I only noticed this on NightOwl's story but I do wonder if you ever made a Naruhina recs centering around stories where it's narrated on Naruto's Perspective?

Now, now don't look at me like that okay? I do love when the story is in Hinata's perspective most of the time but reading fics where Naruto's the one feeling it and seeing the story unfold is a one of a kind thing and I know there's only a few stories or fics you will think of about this one. But I do hope you can find some fics though, I'm kind of craving for such fics these days.

𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐈𝐒 : “You came here to assist your boss at a party he’s invited to, not to solve a murder with a group of strangers you’ve just met. Yet here you are, staring at the dead mansion owner who hosted the party in the first place, surrounded by eight men with high statuses in society: and one of them is a murderer. The question is who? And can you solve the mystery without being killed yourself?”

“Fuck you!” You shout at the killer before hurling one of your shoes right at the car’s window. To your utter disbelief, it somehow works, and the shattered glass falls all over the driver’s seat. You and Jeongin rush to enter the car through the window, Hyunjin trailing behind a split second later after figuring out what you two were attempting to do.

Hyunjin lets out a yelp once he realizes his jacket has been slashed by a throwing knife, but he’s quick to pick up the knife from the dirt and continue running. By the time he’s dived through the small hole, you and Jeongin are in the back seat, your exposed legs getting scratched with tiny shards of glass as you attempt to wipe them away from your seat. Your side of the car, however, is the one closest to the killer, which worries you greatly.

“FUCK! We need the key to start this thing!” Hyunjin exclaims in fury, clearing panicking as much as you two are. “WATCH OUT-”

Crash. The front window falls apart right in front of your eyes, and you could barely cover them in time for the glass to explode all around you. The three of you duck away from the windows from that point on, you in particular trying to stay in the middle of the seats. You whine with desperation. If the three of you bail on this plan, you lose your head start and will likely all get hit by Minho. It’s practically a lose-lose situation, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

“Not a very smart plan, huh?” Minho grins as he prances over to the car, his eyes targeting Hyunjin. Jeongin starts to hyperventilate, realizing how terrible of a mistake this was. He hides his face with his hands and stays in the corner, mumbling jumbles of words.

“I’m sorry, I’m so, so, sorry-”

“THE KEY!” You scream out, your eyes lighting up when you remember one crucial part of your search. “The one that we deemed useless, try that one!”

Hyunjin’s mouth forms an “o” shape as he scrambles to fish out the key from his pocket. He grips the key and inserts it into the hole, twisting his wrist.

The engine revs up, and you almost let yourself relax and let out a sigh of relief.

And then you remembered: Oh, the killer’s still there.

“DRIVE!” You yell at Hyunjin’s ear, and he hits the pedal immediately, turning the car around so it’s now facing the opened gate. The car lets out a screeching noise as Hyunjin accelerates the car’s speed, speeding his way out of the mansion’s fenced off area.

Minho’s tricks don’t stop there, however, as he manages to break the other side of the car’s windows. The side Jeongin happens to be on. More glass comes tumbling into the vehicle, pouring onto Jeongin’s head.

“I-” Jeongin cups his right eye with his hands. “I can’t see! Fuck, the glass!”

You turn to look at the window behind you, which is somehow still intact. Locking eyes with Minho, who continues to run faster and faster, you gulp nervously. “Drive, Hyunjin! Faster!”

Hyunjin grinds his teeth at your demand. “I’m trying, Y/N!” He grips the steering wheel tighter, determination filling him. “We’re almost there, we’ll be okay!” The car makes its way to the turn Minho was referring to earlier, and your hands start trembling with anticipation. You turn to look at Jeongin, but the sight makes you wince with pity. Blood is dripping down the hand holding his injured eye, his other eye letting out tears instead of blood, and you rub his shoulder to comfort him. Hopefully, at the end of all of this, Hyunjin can treat both your hand and Jeongin’s eye.

“YES!” Hyujin shouts, pumping a fist in the air, as the car zooms past the goal Minho set for the three of you. He continues to drive while you look back to find Minho, only to see him walking back to the mansion without a final, single glance at you. The car eventually stops to your dismay with Hyunjin needing to hit the brakes, and his eyes furrow together, opening the car door to inspect the vehicle.

When he returns, he lets out a sigh. “Looks like he damaged a tire, must’ve been his last attempt to stop us.”

You nod in agreement while Jeongin catches his breath, processing what just happened. “The worst night of my life,” Jeongin lets out, his head falling back onto the seat.

“I second that, but unfortunately, we’re a bit screwed.” Hyunjin’s comment gives you an unsettling feeling in your stomach.

“And.. Why is that?” you muster the courage to ask him.

“Look at the mansion,” he nods his head in the direction of the house. You and Jeongin turn your heads simultaneously to get a look at it.

It’s a raging fire by now, escaping through the windows upstairs. Jeongin gasps, and you let out a curse from under your breath.

“We’ll definitely go to prison for that...” you realize, but you don’t have enough energy to freak out over it right now. “Well, if we go to the police right now, we’ll basically be turning ourselves in.”

The three of you sit in silence for a while. You didn’t expect this reaction when you fantasized about all three of you managing to escape; instead you expected celebrating and smiles on everybody’s faces.

“Do you two want to…” Hyunjin starts to suggest. “Stay at my place for a while and hide there?”

“Yeah,” Jeongin timidly responds, earning a pleased hum from Hyunjin. “Sounds good. Okay, we can do that.” The tiniest smile forms on all three of your faces, nodding at each other in content.

“We escaped… we did what we wanted to do all along…” You start quietly speaking.

The images of the five other innocent members coughing in the flames and their bodies burning, along with Minho staring at the mansion proudly sets you ablaze. You finally let your tears fall, letting out a sad grin and looking down at the hand with the knife right through it.

“But at what cost?”

ENDING ACHIEVED: “At What Cost?” (SUCCESS?)

This ending is achieved by escaping the mansion with all your alliance members, but leaving the rest of the group behind with an unknown fate, along with letting the Killer King run free.

Congratulations. Technically, you didn’t die, so you were able to escape the mansion. With that being said, however, I’ll have to let the author out of her room, and let her get back to her blog. She’ll be answering asks sent after this chapter is posted.

