It's been a really long time since I wrote anything, and... I decided to make my grand comeback by writing a fic based on Transformers: Alternators. Why? I dunno.

A quick synopsis:

It is the year 2005, the Decepticons have long since been defeated. The Autobots have established them on earth and are living in peace and prosperity...

...That is, until Shockwave arrives from Cybertron and attempts to reignite the war.

had 2 map this 2 get out of head, orange is stuff that we basically/actually know, black arrows r speculation. this head design map of Arcee only goes up to 2018 & doesnt cover everything. amazed that Blackarachnia is part of this & roots of prime arcee r basically unknown afaik!

would love to know whats going on with prime arcee's lil' upper cheek guard stubs that are like idw1 arcee's but hidden under her pointy cheek guard ridges. she also shares the chin armor that binaltech arcee & art of war #5 arcee were 1st to have followed by idw1 & animated 'cee.

notably, we weren't able to fit Classics, Prime, and Wings Flamewar onto this or anyone else based on the energon and prime molds (besides Elita who shares her mold with SG Arcee)

Picked up this guy on Ebay. I never had any Alternators as a kid, but they've always interested me for the detailed alt-modes based on real cars, and Ravage especially for having a nonhumanoid robot mode.

Let's celebrate cooler temps (finally) with the coolest Autobot, BLASTER, in October's @tfwiki Patreon pic batch! Kicking off with his first new body, from Takara's Binaltech Asterisk! "Broadblast" turns into a 1:24-scale Scion xB and comes with human pilot/partner Lumina!

Speaking of odd altmodes, Blaster tended to get redecoed from Soundwaves for a bit, such as this 2008 Universe redeco of Cybertron Soundwave! On the other hand, he comes with the Mini-Con Blockrock, who is cool and needs to come back in tape form.

We got some fun mini-Blasters too. The Kre-O Blaster Kreon came in a big SDCC "Kreon Class of '85" 30-pack. Delightful.

A tiny Twincast (his rebuilt form from Japan's Headmasters series) came with Masterpiece Road Rage.

Speaking of Twincast, Titans Return Titan Master TWIN CAST is not technically Blaster, but a whole different bot. But he becomes part of Blaster, transforming into the larger toy's head! Said larger toy has a flip-over helmet to complete the Blaster look.

Of course there had to be an evil Shattered Glass version of Blaster. A shrieking, tightassed, sadistic conductor-bot with a bad attitude and worse accent. One of my favorite bots to write for. This Shattered Glass Collection version uses the Kingdom Blaster mold.

Speaking of Kingdom Blaster, let's knock that one out, as well as the Legacy: Evolution Twincast redeco! This is actually the first Hasbro toy to use the Twincast colors; all the others only came out in Japan. Had to happen sometime!

It is at this point I've run out of Blaster toys we need new pics of (there's more needed, but I ain't got 'em, most of them are various versions of the original toy anyway), so let's got with ACTUAL ROCK BOTS. It's Infernac Universe Nucleous and Geocron, from Legacy: United! Chunky!

Transformers Multiversity - Alternators - Autobot Skids - Function: Theoretician - A highly intelligent daydreamer, Skids considers all of earth his laboratory. He often finds himself having to slam on his brakes while in vehicle mode to avoid running an unnoticed red light, or even rear ending another car. Skids received a new Binaltech form purely as an upgrade. His new advanced body contains self-repair and regenerative functions, as well as "nanomechanical antibodies". Barring damage from battle, his new Binaltech frame is designed to last several thousand years. Because of his exceptionally high intelligence, large memory capacity and advanced scanning capabilities, Skids was chosen as a member of the Temporal Threat Countermeasures Team, he was to head "Operation Distant Thunder". A plan to reverse the changes made to the space time continuum by Ravage.

As far as I can tell? Yup! Well-known characters who show up a lot tend to die from time to time, depending on how edgy the writer is or if the writer is told to push new characters for toys. Cliffjumper is not unique in this regard.

so happy to have a deluxe sized 4.7 inch tall galvatron (goleatron) who is nearly the same height of our idw1 arcee custom (the head was designed by @doomspoons.bsky.social you can download an stl here pluralsword.itch.io/idw1-arcee-h... ), they look so cute.

we deeply enjoyed seeing the height difference in idw1 & equally appreciate the story reason for why, we just also enjoy seeing arcee remain nearly same height as her sibling with the body she reformats to for gender affirming reasons- amusingly binaltech arcee is at height with leader wfc galvatron. We have made a voyager sized arcee via an arcana magnus custom from legacy bulkhead some years ago, we want to find a leader scale figure besides galvy to do her from, gonna repaint both with reaperminipaints eventually so she's easier to transform

Technically my first series was G1, but I wasn't allowed to watch it was discouraged from watching it because "it's too violent." I probably would have loved it, but since it was not permitted it just didn't make an impression.

My first real series was Beast Wars. It was on when I'd get home from class, and I'd watch it while making myself lunch/dinner (depending on my schedule). I adored it, and would definitely have stuck around for Beast Machines if the station hadn't started dicking around with the time slot. I ended up missing a bunch of episodes and lost the plot thread, and thus lost interest.

🤍- Fav Neutral or Obscure Character?

I'm tempted to say Bluestreak (since he hasn't had an important role in anything since (checks notes) Angry Birds vs Transformers holy FUCK am I salty about that), but I know he's not obscure. XD

So I'll have to go with either Road Rage (who did have a pretty important part in IDW2), or Devcon (who hasn't been in anything of note since G1). They're both cool characters with a lot of potential imo, and I love what Ruckley did with Road Rage in IDW2. :)

Ooh! I LOVE the whole story/idea behind what happened to Smokescreen in Binaltech!

See, they develop this tech to allow one spark/laser core to control multiple bodies. Most Autobots use them to prevent their death (having everything saved to a "backup" body) but Smokescreen used it to control multiple bodies at once! Each body would have its own experiences, then they'd come back and synch back up and share memories.

Only one time there was a problem with the synch, and his mind fractured into multiple personalities vying for control. The one that ended up winning was evil, and Smokescreen defected from the Autobots and eventually sided with The Fallen. However, he was plagued by the voices of the other Smokescreens in his head.

I love that bit of canon and kinda wish it would get rehashed sometime since it has a lot of possible places it could be taken. :3
