for @womenintransformers day 1: Favorite
I chose my favorite member of Victorion, Jumpstream! I love the Torchbearers and their colorscheme a lot. Her teleporting ability is so fun.

Title: Patience Rewarded Fandom: IDW2 Ship: Pyra Magna/Jumpstream Word Count: 100 Rating: G Summary: Even after two thousand kilocycles, Jumpstream still attracts the same stares. A/N: For TF Femslash February's prompt "devotion"! I hesitated to repeat a character so soon but IDW2 Jumpstream is different enough from her IDW1 counterpart that I can roll with it. While you're here, consider donating to Care for Gaza.
.
When she'd first appeared publicly in her General's colors, the attention had been fit to crush her. Being so seen was new, was disconcerting, was exhausting-- but it was the only way anymore for Pyra Magna to be seen and so Jumpstream wore the paint like she wore her loyalty. Chin up, shoulders back, meeting every optic that was turned on her.
The looks changed as time passed; commiseration, curiosity and disgust all blended into pity. She could feel it as she picked through the debris of the tetherfall.
It was the last thing that mattered when she heard--

You know something I enjoy about Skywarp's teleportation across different continuities is that it's rarely the same. The mechanics of his teleportation vary in nearly every continuity, and there are different limits to how it works. In G1, for example, it’s portrayed as a sharp purple flash, accompanied by a distortion of time and space, as Skywarp is able to teleport in an instant. Kind of confused why he doesn't use it that much.
Tumblr media
The same appears to be the case in both IDW1 and Shattered glass.
In IDW2 it does appear to seem as though Skywarp can create portals to facilitate his teleportation, though this doesn't appear to be a necessity, as he can simply warp without forming a portal. In this continuity, his teleportation is depicted with a golden hue, and it leaves behind a trail of what looks like mystical smoke (or something similar) as he disappears. I kind of like how much he uses his teleportation in this continuity to be a menace not gonna lie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Skybound, Skywarp only uses his teleportation once, but it’s a pretty cool twist. Instead of just teleporting to another spot, he creates these mini portals or disks that stay in place. He then reaches through them to mess with Optimus. The teleportation has a green hue here, which makes for a pretty neat iteration of his powers because imagine if he can use it to just steal important weapons or stuff like that without even trying to move. On paper it's less riskier than actually teleporting there himself. And funnier ngl.
Tumblr media
Then there’s Earthspark, where his- or her teleportation is really something..... In this version, her teleportation is ridiculously fast, almost like lightning itself. The whole thing happens so quickly that it looks like she literally transforms into lightning, streaking across the space with this red glow. It’s almost like she’s not even teleporting in the traditional sense; she’s just zipping through reality so fast that she becomes a bolt of lightning, visually it looks pretty great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But at the same time something I love about giving a charecter a pretty overpowered ability like this is as usual it usually comes with a fair share of drawbacks. Or rules that pertain how it functions.
In the Aligned Continuity, or the pre canon TFP novels, Skywarp’s teleportation has this limitation. He has to plan out his destination at least five seconds before jumping, or else he could end up teleporting somewhere completely random, which could be pretty disastrous according to him. Starscream took advantage of this weakness to set him up,which ended up getting him killed. This version of Skywarp’s ability really relies on him being able to think ahead and stay grounded, because if he tries to teleport on the fly, he’s basically gambling with his own life
Tumblr media
However, other continuities don’t seem to have this same limitation. For instance, in Earthspark, Skywarp is shown teleporting randomly to different locations within the span of just a second. Her limitation in this version, though, is that she can’t warp through solid objects, which means if she's trapped in a room with no way out—she’s effectively cornered.
Tumblr media
Then there's IDW1 Skywarp—though I wouldn’t really call this a limitation- as this happened due to an incident rather than it always being inherently present, but when he gets stabbed by Arcee during a jump, he loses control over his physical form. He essentially becomes incorporeal, existing almost like a ghost, and has to struggle to keep himself anchored in reality. Messing with space time kind of does that I suppose.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IDW2 Skywarp went through something somewhat similar. He attempted to teleport all the way to Cybertron after he was banished, but ended up getting caught in unspace, where he was trapped for thousands of years. He eventually managed to latch onto Jumpstream and escape, only to be thrown right back into unspace in the end, low-key karma since he was pretty much just changing allegiances on merry whim just to have fun(valid), but also sucks for him. Honestly, a miracle he didn't completely lose his mind after all that time alone- then again he probably did. Unspace was to my knowledge mostly accessible by teleporters such as Skywarp and Jumpstream in this continuity.
