I saw a post in one of those au's where desmonds ancestors can hear desmond and know desmond is controlling them, and one of the head canons was that haythem couldn't hear desmond and he immediately desynchronized twice because of how weird it was so I wanna do something with that😀
I sighed. "Here we go again." And with that, I passed out.
I opened my eyes, rubbing the blur out of them. I looked around, I was back in the animus. The large expansive void surrounded me.
A voice cut through the silence. "Desmond?" Rebecca called out.
"Do you hear us?" Bill asked
I groaned, trying to ignore the pain in my head. "Yeah, what happened?"
"The temple triggered a bleeding effect. You collapsed and entered into a fugue state." Bill explained.
"So naturally, you dropped me in the animus instead of... I don't know, making sure I was okay?"
Bill sighed, "You weren't in any real danger. Besides, the temple seemed to be communicating with you, I didn't want to sever the connection. At least not until we knew what it wanted."
Well, he wasn't wrong. Juno clearly wanted me to find a key, but still, throwing me into the animus right after I got out of my coma was a dick move.
"Right, of course." I stated clearly agitated.
"Son, I..." He trailed off.
"No, it's fine, I get it. And I know what I'M looking for, by the way. It's a key. Just no idea where it is, though... Guess that's why she triggered the bleeding effect."
"She?" Bill asked.
"Juno, dad. She's... talking to me."
He stayed silent.
My surroundings faded. Once my vision cleared, I was in some kind of obstacle course. Rebecca's voice cut through again.
"Okay, Desmond, while you were, uh, visiting Constantinople, we picked up a new software update for the animus. I'd like to run a couple of quick tests to make sure there are no issues."
I sighed. I decided that while I do the course, I could prepare myself for meeting a new ancestor. I wasn't sure whether to be nervous or excited.
Rebecca gave me instructions, but I tuned them out, I already knew what to do.
From what I saw from the bleeding effect, maybe they were from England, from what I saw it was farther ahead in time them Ezio, maybe in the 1700s.
I guess I wouldn't know till I met him, I just had to hope he wouldn't freak out.
I jumped down from the rooftop. The animus glitched a few times as it loaded.
The world began to build itself. I sighed, preparing myself.
I felt my body shift. I looked down to see that I was in a different body. I grasped the hilt of my sword. I looked around, based on the building and the way people were dressed I was pretty sure I was right about this being the 1700s.
I began to walk forward. As I did, I called out in my mind. "Hey, who are you?"
Silence.
I blinked with Altair he freaked out and thought I was a ghost, Ezio thought I was some kind of other worldly being, but now... silence.
"Hello, anyone here?" I got no response.
Can he not hear me? I felt the world around me begin to glitch again, I tried to calm myself, but I soon felt a twinge of pain as I desynchronized.
I was now back at the beginning of the stone path. Could this guy really not hear me? Now that I thought about it, I did feel more... disconnected from him than I did with Ezio and Altair.
It felt more like I was watching in 3rd person and less like I was sharing their body.
"Sir? Are you alright." A man asked me.
"Yes, I'm fine, just preoccupied is all."
This honestly felt so weird. I wanted to ask who that man was, but I knew I wouldn't get a response. Was this a new update to the animus.
And with that, I felt the familiar spike of pain jolt through my body, desynchronization.
"Desmond, are you alright?" Rebecca asked.
"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, just... being in the animus again is... strange." It was half of the truth.
"Alright, just tell us if you need a break, okay?"
"Okay." I stated.
I took a deep breath, steadying myself. This was going to be a long animus session.

alright long long sappy weird post incoming abt my own personal story of being an ao3 author with a "sorry i haven't updated in a while! [some of the wildest shit you've ever heard] haha i should be back at it more regularly soon though! thanks for your patience!"
for context i last posted a fanfic, my first and only one i published, TEN YEARS AGO. like almost ten years and one month to the day. i was fourteen?! and it was well received and boosted my confidence a lot - several writers i really admired complimented me, and a few artists even made fanart of it (and ALL the art was amazing!!!!!!!!!) it absolutely blew my mind. like, people were so freaking nice to me about my very first published fanwork, and it really really meant a lot to me then and still does now, that people cared enough about something i made to make something in response.
but also it made me nervous to put out anything else. i had other stuff i'd already written, and i had more ideas. but what if i just got lucky the first time? or the semi-sequel i was planning just didn't live up to the first one? all kinds of stuff that i think is probably really really normal for people to feel about Sharing Their Work. but i was very in my head about the whole thing. if i couldn't do it just as good or better the next time, i didn't want to do it At All.
and unfortunately, in the most typical fashion for an ao3 author, i had a life-altering medical emergency almost immediately after publishing. i had been sick for a while, trying to hide it. but it turns out i was, like, dying sick. like "i'm now permanently disabled" sick. and i'm okay enough now, but. life got significantly harder after that. many days i barely had the energy to watch television from my bed, much less sit at my desk and actually Write Something. my brain was fried and scrambled. my body was wrecked. i was deeply traumatized by my experiences.
(i will never, ever forget the kindness of one of my favorite fanartists; she drew me a card with my favorite characters holding balloons that spelled out "get well soon!" i didn't cry much in the hospital, but i cried a lot about that. i looked at it every day that i could physically operate my phone. i still have it saved. she sent it the first week i was in and i looked at it as much as i could for the next month i was there.)
for about a year, i didn't leave my house except for medical appointments, or maybe to visit my brother, and those visits were mostly just us sitting on the couch and watching things together. even that was hard, i'd fall asleep. but he was good to me.
and even when i got a little better, i still couldn't really leave the house, i could just sit at my computer. but i started making friends on the internet, actual good friends, people with similar experiences and interests. and when i was sixteen, after i finally got another surgery i really needed, i went on my first trip in years to visit an internet friend. i flew to another state by myself to meet a person i met on tumblr. crazy, right? but it was awesome. we're still dear friends. and a little later, another friend rode a bus halfway across the country to stay a week with me over a school break - and they were amazing. i met both those friends again, i even saw one of them last year, we still love each other so much.
having my brother and those internet friends genuinely gave me will to live. they saw what i was going through, and loved me relentlessly through it. they were completely understanding and accepting of my disability, even the objectively gross parts of it, and never made me feel bad for it. they showed me that my life, while radically altered, was not anywhere near over - that i could be disabled and also extremely happy. i didn't know that. in that hospital, i was so close to being entirely hopeless about anything ever being good again. on that airplane, at that bus station, i was so full of excitement and elation to be living. even when we weren't together, there was promise for more chances to see each other. even if i was tired, or in extreme pain, or nervous, i had love. so much love.
but i still lost a lot. head still scrambled, brain fog constant. i fell out of touch with creative writing, which was something i had loved since i was a small child. i mean, how do you write when it's hard to even read? i was a voracious reader as a kid, but not so much After. i say After because even though it all happened when i was just fourteen, i felt like i lost any chance to be a kid. like i lost a massive part of who i was, because i was used to who i was being what i could do, and i suddenly couldn't do those things. not the same way.
i was afraid to even try anymore. my skills had degraded and the prospect of having to truly work at what was once so easy, so natural to me - it seemed absolutely insurmountable. chatting about headcanons, sure, easy-ish! stream of consciousness. writing? actually writing things to show people? much harder. i even wrote my diaries in cryptic ways, strange fonts and multiple things overlaid in different colors, just to make sure nobody could judge the quality of - of my writing to myself.
and then, yknow, other life things happened. trying to graduate. getting a job and working myself to death to impress people (who did not care in the slightest about how hard i tried, and tossed me away like trash for being disabled.) the death of a very important person in my life. moving out. a string of questionable relationships and one actually really really bad one. trying to recover any of my sanity or self esteem after being abused by someone i trusted. bouncing between housing situations and sleeping in my car. finding love! the real deal! surviving the first half-year of the pandemic as an immunocompromised person with six roommates all working service jobs. multiple other devastating deaths. yknow, like? other insane shit? just really truly bonkers shit?
and in the last two or three years, i've gotten a chance to... relax. slow down. i live with just my wife now, in a decently sized place. i repaired my relationship with my parents. i have a polycule of extremely wonderful people, and really incredible friends. i'm not afraid of my partners. i'm respected by the people in my life. i'm allowed and encouraged to like things, to really like things, to not be ashamed of being autistic and having special interests. i'm encouraged to be creative in any form i want to try. my physical health isn't great, but it's stable. i'm stable.
and i decided... i wanted to write again. to try. even if it wasn't easy like it used to be. even if it wasn't "as good" as something i did ten years ago, nearly half my life ago. even if nobody cared except my friends. to just do it because i have thoughts, and feelings, and they're bouncing around inside my heart and my brain and my soul and i want to let them out! i want to share. i've decided that i do not have to be afraid of sharing.
and, like, is that kind of a silly point to come to? that i lived through hell and now... want to be unashamed to write and post fanfiction? maybe, i don't know, maybe a little bit.
but also, it's been almost exactly a decade since i got my shit wrecked by my own biology. i wrote and shared that first fanfic while i was trying to hide an extreme illness from my family - i had been getting sicker for months, and i didn't know why. but i didn't want help. i was deeply convinced it was better to die slowly than inconvenience anyone.
i wrote and published a silly fic to distract myself from something horrifying that was happening to me. and few weeks later - shit well and truly hit the fan, and i did die multiple times, and then i got to live with the consequences of not asking for help when i needed it. (and the consequences of medical malpractice! that's a big one too. not everything was on me. like, definitely some of it, but not all of it.)
and now i'm, like, pretty happy with my life. i have so much good all around me. i actually want to live, i have plans for my future, i have goals. and. i have the kindness to just. let myself enjoy things, process things creatively, think more kindly about my own work. be less hypercritical of myself and less fearful of judgement. so. i want to write? about things that interest me? not to distract from something awful, but purely as an expression of something inside me that wants to connect to the outside world. as a means to get back to everything i (intentionally or unintentionally) cut myself off from. it seems right.
in conclusion. earlier today i posted my first real live actual fanfiction in over ten years. and that's on the spiritual healing powers of being gay & transgender

This and the next few issues take place during Fallen Angels, with Berto and Warlock gone. In Warlock's absence, Doug has a nightmare that all his recent merging with Warlock catches up to him, and he becomes a techno-organic being and accidentally infects all the other New Mutants. Then, the real Warlock shows up and declares himself the new Magus, who Doug must battle to earn the right to survive. Doug wakes up and is relieved it's all a dream, but unknown to him, deep inside his ocular nerve there's some tiny machinery spreading. The whole team, finally free from being grounded, is going with Max to a party at the Hellfire Club, which they're all nervous about. Illyana tells Doug she'll protect him if they try anything, but that just upsets Doug, who feels useless without Warlock around. Tarot of the Hellions asks him to dance, but he doesn't trust her and refuses, although it turns out she was just lonely, which makes them both feel crappy. Meanwhile, Illyana grabs Empath and starts dancing with him, cheerfully telling him that if he tries anything she'll strand him in Limbo again. Dani bonds with her Hellion leader counterpart, Thunderbird, arguing about their respective teachers before deciding to put the rivalry aside and keep an eye on both their teams. To start with, they try to track down Rahne and Catseye, who are hanging out somewhere in animal form. Sam and Jetstream have their usual argument about who's faster. Poor Amara doesn't even get a Hellion rival, just Selene, who chooses tonight to reveal that she's Amara's ancestor. Speaking of Selene, some low level club member shows up with an antique statue of her, hoping it'll buy him her favor, but she says it's a fake. Doug's night, on the other hand, is greatly improving. Roulette starts flirting with him and then brings him to the club casino, where she gets all the best cards and he can read when everyone's bluffing. They end up drunk in a bedroom upstairs, but they're interrupted by Catseye and Rahne, who have been goofing off running around the whole building. It freaks out Rahne so much that Dani feels it and gathers both teams in the room, where she chews Doug out for letting his guard down around the Hellions. Thunderbird gets upset about that, and tensions keep rising until Sam suggests they settle it with a friendly contest- find the guy who sold that fake Selene statue. Seems like a weird contest to me, but everybody agrees to it.
It's finally time to catch up with Xuân, who took the party as an opportunity to possess Tessa and use her to access the Hellfire computers. Max has been using all his resources to try to track down her siblings and found nothing, but she hopes these villains will have some info he didn't. The plot is interrupted by Shaw, who attacks her until Max stops him. He tells Xuân she can use the computers under his authority, but he's already exhausted the Hellfire resources in his own search. Upstairs, the New Mutants decide to start their scavenger hunt in their graduation costumes, since they have masks. These costumes still kinda suck, but in this simpler artstyle of this issue it's less egregious. Xuân says she's not participating, which makes sense cause her current problems are way more important than this rivalry. Rahne sniffs the broken statue and tracks its scent to Central Park, where she picks up the scents of the people who sold it- the Silver Samurai and Viper. They teleport to Viper's island, which apparently she's taken back up residence in, and beat up some guards. Doug takes a bullet for Dani, but survives thanks to his costume. I sure hope he never does that again wearing a less durable outfit. Once they beat all the guards, they regroup and prepare to find Viper, but the Hellions show up with her tied up. The New Mutants have lost the contest, but through the combined efforts of the two teams, they took down Viper and all her minions. Before they can ponder if there's a lesson there, though, they return to he club and find a note that Xuân left for them. It says that she's leaving them to go work for her crimelord uncle so she can use his resources to find her siblings, and she doesn't want them to track her down until she succeeds. It's a sobering moment after the kids spent all night in a childish contest.
And just like that, Xuân is gone from the book and so is Claremont. To be fair, he was only planning to leave for a few months while Louise Simonson filled in and he wrote the first few issues of Excalibur and Wolverine, but he ended up liking those so much that Simonson stayed on for the next few years. So this little arc ends up being a weird little coda to his run. His presence will still be felt, since he and Simonson spent most of their time in the X-office bouncing ideas off each other and coplotting crossovers even after she stopped being his editor. And Simonson also has a great run on the book and a good handle on the characters. Honestly, the bigger change is the loss of Xuân. She's the first member of the team to leave permanently, and with her goes the relative stability that the team roster has had. She shows up again pretty soon in Claremont's Wolverine, but after that she vanishes for a while and doesn't come back to prominence until Claremont's return. She's felt a little out of place in the book for quite a while. Originally she was the older role model for the younger kids, and although she did disappear for a while, it felt more intentional, a way to off-balance the others until they were able to save her. But while she was gone, a bunch of new characters showed up who didn't really need a mentor like her, and the plots got weirder and more fantastical until a grounded and jaded adult like her didn't really fit in. She never really got a story arc after she returned, other than her Shadow King trauma, which got brushed under the rug pretty quickly. She's one of the characters that gets a lot better once someone other than Claremont gets hold of her. As for this story itself, it's one of the best Hellions stories, because Empath is barely in it. The team rivalry is a lot more interesting for it, and some of the other members get more of a chance to shine. Also, the fact that they're now Hellfire Club members put a new spin on the tension between them, like they've gone from rivals to step-siblings. I kinda wish there had been a team up fight scene at the end, but the story is fine without it.

For the Saileen wedding festivities...
Cas and Dean are lying quietly in bed, settling in for the night early because (they’re old) they have to wake up early in the morning. More wedding stuff to be done, and Garth is coming over to start making centerpieces. It’s almost comical how quickly their lives turned around from fighting God from an underground bunker to arguing with a florist over the price of chrysanthemums (too damn much; Cas won that fight though).
Cas snuggles closer, his head nudging under Dean’s chin, and sighs. “Oh, Sam asked me to be his best man today.” he says sleepily, trailing a finger up Dean’s softly padded ribs.
“What?”
“Sam asked me to be his best man,” Cas repeats, confused, because he recognizes a less than positive tone in his husband’s voice. “For his wedding?”
Dean sits up suddenly and looks at him. “What? My brother asked you to be his best man? What the fuck?”
Cas squints at him. “Sam and I are very close friends, Dean. I don’t think it’s that extraordinary.”
Dean has a hand on his hip. This is not going well. “And what am I, huh? Chopped liver?” Cas opens his mouth to reply but Dean holds a hand up. “Don’t answer that. I’m his fucking brother, we’ve literally been to hell and back-” another more insistent hand up to hold against Cas’s interjection which was most certainly going to point out that he and Sam had also been to hell and back together. “Oh fuck no,” he climbs out of bed, already pulling on his pajama pants where he discarded them before getting in bed.
“Dean, where are you going?”
“To talk to my brother.”
“Dean, it’s late and-”
“Cas, I’m going to talk to my brother. This is bullshit. You’re the one who’s always saying I should talk more, well,” Dean throws his hands up, and he would look adorable if he weren’t so angry, with his rucked up hair and pajama set and wild eyes. No, scratch that, he does look adorable.
Cas rolls his eyes and gives up. “Okay, well, drive safely.”
Dean waves him off, already halfway out the door.
------------------------
Sam is not expecting any visitors.
He’s halfway down into his place next to Eileen on the couch, ready for his first ever viewing of The Exorcist (it hit too close to home growing up, but he and Eileen are working on picking up on the shit they missed out on because of hunting), when he hears someone pounding on the door like there’s been a murder.
Given the fact that any of his friends and family members would be much calmer if there’d been a murder, he can assume it’s not that. Given the fact that they have a perfectly functioning doorbell six inches from their doorknob, Sam can guess who it is.
“Coming!” Sam rolls his eyes and turns to give Eileen an apologetic glance.
One second - Dean’s at the door. He signs and leans in for a peck. She pulls him into a kiss that really should not happen right before he opens the door to his brother, but he’s not complaining when he pulls away after a few seconds.
Hurry back. There is a devilish glint in her eyes that Sam recognizes.
Yes, ma’am.
Sam leaves his fiancée with a scrunched up nose at being called ma’am and pulls open the front door. Dean freezes midair with his fist raised, halfway through another thudding knock. “What the fuck,”
Sam and Dean had made a deal after the first month post-chuck, and that deal included no non-emergency unplanned drop-ins after 8:00. Dean had agreed to it only after they both installed Life360 on their phones and got automated (and supernaturally modified) alarm systems for both their houses. So this was a breach.
“You asked Cas to be your best man?”
Sam sighs. He should’ve known his brother would freak out over this. “Yeah, we’re-”
“I thought we were good, Sammy! I mean I know I was a little uptight at first, with the moving out and the figuring stuff with Cas out and all that, but I thought we figured that out! We did the boundaries and that shit, Sammy you took me to fucking couples’ therapy!”
“It wasn’t couples’ therapy, it was group therapy, and it was for both-”
“I don’t give a shit! And then you ask my husband to be your best man instead of me? Your own damn brother?”
Sam blinks. “Dean.”
“What? You got a problem, you come talk to me about it! Isn’t that what we fucking decided?”
“Dean, listen,”
“No, it’s bullshit!”
Sam sighs and closes the door behind them, backing Dean up onto the porch. The cool spring made him hug his arms close to his chest. If Sam didn’t know better, he’d say Dean was shivering, but he did know better, so he knew his brother was shaking. And that meant that he was actually really fucking nervous about this. Shit. “Dean, I didn’t ask you to be my best man because I want you to give me away.”
Dean blanches. There’s a beat of silence where they both just look at each other. “What?”
Sam shrugs, feeling weird about saying it now. “Yeah, well, Eileen said that walking down the aisle at the end made her feel like she was an animal at a circus, so we decided I would.” He pauses, sure Dean’s about to make fun of him for another gender non-conforming move at his wedding, but he’s still too shell-shocked to be a smart ass, apparently. “And generally, the person who walks down last has someone give them away…”
“Yeah, like their dad.”
Sam raises his eyebrows. “Yeah, I don’t think Dad and I are really there… yet.” Or that they ever will be, but there’s no need to go into that now. Dean always gets this constipated look on his face when they talk about John. “Besides, I kinda want the person to give me away to be the guy that raised me, so…” he shrugs again. “I want you to do it.”
Dean has gone completely silent and he’s staring up at Sam either like he kicked his puppy or he’s just named himself the Pope.
“Uh, Dean?” He waves a hand in front of his face. “You in there? Breathe.”
Dean frowns at him but obeys and takes a deep, shuddering breath. “You want me to walk you down the aisle?” he whispers hoarsely.
Sam laughs, recognizing his face for the I’m-trying-not-to-break-down-crying face now. “Yeah, man. You’re my big brother. Of course I want you in my wedding. I just… I want you to be in the right place.”
It takes another few seconds of staring, but then Dean breaks into a wide grin and pulls him into a bone-crushing hug. “Fuck, Sammy, of course I’ll give you away, you fucking princess,”
Sam barks out a breathless laugh, not even sure if Dean’s trying to insult him anymore with the pet-name. “Great.”
Dean pulls back. “Does this mean I don’t get to make a best man speech? Because I’ve already got half my jokes planned.”
Sam grins. “Unfortunately, you can still make a speech. Just keep the sex jokes to a minimum, okay?”
Dean chuckles. “That ain’t your call, Sammy. Eileen’s gonna love it.”
“Shit, so it’s gonna be really bad.” Dean winks at him. He’s gonna need to make sure he drinks before that speech. “Alright, now can you get off my fucking porch? I love you and all but you’re ruining date night.”
Dean rolls his eyes and pats him on the shoulder. “Yeah, yeah, old man, go and enjoy your boring old stay-in date night like the nursing home patient you are.”
Sam fixes him with a bitchface. “You act like I don’t know you’re about to go crawl into bed with your husband and go to sleep just so you can wake up early and do the crossword before Garth gets there.”
Dean freezes only a second, but Sam wins. “Shut up.” he says quickly, finally retreating back to where the Impala’s parked on the street. “Tell Eileen hi for me!” he adds excitedly.
Sam grins and waves. It’s only when he’s going back inside to Eileen that it hits him how fucking lucky he is, to have a brother who cares so much and a family all around him like this. The love of his life sitting on her phone with a bowl of popcorn and m&ms in her lap waiting for him. He sits back down on the couch and signs Sorry about that - wedding stuff to Eileen.
She rolls her eyes. He freaking out again?
Always.
Such a brother-of-the-groom-zilla.
Sam laughs and grabs a handful of popcorn, signing again once he’s stuffed it in his mouth. Ready to make demons fun again?
Eileen nods, grinning. No talking about how you would hunt the monster better this time.
Sam scoffs. Like you won’t.
Eileen laughs and presses play.

