You know, I've recently realized that when I say "Marichat is my favorite lovesquare dynamic," I mean something COMPLETELY different than when other people say it.

When other people say it, they mean they want Marichat to fall in love. They want them to kiss. They ship them. They want Chat dropping in on Marinette's balcony and having a semi-secret relationship.

That's wild to me. When I say it, I mean Marichat is my favorite pairing to watch AS THEIR DYNAMIC CURRENTLY EXISTS. The fact that they AREN'T in love is the fun part, and I don't want them to be! If we're talking about SHIPS my fav is probably Ladynoir.

But Marichat is great at showing the potential these two have as BEST FRIENDS. They're both sassy, and they're both sweethearts, and they're both overdramatic and they get along RIDICULOUSLY well. To the degree that it's like. Freaky to their friends. Chat shows up and he stops Marinette from tripping over something and he's like "Hello Princess! I know I'm charmeowing but there's no need to fall for me" and Marinette is like "Chat you're a dork <3," and Chat is like "You know you love me," and everyone else is like "Marinette that is a whole SUPERHERO" and Marinette is like "He's literally just a girl," and Chat is like "I'm literally just a girl."

In the other dynamics, they have their awe and lovestruckness getting in the way of just being silly with each other. But as Marichat? There's no putting the other one on a pedestal, so they're just unserious besties 100% of the time, and that's what makes it COMPELLING.

In my ideal version of the show, there's like. 10 MariChat episodes pre-reveal and they never show the slightest "wow you're so impressive" behavior they show in their other dynamics. It's always just like "Heh, you're cute and silly," and everyone is like. . ."Does Marinette have a thing for Chat Noir??? Does Chat Noir have a thing for Marinette?!?!?!"

And like, technically yes, but as MariChat it is 100% just them being chaotic besties who encourage each other's nonsense. I don't wanna say there's no attraction, but there's no CRUSHING. They are so incapable of taking each other seriously. And then when the reveal happens they're both like "Ok, I get how I fell for you, cuz I KNOW you're a 10, but HOW IS THIS THE LOSER (AFFECTIONATE) I FELL FOR?!?!" Keep your "wow they're so cool and amazing" OUT of my MariChat please and thank you!

(I also think this is why an identity reveal is necessary to me before they get together. I cannot do pre-reveal Maribug/Adrichat, it DOESN'T work for me. They have to know that they're secretly awed by their bestie and that their perfect crush is secretly a loser before either of them is mentally capable of having a real relationship).

my seniors have been so quiet all year and it’s been fine cause we’ve had a lot of writing/research to do but I need them to talk to me now so i was hit by a bolt of inspiration two days ago and I made them all tell me their comfort level with sharing aloud, rating themselves on a scale of 1-10. I then averaged the class score and they’re a 4.5. I then told them yesterday we needed to raise the score the tiniest bit. And the 1’s and 2’s didn’t need to be 10’s just maybe 3’s and 4’s. And they tried! They talked more 😭

Also just the fact he was so much younger than the other scientists like. I feel like other people were almost jealous that he got in so much earlier than they did, or felt like Black Mesa was "just hiring anybody" at that point. felt he didn't deserve to be there.

Pretty much the only scientists (that gordon hung around) that didn't act that way towards him were Eli and Kleiner. Barney and Gordon actually bonded over both of them feeling like they're looked at weirdly by other employees, though I will say Barney and the other guards get the brunt of the disrespect, along with Maintenance workers. (LITERAL blue collar workers in the security team's case)
