Almost Wasted Trips
Today, we experienced an almost completely wasted trip -- all because Drew needs to file for unemployment, a driver's license, and to see his VA Rep.
We gathered everything we'd need, and I called the unemployment office, located in Toccoa, GA to insure we had all we'd need before making a 45 minute trip, using up a half a tank a gas. The receptionist was so kind to inform me that Drew will need a currently valid, government issued, photo ID in order to file.
Awhile back, we were in Norfolk, VA. Drew somehow lost his wallet (we're not sure how... he may have been pick-pocketed for all we know). The wallet had his license in it. We tried renewing online, but there was a problem, and Virginia had a list a mile long of everything one needed to do in order to obtain one of their licenses.
We went to Toccoa anyway, knowing there is a DMV there, very near the unemployment office. After an hour and 15 minute wait, we get to the counter. Upon being told Drew is a veteran expecting to receive a free license, the gentleman behind the counter asked if he had seen his VA Rep yet to ask about his eligibility for a free license... *face palm*
We left the DMV with no new license. Left Toccoa without filing unemployment. But not before getting some neat photos.
I just thought the second photo was funny... I'm always finding word-play photos. The first, one though -- there is apparently some history behind this caboose, though I don't know what exactly that history might be. It's been in this location for quite some time. I think it's rather special.
This month, I am gladly involved in a photo-a-day on Instagram. Today was the first day -- subject for the day -- Arches. I wanted to find something unique with some added character to it today. That's why going to Toccoa today was not entirely a wasted trip. The caboose fit the bill.