i get a little bit stressed out (when i think about you) (jill roord x arsenal!reader)
Tumblr media
how were you supposed to ask her out when just thinking about her made you nervous?
word count: 3342 ish
rated: F for flirtation sugar daddy
title- nervous by shawn mendes
——
your eyes followed her even when you didn’t mean for them to.
there was just something about the way she carried herself… you really just couldn’t get enough of it and-
“hello? y/n?”
you really really really had it bad. it really didn’t help that she was talking adamantly about something to viv, the other dutch forward having a relatively hard time keeping up with the taller girl.
its only when daan claps in your face that you turn and look at her.
“sorry what?”
daan face palms before saying:
“you know if you stare any harder you’re going to strain your eyes.”
you blush a little.
“i’m not staring….i’m-”
daan’s pointed look shuts you up.
you blush harder and look down at your cleats, adamantly avoiding the midfielder’s gaze.
her tone softens a little when she sees you.
“you really should just ask her out y/n. its been like two years.”
you scoff a little.
“it has not been two years what are you-“
daan cuts you off with a matter-of-fact tone:
“she joined the team in 2019 buddy.”
“yeah but that doesn’t mea-“
“and exactly how many words have you exchanged with her?”
you think before saying with an air of false confidence:
“like a lo-“
“not counting on the field.”
you sigh and hang your head in defeat before whispering:
“like two.”
the dutch midfielder hums and asks again:
“mhmm now what was that?”
you roll your eyes and say it a little louder, still with that air of defeat:
“like two words.”
daan patted your shoulder encouragingly before the whistle blew, indicating the end of break, and training picked up once again.
~~
jill was talking about you during the break, actually.
to viv across the field from you.
the dutch forward had slowly realized that you were different around her, that you didn’t speak as much, and actually that you avoided her at all costs.
this she found out because there were instances, such as during team dinners, where if there was an open seat next to her, you didn’t take it, opting to stand or sit on the floor as far away from her as possible.
or that whenever she sat down next to you you shot up out of your seat almost instantly.
or that when you saw her coming down the hall you immediately turned and walked the way you came from.
or- you get the point.
she couldn’t tell if you hated her, because frankly that’s what it looked like.
so that’s what she was speaking to viv about.
and to lisa about.
and really anyone who would really listen.
of course, everyone knew your predicament, as you weren’t exactly subtle in your staring and stuttering.
they all assured jill that you didn’t hate her, that maybe you were just shy, something jill had a hard time believing since she watched you hold confident eye contact and conversations with literally everyone else but her.
if you were someone else maybe she would care less.
but you weren’t.
see, this is only how you acted off the field.
but on the field, you were a completely different person.
you had a confident, almost authoritative tone when you spoke, one that made everyone stop and listen, and was something that ultimately landed you the role of captain for every team you’ve ever played for, with arsenal being no exception.
you spoke to her that way too, and it was really the only time you made eye contact with her and spoke to her.
granted it was more like you giving orders and directions, but same difference really.
it was also something jill found really really hot.
so safe to say she cared about what you thought of her.
jill eventually decided that if you weren’t going to talk to her first, she’d do it instead.
and so began her quest, getting y/n y/ln to talk to her and hopefully become her friend.
~~
you noticed the change in jill immediately.
it seemed as though the dutch forward was tailing you every chance she got.
every corner you took she seemed to appear right in front of you, every time you glanced at her it seemed as if her eyes were already on you.
it got so bad that you tried even harder to avoid her.
for instance,
one day before training you were out on the pitch shooting from midfield and muttering game analysis under your breath when you heard a familiar, heavy dutch accent making its way through the halls.
you panicked and-
daan found you ten minutes later inside a trashcan.
needless to say you had a pretty hard time trying to explain the smell and stains on your jersey to joe later that day.
in your defense because the field was so empty, that was the only plausible option in your mind.
as time went on, it really didn’t get any better.
there was another day during training where you turned to catch a glimpse of jill only to see her eyes already on you, and you turned back so abruptly that you knocked down the entire weight rack in front of you.
jill giggled, and the rest of your teammates were rolling their eyes and collectively face palming at your stupidity.
it all came to a climax when you were on the bus to your first match of the year, and jill plopped down in the seat right by you.
your eyes widened and cheeks flushed immediately, and you trained your eyes on the seat in front of you, not daring to turn and look at the girl beside you.
“hey how are you?”
you gulped and slowly looked up at her, and you cursed internally.
she was just so unfairly attractive.
the slightly shy smile and arched eyebrow was a combination you swear only she could pull off and-
“i’m doing okay, how are you?” you managed to force out.
at least you didn’t stutter.
jill gave you a lopsided smile that made your heart skip a beat, and went on talking.
she knew you weren’t much of a talker around her, and subsequently filled up all the gaps with her rambling, something that you both appreciated and hated, as it really didn’t help the queasy feeling in your stomach.
when the bus pulled to a halt you felt like you were going to puke, and shot up out of your seat wanting to run off before you freak out, only to remember that you were in the inside seat.
jill moved slightly without hesitation, something you were more than thankful for.
she whispers a little dejectedly when you get off:
“are you sure she doesn’t hate me?”
lisa gives her a sympathetic look and smile.
“she doesn’t jill.”
“but she just-“
“trust us, she doesn’t.”
jill nods a little apprehensively, and gets up and grabs her stuff, making her way off the bus along with everyone else.
~~
during the game, jill was so distracted that she almost ran in the wrong direction.
“jill! press! now go!”
you were yelling at her from midfield, glancing all over the place as you watched every player’s movement and stance.
jill almost stumbled upon hearing your voice.
you note that she’s acting weirdly, and bring it up during a quick break while the ref is assessing a potential foul.
you catch her arm when she walks by you, an action that catches her entirely by surprise.
“hey you alright? your head is all over the place.”
jill swallows a little bit before smiling weakly and replying:
“yeah yeah i’ll be okay.”
“alright well get your head in it, you’re really talented and we really need you right now.”
you give her arm a reassuring squeeze and move to take the free kick which had just been given.
jill still stood there a little dumbfounded, its only when you snap loudly and point in the direction of the box that she remembers there’s a game going on and moves into position.
all in all, arsenal wins with an emphatic victory of 5-1.
after your duties as captain were fulfilled and you gave your post game talk, you quickly fell back into your off field self.
~~
now why was the previous bus interaction the climax?
simply put, it had been the last straw for a lot of your teammates, who were now fed up with your idiotic gay panic, and decided to do something about it.
you should’ve known something was weird when you get a text from viv reading:
“URGENT- team meeting in 15 min at me & lisa’s apartment”
you furrowed your brows in confusion.
you were the team captain and the one who called team meetings, so what was up?
also it was saturday night, couldn’t it wait?
you texted kim, the vice captain, and pretty much the only responsible adult on the team, to double check.
she replied with:
“yes- joe told us about it.”
you furrow your eyebrows again because you took your job of captain seriously and you honestly didn’t remember joe mentioning an impromptu meeting on saturday night at viv’s house.
but you made your way there just in case anyways.
when you make your way inside you glance suspiciously around the apartment and only get more confused when you see less than half the team there.
the only people there besides viv and lisa were daan and beth, caitlin and lia, leah and jordan, and katie.
by this point you should’ve known.
you open your mouth to speak but you’re cut off when daan shoves you down into a chair.
“sit.”
you shoot back up and fight her back a little bit before asking:
“guys guys guys what is going on?”
leah calmly looked at you and said:
“sit down and we’ll tell you.”
and so you begrudgingly take a seat.
lisa starts.
“alright so collectively as a group, we decided that watching you deal with jill is making us all lose brain cells.”
the group in front of you nods adamantly in agreement.
“and so we’re here to help you. to teach you how to flirt.”
you cross your arms and snort a little.
“and how are you going to do that exactly?”
“well-“
beth piped in here.
“we’re going to employ katie and have her flirt with you and teach you for the next week or so.”
you shake your head.
“katie? no i would rather go on my own thank you very-“
katie cuts in here with an offended look.
“what do you mean no?! i’m obviously the best here and-“
the room quickly broke into a loud cacophony of sound, as they began debating about katie’s comment.
its only when lisa yells for silence that everyone quiets again.
“wait how many people are in on this?” you ask suddenly.
“the whole team with the exception of jill,” leah replies offhandedly.
your eyes nearly bugged out of your head when you heard this.
“is it really that bad?”
lia snorts.
“can birds fly?”
you let out a sigh.
“fine.”
you turn to katie and very adamantly say:
“but don’t you dare make it weird.”
katie holds her hands up in surrender.
~~
and so it began, your “training” as they called it.
katie, surprisingly was pretty good at what she did.
she did unfortunately call herself your flirtation sugar daddy, but that really made you uncomfortable so you avoided those terms at all costs.
so day after day, katie stuck by you and flirted with you 24/7, with occasional performance evaluations from lisa and caitlin, all who approved thus far.
on the downside, jill, who had been kept out of the loop from everything, saw this as you being interested in katie.
she wanted to tell you that katie had a girlfriend, but didn’t really know how to start that conversation without making it weird.
she couldn’t just go up to you and say, “hey i’ve been watching you flirt with katie for the last few days and just so you know she’s taken.”
so she just stood by and watched.
she did ask viv about it one day though.
“does y/n know katie has a girlfriend?”
to which viv replied:
“yup.”
“so why is she flirting with her?”
“its just for fun.”
“it doesn’t look like its for fun to me.”
viv turns and looks at her dutch teammate.
“are you jealous?”
jill almost sputters out her answer.
“wh-what no of course not! why would i be jealous?!”
viv turns to hide her smile.
“sure jill. whatever you say.”
two weeks went by, and katie was delighted by your performance.
next saturday, the ten of you met up at viv and lisa’s apartment again.
“alright so you might be asking why we’ve gathered you here today!” lisa proclaimed with a very poor attempt at victorian english.
“we’re gathered here today to-“
“oh just get on with it,” viv butts in.
lisa turns to her with a glare.
“all right all right,” viv relents.
“we’re going to assess y/n’s flirtation capabilities.”
you quirk an eyebrow.
“how are you going to do that exactly?”
“ooh we didn’t actually think that far. we’re going to ask you questions?”
“what like ask me to finish the line? like ooh girl are you from tennesse cuz you’re the only ten i see?”
lia cringes a little at that line.
“what ever you do, don’t say that.”
“mhm yeah wasn’t going t-.”
leah cuts in.
“alright the point is. just be yourself y/n. you exude confidence on the field so just bring it out when you talk to her. that’s all”
the others all nod in agreement.
“that’s it really. you can do it y/n, we all believe in you.”
“thanks guys i really appreciate it.”
“wait but i can still be your flirtation sugar da-ow! you didn’t have to all hit me!”
~~
the next day at training you were shoved and funneled in jill’s direction by almost half the team.
a particularly hard shove from daan had you slamming directly into jill.
the dutch forward turned and grabbed your waist in lightning fast speed to steady you.
your arms immediately fell to rest on hers, and you took a shallow breath in when you saw her concerned look.
“are you alright?”
“yeah i am thanks to you…”
well here goes nothing.
“…though i have to say if this is what it takes to get you to hold me i’ll gladly fall for you again.”
jill’s face was worth the burning on your cheeks.
“w-what?”
you had to admit, jill’s stutter only made her cuter.
you just gave her a wink and reluctantly pulled her arms off you.
“come on jill, we have a training session to get to.”
you gave her a final wave before you made your way out of the locker room.
jill still stood there, shocked and a little confused.
viv rolled her eyes.
“come on jill.”
and when jill didn’t move, viv just grabbed her arm and dragged her out of the room.
later during training almost the exact same thing happens.
except this time it was more jill’s fault than yours.
she wasn’t watching where she was going and ran right into you.
your hands found their way immediately on her waist.
“is this how we’re going to meet and talk from now on?”
jill blushed and mumbled a “sorry.”
you grinned.
“don’t be, i’m kind of enjoying it, though…”
you stopped to fake pondering something.
“…i don’t know what we should do now that we’ve both fallen for each other.”
you finished your sentence with another wink, essentially rendering jill speechless.
and so, this became a trend.
you would flirt with jill, and the dutch girl would essentially just freeze up and stare at you in shock.
you thought it was cute.
jill thought it was mortifying.
she complained to viv later on.
“i can’t even flirt back what is happening to me?”
viv just gave her a reassuring pat on the back.
“that’s what we call gay panic my friend.”
jill groaned and buried her face further into her hands.
~~
“what’s a pretty lady like you doing all by yourself?”
you ask, plopping down in the empty bus seat beside her.
jill blushes and looks down at the seat in front of her.
she could barely see your playful grin out of the corner of her eye and it was enough to kick the butterflies in her stomach to a higher gear.
you had a little deja vu during the bus ride, except that in the previous predicament the roles were switched.
jill somehow managed to hold it together for the remainder of the bus ride.
it was on the pitch when jill really couldn’t take it anymore.
you didn’t even do anything, except fulfill your captain duties.
you were standing on the sideline, watching a scrimmage between lia’s team and kim’s team.
joe had asked you to sit out and assess every player’s strengths and basically coach them.
and coach them you did.
“caitlin! daan’s open on your left! and malin! cover daan better so she’s not wide open!”
you looked down to scribble notes in your note pad, and when you looked up you saw jill staring at you on the field.
“jill! focus!”
her gaze snapped back onto the game.
before the second round, you gave a bunch of pointers to both teams.
“okay so you guys are doing pretty well, just make sure to keep up your back line, don’t make it sloppy.”
and to the other:
“alright so pass accuracy is something you need to work on, because half of your passes are being intercepted at the moment which probably isn’t something you want.”
after a few minutes the teams took their places back onto the pitch and you began scribbling down a few more notes.
a pair of cleats makes their way before you, and you look up.
“what’s wr-“
jill leans down and kisses you.
you drop your notepad in surprise.
she pulls back quickly and searches your face for any sign of disgust or repulsion, and finding none, she leans in again.
this time, you met her halfway.
it was electric and a little needy, really everything you wanted a first kiss to be.
you briefly heard the cheers and clapping of your teammates, too caught up in the moment to care about anything else.
jill’s hands fell to your waist and yours rested on her cheeks.
you pulled back after what seemed like an eternity, but in reality was only a couple of seconds.
“so i guess i don’t have to fall for you to hold me like that again,” you whisper.
jill giggles.
“definitely not.”
you’re silent for a few seconds, but jill beats you and breaks it first.
“you know, i thought you liked katie.”
your eyes widen in surprise, and your face quickly contorts into disgust.
“oh god no way.”
“oh that’s good.”
you ask her a little teasingly:
“why, were you jealous?”
jill scoffs a little.
“shut up.”
you arch your brow a little in challenge.
“make me then.”
jill’s eyes flash back onto your face dangerously but before she can do anything you give her a little shove back.
“now go back to your scrimmage, we’ve had them wait long enough.”
she rolls her eyes and turns back towards the pitch, and towards a hoard of your giddy teammates.
“flirtation sugar daddy for the wi-ow!”
your perfectly struck ball hits katie square in the chest and your glare cuts eliminates any objections.
still you hear her mutter:
“still if anyone needs any help with flirting i’ll be free to-“
“katie!”
“sorry sorry i’ll stop.”

Hi! Can I request headcannons for the human brothers accidently summoning an angel mc instead of a demon and the angel mc insisting on sticking around and helping them?
The other brothers: :) Satan: >:)
This has been in the drafts for too long. I really love the absolute mood switch between Lucifers and Mammons. And just Satans in general ig.
Lucifer
After years of religious trauma at the hands of his father Lucifer finally thought he was free of any connection to the church. Summoning a flaming seraphim at 3 in the morning was not a pleasant way to find out that he was wrong.
As for you, being summoned for the first time in your long long life was an unwelcome surprise. You were a seraphim for heaven's sake. The cream of the crop, highest of the high, and that wasn’t pride speaking only facts. You were crucial to running the celestial realm.
But somehow you’re undeniably tied to his human. You could feel where his soul became intermeshed with your very essence. How wrong it felt to be tied to something so mortal, and delicate, and free.
Any attempts to leave would surely be met with disaster.
So you stay. Lucifer is cold. You can’t blame him. Being there reopens old wounds that he’d rather have remained closed. But just ignoring each other isn’t going to work.
He’s not interested in the celestial realm, and despises any blessing you try and give him, but a fresh cup of coffee during an all-nighter seems to make him brighter than any magic you could do and when you run your hands through his hair he looks at you with more fondness than you can comprehend.
You learn to be more human. He learns to let go of the past.
And one day you find that you don’t want to leave anymore.
For celestial sake that thought should as well be treason! But it’s true.
It’s a spring afternoon and Lucifer plays celestial lullabies on his piano and you want nothing more than for the beautiful night to come so you can sweep him in your arms and remind him how he glows.
You don’t know what is right and what is wrong anymore, but you know that this human is yours and you are his. To rip off your wings would be to find solace in his arms. But you can not give him that. This he knows.
So you promise to protect him, in words he can’t hear but he understands. The spread of your wings shield him from the world and you press blessings to his skin in the shape of the crescents in his back and your lips on his neck. If nothing else you’ll keep him safe. When the world seems too big and the stress of his life gets him down you’ll always be here for him to crawl back to. You can give him that much.
Mammon
That was it
You had to have been assigned the stupidest human in the world
When you were promoted to guardian angel you kinda thought it would be more ‘protecting orphans’ and ‘guiding lost puppies back home’ NOT watching a grown man spend his last paycheck on his eighth Nigerian prince scam
Seriously mammon? Did the prophetic dreams you sent mean nothing? The visions of the future he coincidentally had after hitting his head on a light post, only simple illusions? What more could you try beyond simply marching down their and clocking him on the head yourself?
...unless
Raphael would have your wings if you went to the human world. But that would be a lot less painful that having to watch whatever Mammon was going to do with all the rubber cement he just bought.
The next morning you decide to sneak down. The city was amazing, all colored light and fun machines that whizzed by you on the streets
But you had to stay focused
You were an angel on a mission
You made your way towards central park. Mammon went there every morning to swindle tourists out of their wallets. If you were fast you’d get there before the first patrol office started chasing him.
Spotting the albino you marched straight towards him, readied yourself, and smacked him over the head.
Maybe not very angel-like but it worked.
One introduction later and you're officially a guardian angel
Mammon’s actually pretty nice once you get to know him. Sure he may be a bit too obsessed with lining his pockets but for all his talk he never hesitates to try and help you out.
Consistent affection and care is good for him. He never really knows how to react when you wrap your wings around him but even with his tsundere objections it's obvious he’s pleased.
He’ll take whatever scraps of affection you’ll give him and practically beams at every little gesture you do, no matter how small or insignificant.
You do have to be careful though.
At his request you had attempted to bless him with a bit of luck. An easy enough spell for an angel like you (even if you were 90% sure he planned to go gambling after). Whatever scheming he’s doing immediately stops the moment you cup his face. He seems to freeze when you lean in, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek
You were about to congratulate yourself on a spell well done when you noticed the condition he was in. He was like a living statue, a statue with a very very red face
Before you can ask what was wrong he flails pushing you away and darting off to his room
Any attempts to speak to him the rest of the day were met with incoherent shouting.
It might be best to withhold any magic until you can figure out how humans work
Levi
Once again Levi’s dedication to anime gets him into trouble
It started with his most recent obsession, a new anime that follows a group of angels, produced by the famous company, Dove. The plot, the animation, the soundtrack, all of it was amazing so when they came out with a new limited edition item featuring the very symbol that the main character wore he just had to have it
The moment it came he was setting it up on its own altar, a handmade replica just like in the show only for- Oh no
Before his eyes burst a shining visage of light and then you
You blink in surprise, whether it's from taking a human form for the first time in decades or the strange new room you were in, only you know
The scene may be foreign but the guy quivering on the floor was not
BE NOT AFRAID
Your booming voice echoes around the room
For some reason the guy begins to freak out even more
Didn’t he see your halo? You even told him to not be afraid. Were humans really so strange? :(
Oh well. You hum making your aura as comforting as possible and slowly the guy calms down enough for you to coax him into a seat as you begin to explain.
Which might not have been the best move.
The moment it sunk in he was bombarding you with questions
Yes you were an angel, no you didn’t know what anime was, yes you had wings, no you didn’t have any secret ultimate moves...whatever those were
He ranted and raved over this and that and you let him. He seemed like he needed someone to talk to. It also let you piece together what had happened.
He seemed to be a natural sorcerer, and a powerful one at that if he could someone an angel with no training or even knowledge that he could do magic
Just a few minutes in his presence made his self loathing obvious. Mix in a bit of anxiety and envy and you essentially have Levi in a nutshell
So you decide to stay
What kind of angel would you be if you just left him here? Michael would understand.
Or he wouldn't, it didn’t really matter because you already made up your mind.
Living with Levi is an experience for both of you.
He introduces you to so many new things. He had little boxes that could control light and screens containing actual people to talk to. It was all quite fanciful
In return you act as his friend, encouraging him to go out with you and attending cons with him, even if you still weren't exactly sure what cosplaying is
Slowly he begins to open up for you
He’s still nervous to go out in public, and a complete introvert at heart.
But that was fine. You could both figure out this new world together, at your own pace
Satan
Definitely was not trying to summon a demon to lay havoc on his enemies
Nope, not him he says all while trying to casually kick away vials of mysterious fluids
...Right
You’ve been down to the human world enough to know a demon summoner when you see one
Or in this case a failed summoner
He has no excuse for why he called you and instead seems more insistent that you leave
As much as you you might like to return to the celestial realm, you cannot in good conscience leave a man that you know is going to try and raise hell on earth the moment your gone
So you stay, and it's a good thing you do
This man has anger issues like no other
You thought Raphael was bad this guy is like a demon himself
However he seems willing to try and make the best of what he considers a bad situation
He asks you a lot of questions on the celestial realm
For a guy who knows so much about the devildom he seems to really be lacking on any knowledge on the other celestial beings
He mostly asks you questions on the celestial war, which is a touchy topic at best and downright upsetting at worst
He’s very interested in your opinions as your point of view is very different from his own, what with being a different species and everything
You learn things too, mostly about humans and cats but you suppose its a fair trade
Because of this you become close friends
You really win him over when he finds out your calming aura naturally attracts the stray kittens Satan's been trying to pet for the last few months
It’s not uncommon to head out to late night coffee shops and discuss the merits of different aspects of your lives
But maybe you’ve gotten a bit to close when he starts asking you to revise his summoning notes
Asmo
Apparently a lifetime of partying has prepared Asmo for some very weird discoveries
When you're sent down to the human world you have one job, find and keep an eye on the potentially dangerous summoner who's been in contact with multiple high level demons in the past few days.
Instead you end up meeting Asmo
You were prepared for a fight, not to be tackled into a hug the moment you revealed yourself
Asmo on the other hand is squealing with excitement
Sweetie, he's been waiting for this moment! This is his first time meeting an angel after all
He immediately begins talking about everything he wants to do
You quickly find out that he hasn’t made any pacts...yet, if only because he “couldn’t bear to damage his skin with such an ugly mark”
...Well you suppose that's a reason to not sell your soul
Even thoughts he's aware of the three realms it doesn’t make him any less enamoured with you
He’s never met an angel, he’s quick to mention. He’d love to get to know you, if you get what he means ;)
Are all humans so upfront?
If you decline he still wants to see your true form, even after you explain that no, if you transform you will not just be a beautiful angel with wings but instead a glowing mass of eyes and feathers and angelic light that will probably end up blinding him
Blinded because of your beauty ;) ;) ;)
That said he’s easily satisfied when you just bring out your wings.
He loves fussing with them and decorates them with jewelry and roses whenever you leave them out
He even starts an angel trend on insta after posting a photo as if they were coming from his back instead
Claims your glowing aura is great for his skin
You’re not sure if that’s a pick up line or if he’s serious but he definitely basks in your presence
Loves when you talk about the celestial realm, somewhere he desperately wants to go
I mean it's the only place that's fit for a beauty like him right? But of course he can’t die yet, his fans would be sooo upset
You agree to bring him up there one day, even if that sounds a little morbid
Of course he asks you to become his guardian angel
That may not be your actual job but you can’t resist his puppy dog eyes
You and him go pretty much everywhere together, bar some more xxx rated sites
He introduces you to parties and bars, and while you don’t indulge it's enjoyable to see humans in their natural element. They’re so fun and free spirited just like Asmo
Maybe that's what attracted you to him in the first place
He loves life for what it is, something so admirably human
But you don’t slack off either. You take your role as Official Guardian Angel seriously. You guard his drinks when he goes to the bathroom, and hum celestial lullabies when he’s sad and escort him down dark alleys when walking home. He has nothing to fear with you around.
You’ve become very fond of this human. Perhaps you’ll stick around a bit longer than you planned
Beel
It’s rare to be assigned to a human so...mundane
But that’s exactly what Beel is. He goes to the gym in the mornings, works a nine to five, and comes back home to his dog
He even has a good relationship with this family, do you know how hard that is to find in this day and age???
The only thing even slightly abnormal about this guy is his appetite
He could put a gluttony demon to shame with the way he eats
But the point is you really can’t figure out why you’ve been assigned to him or how your supposed to guide him
Eat a little less? Stop stealing your brother's lunch?
It’s the first time in a long while you’ve been so stumped
So you do what any sane angel would, go down to the human world to meet him yourself
He’s a likeable guy and it’s easy to get close to him, more so do to your angelic status
Although it’s surprising how well he takes the whole angel revelation
To be honest your pretty sure he forgets most of the time
He tends to follow you around, especially at night when he insists on walking you to wherever you need to be. It’s sweet even though there's little that can really harm you in the human realm
You quickly realize that he’s the type to have nightmares, usually calling out for one of his brothers or his sister
It’s become habit to wake up and head to his room
Just being there seems to calm him down
The first time he wakes up when your doing this he ends up asking you to stay
Isn’t shy about sharing the bed either.
He’s easy going so goes along with whatever idea you have
Especially when he starts finding snacks in his bag, each one blessed for a good day or to stay full or whatever little thing you thought of that day
Belphegor
Humans can’t see angels. Not unless they want to be seen, you remind yourself for what must be the tenth time.
But you’re almost certain that guy is looking right at you.
Step to the left, his head follows
To the right, his eyes narrow looking at you like your some puzzle he just hasn’t figured out yet
…this was fine
You turn around pretending to just not see him in hope that he’ll get distracted by something else
...you glance back. Why was he still looking at you? What is with this creep?
Enough is enough.
You march over there ready to ask what his problem is. Instead he beats you to it.
Eh? You’re an angel right? He asks before you can say anything.
???? Shouldn’t he sound more shocked.
The guy just sleepily blinks. He doesn’t look like a sorcerer or a witch, in fact you can’t feel any magic from him at all.
You go to ask only to realize he’s sound asleep. It’s not like you could just leave him here. And at the same time a human who can just see angels is an oddity of itself.
You decide to hang around for a while. Belphegor doesn't mind. He only says something about it being "too troublesome to drive you off," and "you'd look like you'd just come back anyways"
Belphie sticks to you like glue, if glue was absolutely insufferable and seemed to enjoy annoying you at every possible moment
You would think this would be easy. I mean he sleeps all day and when he’s not sleeping he’s napping. Simple enough right? Wrong
When he was awake he was committed to pushing every single button you have
If it seemed like it might inconvenience or annoy you he was already doing it. Trying to smack your halo, pounce on you, or even jump off the roof just to see you scramble to catch him. He was like some terrible terrible cat
Luckily he was never energetic for long. When he wore himself out he’d retreat to the roof of his crappy one bedroom and wait for you to join him
He liked to look at the stars and he’d point them out to you. Orion, Polaris, Sirius, he would mutter, bringing you back to the days when Michael, who was once so fond of you, would sneak you down to the human world just to show you the stars and darkness the celestial realm could not offer
When he finally got tired you would take over reciting Celestial names and marking the sky with your finger just to show him where they’d be.
Those times were pleasant. Even if they were brief.
“I’m gonna jump.”
“Do it.”
“You’re an angel. Aren’t you supposed to stop me before I do something stupid?”
“You won't.”
“Aight. Bet.” Belphie pitches forward and you just manage to catch him by the leg before he falls off the roof.
Brat.
Always ruining a good moment.
You can’t even be mad. The moment you pull him up he’s already resting his fluffy head in your lap waiting for you to pet him.
He may be the most troublesome human in the entire three realms, but he’s your human

