younger brother like hes not but he is but hes not but he is i havent like fully decided whether he is or not but like he is .

2. who do you most want to take care of you?

ok so this is like . like not to b me but like . Like literally anyone fr . like 85% of my bias list like . but the first thoughts whenever i tried to consider this were swoo / sik !! also they'd def do it in a v different way but also lino / chanhee

18. any groups where you have a hard time picking a bias at all?

hmmm i usually spot someone im interested in p quickly when i check out a group even if that person doesn't end up sticking? i maybe tend to like . branch out a lot more as time goes by so it's more of like . it's not that i'm struggling to pick a bias im just like actually slowly falling for everyone . . . but i usually am still mostly attached to like my earlier picks?? ik i switched between biases a lot in got7 & mx.... and i think i perhaps struggle more w ggs? but that's prob bc 1) i watch less content for them since 2) i think i may be trying to get less attached to them bc they like....idk if they actually statistically do but it feels like they tend to disappear and/or disband more often like ..? or maybe its post-pristin trauma

OH TBZ & SF9 (& up10tion to an extent) ... at this point i have literally biased almost all of them at some point ... sf9 feels like i settled more than tbz my tbz ranking will always be a mess idk whats going on w that like ever . ox are interesting because i HAVE a set in stone . set of biases that i feel V strongly about but like i do . like like a lot of the other members too sdbk

i feel like my favourite clip that i think about every single day of my life says it all actually . i don't like . is from Toronto and therefore ½ of Canadian and ⅓ of English line - so he’s obviously fluent in English!

really improved his dancing skills over the years and it shows (unofficial member of dance line, fight me cre.ker)

look, i get why that anon would be offended. i think it’s really great that you’d like to know more about what goes on behind the scenes in creating the stages, i definitely would’ve wanted to see more of that as well. but as a deobi i know that content will come in time, in their vlogs or vlives as they usually talk about that stuff after the broadcast. we know the drill, and that’s why it’s upsetting to see non stans saying stuff like that without seeing the full picture. most of the time that behind the scenes ideation process are only appreciated by stans, since non stans wouldn’t bother to look for it outside of what mnet shows.

i get that it’s an open space and everyone is allowed to have their opinions, but do be mindful of how you phrase things, esp if you’re going to tag tbz since it will obviously be deobis going through the tag for that filtered content. i’m not saying you’re at fault for voicing your opinions, but do take care about how your words could be misinterpreted. of course, that goes for both sides as well.

i’m thrilled that a non stan is curious about how our boys come up with their concepts and the creation process. if you’d like, i’ll be happy to link you to that content once it’s released. it really is a shame that mnet chooses not to show that for tbz and it might put them in a negative light, i agree with you on that.

But once again, as I also already said to other people, I wouldn't necessarily blame MNET for this immediately. I mean I've been long enough in kpop to know that mnet is problematic as hell, but I also know that fans are quick to blame everything on a big company and that's it. Tbz won rtk, and if mnet didn't want them to win, they wouldn't have won it ........... So I don't see why they now would purposely pull an evil editing on the group that won their previous show. It ain't even edited in the first place, it's literally just different content.

I don't think that tbz have anything to do with that, and I btw never said that tbz themselves had a saying in that, I just critisized that it is shown the way it is. I literally have no one to blame because like you and everyone else, I CAN'T know who's behind that decision and why. It's also possible that Cre.Ker decided on it, because they want the traffic on their own channel and not in MNET's show.

Also about the thing that only stans appreciate behind the scenes footage is pretty far-fetched I think? In this case it's really not a matter of stanning, it's just a matter of seeing what a group can create and how they do it. Nothing more and nothing less. So whoever took the decision that only stans will get to see that footage took a pretty shit decision in my eyes.

Now to what you said about mindfulness, I as a viewer of kingdom who does not watch each single individual content of each single group participating there, I expect that I get to see proper behind the scenes footage, regardless of the group, regardless of my liking for them (and again, I like tbz myself), I will say my opinion about what I get to see on that show. And let's all thank the internet for the fact that ya all stans can reply to my opinion, and tell me and other people that tbz will post content on the performances later on.

