Why Ankeral Acrylic Fish Tanks Are the Best Choice for Fish and Turtle Lovers
Acrylic Fish Tanks Are Changing the Way We Keep Aquatic Pets
In recent years, more people have started choosing acrylic fish tanks over traditional glass ones—and it’s not hard to see why. Whether you’re setting up a peaceful golden fish tank in your living room or creating a small home for turtles, acrylic brings a mix of clarity, lightness, and durability that works well in almost any setting.
My first experience with acrylic was out of necessity. I needed something lighter than glass, something I could move on my own. What I didn’t expect was how clear and clean it would look—and how versatile it turned out to be. Over time, it’s become my go-to material for all my aquatic pets, and now I can’t imagine using anything else.
Why Acrylic Just Works
The first thing you notice is the weight difference. Carrying a 10 gallon fish tank made of acrylic is noticeably easier than its glass counterpart. That alone makes setup and maintenance much more manageable, especially if you like to rearrange your space from time to time, like I do.
Then comes the clarity. Acrylic has this crystal-clear quality that doesn’t distort the view the way some glass tanks do. Fish look brighter, plants pop more, and the overall feel is just cleaner. If you’re keeping colorful species—like in a golden fish tank—you’ll notice the difference immediately.
And when it comes to durability, acrylic wins again. It doesn’t shatter the way glass does. I’ve accidentally bumped into mine more than once, and there wasn’t even a crack. This kind of resilience gives you peace of mind, especially if you have pets or small kids around.
From Fish Tanks to Turtle Aquariums
At first, I used acrylic only for fish. But as my little hobby grew, I started experimenting. One of the best discoveries? Acrylic tanks work beautifully as turtle aquariums. Turtles are active and can be messy, but the acrylic surface is smooth and easy to clean. You don’t get the cloudy buildup you sometimes see with glass.
Plus, since acrylic is so strong, I’ve used it in a few unconventional setups. One tank houses a mix of small shrimp and snails; another is a 20 gallon fish tank with a waterfall feature. Each one has its own charm, and thanks to the flexibility of acrylic, I could drill in lights, filters, and even add feeding holes without damaging the tank.
Multiple Sizes, Multiple Uses
One of the biggest advantages of acrylic is how adaptable it is across different tank sizes. Whether you’re setting up a compact desktop small fish tank or a large statement aquarium in your living room, acrylic offers both strength and flexibility.
I currently have three tanks in regular use:
A small fish tank on my work desk with a single betta and some moss balls.
A 10 gallon fish tank in my kitchen, housing a peaceful community of guppies and neon tetras.
A 20 gallon fish tank by the window, home to two red-eared slider turtles with a basking platform.
But if you’re working with larger aquatic environments, acrylic becomes even more beneficial. I’ve helped a friend set up a 30 gallon fish tank for freshwater aquascaping—it was easy to handle despite the size, and the clarity was amazing. Another friend uses a 40 gallon fish tank for fancy goldfish, and swears by acrylic’s durability when it comes to active fish.
For more serious hobbyists or those with bigger pets, 50 gallon fish tanks and even 75 gallon fish tanks are popular choices. These provide more space for filtration systems, plant landscapes, or larger species like cichlids or koi. Thanks to the lighter weight of acrylic, moving or cleaning a 75 gallon tank isn’t as intimidating as it sounds.
And yes—there are even 100 gallon fish tanks made of acrylic. These massive setups make a stunning centerpiece, especially when paired with strong lighting and background décor. Whether you’re creating a tropical fish display or a turtle aquarium with multi-level platforms, acrylic handles it with ease.
No matter the size, acrylic tanks from Ankeral are built with precision and care. As a professional acrylic product manufacturer, Ankeral understands the needs of fishkeepers at every level—offering standard sizes as well as custom solutions for your dream fish aquarium or turtle tank.
Where Acrylic Tanks Make the Biggest Difference
Here are a few scenarios where acrylic tanks stand out:
Home Office Decor: A small fish tank brings life to your desk and reduces stress. Lightweight acrylic makes it easy to rearrange without help.
Children’s Rooms: Because acrylic doesn’t shatter, it’s a safer option for spaces where kids play. Add a few goldfish or guppies to a golden fish tank, and you’ve got a fun, educational setup.
Modern Interiors: Acrylic’s clear, frameless design complements minimal or modern homes, especially for larger displays like a 75 gallon fish tank or even 100 gallon fish tank.
Creative DIY Builds: From waterfall tanks to split-level turtle homes, acrylic lets you get creative. Ankeral even works with designers on custom aquarium shapes and setups.
Retail or Café Displays: Want to create a calming experience for customers? A clear acrylic fish tank is both practical and eye-catching.
Real-World Lessons
Here are a few things I’ve picked up along the way:
Avoid rough cleaning tools: Acrylic scratches more easily than glass, so soft cloths and acrylic-safe cleaners are a must.
Support matters: Always place your tank on a flat, level surface. Acrylic is strong, but it can flex over time if unsupported—especially for larger tanks like a 20 gallon fish tank.
Plan ahead: Because acrylic is easier to drill, you can customize it, but make sure you know where filters, cords, or LED lights will go before setup.
Where You Can Find the Best Acrylic Fish Tank?
I used to think of glass as the only “real” material for aquariums. Now, after using acrylic tanks for both fish and turtles, I’m convinced it’s the smarter choice—especially for everyday use. They’re clear, light, durable, and honestly, just more enjoyable to work with.
If you’re just starting out, or even if you’ve kept fish for years, I highly recommend trying an acrylic tank. Look for reliable brands like Ankeral, who understand the material and the needs of aquarists. Whether you’re building a turtle tank, a minimal small fish tank, or a bright golden fish tank for your living room, acrylic can adapt to your vision—and make it shine.
Common Questions People Ask About Acrylic Fish Tanks
Q1: Are acrylic fish tanks safe for turtles and other reptiles? Absolutely. Acrylic is non-toxic and safe for aquatic animals, including turtles. It holds water well, and its smooth surface is easier to clean than glass, making it ideal for messy pets like turtles. That’s why many people use it as a turtle fish tank.
Q2: Will acrylic tanks scratch easily? Acrylic is more prone to scratches than glass, but it’s also more impact-resistant. Most small scratches can be polished out with special kits. As long as you use soft sponges or microfiber cloths, you’ll be fine.
Q3: What size should I choose for my first tank? A 10 gallon fish tank or 20 gallon fish tank is perfect for beginners—it offers enough room for fish to thrive, but is still easy to manage. If you have more space or want to keep larger fish or turtles, consider a 30 gallon or 40 gallon fish tank.
Q4: Can I customize the shape or design? Yes! One of the best things about acrylic is that it’s easy to cut and shape. At Ankeral, many tanks are customizable—whether you need specific dimensions, a curved front, or even an L-shaped corner unit.
Q5: How long do acrylic fish tanks last? With proper care, an acrylic fish tank can last for many years. Some users report using the same fish aquarium for over a decade, especially when sourced from reliable manufacturers like Ankeral.

Chapter 4 - Futomaki: Six Pieces
I was so grateful to be back outside I nearly puked. I also nearly puked from about ten other things that had just happened in the meeting. For one, I don’t like unfamiliar basements. Second — and I didn’t know this until that moment — eel aquariums are terrifying. Can they see us out there, watching them from outside the tanks? God I hope not. I can’t even begin to convey how sweaty they made me through that whole meeting, and I’ll venture to say that any size aquarium, containing any kind of aquatic life, even the big ones with the big fish or an army of sea turtles, will trigger some serious underlying issues that I’ve worked my whole life to mask.
