“No!”
Screaming, you rushed up. Breathe!
In, out. In, out. Blood raced.
In.
Out.
With a shuddering breath, you sighed. You became aware of a presence at your pillow. Glancing, you locked eyes with your second robin. Well, you called this bird a robin, but it was barely that.
The bird was covered in black feathers, with the exception being bright red that covered its head and a small part of its chest. It hardly resembled a robin anymore. This one, you referred to as Hood.
Hood gave a little chirp, hopping over to your lap. It settled down, providing a reassuring weight. You started petting it, just a little. Hood could always tell when you had this particular nightmare.
You didn't have nightmares often, but if you did, it was always the same one. It started simple, an unlucky mistake leading to the meeting of a soulmate (which was nightmarish enough). Your brain never really elaborated on the meeting, as if it couldn’t quite comprehend what it could be like. Instead, the horror appeared when you met your own soul animal.
It was impossible to meet your own soul form until you've met a soulmate, as the animal orbited those you were bound to. Many a novel has been dedicated to those discovering that their soul has taken some unfortunate form, and their journey of self-acceptance. One particular novel you were fond of had the protagonist learning to accept that their form was a snail.
But… in the nightmare, your form wasn't that of a snail. It wasn't the form of a snake, a grasshopper or even a turtle.
It was a robin.
A little, fluttering robin. In green. In yellow.
In red.
You always awoke after that.
You continued petting Hood. Pet pat, pet pat. It always let you have little leniencies like this, after your nightmares. You appreciated it.
For you, a robin was the worst form your soul could possibly have. You had tried previously to logic yourself out of this fear. What was so bad about being a robin? You had four of them already; they weren’t so bad, albeit annoying. You just couldn’t… stand the idea.
It reminded you of the blood on your hands. The sight never really left you. The bodies of soul animals didn't remain, they disappeared just as the soul did after death. The fact both comforted and reassured you. You didn't have to bury the body, but you also didn't have anything to mourn.
You had made a small grave anyway.
You cried. Just a little. Hood gave a small tweet of distress, raising itself up to you. You took the offer, picking the bird up and cuddling its face. Just a little.
You felt sick.
You two stayed like that a while, two souls sheltering from the world. You wondered if your soulmates ever did a similar thing with your soul form. It was times like this that had you considering reaching out. You brushed aside some feathers on Hood’s chest, revealing a faint, scarred Y.
Maybe not.
A scutter of wings could be heard from your kitchen. You groaned, lifting Hood off your lap as you slowly got up. Who was it this time?
Bleary eyes blinked, you slowly made your way over. You were joined by Hood, as it made itself a steady weight on your shoulder. Hood was always a little too heavy for you to carry about easily, but you decided to be kind by not complaining this time.
Staring into your kitchen, it took you a moment to understand the sight in front of you.
A robin darting about, as a bat watched from the top of your fridge. It was a typical image for your home, but why..
Why was the robin… purple? And, was that bat a little smaller than usual?
Oh, no.
Strength left your legs as you crumbled to the floor, just staring at the two with an empty gaze. Hood squawked in alarm, fluttering off your shoulder.
You had two new soulmates.
Goddamnit.
~ ~ ~ ~
Somehow, Spoiler and Orphan (you later figured out their identities, none of your soulbonds were subtle) weren't your first surprise bond. No, that dubious honor belonged to the fourth robin.
You had been a little exhausted after a long day being tormented by Wing’s affections. Occasionally Wing has rather clingy days, and it becomes impossible to leave the house. It had only gotten worse after the second robin’s demise. You endured.
As a result, you were sleeping in. That is, until the sounds of high pitched peeping noises stirred you from your slumber. You slowly awoke, your eyes meeting bright green.
“Aaagh!” You shrieked, jumping back and falling off the bed. “Owww.” Groaning, you slowly sat up, taking in the situation.
There was a baby bird. On your bed. “What…?” You muttered. The bird didn't have many feathers, but the ones that it did have were a mixture of black and green. It was this fact, alongside the bird being a robin, that made you register exactly what was going on.
“Ohh my god.” Your head was in your hands. That was how done you were. Most people stopped getting soulmates at one. Sometimes there were bonds of two, maybe even three. Having four bonds was already rather extraordinary (which is why you pretended all your robins were the same one), but now there was a fifth.
Well, at least the baby bird was cute. You reached out, extending a finger to pet it, when it snapped at you. With its beak and everything.
Betrayal.
Since when were baby birds aggressive? All your other soulmates were older than you so you never got to care for any of them. Now you finally have one, and it snaps at you.
Turning away from the bird, you mean to sulk a little, but get interrupted by the Bat fluttering right in front of you. You blink, and the next second it's perched right by your new soulmate. You stare, eagerly anticipating a conflict.
The baby bird stares at the Bat for a second, before making an adoring noise and resting under its wing.
What.
Suffice to say, your initial relationship with Robin didn't start off perfectly. It did seem to warm to you within a few weeks though, so you didn't feel too bad about it.
In all honesty, you were more concerned about what the existence of a fourth robin would mean for the third. Would it be a smooth transition? A simple bestowing of the title like it had been for the first and second robin?
Or would it be tainted with blood, another robin bleeding out in your palms. You shuddered.
You didn't want to find out.
~ ~ ~ ~
Adjusting to two new additions to your bond was a little strange. All your bonds so far had been birth ones, formed at the start of your existence (with the exception of Robin, which formed when Robin started his life). Spoiler and Orphan were delayed bonds, also known as fated bonds. They started later in life, generally after significant events, but they can just randomly pop up too.
Were you going to get a new bond every time Batman trained a new vigilante? Was being a vigilante a requirement? That has some odd implications for you, actually.
You didn't really want to become a ‘hero’.
Enough of that. A few days had passed since the emergence of your two new bonds, and you suspected that the rest of your soulmates had found the change to be about as surprising as you did.
You could tell, because for the first time in a literal month, you were alone! No bat watching from a corner, no bird fluttering around you. Just you, and complete, lovely, isolation.
Honestly, it was so quiet you were a little unnerved. You had gotten so used to the constant chirping and fluttering of wings.
As a result, you've left the house.
You enjoy a nice walk, taking in the sights you usually rush over. Settling into a coffee shop, you treat yourself to a cookie. It was fun just to enjoy the atmosphere for once, without the paranoia of having what occasionally felt like a literal flock of birds following you around.
You've almost finished your drink when a shadow falls over you. A lean man stands before you, clutching a coffee to himself as if it contained the secrets to life. You blink.
“Sorry, I was wondering if I could sit with you?” He gestured to the cafe, and you noticed all the other seats were occupied. Huh, you were so busy being infatuated with your current freedom that you didn't even notice.
“Ah, yeah that's fine.” You replied, giving a small smile.
He smiled back, settling down and pulling out a laptop. Your time passes in simple peace, him on his laptop, and you on your phone. A scuttering noise drew you away from your scrolling though, and you looked up to see a familiar scene.
A blue bird had landed on the man’s coffee, shaking it as if it was trying to knock it over. The laptop man was fighting back though, doing his best to preserve it.
“Ah.” You muttered, staring. They both turned to look at you, exactly at the same time. It was a little creepy.