The Day Laika Came Back

Note: This is an experiment to see if posting my fanfictions in both tumblr and ao3 is worth it. If this publication gets to at least 50 notes (not counting self-reblogs) in the following 3 weeks I will start posting my future fics in tumblr, otherwise I will stick to only publishing in ao3.

Summary: Jon Kent comes back from space, years older and unable to believe he made it home. But coming back to the life he left won’t go as smoothly as he wished it did.

Jon can’t help it, he has to stare. Everything is so new and nostalgic at the same time, like a dream he’s had every single night for years and years and only now can clearly remember. It doesn’t feel real, the trees, the sky, as if someone took the string of memories he barely could hold, those precious, faded images he was starting to doubt if ever even happened and knitted a world out of it, colorful and lovely and solid. The final sentences from a poem he could barely recall, suddenly coming together into something he can hold.

It’s too good to be true and it makes the back of his neck ache, hurt and burn with that sense of dread crawling all over his shoulders, like subconsciously he knows any moment now the universe will pull him by the hair and throw him back into the darkness of space like a rag doll, like it all will dissolve if he so much as reaches to pick up a flower and he will be forced to admit what he’s been fearing for a long time now, that this never existed and the infinite void and the rocky prison is his only real place, that he appeared there and will roam there and will die there and all there is is there and there and there and nothing else than there and all those memories he holds so dear are just a bad joke, a carrot dangling in front of a horse to keep it walking; A plastic carrot.

But right now, he isn’t there. He’s here. And it’s real and true and alive and he can’t help but to look at everything with very round wide eyes like a baby who was just born. Drinking all around him like a man who’s been in the desert a decade and a half and will die if he doesn’t drink all the water in the world.

It happens all too quickly, the arrival, the fighting, confusion, questions, answers, kind words, harsh words, words, words, words all around, all in English, not kryptonian or other alien language but his mom’s tongue. He keeps it together through all that and puts a brave face on, and then when no one but his parents are watching and it’s all over he cries on his dad’s shoulder and his mom’s arms are around him and Jon shakes and chokes and laughs.

Time passes, seconds, hours, it’s not even been four days when a lot of people congregate around him. They ask more questions and he gives more answers and they demand proves and tests and argue and discuss and through all that he can’t help but to pass his eyes over their faces and almost gasp when he sees anything vaguely familiar. Dad’s friends, dad’s coworkers, that one’s wonder woman, that one’s a green lantern, that one’s this, this one’s that, that, those, these, and then his eyes rest on someone he thought he would never see again and if he thought his eyes couldn’t widen more, well, he was wrong.

He’s shorter than Jon remembers and he also got a bit wrong the length of the hair, but the costume, that’sexactly as he pictured it in his mind all these years, from the boots to the cape to the utility belt, he got it all right.

Damian has his eyes very open just like Jon, he can notice it even with the mask, and suddenly he really wishes he could take it off, to see his eyes. He can’t remember if they were green or blue.

He’s stuck there, being hit once again with the amazing, ecstatic thisisrealimherenotthere feeling, just going over his friend’s features, burning the image in his mind, and then Damian bites his lips and looks away like someone slapped him and it comes crashing down.

…Ah.

His dad will always be his dad, and his mom his mom, but he never… Well, he did, but not really, not seriously, he never… Actually thought how it would be for everything else.

Because, well, it makes sense, he's… He isn’t the same as when he left, he took too long coming back and now. And- And probably if he had taken one or two, maybe even three years that wouldn’t be much of a difference, maybe, but he's… He probably doesn’t look at all like his younger self.

And… It hasn’t been that long here. And now he thinks about what it must be like, what it would be like for him as a kid, and he realizes a lot of people probably won’t see him as himself. Won't… It will be more like this eleven years old just dissipated in thin air and a randomadult that just so happens to share his name appeared in his place and those two only have the most tiniest of connections and that one time when he met that older version of Damian and himself he didn’t actually think of them as them , did he? Not as…

He keeps looking at the ground for the rest of the Justice League meeting, and when everyone starts to leave he doesn’t notice Damian walking towards him until he speaks.

“Jon.”

He feels like jumping out of his own skin. He looks up, and then down, because Damian is short and a kid. And Jon isn’t, not anymore, and then Damian starts to open his mouth to say something but Jon doesn’t want to hear it, he doesn’t, because if there’s another thing he remembers of his best friend is that he’s mean, good intentioned and warm, a really good person once you know him, but also oh so damn harsh, and he usually could deal with that and see the real meaning lurking under his words but right now he’s tired, beaten and in the middle of a life crisis and can’t, doesn’t want to and won’t deal with it. So he bails. He just walks out and leaves him there, half a word out of his lips, he then goes back to his dad’s side and absconds from the encounter.

Some time passes, he settles, and doesn’t get in contact with anyone. Because it would hurt, right? He already proved he can’t face Damian; Kathy would either cry or smile and act like it’s fine, but he doubts she will see him as her friend and not a shadow of someone she knew; And he can’t actually tell any of his school friends… He’s ashamed to admit, he doesn’t really remember half of them.

So he stays in Metropolis and thinks what to do. He can’t just retake school where he left it, he will most likely have to work on getting a GED. He can’t hang out with people he knew, not now that he’s so different. He doesn’t think he will leave to do anything in space as long as he lives. And he doesn’t feel like looking for a job. So he stays with his parents dear Rao he missed them and throws himself into fighting crime, perfectly and completely, until it’s almost like he doesn’t have a civilian identity anymore. It makes for a good distraction, but there’s the risk of running into people he knows.

He thinks Damian is doing it on porpoise, working near Metropolis, sometimes in Metropolis, be it alone or with his Teen Titans team. He runs into him a couple of times, Damian’s heart beats real fast when it happens, and then he always tries to force him into talking when the fight is over, but Jon just keeps looking to the ground and running away. It must make him look like a jerk, hell, he feels like a jerk, but he can’t face it, the ‘you aren’t my Jonathan Kent’ he just knows is coming.

He’s walking through the city, pulling at his civilian shirt as he runs an errand for his mom. It feels like a costume, he wonders if normal clothes ever felt this fake as a kid, he can’t remember.

Suddenly, there’s a heartbeat in the crowd, a fast one he recognizes, moving right at him.