It was just something you’ve always done, as you grew up it happened less and since you’ve done it for so long you don’t even notice it anymore. Now that doesn’t mean other people don’t.
Highschool had been the worst for it, kids can really be mean for no reasons. Teachers would also get really annoyed with you for whistling during their lessons thinking you were taking the piss, you didn’t mean to, it just kind of happened and when you were nervous it seemed to happen more, it was just vicious cycle.
Now that you were older it didn’t really bother you, it didn’t happen often and when it did, no one made a big deal out of it, because as shocking as it may be to some, people can be respectful grown-ups and not make fun of people for the littlest things, amazing I know. Besides, you were good at hiding it and if they did notice it happening nobody in the team mentioned it. So, it was fine.
Right now, you were all working a case in Texas, it was a tough one, you weren’t getting any breaks and you were all frustrated, also it is so freaking hot. You are sweaty and stressed, not a good combination.
You were staring at the conference board, desperately trying to find a connection between the victims while Spencer was working on a geographical profile. You were doing the whistling thing it wasn’t frequent, but Spencer had counted 5 in the past 2 hours, it wasn’t bothering him, he liked it,  it reminded him of your presence there which he found comforting.
You two had been dating for the past year, and boy was it a wonderful year, you both loved each other so much, which was a word you had only recently allowed yourselves to utter to each other, and it felt so good. You never stopped saying those words to each other that night (and moaning them).
That’s 6 Spencer smiled to himself as you whistled again, he was broken out of his peaceful state as you quite loudly and dramatically gasped. “oh my god I found it”.
After that the case was still tough, all cases are but you caught the guys, it turned out to have been partners, one was shot during take down, he didn’t die only injured, you weren’t too torn up about it to be honest he did horrible things to those women and threw you a punch which left you with a bruised eye, prick.
Now you were in the jet doing what you always did on the jet after a case, sharing the couch with Spencer. He was sitting across it with his back to the wall and you were between his legs with your back to his chest. He was holding a book with his left hand and you were holding onto his right absentmindedly playing with his fingers.
Everyone else was asleep apart from Hotch who never seemed to sleep, maybe he’s a vampire you thought, and giggled at the absurdity of it.
You were nearly asleep and totally blissed out, when Spencer piped up quietly. “that was 8, you’ve never done it this many times in this amount of time”, you scrunched up your brows in confusion and tilted your head slightly so you could see his face, “what?”, “whistling, you’ve done it 8 times this case, and that’s more than you normally do”, he stated simply.
Your felt your cheeks heat up in embarrassment, you hadn’t even realised you just did it never mind so many times. Spencer didn’t seem to notice your reaction and kept going still quietly as to not wake anybody up. “Since I’ve known you, you do it on average once a week, when we don’t have cases or when they are fairly easy ones and about 3 to 4 times on harder cases or when you are very stressed but never this many times”.
This time after he was done he noticed how you were hiding your face in his chest and how the visible part of it was completely red, this saddened him somewhat he never meant to upset you, he knew you didn’t always notice the whistling and that it wasn’t voluntary but he didn’t think it bothered you.
He started playing with your hair because he knew it calmed you and made you feel better when you were upset, “I didn’t mean to upset you bug, I’m sorry”, “its ok I’m not upset just really embarrassed” you replied with your face still in his chest, “you don’t need to be, there’s nothing embarrassing about it,”, you looked up at him and deadpanned at his  statement, “yes there is, it’s annoying and weird and , “and incredibly cute” Spencer interrupted, you just looked at him really confused, “no it isn’t Spencer, you don’t have to lie”, “I’m not lying” he answered immediately “I find it endearing, and cute, and I absolutely love it,” you tried to bury your face in his chest again but he used one hand and placed it on your cheek so you would keep eye contact.
“This is something that makes you special bug, and not something you should be embarrassed or ashamed over, you shouldn’t worry over something like this”. He rubbed your cheek with his thumb and almost as a reflex your eyes closed as you leaned further into his hand. Now with a sheepish tone he added “and as I’ve already mentioned I find it incredibly cute and adorable”, you couldn’t supress your smile at this statement as your cheeks tinted pink.
“Thank you Spence”, he smiled at you and replied “you don’t need to thank me bug” with that he leaned down and kissed your temple and as he pulled back whispered an I love you which you returned without hesitation.
With that you got comfortable oh his chest again and took his hand once again to play with it until you fell asleep, while Spencer didn’t return to his reading instead he played with your hair with his other hand and admired the woman he loved and who he had the privilege to have lie with him.
Boy did he love you, every part of you, even the ones you didn’t appreciate quite as much.