I don’t need to get into the other eight reasons. Unless you want to hear them…I can always include them in the appendix. Your call.
So we were outside milling around and smoking, the bosses all together touching one another’s lapels and counting threads, while me and the rest of the goons declaimed with tuna slung over our shoulders how relieved we were to not be standing in a circle and feeling at any moment two guys might be summoned to the center of the room to fight to the death. They were all like me — older white guys, a little out of shape but not cripplingly-so, dense and sturdy like an overstuffed salami, and looking like they’ve spent most of their adult lives honing that particular posture required for standing for hours outside nondescript warehouses.
“You know,” said one of them, suddenly and way too close to my ear, “five years ago, the mere mention of the Sushi Underground was a death sentence. Senju wouldn’t have it. Heads would’ve rolled.”
“Could you back off, buddy?” I said, elbowing myself out of his saliva-range.
He sighed. “I’m just excited. That meeting had a new feel. I’ve never seen such energy, such optimism. This might be a new era of sorts. I mean, it’s been fifteen years of standing in that basement, ignoring the elephant in the room.”
“More like two elephants in that room,” said another.
“That’s right.”
“Denial can only take you so far in life,” said a third.
“More like two elephants fucking in a room with all of us watching and not saying nothing.”
“That’s right.”
“You can’t survive when you punish those trying to explain the reality of the situation.”
“I prefer my phrasing,” said the fucking-elephants guy.
By now the goons had surrounded me, each spouting their own perspective, each talking over one another, all more or less in agreement, many shifting their tuna loins to give their shoulders a break. They were all repressed talkers. Being the new guy, I wasn’t quite sure to whom to listen. It all seemed fairly important — strategies for keeping their bosses happy in this new era they all supposed had arrived, predictions on how they were going to handle new enemies. Naturally I found myself staring at no one in particular, using my most respectable mouth-breathing technique, while doing my diligence with the occasional side-glance over at Matsuzaka.
“You were Takuto’s guy, right?” said a short guy, to me directly. “Tough luck on that one. You’ll be alright though. I’ve lost about ten bodies and look at me, eh? Still on the payroll.”
“That’s a relief.”
“You know I heard,” someone interrupted, “that that table, the one in the conference room, was made from wood illegally harvested from the sacred forests of the Ainu on a forbidden island off the northern tip of Hokkaido.”
“We already know that to be true.”
“Yeah well I need to restate it for the new guy so he feels included.”
“Yeah well I heard those early Sengoku period candelabras were stolen from the Kyoto Museum of National Exquisitry and are worth more than all the tuna over our shoulders and then some.”
“More like all the tuna in Japan!”
A few of them high-fived.
“They weren’t stolen,” said a small guy. “They belonged to Senju’s family. He’s a descendent of an ancient clan from that era. I won’t get into which one. It’s not really for me to tell but, I will say this…it’s one of the big ones.”
“Shiba?”
“No.”
“Hosokawa?”
“Wrong again.”
“It’s gotta be Hatakeyama?”
“Just stop. I’m not going to tell you even if you guess. It doesn’t do anybody any good being connected to medieval warlords of the old country, alrighty? We’re trying to keep a low profile. We don’t need everyone bragging about working for so-and-so from such-and-such clan. The point is, the guy’s got beaucoup pedigree. And loot to boot.”
“Senju is one of those old-school types that doesn’t care what’s who’s and who’s what’s.”
There was general consensus that this was true.
“You got a letter from the union yet?” One guy interrupted to ask me.
“About what?”
“The murder. Usually they’re all over that kind of thing.”
“Maybe they didn’t hear about it. Is that possible?”
The guy scrunched his face and looked a little displeased that he didn’t quite know the answer himself.
I turned back to the small fellow who seemed to know Senju so well. He wore large wrap-around prescription sunglasses that he might have lifted off an old dead man. “You Senju’s guy?” I asked.
“One of em. Name’s Jerry. Jerry Lodi. Twelve year veteran of the Sushi Guild. Glad to meet ya. You’ll like it. Don’t worry about flubbing the Takuto situation. When these people want someone dead, best to step aside. We don’t get paid to take bullets for people.”
“We don’t?”
“No. I mean, of course we take bullets for them. But they gotta be the right bullets, ya get me?”
“The right bullets?”
“Or the wrong bullets I guess would be another way of putting it.”
“So which are the right bullets and which are the wrong bullets.”
Lodi waved away the question, like I was his wife asking him an ancient riddle with no answer just as he was about to ask for a divorce.
“Come here a minute.” He took me aside, slung his arm over my shoulder, which was a good head above his. “You’re gonna need to take some advice from those who’ve been around if you’re going to survive here, okay? First, you’ve got tuna juice dripping all over your jacket. It’s slung way too far forward. Scoot it back so it drains on the sidewalk. Laundry costs can be through the roof in this gig. Second, get yourself a good santoku. These chef types respect a man with a nice sharp slice-em-up.” It was only as he stepped back to mime his ninja stab-and-slice combo I realized he wasn’t holding a tuna.
“Say, you don’t get to carry any tuna home tonight?”
“Not me my friend. I’ve put in my time.”
“One of the lucky ones I guess?”
“Luck don’t have nothing to do with it. And besides it’s called fortune in this business. You can call it luck if you want. That’s not it though. I play the game, and I play it right. You gotta remember, this council has a history stretching back centuries. Very much tied to the old country. What happens here is often out of our hands. The best thing you can do is let whatever will be, to be.”
He placed his hand on my shoulder and, I assume, stared deep into my eyes through his blackened prescription lenses. “You didn’t do much wrong, you understand? That Takuto thing was bigger than you.” And here he got real quiet. “And now that he’s been replaced, things around here will be moving a lot more smoothly.”
“If you don’t mind me asking…what happened to his last bodyguard?”
Just before Lodi could answer, the door to the headquarters creaked open and the large fellow in the oversized suit popped his head out and yelled “Matsuzaka! Inside!”
Without hesitation Matsuzaka sprang from his own group of fellows towards the open door, and with Lodi’s nod, I followed.

Our Top Six Resort Season Activities In South Padre

South Padre Island is, in our brain, the crown gem of Texas sea shores, and our beachfront resort stays an extraordinary goal long after summer is finished. The climate chills off, the groups subside, yet the dawns stay wonderful and the sound of the waves lapping the sea shore is excellent. While there's nothing superior to strolling along the Gulf of Mexico, it's in no way, shape or form the main enjoyable to be had on the island. Actually, there is such a great amount to do on South Padre, that it's no big surprise that individuals from around the express, the nation, and the world run to the island all year.
Obviously, on the ends of the week you can visit our indoor water park in our retreat (that is the place we prop that mid year vibe up), yet it would be a disgrace to pass up different sorts of experience occurring here and there the island. Along these lines, with our sacks stuffed, tanks full, and our locales set for the Rio Grande Valley, we paused for a moment to hit up our Texas group for their rundown of South Padre must-dos:
We love to get in some turtle time. In 1977 Ila Loetscher (known as "the Turtle Lady) began Sea Turtle Inc., concentrating on bringing back Kemp Ridley ocean turtles over from the edge of termination. While settling season is April through November, that doesn't mean you can't score some genuine turtle viewing in South Padre all year. Head over to Sea Turtle Inc. – we prescribe showing up so as to see a taking care of, either at 10:15 or 3 pm – and get familiar with everything you can about these astonishing animals. You'll even get an opportunity to see a portion of the occupant turtles and patients saved by volunteers. Remember whether it's cooler than 55 degrees out, the open air pools will be secured to keep the turtles warm.