He tries to escape like the coward he is, but he can’t show his powers in public, and he doesn’t want to just walk over someone. Jon tries finding a place hidden from sight so he can take flight and disappear like always, but just as he’s entering an alley there’s a little hand firmly around his wrist and judging by how much force he’s applying there’s no real way he can get rid of Damian without tearing one of his fingers off.

It must look funny, the image of this young adult all but cornered by a tiny runt, looking like he’s going to pass out as he avoids looking at his face. It doesn’t feel funny, but, Jon thinks, it probably looks funny for someone else.

“Why are you ignoring me?!” Damian yells, his fingers hard enough against Jon’s skin that his nails turn white. “No, not only ignoring! Why are you avoiding me?!”

The accusation makes Jon flinch because, well, because it’s completely true. He forces himself to look at Damian’s face. His eyes are teal, so he was half right.

“Why do you think?” Is all he can say. Because really, it should be obvious, right? He isn’t the same person, barely remembers who he used to be. If he met a younger version of himself today, Jon’s afraid he couldn’t prove him they’re the same person.

The moment they talk for more than ten seconds Damian will realize he isn’t who he remembers and will lose all interest in him, maybe will even blame him for his loss, like he personally murdered the kid to occupy his place. No one shows it, but they’re just thinking of him as a bad copy, aren’t they?

“Tt.” Damian’s jaw tenses and his heartbeat skips a beat. “Of course.” He frowns really hard and then lets Jon’s wrist go. He doesn’t waste much time into flying away.

He doesn’t see him for a while. Damian stops invading his city and he doesn’t even hear of Robin for two or three months. Jon tries not to feel sad about it, but truth is the attention felt nice.

Around four months later there’s an alien invasion. The whole league joins to fight it and Jon helps too.

He’s fighting in the front lines, punching alien after alien after alien, when he hears a familiar scream and turns his head right on time to see Robin get hit and fall to the ground. The one who attacked has their weapon pointed at him.

Jon is there in less than a second, his eyes red as he stands between Damian and the other guy. Jon isn’t sure why, maybe it’s because he just recovered all this life and is still half expecting to lose it, maybe it’s because he hasn’t had someone he cares about actually being in danger in forever, or maybe realizing he’s the older one now is getting to him more than he first thought, but there’s just this surge of protectiveness running through his veins that builds up and comes out in a “Don’t touch him!” That resembles more an animalistic growl than human speech.

It’s over quickly, a leap and a well aimed hit is all it takes. He’s next to Damian before he even realizes. He offers to help him stand up but Damian slaps his hand away.

“I don’t need your help, don’t treat me like a kid.”

“Stop being so fucking stubborn, you could have died!” Damian’s heart jumps at that, for a moment Jon doesn’t know why, and then realized it’s because he isn’t used to hearing him swear.

The feelings of the last couple months come back but he pushes that aside, the middle of a war zone is not the time to worry about his interpersonal drama.

Damian tries to get up and then trips, Jon’s there to catch him and then looks what’s the problem with his X-RAY vision. He’s got a broken leg, a bruised rib and some injuries on the left arm. He probably won’t be able to walk unassisted right away.

“Here, let me…” He moves to pick him up and Robin, surprisingly, doesn’t put up any resistance. Jon doesn’t even need to use more than one arm to fit him, Damian’s so damn tiny.

“Put me down.”

“No.”

He looks around. The battle’s almost over, but there’s still people fighting and shots firing up nearby. Jon trusts the others to hold up without him for a while and starts flying towards safety.

“Just let me down, I can wait until Father comes for me.”

“Yeah, no. I’m not taking any risks.”

“You shouldn’t be wasting time with this, you and Superman are our biggest hitters.”

“You’re important too.”

“…Why?”

The word comes soft and broken, and it makes Jon pause mid air. He looks down, at the boy in his arms. Damian isn’t looking at him as he holds a handful of his red cape.

“Because you’re my best friend.” The words come easier than he would have thought, like they were just waiting to leave his mouth. Damian lets go of the fabric and then looks at him, his face a mirror of the expression he had when Jon just came back.

“But I thought…” He trails off. Jon resumes moving and after a while Damian speaks again, barely a whisper “Then why have you been avoiding me? I… Thought you didn’t want to see me.”

“I guess that’s a normal conclusion to get to.” He mutters, because, well, it is. Why is he so damn clumsy with people? Sometimes it’s as if his mere existence was hurting those around him. “But, no, that’s not why.”

“Then why?!”

This is the point on the conversation that Jon would chicken out and disappear, but he can’t do that while carrying the person he’s talking to. So he takes a deep breath and conjures all the guts he can get. “I didn’t think you would like the person I’m now.”

A beat of silence, a pang of anxiety, and then “You’re really an idiot if you thought that.”

Jon laughs, there’s no other answer he can give to that, he laughs and ever so slightly holds Damian a bit closer. They stay in silence the rest of the trip, and soon he’s leaving his friend at the safe edge of the battle field.

He starts turning around, ready to go back, when he feels those little fingers around his arm.

“Jon.” Damian’s voice is calm and steady, but his heart is going fast and filled with adrenaline. “You haven’t changed at all.”

It’s the first time Jon’s heard that. It’s been months since he made it home, and it’s the first time he hears that sentence. Those words go to stab him right on the chest, and he has to look away and bring a hand to his face to clean the tears that are peeking from his eyes.

“Yeah.” He nods, not sure what he’s agreeing to. Damian smiles and his fingers release him. “After this… Can we hang out?”

“Do you really need to ask?!” Damian huffs, and then, softer. “We have a lot of catch up to do.”

“You have no idea.” He laughs again, Jon thinks this is the most he’s laughed ever since that reunion with his parents.

As he leaves to re-enter the battle, he hears behind him a “Come to the manor later, we can play video games and you can see Titus and Alfred again!” He stops just long enough to wave, and then flies into the war zone.

Jon thinks, for the first time in a long while… That things are going to work out just fine.

National Masters Circuit Race Championship 2021. Age Category 45-49 Race.

British Cycling, National A Race E1234 Leicester Cycle Circuit Sunday 4 July 2021

The National Masters Circuit Race Championships… a chance to win a proper National jersey for the year as recognition by British Cycling. There are separate category races in 5-year bands from 30+. Men and Women.