There's no need to dramatize the situation or get offended, because everyone can at any time comment their thoughts for everyone visible and "correct" my opinion or add their thoughts.

omg pls don’t apologize! reading everybody’s thoughts is honestly the best part of this show. i’ll just do bullet points replying to each part of your post 

yes I absolutely agree with what you said about having criteria for the judging. I saw someone talking about the rap stages and how it’s obvious that the judges would pick the mayfly team because it fits more into what you would expect from an idol rap stage and that how the it’s on team was much more of a classic rap stage and gave off more smtm vibes and while that’s fine, its not what this show is about. and i honestly get that perspective a lot, but if that’s how these judges are approaching these stages, then I think we as the audience need to know that. Because when I think rap stage, I’m not thinking “oh, a rap stage in the context of what idols would do (meaning something kind of flashy, something with maybe a story or through line, something that’s much more of a performance than just people rapping, which is what mayfly did)”. I’m literally just thinking, oh they’re going to rap. But if the judges are expecting something in line with idol rap that's more about performance than literally just rapping, then not only should we the audience know that, but the groups performing should know that too. It wouldn’t be fair to punish a group or unit for their interpretation of what the assignment was because you (mnet) didn’t provide any criteria beforehand.

mnet gave us those little snippets of the experts’ thoughts from round 1 but I think there should be more to it. plus, like I said, they haven’t shown us any of the feedback from these new judges yet aside from general praise post performance. hopefully they will after the vocal unit goes. but idk if they’re also judging for part 2 of round 3 as well so we’ll see 

i definitely think these groups are not thinking that deep about their rankings just like you said lmfaoo but I also think that’s kind of. bad, seeing as how seriously some of these groups are taking the results. it’s also a bit dismissive of the hard work that everybody’s putting into these performances if everyone is voting all lightheartedly. I expect that from fans because we’re just watching it and enjoying it. but when you have members of groups who are like, near tears because of a mistake they made or something, I would kind of expect the group evaluations to be taking a bit more seriously by the groups since they know what’s it’s like to put in all this effort and hope for good results. like in round 2 when tbz placed 6th because no one voted for them and they all looked like they were going to die. if the reality is that the other 5 groups were just like “oh yeah I thought skz was cool” or “I really respect eunkwang so i voted for btob” then that 6th place is gonna hurt even more. but yes you’re so right in that if mnet didn’t direct them to take this seriously and vote in a certain way, why would they? it’s just funny to me tho that they’re all kind of fanboying with each other and being like “wow its just great to see everybody and perform along side them” but then they’re also like dead serious about being number one every week. either we’re taking this seriously or we’re just vibing, which one is it, boys? only ikon seems to have decided to just vibe. and now maybe tbz too thankfully

idk if it was a vlive or something but bobby was talking about how he didn’t wanna do this stage at all and wanted chanwoo to do it instead because he was so busy lmfaooo. he did it so ikon could continue to rise in the ranks but he was just gonna be chill about it. but then when sunwoo and hwi were telling him how they don’t get to do rap stages bc of the kind of music their groups do and he saw how eager and excited they were, he was like oh i have to do well for them and he said seeing them be so eager made him remember that feeling too and i just think that was so sweet and such a genuine moment between the three of them. honestly, tbz sf9 and ikon teaming up was the best thing that probably could’ve happened on this show. atz and skz teaming up is, while not bad by any means, it’s just gonna be 4th gen stuff and we saw exactly that in their performances and how they prepped and stuff. minhyuk and peniel, while respected, definitely stuck out as the older ones amongst them. with its one team, i feel like bobby taught sunwoo and hwi so much in their time together by just being himself and i think donghyuk too was able to loosen up juyeon and taeyang a little bit. 

do not get me started on mnet’s camera work good lord. you’re right, they should’ve started with a closeup of the three kings’ hands as they crushed the glass and then pulled out into a wide. idk who these camera operators are but I feel like they’ve hurt many stages with their faulty shot choices. like in btob’s back door stage, there’s a part were peniel goes to get a water bottle so he can splash it on the camera but the shot is a wide so we can see peniel just. walk right over and it instantly breaks the illusion of the rock concert. and that could’ve been so easily hidden by cutting to a close up or mid shot of minhyuk or something. 