Subtleties: Open Year Round, despite the fact that they do close a few ends of the week. Make certain to check the site. Not exactly a five-minute drive from our Resort.
Riding in the surf isn't simply in the motion pictures. The Stables on SPI (how local people allude to South Padre Island) offers horseback rides on the sea shore from dawn to nightfall consistently. Since SPI has perspectives on both the Gulf and the Bay, the destinations from horseback are lovely. What's more, on the off chance that you are staying for a spell, get some information about the polo matches. They offer exercises to the individuals who are keen on getting familiar with the game of rulers.
Subtleties: You'll need reservations so as to saddle up and we emphatically prescribe the dawn ride. Try not to stress, you won't need to find a workable pace, the Stables are just a five-minute drive from our Resort.
Lighting the path on Port Isabel. There were 16 beacons initially built along the Texas coast; just the Port Isabel Lighthouse is available to general society. With 75 winding stairs and three stepping stools prompting a view that is 50 feet off the ground, the Port Isabel Lighthouse is perhaps the best view on the island (beside our preferred view from our own one of a kind Sea 4 Ever). Which is the reason you'll need to bring a completely energized telephone or camera so you can exploit this present picture taker's mecca. There are additionally two exhibition halls on location; our suggestion is purchase the combo ticket and visit every one of the three.
Subtleties: The Lighthouse is a state recorded site, worked by the City of Port Isabel. Open all year (assuming the rainclouds hold back); directly over the extension from our Resort.
Winged animals of a plume really rush together. Get your binoculars, your camera, and your feeling of winged marvel, since directly outside of South Padre vacation rentals is the World Birding Center. Be that as it may, it's a whole lot more than a "middle" – it's really a system of nine distinctive birding destinations along 150 miles of notable waterway street, finishing with the South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center. In excess of 500 flying creature species make this area their home. Truth be told, this area is critical to the point that the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Rio Grande Valley Communities and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service all cooperated and devoted $20 million dollars to make the World Birding Center conceivable.
The South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center is on 50 sections of land of rich territory. What's more, it's an essential one too in light of the fact that, as the Center notes "South Padre Island is a urgent first landfall – a lifeline – for winged creatures making a strenuous cross-Gulf relocation from Southern Mexico and northern Central America. Particularly after a spring storm, lush bunches of the island abound with an eye-popping rainbow of larks, tanagers, orioles and thrushes. Wetlands harbor a scope of shorebirds and waterfowl, while jeopardized species, for example, the Brown Pelican, Piping Plover and Peregrine Falcon might be found here also." The Center has 3,300 feet of board walk and five feathered creature blinds – ideal for seeing these winged voyagers and local people the same.
Subtleties: Open all year, yet hours are regular. We prescribe getting before you head out. Just a ten-minute drive from our Resort
Try not to let the huge one escape. In the event that there is one side interest that is a most loved of our group, it's angling, and there is some entirely dynamite angling in the Gulf. Regardless of whether you are new to the entire snare and line thing or a devoted remote ocean angling lover, South Padre has a wide scope of angling aides and sanctions prepared to take you and your group out to their preferred spots. We prescribe looking at the posting on the South Padre CVB angling site to discover the perfect fit for you.
Subtleties: Charters run generally, and are (clearly) climate subordinate. A few aides are directly over the road from our Resort privateer transport Ye Black Dragon seen in the waters of the Gulf
Privateers of Padre. It is anything but a genuine visit to a tropical island in the event that you don't experience a privateer en route. Also, luckily, the privateer transport Black Dragon is secured directly on the island! Commander Black Hearted Andy and his diverse team will take you and yours on a privateer themed sail on a cutting edge copy of a seventeenth century vessel. Your journey will be loaded up with experience and diversion (yet no strolling of the board, me hearties!). You may even become familiar with a little sword battling, which, let's be honest, is an expertise that could be helpful further down the road.
Subtleties: The Black Dragon heads out at various occasions consistently, make certain to check the site. Directly over the scaffold from our Resort.
So there you have it – a genuine island of experience is anticipating you. Fortunately our Schlitterbahn Beachfront Resort on South Padre Island is the perfect venturing off point for all your island undertakings – and these are only a couple! Furthermore our property has full suites and a wide range of arrangements that are family well disposed (cots!) and steps from the sea shore. What's more, we have capable front work area staff to assist you with recognizing and book the encounters that are flawless memory creators for you and your family or companions.
Rates during our "resort season" signifies you get an astonishing arrangement and still find a good pace best the island brings to the table without the late spring swarms.

Nano Tanks
This week in my mind I’m redecorating aquariums I don’t have, contemplating a different range of snacks that I can now pick up, as well as where I’d like to go with that. I’m writing, and editing a ton, and getting ready for a re-issue of some older titles while I hammer out another manuscript in the mornings.
Aquariums
I love aquariums and have an obsession with them. Seems like a strange hobby for someone without the ability to put one together and aquascape it, besides the fact that I have no idea where I would put an aquarium if I had one, and certainly there’s no way to do maintenance on one. I have a Betta in a small square bowl at the end of my computer table called Merlin, so I’m getting some of the benefits of having a fish in that respect. He’s got to be one of the longest-lasting Father’s Day gifts ever.
None of that stops me from scouring YouTube to gather my thoughts and figure out what I’d like to do. Eventually, I’d like a fish room with five to eight-ten gallon tanks, at least two fifty-five gallon tanks, and a couple to three thirty-three or twenty-gallon tanks. I’ll go from there, but I think the idea of breeding fish is interesting, in addition to getting a turtle. The mascot of the GBS Warriors is a turtle, the whole Getting Better Slowly thing, so once I’ve got a tank together that could handle a good-sized turtle, I’m getting one. I know red-eared (possibly yellow-bellied) sliders are kind of a red flag that’s-too-big kind of turtle, but I don’t care. Every time I see it in my mind, I’ve got a slider in there. I’m looking forward to him or her.
As for what breeds I’m interested in, I want to do guppies, easy enough right? Females practically get sold to you pregnant, and shrimp, various species, but I’ll start with some cherry shrimp. I’ll keep it easy to start. I also want to try angelfish, and strangely discus, which I know is a stretch from those other fish. After that maybe I’ll settle down a while. One thing I know is that I want to see how many tanks I can get donated to the cause so-to-speak. I want to see, when I get it all started up, how many tanks I can find whose owners have decided to get out of the hobby. I also want to get into planted tanks. The only problem I have with planted tanks is that aside from sword plants, nothing seems to have a common nickname to call it by. Everything feels so technical and biological in nature. I’ll sort it out.
There’s this guy on YouTube I like that does tanks planted so well that no filtration is needed at all. I’m not sure I want to go that far, but I think it would be something great to aspire to. I have a lot to learn from him. I think despite all this that when I feel like I’m ready for a new tank I’ll likely start with either a five or ten-gallon nano tank.
youtube
I think something like this would be a much better home for my very patient little blue fish. My little dude doesn’t have a bad life, living in the middle of my crazy room, but this just looks so nice.
Snacks
I’m obsessed with trail mix. The trouble with it is that I can’t really lift the little tiny cereal based pieces that most of the great ones are built from. I’m close, just not yet there. I’be even practicing with shredded mini wheats, but the Chex, well, let’s just say I’ll get there okay? What I gave done though, is rediscovered the Combo.