This year is my last in the 45-49 year band. Everyone’s UCI birthday is 1st Jan, so I’ll be 50 next year on the final bong from Big Ben. I did this race two years ago and really enjoyed the event and scene. So I made it a priority to sign up to this one early on and focus in on it.

The race would be on the Leicester Cycle Circuit. I’d never been there before. Turns out to be a very good 1km loop. Tarmac quality excellent and good safe run-offs onto grass (take note Colchester). It’s not technical, really. Though racing makes things technical. A simple circuit means more speed. More speed means more reaction times required on challenges and opportunities that appear in the bunch. And, as ever, the wind and weather makes a virtual hill - turning a stretch into a danger zone that can challenge riders and generate a split. The course is dumbbell shaped, with the northern loop being tighter than the southern one. The northern one rises a bit too.

I set off in the car in very good time. I didn’t have anything to hold back for and get there to see teammate Chris in his 40-44 category race. His field is smaller than ours. Maybe 25 riders. It’s a tough race. Chris goes heroic and into the first break of four from the gun. Hauled in and blitzed, he finds it hard to stick at the back recovering while fresh breaks occur. It’s a reminder to me that in my 75 mins race there will be several attacks. If I find myself in a break, it has to be decisive - or I’m bailing out back to the bunch. I’ll burn up easily otherwise.

I’ve got my crit wheels on. New second-hand Dura-Ace C35 tubular wheels. Ramped up to 110psi just to feel extra bad-ass. Super quick and nippy. I sign in. Pin up. I nearly forget to put on the transponder, which would be a disaster. There’s a good chance of a heavy shower, but it’s warm. So race suit only. Becoming less racy with every wash. Factor 50 suncream. I love my Koo eyewear, but for close-quarters crit stuff, I prefer my “100%” wraparounds that give me brilliant peripheral vision and eyes in the back of my head. I feel like a bit of a doofus Daft Punk wannabe. But - hey, safety first. I do a regular back garden workout. I always add in stretching around the neck and shoulders in simulation of the constant need to look around you in a tight race. I should do pilates and yoga as I get older too.

I have a good little chat with James from Cinnamon-Contour. He’s bandaged up like Roglic having had a crash in the sprint at Hillingdon in one of the rehearsal races last week. I’m impressed he’s back. I also bump into Chris from Verulam. I’m confident he’ll do well. The course suits his atomic finishing sprint power. He finished 3rd in one of the rehearsal races. Other than that, I don’t really know anyone - jut a few of the usual faces and backsides. It’s a good thing: it means the race is bringing in people from all regions - not just the south and east. I hear all sorts of accents. I’m concerned by how fit looking some of these old boys appear!

Our race is the most popular. I’m unsure why, but I have a theory it’s because mid-life crisis is peaking as people get to 50. One last chance to pretend to be Sam Bennett, Cav or Caleb.

This is a proper British Cycling event. The briefing is more stringent than the usual “rock-up with a banana and go” race. This adds nicely to the drama ahead. It feels significant. Points go down to 15th place. The top-third will score today. I am in a bit of a downward points spiral from my current 2nd Cat licence. The points started late this season - early races were zero-points post-COVID. And now I can’t see where I’ll get them from. I simply can’t find the time or BC events. To be honest though: a gentle relegation into 3rd Category doesn’t bother me at all. I’ll have more options to race.

There’s always something to forget or nearly forget. It’s a gel at the start this time. But I remember in time on the start line. I will have another halfway I reckon. I put my finger on my Wahoo to ensure I don’t forget to start the all-important Strava. We have two neutralised laps behind the car to get used to the bends and we’re released.

It’s a steady start. I expect we are all mostly unfamiliar with the course and each other and just want to walk into this one. Eventually, there’s a break and the peloton cranks up.

In a rather unconventional prep, I’d ridden a Hilly TT the Sunday before, a Zwift crit Monday, a tired chaingang Tuesday. Then did the Fred Whitton loop in the Lake District on Thursday with three friends. I’m unsure 110 miles featuring the toughest ascents in England, three sleeps before a short high energy effort, is in any training manual. After the Fred, I did not turn a pedal. I was unsure where my legs would be. In the first few laps I’m relieved to feel they are fine. A sports massage helped. In fact, I feel good. The Fred had raised my pain threshold it felt. When asked to dig deep, it was no problem.

I’m pleased to be lolling around the top third or so in the bunch. The first break gets a third of a lap gap. But the bunch aren’t really bothered. All the same, there’s always a rider or two getting frustrated about the lack of coherence in hauling them in. The laws of physics prevail, and the first break fizzles out eventually.

I can hear Chris cheer me on each lap which is motivating. I concentrate on my line, holding it, seizing gaps where possible and generally keeping my nose clean. As expected, I don’t feel I can be in a small break. I just need to watch out for a big split. I can feel this isn’t going to happen though after a while.

The wind is a bit tasty. As much as it’s valuable to look at those big flags you get at events for the direction, you can’t beat throwing a bit of grass up in the air before a race for the truth.

It gets tight at times. This Leicester doesn’t feel that wide. I go onto the grass on one lap to avoid a clash. In these situations you don’t panic, just glide back on and everything is all right. I get a good backside push on another lap. No problem. ‘On your left’, ‘On your right’. All the good calls you want in a race. No daft riding here which was appreciated.

A second break is brought in. Then on 37 minutes, the decisive break from Ian, who everyone seemed to fear, was made. He would take another rider with him and the bunch would let him go pretty easily.

The last laps approach and the race dynamic changes. The bunch gets top heavy as people prepare for the sprint. The last few laps are very twitchy. We are wide across the lane and very tight as everyone jostles for the sprint. I find myself in the middle of the bunch at times and hate it: locked in shoulder to shoulder. There’s few oohs and aaahs as riders barge each other. I see one rider barged and he has to unclip to save himself. He skips along the road on foot at 30mph+ and re-clips without losing too much momentum. It’s impressive control regained. I can see Verulam Chris inching forward. I want to keep on his wheel but the way through is blocked. It’s always remarkable how you might have a few laps to make a simple move up a few bike lengths - yet it’s just not doable. Stuck.

Into the final lap and final bend, it’s high speed but I’ve got something extra in the tank to give. I am forced wide if I’m to apply any sprint. This puts me out of the draught, and I lose momentum, but I gain a clean run. My sprint is OK. I can hold a decent effort for 10 seconds, albeit I won’t be strong enough to gain ground. The front of the tight sprint pulls away while I come in just off the back of it but ahead of the string of others behind.

