In case anyone needs a reminder…

Being transgender does not make you intersex.

Going through HRT does not make you intersex. Surgery cannot make you intersex.

Intersex people are born with atypical variations of physical, biological sex characteristics. That is what makes someone intersex.

Perisex trans people (especially on Reddit) have been recently insisting that just being transgender makes you intersex, and therefore able to speak over intersex people on issues that specifically affect us, especially when it comes to dangerous and offensive terminology. This is not true.

Also the idea that you can somehow “make yourself intersex” is untrue. You can make your body more androgynous through things like hormone treatment and surgery, but that does not make you intersex.

Falsely claiming intersex identity based on these things isn’t *always* malicious (though it is often done to speak over us) but it is always harmful.

Actually crazy how if you so much as even breathe in the direction of supporting transmascs as a transfem how many people (cis people, transmascs, transfems, literally anybody) will crawl out of the woodworks to scream that you, “will never understand transmisogyny,” are “privileged,” are “being a whiny TME,” are being a “typical man,” are “speaking over women,” etc., without even considering the possibility that you might be transfem.

A lot of you genuinely believe intersex liberatuon comes second hand to trans liberation and that trans people matter more. Intersex oppression is just an additive to trans oppression and shouldn't be a main focus. And I'm getting sick of it. I am sick of intersex people trying to make ignorant peritrans people listen just to be met with a bs analysis of oppression about how we "all suffer" so it [intersex oppression] doesn't really matter.

Perisex trans people need to realize intersex people are a minority in their own right and the oppression we face is not transphobia misdirected.

Whenever I see stuff about ‘trans men shouldn’t be able to say the f slur’ I just think about the time when I was 14 and got asked to homeschool prom by a straight guy 2 years older than me from the southern Baptist church I was raised in after he told me I was a third choice because every other girl he asked rejected him and then he proceeded to spend the entire night calling me a faggot behind my back whenever he got the chance to anyone that would listen. So yeah actually. As a trans man who’s been called a fag more than once I’ll say I’m a fag if I want too.

i need well meaning cis people to stop attemping to steelman trans healthcare conversations because it basically always ends with them just lying about easily checkable things "no minors are getting irreversible treatments" wrong not true "no minors are having surgery" also false, like instead just say the truth: currently some minors (few, but some) are able to access hrt that will have some irreversible changes on their body, some (even fewer) minors are able to access surgery.

the counter to transphobes screaming "these kids are being irreversibly changed" isn't "no children are accessing this care" it's "puberty is also an irreversible change" and "i think under 18s and even under 16s should be able to make medical decisions actually"

"no minors are accessing this care" means that transphobes can easily point to the examples of minors who are accessing that care, which just make us look like liars. sometimes teenagers and children need to make medical choices on their own. i think a 14 y/o should be able to get an abortion. i think trans kids and teens should be able to have the approriate care, which for some will just be like, picking a new name or haircut, and for some, sure, could be surgery.