Kiss or Slap part 2
part 1
Robbe stands in front of the mirror, eyes critical as he assesses the forest green shirt, plucking at the collar that’s digging uncomfortably into his neck. It’s not like the shirt is ugly; the problem is that it’s not and that it looks a bit too formal. But then again, Robbe wouldn’t know for sure since he’s never been on a real date before. He’s feeling a bit helpless in that area, to be honest.
He has a half a mind to text the boys and ask for advice, but just as the thought passes his brain he scoffs because it’s just silly; the only thing he would gain from doing that would be merciless teasing for weeks on end. Thanks, but no thanks.
Sighing, he glances in the direction of the hall, debating with himself whether asking for Zoe’s opinion is the right option here, but deep down he knows that otherwise, he’s gonna be standing i front of that mirror agonizing over his appearance for the next twenty minutes if someone doesn’t talk some sense into him.
The way Zoe’s eyes widen in surprise when he enters her room lets him know that yes, he is overdressed.
“Too much?” He scrunches up his face, feeling a bit self-conscious.
“Well, I mean... you look really nice, but, um, maybe go for a t-shirt instead?” Zoe suggests, looking almost apologetic. Robbe hovers in the threshold, still not totally convinced.
“Yeah?”
“You clearly feel uncomfortable in that, plus he’s not taking you to an expensive restaurant or something so I think you should just go for chill,” she pauses, trying to remember something. “That pink t-shirt you have? You look really cute in it! You should wear that.”
“I don’t wanna look cute, Zoe, I wanna look hot,” Robbe blurts out, pink blooming on his cheeks when Zoe coos at him in that annoying way she always does and he immediately covers his face. “Stop.”
She giggles at his embarrassment, patting his arm consolingly as she pretends to give him a once over. “You do look hot, no matter what shirt you’re wearing.”
“Yuck, that sounds weird coming from you.” Robbe fake-gags and gets a smack on his chest. “I’m outta here, thanks.” Before he manages to close the door, Zoe catches his arm and shoots him a comforting smile.
“And calm down. He’s already into you, he won’t care what you’re wearing, Robbe.”
It’s easier said than done. Ever since he woke up, he’s been a giddy, anxious, yet excited mess, butterflies flying rampant in his stomach, fingers drumming absent-mindedly on the nearest surface, and he’s-
Well.
He’s been kinda freaking out.
Somehow (he has no idea how), he managed to keep his cool during that faithful afternoon a week ago when a boy came up to him with a dumb YouTube challenge, he’d even call himself flirty and bold.
He’s not so sure he’ll be able to provide a repeat performance tonight. Not with that particular charming smile directed at him, almost making him whimper because no one should have the right to be that handsome. At the time, the infatuation was laced with disappointment and anger so Robbe guesses that’s what helped him keep his cool.
Only to melt into a pile of goo minutes later when Sander’s cheeks flushed red in embarrassment over what popped on his phone screen.
Bambie eyes
Robbe smiles at the memory, trying to keep it small and not look like a psychopath that’s grinning to himself for no reason. It proves to be difficult though, those damn butterflies not easing out when an image of Sander combing his fingers through his longish bleached strands pops into his mind, uninvited, but oh so welcome if Robbe’s being honest.
Back in his bedroom, he fishes out the pink t-shirt from the drawer, sending a thank you to the past Robbe who finally did his laundry last Wednesday. His comfort level is up immediately after he takes the green shirt off and pulls the pink one over his head; the material doesn’t dig in anywhere, and it’s just... him. He doesn’t feel like a clown anymore.
A quick look at his watch and he curses under his breath. If he doesn’t want to be late, he needs to leave in five minutes tops. It’s probably better this way since it means less time for freaking out. Once he sprays a bit of cologne on his clothes and grabs his wallet, he gives himself one last look in the mirror, fingers attempting to tame his curls at least a little, but it proves to be a lost cause. As usual. His hair just has a mind of its own. He doesn’t let himself obsess too much about it though, and as he closes the door behind the flatshare his mind wanders to two weekends ago, the corners of his lips twitching on their own.
“You look like an angel with those curls. I should get you a halo or s’mthing.”
He’s in his personal space all of a sudden and as Sander’s breath grazes his face, Robbe’s own breath stutters, but the freakout has no time to breakthrough on his features because Sander’s eyes swivel up, glazed with alcohol as he tugs gently at one of the brown strands.
“I really like ‘em, you know? They’re so... silky. And pretty.” A lightbulb goes on in his head, his lips widening in a smile. “You’re so pretty.”
Drunken confessions never really seemed particularly sweet to him, but with Sander gazing at him like he hung the moon and the stars, his jaw slightly open as if in wonder, it was difficult for Robbe to feel anything else than fondness, heart fluttering in his chest, so enamoured with the boy with white hair that it would have blushed if it could.
That white hair and green eyes have been the main stars of his dreams ever since.
Okay. That’s not entirely true. There were glimpses before that. After all, Sander had been the first thing he noticed at the Academie. But at the time, he had only been his looks to Robbe, golden skin and intriguing smirks, face scattered with moles and legs for days.
And lips. Lips that looked soft like a rose petal.
He had dreamed about those lips a lot then.
He still can’t believe his brain holds the memory of kissing them with his own.
Again. Peak boldness for him.
And yet, he’s so nervous now, walking fast-paced to the nearest tram stop, praying his chaotic energy won’t make him look like an idiot once he’s faced with Sander again. His only saving grace, the only reason the full on freakout seems to be kept at bay is the reminder that even though Sander is way out of his league, he’s also a bit of a dork, and that honestly makes Robbe feel better.
Hes a hot dork though.
But a dork nonetheless.
Deep down Robbe hopes he’s gonna become his dork.
The city passes behind the window in a whirlwind of colors, creating the perfect background for him to get lost in his thoughts, daydreaming to the sounds of the playlist crafted specifically for him, courtesy of Sander. As Bowie sings about absolute beginners, a notification ping pulls him back from his musings, lips smiling on their own when he sees Sander posted a photo.
And what a photo it is, fuck.
A part of his face, edges smudged with shadows leaving only his eye in focus, dark eyebrow curtained a little with wet bleached strands, everything in black and white aesthetics because Sander rarely does colors, Robbe came to find out.
  With eyes completely open
But nervous all the same
He wonders if the lyrics relate to their date or it’s just his wishful thinking.
Quick fingers like the photo and then take a screenshot of his own Spotify to send it to him. Robbe doesn’t have to wait long for the reply, a string of “🤯” blowing up his phone followed by “I’m so proud 🤧”, which again confirms that Sander is, indeed, a dork.
Robbe shoots him a “😂” and scrolls up a bit to check the address again.
 Robbe: I watched the video
Robbe: It was cool 😎
Sander: Oh yeah?
Robbe: But somebody cut me out of it 🤔🙄
Sander: I told them to, it was too personal 😌
Robbe: Oh 🙃
Sander: + You're too pretty for our dumb videos 🤷🏼‍♂️
Robbe: 🙈 stop
Sander: You are 🤷🏼‍♂️
Robbe: You're making me blush 🙊
Sander: Well good, you're cute when your cheeks are all pink 😏
Robbe: 🤪
Sander: But you're always cute so 🤷🏼‍♂️
Robbe: Okay stop haha
Sander: 😎
Robbe: Thank you tho 😊
Sander: You're welcome x
Sander: Now go to sleep, I need you to be rested for tomorrow!
Robbe: Tell me where we're going 🥺
Sander: Nope
Robbe: Please 🥺
Sander: Nope 😌
Robbe: How should I know you're not gonna kidnap me or sth 🤔
Sander: Robin! I would never! 😟😟
Robbe: Robin?
Sander: Yeah
Sander: You like it? :)
Robbe: I think so :)
Sander: Good 😌
Sander: Oranje Street, that's all you need to know
Sander: Goodnight Bambi Robin 🦌😏
Robbe: Shdjskahaggfdsk 🙈🙈
Sander: Hehe
Sander: 😚
Robbe: 😊
The Robin part pulls another involuntary grin out of him again, the jitters in his stomach intensifying, but now they’re more anticipatory than nervous. He checks his hair in his selfie camera, running a hand through it to mess it up a little just when his stop comes.
The neighborhood is busy with the Friday rush and he has trouble finding white hair in the crowd from where he’s leaning on the lantern. Swaying awkwardly he keeps looking around, feeling his stress levels raising with each second and telling himself to get a fucking grip.
“Hey, Robin.”
His poor heart just can’t catch a break today.
Jumping a foot above the ground before swiveling around to smack Sander’s chest, the first thing he sees is his toothy grin, face smug at almost giving Robbe a heart attack.
“Asshole.” His grumble is all for show, the corners of his mouth pulling up when Sander presses a soft hello kiss to his cheek.
“Sorry, didn’t wanna scare you.” He could win awards for least sincere apologies ever, but Robbe would lie to himself if he said he didn’t find his playfulness attractive. Also, he’s still trying to get his heartbeat under control that has less to do with actual scare and more with the warm breath grazing his ear and the fanthom feel of lips on his cheek.
“Sure you didn’t.”
Sander chuckles at his deadpan face that lets him know Robbe knows he’s full of shit. Raising his arms in capitulation, he says another sorry before giving him a not so subtle once over, his features softening.
“You look really pretty.”
His voice sounds uncharacteristically shy, Robbe notices, and he keeps biting his lip nervously. This sudden shyness looks exceptionally endearing on him.
Eyeing his t-shirt critically, he cocks his brow at Sander, hand scratching his head in a self-conscious move. “Thank you. It’s nothing special though.”
“Then I guess it’s just you,” Sander replies, shrugging matter-of-factly, and keeps giving him that charming smile that weakens Robbe’s knees.
But he still rolls his eyes on him, snorting as he mutters “smooth” to which Sander pretends to hold his chest dramatically, swearing it’s not a line and that he’s being honest.
“Okay, okay, let’s say I believe you,” Robbe gives in after being defeated with a strong case of puppy eyes. “Now come on, tell me where we’re going.”
The faux-serious expression on Sander’s face melts into a full of promise smirk. “Prepare to be mind blown!”
And then he takes off, firing a wink over his shoulder at Robbe who’s gaping at him, flabbergasted. This mixture of confidence and shyness taking turns emanating from Sander has a peculiar effect on him, making him follow the boy without another question. He’s intrigued, curious to find out what’s underneath this cockiness that Robbe has a feeling is all for show, a cover up, but for what he has no clue.
They fall into an easy conversation on the way to their destination, interrupted with a string of Robbe’s guesses as to what that destination is and Sander shooting him down everytime, his smile getting fonder with each pout directed at him. So far it’s been way less awkward than Robbe feared, familiar almost, safe, melting away the anxious lump in his stomach. The good-natured teasing reminding Robbe of his relationship with Zoe or Milan, only the furtive yet lingering glances they keep shooting at each other when they think the other is not looking the sign of this being more than just a friendly hangout.
“Any plans for the Eenvoud sequel?” They’re crossing the street when Sander asks the question, tongue in cheek, which makes Robbe scowl in disdain. Even though internally he’s pleased Sander went and looked him up online. He was less pleased with the teasing that ensued a few days ago.
  Sander: I had no idea
Robbe: ?
Sander: That I'm going on a date with a star
Robbe: 😂 what
Sander: Music star 😏
Sander: Or should I say
Sander: Dance star 🤔
Robbe: Oh fuck
Sander: You're v e r y talented Robbe IJzermans
Robbe: Shut uuuuuup
Sander: 😂
Robbe: You weren't supposed to see that 😭
Sander: Why not? You're so cute in it 😌
Robbe: 🙈
Robbe: Please don't hold it against me
Sander: Never :)
Robbe: You're gonna hold it against me aren’t u
Sander: A bit :D
Robbe: 🥺
Sander: But in a loving way!
Robbe: Guess I have to now go and find blackmail material on your channel 😌
Sander: As if you hadn't already 😏
Omg you're so full of yourself 🙄
Sander: 😛
Robbe: Should I be expecting hoards of fans throwing themselves at you when we're out?
Sander: Haha no
Sander: Maybe a few ;)
Robbe: Great, now I'm even more nervous :(
Sander: Why are you nervous? 🥺
Sander: Are you nervous about our date?
Robbe: Well um
Robbe: A bit?
Sander: I'm nervous too
Sander: But that's because I wanted to go out with you since I saw you on campus the first day
Robbe: I wanted that too
Sander: Oh 😌
Robbe: Yeah :)
“Fuck off,” he barks out a laugh, shoving him without much force once they’re back on the sidewalk. Sander pretends to be offended with the attack, huffing and shaking his head, but then bumps him with his hip all the same, smug when Robbe splutters in indignance in turn.
“Keep this up and I’m gonna rethink my forgiveness.” Robbe’s tone is lofty, even if his eyes scream he’s just teasing, an attempt to rile Sander up.
The boy’s eyes widen comically, hand flying to his chest. “You wouldn’t do that to me, Robin.”
There’s that nickname again, making his breath catch again, and the only response he can manage now is a flirty smile, or at least something that is supposed to look like it.
The afternoon heat subsides on their way to Sander’s mysterious place, but Robbe’s still glad he left that green long-sleeved shirt at home when they slow down and Sander turns to him with an expectant look.
“Carnival?”
“I didn’t remember you giving me your number, but I did remember your preaching about cotton candy being the superior junk food,” Sander rushes with an explanation like he feels his choice needs a proper justification. “And it just so happened that a carnival came to Antwerp this weekend. I thought it was a sign?” He scratches his nose, his stance a little unsure as he awaits Robbe’s reaction.
His eyes grow bigger with each passing second until Robbe beams at him and tells him how much he likes the idea. Sander lets out a loud phew, face relieved when they enter the area. The place is packed, but that’s okay because Robbe loves the vibe and how close Sander keeps walking next to him because of it. The loud music is not the best for talking, but they soon find other things to do, marching from booth to booth, getting drinks and trying out silly games, the teasing competitiveness quickly coming out. Sander really wants to win a plushie for him, but he fails spectacularly, his sulking remedied only by a kiss on his cheek.
Robbe eats his weight in cotton candy, childlike joy on his face while Sander watches amused and keeps calling him cute. The Ferris Wheel was supposed to be their next stop, but when it turns out it's out of service, Sander shoots him a desperate look, apologizing for this lame outcome like it's his fault. But Robbe is having so much fun he barely cares they lost their chance at a kiss on the top, knows the night's still young and they'll get their chance somewhere else.
They try out a few other things, laughing and having a great time together before Sander gets weirdly quiet.
"Do you, um, do you think we can go sit down for a bit? To talk?" Sander keeps avoiding his eyes as he asks, but Robbe doesn't miss the flicker of vulnerability in his face, and he feels his heart jump in his chest. He's a bit taken aback at this gear change, but Sander's clearly bothered with something and he wants to be there for him so he just hums and follows him to the bench outside.
"There's something you need to know."
Robbe steals himself for the worst, muscles tensing as he holds his breath.
“I’m bipolar,” Sander finally blurts out, and Robbe’s heart breaks for the insecurity in his eyes, eyes that are now darting all over his own face, trying to be furtive, yet clearly assessing his reaction. “I just-, I want to be straight with you from the get go cause I feel like this may be going somewhere and I don’t want to lie, or, omit anything.” He pauses, frowning a little as he looks down, and something awfully similar to a broken heart shadows his features. “I don’t ever want to keep it a secret anymore.”
Robbe doesn’t say anything, waiting for him to continue, but Sander misinterprets the silence.
“It’s, um, it’s okay if you don’t wanna get involved with me now or something, I get it, I’m a lot to handle.” Scratching his head awkwardly, his lips morph into a wistful smile, and Robbe knows he needs to put a stop to these thoughts.
“Hey,” he starts softly, waiting until Sander’s ready to direct his eyes back on him. When he does, he shoots a smile at him of his own, but there’s nothing wistful about it. If it matches what he feels, Robbe’s quite sure it’s close to adoration, actually. “Thank you for telling me.” Sander takes a deep breath, sitting straight as if he’s preparing for a rejection. “My mom has schizophrenia, you know?”
Green eyes blink up at him. “Oh?”
“Yeah.” Robbe lets his smile widen. “And she’s an amazing mom. She just-, struggles sometimes, and there are days that are really shit days. But I can’t imagine her not being here. Because she’s amazing. And I love her. With or without a mental illness.” He presses his thigh against Sander’s, trying to ease his nervousness as he continues. “I still want to give us a shot. Cause, um, I think that, um, well, you’re really hot, I mean cool, I meant cool, well...” Why does he have to be so awkward? He peaks at Sander after his unfortunate little slip and feels his cheeks flush under his small grin.
“You think I’m hot?”
Robbe whines in protest because now Sander’s just being a little shit, torturing him even though he knows exactly what his stammering means.
He hides his face in his hands. “Obviously, since I’m on a date with you, smartass.”
“It’s always nice to hear.” Sander nudges their shoulders and it makes Robbe look up, just in time for a wink. “Especially from a cutie like you.” He holds his gaze, a small smile playing on his lips, and as Robbe gets drowned in his green eyes, distracted, Sander lifts his hand to push a few locks away from his forehead. The brief contact of his fingertips with Robbe’s skin is enough to raise goosebumps on his skin, and he really hopes Sander didn’t notice, that he doesn’t know how gone he is for him already.
He already mourns the lack of contact when Sander pulls away, something akin to shyness on his face now as he’s fiddling with his fingers, and it’s comforting to see he’s not the only one around here being affected.
It’s what gives him the guts to do what he does next, without second-guessing himself again into a spiral. He gets up off the bench and takes Sander’s hand in his own, their fingers tangling right away like it’s their second nature, and nods in the direction of the sidewalk.
“Come on, I’ll show you my favorite spot around here.”
The initial surprise at Robbe’s bold move is quickly replaced with a beaming smile as Sander squeezes his hand gently and gets up too, laughing when Robbe bumps their shoulders teasingly because hey, he’s still a teenage boy and sometimes likes to act like it. Also, he needs to do something to distract himself from the fact that he’s holding Sander’s hand. The fact he can feel a thumb softly grazing his knuckles, almost absent-mindedly, does not help. He'd think their playfulness and cheek kisses would make it all easier for him, and yet here he is.
He’s feeling carefree and drunk on his feelings and this evening and Sander’s smile and when they get close to the spot, Robbe sets his hand free and jogs over to the small ice cream booth, turning around to do a small “taa-daa!” with a big grin. Sander’s laugh at his shenanigans is music to his ears and he loves how the previous frown is now officially gone from his face, features softening instead, eyes twinkling as he calls Robbe a dork, entwining their hands anew the second he’s in his close proximity. Robbe scoots even closer, like an invisible magnet is pulling them together, getting lost in his presence, the smell of his aftershave that carries notes of citrus and something woodsy, masculine, combined with the intoxicating scent of Sander’s leather jacket. The air changes around them, gets charged with tension, Sander’s face changes too, green eyes darting to Robbe’s lips that get dry under attention, and he licks them subconsciously. Just when Tiana Major9’s voice coming from the booth speaker sings when they collide, it’s a beautiful disaster, their faces tilt towards each other, Sander’s hand reaching up as if to cup Robbe’s cheek.
Robbe barely contains his whine when a loud crash from the booth ruins the moment, catching the same frustration on Sander’s face in the corner of his eye. The loaded silence is buzzing in his ears, nerves picking up and he feels awkward again, not sure whether he should just go for it or wait for a better moment.
Sander’s chuckle brings him back from his overthinking, smiles crookedly down at him. “Come on, you gotta tell me your favorite flavor.”
His tone is light like the almost-kiss didn’t happen, but the subtle pink at the high of his cheeks gives him away. It looks like the world’s most exquisite blush, blended perfectly with the shade of his skin that has already been painted light golden with the early summer sun rays. It distracts him for a moment, his gaze stuck as his eyes wander slowly from one mole to another, lingering on his lips that are just as inviting as they were a few seconds ago, tempting Robbe to make that move, but then he feels Sander taking his hand again, this time interlacing their fingers and pulling him out of his trance.
Robbe is a vanilla guy and he can see the joke at the hip of Sander’s tongue, but thankfully, the boy refrains from the comment, the huge eyeroll he receives probably stopping him in his tracks, and he only gnaws on his lip, trying to keep the laughter in. He goes for mango, which yuck. Sander doesn’t appreciate his reaction, and they easily slip in the previous banter, ending with him smearing a bit of the ice cream on Robbe’s cheek, lips sucked in as he giggles quietly at his scandalized face.
“You’re such a fucker!” He immediately gets him back for that and they’re close to full on ice cream fight until Sander yells truce, hands protecting his face from the onslaught of Robbe’s sticky hands. Robbe smiles triumphantly at his capitulation, and goes back to licking away at what’s left of his treat.
“It kinda fits you.”
They’ve been strolling along the river for a while now, the full moon shining its light on the side of Sander’s face, making his hair look icy white.
“What?
“The mango flavor.”
Sander furrows his brows in question, waiting for an explanation. Robbe shrugs a little, eyes tracing the soft ripples on the water as he tries to find the right words.
“Mangos have a hard peel, but have a soft inside.”
“Sooo, you’re saying I’m… mushy?” Sander wrinkles his nose at his words and it’s a truly adorable sight.
“No, I’m saying you can seem, um, intimidating and unapproachable, unattainable.” His eyebrows furrow more with each adjective. “But once you get to the inside, so once someone gets to know you, you’re none of these things,” Robbe pauses, swaying their joined hands a little as he peeks at Sander’s face. “You’re nice and sweet and stuff. Even with your edgy black and white aesthetics,” he adds as the second-thought, grinning when he gets a deadpan look in return. It quickly morphs into something softer, beautifully confirming Robbe’s words.
“Okay, let’s say I’m a mango man. In that case, you’re a cutie pie,” Sander says matter-of-factly, always needing to have the last word, and Robbe can only laugh helplessly, trying not to combust under his intense glance. “Also, my black and white aesthetics are amazing, by the way.”
Robbe doesn't dare to argue with that, and he also agrees with the statement so he admits as much, making Sander very pleased.
They walk way into late hours of the evening, huddling closer together with each passing hour in search of warmth against the coldness of the night, or at least that serves as the main excuse. Sander has him bursting in fits of giggles sharing crazy stories from his shopping assistant job and Robbe finds himself opening up about his videotaping passion, a little shy when knowing about Sander's photography skills, but the boy's eyes shine bright when Robbe mentions it, and he's so attentive and interested in everything he has to say on the topic, of the small details he geeks out about that it makes fuzzy feelings swim rampant in his stomach; it's the kind of attention he's been unknowingly yearning for, and here it is, served on a golden plate and in a package so beautiful it makes him swoon.
And he also walks him home, acting all gentlemanly and offering his jacket when the shivers shake Robbe's body a bit. What a catch.
“So, um,” Sander starts as they reach the front door of Robbe’s apartment building, his face mostly covered in shadows cast by the street lanterns. “Kiss or slap?”
The answer to the question is obvious for both of them, but Robbe can’t stop himself from teasing him a bit, scrunching up his face in a deep thought, eyebrows frowned, making Sander scoff impatiently, which is exactly the reaction he was hoping for.
Still, he needs to push him a bit more. “Hmm, I’m not sure. I should probably go with the slap for that ice cream incident.” Sander plays along, heaving a regretful sigh, before turning those pretty eyes on him, lips in a pout and hands put together in a praying motion.
“A kiss?” Bottom lip juts out and he’s just too cute for words, Robbe dropping his facade immediately, not stopping his beaming smile anymore.
He also can't fucking wait any longer.
“Okay, I gue-”
Soft lips crash into his, not letting him finish the sentence, Robbe’s clumsiness almost making him topple over, but Sander’s there to catch him, sure hands squeezing his hips and sending small shocks through his body. He rests his hand on the back of Sander’s neck, giving in to the need to bury his fingers in that messy blond hair, and he tugs, just a little, but it’s enough for Sander to sigh into his mouth and pull him closer. Robbe loves the reaction, whimpers quietly as he parts his lips just right for Sander’s tongue to slip inside, to tease at the soft skin inside of Robbe’s bottom lip. It’s all over after that, the kiss morphing from something soft and sweet to tongues sliding together, teeth clinking almost painfully in their desperation, the kiss tasting of mango ice cream and cotton candy, and it’s the best Robbe has ever tasted.
It’s better than he imagined, Sander’s hands caressing his sides as he slows down the kiss so sweet and tender, it pulls at every single one of his heartstrings. He can’t believe he has this wonder of a boy in his arms, kissing him so good, making him dizzy.
The kiss stops eventually, but they stay put, as close as before, the tips of their noses grazing against each other, warm breaths and fluttering lashes, fingernails scratching at the skin that’s covered in goosebumps.
“I have to go,” Robbe murmurs between the miniscule space between them, giggling quietly at the immediate frown his words cause.
“Nooooo.” Sander hides his face in his flushed neck, pressing a kiss there too because why not. “I need more kisses.”
And who is Robbe to tell him no, he goes willingly when Sander lifts his chin up for another one, his mouth a little puffy now. He lets him have it, not that it’s any hardship; he’d stay here all night, just lazily sliding their lips together in a never ending dance.
“Will I see you tomorrow?” Sander asks when they break apart. “I’d like to introduce you to someone.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah. You know, he’s very important to me, has been in my life for years so his opinion kinda matters a lot.”
His words take Robbe aback, but he tries not to show his discomfort, even though Sander must have felt how tense his body went. He doesn’t seem to find it weird, his face still smiling as he keeps talking about this he that’s apparently so important.
“I hope he’ll like you. He’s perfect, you know?” Actually, Robbe does not know and he’s getting kinda annoyed. He’s pretty sure waxing lyrical about someone else on a date is a faux pas. “I mean, except for leaving fur on anything he touches.”
What.
Robbe’s eyes swivel up to look at him, the corners of Sander’s lips twitching and his face a picture perfect of impishness. He groans in protest, smacking his chest because Sander did it on purpose to pull a reaction out of him and it’s not fair, damn it. He crosses his arms which proves difficult to do when there are still hands firmly holding his hips, keeping him close.
Sander rests their forehead together, swaying them a little to put a smile on Robbes grumpy face. “He’s a Norwegian Forest breed and his name is Major Tom.”
And this time it’s Robbe who has a hard time to keep his giggle in because oh my god, what a nerd.
“I wonder where that came from,” he ponders in a voice as serious as he can manage, but Sander sees right through him, pointing an accusing finger at him.
“It’s the bestest name ever, I’ll have you know.”
He gets shut up with another kiss, last one, the sweetest out of all of them. Then, Robbe steps out of his embrace, not trusting himself to end this when Sander's hands are touching any part of his body, and tells him a quiet goodnight, backing into the front door with Sander's soft sleep well ringing in his ears and a huge smile threatening to spread on his face.
Sander: May your dreams be filled with cotton candy 🍬🍭
It only takes a minute for his phone to ping.
And maybe some mangos too 🥭
Robbe: Just need one 😘
White-haired mangos 😘
Goodnight ❤️

Okay, long time followers will probably remember having read this, but I can’t find the original post and I’m trying to like.....force-reboot/jumpstart me working on my ‘Kings of the Sky’ AU again because I haven’t touched it in awhile and I have like literally eight different installments in various stages of completion and that’s ridiculous even for me. So here’s a repost of the first part of “Teachable Moments” the canon-divergence point of that AU series, where Jason calls Dick for advice after the Garzonas case and everything changes from there.
******
The way Jason Todd warily eyed the device in his hand, one might think it was an instrument of great and terrible destructive power, rather than just…his own personal cell-phone.
To be fair, he was Robin, and pretty used to the idea that even the most unlikely of things could be used for evil in Gotham. It could’ve been stolen and replaced at some point by a henchperson of Mr. Freeze, and using it could unleash some kind of cryogenic freeze ray that would turn him into a Robinsicle. Mad Hatter could be up to shit again, and dialing the phone at this very minute might mean syncing it up with a remote radio signal that would override his natural brainwaves and turn him into Tetch’s mindless minion of like…doom and stuff. Or…or…
Or sometimes, even in Gotham a phone is just a phone, and Freud is still a dumbass. And neither of the above possibilities had anything to do with why Jason was being a giant freaking pansy about entering the last digit of the phone number he would never ever admit to having had memorized for months now.
Nightwing had said to call if he ever needed to talk. He wouldn’t have done that if he didn’t actually want Jason to call, right? Like, its not as if Jason had remotely been expecting him to do that, so its not the sort of thing someone did just because it was ‘expected’ or shit. He was pretty sure. Rich people manners were weird though. Had to factor that in.
But Nightwing had also even made a point to say not talking to people about stuff was Bruce’s problem and that Jason shouldn’t let it be his problem too, and even though months ago Jason had been a starry-eyed dumbass who was totally drunk on the Bruce is the Bestest Kool-Aid or whatever, ‘Wing had definitely known what he was talking about there. So maybe he’d get it, and having this conversation with him wouldn’t be. Like. The actual worst idea in the history of ever.
Deductive logic said that Jason was getting worked up over nothing and there was no rational reason for him to be this nervous about dialing a fucking phone number. And he’d gotten pretty good at the whole deduction shit, given all the work he and Bruce had put into training his mind to view the world through entirely new paradigms, so Jason was pretty sure his math on that checked out. But on the other hand, Bruce was a hypocritical asshat that Jason was currently not speaking to, so what the fuck did he know about anything?
Aaaaand he was back to square one. Well damn. This was excellent. Very productive. Good hustle out there, Jay.
Sighing gustily, Jason flopped back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling and trying to pretend he hadn’t gotten used to how luxurious and cushion-y his ridiculously expensive mattress was. He’d gotten soft, he told himself. Then he scoffed at the idea that the past year and a half of rigorous Robin training and patrols had made him less tough than the pipsqueak he’d been back when living on the street, getting his ass kicked by bigger and badder on the regular. That hadn’t been hardness, that had been bravado.
But it had gotten him this far in life, so maybe there was something to be said for it after all?
Ugh. Decisions were hard. He objected on principle. He also really wanted to understand why he was this nervous…if he could literally fill the guy’s shoes and kick supervillain ass as Robin, what freaking sense did it make that he couldn’t even call him up on the phone?
Maybe you just know better than to ask him questions you don’t really want to hear his answer to, a smug voice said in the back of his mind. It sounded suspiciously like Willis Todd, which was all kinds of weird and fucked up, cuz Jason was damn sure his abusive a-hole of a deadbeat dad had never said anything that insightful in his life.
Which meant it was his own screwed up subconscious - presenting in the voice of his not so dearly departed douchebag dad, no less - that had Jason reacting out of spite, entering the last number and hitting Talk, all while totally on autopilot. Because apparently we’re all making healthy life choices in this Chili’s tonight, Jason snickered somewhat hysterically while his phone rang once, twice, three times.
Ugh. Was he always this fucked up in the head and he just never noticed, or was it a side effect of running around rooftops in a cape. Inquiring minds wanted to know.
“Hello?” Someone said then, answering on the fourth ring. Jason sat bolt upright, his nervous humor vanishing as quickly and unexpectedly as it’d hijacked him in the first place. For all that he’d only actually interacted with the older man a few times, his voice was instantly recognizable. As was his slight confusion.
Right. Because why would Nightwing have the untraceable number of the latest burner phone Bruce had given Jason, when the ever paranoid Bat had him swapping out phones every freaking week? Duh, Jay.
“Uh, its me,” Jason said hastily, as if he could somehow catch up to and overtake the epically long ten second silence he let lapse before his mouth started making words again. “Jason?”
“Jaybird! Hey! What’s going on?” The older vigilante’s tone instantly morphed into one of surprised delight, so apparent even across the phone that Jason actually pulled it away from his ear and stared at it, as if that could explain Nightwing’s inexplicable giddiness. He’d literally only met the dude three times. Give or take a concussion he was forgetting about maybe? Weird.
Then again, the older man was a circus performer from birth. Might just be good at faking being super excited to hear from people? Whatever. Still weird.
“Uh, you said to call if I was ever having, I dunno, issues with Bruce I guess? So I kinda had a question? I mean, if you’re not busy or anything.”
Just one question? Willis’ voice asked snidely, echoing in time with the rapid tripartite beat of Jason’s heart. Since apparently everything Jason said was trying to come out with a question mark attached to the end of it at the moment. Ugh, fuck you, subconscious, Jason thought forcefully, even as he ransacked the recesses of his mind for that bravado he was thinking about earlier. It had to be in here somewhere…
“No worries dude, I’ve got time. Hit me!” Nightwing said cheerfully. His lighthearted cadences were so at odds with the sweat suddenly breaking out on Jason’s forehead, the younger teen couldn’t help but wince in anticipation of its inevitable change once he got his actual question out. This was a bad idea, he decided, way too fucking late for it to make a difference. He had a hunch Nightwing wouldn’t be content to ‘just forget it’ or whatever even if Jason chickened out now.
So he took a deep breath, shrugged and did what Jason Todd did best. Said fuck it, put pedal to the metal, and drove at full speed for the metaphorical police barricade that was his way of picturing all the things telling him He Should Definitely Just Not.
“Do you think I’m someone who could kill somebody in like, cold blood?”
Aaaaand there went the lightheartedness. Well, he’d definitely stone cold killed that, Jason thought grimly into the silence that followed.
“Huh,” Nightwing said at last. “You’re gonna have to give me a second to switch gears here, Jay. I was kinda expecting something along the lines of ‘how do I avoid Bruce giving me the safe sex talk.’”
Jason flushed and nodded jerkily, not that the older man could see it. Still, it’d been enough of a workout just getting to this point. He didn’t trust what might come out of his mouth next if he kept trying to force it. Thankfully Nightwing didn’t make him wait too long before continuing.
“I think anyone’s capable of killing somebody in the right circumstances,” Jason’s predecessor began carefully. Except that was not remotely what he wanted to hear. Or helpful.
“I’m not looking for platitudes,” Jason grit out, not angry at the other vigilante so much as the whole fucked up mess and his inability to think about anything else at this point. “It’s just a simple fucking question. You’ve met me, do you think like, I’d be capable of just killing somebody or not.”
“I’m not offering platitudes,” Nightwing continued calmly, as if he wasn’t phased by the younger boy’s interruption or sudden aggression at all. “And its not a simple question at all. Speaking from experience, most people wouldn’t think of an eight year old as a cold-blooded killer, but that’s what I could have been if Bruce hadn’t stopped me from killing my parents’ murderer when I first tracked him down. And yet that’s still totally different from when I held a gun on Two-Face barely a couple years later, about to shoot him because somebody else told me to, and because I wanted to hurt him like he’d hurt me. Wouldn’t you agree those are two different situations and two different ‘kinds’ of cold-blooded killer? Context is kinda a big deal here.”
Huh. First off…what the fuck? Jason stared blankly up at the ceiling, trying to hurry up the processing functions of his brain because, again, what the fuck? He was like ninety nine percent positive none of that had been in the Dick Grayson Is The Greatest and Here Are All The Reasons Why brochure he’d had read to him every time someone new found out he was Wayne’s newest stray, and like. Uh. Yeah, that part would have definitely stood out. Because once more, with feeling:
“What the fuck?”
Oops. That hadn’t been supposed to be out loud. Bad mouth. Bad.
Nightwing just did a weird kinda half laugh half sigh combo. Rueful, Jason would describe it, if he were describing it to someone else, which it kind of felt like he was, relaying the conversation to himself now that it’d taken a hard right turn into the surreal.
“Blindsided you with that, huh? Sorry, should’ve figured neither of those are the kinda stories Bruce would want to share with you. Then again, I don’t really have any idea what Bruce has told you about me.”
“Not much,” Jason admitted. Which was a major source of irritation, if he was being honest. The much sung praises of Dick Grayson came from literally everyone he met except for Bruce. Who usually just got a pinched expression whenever Jason brought him up, and a rapid subject change that was not nearly as subtle as Bruce seemed to think it was.
“Yeah, that sounds about right,” Nightwing sighed. “I hope you haven’t put too much stock in anything else you’ve heard about me then. I’ll admit to a bad habit of enjoying my mystique, so secondhand hearsay tends to lose my best nuances.”
Despite himself, Jason’s lips curved up and he let out a rueful huff of his own. “I mean, this definitely isn’t where I saw this conversation going.”
The older man chuckled. “Thought I was going to just assume the worst and chuck the book at you?”
“Well. Yeah.” Jason shrugged, even though he knew it wouldn’t come across. “Bruce did.”
Nightwing heaved an exasperated breath. “Yeah, that’s kinda the thing about B. Sometimes, he’s great. Other times, he’s an ass. Its kinda an either or thing. He’s never really mastered the art of finding a midpoint between two extremes. Mostly because he’s never seen the point of aiming for middle ground.”
“Well its not like he’s ever really had to,” Jason griped. It just slipped out before he could stop it, leaving him feeling guilty for bad-mouthing B when he wasn’t around to defend himself. Especially since he knew Nightwing wasn’t the guy’s biggest fan these days. But he couldn’t deny it also felt good, in a way.
To his surprise, Nightwing just laughed. And not even in a malicious, spiteful kind of way, but almost relieved.
“God, thank you. You’d think that ‘hey, so my billionaire guardian kinda has entitlement issues’ would be a water is wet kind of revelation, but try saying something like that to pretty much anyone else…”
“And they look at you like you’re an ungrateful asshole?” Jason finished for him. Not that he’d ever actually tried saying that to anyone before, though he’d definitely thought it a time or two. But he could all too easily imagine the reactions he’d get, which was pretty much why he’d never gone so far as to speak the words.
“Yup,” Nightwing drawled, dragging out the p and popping it with emphasis. “And its not about being grateful or not, its just…there are some parts of everyone that just aren’t up for grabs, for other people to weigh in on or take charge of, you know? And a lot of people just don’t get that…because nobody’s ever tried it with them, or had to deal with expectations that…overstep, let’s call it?”
“Is that why you left?”
Jason winced the second it left his mouth. Too far. Definitely way too far, but he’d just gotten unexpectedly comfortable with the back and forth, and now he’d done the overstepping thing himself and was left with just dead air.
But ten seconds of heavy silence stretched into twenty, and went no further, as Nightwing sighed into his side of the phone again.
“The spiteful part of me wants to say it was more of a push than me just up and leaving,” he laughed again, but this time with unmistakable bitterness. “But even while that’s true, its not really the right answer to your question, because no matter how much of a clusterfuck that was at the time, its not…I mean, I knew at the time how to fix it. Where and how I needed to cave in order to make up with him and let things get back not quite to normal, but at least close enough.”
The pause wasn’t as heavy or tense this time, as Jason could almost sense the older man gathering his thoughts, trying to put them into words. He bit his lip rather than risk any more unexpected utterances escaping. This might not have been where he’d thought his phone call would lead, but now that he was here, hearing the answers to questions he’d wanted to ask for over a year and finding them almost comfortably familiar, he wasn’t going to risk distracting Nightwing or shutting him up for well. Anything.
“But it would have meant me caving. Settling in ways that I just…couldn’t. So in a way, yeah, I did leave, it was still my choice. And all of that was definitely a big part of it. I love Bruce, I do. I just couldn’t live with him anymore. Not without feeling like I had to give up my own autonomy and just be what he wanted. Or what he’d expected me to grow up to be, back when he first took me in. And as grateful as I am to him for that, I can’t honestly say I would have stuck around back then if I knew that was the price tag attached. I’m not…I don’t do well with people trying to force me to stick to one place, one thing. I was born on the road, you know? When I was a kid, I expected to spend the rest of my life living like that. Home was people. Not places. And so Gotham…its never fit me quite right, the way it does him, or even Barbara. Its not like I was miserable there, its just.”
“It wouldn’t have been your first choice,” Jason finished again, quietly. There was silence again for awhile.
“No. No, it wouldn’t have been. Not then.”