I replay the last moments over and over. It’s hard to see what else I could have done except to maybe find more confidence in my endurance to move up and hold a premium position early on. I eventually scan the data. I’m 21st and ahead of me are many names I know to be strong. I’m happy with that.

I return to the car park and change. I have a good post-race chat with Chris. He has crazy high power and he’ll smash a race soon, with a bit of luck, choosing the right break. I decide to have a peep at the Cat 3-4 race going on after ours. As I rock up, there’s a crash at the most basic point of the course. Four riders down. Three get back up gingerly, one a lot slower. I’m thankful our race ended safe and well. Take out the neutralised laps and our race is well over 27mph average. Dynamic and speedchess-like reactions required at all times.

Tired of sugary things, I crave salt, so stop off at the nearby McDonalds on the way back. The most biblical thunderstorm kicks off in the drive-thru. I wonder what would have happened to our race in such conditions. As I carefully navigate the motorway with Lance Armstrong’s ‘The Move’ on Spotify, I wonder if they black flag circuit races for lightning as we all go around a big open field sat on quite metallic things.

I think about next year’s Masters and take a look at the results for this year’s 50-54 category. I’m slightly disappointed to see names of strong riders I know struggle to reach the points. It’s a useful reminder that it never gets easier - we just get older.

Manchester City host Chelsea this weekend and will be hoping to continue their comeback from a 2-1 loss to Newcastle in January. Having won their last two, City are back on track and have capitalised on their title rivals, Liverpool, dropping seven points from their last five games, thus surrendering a seven-point lead they held at Christmas. Now level on 62 points, City will be cheering on Bournemouth on Saturday, who visit Anfield. Then the onus is on the champions to get a win against the Blues – who inflicted their first defeat of the Premier League season in December – and keep their seat at the top of the table. This week’s chosen fans, Digital Sport editor and Manchester City fan Chris McMullan and Chelsea-mad TT assistant editor George Blake, offer their predictions ahead of the huge clash… BERNARDO SILVA PLAYED AT CENTRE-MID IN THE ABSENCE OF KEVIN DE BRUYNE EARLIER IN THE SEASON BUT IS NOW BACK ON THE WING. HAVE CITY MISSED HIS ENERGY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARK AT TIMES? Chris: “I think City have lacked energy full stop in the last few games. Scoring early – arguably too early in hindsight – against Newcastle seemed to have a tranquilising effect on the team whilst against Arsenal and Everton, the Blues came through but without a certain verve. “Would moving Bernardo back into the middle help in that regard? I’m not so sure – the fact that City are in a title race should focus minds, and De Bruyne’s slow return to form should help, too. Perhaps the more salient point is whether Bernardo’s lack of pace and directness in comparison with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane is a factor in City’s overall lethargy.” George: “I think you could argue that pushing Bernardo out wide does make life more difficult for City, in that they have less energy in the middle of the park, but the tradeoff is having De Bruyne in there instead. Nobody in the Premier League can pass quite like the Belgian, and let’s not forget, he was the heartbeat of this team prior to his recent run of injuries. “In truth, it’s more of a win/win situation for Pep Guardiola, as though he may lose something in moving Silva out, he’s gaining a whole lot more by being able to include De Bruyne. And Bernardo isn’t ineffective on the flanks, either, so it’s still working for City. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the pair get better in the coming weeks with more time playing in their respective positions.” An unlikely engine in the City side, the former Monaco man was used alongside the other Silva in Guardiola’s midfield as De Bruyne recovered from a knee injury and impressed, but since the Belgian’s return, he has been shifted back out to the wing. De Bruyne can do things with a football that no other Premier League player can and, as indispensable as he and David Silva are, one wonders if they have missed Bernardo’s legs in the middle. The 24-year-old broke the season record – previously held by himself – for ground covered in City’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool, clocking an incredible 13.7km. Chelsea have a similar workhorse in their midfield… N’GOLO KANTE HAS – CONTROVERSIALLY – BEEN DEPLOYED FURTHER FORWARD BY MAURIZIO SARRI THIS SEASON. DO CITY HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HIM WHEN HE GETS ON THE BALL AS MUCH AS WHEN HE’S OFF IT? George: “A lot has been made about the positional change for N’Golo Kante, but as a Chelsea fan I just don’t see it. There’s been this strange discourse surrounding Kante’s importance to the team, and it flipflops on a week to week basis. If he plays poorly, suddenly Sarri is the devil, but if he plays well, it’s a bit of genius from the Italian. “The reality is that Kante suits the position well. He’s still able to impact the game defensively, but he’s also able to make use of his other traits, like his great passing range, to make an impact going forward, as he did with Gonzalo Higuain’s first goal last weekend. I read somewhere that he’s got three goals in his last 25 games, whereas Mateo Kovacic has scored one in his last 95 games. I think that tells you all you need to know about which player is playing too far forward.” Chris: “Jurgen Klopp used to claim his gegenpressing style was his best playmaker and winning the ball deep into the opposition’s half is about as dangerous an opportunity as you could wish for. The attacking team is turned on the back foot in an instant and the defenders who’d been set up to attack are now in no position to defend. “While it’s true that Kante has a peculiar knack of dribbling the ball 20 yards without succumbing to a challenge and is particularly hard to knock off the ball when he has it thanks to his low centre of gravity, it’s his ball-winning abilities in City’s defensive third rather than his ball-carrying ones that Guardiola will have to worry about.” Kante showed excellent vision to spot Higuain’s near-post run against Huddersfield and this was far from a one-off. The World Cup winning defensive midfielder has been ousted from that role by Sarri’s golden boy, Jorginho. The Frenchman’s tireless running is hugely important to his side and the more he plays in his new position, the more he will improve. While what Sarri is doing with Kante might not please some Blues fans, it will make Kante far more well-rounded and who knows what kind of beast he could become in the next few years. While the aforementioned midfield duo are shoe-ins in the Chelsea XI, it is far less certain as to who will occupy the right-wing slot… If you’re Aymeric Laporte, playing left-back for City, who would you rather face out of Willian and Pedro? Chris: “‘Would you rathers’ are rarely nice…. “This one, however, isn’t as horrible as it could’ve been thanks to the fact that Eden Hazard plays on the left for Chelsea. That doesn’t mean that he won’t drift, of course. “If I were Laporte, I think i’d prefer to come up against Willian just because Pedro’s pace is a little greater and the Brazilian is less likely to want to beat you on the outside. “Having said that, I do believe Willian is the player Guardiola will fear most because of his propensity to conjure something out of nothing, particularly from set pieces, and for the greater good you’d like to think Laporte would prefer to see Pedro lining up on the opposite side of the halfway line at kick-off.” George: “I know I’d rather be facing Willian. I think he is unfairly criticised for his contributions, as he’s a crucial part of the team and is very underrated – but as a defender you know exactly what to expect from him. He’s either going to pass it sideways or he’s going to go on the outside and cross the ball. “Pedro, meanwhile, is more dynamic and can cut in or go out or pass around you. I think Pedro’s been a bit of a secret weapon for the Blues this season, and he’s always a goal threat.” Sarri, though, seems to prefer the Brazilian to Pedro – former Shakhtar man Willian has made 21 league starts to the Spaniard’s 14. Both got the nod last time the two top six sides met as Hazard stepped into a false-nine role, although, with the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, there will surely only be room for one of the wide-men this time around. They will have another opportunity to test their qualities against the champions this month though… How important is it, psychologically, for both teams to get three points from this game considering that the Carabao Cup final is just around the corner? George: “I think for Chelsea it goes beyond just the Carabao Cup. Another big loss and we’re back at the stage we were after Bournemouth. However, if we win – and Higuain scores again – we’ll be looking a whole lot better. “We’ve already proven that we can beat City, and so I don’t think that’s overly important, but it’s just about whether we can sustain a run of form leading into that fixture and beyond.” Chris: “Top six encounters are huge games in the season these days and you could go as far as to say era defining, too. At the Etihad Stadium around this time