I’ve been getting combos, which are half cheese/half pretzel and mixed them with little peanut butter snacks, cashews, and dried dates. The peanut butter things are harsh on the roof of the mouth, so I’m not likely to do those again, but the rest of it is pretty good. The dates are freaking me out though they do serve great as large-sized dried fruit if you aren’t looking closely, they kind of look like roaches. (Sorry dried dates!)
Writing
this week I’ve been chugging along on my space story, throwing about eight thousand words at it. I’m having fun with it, and I’m building an outline for this November’s NaNoWriMo event (something that I’ll keep doing, even if they quit it. They just updated their website, so go check them out.
http://www.nanowrimo.org
Editing
Easily
I want to pay homage to Grammarly, and their staff. With its input, which I probably wasn’t ready for when I first released them, I’m using it to scan through older work. Not every change it suggests, do I count as law, especially some of the more ambiguous stuff, but by and large they are helping me make lots of tiny changes that are making them read a little better. I’m also using a text-to-speech program to help me listen to a draft of a chapter as I read it again. I’ve always heard that reading a manuscript aloud can help, and this process, now a permanent part of my editing process I think is helping me notice even more clunky phrases that with a little tweaking sound much better.
So, keep a small aquarium? What’s in your Nano Tank?

alright heres some of my homestuck/warcraft headcanon shit
basically just like
what race they’d be/play, what class, what spec, how theyd play, how often they play, etc, etc...
idk how many characters im doing so more below the read more bullshit
mostly a ramble tbh lmao
(beta + alpha kids, beta trolls, calliope + caliborn. sorta a everyone lives/nobody dies au)
if u need to know what smth means just hmu
OKAY so lets start off with the kids
ok personally i think john would play either a monk or a paladin?? like i think he’d prefer the playstyle of a paladin but his monk would be for heals in case a raid group or smth needs it. he’d honestly probably do LFR and just casually play in general, but sometimes he’d play for like 11 days straight then not get back on for 2 months. but when he’s playing casually he just does LFR and world questing, maybe sometimes doing dungeon groups with dave or something. he’d probably be a DPS paladin because tanking is bullshit and so is healing. (believe me i know) he’d also use the heckin goofiest mounts there are. like you know the chicken? he’d spend the money to get it. like actual cash. he wants the chicken. let him have the chicken. but back on the topic of race he’d probably play a dwarf or a gnome. he’d probably have a level 2 gnome hunter. he also runs a prank guild that all the kids are in! a few trolls are in it, too. vriska, kanaya, terezi, and karkat are in it.
rose??? would probably play a shadow priest. probably nothing else, really. she may go heals every once in a while but dont expect her to want to. she plays a human. she only plays human and worgen. belf if she has to go horde. i dont really know if she’d just play casually because dave roped her in, or if she got really into it so now she has 12 max level characters. even if she doesnt like the game itself, she’d probably really like the lore!!! she’d probably also love the idea of xmog and what you can make your characters look like, bc some of the xmog is really badass. she’d probably use the emo purple bird thing as a mount (i forgot the name) or maybe she’d use the wotlk undead dragons. maybe the bc netherwing dragons?? im not sure!!! for pets she’d def have the feline familiar with her at all times (roxy would too) because who doesnt want a little witch kitty flying on a broom with you???
dave would honestly play a survival hunter. except he’d just punch shit to death. just autoattack. though when he’s ACTUALLY playing like a normal person he’d probably play a dps warrior. i could also see him tanking sometimes if he needs to. he probably only has one or two max level characters, but they have decent gear. he probably sometimes actually plays his hunter in a decent way but he probably just goes to low level neutral areas. he probably plays on a pvp server for that exact reason. he has one level 10 belf. he uses it to dance on mailboxes and get gold. he really just trolls people on it. he also roleplays, but makes sure to do it in the shittiest way possible. he only uses walk. no running. he uses the biggest mounts he has and walks on roleplayers when hes playing on an rp server. he probably raids on his warrior and is probably in a raiding guild. he purposefully mic spams the raid so he just gets muted, though. for mounts he’d obviously use the love rocket that he worked oh so hard for. for pets i dont really know what hed use?? probably brightpaw or whatever the purple cat thing is. he makes rose disappointed because he pays for mounts and pets with real money. tsk tsk. he has no professions except fishing, which he has maxed out. he may also have a DK that he has just to piss people off. hes the second highest tier in the prank guild. whenever they do raids (they occasionally do) he rp walks across the map to get to the raid. kanaya screams at him to accept the summon but he insists that he’s almost there.
jade would def have herbalism as her main profession!! she may also have mining to sell on the auction house. she would DEFINITELY play a bm hunter!! its a worgen all the way. she prefers to have it in worgen form too. since she doesnt really like horde and cant use many wolf mounts, shed def go with the mechanostriders! for flying i think she’d use the serpents!! i could also see her using the pandaren turtle moutns. her fave xpac is def either mop or wod. she actually liked garrisons. she’s really slow w leveling so she isn’t max level for legion, but her friends still play with her!! (me too buddy) she likes doing mount/pet/reagent farming and regularly gives her friends herbs and other mats to level their professions! she also sometimes roleplays with dave in goldshire to mess with people. she loves using emotes like /lol and /joke! she also uses toys VERY often. her hunter pet is a white wolf named bec, and she has a team of battle pets consisting of fel pup, frostwolf ghostpup, and cinder pup! sometimes she’ll use lil bad wolf, though. she’s actually super good at pet battling, but she only battles friends. she doesnt play to be the “best”, she just plays because its a fun game! she also loves playing hearthstone.
jane doesnt play much, and has a level 60 dwarf resto shaman. the only reason she has looms is because roxy gave her the gold to get them. she only has level 20 riding, and only has a single horse. she still plays with friends, but the game just really isnt her cup of tea. she has a few cool pets she found while playing in low level areas, and she likes playing the auction house when she does play! she’s in a prank guild that john owns (all the kids are in it, they prank the trolls and roleplayers) and that’s honestly the thing she enjoys the most.
roxy loves doing pvp with dirk. some of her friends call them the sneakies. she plays a rogue, and switches around her spec depending on what kind of pvp she’s doing. (as in she switches specs for open world, battlegrounds or arenas) she’s decked out in full pvp gear and always gets the newest tiers when theyre released. though she loves pvp she really does love raiding but she prefers playing with her friends! she helps everyone exploit game bugs for the prank guild, and will help cover peoples tracks when gold buying and such. she has all of her fun mounts set as favorites and just randomizes which one she rides. she uses the feline familiar pet EVERYWHERE. she wont use any other pet. at all. roxy also datamines ptr and spoils new lore for rose occasionally.