“Apologies for disturbing you.” Coffee man said. The blue bird jumped off the coffee, turning to you.
“It's alright. Is that your soul animal?” You replied, watching the bird hop closer.
“Ah yeah, he is. My family can be annoying about my caffeine intake sometimes.” There was a pause. “He seems quite interested in you, though.” There was a question in that statement, and you had the inkling that this was leading up to something you wouldn't like.
“What type of animal is it? I can tell it's some type of bird but..” The bird had reached you now, hopping onto your raised hand.
“It's a raven…” The man continued on, starting a tangent about raven facts, but you were too distracted to listen. Instead, you were fixated on the bird that was nuzzling your hand in a very familiar manner.
A bird that wasn't a raven. A bird that recognised you.
A bird that was a robin.
Wing.
You felt like both laughing and crying. Here you are, celebrating finally getting some space from your soulmates, and you meet one? How ridiculous. This was a nightmare.
You need to leave, immediately.
You stood up, your chair making an awful screech as you did so. Coffee man looked a bit surprised, as you peeled Wing off you and handed it to him.
“Sorry about that.” You smiled. “I had some extra bird seed on me from feeding some birds today. Perhaps your soul animal could tell. I've got to be going though, maybe I'll see you some other time.” And with that, you start marching out the shop.
Maybe your behavior was suspicious, but you really couldn't afford to stick around. All it took was for one of your soul animals to appear on you and the game would be up. He’d instantly know that the soul animal would have appeared from your side of the connection. It would be over, the efforts of years upon years.
You couldn't let that happen.
“Wait!” A voice called out, the tapping of footsteps following. You swung back around, meeting the gaze of your soulmate. He extended a card to you.
“This is my number, perhaps we can text in the future. I know we didn't really talk, but I enjoyed your company.” He smiled. It would have been a nice scene if the sight didn't make your gut twist.
You took the card.
“Oh! And before I forget, my name’s Tim.”
You answered back, giving your name.
You prayed that he assumed the shakes of your body were due to the cold.

And that's the second chapter! Woohoo! Hope you all enjoyed it, since the third chapter is already half way done! I'm rather excited for it haha ^ ^

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
You were laying dazed on the cold metal floor. In too much pain to focus on anything else besides breathing. You heard a commotion, voices muffled through the thick glass. At least inside this tube they couldn’t touch you anymore. Your mind strayed to the turtles. You weren’t able to save them. You weren’t able to do anything. You just hope they can somehow get away safely. That April and Casey can somehow save them.
“I won’t ask again…. Where’s (y/n).” Leo growled. He grit his teeth as he lowered his stance, ready to strike.
Baxter Stockman was quickly typing commands into the program on his computer. Karai stepped in front of him and drew her katana.
“Out of your reach, Turtles.”
“Aaaaand, there!” Stockman hit one last key on this computer and a red light started to flash on the tank, bringing the turtle’s attention to the crumpled form inside the glass. At the same time a multitude of files and programs started closing on the screen one after another, Stockman’s signature digital self-destruct program. Baxter stepped away from his computer and lifted his arms up triumphantly.
The sound of rattling pipes overhead catches your attention.
“Ha! You’re too late, Turtles. For years, the Foot Clan has sought out the means to fight you mutants on equal footing. And now, we have our secret weapon! An endless supply of pure mutagen!!!”
You heard a loud beeping sound, then a click, and the squeak of metal.
A gush of icy water pours down on you from above. The sudden cold shocks you and marginally distracts you from the pain. You pull yourself to the edge of the glass away from the heavy stream of water coming down from above, slowly starting to fill the base. You take a shaky deep breath and bang a fist on the glass. No use. Dizzy and numb, you look outside the tank for someone, something, anything that might help you. That’s when you see them.
And with dawning horror, they see you.
“Guys….?” You press your wet hand up against the glass. They’re here! They’re safe!!!
“(Y/n)....? (Y/N)!!!!” Leo shouts and lunges towards the tank. He tries to rush up to the glass but Rocksteady blocks his path. There’s blood on your cheek, and even a good distance away he can tell you’re in bad shape.
“OUT OF OUR WAY!” Raph roared at Bebop and Rocksteady, crossing his sai in preparation for a fight.
“Uuuh hey guys? Why is (y/n) in a giant fish bowl…?” Mikey asked, nunchucks at the ready.
“They ain’t comin’ out anytime soon, short stack.” Bebop said with an evil grin.
“You turtles totally fell for our trap!” Rocksteady chuckled.
Donnie immediately noticed the computer hooked up to the tank’s controls. He tried to subtly sneak past Bebop to get to Stockman but Karai stepped forward and blocked his path.
Karai pointed her sword at Donnie. “The Foot will be unstoppable.”
“And I will FINALLY get the recognition I deserve, for single-handedly creating an entire race of superhumans that will rule over the city!!!”
“You’re crazy!! You don’t even know what kind of side effects that mutation will have on regular humans!” Donnie activated the electricity at the end of his bo staff, ready to fight Karai to get to Stockman.
“I do have to thank you turtles for activating their mutant gene. Without your help, none of this would be possible!” Stockman’s laugh echoed through the large room. He waltz over to the canister filling up with the distilled mutagen from your blood. “We originally got (y/n) by a…. foreseeable mistake. But to our surprise, they survived where others had failed. And yet- their results were incomplete. Their animal DNA wasn’t materializing no matter what we did to them. So we came back to New York, where the population could supply us with countless more test subjects.” Baxter said cheerfully, popping the lid off the canister. “But now that we have the results we wanted, we have no need of them! We can preserve (y/n)’s body in a special chemical compound that will put them into a permanent hibernation. No need to worry, their body will be harnessed for science!” Stockman’s laugh was deep and evil, and to everyone’s shock-
He dumped the canister of mutagen over his own head.
Karai lept back out of the trajectory of the splash. Baxter’s laugh increased in volume as he began to morph and change. His head and eyes grew large, his body shrank, little papery wings sprouted from his back, and he mutated into a giant mutant fly.
Bebop and Rocksteady were stunned by the transformation. “Eeeeewwww… he turned into a bug?” Bebop whined.
“Nasty!” Rocksteady shook his head. Neither of them were paying attention to the turtles so Raph and Donnie covered for Leo and Mikey to make a break for the tank you were in. By now it had filled enough that you were starting to float.
“We’re here babe! We’re gonna get you out!” Mikey reassured you.
You whimpered helplessly. You were having a hard time keeping your head above water, not really able to swim with a broken dislocated arm and broken ankle.
“Stay back!” Leo sliced at the glass, and Mikey hit it with his nunchucks as hard as he could, but their attacks barely left a scratch!
“Guys! We have incoming!” Donnie yelled as Stockman had started flying around the room, maniacally laughing as he swooped down and kicked the back of Mikey’s shell, almost knocking him over.
“Dude, gross!” Mikey protested. Stockman looked to be drooling some kind of acid substance from his mouth.
Bebop and Rocksteady had recovered and started to charge towards them. Leo and Mikey had to jump away from your tank to avoid getting trampled.
“Donnie, that glass is as hard as steel!!” Leo jumped up and kicked Rocksteady across his cheek, then retreated.