last year Antonio Conte’s Chelsea surrendered meekly and that display as much as anything else may have cost the Italian his credibility. “This time around, if Chelsea were to win, it could be era defining for Guardiola because, although his 100-point season is unlikely to be beaten, defeat here and in the Carabao Cup final could see his side unravel. Victories on an unstoppable march to multiple trophies would see this period of the year burnish the legend further and ensure that he and his team go down as one of English football’s greats. Having bested City last time out, Chelsea know that they’ve got another upset in them and they will go into the cup final with that knowledge regardless of Sunday’s result. For the Cityzens, though, a loss could sow some major doubts in the minds of the players, who will be faced with the prospect of their quadruple hopes crashing down going into the clash on 24th February. Finally, what are your score predictions? Chris: “On this week’s FIFpod I said 3-0 to Manchester City and – despite the fact I may now regret that hubris – I’m going to have to stick to it.” George: “This is a rare game in that if we lost I wouldn’t be too heartbroken, as I really don’t want to see Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, but it’s important that we get a good result so we stay ahead of the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal. I am trash with my trashy ships and trashier headcanons someone stop me plz Continuation of my previous post -When do the mind swaps occur? During P4 for Rise's timeline (maybe Naoto's rescue mission?) and During P5 for Ann's timeline (3rd palace? or later but preferably 3rd) -is there a "Rise is dead" timeline? Yes. The timeline where Rise is dead gets overwritten though (similarly but different to KnnW) which is why to everyone in P5 Rise's poster at the station has "always been there" -how do they each deal with hiding their personae "changing" "Ann" volunteers to stay in the second party while exploring the palace on switching days. "Rise" makes excuses about being busy and asks if Teddie can be the navigator that day -do their teammates realize something is off? OBVIOUSLY this is persona we're talking about... The investigation team try to question "Rise" but she is very good at avoiding them on switching days--- probably because they're trying to find her where Rise would go, but it's Ann they're chasing soooooo XD it's the avoiding that's making them more suspicious though lol. The Phantom Thieves are just kinda like "We gotta deal with Kaneshiro*... she's not upset or anything so let's just leave her be. She'll tell us when she's ready" because "Ann" is super bubbly and stuff so it's odd but not necessarily a bad thing... they think? *whatever palace boss they're dealing with at the time -Why wouldn't Ann recognize Rise immediately when they switch bodies? Because Ann is originally in the "Rise's dead" timeline. She probably briefly remembers Risette from when she was in middle school but it's been years since Rise died and when switching bodies she's probably not going to automatically remember a dead idol she may not have even been a fan of. The switching bodies thing is weird enough thank you. But honestly she probably has an odd feeling of dejavu when she looks in the mirror and sees Rise's face but doesn't know where she has seen her before. -Do they have any habits that annoy the other Yesss Rise needs her coffee in the morning. It has to be super dark and bitter with no added ANYTHING or else she's a grump for the rest of the day. And if she's having a stressful day she'll keep drinking coffee the entire day--- aka every time they switch Rise ends up stressing out and ends up drinking enough coffee that she might as well drag an IV around with coffee in it lol Ann hates this because when they switch back she'll be all jittery and sometimes the coffee after taste will still be there when she wakes up and no amount of mouth wash will get rid of it. Ann likes coffee but she has to put lots of sugar and cream in it to the point that it's not really coffee anymore cuz there's no bitterness... (When they meet in person and start dating Ann is constantly telling Rise to go brush her teeth because no way are they kissing when Rise has extreme coffee breath. Rise kisses her anyway because fuck that) When Ann is in Rise's body she eats all of the sweets in Inaba if possible. Rise is [i]livid[/i] because Ann may be able to eat junk and not gain anything but Rise has to work out to maintain her figure thank you very much. (Ann is constantly taking selfies of "herself" while eating these sweets to chronicle what she's eaten that day though, and Rise kinda finds it adorable even tho Ann is in her body and it's kinda weird to see Ann being cute as her) When Rise brings Ann to Inaba for the first time (they still don't remember yet) to try the local sweets Ann is just kinda like "Why is this so familiar-- I've never been to Inaba..." (technically she has but she doesn't count that because she just kinda wandered the outskirts and she can't remember why she did sooo) -Habits they both end up having because of the mind swapping? It starts with Rise writing a sticky note and falling asleep with it on her face. Ann wakes up to "Seriously stop eating so much cake I'm gaining weight this isn't fun >___>" Ann replies back with sticky notes covering Rise's mirror completely that just all say "NO >;D" on them. Then they start a sticky note war that lasts a week or two. Rise's grandma is very confused lol. Once their war ends they will each write little "good morning <3" s to each other or "I made you lunch last night <3" When they meet again in person they still leave sticky notes for each other--- even before they regain their memory of each other--- They have no idea how they started doing this but it's familiar to them both. -When do they start to suspect there's more to the body switching and who notices first? Rise notices almost immediately that the technology level is a little bit too sophisticated for her time. (She just was in Tokyo a couple months ago there's no way it's changed this quickly) but doesn't want to consider maybe something else is going on because she's caught up in hiding her true identity as NOT ANN from the Phantom Thieves--- plus time travel and body swapping at the same time? Ridiculous there's no way--- Ann doesn't notice right away since Inaba is known for being a country-bumpkin kinda place where technology is like a decade behind. One day she tries to search herself on facebook though and--- oh shit thats her in middle school wtf. When she's back in her own body she searches Rise on facebook and finally makes the connection between Rise and Risette.... and finds out that Rise is dead... -How Rise died? I'm still a bit unsure on that. Right now I'm thinking that she was going to take the train back to Tokyo for the weekend to speak with Inoue about restarting her career--- then there is a huge train collision due to Japan's department of Transportation being lazy about stuff (P5 reference lol)---- and no one survives the crash.... There's a memorial at the site of the crash, which is within walking/driving distance of Inaba. All the victims names were written on an epitaph there, which Ann will visits to make sense of Rise having been dead for years already. -How does Ann reset the timeline? I'm still REALLY UNSURE ABOUT THIS ONE ☝️ Mostly because the way Rise dies is kinda still iffy for me.... but also because how the hell is Ann going to stop a train if I keep it as the method of death? Obviously Ann has to recruit Yu and the rest of the investigation team because that girl needs back up on this. The investigation team have complete faith in her because they know that Rise has good intuition--- and they still think she's Rise, even if she's been acting odd lately. When Ann switches to Rise so she can stop the train (or w/e it is), Rise ends up at the memorial in Ann's body. And she's just like; "Oh. Well I guess that explains a lot" - Does the sunset/twilight scene from KnnW happen with the girls in this AU? YES BECAUSE IM NOT ORIGINAL TT-TT ALSO BECAUSE I CAN IMAGINE RISE REALIZING SHE CANT REMEMBER ANN'S NAME AND JUST OPENING UP HER HAND AND SEEING "I LOVE YOU" AND JUST LOOSING HER COMPOSURE COMPLETELY And the rest of the investigation team are just so confused like "Rise we just saved hundreds of people why are you crying?" -How do they meet again? I'm kinda on the fence on if it would be like the end of KnnW or if they end up working together for a photo shoot or something and start hanging out afterwards... both could work very well but I'm leaning towards the original KnnW way because it's cute and the photo shoot one would just be the two of them being like "omg she's hot... and kinda familiar wtf?" -What do their friends think of their relationship? "You two are cute together but holy fuck do you move fast are you sure you don't need to slow down?!?" These two are like the definition of U-hauling with Rise finding herself staying at Ann's house almost every night within a week of knowing her (They're not having sex yet, let alone dating--- I just mean they're extremely domestic w/ each other and everything's just-- so comfortable?) Like Rise wakes up to Ann cooking breakfast one morning and is just like "Wow she's so amazing! I could spend the rest of my life with her" and then she has to backtrack that thought like "We aren't even dating where did that even come from?" "Could be era defining for Guardiola" - Fan Predictions: Man City vs Chelsea