hoo boy. dirk is a top tier pvper. he mostly mains a ww monk and a rogue for pvp. he has 12 max level characters and 12 horde ones that are also max. he chooses class/race combos based on which one is the most reasonable for lore. he has an orc hunter named getshrekt. hes gold capped on all of his alliance characters. hes basically sleeve (if you play on bonechewer i hope you know who im talking about) he multiboxes 25 accounts to shit on leveling players. roxy helped him set this all up. all of his bots and multiboxes are hal. hal plays with him. he buys gold from a third party source and overthrows the wow economy. he causes the great depression in wow. he buys out every mat and then puts them back on the auction house for a few silver. since hes gold capped this has 0 affect. his character for the prank guild is maxed out and in pretty decent pvp gear. its also gold capped. he buys level boosts and uses actual money to buy tokens to increase his gold numbers. hes everyones worst nightmare. hes the reason no one plays horde on dirks server. dirk plays with roxy a LOT. they do arenas and basically just crush anyone who dares standing up to him. he exploits game bugs and has items people didnt know exist. he uses his special snowflake mounts that people thought were unattainable. he has bots farming spawn points for herbs and mining nodes. he plans on ruling the economy of his server. he ganks people that are his own level. he camps their corpses until they force quit the game. hes absolutely hated. he’ll be flying, and itll look like someone with a glitched name. then he’ll land in front of someone, and 20 multiboxes will spread out behind him. he ganks his victim. there is no escape. no mercy.
jake plays a worgen mm hunter! he refuses to use bows and crossbows. it ALWAYS has to be xmogged to a gun. he mostly does world quests and only has horse mounts to keep it simple and traditional. he likes to collect pets and plays with jade a lot! he’s also in the prank guild and absolutely LOVES it. he loves the open world aspect of the game. he also collects random items in-game, like the scarabs from ahnqiraj (i personally collect those oops) he’s also a bit of an altoholic, and loves leveling, but never really finishes anything. he has all of the exploration achievements. ALL OF THEM. he love love LOVES exploring the maps in the game. he also actually LIKED the cata revamp because it gave him more to explore. he has a goblin thats also a hunter thats level capped just so he could explore horde areas without worrying about being ganked or attacked. he knows his way in all of the major cities. you know huntards? well jake is the complete opposite of that. hes an amazing hunter. it surprises his friends.
bonus: hal helps dirk with being an asshole to everyone on the servers he plays on. he multiboxes with dirk and set up bots to watch the auction house for him. hes just as much as an asshole as dirk is.
NOW FINALLY ON TO THE TROLLS!!!!
aradia plays a belf destruction warlock. she’s a casual player and plays with sollux a lot. she doesnt play very often, but when she does she gets really into the game, especially when playing with friends! she doesnt have many mounts, but she has the headless horseman mount and thats what she uses most of the time. she has maxed out archaeology and has all the items for it. though she has the pets from it, the only pets she uses are frogs.
tavros plays a gnome bm hunter unironically. hes not a very good hunter but not huntard level. he mostly plays with the other lowbloods, sometimes vriska. he only really got roped into wow because of its ties to hearthstone. he wanted to know more about the characters, but stayed because of the animals. it really isnt too much of his cup of tea, but still plays because his friends do. he doesnt have professions nor a maxed out character. he has the mechanostrider mounts and the default pets. he also has the heartstone mount.
sollux heckin loves wow. he plays a troll mage. he switches between fire and frost, but never arcane. he hates arcane. he mostly plays with aradia, but he likes the occasional raid. he has good dps with decent gear. hes mostly a casual, but he loves messing with the games files and datamining.
karkat is a....special player. he has a blood dk that hes maxed out but hes in all green quest gear. he keeps trying to defeat dave in a dual but it doesnt work. dave got rose and john to help convince karkat that gnome is masterrace. he believed them. now hes a shitty little gnome aggroing everything and getting caught in the fire. he’s very upset because he cant beat dave. help this poor boy. his only pets are crabs. he has all of them. every single one. they’re all the poorest quality, but he loves them anyways. the only mounts he’ll use is mammoths to be an asshole to everyone. he plays a lot because he wants to crush dave’s pride. help this boy.
nepeta plays either a bm hunter or a feral druid! she roped equius in, and they tried to level together, but equius went too fast, so nepeta doesnt have a maxed out character. she enjoys playing with him nonetheless, even if its just running around stormwind! she plays on a roleplay server (NOT moodguard) and loves roleplaying and meeting new people. she rides the tiger/saber mounts and has all of the cat pets! she almost refuses to go out of cat form when on her druid. both of her toons are nelfs.
kanaya mains a human affli warlock and a nelf demon hunter. she likes the aesthetic of both locks and dhs, but prefers the play style of a warlock. she plays with rose most of the time, and they do world quests when they play. she has tailoring and enchanting as her professions, and both are maxed out. she prefers this because she can just make her own gear to sell and get gold. she has the jade panther that rose made her, and uses that mount most of the time. she doesnt really like collecting pets, but rose gave her a moth that she adores.
terezi plays a resto druid on nepetas server, and mostly roleplays with vriska. she roleplays as a dragon most of the time. she has all of the dragon pets and mounts, and shes VERY proud of her collection and wont hesitate to rub it in vriskas face. she almost got banned multiple times trying to complete her collection. she prefers doing old world raids and farming to get xmog to improve her roleplay outfit, and so she can have different sets for different characters. she sometimes roleplays with nepeta, but most of the time she roleplays with vriska.
vriska plays a nelf demon hunter, and roleplays with terezi on her server. sadly theres no spider mounts but she has the recruit a friend rocket because she did raf with tavros. she does pvp when shes not roleplaying, and she’s trying to get on the highest level. she has all of the spider pets. every single one of them. she tries to overthrow the auction house, but cant. (shes not on dirks server, so hes not messing her up. its just that she doesnt have much gold because of xmog.) she likes to ruin some peoples rolaplays, but loves roleplaying with terezi and sometimes nepeta.
equius only got into the game because of nepeta. he didnt think hed like it at first, but he really does. he prefers to tank. he has a maxed out dk, warrior, monk, and paladin. he and nepeta tried to level characters together, but he went too fast for her. he has all of the horse mounts and will only ride those. hes not very interested in pets except the engineering ones, and engineering is maxed out on his main toon. he enjoys raiding in his free time, but will also pvp for mounts. hes mostly casual.
oh man, gamzee should be interesting. he plays a troll shaman. no one really knows what he does, really. they just see that hes online and in a major city. is he playing the auction house? is he talking to people? no one knows. when the darkmoon faire comes around, he plays for all 7 days straight. he doesnt really ride mounts or have pets, but he collects them. no one knows why he plays or HOW hes maxed out in raiding gear. he just is.
eridan is a whiny bitch when it comes to wow. he wants to get on dirks level but doesnt know how to. even though hes sometimes a bitch about it, he does enjoy roleplaying and playing with karkat. he plays an arcane mage or a mm hunter. the only mount he rides is the sea turtle mount. you know the one? the one that makes you slow on land but fast in water? yea. he rides that. he HAS other mounts, but he wants the turtle.
feferi does NOT like wow. i mean, yea, she’ll heal for raids, but she doesnt like killing things. she plays a resto shaman and doesnt use a specific mount because she doesnt play that often.
calliope also doesnt like wow, but will play with roxy. she likes doing pet battles, and thats really all she does. she has a level 10 druid that doesnt have a spec. she has no mounts but has cool pets that roxy gave her. she camps in stormwind and refuses to go ANYWHERE else.
caliborn LOVES world of warcraft. he roleplays with dirk on moonguard, but dirk says nothing. just to piss off caliborn. he tried to multibox to kill dirk, but he ended up freezing his game. he constantly pesters the alpha kids, and really doesnt talk to anyone else except to make fun of new players. he has 1 mount and its the goblin mount. he mains a goblin rogue thats level 40.

[HR] Puff, puff, passout
"I never was a morning person. Lately it's been harder to fall asleep at night. Reading or watching random Netflix series helped for a while but I needed a proper fix for this. No pills."
"So, what then?" she asked from behind the counter.