“What’re we gonna do? (Y/n)’s tank is already half full!” Raph shouted. He was using his sai to hold back Bebop’s tusks as he tried to charge them.
You were doing your best to calm your breathing enough that you could float, but every time your head ducked below water you panicked. Your body was exhausted and protested against your desperate movements, but you needed to survive long enough for the boys to break you out.
“Donnie! See if you can turn off the water!!! I’ve got Karai.” Leo ordered
“Mikey! It’s you and me!” Raph called over, clanging his sai together and shouted a war cry running up to strike Rocksteady.
“What?! What about the bug brained dude??!! Eep!” Mikey ducked as Stockman flew over his head. He looked down and realized he was kneeling at the feet of Bebop, who had taken the black taser out of his pocket.
“You wanna taste too, little man?”
When Bebop flicked on the taser, Mikey saw the small stains of fresh blood on the pointed tips that buzzed with electricity. He looked back over to you struggling in the tank and how heavily injured you looked.
He saw red.
Mikey had a rare moment of true anger as he jumped to his feet and knocked the taser out of Bebop’s hand with his nunchucks, and in a flurry of rapid hits he beat back the warthog. He finished him off with a powerful roundhouse kick to the head.
“THAT’S WHAT YOU GET FOR MESSING WITH MY BAE!” He shouted triumphantly.
Raph looked back to Mikey with wide eyes, proud of his little bro for letting loose. “Woah. Way to go Mikey!” He ducked a hit from Rocksteady and punched him hard under his chin. Knocking him out cold.
Leo was crossing swords with Karai. She was a skilled fighter. But he was much stronger than her. While he pushed her back with a heavy strike, she slipped on some of the mutagen that had spilled on the floor, allowing Leo to take advantage of the opening and disarmed her. He flicked her sword out of her hand and knocked her back. She glared daggers at him, quickly recovering. But seeing as Bebop and Rocksteady were knocked out, she opted for a tactical retreat.
“This is just the beginning.” She hissed and ran out of the lab door.
Stockman was buzzing around your tank, still laughing maniacally.
“You turtlezzzzz cannot defeat the mighty Dr Stockman!! I am invincible!! I am-“
Donnie turned on the taser at the end of his bo staff and vaulted it at the annoying human insect, striking him and electrocuting him, knocking him out of the air to fall on the floor with a gross splat.
“Good thing I always carry a bug zapper.” He deadpanned.
Donnie went back to trying to hack into Stockmans computer. He managed to get past the firewall with his hacking program, but he discovered that all of the interfaces connected to the tank control had been erased.
There was no way to stop the tank from filling up completely. Donnie would have to write a whole new interface from scratch to control the tank.
There was no time.
You were running out of air, trying desperately to keep your head above water as the tank was almost full to the top. You took in one last deep breath just as the water consumed the last of the space. You held your good hand over your mouth and nose hard, trying to hold in the air, and floated down towards the bottom of the tank.
No more air.
“(Y/N)!!!”
“ANGEL CAKES!!!” Donnie and Mikey yelled out in panic.
Your eyes snapped open, hearing their muffled voices outside the tank. You swam over to the glass and met eyes with Raphael. He had picked a spot and began punching at the glass over and over again with his sai in his fists.
The needled jabs just managed to scratch the surface.
You looked at him sadly through the glass. He was stressed, sweating and desperate to break through. Mikey had grabbed a chair and had chucked it at the glass from another spot but it just bounced off and broke on the floor.
Leo was standing behind Donnie with his hand on his shoulder, but his eyes didn’t leave your face.
Time was running out. You were choking on the stale air in your lungs. Head getting dizzy from lack of oxygen. You removed your hand from your mouth and pressed it up to the glass, some bubbles of air escaping your mouth. Your eyebrows knit together to concentrate on not breathing in the fluid in the tank. But you were suffocating and in pain.
It was hard.
You looked back up at Raph, and forced a smile on your face. You felt sad. You didn’t want them to see you like this. They felt so far away.
Darkness was consuming your vision. The last remaining bubbles of air escaped from your mouth and your eyes slipped closed.
“NO!!! NO-! (Y/N), STAY WITH US.” Raph pounded his fist hard against the glass.
“DAMN IT.” Donnie frustratingly slammed his fist down next to the keyboard, his head falling into his hands. None of the lines of command coding he was typing in were working.
Leo left Donnie’s side and strode up to the tank.
“Move.” Leo ordered as he came up behind Raph. He unsheathed his swords and began slicing at the glass again. It was barely making a scratch. But combined with the small dents Raph had been making, he was slowly chipping away at the surface.
“Leo! If you can manage to cut 1.2 centimeters deep, it should weaken the glass enough to shatter with enough force!” Donnie yelled from where he was still furiously typing into the stationed keyboard. His attempts to unlock the system all in vain.
Leo and Raph worked together to stab and slice at the weakest point in the glass until finally-
*crack*
A small fracture appeared in the glass.
“There!!” Donnie called out. Raph and Leo switched to charging at the glass and ramming it full force with their shoulders. Over and over as the cracks grew wider and wider.
Mikey came over, and with a hand on Leo’s shoulder, the leader stepped aside to let his little brother help. Mikey joined Raph and rammed the glass again with such force the crack split all the way across the glass. One more strike-
The glass shattered on impact.
The gush of water that burst through swept Mikey and Raph off their feet. The floor of the lab flooded, and your body washed up on the floor. Lifeless and unmoving.
“(Y/N)!!!!!!” The boys all yelled.
Leo reached you first, falling into a kneel at your side. He ripped out the two needles from your back and held you in his arms. Donnie rushed over and slid down into the other spot at your side, his goggles pulled into place as he quickly checked you over.
“They’re not breathing. Put them down flat, now.” Leo obeyed and laid you on your back. Donnie first pressed down on your diaphragm to check for water blocking your lungs, then began compressions.
The room was dead quiet all except for the sounds of Donnie’s whispered counting as he pressed down on your chest. He paused, opened your mouth, pinched your nose, and breathed into your lungs.
Mikey was nervously walking around you back and forth, and Raph watched you from a distance, a vacant expression as he watched your face for any sign of movement, pleading with himself for you to be okay.
After what felt like an eternity, you coughed. Leo quickly rolled you lay on your side. You spit up water, gasping for air. You felt like you were coughing up a lung full of ethanol.
Mikey cheered and Raph took a deep breath, covering his face with his hands. Donnie fell backwards onto his butt and pulled his goggles off his head, so incredibly relieved you were breathing. Leo rubbed your back comfortingly as you got your breathing back under control.
Once you got a suitable amount of oxygen back in your lungs, you whimpered. Your throat was burning and a pain in your stomach and chest made it hard to breathe.
Leo picked you up again, and held you close to his chest. Your eyes fluttered open and you winced at the bright light from the ceiling.
“Welcome back.” Leo said with a smile on his face.
“Leo…?” Your voice was quiet and scratchy. You looked around at Donnie, Mikey, and Raph that all came into view around you and Leo.
“Guys….?” You felt barely conscious. Head foggy and tired like you were still under water.
“We’re right here.” Donnie assured you, reaching down to pick up your good hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
All the fear and emotion of drowning and being captured suddenly crashed down on you all at once. You sniffed and big tears gathered in your eyes.