Rinks and rouxes
Tumblr media
Ok we’re ignoring so many things here as we normally do when I drop a fic. So first, we’re ignoring the fact that the plural of roux is roux and not rouxes like I have in the title because it sounds weird with English. We’re ignoring typos because no matter how many times I try to catch them all, I never do. We’re ignoring that this is being posted at like three am as well. And then there has to be something else that I’m forgetting but whatever.
This is the longest fic I’ve written as a one off fic so I hope you like this! This is for the lovely @slapshot-to-the-heart for the @hockeynetwork winter gift exchange (sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner but I was a mess this semester with grad school oop).
Enjoy!
_________________________
You were excited for the first few days in a while where you didn’t have to wake up to an alarm. A few mornings to sleep in, the sunshine pouring in through the windows, Quinn’s snoring filling the room in the bed next to yours. The boys had rented a cabin for New Years, having a rare few days off before and after the holiday to mess around somewhere outside of Vancouver.
You were not expecting to be woken up three mornings in a row to a smoke alarm sounding in the kitchen because whoever made breakfast burnt something again.
You sit up, groaning, rubbing your eyes. “Do you think they caught something on fire or do you think we can risk staying in bed?”
Quinn sits up with a yawn, shaking his head. Before he can say anything, the alarm stops, yelling coming from the kitchen. “I think we should stay up here in case someone gets killed. Don’t wanna be a witness.”
The two of you laugh, the yells getting louder from the kitchen as the smoke alarm sounds again. “You guys make so much money and yet you insist on almost burning the house down every meal,” you say, watching Quinn get out of his bed, no shirt on. You tried not to stare at your best friend, but, fuck, seeing every inch of his torso just there, you were failing hard at not looking.
You grew up with Brock, getting introduced to his teammates shortly after moving to Vancouver for school, hitting it off with Quinn incredibly fast. To say that you had a crush on him was probably an understatement, falling hard and falling fast for the boy no matter how much you were convinced he didn’t feel the same about you. You figured whatever feelings you had would pass eventually.
But that was three years ago. The feelings had not faded.
And now, the two of you were sharing a room in this cabin, praying that what you smelled was not an actual fire coming from the kitchen. And he was just there, walking around your room without a shirt.
“Y/N?” Quinn calls from the bathroom, pulling you out of whatever fantasy you were about to dive into.
“Sorry, what?”
“Who do you think burnt the food this time?”
You laugh, trying to remember who the guys decided was cooking that morning, your mind completely forgetting about whatever thirsty feelings you had coming on with Quinn right there. “I think Jake was supposed to do something but Elias didn’t trust him.”
“I wouldn’t trust either of them to make us food.” he says, a cocky tone dripping in his voice.
“You act like you could do better when we both know you set off the alarm the first morning,” you chirp back, earning a scoff from him.
His phone starts buzzing on the nightstand between your beds, nearly falling off the small table. “Want me to get that?”
“Yeah, what is it?” Quinn yells over the water running from the sink.
You pick up the phone, your heart dropping immediately. “You have a new match! From Tinder!” you say, fake cheeriness dripping in your tone. “I didn’t know you were on Tinder?”
You hear him laugh, the water shutting off. “The guys thought I seemed lonely so they made me an account. It’s not like I ever use it.”
“Hm. See. Here’s the thing,” you start, handing him his phone as he approaches, plopping down on your bed to probably look at the new match, “You don’t get matches on Tinder unless you both swipe right, which means you had to have been using it.” He shrugs, not looking up from his phone. “I didn’t know you just wanted hook ups,” you let out, trying to hide the pain in your voice with a teasing tone. If he wanted to hook up, that would mean he wasn’t interested in a relationship, which meant he didn’t like you the way you like him. Why were you even thinking about that? Why were you letting yourself spiral?
“I do not. And before you say, ‘well that’s what Tinder is for,’ because I know you and I know that was going to be the next thing out of your mouth,” Quinn says, a smirk on his face as you roll your eyes at him, slightly blushing because he was right, “I definitely want a relationship but the boys thought this would be a good start.” You swear you saw his eyes flick down to your lips for a moment, leaning in ever so slightly. You had to be imagining this, your still crush on him causing you to make things up in your mind.
“Quinn! Y/N!” interrupts you from the other side of your thankfully locked door, as you  practically launch yourself off your bed to see Brock on the other side. “I didn’t interrupt anything did I?” he asks, a stupid smirk on your face causing heat to run to your cheeks.
“No,” you say, even though you were sure your face was giving everything away.
“We made breakfast,” he says, moving aside and gesturing for the two of you to join what sounded like the rest of the team down in the kitchen.
“Are you sure about that? The smoke alarm says otherwise,” Quinn chirps, throwing a shirt on as he takes your hand and pushes past Brock. You could hear the sharp inhale that came from Brock, knowing that you would be hearing about this later. You can’t help but smile as the boys start to chirp each other, your heart racing until Quinn drops your hand, the smell of pancakes and burnt toast hitting your nose as soon as the three of you get to the kitchen. “So who fucked up this morning?” Quinn asks, trying to find plates for the two of you.
“Jake,” the guys chorus, forcing a laugh out of you and Quinn while you watch the teammate in question turn bright red.
“It’s not my fault!” he tries to defend himself.
“You didn’t even just burn it, you caught it on fire,” Thatcher yells through a mouthful of what you hoped was not the toast.
“Do you even see any food for us to eat?” you whisper to Quinn, trying to look over the boys shoulders for anything that seemed edible.
Quinn shakes his head, rolling his eyes as the boys continue. “Well whose idea was it to have me make toast?” Jake asks.
“We thought you were smart enough to use the toaster and not hold the bread over the open flame on the stove,” Petey mumbles, you and Quinn trying to hold back your laughter.
“So, where is the food that Y/N and I can eat?” Quinn asks, trying to get the boys’ attention.
“I think we ate it all,” Brock says, a smirk on his face.
“Then why did you come get us?” you ask him, clearly annoyed with him.
“We had to make sure you weren’t doing anything inappropriate behind that locked door of yours,” Brock says, the rest of the guys acting like children at the thought.
Quinn scoffs, walking towards the stairs, “Ok, one, no one talks like that, two, Y/N and I are going out for breakfast, anyone who wants to come, be ready in the next 15 minutes.”
You watch him leave, praying that someone else would get up to go get ready. “Looks like you’ve gotta go get ready for your breakfast date with your boy,” Brock teases, the boys now laughing at you. You hated that your feelings for Quinn were no secret. At least, it seems like it was known to everyone but him, but why did that matter?
“It is not a date,” you start, only to hear Jake yell, “yes it is,” behind you. You turn to him, pointing at him. “Remember that I played soccer growing up so I can kick you really hard if I have to,” you start, the smirk on his face changing to slight terror, “so if burning that toast didn’t kill you, I can.”
You turn on your heels to go get ready, even more nervous about going out with Quinn since Brock had to go and call it a date when Jake yells, “I didn’t mean to burn the toast!”
“You still did it, though,” you yell down, shutting the door behind you. You were panicked now, completely freaking out. As much as you told yourself it wasn’t a date, Brock’s annoying voice still rang through your ears, ‘your breakfast date with your boy.’ Fuck Brock. You start to change, realizing that Quinn could come out of the bathroom at any minute and see you half naked, more panic washing over you. You set your phone on the bed, grabbing clothes and try to figure out where to change. “Hey, Q? Can I get in the bathroom to change?”
He opens the door, no shirt on yet again. This was not fair. You weren’t even sure how you ended up having to share a room with him in the first place, let alone what you did to have him walk around shirtless every day. You practically run into the bathroom before you can do something stupid, shutting the door and leaning against it. You let out a deep sigh, saying, “Fuck,” in the breath, cursing who evers idea it was the bring you here and put you in this room instead of in one with Brock, or in one all on your own.
You shake your head of the thoughts of whatever he was doing out there. He was your friend, just like Brock was. Nothing more, nothing less. And you needed to be ready soon if you wanted to get breakfast since the idiots downstairs burned any semblance of what would be edible. You try to force any thoughts of Quinn from your mind, pulling on leggings and a sweater.
“Hey, Y/N?” you hear Quinn call, “You’re getting texts.”
You open the door, starting to brush your teeth as you call to him, “You know my passcode, who are they from?”
“Brock.”
You stop brushing, terror and an urge to murder him rushing through you. “What do they say?” you ask him, thankful you had your toothbrush in your mouth to cover up the anger that would otherwise be taking over your tone.
“‘We all know you two are going to date,’” he reads, “and ‘If you don’t kiss him tonight, I will.’” You were officially going to kill Brock. “Who are you going to date?”
You position yourself so you can see his reflection in the mirror of the bathroom. He was almost pouting, his eyebrows knit together in frustration. He wasn’t mad about those texts, was he? He didn’t know they were about him, right? “Uh, just this guy Brock and I know from home. He was joking about inviting him here tonight,” you lie to him, hoping he would buy it. He nods, scrunching his face up. “You know he’s not coming, right? I mean, he’d have to get here from Minnesota.”
He nods again, handing you your phone as you come out of the bathroom, letting you send a quick death threat text to Brock. “You ready?”
“Just need a coat,” you tell him. He takes your hand, leading you back down the stairs. You had to pass the kitchen to get out to the cars, passing the guys with your hand in Quinn’s.
Quinn stops without warning, you crashing into him in surprise. The guys gaze went to your hand in his, pretty much ignoring his words as he said, “So is anyone coming with us?” No one says anything, Brocks mouth falling open as he readjusts his hand in yours, clearly holding it tighter. The look on his face told you that you would not be living this down, forcing a mental note to turn your phone off as soon as you get in the car. “Awesome, text us if you need anything,” Quinn says, dragging you over to the door.
“Ok, your mood changed,” you point out, putting on your coat and practically running to catch up with Quinn at the car.
“No, it didn’t,” he snaps, getting in the car. You climb into the passenger seat next to him, looking at him stare at the steering wheel in front of him. He turns to look at you, his mouth in a thin line, “The boys are just annoying me lately, I don’t know.” You cock your eyebrow, telling him that you didn’t believe him. “Ok, fine,” he says, starting the car up, “They made me get on Tinder when I have no reason being on it and seeing Brock’s texts to you made me think about the texts they send to me about-” he rambles, cutting himself off. He looks out the window, turning his attention to the road in front of you.
“About who?” you ask. The boys wouldn’t tell him that you liked him, would they? They would have no reason to be trying to egg him on about asking you out, right? Then again, if Brock would do that to you, who’s to say that he wouldn’t also do it to his teammates who he easily had a closer relationship with and spent more time with.
“About the girls on Tinder,” he breathes out, you also letting the breath you had no idea you were holding in. Part of you wished he said you. At least that way you could get a read on what he thought about the idea of you two being together. If it was disgust then you could put the whole crush to rest.
“I mean, if it’s Brock, just point out that the only women in his life are his dogs, me, and his family,” you try to reassure him, pulling a laugh from his lips. “But he would also probably say that he’s fine with it, so you might have to think of something better.”
Quinn nods, a small smile on his face. You just wanted to know what was really going on inside his head, because what he told you was definitely not it. It’s not like you could pressure him about it, though. He wouldn’t answer you if you tried to get more out of him, so what was the point? The two of you drive the rest of the way in silence, finally finding a diner that you could find a parking spot in front of and walk in. At this point, both of you were starving, already praying that they had the classic breakfast food you could order as soon as the server would come over to you.
You were seated in a booth by the window, looking out across the street to a small pond that was now covered with ice thanks to the cold Vancouver winter. It had to be thick enough to withstand the weight, because you could see a who you assumed to be a father with his two little girls skating around on the ice. They looked like they were showing him some sort of figuring skating routine, the smaller girl raising her hands over her head in a ‘ta-da’ fashion, the dad lifting her off the ice and into the air, spinning her around before kissing her cheek and putting her back down to chase her sister. You couldn’t help but smile, completely forgetting about the menu in front of you.
“What are you thinking about?” Quinn asks, reaching across the table to touch your hand.
You barely even notice the warmth of his hand on yours, for some reason feeling all too comfortable by his touch, but you were lost in the memory and thoughts the scene on the pond had brought up. “Have you ever seen the movie ‘Holiday in Handcuffs’ with Mario Lopez and Melissa Joan Hart?”
“Nope,” he says, popping the ‘p’ at the end of the word, a smile on his face as he gets ready to listen to you.
“So, it is your classic tale of Stockholm Syndrome,” you say, both of you laughing, “But basically, she kidnaps him to impress her parents that she has this great boyfriend compared to her perfect brother and sister and they fall in love. There’s this one scene where they’re standing out on the back porch and she’s talking about how one Christmas Eve she had this big figure skating recital but it got cancelled because of a snow storm, so her dad made a rink in the backyard so she could perform it for them. Mario Lopez’s character surprises her the next morning by making an ice rink so they could skate around together.”
You look over at Quinn, not even realizing that you had been watching the dad and his daughters the entire time. He had this soft smile on his face, for a moment forgetting that you two were out in public until the waitress came over to take your order.
“Tell me more about this ice rink,” he asks you once she leaves.
All you can really do is shrug. “I don’t know. Him making the ice rink just seemed like such a romantic gesture. If a guy did that for me, I think I would melt,” you tell him.
“Just like the ice would,” Quinn jokes, leaning back as the waitress comes with your food.
“I hated that. I hated that so much,” you joke, both of you laughing as your phone buzzes on the table, interrupting whatever moment may or may not have been there. You sigh, seeing Brock’s name pop up yet again. He had to get tired of this constant teasing about you and Quinn at some point, right?
“Brock again?”
You throw your head back, letting out a groan that you hoped only Quinn could hear. “Since Jake burnt the toast this morning, he is now no longer allowed to make dinner tonight.”
“Tell them to order something then, we can pick it up?”
“Nope. Brock told the guys about the mac and cheese that I used to make when we were in high school and now they all want it. Something tells me there is virtually nothing in that house that lends itself to being mac and cheese.” Brock keeps sending more and more texts about how your ‘date’ is going with all the hand holding you two had to be doing, prompting none other than an eye roll from you as you shove your phone in your coat pocket. “So now I need to get to the store at some point.”
Quinn looks at the window, watching the father pick up his daughters and carry them to his car. He smiles, turning back to you, “When we’re done, do you think Brock can take you? I have to take care of something.”
“Uh, sure?” you say in response, texting Brock to pick you up from the diner. Quinn’s mood shifted, becoming much more animated than he had been earlier. He kept looking between you and the frozen pond, the smile never leaving his face.
He doesn’t stop talking the rest of breakfast, paying and leaving as soon as Brock pulls up to take you to the store. “So how was the date?” Brock smirks as soon as your door is closed, watching Quinn practically sprint to his car and drive off.
“If you keep this up then you aren’t going to see the New Year,” you threaten.
“We all know you two are going to get together, we just don’t know why you haven’t acted on it.”
“What was at the house from the recipe I sent you?” you ask him, praying that he’ll drop the subject.
“Nothing and you aren’t dodging this subject.”
“You don’t even have milk?”
“You saw what breakfast was this morning. And since you won’t admit the obvious here, we have a plan for tonight.”
Nothing good could come of those words. You knew Brock well enough to know that any plan he came up with would end in disaster. And his teammates were just an extension of his idiocy. “Please don’t. If you love me at all you will not do anything,” you beg him.
“I never said I was going to do anything,” he teases. You glare at him, only resulting in him laughing at you as he pulls into a grocery store.
You let out a deep breath, knowing today was going to be a long day. “Get flour and salt and then whatever else you guys want for food. You’re paying,” you tell him, practically running into the store just to get away from him. There was no way you were going to spend the entire time being heckled about the crush you didn’t want to have in the first place. It’s not like it was reciprocated, anyway. You could feel your phone buzzing in your pocket, dreading what Brock was texting you. ‘Do me a favor: grab your favorite wine and those sugar cookies you like.’ came from Jake.
You would be lying if you said you weren’t surprised it came from him instead of Quinn, but who were you to judge? ‘Can I ask why?’
‘Just want to make tonight special ;)’
Don’t like that.
You shake it off, debating on even getting what he asked you for. Why would Jake ask you to get your favorite stuff? That seemed so out of character for him, at least in his interactions with you. You grab what you need for the mac and cheese, not even sure how much you should make considering how many boys were there in the house. You wander off to find Brock, praying that he actually got what you need. “This is not where you find flour.” He turns around, holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers, including the wine and cookies Jake had texted you to grab. “When I said flour this is not what I meant. What are you doing?”
“Jake wanted me to make sure I got these for you,” he tells you, handing them over to you.
You stare at him for a minute, your face scrunched. This had to be part of whatever scheme they were planning to get you and Quinn together. No part of you wanted their meddling, but you knew that the more you tried to fight it, the worse it was going to end up for you. “How long would I be in jail if I just killed you all?”
“A few life sentences depending on how many murders you committed,” he shrugs, walking away from you.
You didn’t even want to talk to him at this point, pissed off at the fact that they were all scheming against your wishes. You grab what you need, including some stuff for baking, figuring the longer you kept yourself busy, the less likely you were to to harm the idiots you were spending time with.
“You bought apple cider and cream cheese for mac and cheese?” Brock questions, holding up the gallon at check out.
“Apple cider no, one of the cream cheeses, yes. You wanted me to make mac and cheese, let me make mac and cheese. I was gonna make apple cider cupcakes for everyone.”
The two of you get back to the house, which was strangely quiet considering how many of the guys were there. You start getting to work on the cupcakes, figuring it was too early to start dinner. You get out everything the real owners of the house had to bake with, figuring that you could focus on this instead of whatever bullshit was going to face you that night.
You get lost in baking, measuring and mixing when you hear footsteps coming down the stairs. You didn’t care who it was, as long as it wasn’t Brock.
“Need help?”
You look up to see Jake leaning against the counter, his head resting in his hand. “After you caught the toast on fire this morning, I don’t think so.”
The two of you laugh, falling into a conversation. Of all of Brock’s teammates, you probably had spent the least amount of time with Jake. It was nice; he was weirdly easy to talk to, somewhat flirty if you were reading him right. If he was showing interest in you when Quinn wasn’t, who cared?
“Can I at least help with the frosting? I can’t burn that,” he begs, coming up right next to you. He juts out his bottom lip, batting his eyes as you stand there with the bowl, knowing that you didn’t want to whip the frosting yourself.
You let out a deep sigh, handing him the whisk, “Fine. Get the cream cheese soft and then add in that vanilla and the powdered sugar.” He gets to work, you hopping up to sit on the counter next to him while the cupcakes are in the oven. “Why did you ask me to get my favorite stuff at the store?”
He shrugs, a smirk on his face while he continues to whip the cream cheese. “You put up with us teasing you about Quinn so I figured you could use something that you enjoyed.” You can’t help but smile at his words, not even getting the chance to say anything before he continues, “So who are you kissing tonight?”
“What?”
“It’s New Years Eve. Who are you kissing at midnight?”
You sit up a little straighter at his question, not even thinking about it before. “I don’t know.”
Jake stops whisking, the sound of another set of footsteps coming down the stairs. “Would you mind if I kissed you then?” You sit there for a moment, shocked. He knew you liked Quinn, right? You start to stammer out an answer, none of it coherent when he turns his attention from you to whoever just came into the kitchen. “Unless there was someone else Y/N should be kissing tonight, Quinn?”
You twist around to see Quinn turning red, looking at you sitting so close to Jake, your leg obviously touching his side with the way you were twisted. “I don’t know why you would be asking me that,” he seethes, going over to the now beeping oven. “Want me to take these out?”
You nod, hopping off the counter to check if they were done, putting the first batch on top of the stove to cool, the next batch in to bake. “So, Y/N. You and me kissing at midnight, then?”
You stand up, your back towards both of them. If Quinn had wanted to kiss you, then he would have said something. “I guess so, Jake,” you say, going back over to him to help him with the frosting.
Quinn stands there, not sure what to do. There was no way you could be kissing his teammate tonight. He opens his phone, storming off before you could get the chance to ask him what was wrong.
Jake eventually leaves you once the cupcakes are done, leaving you to start the mac and cheese the boys wanted. You start making the roux when you hear the front door slam, someone’s overly obnoxious laugh floating through the house. Whoever it was came into the kitchen, startling you while you were starting the melt down the cubes of cream cheese.
“Hi!” comes from behind you, an overly peppy high pitched voice, a skinny redhead appearing in the doorway. “I’m Katie!”
You had no idea who this was, looking past her to see Quinn behind the two of you, nervous and practically shaking. “She’s my date for tonight.”
“Oh!” you let out, turning the burner down and putting down the whisk. “I had no idea you were bringing a date! I’m Y/N,” you tell her, feeling less and less bad about agreeing to kiss Jake tonight.
“What are you doing?” she asks, practically on top of you.
“Making the roux for the mac and cheese tonight.”
“Rue? I thought that was when you made someone regret something. You know, like in iCarly?”
You turn to her, doing everything in your power to not burst out laughing at her reference. You swear you could hear Quinn muttering something under his breath, his head in his hands as he leaned against the counter. “That’s r-u-e, I’m making a r-o-u-x. It’s the base for the cheese part of mac and cheese.” She cocks her head to the side, looking between you and the pot on the stove. “You know, I think some of the guys are out on the porch with some beer, you should go join them,” you suggest.
“Ok!’ she says, bouncing away.
You turn to Quinn, your eyes wide and a mocking smile covering your face. “Well she’s just adorable. Where did you find her?” You knew you were being petty, but no part of you cared.
“Tinder,” Quinn mumbles.
“Come here,” you tell him, handing him a spoon to start stirring the pasta. “Why did you find a date all of a sudden?”
“Well who am I supposed to kiss at midnight now that you’re kissing Jake?” he snaps, some of the pasta water flying away from you.
“Brock?” you joke, earning a scoff from him. “Who did you intend on kissing? Me?”
He stares at the pot of water, shaking his head, “I guess I’m not now.” He puts the spoon down, leaving you stunned at the stove while he goes out with the rest of the guys. There was no way he wanted to kiss you that night. You couldn’t believe it. There was no way. You shake off the thought, finishing up the mac and cheese as the guys start coming in to ask where the food was.
Everyone sits around the table like they were this morning, Katie talking everyone’s ear off about something you weren’t paying attention to. Elias was sitting right next to her, looking like he was plotting her murder with every passing second. If she went missing that night, he was the first one you were going to blame.
“Hey,” Jake nudges you in the shoulder, taking you away from the trance you set yourself into, “You ok?”
“Yeah, just kinda tired. Someone woke me up with the smoke alarm again,” you tease, pulling a laugh from him. “I think I’m just going to go up stairs to mine and Quinn’s room.” You get up, Jake the only one seeming to notice that you were leaving the rest of the group.
You must have actually fallen asleep, awaken by someone pounding on the other side of the door. “It’s open,” you say, fumbling around to turn on the light.
Quinn opens the door slowly, poking his head in like he was afraid to see you. “It’s almost midnight. Are you gonna join?”
You nod, getting up to follow him down the stairs. The two of you reach the door to the backyard, Quinn stopping in front of you, bending down to grab the pair of ice skates that were by the door. “You’ll need these,” he smiles, taking your hand.
“What is this?” you ask when he opens the door, the guys playing a pick up game on a sheet of ice on the lawn.
“You said you thought it was romantic when a guy made his girl an ice rink in her back yard. So I made one for you,” he says, looking down at his feet, his face turning red.
“What? I have so many questions.”
He laughs, sitting down to put his own pair of skates on, you following suit. “Katie is with Jake right now, probably doing things that we don’t want to know about. Turns out the guys used Jake as a ploy to get me to finally ask you out, so when I figured that out, I asked Katie over so Jake could have someone to occupy him.”
“You want to ask me out?” you ask, not hiding the smile on your face.
“Oh, you are so oblivious,” he groans, a smile on his face, as well. “Of course I do.”
He picks you up to step on the ice, off to the side where the guys weren’t playing. Brock gets the puck past Thatcher, his hands in the air in celebration when Elias yells, “15 seconds!”
The guys start counting down to the new year, your heart racing with each second as Quinn’s hands wrap around your waist. “Would you rather have me or Jake?”
“Ten! Nine! Eight!”
“You really have to ask?”
“Seven! Six! Five!”
“Yes.”
“Four! Three! Two!”
You can’t help but roll your eyes, Quinn’s face centimeters from yours, your foreheads pressed against each other. “You.”
“One!” the guys around you yell once Quinn’s lips connect with yours, everything around you melting away.
“Happy new year, Y/N,” he whispers once he pulls away, stealing another quick kiss before the guys can pull you away from each other.
“Happy new year, Quinn.”

