It just dawned on me that I never posted this here. Better late then never, right? ^^;

So anyway, this is how Tosca looked back when she was still a young Pichu living in Viridian Forest with her mother. Due to her dad being an Eeveelution, she actually used to have a small Eevee-like neck ruff that ended up going away once she evolved. Due to being a mixed breed in a forest full of normal purebred Pikachu, Tosca was often a target for harassment by the other inhabitants as they saw her and her mother as a couple of freaks. While gathering berries for her sick mother, Tosca ended up being attacked by a Pidgeotto that she successfully managed to fight off on her own, the excitement from the win causing her to evolve on the spot. Sadly, that happiness was short-lived as Tosca quickly ran back home to show her mother, only to find that she had succumbed to her illness and died.

(tho I'm still suck at coding so I only do this with wizard skin and ccs template (?). Dunno how to change/recolor the buttons. Also design is (not) my passion but I think I like this one.)

The color was actually based on my OCs' (Setsuna and Kana) color images! But again; I have no sense in design (lmfao) and tbh I like purple color more than green/tosca.

(I can make an excuse like Setsuna loves Kana so much that she looks her as her world—so that's why purple colors are dominating the skin. Lol)

And from Tuscany, no less!

They're named after a valley there.

Okay so the reason that's funny is because the country Féa and Faye are from I've named Tosca, after an Italian opera (that is nonetheless based on a novel by a French author but never mind that for now) and it sounds phonetically similar to Tuscany as well. So in my mind, those two are definitely Italian.

And now I discover that the type of cattle I'm using for the design of my third OC is also from there, the same region even? Incredible.

Anyway, considering Sonata was adopted at a young age, it doesn't really matter where she was born. Why was she given up for adoption? Doesn't really matter. There was a fairly recent civil war in Tosca but the timeline wouldn't really add up. Sonata has made her peace with the adoption and isn't interested in finding her birth parents, she just wants to get her PhD.

Something else funny about chianina cattle is that even though their coat is white, it's supposedly more of a reddish brown when they're younger, which works out for me, since Sonata is supposed to have rust-colored hair. Maybe she's just going to go grey very early on. Actually, knowing her, she's going to be completely grey by age 30.

Does Miska have a crew? Is he a captain??

No! well, yes, kind of!

Miska's goal is to learn the history of songs he knows (and learn new ones too!), so he hops around crews as a temporary member and makes friends in as many places as he can. (I got carried away and made a whole relationship web to showcase this LOL).

I made him this way because I love thought experiments and it gives me a lot of wiggle room to consider like, "What if he met so-and-so, how would they interact?", "How would it go if he joined this crew for a while?" etc. It's fun!!!!

Reminds me of the Rezillo Ryker situation with the Rexouium.

STORY TIME

Rezillo Ryker is the name of an avatar creator for VRChat. They're most famous (arguably) for creating the Rexouium avatar model, which is the #1 most popular model among the furry community on VRChat because of it's extremely high versatility. It can be made to look like almost any species.

What species it CAN'T look like are very few and far between, and the majority of common OC species are under the umbrella of "could be this!"

So it's no wonder the Rex also has the highest number of clothing items made for it by other creators. It's the most popular model, so making plenty of options for it means more money in other creators pockets.

As a result, the Rex is, by far, the most common model you'll see.

What does any of this have to do with the whole "creators, don't think you can control the fandom" stuff above?

Well you see, VRChat is a safe haven for those who need an escape from the real world. There is a massive amount of LGBT users, and a massive amount of furry users, and one thing a lot of people use VRChat for is to get some semblance of connection, social or physical, that they can't get irl.

Which means there's a LOT of people having virtual NSFW interactions on there. Entire custom worlds dedicated to it, even.

And Rezillo Ryker, dogwater of a dude he is, has certain opinions.

One being that Ryker, a cishet male, has very strong opinions AGAINST the lgbt.

The other being that Ryker, a puritan d-bag, has very strong opinions against people using his avatar for nsfw of any kind.

And so he publicly stated these things, that he absolutely hated that his work had been "appropriated" by the "trannies and gays", and that he absolutely hated that people were using his avatar for sex and they should stop it, because he didn't want his creation "ruined" by it.

Which prompted three things to happen.

The rex became the most hated model in the community, to the point if someone sees you wearing one, there's a 50/50 chance they'll announce to the world that you support Ryker

creators who formerly ONLY created clothing assets to match the Rex model suddenly started making clothing for other models, AND some even went as far as to make THEIR OWN VERSION of the rex model from scratch, AND BETTER THAN RYKER DID, to give people an alternative that didn't support him

people who had recently bought rex models started doing chargebacks and insisting on refunds, which cost him a pretty penny.

He's since gone and apologized for his "insensitive words", which is fancy damage-control-speak for "Sorry you got offended, I still mean what I said, but I should have said it nicer so you guys didn't realize what an ass I was"

He took an active step towards trying to control the fandom, and it backfired so hard that now there's the Tosca Rex, Digi-Rex, Neoxouium, Evo Rex, and more, all by people who legitimately support the lgbt, or are actual members OF the lgbt, and serve as higher-quality alternatives to the original rexouium.

The man tried to control his fandom and lost it entirely as a result.

Just a fun little thing that can happen to people who try to grip too tightly to their fans, and try to force their morals on a crowd that would be actively hurt by those morals were they enforced by law.

some of you really aren’t gonna like this, but a creator’s wishes should never dictate what fan content is produced for a piece of media.

in the past, authors like anne rice have tried to limit the production of fanfiction. but at least rice was honest - she thought this infringed on her copywrite. back in the day, this was considered a valid argument to not create any fanfiction at all for her works.

do you understand what i’m saying? while you may sound valiant for placing a creator’s “discomfort” above the fan’s natural proclivities in fandom, really you’re just continuing to advocate for censorship in fan spaces.

and for anyone who is a creator, or who wants to become one - get comfortable with the rules of the internet. there will be erotic content made of your characters, there will be weird AUs made with your characters. there will be strange pairings and headcanons, no matter if you interact religiously with the fans or not. you cannot stop people from connecting with and wanting to be creative with your characters.

EDIT: I'm a dumb-dumb and forgot that the back paws on female Shinx are colored blue. Fixed them.

A while back, I had a dream where my Pikachu OC Tosca looked after an orphaned lion. I of course had to draw a new OC based off of that, so she and Wesley have two kids now. 😁

Cheche is a wild Shinx that Tosca's trainer Cole found while heading home from his grandfather's house one cold winter day. She was found on Route 38 being chased by a very large and aggressive Raticate (which was how she got the scar on her right front leg) which Tosca was able to drive off with her Thunderbolt attack. Nearby they found her deceased mother who appeared to have died from starvation. Luxrays were rarely seen in the Johto region, and it was even rarer to see a wild one that was all alone without a pack. Since she had a wound that needed to be treated, Cole captured her so that he could take her to the nearest Pokemon Center to be healed.

Since she had lost her mother, Cole decided to keep and look after Cheche. She was very timid and skittish at first, the complete opposite of how a Shinx usually behaves, but she soon adjusts to her new environment and forms a close bond with her savior, Tosca. Having lost her own mother in a similar fashion, Tosca completely understood what she was going through and assured Cheche that everything would be okay and that she would have a good home here with Cole and his other Pokemon. Cheche ends up seeing Tosca and her mate Wesley as her new parents and also becomes very close with their single son. She eventually evolves into a Luxray under Cole's care and is occasionally used in rotation on his team in competitive battles.