“I was… so scared… I thought I was going to lose you….!” You hiccuped and sobbed as Leo held your trembling form tightly against his chest.
“Shhhh, it’s okay. I’m here. We got you.” Leo soothed, rubbing his hand down your back. He buried his nose into your damp hair and held you tight.
“You had us worried there for a minute!” Donnie was smiling at you, soft and relieved. Mikey was standing behind him rubbing tears out of his eyes.
“Let’s get you home.” Raph said, kneeling down behind you.
“Wait. I need to splint their arm and their ankle first. Mikey, can you find me some-“
*crack*
“Will this work?”
Mikey had already broken off the thin legs of a chair across the room.
“Yeah that works fine.” He pulled out two rolls of gauze from one of the pockets on his belt, and took the offered sticks from Mikey, who knelt down by your feet.
“What’re we gonna do about him?” He asked, motioning over to Stockman’s twitching form across the room.
The brothers all sneered at the fly mutant with similar levels of disgust on their faces, finding him rather gross. You smiled.
“Just leave him there, we can worry about him another time.” Leo offered, adjusting you in his grip. You winced terribly when your arm was moved.
“….Is ...your arm dislocated?” Leo asked you, holding you upright in a sitting position, now thoroughly checking you over.
Donnie and Mikey were working together to splint your ankle, Mikey holding up your foot while Donnie wrapped the splint to it.
“Let me see that.” Raph placed his hands on your shoulder and you clenched your teeth and whined quietly at the sharp pain.
“Leo, hold them still for a minute.”
“Just hold onto me tightly, it’ll be over in a second.” Leo hugged you close, wrapping an arm around your good side.
Raph got hold of your tender arm, and with practiced ease, popped your shoulder back into place. You cried out loudly and buried your face in Leo’s shoulder, taking deep breaths.
Raph tried to rub the soreness out of your poor shoulder. “Good job, princess. Now let Donnie get a look at that break.”
You hesitantly detached yourself from Leo, your shaking red and swollen arm was carefully picked up by Donnie, who set the splint and carefully wrapped the bandages.
“I’ll be able to get a better look at it with the x-ray machine back at home. For now we just have to be really careful not to jostle them too much when carrying them back.”
“I got em.” Raph volunteered. Leo looked to Raph, wordlessly nodding his head for his brother to take you from his arms.
“Careful of their arm….”
“Got it.”
Without much effort, Raph scooped you up in his big arms. You winced as a sharp stabbing pain radiated through your stomach as you were held close to Raph’s chest.
Something was definitely wrong.
“I’m sorry, princess. It’s just until we get you home.” Raph apologized. Leo led everyone quickly out of the lab.
Once back out in the hallway you had entered from, you noticed with visible shock the literal sea of bodies that covered the floor. Foot ninja. They fought through all of them, just to get to you.
Everyone exited the lab, careful to stick to the shadows as the sun began to rise. As the turtles made their way for their home, your stomach burned worse and worse with a white hot pain that radiated through your body. The movement of the city passing you by made you become dizzy, and your head felt like it was spinning. You felt nauseous and incredibly tired.
“Hey Raph….?”
“Yeah princess?”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t save you guys…. You had to save me instead….” You weren’t making any sense. Raph could barely hear you as the wind whipped past his head. You just felt so tired.
“Hey, stay with me, princess. We’re almost there. It’s okay.” Raph didn’t know what the right thing to say was. But your eyes were starting to slide closed.
“Can we…. Can we watch Princess Bride again…. When we get home….?”
Raph smiled at that.
“Yeah. We’ll watch it as many times as you want, short stack.” He didn’t care if his brothers teased him for secretly liking the girly movie. He didn’t care if he had to watch it with you a hundred times. He just wanted you to get better.
“We’re almost there. How you holding up?”
Silence.
“(Y/n)…?”
“Mmh?”
Your eyes were closed.
“Come on, wake up, we’re almost there.”
He was desperate.
“Mm…hm…”
You hummed, but your eyelids felt too heavy to lift. You felt yourself sinking into a dark liquid abyss. You could no longer fight the pull.
“(Y/n)….. (y/n)? Hey…! Hey, no no no no no, you gotta stay awake. Come on princess…! (Y/N)!!!”
You felt Raph try to shake you awake, felt his muscles tense as he pushed himself to go faster.
“We’re almost there, hold on…!”
“Hold on….”
Darkness overtook you.

The scene in season 3 episode 9 paralleling rafe and Sofia’s storyline in season 4??
~ Sofia looks out for herself by going to Hollis and agreeing to help her, after she realises Rafe doesn’t have her back. Her words here directly reflect her actions in season 4, Sofia only resorting to that deal when she felt threatened.
Tumblr media
~ the roles are flipped from s3 and s4. Where rafe was the one debating what to do in s3, in s4 it was Sofia who was faced with a similar dilemma (of course not the exact same because rafe being rafe was debating on whether or not to kill his dad😭). But the principle was still the same– should they betray someone they love to make up for that person hurting them?
Tumblr media
~ Sofia clearly doesn’t follow her own advice. Her guilt was instant, even when she did the act of “nudging him to accept the deal” you could she was regretful. Her whole arc in part 2 was trying to right her wrong, before Rafe said she didn’t need to worry when he got down on one knee. You could see the wash of relief in the proposal scene. And then the return of the regret, seen in her reaction to him telling her to “pack her shit away” …it was like she thought she deserved it, realising her actions had come back to bite her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
~ Sofia clearly has a strong sense of right and wrong, seen in her aversion to her dad’s request to help Hollis, her dismay in the turtle scene and her own regret at doing the “wrong” thing and “betraying” her boyfriend.
I think it’s sad that people write off her character as being boring or badly written. I do agree though her storyline was rushed, but her character is consistent and lucid (as much as a side character in outer banks can be). She’s sweet, kind and good, a direct opposition to Rafe’s persona. And those characteristics don’t mean she’s weak/badly written, it just means she’s different, and that’s not a bad thing.
And i like that she doesn’t mirror Rafe’s boldness and extroversion– it’s nice to see him interact with someone softer. Sometimes it makes him become softer, and other times it intensifies his harshness, both “humanising and villainising him” (as the creators put it).
I think if he was with someone like kiara, or someone who paralleled his intensity and fervour, it would give him less nuance. Sofia balanced him out, she shows him there’s another option. It provides a moral choice for him– to dwell on his anger and resentment, or become forgiving and hopeful.
And Rafe provides a dilemma for Sofia too– between her identity as a pogue and her love for Rafe seemingly contradicting that identity. (Very much John B and Sarah season 1 coded)

Final words: idk sorry for the ramble and over analysis!! @beautyinsteadofashes mentioned the comparison of this scene with season 4 and it got me thinking!!
Finished my assignment and got straight back to analysis and character study😭

Ink and Destiny - Part 4
Maybe keeping a secret relationship with James is not as perfect as you think. Or, a whole lot of nothing, I need ideas plz.
A/N: Sorry for the wait, I hope everyone had a great Christmas! If you don't celebrate it then I hope you had a good day! Sorry this part is really bad, I need ideas, PLEASE give me ideas in the suggestion box please ily.
Part One Part Two Part Three
Tumblr media
“Did you hear that James Potter is dating someone?”