"Well, not a pup, obviously. I'll try a fish tank. I've seen those subreddits with planted things in tanks, they say it's relaxing to watch."
"Yeah, pretty dope. Anything specific?" kept chewing that gum. What a rhythm she has, geez. You can actually see the jaw muscles working along with that fucking annoying sound. Mouth half open. Fuck me.
"Sort of the reason I'm here, I need some guiding." And a phone number would do, I wonder what other chewing that mouth can take.
"Umm, yeah, tanks are in the back" quick popping sound, did she just pop a gum ballon? "Just don't stick your fingers in."
"Right..." should I read into that?
The store was pretty well stacked. Dog leashes. Treats. Cat litter boxes. The usual suspects. Way back in the store, in a dimly lit area with water filter buzzing sounds and splashes, was the aquarium section. Was this every pet shop ever? What a cliche. Must be some reasons behind it, tho. Turtles. Shrimp tanks. Gross. Maybe that's why they keep these in the back, why the fuck would anyone think of having bowls with water animals in their home? I wonder who was the first person that saw a shrimp and went "Yo, I'd keep this on my desk... Anyone has a jar to borrow?" and just went with it. What a legend. And snails. Fuck me. Look at those fuckers just sliding and chewing on the glass surface...
"You like the slimy things?" and the chewing continued.
Uncalled. "I'm just looking. Nature is weird..."
"If you want a planted tank, it's helpful to have a couple. They eat surface algae. Coupled with a bunch of Otto catfishes and maybe some shrimp, it will make your life easier when it comes to maintenance"
"You have to do maintenance on these? It's a handful of plants in a water box"
"Yeah, umm, you just look at the pictures, right?" chew, pop "It's not that simple."
"And you're trying to sell me stuff, I get it. How heavy are these things?"
"You're not buying them like off the shelf" pop, chew "I'll make you a list"
Tanks on shelves. Small, tall, long. Corner shaped. Cubes. "I like the cube thing. Smaller the size, less the maintenance, right?" all treble, no bass, low volume radio screamed in the corner "(Go west, this is what we're gonna do, go west)" is that Pet Shop fucking Boys? How fit. What a cliche.
"Yeah, you're figuring it out I see" sneaky corner-of-the-mouth smile, mindless chewing, casual popping.
She went on and on with filters, substrate, cycling, an hour later I was back at my place doing hardscape arrangements while she was looking for Pinterest zen arrangements.
Chewing. Random pops.
"I'll go back to the store to get some wildlife, don't touch anything." and she did.
Warm evening. Orange glow, the kind that makes your jeans stick to your legs. Chewing and popping. Water splashes and plants.
"I thought you said no fish for the first weeks, and here we are. You played me."
"Yeah, I kinda did." she had a certain charm. Should I read into that? "And now the pufferfish"
"A pufferfish. How fucked up is that animal..." it swam around gently, looking for something.
"We're all animals" and a perv-y look follows, wow. Is this a cheap porn clip? "See this snail over here?" it was a weird, ice cream cone shaped slime thing, with something sticking out like a trunk, burrowing itself slowly in the sand.
"Since when do snails have trunks?"
"It's a carnivore snail"
"A what now?"
"The tank needs equilibrium. The other snails eat the algae, but they will start to reproduce and eventually will start eating your plants. The Assassin snail eats other snails, keeping them in check"
"How fucked up is that, really..." and that fucking fish. Stingy blob. "What's the puffer for?"
"That's for.. other reasons..."
Doorbell.
"I'll be right back, must be the landlord. Rent." great. "In a moment, Jake!" good timing there, Jake. You couldn't wait until tomorrow with that rent, could you? Where the fuck did I put the money... is it ok if she sees this? We met an hour ago...
Doorbell.
"Yes, yes!"
Door lock is a bit screechy. Old. Rusty. Should mention this to him, again. Oh, yes, behind the books. Now I should change the hiding place, maybe.
"Before you answer the door, do you have a grinder?" big eyes fixed me. She kept chewing, God damn it.
"Bottom drawer. Be right back." Right, the door. Money. Jack. After a cute little struggle and rusty metal sounds, there was Jake.
"Oh you have visitors" he reeked. Sweaty motherfucker, almost gagged while handing him the money.
"Yeah, about the door lock, Jake..." door screech again, closing it behind me "How long until you can change it, please? one day I won't be able to open it. Might get stuck inside. Can I tear it down if that happens?"
"Listen, I told you I'd fix that, why don't you trust me on it?"
"Sure thing, listen, I'm a bit busy. By the next rent do something about it, I don't like reminding this"
The fucker slowly paced down the hallway, counting the cash. "Talk to you next month, kid!"
Motherfucker.
The door closed behind me again, the lock played its metal chime to notify me it was locked. Good. Nasty weed smell waved, hmm... This is gonna be fun.
"Done" and a slow exhale followed. "Join me" she said join me with the joint already lit.
"Yes, m'am"
[Lorn - Anvil playing in the background, on repeat. please, go ahead. i'll resume the story after you open a new browser tab with it.]
She explained the high of the pufferfish sting but who remembers the details. Another joint lit. The wavy light reflecting from the tank onto the pillows is calming as fuck. Nice combo with the weed. And the sex. I feel sleepy and I barely recognize the feeling. Floating feeling, warm. I could fuck the Universe right now. Pufferfish went zap, a floating blob. Floating, staring at me. Water waves, slowly reflecting the light. Pufferfish. Puffer. Fish. Puff.
Staring contest. Pufferfish staring contest. What a trip. Slowly floating, it's breathing reminds me of bubblegum. Like it's chewing bubblegum. Big bubble chewing bubblegum, woop. Float, weirdo, float.
"Hey, umm.. isn't the tank too close to the bed? What if I..."
Chew, pop. Jaws clenching. "Cab is here"
"We should move it, I..." hard to find word succession. Sentence. Sentences. Sent. Haha. Scentences. Scentlesss sentence... is this what news anchors do for practice? Along with chewing bubblegum, for jaw muscle practice. Hah.
The door closed with a sudden click. Was that real? Here fishy fishy. Tap. Tap. Tap.
I wonder if she has a boyfriend or not. Bad timing for the question, given the high, but I'll ride it out. Gently.
"Hmm smm sm-mm sm hamm!" Yelling from the other side of the wall. Or door. Can't understand, really... Could it be the boyfriend? Haha, ride it out, boy. But let's just in case ride on it a bit. What if. Probably going out on the fire escape, he'll see the window open, catch the hint, run back on the hallway and downstairs. I'll be one floor up, it's late already so probably a cold breeze to dissolve the numbness is welcome. I might go on the roof, actually. Yeah, it's a better place to run. Run. RUN!!
Glass shattered at the last floor window. Fucking shards, piercing like tens of papercuts on the shoulder, back, ass, FUCK ME!
"MOTHERFUCKER"
What the fuck was I thinking?! Run, boy!!! What the fuck was I thinking, fucking door, DOOR, yes, hallway
"I'LL GET YOUR ASS ON A PLATE, PETSHOPBOY!!"
Who was that, the boyfriend? Damn these boots are making too much sound screech scratch faster, damn it! Stairs. Skipping steps, yes, like kids, firm grasp on the railing, boy, fuck there's blood on my arm easy EASY not to slip and fast, please, fast, please, PLEASE! How is this fucking hallway so long? Are those footsteps I can't hear anything with this blood pumping in my ear, Christ!