So, the moral of the story is—teleportation is fun, but also kind of sucks, at least for Skywarp. Seriously, why are G1 and Earthspark the only shows where he actually gets to teleport? It’s literally in his name—just let him teleport already, I beg of you!

While I'm okay with genderswapping Transformers in shows to better balance gender ratios, I do wish that wasn't apparently the first resort for writers once they've grabbed Arcee, Elita-1, and/or Windblade instead of just... Using one of the many female Transformers that already exist.
Other female characters I want to see animated:
Tumblr media
Autobot Road Rage, my tippy top pick. She is so cool and sexy.
Tumblr media
Decepticon Spacewarp. She's a deep space explorer that has lots of different adventures and finds herself questioning the Decepticon cause.
Tumblr media
Megaempress and the Four Guards. For the love of all things good, please pull a Ruckley and write these ladies something decent because the Unite Warriors comics are terrible with them.
Tumblr media
Autobot Javelin, sharpshooter and warrior! She has a really cool design and I think there are some really interesting ways you can take her character, especially if you bounce off the IDW2 story where she's traumatized from getting a head injury in combat!
Tumblr media
Decepticon sleeper agent Flip Side. I want to see a dedicated story arc based off of her story with Blaster and how she deals with realizing her life was a lie.
Tumblr media
Pyra Magna and the Torchbearers/Rust Renegades. While Victorion showed up in the Prime Wars trilogy, the separate components didn't seem to do so. I think either story from IDW1 or IDW2 would be fantastic story to explore in an animated story!
What female characters who've never been animated (or perhaps showed up for maybe 5 seconds) would you like to see?

Elita-1 and Lugnut from the Earth Wars Mobile Game
Pyra Magna: Elita... help us! The Prime Core's bleeding us dry of energy! Life support systems... failing...
Jumpstream: Get... us... out... of... here...
Lugnut: You have a choice, Elita-1. Fight me and maybe grab the Prime Core... Or save the Rust Renegades.
Elita-1: Looks to me like you've got the exact same choice, Lugnut - the Core or the Stunticons.
Lugnut: Ha! That's no choice at all. I would gladly give my life for Megatron and they should do no less. Farewell, Motormaster, you'll be remembered... As a footnote, maybe.
Motormaster: You... miserable... jumped-up... I'll- Unhhh...
Elita-1: Without the Core, Optimus Prime may die. But... he'd never forgive me... never! Not if others paid the price for his life!
Pyra Magna: H-Hurry... we're running on fumes here!
Lugnut: Tick, tock, Elita... Time's running out for your Rusty Regenades. While my eyes are on the prize!
Elita-1: Optimus... I'm sorry...
Lugnut: Haw! This is like taking cyber candy from a protoform! The Prime Core is mine... all mine! In the name of glorious Megatron, naturally!
Elita-1: Hang on, Rust Renegades - I'm coming. Tow cable away! I'm going to haul you clear of the danger zone... one at a time.
Motormaster: Lug... nut... come... back. Don't... leave... us...
Dead End: Too... late... boss. He's as good as gone. They... all... left us... to rust...
Motormaster: No! Never! I may be critically low on energy, but I got reserve tanks full'a rage! I'm... gettin' us out of here! An' when I do... they're all gonna pay! Lugnut and the Renegades!
Megatron: Lugnut - you have done well. I am pleased. Unlike some of my underlings... You do not fail me!
Starscream: Pah! Creep!
Megatron: Keep the Prime Core, Lugnut. You will be my... talisman. With you at my side, no force on Earth will lay me low again.
Lugnut: This... This is the most glorious day of my existence!
Elita-1: Optimus, I'm sorry, I... failed you.
Optimus: (shaking head) No, Elita. You remained true to the ideals we both hold dear. Thank you.
Jetfire: Optimus! I've been experimenting with the Prime Core that Hound recovered. When supplied with the energy signatures Elita-1 experienced on her mission...
Optimus: Short version, Jetfire.
Jetfire: Don't say your goodbyes just yet, Optimus. We have a cure!
...All I could picture at the end there when Elita-1 and Optimus were spouting the very Autobot duty, responsibility, sacrifice thing:
Tumblr media
Also I firmly believe transformers can feel all emotions and I'm a shipper, but I kind of love Elita-1, Optimus, and Lugnut being seen as like... abnormal for their romantic feelings LMAO

The Prime of His Youth: Book VI: Spark of Animus: Ch16: To Boldly Go
Arcee transformed with Roxana and Arcelia right beside her.