“Do you think it’s Lily? He’s been crushing on her for years” “Of course it’s Lily. They’re going to have the cutest babies.”
You focus on the schoolwork before you, trying to block out the people next to you. You know James and you agreed to keep this dating thing private but you can’t help but feel sad, and jealous when people think he’s dating Lily.
You know James likes you, he’s made it clear. And you know that Lily doesn’t like James if the way she always rolled her eyes when he was around was any indication.
You’ve told Lily and Alice everything between you and James, as James has Sirius and Remus. Alice already knew since James asked her what your favourite book was, and Lily was shocked, disgusted and happy for you all in the span of five minutes.
The teacher dismisses the class and you rush out, bumping into Lily on your way to the girl's dormitory.
“You’ll come with me to the Quidditch game, right?” You ask nervously. You’re still nervous around James and Lily coming with you would help you calm down a lot.
She nods, hooking her arm with yours, “Yeah. Do you want to start getting ready? I’ll paint your nails.”
“Can you paint them red? I don’t know what I’m wearing yet, please help me.” you plead, sighing in relief when you reach the Gryffindor common room.
Scanning the room, your eyes land on James sitting on the couches in front of the fireplace, talking to James and Sirius.
Lily teasingly nudges me and you glare. “Stop it-” You stop at the sound of your name being called out and turn to face the speaker.
“Do you want to sit with us?” Sirius Black asks you from his seat, eyes swirling with mischief.
“Excuse me?” You squeak. From the corner of my eye, you see James smash his face against the couch pillow.
“The Quidditch game. Do you want to sit with Remus and me?” James lifts his head from the pillow, cheeks flushed as he mouths a silent ‘sorry.’
You nod, “Okay. As long as Lily can sit with us.”
It’s Remus who speaks, “Of course. We’ll meet here in an hour.”
You nod your head awkwardly, flashing them smiles then drag Lily up the stairs.
“I’m not ready to hang out with Remus and Sirius, what if they don’t like me? James values their opinion and if they don’t like me then who knows what will happen-” Lily cuts you off with her hands on your shoulders. “Calm down, it’ll be okay. You’ve worked with Remus before in Potions, remember? He liked you, and Sirius will like you too. Now cmon, let’s get ready.”
She leads you to a table in the corner, pulling out a deep red nail polish. You take turns painting each other's nails, Lily choosing to go for a dark green.
“What do I wear?” You ask, throwing everything out of your trunk in search of something cute. She joins you on the floor, rummaging through your trunk before holding a black skirt up.
“This is cute!”
“It’s almost winter.” “So? You’ll wear tights.”
It's pleated and lands mid-thigh. Hesitantly, you agree and you continue the hunt for a top. You chose to pair it with a maroon turtle neck sweater so you don’t freeze to death.
“Are you wearing cute underwear?” Lily asks as you get dressed.
“What? We’re not having sex!”
“Are you sure?” You send her a look. “Okay, but wearing cute underwear makes you more confident.” “Go away.” You can’t resist your smile as Lily laughs. You quickly do your makeup and hair, putting on simple black boots.
“Is this too much for a Quidditch game?” You ask self-consciously. Lily scoffs from behind you, “No. You look hot.”
“Okay, let’s go.”
Remus and Sirius are sitting in the same place as before, cheeky grins on their faces as they spot you.
“You ladies look amazing,” Sirius purrs, “You ready? I know James is excited to see you.” He winks, causing your cheeks to flush.
Ignoring Sirius and Lily’s laughter, you make your way to the field, Remus falling into step next to you.
“Don’t stress about getting him to like you. He already does. We all do.” At your confused face, he continues, “James has been so much happier since he found out you were his soulmate. And we like whoever makes him happy. So as long as you don't break his heart, we like you.”
“I’d never break his heart.”
“Good.”
“Potter! Potter! Potter!” The common room is deafeningly loud with almost everyone from Gryfindoor celebrating.
Gryffindor won, obviously, and the celebrations have been going on for an hour already. Besides a quick congratulations on winning the game, you haven't seen James since.
You and Lily were sitting alone in the corner before she got dragged away with a boy from her Defence Against the Dark Arts class, so now you’re sitting alone, nursing a glass of water as you try not to look too miserable. Parties have never been your thing, and even though you can’t exactly speak to James, you’d celebrate with him in spirit.
Perking up, you spot Sirius coming towards you with flushed cheeks, forehead lined with sweat. “Darling! James asked you to meet him in the boy's dormitory. It’s nice and empty for ya.” He slurs, stumbling over his feet.
Your cheeks flush red and you hurriedly thank Sirius before pushing your way through the crowd, breathing a sigh of relief when you make it into the dormitory.
It’s empty and you stand awkwardly in the middle, turning in a circle as you take in all the bits and bobs around the place.
There’s only one bed made, most likely Remus’s, and clothes are strewn across the floor.
“I’m sorry, I told the boys to clean up in here.” You almost jump out of your skin at the sound of James’s voice. Turning around, you take in his sweaty hair and flushed cheeks.
“It’s okay.” You mutter quietly, watching as he comes closer.
He goes to hug you but stops. “Sorry, let me have a shower.” He points to a messy bed, “Take a seat, I’ll be quick.”
The door shuts behind him and you do as he instructed, tidying his bed up a bit, first. Ten minutes later he comes barreling in, cheeks flushed from the hot shower.
He sits down next to you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders as he places a gentle kiss on your forehead.
“I feel like I haven't hugged you in ages. How are you, Love?”
“I’m okay. How are you?”
“I’m amazing.”
He kisses you, it’s soft and gentle but you can’t get those nagging thoughts out of your head.
James notices, of course, he does. “You seem tense, you sure you’re okay?”
You tense even more and he pulls away slightly, brows furrowed in concern.
“Are you okay?” He asks again.
“I- We’re not going to have sex, right?” You blurt, wincing immediately.
He pulls away completely. “No. I just missed you, haven't seen you much tonight so I thought we could have some quiet time together, I know you don’t like parties. I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable, that wasn't my intention. I just missed you.”
Your cheeks flush and you shove them into your hands. “No, I’m sorry, I’m so stupid.”
He gently prys your hands apart, “Hey, no. I would’ve thought the same thing, too. But we’re not having sex until I become your boyfriend and we talk about what we’re comfortable with, okay?” “You want to be my boyfriend?” You ask shyly, a small smile forming on your lips.
“Of course, You’re incredible. Why wouldn’t I want to be?”
You hesitate, “I have a lot of insecurities, James, and I don’t want to burden you with them.”
He scoffs, “You could never burden me.” He lays down beside you, reaching out so you’re forced to rest your chin on his chest, legs tangled with yours.
You scoff, earning a stern glare from James.
You change topics, “So when are you going to be my boyfriend?” You question teasingly.
He sighs playfully, “Well, I was going to ask you on our next date.”
Your eyebrows raise, “Our next date?” He nods. “I’ll bring your favourite food if you promise to ask me to be your girlfriend, okay? "He smiles, “It’s a deal.” Returning his smile, you lean in for a kiss, relishing in his warmth. Neither of you notices the time go by, too captivated by each other.

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?
Thinking strictly of the 03 series, I might say the shift from season 4 to season 5.