End of the hallway. Just a doorless opening in the wall, used for disposing trash. Now what, idiot? "I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" Jump. Freefall.
Silence; or so it seems, at least. Wet, something's wet under my ass, what the fuck is wet under my ass, it's so dark uncontrollable puking fuck this FUCK okokok let's see FUCK what the fuck was that! Warm. Wet. Garbage juice, GOD. It hurts, ok, slow. There's the exit, okok.. Why am I so wet, I can't see shit, I hope I've pissed myself and it's not the juice. Blood. Could be, ok, I need some light. There, a few steps, okok, parking is on the other side of the door, the car YES the car, I see it. Keys, back pocket, good. Dim light fuck but I can see it's piss, and some blood. Nasty juice only on the shirt, get it off GET IT OFF man it hurts...
Doesn't matter where to, just drive. Keys, almost there, good, one step in front of the other, boy. Keys, here, good. The stench, damn, ok no one here. Keys, stop shivering. What was that, 2 floor fall? could have died there, fuck me. It's quiet here, let's just get in the car. Next carwash I'll stay on the car and we both take a shower, how nice. Fuck, it hurts.
Highway lights. Rhythmic. Speed. Pain. Shirt out the window, seatbelt back on. What the fuck happened, man. Really. It was supposed to be a quiet Saturday. I'm dizzy, maybe a stop to the hospital would help, fuck. Why am I dizzy? Cold. What's that cold feeling in the back of my he- *gun clicks*
"Hey, punk, talk to me about it" hesinthebackseatFUCKHOWTHEFUCK
"Listen, man, I had no idea, please" ohgodohgodohgod
"It won't hurt, just pull over and let's talk"
Pull Fucking Over, sure. If he shoots now we both.. seatbelt, there's no seatbelt in the back
Hard. Breaking. Screech. Something went over the shoulder, glass breaking, drift and spin. Lights. Quiet.
Doorbell.
The fuck?
Doorbell.
I can't move.
"Damn it kid, what's that fucking smell?"
"Sir, move over please, this is the police" the police? Doorbell. "Sir please open the door" hard knocking follows.
I can't move.
"I haven't seen him since last month" what. "I came over last week to collect the rent but he didn't respond so I thought he wasn't at home" what the fuck. "That song, it just plays on and on, maybe he forgot his PC on?" WHAT THE FUCK
I can't MOVE. I can see the ceiling but it's blurry. Left eye only?
"Sir if you do not respond we'll have to open the door by force"
Why can't I move? I can't feel anything... it's just... getting darker, there's something on my eye and it smells like rotten fish...
"Make room, please, we have to bring it down"
"Why does it smell like that? Is he dead?" dead? how can I be dead, you fucking moron.
"Paramedics are here, tear down the door" paramedics?
Bam. Bam. BAM. A sudden crash. "OH MY GOD" did he just puke? "What is that?" what is what? what the fuck is happening?!
"I think that was a fish tank, sir, holy fucking shit are those snails?"
"His torso is covered with them, let's just take them off what the actual fuck"
Wait, snails? SNAILS? Someone please what is happening!!
"He's not responding, sir, his eyes are gone, fuck, let's move fast" HOW THE FUCK ARE MY EYES GONE
"What is that DON'T TOUCH THAT"
"I can't get a pulse" oh god please oh god please "His face is almost gone, fuck me"
"Do not touch that, I think it's some kind of puffer fish on his neck, it's rotten god damn. It must have stung him when the tank broke. Look at his hand, he smashed the tank in his sleep or something, it's all cut up"
what... please...
"The snails... they are eating his flesh..."
"Sir, get out and you're puking all over the place, what the fuck"
"And somebody, please, stop that fucking music."
STOP WHAT MUSIC!?

This time of year craft stores explode like a red tide with all kinds of beachy themed stuff.
I work in a craft store but my budget is more thrift shop.
I’ve always swum underwater (blame it on Sea Hunt, Flipper, Jacques Cousteau and the Man From Atlantis), but only recently discovered that actual mermaiding is a thing. You get a monofin (Wally World even has them, the Linden by Body Glove, or Fin Fun has the entire thing, monofins and tailskins, high quality for a low price) and swim.
It’s important to actually know how to swim and be safe in the water. You also need to know a dolphin kick and be able to ditch the tail in an emergency (hopefully it floats, like the Fin Fun gear).
Meanwhile you can swim like a swordfish (fast) or elegantly like a koi. Then come back to some mermaid grotto in your house.
The Vancouver Mermaid http://www.vancouvermermaid.ca/ uses tiny white “fairy lights” (or Christmas lights) behind sheer curtains as a backdrop for some of her videos, nice accent for any room.
Sheers are easy to find at thrift shops stupid cheap. I used layers on my front door (white and turquoise) along with stencils (and a Dory/Nemo wreath on the other side). Outside of door is painted turquoise (with the Dory/Nemo wreath), the ocean turquoise sheer shows there. The random clownfish below has been replaced with an actual Nemo.
Dory and clownfish from thrift shop 99 cent bin, heart vine wreath
Stacked to old scuba tanks on one side along with some old dive hats and walking sticks.
The other door (into the kitchen) has sheers, a note warning to close door quickly due to crazy cats, a surfboard given to me by a cousin, painted black, and used as part of an ocean touch room at a local park (it’s the exact size and shape of an orca’s dorsal fin). Dive fins, wetsuit, dive mask, swim goggles and pool noodle complete the ensemble (and get used, it’s a useful place to store them). On the other side is a cool skimboard I found at a thrift shop for $3. Skim boards are thrown into the surf, some Spiderman-like kid leaps on them and “surfs” the swash zone, then generally faceplants on the beach. It’s decorative. The mermaid slippers (glittery mermaid scale) came from AC Moore. Mermaid oar found by friend (a falconer and wildlife rehabber). Turtle stencil part of a Folk Art sea theme package.
So far the hall just contains a guardian faerie (you can just see her wings at the top), a shadowbox dedicated to a long gone dog, some ship’s wheels made by Uncle Bob, and the art room door with “swordwhale” stuff. The sign is from Touch Room Ocean and was attached to the surfboard/fin and has orca facts. The sea horse plushie is male and contains a pouch with three babies, came from Cape Henlopen.
The bathroom is finally a mermaid grotto. Sea shower curtains are easy to find, the cats like to hide in the bathtub but are chased out because they also think my monofins are cat toys. I can hang mermaid gear to dry. Wall clings are my friend (a combo of Dory, Ariel and realistic fish made a nice reef around the edge of the wall). A small fake tree that the cats kept destroying was moved to the sink, wooden fish added along with the lights…
…years ago our dive club did underwater Christmas trees. On a New Year’s Eve dive (yes, in a wetsuit), I discovered a couple bluegills nesting in the tree.
Fish tree…
Merfolk guard the bathroom and cellar doors
where the heck do I stow the mermaid tails!
wall clings are my friend
a shower curtain on the inside covers some bath issues
outside shower curtain reef investigate by T’Challa
tiny reef tree on the sink
Life So Mermaid (or how to beach up your house on no budget) This time of year craft stores explode like a red tide with all kinds of beachy themed stuff.

The Perfect Divers’ Day at the Beach
Summer’s not over yet and there’s no better way to enjoy it than shore dives followed by beachy drinks and snacks while lazing with your toes in the sand. It’s time to gather your gear and your dive buddies and head out to the shore with our nine top picks for the perfect divers’ day at the beach.