Now level on 62 points, City will be cheering on Bournemouth on Saturday, who visit Anfield. Then the onus is on the champions to get a win against the Blues – who inflicted their first defeat of the Premier League season in December – and keep their seat at the top of the table.

This week’s chosen fans, Digital Sport editor and Manchester City fan Chris McMullan and Chelsea-mad TT assistant editor George Blake, offer their predictions ahead of the huge clash…

Bernardo Silva played at centre-mid in the absence of Kevin de Bruyne earlier in the season but is now back on the wing. Have City missed his energy in the middle of the park at times?

Chris: “I think City have lacked energy full stop in the last few games. Scoring early – arguably too early in hindsight – against Newcastle seemed to have a tranquilising effect on the team whilst against Arsenal and Everton, the Blues came through but without a certain verve.

“Would moving Bernardo back into the middle help in that regard? I’m not so sure – the fact that City are in a title race should focus minds, and De Bruyne’s slow return to form should help, too. Perhaps the more salient point is whether Bernardo’s lack of pace and directness in comparison with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane is a factor in City’s overall lethargy.”

George: “I think you could argue that pushing Bernardo out wide does make life more difficult for City, in that they have less energy in the middle of the park, but the tradeoff is having De Bruyne in there instead. Nobody in the Premier League can pass quite like the Belgian, and let’s not forget, he was the heartbeat of this team prior to his recent run of injuries.

“In truth, it’s more of a win/win situation for Pep Guardiola, as though he may lose something in moving Silva out, he’s gaining a whole lot more by being able to include De Bruyne. And Bernardo isn’t ineffective on the flanks, either, so it’s still working for City. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the pair get better in the coming weeks with more time playing in their respective positions.”

An unlikely engine in the City side, the former Monaco man was used alongside the other Silva in Guardiola’s midfield as De Bruyne recovered from a knee injury and impressed, but since the Belgian’s return, he has been shifted back out to the wing.

De Bruyne can do things with a football that no other Premier League player can and, as indispensable as he and David Silva are, one wonders if they have missed Bernardo’s legs in the middle.

The 24-year-old broke the season record – previously held by himself – for ground covered in City’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool, clocking an incredible 13.7km. Chelsea have a similar workhorse in their midfield…

N’Golo Kante has – controversially – been deployed further forward by Maurizio Sarri this season. Do City have to worry about him when he gets on the ball as much as when he’s off it?

George: “A lot has been made about the positional change for N’Golo Kante, but as a Chelsea fan I just don’t see it. There’s been this strange discourse surrounding Kante’s importance to the team, and it flipflops on a week to week basis. If he plays poorly, suddenly Sarri is the devil, but if he plays well, it’s a bit of genius from the Italian.