I really wanted to see more of Leo's new and more enlightened attitude, more of Donnie recovering from the whole Good Genes arc, more of Raph growing as a person and becoming a leader in his own right, more of Mike maturing but still being the fun guy who embraces the arts...
Unfortunately, the Ninja Tribunal season just sort of pushed that growth to the side, and we didn't get to have any downtime to digest everything the Turtles had just been through (and, more importantly, neither did they). Though it had its good parts (Karai's character arc for one), the season seemed altogether too rushed and crowded. It would have benefited from some slower-paced bottle episodes, perhaps bringing back characters that we hadn't seen in a long time.
In terms of fanfic, when chasing plot bunnies for 03, I tend to imagine the stories taking place at the end of season 4, and there being a canon divergence from there on out. It simplifies things for me to ignore the entirety of seasons 5-7 (which all did have good points, but which don't strictly fit my image of the series as a whole!).
Thank you for the ask!

Broken Brothers (and How to Fix Them)
Part 4 ❤️ | Part 1 <- 🧡 | Part 2 <- 💙| Part 3 <- 💜
Note: This story is based on @cupcakeslushie 's Empyrean Weeping au. These characters are not my own, and this story is in no way canon to the main story. I wrote this as my love letter to the story and the characters. Especially April :)
Tags: Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ROTTMNT, Raph & April, April & the Turtles, Splinter's there too, NOT MY CHARACTERS, Empyrean Weeping AU, guilt, talking it out because we're adults, basketball(???), turtle pile(!!!)
Warnings (if there's anything I should add here, tell me please!): yelling, small physical injury
Words: 3,015 (i may be insane🤪)
Summary: April was able to figure out her first brother easily. Now, she gets three more, with a couple more issues to worry about.
----------------------
When Splinter told her where Raph was, April couldn't help but want to go home. To leave. To act like she didn't know.
But that isn't what big sisters do.
So, instead, like the brave pre-teen she was, she went to the dojo. She went to the shrine, where Raph was already kneeling. She paid her respects (for as long as a hyperactive kid could) to those kids she had never met.
“Do you think I would have been a good big brother?” Raph asked, staring at the family photo in front of him. One of the only remnants he and his father had of his little brothers.
“You are a good big brother,” April responded without hesitation. “You're still looking for them, aren't you?”
“...well, yeah…”
“Then you're being the best big brother that you can be!”
Raph rubbed his knuckles. “But, what if, when we find them, I don't know how to be a big brother? Maybe I won't want to be a big brother then…”
“You can just follow my lead!” April said, puffing out her chest. “I'm already the best big sister, aren't I?”
“Course you are!” Raph said. “But I can't do everything you can do, y’know?”
“Like what?” April asked suspiciously.
“Like…” Raph pondered. “Like putting your hair up! Raph ain't got no hair.”
“Hmm…” April rubbed her chin in thought. “True. But you don't need to do your big brother-ing exactly like I do my big sister-ing. You do Raph! Besides, who cares about hair when you do have the cutest, coolest, most spikiest shell ever in the whole world!”
The girl hopped on Raph's back, climbing on his spikes and tickling under his armpits in just the right spots, leaving both of them laughing blobs on the floor.
Raph was going to be the best big brother ever. April just knew it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“DONNIE! GET DOWN FROM THERE!”
“NOW I WILL BE THE BALL!”
“NO!”
“I MEANT B-BALL DON, NOT- JUST LISTEN TO RAPH!”
Mikey’s hand wandered over to April’s fries, trying to snag one without looking away from the action in front of him. April decided to help him and angled the box so he could grab one.
Donnie had somehow managed to get himself on top of the basketball hoop, with one foot hooked over the backboard, one entangled in the net, and both of his hands wrapped around the hoop itself. Both Raph and Leo were beneath him with their hands up, ready to catch him when he inevitably fell. It was amazing he hadn’t already, honestly.
“April, tell him to get down!” Raph begged, shooting the bystanders in the stands a sideways glance.
“He doesn’t listen to me,” she responded helpfully. “He’s your little brother.”
“At this point, I don’t think he knows how to get down,” Mikey added from his spot on the bleachers. “You might have to cut his foot loose.”
“What do you mean?” Donnie asked, scoffing. “I can get myself down from this contraption just fine!”
Mikey smirked, squinting his eyes. “Prove it.”
Donnie unhooked his leg from the backboard behind him and tried to jump forward, only to discover that he had, in fact, tangled his foot a little worse than expected. He yelped when all of his body weight was suddenly put onto the small space of his ankle as his body inverted. Raph and Leo rushed up to help him down, but found that they could only push him up to lessen the pressure from him dangling.
Raph’s eyes were blown wide. “What do we- MIKEY! DO SOMETHING!”
April and Mikey both came up quickly, and Mikey clambered up Raph’s shell. He pulled a small pocket knife from his hoodie and started sawing at the net while Donnie winced and flailed. Eventually, they got him down, and April could feel the collective relief across the brothers.
Today was supposed to be an easy day. Go out to the surface, pick up some fast food, and show the boys how to properly play basketball. For the most part, it was an easy day. But of course, it couldn’t stay easy. Stupid turtle luck and all. So when Leo just happened to say the wrong thing for Donnie to misconstrue, it all fell apart.
“What were you thinking?!” Raph shouted, looking at Donnie on the ground who was massaging his irritated ankle. “You could have gotten seriously hurt! You did get seriously hurt! I warned you!”
“Chill out, Raph.” Leo tried to place himself between the two. “It's not that serious. No need to get your mask in a twist-”
“Not that serious?” Raph got up in Leo’s face. “You’re telling me it’s not that serious?! You were just as worried as I was!”
Leo pushed Raph’s plastron lightly. “Yeah, when he was dangling from a basketball net. Now he’s on the floor, and it’s fine.”
“We’re all good, bro!” Mikey sat down next to Donnie, looking at the injury himself. “Yeesh, that is not pretty, though…”
April was starting to feel like she wasn’t supposed to be here for this conversation.
“All good?!” Raph stomped on the ground, leaving a small crack on the court. “If we hadn't caught him, he could have broken his leg, or smashed his skull open! If we weren’t here, he could have just sat here, waiting for some human to find him! What happens then?!”
April tried to step forward. “Raph, you need to calm down.”
Donnie looked up with pitiful eyes. “I'm sorry, Raph, I didn't-”
“WHY DON'T YOU GUYS EVER LISTEN TO ME?!”
Raph threw his hands up, only to freeze when he looked down.
Mikey had his hand firmly in his hoodie pocket, ready to take out his pocket knife again. Leo had readied himself into a defensive position, one he had practiced many times in the dojo. Donnie held his arms braced in front of his face, neck turned away, ready for impact.
Donnie's eyes were clenched shut, but Mikey and Leo kept theirs trained on the threat.
The threat.
The threat.
Raph's breath got shaky, and he stepped back slowly. His eyes kept darting across the brothers beneath him. He picked up his pace and hurried out of the basketball court, walking with purpose down the sidewalk under the New York moonlight.
April walked up next to the boys on the ground. Leo looked at her, with despair and guilt in his eyes. “April, we didn't…”
“I'll find him,” she promised. “You boys just stay here, alright? If anybody walks by, put your hoods up. Sound good?”