Pyra Magna walked up with Jumpstream, Dust Up, and Rust Dust. "I am Pyra Magna, first lieutenant to His Prime." She then transformed, and the others did as well.
"Hop on." Arcee stated, while Lolita looked on nervously. Daniel simply glared. "Look, you'll see why it has to be motorbikes. And we've spent enough time around Humans. There are helmets under the seats, and we won't drive in a way that is even slightly dangerous."
"Can I ride the trike?" George asked, as he walked up to Arcelia, and eagerly looked at his parents.
"My name is Arcelia." she replied.
"Can I ride Arcelia?" George eagerly asked his parents.
"She's the second most stable." Arcee stated, "After Pyra Magna, herself."
Lolita stepped over to Pyra Magna, Alina and Nina following her, while Elly walked over to Arcee. "Hop on." Arcee simply stated.
Daniel nodded at George and looked about.
"Ride the cheerleader." Arcee stated.
"Ride me!" Roxana exclaimed.
Daniel glared at the pink motorcycle.
"Too pink?" Arcee asked, and he turned to glare at her. "Try Rust Dust, she does have a rocket launcher."
"Recoilless rifle." Rust Dust stated.
"Whatever that is." Arcee added.
Daniel walked over to Rust Dust, and Rust Dust briefly shook.
"What's up?" Arcee asked.
"He... he chose me?!" Rust Dust asked.
"Have fun." Arcee replied.
"You do have an anti-tank gun." Jumpstream said to her.
* * *
The convoy briefly passed through the Great Mall and onto the highways. They drove along until they came to a turn off.
* * *
The convoy drove along until they stopped in front of what looked like a row house, sandwiched between the upper and lower decks. The family started to dismount and move towards it. Once George was clear, Arcelia transformed into Dollform, barely below the ceiling as it narrowed into the house.
"That's why it has to be Femmes." Arcee stated, and transformed into Dollform herself. "My husband calls it Dollform, and we could spend all day explaining how it works." She said and paused, "If we knew how it worked."
Arcelia stepped up to the front door and turned to Daniel, "I'll need your HumEn signature to key you to the door."
Daniel walked up and paused, before holding his hand out to her.
* * *
The family walked into the house, and it seemed a perfectly ordinary house. If the walls were not made of an unknown substance and seemed to throb with energy.
* * *
The family stepped out of the house.
Arcee transformed, "Let's roll." she stated. Arcelia transformed.
"And I get to show the girls around." Roxana excitedly stated.
* * *
Arcee stopped in front of a nondescript door. Daniel got off and walked towards it.
* * *
Daniel Lyman walked out on the gantry into the command centre. He noticed the colossal stations below him, along with the seemingly tiny ones in the Human section. Japheth walked up to the gantry, with Arcee walking in a door and walking over. "Welcome to the Command Centre." Japheth said, and gestured to the well poised man walking up, "This is His Grace, Dux of Orion."
"Dux?" Lyman asked, as he looked at him, "Does that mean I can be a knight?"
"Yes." Japheth stated, "Both literally, and the Warrior caste comes with the right to bear arms."
"My name is Magnus Alfred, but He demands I be referred to as Your Grace."
"And this is supposed to recruit me?" Lyman asked.
"I do not - lie." Japheth simply stated. "I want to create my own Rangers. As you've seen from my ship, at all levels of it is designed to be used by Humans."
"A gift?" Lyman asked.
"I know how powerful Humans are." Japheth stated, "A large Human city can have a population of millions. The largest Cybertronian cities, even back in the Golden Age, had a population in the thousands. Cybertronians might live for aeons, but our progress takes just as long. The cities on Cybertron are roughly equivalent to ancient mesopotamia in the terms of social development."
"So, you want us to uplift you?" Lyman asked.
"There are not enough Cybertronians alive to man this ship." Japheth replied. "Shockwave accomplished 10,000 years of research in 5 years, BEFORE his upgrade. Oh, and small piece of advice, you can't save the world, just a small piece at a time."
"Says the man who's fought Unicron." Lyman voiced.
"That's a long story." Japheth dismissed, and Lyman gave him a curious look.
"I told you you wouldn't believe Him." Fowler said as he walked up.
"General William Fowler." Lyman strongly said.
"Retired, just like Col. Daniel Lyman." Fowler said with a bright smile.
"So, you really think this is a good idea?" Lyman asked.
"Look," Fowler stated, "Japheth and I go way back. Back to when he was Human. Back before Terra's First Rangers. I'm the one that taught him how to shoot. He even wanted to make me immortal, but..."