“The reality is that Kante suits the position well. He’s still able to impact the game defensively, but he’s also able to make use of his other traits, like his great passing range, to make an impact going forward, as he did with Gonzalo Higuain’s first goal last weekend. I read somewhere that he’s got three goals in his last 25 games, whereas Mateo Kovacic has scored one in his last 95 games. I think that tells you all you need to know about which player is playing too far forward.”

Chris: “Jurgen Klopp used to claim his gegenpressing style was his best playmaker and winning the ball deep into the opposition’s half is about as dangerous an opportunity as you could wish for. The attacking team is turned on the back foot in an instant and the defenders who’d been set up to attack are now in no position to defend.

“While it’s true that Kante has a peculiar knack of dribbling the ball 20 yards without succumbing to a challenge and is particularly hard to knock off the ball when he has it thanks to his low centre of gravity, it’s his ball-winning abilities in City’s defensive third rather than his ball-carrying ones that Guardiola will have to worry about.”

Kante showed excellent vision to spot Higuain’s near-post run against Huddersfield and this was far from a one-off. The World Cup winning defensive midfielder has been ousted from that role by Sarri’s golden boy, Jorginho.

The Frenchman’s tireless running is hugely important to his side and the more he plays in his new position, the more he will improve. While what Sarri is doing with Kante might not please some Blues fans, it will make Kante far more well-rounded and who knows what kind of beast he could become in the next few years.

While the aforementioned midfield duo are shoe-ins in the Chelsea XI, it is far less certain as to who will occupy the right-wing slot…

If you’re Aymeric Laporte, playing left-back for City, who would you rather face out of Willian and Pedro?

Chris: “‘Would you rathers’ are rarely nice….

“This one, however, isn’t as horrible as it could’ve been thanks to the fact that Eden Hazard plays on the left for Chelsea. That doesn’t mean that he won’t drift, of course.

“If I were Laporte, I think i’d prefer to come up against Willian just because Pedro’s pace is a little greater and the Brazilian is less likely to want to beat you on the outside.

“Having said that, I do believe Willian is the player Guardiola will fear most because of his propensity to conjure something out of nothing, particularly from set pieces, and for the greater good you’d like to think Laporte would prefer to see Pedro lining up on the opposite side of the halfway line at kick-off.”

George: “I know I’d rather be facing Willian. I think he is unfairly criticised for his contributions, as he’s a crucial part of the team and is very underrated – but as a defender you know exactly what to expect from him. He’s either going to pass it sideways or he’s going to go on the outside and cross the ball.

“Pedro, meanwhile, is more dynamic and can cut in or go out or pass around you. I think Pedro’s been a bit of a secret weapon for the Blues this season, and he’s always a goal threat.”

Sarri, though, seems to prefer the Brazilian to Pedro – former Shakhtar man Willian has made 21 league starts to the Spaniard’s 14. Both got the nod last time the two top six sides met as Hazard stepped into a false-nine role, although, with the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, there will surely only be room for one of the wide-men this time around.

They will have another opportunity to test their qualities against the champions this month though…

How important is it, psychologically, for both teams to get three points from this game considering that the Carabao Cup final is just around the corner?

George: “I think for Chelsea it goes beyond just the Carabao Cup. Another big loss and we’re back at the stage we were after Bournemouth. However, if we win – and Higuain scores again – we’ll be looking a whole lot better.

“We’ve already proven that we can beat City, and so I don’t think that’s overly important, but it’s just about whether we can sustain a run of form leading into that fixture and beyond.”

Chris: “Top six encounters are huge games in the season these days and you could go as far as to say era defining, too. At the Etihad Stadium around this time last year Antonio Conte’s Chelsea surrendered meekly and that display as much as anything else may have cost the Italian his credibility.

“This time around, if Chelsea were to win, it could be era defining for Guardiola because, although his 100-point season is unlikely to be beaten, defeat here and in the Carabao Cup final could see his side unravel. Victories on an unstoppable march to multiple trophies would see this period of the year burnish the legend further and ensure that he and his team go down as one of English football’s greats.

Having bested City last time out, Chelsea know that they’ve got another upset in them and they will go into the cup final with that knowledge regardless of Sunday’s result. For the Cityzens, though, a loss could sow some major doubts in the minds of the players, who will be faced with the prospect of their quadruple hopes crashing down going into the clash on 24th February.

Finally, what are your score predictions?

Chris: “On this week’s FIFpod I said 3-0 to Manchester City and – despite the fact I may now regret that hubris – I’m going to have to stick to it.”

George: “This is a rare game in that if we lost I wouldn’t be too heartbroken, as I really don’t want to see Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, but it’s important that we get a good result so we stay ahead of the likes of Man Utd and Arsenal. I’m going to go for 3-2 Chelsea.”

Last Friday, my husband's brother decided to give his 2005 Hyundai Elantra (53,000 miles) to us as a free gift. We decided to sell the Malibu to some friends of ours (with whom we have been friends for quite a few years). My friends have already paid us and they have a Bill of Sale and next week we are getting a duplicate of the Chevy title in the mail (because we lost ours), at which time we will transfer. Here is where the confusion begins: My mother-in-law (who is a retired State Farm insurance agent) drew up a Bill of Sale that indicated as its last sentence at the end, Buyer will show proof of liability insurance at the time the car is received (or something like that; I don't have the Bill of Sale in front of me). We saw our friends today to get the Bill of Sale notarized (they already paid for the car; we're just waiting for the title for the Malibu to arrive via mail, as mentioned above). Their insurance agent is about 90 miles away, I find out, and will need pictures of the car. Our friends insist that my mother-in-law is just being a mom since we're new at such a transaction (our friends have owned and sold boats, cars, etc., so they are experienced at this, too), meaning that she's being overcautious by saying they need to present proof of liability insurance at the exact time I give them the keys to the car. So, once I give them the title and the keys, are they responsible for when they get the car insurance? My Hyundai is covered through my insurance agent (my mother-in-law called them and got coverage on it already), but she insists that I am not to get insurance verification on the Hyundai until the friends show proof of their insurance on the Malibu after they get possession of it. Is that correct, or is my mother-in-law just being overcautious? While shopping for car insurance, I usually use a fake name/address with all my real information (DOB, driving record, etc) just so I don't get a bunch of annoying calls/emails from every company I get a quote from.