The brothers nodded solemnly, and April hurried to catch up with the eldest.
The New York streets were, thankfully, empty due to how late it was. The only lights showing now were the light of the moon, the stars, and the streetlights. The air felt thick, but April couldn’t tell if that was because it was humid or because of the nervousness she felt. April was able to see the large form of the snapper quickly moving down the sidewalk. She jogged to catch up, only for Raph to turn and start scaling a nearby apartment building.
The turtle got up to the roof quickly because of course he did, he's been training as a ninja his whole life. April sighed and strained her neck up to where he had vanished. “You know I'm not good at this stuff, right?!” She called up, not expecting a response. Sighing in defeat, she moved toward the fire escape.
She scaled up, having to toss herself up when she reached the top level, and hefted up onto the roof. After recollecting her breath, she looked up to see Raph curled in a ball in the far corner of the rooftop. His arms were wrapped around his legs, knees held close to his chest. He had his beak stuffed down, hiding his face, with the hood of his hoodie haphazardly covering his neck and the back of his head.
April settled down silently next to him.
His breaths were deep, but they had a relatively normal pace. April wasn't worried about that. She was beginning to worry about how deeply he was shoving his face down. She rested a hand on his arm softly, ready to pull away if she needed.
“...did you see their faces?”
April almost missed the whisper. “Raph?”
“Their faces, April,” Raph sighed, lifting his face to reveal his reddened eyes. “There was so much fear in their faces. They… they were scared, April. They were scared of me.”
He choked back a sob. “They were scared of me, April! They thought I was gonna hurt them! Little brothers don't get scared of big brothers! Big brothers are supposed to keep their little brothers safe!”
He placed his chin on his knees, looking blankly into the air. “Raph ain't no big brother. I just… ain't built for it. They deserve more than what they got.”
April put a hand on the side of Raph's face, making sure he was looking at her. “Do you want a hug, big man?”
Without hesitation, Raph wrapped his bulky arms around April's much smaller body. April knew he was holding back, but the squeeze around her core was still strong. She didn't mind.
Over her shoulder, she heard the whimpering voice of her little brother say, “...why can't I do this?”
April rubbed the turtle's spiky shell through the hoodie he was wearing. The spikes were threatening to poke through the fabric. “You're still learning how to be a big brother. Just like they're learning how to be little brothers.”
“If I had done something, maybe they… m-maybe they wouldn't have gotten hurt. I-if I'd stepped up as a big brother, maybe none of this…”
Raph's breath hitched as his tears started to fall.
“...you're not talking about the hoop anymore… are you?”
Raph squeezed her tighter, rubbing his face on her shoulder.
“None of that was your fault, Raphael. You were a kid.”
“I was supposed to protect them, April!”
“Maybe you were. Maybe that's what you should have done, and you didn't. But you can't change that now.”
Raph leaned back, and April wiped a tear from his face. Only one; she didn't dare wipe them all. He needed this.
“You can't beat yourself up because of things you didn't do. That's not what big brothers do.” April lifted his chin, just a bit. “What big brothers do is help get through the aftermath. You have to be there for your little brothers when they need you. And sometimes, they have to learn things the hard way. It's your job to make sure they truly learn, and heal.”
Raph leaned into April's palm. “I don't know if I'm all cut out for being a big brother anymore, Apes.”
April huffed through her nose. “Well, that's too bad.”
“What?”
“You don't get a choice no more, Raphie. You wanted to be their big brother. Now they need their big brother. So either you leave your baby brothers without a big brother to take care of them, or you tough it out and make them feel loved.” April lightly punched Raph's shoulder. “I didn't put all this effort in for nothing, either. I'm trying to be a big sister too. And with brothers like yours, it ain't easy.”
“Mikey's easy,” Raph laughed.
“Sometimes, maybe, but other times, he's a perfectionist and a doormat! And Leo's always got a stick up his butt, and don't even get me started on Donnie!”
“Hey!” Raph shoved April's shoulder back. “Don't be talking about my little brothers that way.”
“And there's that big brother.” April smiled, patting his arm. “It's like you don't even have to try.”
“Well,” Raph said, grabbing April's hand to hold, “I learned from the best.”
April's chest puffed proudly, and she pulled Raph in for one more hug.
The sweet moment was interrupted by April's ringtone coming from her back pocket. She pulled her phone out and answered Mikey's call.
“Hello?”
“Hey April! Did you find Raph?”
April looked at Raph in front of her, then back at her phone. “Yeah, I found him.”
“Sweet! Well, uh, we were going to just head back to the lair, and you guys can meet us there? I think there's a Lou Jitsu movie, a bowl of ice cream, and a turtle pile with Raph's name on it. If he wants it, of course! And I think I can convince Pops to get in on it too…”
Raph met April's eyes, then inched closer to speak into the phone himself.
“I'll hold you to that, big man.”
Mikey immediately cheered up on the other end of the phone at the sound of his big brother's voice, and April handed Raph the phone so they could talk. She sat back and watched Raph apologize to Mikey, all while smiling and promising the biggest hugs he could possibly give.
He had grown so much. Physically, that was obvious. But ever since his little brothers came back into his life, April had seen Raph grow as a person. He was better for it. He was stronger for it. Because now, he had something to protect.
Raph was going to be the best big brother ever. April just knew it.
----------------------
Apologies were given, ice cream was eaten, and Lou Jitsu movies were watched. The four brothers were left sleeping in a pile of limbs and bean bags, and it was the happiest sight April had seen in months. Raph at the base, with his arms wrapped around Donnie and Leo at his sides, and Mikey tucked into a ball on Raph's plastron. Each of them, just a picture of bliss.
Splinter had gotten up to make tea, which he had done quite easily with his ninja dexterity. April, on the other hand, had struggled for a full 3 minutes to get out from her wedge between Leo and Raph without waking them. It was worth it, anyhow. Even if just to see the brothers like this. (And to talk with Splinter, but the boys being cute took priority.)
The rat filled his absurdly skull shaped kettle with water and began boiling it. He turned around to see April and smiled. “Would you like a cup?” he asked softly.
“Sure!” April affirmed. “I'd love that.”
The tea brewed, and the two enjoyed each other's company in silence. April had never felt quite as close to an adult other than her parents as she did with Splinter. And sure, he was a giant rat man who often did strange things like singing to get his back popped into place and bragging about how hot he was in his past, but he was one of the kindest people April knew. Human or not. And coolest, of course. He was a ninja warrior, what did you expect?
Once their cups were filled, they returned to the living room. April sat on Splinter's couch, while Splinter himself stood to the side. Both looked at the slumbering turtles as they sipped their tea.
“Thank you.”
April looked down at Splinter, whose eyes were filled with pride. “Me? Why?”
“They would have never been like this without your help. Usagi's and Cassandra's as well, but especially yours. It is because of you that they can be so peaceful like this.”
“A rare sight,” April snickered.
“Yes,” Splinter agreed wistfully. “When you have four teenage boys, you learn to appreciate moments like this.”
April looked fondly at the rat, then at the boys, with a strange fullness in her chest. A familial feeling. One growing stronger by the day.