everything you said in that last paragraph, yes yes yes. I love dance so much and I love being able to see and understand story through nothing but movement. It’s genuinely incredible to see it happen. Mayfly team definitely stuck with the conventional 4th gen style of kpop dancing, which is fine because that’s what they’re good at and trained for, but it’s the same as always. and it really just felt like a cover of wolf with some added stunts and dance bits rather than a Dance Stage if that makes sense. Peniel’s krumping at least added a flair of something different. I saw someone say that they’ve had enough of the wolf concepts and honestly me too LOL. skz literally did it for their intro stage and I was like oh my god yeah they just did this. we can only be wolves for so long guys. i’m kind of super interested to know how they picked wolf of all things tho like. i can’t imagine how you hear “dance stage” and come to that conclusion at all as opposed to any other options. i don’t even think of wolf as a dance song i just think of the insanity of it and vocal line’s killer adlibs

i think it was because god's menu was released around the same bp and svt made their comebacks. same thoughts tho on gm > bd and i was also glad that bd got the wins gm didn't. and same with the streaming mvs while studying : ] ahh, the easily distracted people we are. i've heard chinese ballads (usually osts of films and from a chinese friend) and their songs really tend to tug on my heartstrings. i hope sm gives shotaro more stuff to do soon :[ with some of the units being active and sungchan being an mc on a weekly show, it makes me wonder what he's doing. do you think nct will form a new subunit?

no, i'm not lactose intolerant so it really took me by surprise. it was a one-time thing. hopefully it doesn't happen again. i can't really say i'm a big fan of ice cream but it's good occasionally yk as a treat to yourself. and ahhh, i miss drinking smoothies. my favorite stall has been closed for nearly two years now, idk if they ever re-opened since our city mall burned down :[

i think it's an nct thing? it's why i never get tired of them bc they're always active in a way. you should've seen how things went down last year! march 127 album, april dream mini-album, may 127 repackage, june wayv album and the whole nct 2020 thing. it was a wild year. about the track, i listened to it once and forgot about it. might give it a few more listens but it might not grow on me at all. yes! wasn't a big fan of hot sauce at first too bc i thought the intro was weird (not jaemin's part, like the first thing that plays). and yes, that hook loops in my head 24/7. i even made it my instagram bio.

stray kids world domination indeed! and i agree that their performances were really impressive (specially the deadpool one, best one yet) but sometimes i would fancy ateez' more. i didn't watch kingdom too bc it stressed me out as a multi. always caught between being happy for one group and being sad for the others. and atz and tbz! you're still getting into nct and you're thinking of adding 19 more boys! judging from what i know your taste in music is, i think you'll like tbz's music better since there are a lot more soft songs there than in atz. but do give both discographies a listen in the future!

oh izone! i've only heard of them at music shows and dance choreo compilations bc of them being in sync. they're really satisfying to watch! i thought their title tracks were catchy as well! quite unfortunate that i never got into them really. but again, i dont think i can handle stanning temporary groups.

same, actually! im not an atiny and dont stan any other group in the show besides skz but i watched each groups performance and ranked them haha. at times ateez would rank over skz, it was wild. also yeah, my other multi friend was freaking out about kingdom and ended up abandoning the show because she was so scared of the fanwars and having to deal with her 'conflicting feelings'. about the stanning thing, in my defense, i have a list of groups i want to stan and ive recently added tbz and atz. the list is long, i have a long way to go! also yeah, i dont prefer ateez's songs and i have a bunch of tbz title tracks in my playlist but if i approach their discography like i did with nct then i think i would like at least five songs.

izone are my queens. theres a reason why theyre the only girl group who made it to my ult list haha! super talented and filled with variety and visuals, a perfectly concocted group (literally, sobs in pd48 scandal). ah, temporary groups. yeah i cried about their disbandment for like 3 days straight, it was bad.