Full metal jacket preference~ The boys with an s/o who has an ex that stalks them
(A combination of my gifs and other peoples)(Requested by anonymous)
(Hope you enjoy the blogs first preference post! <3)
Tumblr media
Joker~
When you first tell James about the situation with your ex, he sort of thinks you’re joking. It certainly wouldn’t be out of place in your relationship. He figures its an “oh, yeah, my ex is stalking me” as in he’s still got a thing for you and is trying to strategically find himself at the right place in the right time in hopes that you’ll talk to him.
Once he can see that you’re completely serious, his smile somewhat drops as well. For a while, he’ll remain humorous (i.e. trying to cheer you up and make you smile while you deal with the mess) but understanding; not wanting to freak you out even more by making it a whole big thing. He tells you to give him a call whenever you want him to stay over and that he’ll handle things as soon as he can. The next time he has the chance, he’ll have a little conversation with your ex.
James certainly has no problem standing up to or for people, and on top of that, he’s completely willing to use violence or his smart mouth to scare them off so expect an altercation of some sort when he finally spots the dickhead who’s been making your life difficult.
You’ll either wait for him to be finished or gratefully pull him away yourself before he has the chance to really mess the guy up. Once he’s calmed himself down, he’ll make a joke about being your knight in shining armor with a smile, chuckling as you roll your eyes and pull him in for a kiss.
Just Beware, from that day forward, he’ll get almost smug any time he see’s your ex in public.
Tumblr media
Cowboy~
Robert is; more or less, a bit more logical/mature with his attempts at diffusing the situation although it does depend on the extent of which this guy is bothering you and the responses you get. He’s more patient, giving the police a chance to do something before he takes matters into his own hands, though he certainly stays close to your side during that time.
He definitely goes full handy man on your ass and installs extra locks and alarms on your house and out of all the guys, he’s one of the most comforting. He’a a hugger so the instant you seem frightened, he’ll pull you close and assure you everything’s alright.
If the authorities™ aren’t going to do anything about it then you bet your ass he will. He’s a proud Texan and has that “if you fuck with my stuff, I will blow you away” type of mentality that most; conservative, gun owning southerners have.
He won’t go out to hunt your ex but he’ll wait for him to come to the two of you and make a good show of sitting on your porch with a sawed off shotgun in hand and a scowl on his face.
Tumblr media
Animal mother~
Animal Mother is borderline feral when it comes to his “territory”. The instant he hears about someone bothering you, he’s fully prepared to teach them a very painful, possibly lethal lesson. There’s not even any waiting until they come around themselves; he’s going to go out and find them.
He doesn’t find it funny at all; not on the inside at least. He might act like your ex amuses him; most likely to his face to show that he isn't scared of him, but in actuality he’s pissed. He’s two seconds away from throwing a punch at any given moment so if you don’t want that to be the outcome of their confrontation, you’ll have to try very hard to pull him away. He’s definitely the guy who scares off your ex the quickest and most effectively.
He’ll never admit to it, but a part of him is almost proud of the predicament. He certainly isn’t happy that this guy is harassing you but he feels proud over the fact that he’s the one who has you; the girl that's so desperately sought after by this guy that he’d go to such great lengths to get close to you again.
Though I should warn you, depending on the situation and how you explain it, the whole ordeal may make him a bit suspicious of you; at least at first. He’ll wonder why this guy isn’t leaving you alone and if you could possibly be trying to play him for a fool. We know Animal Mother isn’t the brightest or most sensitive of the bunch so don’t hold it too much against him. Once he sees how much the mans stalking is bothering you, he’ll drop those ugly thoughts and trust you completely.
Tumblr media
Eightball~
Alice has got a surprisingly short temper, especially when he’s being personally insulted. And when someone messes with you, he takes that as a personal attack on him. If he has the chance to confront your ex then he’ll do it, most likely scaring him off with his brutal words before he even throws a punch.
He insists on being your escort, driving you to work, staying at your place when you want him to or when he feels like there's a need. He’ll magically seem to show up at the right place at the right time, a snarky somewhat nonchalant comment leaving his lips as he intercepts your ex and gets you behind him. He’ll try and play it cool but if the guy isn’t standing down, he’ll drop the smile and use some intimidation.
He’ll make it very clear that you’ve moved on and if he doesn’t too, he’ll be missing a few teeth the next time he comes around you. He’s sorta cocky as your ex stalks off but you can’t bring yourself to be annoyed by his smug smile, not after he just scared off the bane of your existence.
Tumblr media
Crazy Earl~
Earl has the ability to remain oddly calm no matter what’s going on around him. So when you tell him that your ex is stalking you, he listens carefully, nodding along before asking you what you’d like him to do in the most earnest voice you’ve ever heard. He’s willing to do whatever you want him to, all you have to do is ask.
Another important thing about Earl: he’s sorta strange. He thinks violence is fun and dark subjects like stalking interest him. He’s a weird guy so if your ex and him ever had an actual conversation, the guy would probably leave you alone on account of you dating a lunatic.
On that note, he’s more than happy to talk to your ex for you. He’ll confront him and; at first, try to be levelheaded albeit in his own strange way. He’s sort of just weirdly intimidating in general so even though he’s trying to talk to the guy like a normal person, he’s probably giving off serious serial killer vibes the entire time.
If things go south, or if he feels his message isn’t coming across clear enough, he’ll get violent …but in a calm way. He’ll beat your ex boyfriends ass but it’s as though he’s an outsider in the situation and isn’t personally invested in it. …Like I said, he’s strange.
Once he’s finished “talking”, he’ll return to your side and give you a kiss on the head, silently assuring you that you’re not going to be bothered again.
Tumblr media
Rafterman~
Although Rafterman likes to think of himself as a tough guy who isn’t scared by any man, he really isn’t very confrontational. If it really came down to it then he could certainly hold his own or get physical but he tries his best to avoid that. Instead, he’ll go with you to get a restraining order, install locks and alarms at your place or have you stay with him so that you feel more safe, but he isn’t really eager to go out and fight your ex.
He’ll make it very clear that you’re together when you’re out in public and walk you wherever you need to go so that he doesn’t have as many chances as getting close to you. If he’s forced to or he’s had enough then he’ll talk to the guy himself, telling him that he’s freaking you out and that he needs to leave you alone.
Once he’s finished threatening the guy, he’ll come back to you sort of jittery though the kiss you give him calms his nerves and fills him with pride. He tries to act like he wasn’t nervous but you know he was and find it both cute and sweet.
Tumblr media
Sgt Gunnery~
Oh he’ll handle it. Handle it with a beer and shotgun pointed at the maggots face.
It’s quite literally Gunnery’s job to put people in their place so obviously he’ll be quite efficient in his attempts at getting the boy to leave you alone. In fact, it’s very likely that the instant your ex see’s him, he’ll just book it the other way. Everyone in your town knows about the man and what he does for a living so it’s very rare that anyone messes with him; at least not on purpose.
If your ex doesn’t immediately run away with his tail between his legs then it’s probably because he doesn’t know who he is. And when I tell you he learns fast, he learns fast. It takes all of two second for your darling drill instructor to land a blow to the boys stomach and verbally tear him in two. Obviously, after that, your ex boyfriend won’t be too keen on getting close to you anymore.
Overall, Gunnery takes the situation very seriously and assures you that he won’t let anything happen to you. He’ll most likely teach you some self defense as well, or at the very least get you a can of mace and tell you to give him a call if anything happens, no matter how small.
Tumblr media
Pyle~
Leonard's a lover, not a fighter. To be entirely honest, he’s sort of useless in this situation. The only thing Leonard can really do is scare him off with his size/looks alone and get him to back off since it’s obvious that you’ve found someone else.
I suppose that if it really came down to it, he could fight but merely because he could use his weight to his advantage. He’s not particularly well spoken or coordinated but he could throw a mean right hook if need be.
Mostly, Leonard's good for comfort. If you’re scared or upset than he’s a shoulder to cry and and arms to be held by. He may not be able to get your ex to stop but he’ll still be able to make you feel more safe and less alone.