Scuba gear dolly
Hauling dive gear can literally be a pain, but the Tank Dolly from Shark Bite Scuba easily ports your gear from the car to the beach. Made in the United States, you can get it with either all-terrain tires or sand tires. It will transport one or two tanks (or a set of doubles) along with your BCD, fins, weights, mask, booties, gloves, and more. Sturdy and compact, it also collapses for easy storage.
Ocean-friendly sunscreen
Slather on some sun protection, but make sure you aren’t hurting the waters in which you dive. Certain sunscreen ingredients last for a scarily long time in the ocean as toxins to coral and fish, but Stream2Sea’s founder (and fellow scuba diver) fashioned a list of sunscreen ingredients divers should avoid. Stream2Sea also offers an eco-friendly sunscreen with a neutral tint, sold in plastic-free tubes fashioned from sugarcane resins as well as bottles with 97 percent post-consumer recycled content. Sign up for our newsletter here and we’ll enter you in a raffle to win a day at the beach gift bag from Stream2Sea.

Portable shower
Salt and sand don’t feel nice on your skin nor are they good for your gear. This portable shower from RinseKit can rinse both you and your dive gear off without pumping or batteries. The basic model will hold two gallons of fresh water for a six-minute shower while the Lux model will hold three gallons for a nine-minute shower. Fill the RinseKit with hot water from a faucet and it will remain warm in its insulated container. Fill it with cold water from a spigot and you can heat up the water at any time with a car adapter. The RinseKit will keep pressurized for at least a month. And best of all, if you remove the pressure chamber, the Lux model doubles as an insulated cooler for food and drinks.
Octopus beach blanket
When you’re done diving, keep the sand on the beach by resting on this hand silk-screened blanket in gauzy cotton or wrap it around your body as a sarong. It’s also machine-washable for quick clean-up.
Fishtastic beach chair
Kick back and relax on a fun, yet durable, beach chair decorated with fish or fish with turtles. You can adjust both of these lightweight, rust-proof aluminum chairs into five different positions including a flat position perfect for a quick nap. The Rio classic chair includes a towel bar and a padded carry strap while the backpack chair has a built-in cooler pouch, a towel bar, and two adjustable, padded shoulder straps.
Beautiful big-animal koozie
Keep your favorite canned beverage cool with one of these watercolor can coolers (aka koozies) from BlackStrawberry. The oceanic can cooler features orcas, dolphins, sperm whales, sharks, and blue whales on a light teal background while the monogram version features steel blue-colored sharks and jellyfish on a white background. Customize the latter with a single initial in stencil typography and your name written in script bordered by a navy-blue rope circle.
A tropical beer with a sculpin sting
Cool off with the ideal beach beer, which Ballast Point calls a Pineapple Sculpin. They added sweet, juicy pineapple to their gold-medal winning Sculpin, an IPA with hints of mango, apricot, peach, and lemon. The fruity flavors are refreshing while the hop intensity packs a bit of a sting like the sculpin fish for which the beer is named. Ballast Point sells this beer in bottles as well as cans making this tropical IPA beach-friendly. 7% ABV.
Fruit salad served in a watermelon fish
Cutting or peeling fruit gets messy on the beach. Instead, serve up a delicious fruit salad in this watermelon fruit basket carved into a fish. It looks fancy, but the National Watermelon Promotional Board notes an easy trick with a melon baller that makes quick work of the decoration.
Cookies made just for divers
The sweetest of treats to end the day, these sugar cookies from Holly Fox Design will wow any scuba-loving crowd with their octopus, jellyfish, and bubble shapes. Choose a blue and aqua color palette, pink and purple, or your own unique color combo as this “color-loving, graphic-designing, sugar baker” will even match specific Pantone colors.

lols and good company
our days in australia were coming to an end and it was sad. today we had made plans to see Hope close to her home town of the Yarra Valley. It was maybe 1.5 hours out of Melbourne? I don’t know for sure. we got on public transit..successfully I might add. we got on at Flinder’s street station which is old or historic or famous or something. probably a combo of the three, but its definitely a main station. there were a couple routes we could take, we missed the first one by a few seconds so we had to run up and across the station to the other one. typical tourists... but again we made it. the bust itself was pretty empty so I put my feet on the seat diagonal from where i was sititng.. apparetly thats illegal or you can get a fine of some kind... OOPS.
the town we were meeting hope in was in the middle of god knows where... it was called Lilydale... after wandering around trying to find Hope and her fam we found them. it was pretty quick actually, but we went to her school. that was pretty neat-o, there were a bunch of cubicles and we were walking around being obnoxious. no one was there because it was the weekend. shortly after hope’s sister arrived and we met her and went off to Healsville which as a short drive away. Neither D or I realized that her fam was going to be there, but it was chill. We went to some fancy ass pub/restaurant.. we couldn’t get in right away and had to wait because there was some kind of wedding going on. The menu was waaay fancy, like I just got fish n’ chips because thats all I could understand. I also tried a lemon bitters which was cool, not the best but i’d drink it again. they had some kind of straw tipi set up so D and I took a picture.

after lunch we went to the Healsville Sanctuary. this was our fifth and final animal stop.. the Australian animals were cool and it was set up nicely. as per usual, D and I took selfies with the animals. they had the typical Australian ones so it was still cool. Cassowarys, echidnas n ‘ shit. this was the place where you could wade with a platypus for like $200.. too bad there was a 6 month waitlist... since we couldn’t do that we went to some platypus show.. we thought it would be better than it was. there was just one platypus in a tank swimming (awee!) and some lady giving ocean facts. we did come a few minutes late so many we missed something great but i’m doubtful. they also tried to promote using bubbles and birthdays instead of balloons because balloons kill turtles. to do this they tried setting off bubble machines but they didn’t work and it was awkward..

after the show was over we split up from Hope’s family and walked around a little bit before the bird show. that was better than the platypus show because the birds did stuff.. it was like a show at disneyland. they talked about birds, had the birds do tricks and talked about conservation. shortly after we left the sanctuary and headed to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie.

there was lot of types of chocolate (obviously!) and they had samples so, bonus! they were different types of chocolate chips, the dark ones were so yum. I should have bought some, but oh well. it was pretty busy and overwhelming though. we did end up getting some yummy macarons though. after the chocolate shoppe, we headed back to Lilydale where we said our goodbyes. ‘tis always sad, but i know I will see her again.
we headed back on the train and we were back at a decent hour. it wasn’t super late or anything so we met up with our ex-tour mate Georgia. we went to her new hostel, which was Nomads Melbourne. We stayed in a bunch of these on tour. we went for dinner at some asian restaurant? i don’t remember which kind, but i got wonton soup which was great. afterwards we ran across the street and got some Golden Gay Times and Kit Kat Bars.. Golden gay time was our last typical Aussie treat to try, and it was pretty good. Nothing spectacular, but i’d eat it again if I had the oppertunity. The kit kat bars were like 1/2 on flavour and half another. Mine was “Caramel Pretzel” two ways.. it was gross. I didn’t even end up eating it all.

the rest of our night was spent in our hotel room just reminiscing in tour memories and talking with Andy and Hari via whatsapp. it was a bloody fun time filled with tons of laughs and bad dancing. we poorly sung G’Day G’Day so many times. D tried to rap baby got back, but did not succeed. its funny because we weren’t that close to Georgia on tour, but we had a great time lying on the floor. after georgia left we ordered Uber eats (obviuously!) we got a small pizza and some cheese toast. it was super yummy.
