You know, in the funniest why possible, one way of making a golden route fix it would be having Dimitri, Claude and Edelgard marry each other. Because they all compliment and cover each other's weaknesses. Edelgard has the drive and understand to break the creast system, something that actively hurts several different members of the houses but lacks the more needed emotional understand in personal situations. Dimitri wants to protect his friends and kingdom but often lacks confidence pre time skip and the more focus and charisma. Claude has the passion and patience to dig prejudice out of people and ofter more fair treatment but lacks a solid foundation of trust and equal power to other people.

In the most sad and funny way, all three of their goals would be easier to achieve if they work together, Edelgard has Dimitri and Claude to watch her back in making policy to dismantle creasts while limiting friction from nobles outside the empire. Dimitri has help from someone who has been harmed by TSiTD and who want them gone as much as he does. Claude has the ability to go back home while knowing he has two people in his corner continuing his quest in fodurn as he works in his home kingdom.

You could throw byeth in there but I think there is a lot for just how in a ironic sense, that these three in a relationship would fix their problems.

Also if you need a "war arc tho?" All three have people trying to kill themselves for their thrones. Them having to take back their countries as they try to stop their respective corrupt tyrants from continuing a thre way war as they try to take over with TTSiTD adding fuel to the greed.