BE MY DATE
*I am having doubts to post this because I’m not really sure if someone will like it, but here I am trying my luck. 😊
Oh my, T.T I’m sooooo nervous...! 😳
*Disclaimer: Fairy Tail, and the characters are owned by Hiro Mashima.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"How about the girl yesterday?", Natsu asked his raven-haired friend.
Natsu and Lucy are getting married in two months, and they are very excited for that day to come. However, they don't want their friend to be alone in their special day. Yes, all their friends will be there, but it is different for Gray. So, they've been suggesting some girls for him that he can bring as his date for their wedding day.
The wedding they wanted was just a simple ceremony, where only their family and friends are the only ones who will join them. Lucy invited some of her close friends at work and Natsu did the same.
Gray rolled his eyes, "Can both of you stop it already? I told you. I'm fine going there by myself, and I don't have a plan to see that girl from yesterday again.". Gray grabbed his glass then gulped the beer in one go.
Natsu and Lucy looked at each other for a few seconds then back to Gray. "Why? What happened?', Natsu curiously asked.
"Nothing. We just don’t get along so well.", Gray coldly responded.
"Again?", Lucy said annoyingly with her arms crossed. "You are always giving us the same reason over and over again with the girls that we introduced to you, or to the other girls you just met.". She sighed, "Don't tell me you haven't moved on with ---."
Natsu suddenly held Lucy's hand and she looked at him. Natsu stopped Lucy from continuing her words because he noticed that Gray was now getting irritated. Lucy looked back at Gray and she realized why her fiancé did that.
Last year, Gray broke up with his ex-girlfriend after being in a relationship for two years because she just decided to end their relationship without talking to him. Then, two months after he saw her being intimate with someone else. He was so furious, and about to confront them, but Natsu stopped him for making a scene in public.
Gray knew that it was his faults that their relationship ended, but she should've talk to him and fix everything, or maybe end it in a good way.
He moved on alright, but he just don't want to bring up that topic anymore or talk about it.
Lucy rested her arms on the table. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that."
Gray gave Lucy a half-smile then nodded. "It's fine. Let's drop it already. And ---", raised his hand. "For the last time, I'll be fine."
"We know that, but of course, we want you to enjoy life. You are always working, always busy. We had to drag you here for you to hang out with us. And maybe… just maybe it is time for you to be in a relationship again. You know?", Lucy worriedly told it to her friend in front of her.
Gray lowered his head as a sign of surrendering. He knew that Lucy will not stop bugging him unless he will bring a date on their wedding. They've been having this conversation since the couple announced their plan of getting married to all of their friends five months ago.
Natsu laughed while looking at his defeated friend that was being pestered by his fiancé.
"Let him breath, Luce. He'll find someone.", Natsu said while softly patting Lucy's shoulder.
Lucy gave up for now. She leaned her back on her chair backrest then once again crossed her arms, "Okay, I'll let it slide this time."
"Oh mavis, thank you!", Gray threw his fist in the air celebrating his freedom, but he knew that Lucy will continue bugging him about it. His friends meant well when they were introducing some girls to him, but he got tired for doing the same process. Telling their names, work, hobby, and sometimes he had to make some excuses so he can't go to that date they planned for him.
He is freaking Gray Fullbuster. A handsome man, smart, wealthy, a heartthrob since high school until now. Girls easily falls for him, but he is not a type of a guy who uses those traits to get a girl. Okay, maybe sometimes when he feels like it. But he can meet and date someone without a help from his friends. He was only agreeing so they can stop annoying him, and to be honest, he's not thinking of being in a relationship again. Not now.
>>><<<
A week after, Gray was sitting in a private room at the bar with Natsu and Lucy again with their other friends to celebrate the birthday of Loke. As usual, they had to force him again to come out from his hive. He's satisfied enough with a beer on his hand and maybe after an hour or two he'll drive back home. But he then noticed that one of their friends haven't arrived yet.
"Where is Cana?", he asked while looking between Natsu and Lucy.
"She's on her way here with Juvia.", Lucy responded. "Oh! I invited her Loke. Is that okay? You all have met her 2 weeks ago in our company retreat, right? And she is also invited in our wedding."
"The beautiful blue-haired sexy-as hell-shy girl?", Lucy frowned on how Loke describe her friend from work. "Uhm, yeah… that is her." Lucy glared at Loke. "Do you really need to describe her like that?"
"Why? I'm just telling the truth, and FYI, I'm not the one who came up with that words.", Loke defensively explained.
"Who did?", Erza joined the conversation. Loke gulped when he heard Erza's voice then he nervously turned his head to Gray's direction. Erza and Lucy frowned staring at Gray while Natsu was laughing his heart out.
"Gray?", Lucy questionably looked at her black-haired friend, but he averted his eyes to somewhere else.
Juvia. A very familiar name that he heard for so many times in one day, and when Lucy mentioned the name, a beautiful blue-haired sexy-as hell-shy girl appeared in his mind. She became the topic of Natsu, Loke, and Gray the day after the retreat when they were in the bar. He really did describe her like that, and both Natsu and Loke teased him about it. Saying that he likes her. Gray didn't deny, but he told to his two friends to keep it a secret, but thanks to Loke who ruined it.
The moment his eyes laid on Juvia at the retreat, he was already captivated by her. He liked the color of her hair, her pale skin that shines under the sun, and the shy smile that she was showing to anyone that talked to her. He tried to focus on something else or someone else, but his gaze kept on going back to the beautiful blue-haired girl.
He wanted and tried to talk to her, but never got a chance because she was always being pulled by her co-workers, especially men. They were flirting with her, and it was obvious that she was uncomfortable. She had to excuse herself, and sometimes Lucy had to drag her away from them.
He'd noticed that some guys were checking her out and were trying to get her attention. He even saw Loke naughtily staring at her too. What a player. He then realized that he was not different with those guys and Loke because he was doing the same thing. Hey, he is a guy and it is normal to be attracted with a woman with a nice body and she totally has one. She was not wearing revealing clothes, but it was still showing her perfect curves.
When she finally joined Lucy on the table, the blonde girl introduced Juvia to her friends. And Gray had a chance to look at her up-close. Damn! She is really beautiful. The very first words he said in his mind. Their eyes met a few times, but she was always the first one to look away while showing a pink tint on her cheeks. He found her cute and interesting.
He didn't understand himself why he chickened out to talk to her that day. He got his own ways to get a girl; easy and fast. But he can't find any reason why he wasn't able to do it with Juvia.
"Why is she with Cana?", Loke asked after taking a sip on his beer.
"Those two.", Lucy chuckled. "They've gotten closer after the retreat. I can't believe they did because we all know that Cana is wild and free, unlike Juvia who is quiet and shy. They are really opposite, but Cana said she really likes her."
"I like her too.", all eyes stared at Erza, and she frowned in confusion. "What? She's sweet, she has a funny side that I found cute, and the way she talks, it's adorable. She is a unique girl, and I want her to be my friend too."
The way she talks… Gray secretly smiled remembering the woman who speaks in third person. Erza is right. She really is a unique girl. She's the only person he heard talking like that. It was weird at first, but when he kept on hearing her sweet voice. It didn't matter anymore. He liked it and can't wait to hear her voice again.
>>><<<
"Hello bitches!", the door swung open revealing the person they've been waiting for. Cana excitedly entered the room then greeting each of her friends with a tight hug.
"What took you so long?", Natsu asked while receiving the hug from Cana.
"Oh… I went shopping, and it was really hard to find this perfect dress.", she proudly turned around to show off her tight black sexy dress.
"We are celebrating my birthday though, unless you forgot.", Loke handed her a glass of wine.
Cana took the wine then sat beside Lucy, "I didn’t honey, but I have a date later, so ---", winked sexily at Loke.
Loke rolled his eyes, Natsu and Lucy smiled, Erza just shook her head, but the other person inside the room couldn’t care less. He was so happy deep inside when Cana showed up, and immediately looked at the door expecting other person to appear, but no one came in until the door shut closed. He wanted to ask Cana, but he didn't want to receive any teasing from his friends tonight, so he chose to stay quiet.
"Where is Juvia?", at last! Thank you, Lucy. Gray thanked his blonde friend secretly for finally asking. He looked at Cana and anxiously waiting for an answer.
Cana sipped on her glass before answer, "She run into someone on our way here, and told me to go first, but she'll be here soon."
Gray finally relaxed knowing that she was really here, but he was getting impatient because he really wanted to see her now.
"Someone I know too?", Lucy curiously asked. "Nope, I don't think so. It was a girl. Although, guys are probably lining themselves right now at her for what she is wearing tonight.", she laughed.
Gray abruptly stood up making his friends confusingly looked at him. He cleared his throat and finding an excuse to tell them. "Uhm, restroom…", he simply said then began walking towards the door.
Gray stretched his hand to open the door, but someone already did it for him. He froze from where he was standing staring at the woman he's been itching to see and can't even stop himself for checking her out. She was looking so damn hot with the light blue short dress she was wearing; different from the last time he saw her. The dress was embracing her curves, his eyes trailed down on her revealing cleavage that was popping up and down as she breaths. Why is she panting? And her legs that also didn’t prevent him to examine. Those nice long legs.
"Juvia!", Gray got lost in his thoughts when Cana and Lucy shouted her name. He looked at her, meeting her midnight blue eyes. "Gray! Let her in!", he stepped away when he heard Erza quietly shouted at him. "My bad. Uhm, excuse me.", he passed by Juvia and left the room.
"Damn Juvia babe, you are looking good today."
"See I told you. She is stunning…"
"You really are Juvia…"
Gray heard all the compliments his friends was saying to the girl who just arrived.
"Juvia is a bit uncomfortable though ---"
He had heard her sweet voice again, but when the door finally closes, he took a last look at the door before walking to the restroom.
Inside the private room, Juvia was sitting between Lucy and Loke, and they were having a conversation. But she kept on looking at the door, thinking about the raven-haired man who hadn't returned yet.
Gray-sama. She blushed when she said his name inside her mind. Then the memory of the retreat went back recalling the moment her eyes landed on him. He was wearing a plain black long sleeve shirt, demin pants, and a white rubber shoes. Simple, but so handsome. He was just quietly sitting on the table with Lucy and their friends, busy drinking his beer.
She was in-demand that day, praising her for doing a great job organizing the retreat with two of her co-workers, but Juvia mostly did the job. It was well-planned and done professionally. She was really tired but didn't want to be rude when her co-workers or even the bosses were talking to her. Yet, her eyes were still taking some quick peek to the most handsome man she found in the event.
She was getting uncomfortable when some of the guys from her work were asking her out. She knew them being a womanizers', so she was avoiding them as much as possible. She doesn’t want her name to be put in their lists, and she is not that type of a girl. They have looks, but not her type.
When she finally had time to breath, Lucy pulled her into their table and introduced her to the people surrounding the table. Staring at Gray from a far was enough for her, but her being in the same table with him was too much. Her heart was beating so fast, and she can feel her cheeks getting warmer every time she and Gray were meeting each other's eyes.
She was having the same feeling now that she was in the same place with Gray again. Although, he's not returning yet. She quite missed his presence.
>>><<<
The small room was filled with laughter's, stories being shared, and just enjoying the birthday celebration of Loke. The first time Juvia spent her time with Lucy's friend she felt really comfortable and she was glad she came along. She was engaged in a conversation with Lucy, Erza, and Cana. She was really having a great time, and really enjoying the company of the people inside the room.
All of them were laughing with the jokes that Loke had been telling them, but they stopped when the door suddenly opened then all eyes were looking at Gray who just came back.
"What took you so long ice prick?!", Natsu asked.
"It is nothing that you need to know.", Gray responded coldly.
"Being grumpy again, aren't we Mr. Fullbuster?", Cana said in a teasing way.
Gray rolled his eyes and about to sat on the chair near him, but Loke stopped him and pulled him to sit beside him. That made him settle between Loke and Juvia. His arm brushed against Juvia's, but he didn’t forget to apologize which she shyly accepted.
"You don't have that with you earlier.", Erza pointing the blazer he was holding.
"It's chilly in here.", he said while putting the blazer on and being careful not to bump Juvia again.
Natsu smirked, "That's new. What happened to "cold never bother you anyway", huh?"
"Just shut up.", Gray leaned forward to get his glass of beer then made himself comfortable on his chair.
The celebration continued, Loke and Natsu started their battle in a drinking game. Lucy was cheering her fiancé while Cana was doing the same with Loke, and Erza was busy talking to someone on the phone.
Gray shook his head, didn't want to know why he was in the same room with his idiotic friends doing some silly game, but he didn't miss a single chance to take a glance at the blue-haired girl beside him. She was smiling and giggling while watching Natsu and Loke having their best time of the night.
They haven't said a single word to each other since Gray got back from the "restroom" beside from saying sorry when he accidentally bumped her shoulder earlier, and that was an hour ago, but Gray kept noticing something about her. Like, she doesn't like drinking much because she barely touched her drink, but he can tell that she was already intoxicated; she is a lightweight drinker. She probably likes Nachos because that's the only snacks she's been eating. She smiles a lot and can really handle a conversation so well for someone who is a shy person like her, maybe because she's already used of dealing with people. Lastly, she was uncomfortable with the dress she's wearing because she kept on fixing her dress from top to bottom.
That's the reason why he had his blazer when he got back. When he heard her saying she was uncomfortable, he just walked out from the bar then went straight where he parked his car. It was like his subconscious spoke in his behalf.
Erza had joined the drinking game, and she was playing it with Cana. Juvia leaned forward to get another piece of Nachos, but she was not the only one who is doing the same thing. Gray reached for a piece as well, both stopped and looked at each other, but Juvia back away immediately.
"Juvia is sorry. Gray-sama can have some first."
Gray frowned after hearing the way she called him. What did she just call me? Juvia was staring him, waiting for him to get a nacho, but he was just stuck in his position.
"Gray-sama?", Juvia called him while looking at him with her big midnight blue eyes.
He cleared his throat then leaned back and fixed himself. "No, it’s okay. You go first."
She nodded, "Thank you." She reached for the nachos then happily ate it.
Gray was watching her enjoying the piece on her hand and he can't help himself from smiling.
"You really like that, huh?", Juvia quickly turned her head at Gray, thinking if he was really talking to her. But her thoughts vanished when she realized that Gray's eyes were secured on her while wearing a smile. So handsome.
Juvia slightly shook her head, removing the thoughts of melting in front of Gray because of his attractive, and sexy smile.
"It's one of Juvia's favorite...", took another piece of nachos and dipped it into its sauce. Gray watched her taking satisfaction in the snacks she's been eating.
"I can tell.", he smirked. Juvia looked at him with confusion. He then realized what he said. She must be thinking that I've been watching her. Well, that was really what he was doing, but he didn't want her to get a wrong idea.
He cleared his throat then looked at Juvia, "It's just --- it isn’t hard not to notice."
"Gray-sama was watching Juvia?", she said with a disgusting look.
"What? No, no, not like that. I'm not --- I'm not watching you…", Juvia giggled by Gray being all defensive.
"Juvia is just kidding Gray-sama." Her laughter continued, so natural when talking to him. Maybe the alcohol helped, or maybe she was just really feeling comfortable with the people surrounding her. Gray's lips curved into smile, and their conversation grew. They didn’t even notice that their friends were watching them.
Their friends looked at each other then back to the two persons who seemed busy with each other's company. Lucy who kept on pushing Gray to have a date on her wedding day stared at her fiancé and gave him a mischievous smile which Natsu already understands.
Erza gestured to her friends to leave the two alone and have their time to get to know each other which they all nodded and go on with what they were doing.
>>><<<
It was getting late, but the birthday celebration was far from over. What happened of going home in an hour or two, Gray?
Being in their own world and still not minding the other people inside the room, Gray and Juvia already shared a lot of things to each other. Gray is not usually the one who talk much. His friends know that, and if he was in a blind date, the girl was mostly doing the talking, yet with Juvia; it’s different. Good different.
"Is that Gray-sama's favorite? Juvia haven't tried it yet, but Juvia would like too if Gray-sama will be the one taking her." she shyly smiled, but her smile vanished seconds after she realized what she said. Gray-sama must be thinking that Juvia is flirting with him. What an idiot! Juvia internally smacked her head for saying those words.
Meanwhile, Gray was caught off guard after hearing her invitation. He blinked for a second, wasn't expecting from a shy girl like her to casually ask him out. But he smiled right away, liking the idea of him spending a day with Juvia.
"Uhm, Juvia… Juvia doesn't…doesn't mean it like that. What she meant was, Gray-sama can… can tell Juvia where to buy one, and… and she will try it. Yeah, that's what she meant.", she exhaled then smile awkwardly, trying to sound convincing, but Gray was just smiling at her for getting flustered.
Gray sat properly then loosened his tie, returning his gaze to Juvia. "What is the point of telling it to you if I can take you there by myself?", his sexy voice gave Juvia chills. Her cheeks became crimson red, eyes widen while looking at the handsome man beside her.
She wanted to say something, but no words are coming out. She was stuck and just having an eye contact with Gray whose smile didn't went away.
Their little time of staring at each other got interrupted when they both heard someone cleared their throat and when they both turned their head, Loke and Natsu were standing in front of them with their arms crossed.
"We are not ruining something in here, are we?", Loke said while smiling playfully and looking at Gray.
Gray wanted to punch Loke and Natsu in their stomach right now for disturbing his pleasant moment with Juvia. He quickly went back to his old self the moment he looked at his "good-for-nothing" friends.
"What do you want?", his voice changed as well. Natsu and Loke knew that he was pissed, but of course, they didn't care. They even liked it.
"We're going to change location.", Loke said.
Then Natsu glanced at Juvia then back to Gray. "You two still like to join us, or ---?", the pink-haired man mischievously smiled at Gray that seemed like he was telling something to him which the raven-haired man understands immediately.
Juvia checked the time using her phone, and Gray averted his attention back to her. Then Juvia looked up meeting his eyes, immediately knew that something was troubling her by her wearing a frown on her face.
"What's wrong?", he worriedly asked.
Juvia gave everyone an apologetic smile then put his phone back inside her bag. "Juvia is sorry everyone, but she can't no longer join, and she needs to go now."
Disappointment showed in their faces, especially the man beside her. Gray was really having a good time talking to her and wanted to spend more time with her, but of course she must have a valid reason why she needed to go.
"Oh right!", everyone looked at Lucy. "You need to go the airport early in the morning tomorrow to see your brother."
Juvia nodded with a smile, "That is right, but Juvia still wanted to join you guys. If isn't because of her ---."
"It's alright Juvia. We can still hang out next time. No worries.". Erza winked then sweetly smiling at her. Juvia nodded with a same smile she received from Erza. She stood up, placing the strap of her bag on her shoulder. "Juvia had a great time. Thank you so much for inviting her." She then faced Loke, "Happy Birthday Loke-san."
Loke happily gave her a grin and waved at her, the other did the same as well, except one. Juvia said her final goodbye to her newfound friends, but before exiting the room she looked at Gray, but he just gave her half smile.
>>><<<
Juvia was standing outside the bar, waiting for a taxi. She left 10 minutes ago, but she was still at the place where she had spent a great time with her new friends, and with a certain someone.
She kept on looking back at the entrance of the bar. Arguing with herself whether to go back inside or not. She even gave Gray hint, hoping he can drive her back to her apartment, but she guesses her hint was not that obvious. Or he was just so dense to notice it.
She didn't want to leave because she still wanted to get to know Gray a bit more, but she also doesn’t want to disappoint his brother because she made a promise. A promise that she will pick him up at the airport from his business trip. Nothing special really, but she and her brother are really close even though they are really not related to each other.
It is already late, but people kept on going in and out from the bar, and it was hard to get a taxi as well. Busy night.
She was hugging herself because of the cold that was touching her skin. It was Cana's fault for forcing her to wear a dress that she's not used to, it was quite revealing. She can feel some eyes ogling her and also some cars honking their horns at her, and she can't help but feel uncomfortable, worried, and alarmed.
"What's taking it so long?", she mumbled. Now getting frustrated because she's been waiting for too long. After a few minutes, she finally saw a taxi coming. She raised her hand and started waving at the taxi, but it just drove passed her.
She sighed and her shoulders dropped down. Suddenly, someone stood behind her and put a blazer on top of her shoulder, covering her skin from the cold. She nervously jumped and quickly turned around with her eyes wide open. When she saw the person behind her, her eyes soften and exhaled deeply. Feeling relaxed and safe.
"Gray-sama."
Earlier, when Juvia left the room, Gray was really disappointed. He wanted her to stay, but when he heard her reason for leaving, he had no reason to stop her. He grabbed his glass of beer and drunk what's left then placed it back on the table when he was done.
Then he leaned lazily on his seat followed by furiously rubbing his hair. He already missed her presence, longing for her company, and he didn't get to feel this feeling with other women he had met. He doesn't even remember some of their names.
His heart aches, but he was sure that if Juvia by his side, it will heal. She really did something to him, even if she's not aware of it. Damn, he's not sure what was it either. But she was driving him crazy and had a strong desire to see her more in the future.
While he was sulking like a heartbroken teenager, he was not aware of his friend’s eyes staring at him. No one was talking until Erza broke the silence.
"What are you doing?", Erza's firm voice made Gray sat up straight. When he realized that the red-haired girl was talking to him, he confusingly frowned and felt the eyes fixed on him.
"What?", he responded coldly.
"Are you just going to let her go home by herself?", Cana asked with her arms crossed.
"You are stupid if you let that amazing woman slip out of your hand.", Erza plainly added.
Gray gave his friends a confused look, but honestly, he had an idea of what they were talking about. There is no doubt that he likes her, and there was enough sign that him and Juvia were on the same page.
"Go after her Gray.", Lucy said while smiling at her friend.
Gray nodded, immediately understand Lucy's words. "Yeah, I should."
Why didn't he think about it earlier? Instead of moping in his seat like an idiot. He had to smile at himself for losing focus because of the blue-haired girl. He smiled at his friends, "Thanks guys."
After that, he immediately stood up, grabbed his blazer and left the room. He was not sure if he can still catch up with Juvia, but he was hoping he can. When he got outside, he smiled and thanking the whole world because she was still there. He noticed her for feeling uncomfortable in where she was standing, he saw guys looking at her, he heard cars honking their horns at her, and because of the cold touching her pale, delicate, soft skin.
He watched her raising her hand for calling a taxi, he was about to call her name, but when the taxi didn’t stop in front of her, he noticed her shoulders dropped and that was when he began his move.
>>><<<
"Gray-sama."
"I'm glad you're still here."
They looked at each other, but Juvia was still in the process if Gray was really standing in front of her. She touched his cheek then when she felt a warm skin, she smiled happily. "Gray-sama is really here."
He smirked, and can't stop himself from laughing quietly, "Of course I'm here."
"What is Gray-sama doing here?", she asked. "Juvia thought ---"
She wasn't able to finish her words when Gray cupped her right cheek with his palm. "I can't just let a beautiful woman like you go home by herself. Especially, wearing like that."
He examined her from top to bottom for the second time, but he did not do it maliciously. However, despite of the cold she was feeling, her cheeks were blushing so badly that she felt some warmth sensation from what Gray just said.
Rather than responding with words, she placed her hand on top of his hand where he was cupping her cheek and smiled sweetly.
"Please allow me to take you home Juvia. So, I can spend more time with you."
Gray took her hand and he put them down together. Their hands were now intertwined, and no one was planning to let go.
"It was just a 40-minute drive Gray-sama.", she giggled. "But Juvia doesn't mind if Gray-sama will take a longer route."
How bold. She kept on surprising him. Where is the shy girl a few hours ago? And the girl who wanted to get away from the crowd at the retreat? Who cares? He doesn’t even think it as a bad thing, instead he was craving for more.
"Sounds like a deal." Soon after, Gray pulled her gently so they can cross the road and guide her where he parked his car.
As they were walking away from the bar, their friends were watching them crossing the road with a full smile on their faces.
"It looks like Gray have a date already in our wedding babe." Natsu winked at Lucy and she giggled.
"Do you think Gray will ask her? They are looking so good together." Lucy worriedly asked his fiancé. "I can't believe I didn't think of setting them up!"
"Maybe we can stop annoying him to go on a blind dates Luce. He already found someone he likes."
"You are right…"
"I'll date Juvia if he didn’t ask her." Loke received a smack on his head from Erza. "Aww!", He was rubbing his hair because the pain might disappear, but Erza really gave him a strong one.
"Find someone else. Juvia is a sweet girl and doesn't deserve to be a plaything. Plus, I know Gray will not do that to her." Erza confidently told it to her friends.
Then they left the bar with all smiles on their faces.
>>><<<
"The retreat was amazing. I can’t believe you managed to do that by yourself.", Gray praised Juvia for doing a great job organizing a big event.
Juvia blushed, didn’t expect a sudden compliment from Gray. "Juvia had some help Gray-sama. She didn’t do it alone.", she responded shyly.
"I heard a different case from Lucy though." Gray told her while focusing on the road.
Juvia frowned in confusion. "What did Lucy-san say?". She slightly tilted her head looking at Gray while waiting for his answer.
Gray looked at her and can’t help but adore her beautiful azure eyes that were staring at him like a puppy. But he had to focus with his driving, so he immediately turned his attention back on the road.
He cleared his throat and began thinking about what to say. "Uhm well… Lucy said that you did all the work, and you didn’t even complain about your co-workers who were supposed to do the job with you. That's what she said."
She slowly nodded then sweetly smiled at him. "Juvia was still grateful… because they appreciate what she did, they recognized her talent, and Juvia was just so happy. And about the people who didn’t do their job are now being punished with a pack of paper works for the whole month. So, it is a win-win for Juvia.", she giggled.
Gray chuckled, liking her honesty and enthusiasm. This girl is really interesting, one of a kind, and definitely worth it.
Gray really did take a longer route, and Juvia didn’t complain about it, but sadly, even though they still don't want to leave each other's side. They had to say their goodbyes because they already reached their destination. Juvia's apartment.
The gloominess of her eyes was shown, but she still managed to give Gray her sweetest smile. "Thank you for giving Juvia a ride home, Gray-sama."
"The least I can do.", he simply said.
"Juvia had fun"
Gray nodded, "Me too."
They were staring at each other, no one was saying some words, and didn’t know what was running inside each other's minds. The silence stopped when Juvia deeply exhales, bit her lower lip, smiled at Gray for the last time then she opened the car door and got out from the car.
But before she closed it, Gray called her name and stepped out from his car. Juvia shut the passenger door while watching Gray walking his way to the other side of the car where she was standing. Their eyes were locked at the each other until Gray was already standing in front of her.
"Gray-sa ---"
He had to do it. He wanted to do it. Juvia's words was cut short because her lips were now being sealed by Gray's lips. She was surprised, but immediately melted by his gentle kiss. He really knows how to make a woman surrender, but it was different for Juvia.
He was kissing her with respect. Soft. Delicate. Slow. Passionate.
No one wanted to let go and didn’t care about the few people walking at the side of road. However, they needed air and Gray was the first one to pull away, but their foreheads were resting against each other.
Their breathing was sync and they stayed like that for a few seconds before standing straight and locking their eyes at each other, but her hand was still being held by him.
"Go out with me." Gray whispered, but still loud enough for Juvia to hear.
Juvia's eye widen, wasn't expecting to hear those words from him, "G-Gray-sama…"
He smiled. Even though the dark was surrounding them he can still the red tint from Juvia's cheeks. "You don’t need to answer me right away. I'm sorry for surprising you, but I, uhm… I meant that." Cleared his throat. He was starting to sweat. He was nervous, and Juvia was the only woman who made him feel that way. He was only good at hiding it.
Juvia suddenly giggled. His brows drawn together while confusingly staring at the beautiful woman in front of him.
"You are so cute Gray-sama." Juvia actually noticed his cold sweat, his worry, and hesitation, and it was so pleasing for her eyes. With her sudden compliment, it was Gray's turn to feel flustered. He scratched the back of his head, landed his eyes at Juvia who was looking lovely with her giggling then his lips curved into a shy smile.
"Yes."
Gray's smile disappeared, confusingly looking at Juvia, and thinking if he heard her right. "What did you say?"
Juvia bit her lower lip then exhaled deeply. "Juvia said yes with what Gray-sama said earlier. She will go out with you."
Gray's face brightened like a kid who received a lollipop, but in a manly way (if that makes sense).
"You can't turn back now. I'm warning you." he said in a flirty tone.
Juvia nodded, "Juvia is serious and has no plan of turning back."
"That also means, you'll be my date at Natsu and Lucy's wedding."
She chuckled, "Juvia loves that."
He was very satisfied with her answer and smiled even more. That moment, he was so happy and can’t wait to see the future that awaits for him and with the "sexy-as hell-shy girl" in front of him.

Every road leads to you chapter 1 | Sambucky a/b/o mpreg
Note: obvious tags for this are a/b/o and eventual mpreg. Alpha Sam, Omega Bucky, Bucky deal with CPTSD, missing scenes, canon compliant, canon continuation, frenemies to friends to lovers, roommates, only one bed. Probably a few more tropes. tbh I wrote this chapter in like a day, posting it here first because I wanna finish the whole fic before posting it to Ao3 but hoping to get some feedback for it here. So I hope you like it. Let me know if you do.
-
“Stop the car!”
Goddamn Walker and his goddamn fucking mouth. He couldn’t believe this shit. Battlestar. More like throwing away everything Steve had ever stood for. These two, Walker and Hoskins, they weren’t fit to defend the mantle of Captain America. They were soldiers, not good men. He hated their freaking guts for that.
Sam should have never given up that shield.
He stalked further down the road, past the bus stop and onto a smaller road that wound back to town without looking back.
“It’s always that last line.” Sam said after a short back and forth with Walker and not long after Sam’s footsteps trailed after him.
“Buck, wait up!”
He kept walking, trying to contain the anger boiling under his skin. Pulsing and creeping up, threatening to overload his nervous system at the slightest touch. He took a deep breath instead and released it slowly. Trying to calm the waving energy inside of him.
Just keep breathing. Everything is going to be okay.
Sam fell into step beside him, his eyes practically burning holes into the side of his face. Though he paid it no mind.
“You’re not going to talk to me, are you?”
He glared at Sam but slowed down his pace just a little to allow the Alpha to keep up with him. As much as he usually enjoyed bantering with the other man, right now everything was just too much. And even Sam’s words echoed in his head and threatened to overload his entire system.
Sam, thankfully, understood.
“Alright. Let’s find a phone. Call Torres.”
He looked at Sam for a moment. The Alpha didn’t judge him for his mood, simply understood what he needed and left it at that. Honestly, it was nice for a change. He sighed, fishing his still working cellphone out of his pocket and handed it to Sam.
“Here.”
Clearly, Sam hadn’t expected that. But the smile Sam gave him created a pleasant warm feeling in the pit of his stomach and eased the pulsing energy through his body just a little. In a way, it was soothing to see him smile.
“Thanks Buck.”
“You’re welcome.”
Two short phone calls later they were on their way to the airport in a cab, their knees touching and only the sound of Taylor Swift singing over the radio surrounding them. Even the driver was quiet.
He still noted the driver’s glances between the two of them but didn’t comment on it since the chubby man didn’t either. He figured the man had bigger problems in his life than having an unmated Alpha and Omega sitting in the back of his cab. Having the kind of walrus mustache the man sported, had to be one of them.
Sam kept sneaking glances between him and the driver, his lips curled up in an amused smile. Almost as if he knew the kind of things he was thinking. It was a little weird, a little endearing, mostly just annoying. He raised an eyebrow at the behavior and leaned back with a smirk when Sam just glared at him and crossed his arms.
Damn right.
Though a small part of him winced at the way his gut twisted at Sam’s reaction. When was the last time he’d taken his suppressants? A quick silent count said he’d taken all of them. So that couldn’t be why he was having a reaction. What else could it be though?
Torres welcomed them at the airport, thankfully Walker or Hoskins were nowhere to be seen. A small miracle all things considered, but a very welcome one.
“Plane’s fueled and ready to go when you are.”
“Then let’s take off, I’ve had enough of Germany for now.” Sam said.
He followed, trailing after Sam into the cargo hold of the plane where they would undoubtedly spend the next few hours just staring ahead. And maybe even getting some sleep if they were lucky enough.
It took a few hours for them to get bored enough. He certainly didn’t know what to do with himself and Sam was on the verge of a mental breakdown judging the by the way he was glaring at him. Then again, if Sam had been mindlessly pacing up and down the cargo hold he’d probably be in the same state.
“Would you please just sit down?”
His fingers twitched at those words yet he did stop. Hands clenching and unclenching in an effort to get rid of some of his excess energy.
“I can’t. I’m restless.” He was. It felt like a dozen fire ants were crawling up and down his spine and the only way to alleviate that feeling was by pacing around the plane.
“I can see that, but you’re making me restless. Come on.” Sam beckoned him closer.
It was… tempting to sit down beside him and allow Sam to calm him. He couldn’t do that though. Couldn’t let anyone get that close. He didn’t know if Sam knew what he was, they didn’t talk much about that stuff. And a part of him never wanted Sam to find out either. He didn’t want to lose this edge of whatever it was that was between them. In a way it was comforting to know that someone didn’t take his bullshit, that someone still called him out on his stupid ideas.
He sat down on the floor opposite Sam, his back propped up against some crates and the tips of his toes not quite touching Sam’s.
Sam merely stared at him for a moment, then leaned forward and offered him his hands. “Gimme your hands.”
“No.” His first reaction was to lean back further and glare. Sneering at the hands he was offered.
Though Sam didn’t budge or get angry at his behavior and stayed calm. Within minutes his shoulders relaxed just a little and he laid his hands in Sam’s with a soft grumble.
“Fine.”
“Good, now breathe.” Sam said, taking a deep breath in. “In, hold it-” He paused for a few seconds, then released his breath “-and out slowly. Repeat.”
“You’re playing therapist now are you?” He appreciated Sam’s help, truly, he did. But there was always a part of him that just wanted to rile Sam up. Just to see if he could.
“No, I just want some goddamn peace and quiet without you pacing a hole through the floor and this is probably the best way to get that.” Sam bit back, the corners of his lips curling up.
It did something to him. A warmth that pooled in his stomach and slowly traveled to his heart and eased the little aches, pains, and pulses of his body. God he could drown in those dark eyes all night.
He blinked rapidly at that thought, only then realizing that his breathing had synched up with Sam’s and they were calmly breathing in and out together. How had that happened? Even his own therapist hadn’t been that effective in getting him to calm down.
He hadn’t even noticed he had exposed the dog tags around his neck for Sam to see. His full name and designation clearly stamped and visible.
James B. Barnes O