"An eternity of paperwork?" Lyman said with a smile
"So, his pitch was pretty simple."
"No paperwork?" Lyman neutrally asked.
"He wants us to train His Rangers." Fowler stated.
Lyman turned his head to give Japheth a questioning look, "Train them to do what?"
"Defend the ships?" Japheth asked, "It would kind of defeat the point of infantry to make you mechanized, but you could disappear into the woods, and be invisible to Cybertronian scanners."
"You want commandos?" Lyman asked.
"Royal Marine Commandos." Japheth stated, "But space-based."
"Sp..." Lyman tried to say.
"Do not call them Space Marines." Japheth interupted, and Lyman simply stopped. "If for no other reason than the Mobile Infantry are stronger."
Lyman gave Japheth a curious look before turning to Fowler. "Of course it was me." Fowler replied. He then turned to Japheth, "And who do you think got me to read it?"
"I have all of the time in the world." Japheth said with a smile, "The Dux will be heritary, because I can flit away 20 years without realizing it. There will also be knights. The sons of knights will be esquires, which have some priviledges, but being a knight has to be earned."
"And the knights will - lead the rangers?" Lyman asked.
"Hopefully." Japheth stated, "Warrior caste has free agency."
Lyman looked down as he thought this over. He then looked back up, "Alright, I'm interested, but what do I get out of this?"
Japheth sighed.
"That's not how the Cybertronian economy works." Magnus stated, and Lyman immediately glared at him, "Payment is in Energon, and you get paid based off your caste."
"So, that's how I'd retired?" Lyman said.
"Or you can retire on Caminus." Fowler stated, "They are setup to deal with retiring Humans."
"That is if you do not want to remain on Orion." Magnus stated.
"I could - what?" Lyman asked.
"Orion will be a generation ship." Magnus stated, "Food production is completely self-sustaining. Other than meat. Whenever we are in port, people can leave, and we can recruit, but there could easily be 20 years between this."
Lyman looked distant as he thought it over. He looked back up at Japheth, "So, I would have a permanent right to bear arm, not have to worry about finances for the rest of my life, and retire whenever I feel like it?"
"Almost." Japheth stated, "I hope you're not going to retire before the first batch of Rangers are trained."
"What, a year?" Lyman asked, and Japheth shrugged. "I will trust you two to decide when they are ready. But, that said, I hope after you retire, you could remain on as an adviser."
Lyman looked distant as he thought it over. "I'll have to ask my family."
"He says that, but he knows what they are going to say." Fowler excitedly said.
"You should have seen how excited George was to ride Ciel." Arcee added.
"Your son will get to grow up learning to fire every firearm kids have ever dreamed of." Fowler stated, "Including firearms that most Humans have never heard of."
"Alright!" Lyman stated, "But I'm still talking to my..."
* * *
George literally jumped up and down as Daniel asked them.
"Girls?" Lolita asked.
"Seek out new worlds and new cilizations?" Alina asked.
"Can I be an officer?" Elly asked.
"You can try out." Daniel replied, "What did you have in mind?"
"Science officer?" Elly asked.
"We do have a lot of - formerly - mad scientists." Arcee stated, and Lyman gave her an accusing look, "What?" she asked, "Some people joined the wrong side because of flexible ethics. They've come a long way, once Japheth showed them the right way. Now all of our science is ethical."
"Rather than being like Star Trek, where you have one science officer," Arcelia interjected, "We have as many skilled scientists as we can recruit."
"And trust to not blow themselves up..." Arcee uttered, and Daniel looked at her, "Or everyone else."
"That sounds more like engineering?" Lyman asked.
"Uh-huh?" Arcee asked, "Don't care. There are plenty of eggheads to talk to."
"What field were you the most interested in?" Arcelia asked, kneeling down in front Elly.
"I, um?" Elly asked.
"Why don't we talk to all of them?" Arcelia asked, and Elly looked excited. Arcelia then looked at the other girls, "And, the others?" she asked.
"Let's get used to the ship, first." Alina stated.
"Does this mean I have to go back to school?" Nina asked.
"Not really." Arcee stated, and kneeled down, "You're the same age Jack was when He became a Prime." She then stood back up, "And besides, with patriarchy, women don't have to work if they don't want to. We get to be housewives." she said proudly.
"Never understood the concept." Pyra Magna stated, "But it seems to work well for Humans."
"Are we going to get our own motorcycles?" Daniel asked.
Pyra Magna shrugged, "The ethics of Vehicons is still in debate. But, there is a public transit system, which Ciel can help you with."