Sam didn’t seem to care either way. “Better?”
He nodded, quickly pulling his hands away from Sam’s when Sam’s thumb brushed over the back of his hand. “Yeah…”
“Good. Let me know if you feel restless, we’ll do it again.” Sam leaned back and closed his eyes, his breathing slowly evening out.
He honestly didn’t understand it. Sam had had every opportunity to absolutely obliterate him and yet he hadn’t. Anything vulnerable he showed him, any kind of weakness he had, for once it wasn’t used against him. Sam treated him like a person. He never really noticed that before, or it hadn’t registered this clearly. It was too easy to forget when he was around Sam, too easy to just fall in beside him and joke and snap along. It scared him just a little.
It also gave him hope.
Maybe that’s why he brought Sam to Baltimore.
He should have known things would go south real quickly.
“How come nobody ever told me about him?” Sam’s voice was full of fire and emotion and yet it cut him cold across the chest. He wasn’t sure if he deserved that reaction, but he understood it in a way.
“Steve didn’t know and I didn’t-” He ran a hand through his hair, sighing “-I didn’t tell anybody because he’d already been through enough.”
The sharp sound of sirens pulled him out of his thoughts and brought an entirely new problem with it. Before he knew it, he was the one escorted into a police car with his hands cuffed. He missed his court mandated therapy. Wasn’t that a fucking joke?
He spared one glance at Sam just as the car pulled away from the scene and immediately wished he hadn’t. The look Sam gave him hurt more than any punch ever had and for the life of him he couldn’t figure out why. He didn’t owe Sam anything. And yet it felt like he just lost his entire world.
“I’m sure everything will be sorted quickly, Mr. Barnes.” One of the cops, the shorter one, said. He was quite a bit more nervous now than he had been when he thought Sam had been an aggressor, possibly because he feared repercussions from profiling an Avenger. Good. Maybe it would make him think twice about pulling shit like that, though a part of him very much doubted it.
He simply glanced at them in the rear view mirror, feeling an almost sick sense of satisfaction as that unnerved both of the cops further. He didn’t say anything to them despite their attempts at making small talk with him.
What was the fucking point anyway?
He didn’t expect Sam to come get him at the station. Seeing him there felt like a slap to the face. Not because Sam had done anything wrong, no he’d done everything right. And that’s exactly what hurt so much.
The doc seemed hell bent on getting him to open up about his problems. And as much as he didn’t really want to he found himself opening up anyway.
“Well in my miracle, he would talk less.” He said, glaring at Sam as he said it. And maybe that was a bit harsh, but Sam took it like a champ and threw it right back at him. God how he wanted to shut him up in that moment. Though in what way he wasn’t quite sure. In the last day his emotions had been all over the place.
He wanted to hate Sam, but he couldn’t. Something deep inside him just couldn’t hate him for any of this. Not when he himself had done so much worse.
The doc didn’t seem that pleased with them. Honestly, she should have known better. “You guys are leaving me with no choice. It’s time for the soul gazing exercise.”
Now that, he actually liked. “I like this one a lot better.”
“Oh god he’s gonna love this.” Sam said.
“Oh yeah, I’m ready.”
They scooted close, legs intertwining as they sat opposite one another. Once again he was staring into deep brown eyes except this time Sam’s warmth also seeped into him. In a way it was like touching spring for the first time since a cold winter. Warm and pleasant with just enough breeze to keep you alert and in the moment. It was both heaven and earth on hell and he wanted nothing more than to punch him in the face. He didn’t. He couldn’t.
Because punching Sam wouldn’t solve anything. It wouldn’t give him closure. It wouldn’t bring Steve back. Steve, who had walked out on him and left him in a time he barely knew just to get his own happy ending. Yeah maybe that had left him a little bitter and a little broken.
“Why’d you give up the shield?”
He poured his heart into his words and bared his soul wide open and it didn’t seem to matter to Sam. So maybe Steve had been wrong about him. About both of them. Maybe he didn’t deserve redemption or compassion. Maybe he didn’t deserve a second chance. And maybe he didn’t deserve Sam’s kindness or compassion either. Maybe he was just broken.
“See you outside, Buck.”
Maybe he was just too broken to function after all.
“Thanks doc.” He followed after Sam, quiet and brooding on the outside but his mind was screaming and crying in agony.
Worthless. He was just so fucking worthless.
He shouldn’t care this much.
He didn’t deserve to care this much.
Maybe that’s why he suggested to go the HYDRA route and find Zemo, or maybe it was a form of self sabotage. Who knew? All he knew, was that this was his last chance to do something right for this world. No matter what it would cost him.

After sending his last text to you, Namjoon is only slightly surprised when he sees your caller ID flashing on his phone screen. When he looks at the time, he notices that it had taken you less than a minute for you to call him, no doubt ready to scream your head off at his outrageous suggestion. Admittedly, he knows that his idea might be a little outside of your comfort zone, but he believes you can do it. If his people reading skills are even remotely average, then he’s sure that it’ll work if you just—
“KIM NAMJOON! HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU COME UP WITH THAT CONCLUSION?” Your voice is loud enough to burst an eardrum, but luckily, Namjoon had already expected your volume and had held his phone an arm away. In his nine-ish days of knowing you, he’s somewhat accustomed to your theatrics, though you’re still no match for Hoseok’s excited shrieks.
“Hello Y/N,” Namjoon hums, sitting up groggily from his bed. It’s a bit too early to go to sleep, but he supposes that your panicked screams are going to keep him up a little bit longer. “I feel as though you’re overreacting a little.”
“A little?” You scoff loudly, and Namjoon can imagine you pacing circles in your room. You did always seem a little fidgety when you two went out together. “Namjoon, you can’t just expect me to go on a date with Jungkook—“
“Why not? You guys go out all the time, don’t you?” Namjoon points out, smiling slightly at your exasperated huffs.
“Well, that’s different! Those were platonic hangouts! Just bros being bros!”
“Then change the context a little bit. You don’t have to ask him to be your boyfriend just to go on a date.”
“Namjoon, I know you’re a smart man but I don’t think your math skills are all that great,” you say brusquely. “That doesn’t add up! If I ask him on a date, then he’ll know I’m into him and—“
“And that’s a bad thing?” Namjoon interrupts, raising a brow. “Y/N, we both know you’re being a little unreasonable right now.”
You splutter for a moment, but you find that you’re unable to retort. Namjoon smirks, continuing, “Y/N, I know you’re worried that Jungkook might get swept away now that he’s quote-unquote ‘single.’ I get it. But if you’re not going do anything about it and suffer in silence, then he’s definitely going to leave. Besides, I already told you that he probably likes you back, judging from how jealous he got. You could probably even ask your friends and they’d tell you the same.”
You snort. “God, I’d rather die than talk about… love stuff with those freaks I call friends,” you cough out a laugh, muffling the sound before it can continue. Namjoon knows you’re a bit conscious of your “unflattering” snorts, but he just finds them cute. A lot of the things you don’t like about yourself are cute in Namjoon’s eyes. “I can’t even imagine going to any of them about this… They’d just bully me and make me do something I don’t want to do!”
“Isn’t that basically what I’m doing right now?” Namjoon laughs, giggling even harder when he hears your tired groan.
“Yeah, but you’re nice. Unlike those meanies,” you say. Namjoon hates to admit it, but he does appreciate being special to you, even if it’s over something trivial like this.
“You’re right. I wouldn’t force you to do anything you don’t want to do,” Namjoon starts. He can hear you humming in agreement, but he doesn’t stop there. “But, it is a suggestion. Seeing as how you don’t have any other idea how to solve this mess, I’d say go for it. What’s the worse thing that can happen?”
“Um? I get rejected? Hello?”
“You don’t have to let him know it’s a date, you know.”
“What do you mean? Namjoon, you should stop speaking in riddles because I honestly don’t have enough brain cells for this, clearly.”
Namjoon sighs. “I guess what I’m trying to say is… What if you fake date him?” When you don’t reply immediately, Namjoon is quick to keep talking. “Not that I’m asking you to stop fake dating me! What I’m trying to say is… Maybe try to rekindle the rumor that you and Jungkook are dating? He doesn’t have to know it’s a date, so long as everyone else thinks that you two are.”
“I… I guess?” You sound unsure, though Namjoon admits it’s kind of a long shot to begin with, not when you wouldn’t know the last thing about being subtle. He kind of wants to throttle you, in a gentle way. It’s honestly frustrating to see you like this, and he just wishes he could… Make the problem go away.
That would be easy. If Y/N just stopped pining after Jungkook, then he could just come in and—
His thoughts skid to a halt, nearly slapping himself to keep from going down that road again. Look at him, trying to help you with your mess when even he can’t get a handle on his own emotions. What is going on inside my head, he thinks sadly to himself.
“Listen, it’ll be really easy! All you have to do is text him and say, ‘Hey, wanna go have dinner with me tomorrow?’ but bring him somewhere nicer, perhaps? Then take a photo of him all dressed up and looking boyfriend-y and post it on Instagram. I’m sure that’ll shut people up.”
“Namjoon, I don’t know if you’re aware, but Jungkook’s definition of ‘dressing up’ is combat boots, a hoodie, and his god-awful backpack the size of Africa. He looks like a nerd.”
“I mean, you kinda dress alike…” Namjoon mutters, and he’s thankful that you don’t hear his slight slip-up. He clears his throat. “A-anyway, I’m sure it’ll be fine? I think it would be more suspicious if he wore a suit and tie or something. So long as you guys look cozy and comfy together, I’m sure people will take the hint. If worse comes to worst, I can maybe slip something to Johnny and he can retract his statement or something.”
“I hope to god that isn’t the case,” you say. Namjoon nods, before realizing you can’t even see him.
“Right. Well, I think everything should work out perfectly. Just ask him to some popular couples restaurant. Maybe the nice Italian place in Hongdae? Something more romantic, not necessarily fancy.”
There’s a pause on your end for a moment causing Namjoon to sweat a little, wondering if he might be overstepping. He does genuinely want to help you, though he hopes he isn’t actually weirding you out somehow. He’s not adept at handling love problems as much as he’s trying to appear to be, since he’s mostly using the romance novels he had read during his teen years as his sole source of reference. This is what I get for not dating for so long, Namjoon thinks, grimacing.
“Namjoon.” You break the silence, your voice quieter than before. Namjoon has to strain his ears a little, pursing his lips as he waits for your response. “Are you…”
Namjoon tilts his head. “Am I?”
Namjoon hears you hesitate, stuttering syllables over his phone speaker like you aren’t quite sure how to ask your question. “Do you remember when I asked you a few days ago if you were sure you don’t actually have a girlfriend?”
“Yeah?”
“I just… I don’t know how to say this without being weird, but I just want to say you’re great. Like,” you huff out a laugh, incredulous. “You’re just… The perfect package? You’re so kind and so sweet and it’s just? Almost mysterious how you don’t have someone special to call your own yet.”
Namjoon smiles wryly to himself, head bowed as he stares at his wrinkled bedsheets. “I suppose other people don’t feel the same way.” He tries forcing out a laugh, but it sounds a little strangled. His chest feels tight, strangely. Hopefully, you don’t notice.
“No, I highly doubt that! You’re literally the perfect guy. Any person would be lucky to have you as their boyfriend.” You sound almost indignant, like you can’t imagine anyone ever thinking badly about him. He almost wants to laugh, but he tightens his hands into fists instead, digging his nails into his palms and leaving crescents in their wake.
“Well then… I guess that makes you lucky to have me, then?” Namjoon nearly slaps his hands to his mouth, a cold tingle of embarrassment mixed with fear running down his spine. Did he really just say that— “What I mean is, erm…”
“N-no, I get you.” You’re giggling, but—is he imagining it?—you sound a little nervous to his ears. If he thinks hard enough, he can almost imagine you blushing, bottom lip trapped underneath your teeth. “I guess I am lucky to be your fake girlfriend, huh? Even for just a few weeks?”
“Yeah,” Namjoon breathes out the word, guilt washing over him like waves. Here he is, feeling things that he shouldn’t be, over a girl who was never his to begin with. There are seedlings in his chest, barely anything to write home about. But he knows—a gardener can see the garden even before the flowers have bloomed. Each day he spends with you is another day they get a chance to grow, and he’s afraid he’ll soon be overrun, unable to handle the forest that is bound to erupt. “Just a few weeks,” he echoes, unable to completely hide the sadness from his words.
“I guess I am just being melodramatic about everything, huh?” you say. It takes a moment for Namjoon to even remember what the two of you had been talking about, so caught up in his thoughts that he has to pinch himself back to reality.
“Think of it as a funny story to tell your grandkids,” Namjoon says.
You laugh, and Namjoon can feel a seedling sprout its first leaf. “Yeah. Definitely. God, I can’t even begin to think about kids… Not when I can’t even ask him out on a fucking date.”
“You can do it, Y/N.” Namjoon whispers. He flops back down onto his bed, eyes half-closed as he stares at his cracked ceiling. If he breathes quietly enough, he can hear the sounds of Seoul outside his windowpane. If he stops breathing altogether, he might be able to hear you across the city, your socked feet padding towards your bed, curling up into your own blanket.
“Thank you, Namjoon. Really.”
For what? Namjoon leaves that part unspoken. “You’re welcome,” he says instead. He drops the call, feeling a little emptier than before.

dance with me--a spencer reid x reader
a/n: hi everyone! sorry I haven’t posted that much, my life has been kind of hectic. this idea just kind of came to me so I hope you enjoy it!
warnings: none! just fluff :)
word count: 1570
-
“Jeez,” you said as you shut your book and grabbed the closest thing to you(your arm rest). There was turbulence on your way home from a case in Colorado, and while you weren’t a nervous flier, you would still prefer for the rides to be smooth and calm.
“I really do not appreciate that turbulence,” Rossi stated from his position across from you. It wasn’t a secret that Rossi liked his plane rides smooth as well.
“Relax, guys. Did you know that the actual chances of a fatal injury from a plane crash are 5% or less? Also it would be kind of difficult for the plane to actually crash. Most things have a low risk of happening but the stakes are high if said event actually happens--like in rock climbing. The chances of the climber slipping are slim, but if they do fall the injuries could be fatal. Anyways, as I was saying, lots of activities are like that, but plane crashes are at low risk in both areas. So hopefully that can help to...calm you down,” Dr. Spencer Reid said in an attempt to help.
Spencer and you always had a weird relationship dynamic. When you guys actually interacted you two always had a good time, and when you got put together on cases things normally went more smooth than usual, but something had just never clicked with you two. The rest of the team didn’t know it, but you knew that the reason(at least on your part) was that you had a crush on Spencer. Big time. So, the only way to ensure that you didn’t accidentally slip your feelings or make a complete fool of yourself in front of Spencer was to...avoid him, mostly.
“Thanks, Reid,” you said. “You know, I’m not that nervous of a flier, I just prefer a smooth ride. Helps to ease the anxiety more than your statistics, that’s for sure.” That earned a chuckle from Rossi.
“Yeah, yeah. Excuse me for trying,” Spencer said with mock hurt, but the smirk he offered you let you know that he was kidding. “We should be landing soon, anyways. I estimated our landing time and we should be down in eight-ish minutes.”
“Wonderful. I honestly cannot wait to get this paperwork done and go home because I have been craving thai food since we left for this case!” You said, your mouth watering with just the thought of red curry, pad thai, basically everything on the menu.
“Woah, did someone say thai food??” Derek’s head popped up over the other side of Rossi’s chair.
“Yes! I’m planning on grabbing some on my way home. Do you guys want to come over actually? Anyone who wants to come can!”
Everyone on the jet agreed to coming except for JJ, who wanted to get home to Will and Henry, and Spencer.
“Reid?? You in?” You nudged him a little bit with your foot underneath the chess table.
“Ummm, maybe? We’ll see how I feel after paper work because I’m a little tired.” You frowned a little bit. That wasn’t the answer you had wanted.
“Okay! Just whatever works for you.” Soon after that conversation, the jet landed and the team went in to finish up the paperwork for the case and meet up at your apartment. You always dreaded this part of the case. Normally the jet gave you time to cool down and try to forget about the awful things you had to face at work, but paperwork always managed to open up the wounds while they were still fresh. The amount of paperwork you had to do normally depended on your role in the case, but since you had been the one to type up a working profile for Hotch before you all delivered it, and you were the one who arrested the unsub, you had to do quite a bit.
Spencer had been watching you. From his desk a little ways away from yours, he had seen you filling out the papers you were required to and turn them into Hotch. Reid didn’t really have to do much paperwork, but he was waiting for you to be done because there was no way he was going to miss this thai food despite what he eluded to on the jet. The young doctor noted the ways your body language changed as you recounted the events of the case. He saw how you bit your lip either out of frustration or to keep your tears from falling. He saw how your brow furrowed as you looked over the case file one more time. He saw how your hands shook as you passed of the papers to Hotch and walked back to your desk.
“Okay, everyone, I’m gonna go back to my place and shower but everyone meet up at my place in like an hour? Will that work for everyone?” The rest of the team nodded and grunted out agreements as you turned and walked to the elevator. Spencer jumped in with you. Just as the elevator started to descend, an extremely loud jolt of thunder erupted from the heavens. You jumped a little bit, then blushed because you were embarrassed.
“I’m not scared of thunder, you know,” you smiled and relayed this news to Spencer after hearing him softly chuckle at you. “I’m just a little jumpy after relaying the details of our case, that’s all.”
“No, I get it. It’s just that I’m normally the one jumping for weird reasons.” Spencer returned your smile, and the elevator opened for the ground floor. You two started to walk out together.
“Sometimes I just wish it would all stop. I mean, I’m here for a reason and I love that I’m helping people! It’s just, I dunno, people are really messed up sometimes. The world can be really sucky,” you admitted to Spencer as you walked across the lobby of the Bureau.
“Agreed,” Spencer breathed out as he grunted when he saw that it was absolutely pouring outside. “Great. I don’t have an umbrella. Do you?”
You shook your head. “Well, this will be interesting. Are you coming by the way?? To dinner?” Spencer nodded. “Great. You heard my announcement about time, right?”
“Right. Well, let’s brave the rain!” You and Spencer nodded to each other as if you were going into a battlefield and stepped outside of the main set of doors.
“So apparently, not only do the people of the world suck, but the world itself does too! Blasted rain,” you joked. Something shifted in Spencer’s face.
“Do you trust me?” He asked. You nodded, a bit skeptical. “Come here.”
He led you to his car, then took his messenger bag and your briefcase and shoved them in the back seat. He locked the car again.
“Spencer! What in the world do you think you’re doing?” You inquired, a little frustrated but mostly curious.
“Come here!” Spencer responded. He grabbed your hand, which took you by surprise because he was normally such a germ freak. He dragged you out to a portion of the parking lot that was normally deserted. “Dance with me!”
“Spence! What? You aren’t making sense. What are you talking about?!”
“Your hands have been shaking ever since you handed Hotch the case papers and you’re being more talkative than normal! Those are both indicators of stress and you don’t deserve that. So, I’m asking you to just forget about it. Dance with me.”
“Spencer, I have places to be! I need to pick up dinner and no matter how hard you try to make me forget about it the world is a crappy pla-”
“Dance with me and pretend the world doesn’t exist,” he pleaded, cutting you off. “Please.”
You gave in. He smiled. You started out doing a goofy dancing thing, the kind of things they showcase in cheesy teen sitcoms when they say a character is bad at dancing, but you slowly morphed to dancing with each other. At one point, Spencer span you out, and you came spinning back in to him. You breathed him in, and even though he smelled mostly like the rain that soaked his clothes, you could pick up traces of coffee and books, both trademark Spencer scents. You looked up at him and your eyes met. Then neither of you could take it any longer. You kissed. It was spontaneous and desperate and beautiful. You both smiled softly at each other when you pulled away.
“I need to go home and take a shower,” you said slowly, easing your way out of Spencer’s arms. “But I’ll see you soon, okay?” Spencer nodded. “Walk me to my car?”
You held hands all the way over to Spencer’s car, where you picked up your things, and then over to your car. You weren’t sure if that kiss was like a one-time thing but you really hoped it wasn’t. Too late to turn back now, you thought as you pressed a kiss to Spencer’s cheek before turning around and opening your car door.
“Thank you. For making me forget about the world, I mean. Even if it was just for a little bit. Hopefully you can do it again sometime, Doctor.” Spencer smiled and nodded. You drove off with a sense of satisfaction, and a new optimism that maybe the world was not, in fact, as bad as it seemed.