“You have done more than help them,” Splinter continued. “You have encouraged me to come into my role as their father. You have reminded me, time and time again, that I am their father, and I must act as such.”
“‘Reminded’?” April teased. “You don't need reminding. You're, like, the best dad ever. No offense to my actual dad.”
Splinter laughed, a smaller version of that hearty, old man laugh he had. Quiet enough not to disturb his sons.
“I'm serious! You should get some sorta reward for this. Maybe a plaque- ‘World's Best Father Who Got Turned into a Giant Rat and Accidentally Got Four Impromptu Turtle Sons’.”
“Oh, April.” Splinter placed his small hand on April's arm, looking over at his sons with shining eyes. “I have my reward.”
April fought laughter at the cheesy remark, but she kept silent. The rat put his empty cup down and climbed back into the turtle pile, carefully nestling back into the perfectly sized space between Raph's plastron and Mikey's. Even in his sleep, Mikey's arm instinctively curled around his father.
April suddenly felt a wave of fulfillment in her core. A feeling that told her she had done something right. That she had truly made a positive impact on something.
And maybe that something was a family of mutants. Four boys forced to grow up too soon and a father with haunting memories in his mind.
They weren't perfect. They never would be. Not with the hand they got. But, even so, they were trying. They were improving. That was all April could ask of them.
Some things would never be fixed. In certain ways, her brothers would always be broken.
They just needed someone to help carry them when they shattered.
April finished her tea, placed her cup next to Splinter’s, then stepped as quietly as she could to return to her place in the pile. Donnie scrunched up and rubbed his face at the disturbance, but fortunately didn't wake. When he calmed back down, he placed his cheek on the crest of Mikey's shell contentedly, drooling just a bit.
As April settled back in, Leo rubbed his face in her hair. Raph churred softly at the feeling of pressure returning to his chest. All of the mutants let out a calm breath as their bundle became complete once more.
She was always happy to pick up the broken pieces, especially if they brought her warmth like this.
○●○●○●○
Behold, the finale. 8,776 words total. I had to rewrite some parts of this a couple times to get it right. Originally, I was just going to end it with Raph agreeing to go home, but that didn't feel like a proper way to wrap up this whole story. And with the lack of Splinter throughout, I figured that last scene would be the perfect way to wrap it up. 🐀
Shout out to @cupcakeslushie again. The EW comic was actually the thing that finally made me get a tumblr account instead of watching from the sidelines. Now I get to enjoy one of the coolest communities ever, thanks to that. Thank you, slushie <3
✨The Sherlock Holmes Museum✨
221b Baker Street, London
!!! this is part 2 !!! (link to part 1, part 3)
continuation of Holmes' bedroom
above Holmes' bed hang these pictures (1). the guide didn't tell us anything specific about those.
Tumblr media
opposite of the bed hang portraits of people (2&3). you might think they'd be from family members or friends. this is not the case with our lovely Mr. Holmes'. These portraits picture (serial? can't quite recall) murderers. They hang on Holmes' wall, because he wants to fully understand them, know how their minds work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
funfact about the woman in (4) (the guide just said "that woman over there" - there are two pictures of women tho... i assume she meant the woman that hangs higher... because her photo is bigger but i am not sure): she killed part of her family. but nobody believed a woman could do such a cruelsome act, so she was never arrested... and lived with the other part of her family until she died. (victorian sexism is almost funny ngl)
Tumblr media
oh and my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE PART was that SHERLOCK FREAKING HOLMES owns a TURTLE STATUE (5) and it CHILLS THERE IN HIS BEDROOM. (guys it's me. i don't know if you realize but trust me... sherlock holmes has a pet turtle/tortoise and it is me. )
Tumblr media
now to Mrs. Hudson's room (6)
(please forgive me for the people in this picture. i felt kinda rushed and way too excited to take a better picture...)
after the living room and Holmes' bedroom (see part 1), the tour ended. imo this room is the most like a museum. it doesn't feel personal like the living room or the bedrooms (yes Dr. Watson's room will be included in the part 3), instead there were show cases and some decorations... i didn't get a picture of it all but here are my favorites. (focusing on the more personal items in this post)
Tumblr media
oh! and if you look at (6) between that person in pink and that person in red, you see a little desk. on this desk was "Mrs. Hudson's guest book" (right underneath the window) and you could write your name in it!!! i loved that little detail! 🥰
there was a hat (7) and spinning wheel (8).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
then the fireplace in victorian style with a painting above (9),
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and before i move on to the more museum-like items in the next post, here is a (bad and blurry, with people in it - i am sorry 😭) wide-angle shot of the room (10) from the opposite side of (6).
this post is part 2 of a series.
-> part 1
-> part 3
(other parts will be linked once they have been uploaded)
Somnambulant Soulmates (rise Donnie x gn reader)Pt.2
Prologue, Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6
Word Count: 2737
You two could not seem to stop bumping into each other.
At the store, the mall, the sidewalk, anywhere you ventured, it was almost impossible to not run into him.
Initially, you thought you were being stalked or messed with or something. Out of all of the millions of people in New York City, what were the odds of seeing the same person multiple times in a week without coordination? Coincidence? You thought not.
Now, it wasn’t like you two had engaged or anything. The day after April’s party, you went to pick up some lunch from a nearby cafe. While you navigated the bustling streets and stampedes of consumers, a flash of vaguely familiar purple rushed by you. When you took a double take to discern if it was him and if you should say hello, you smacked straight into the person walking in front of you. Despite your mumbling and apology, the person, the entire crowd pressed on, and despite confirming that it was, in fact, the purple turtle who passed by, you kept trudging along, thoughts of him quickly dissipating.
Until the following day.
That was when you had passed by him in a shopping complex. Nothing odd occurred, just him being in the same place as you at the same time again, though you noticed the confused glances you both tossed at each other from over your shoulders.
Two days after that was a run-in at a hardware store. Unsurprisingly, it once again only consisted of you walking in the opposite direction as him, and, once again, neither of you said anything verbally.
However, the day after when, predictably, he was there when you went out again, it almost drove you nuts.
In that instance, you were waiting in a food cart’s lengthy line. The cold air bit at you, though the warm, vibrant smells that wafted from the heavenly cart brought some solace to your experience.
Your contentment was short lived. The sounds of footsteps growing near quickly met your ears and, upon reaching right behind you in line, stopped. You spared a glance back, and you sort of wished you hadn’t. The reason being was because the motif-like turtle in your life was right there, scrolling boredly on his phone, standing nonchalantly as if he hadn’t been incidentally plaguing you the last few days.
Oh, well. If you were to keep seeing him everywhere, you might as well strike up some conversation.
“Oh, hey!” you ripped off the proverbial band aid.
“Oh,” he observed artificially. Almost as though he had already noticed your presence, which was likely. “Hello.”
“Wait, wait, your name is don- don’t tell me - Donatello, yeah?”
He took in a breath, and you could tell just by the pedantic manner of the inhale that it wasn’t quite right. Then you remembered.
“Donnie!” you shouted excitedly, then froze when you remembered that you were in an extremely public place and yelling. “I mean, Donnie,” you recovered, much more calmly.
“Uh huh,” he nodded. “So,” he clicked his tongue, “what brings you here?”
You interpreted that he was probing, likely trying to see if you had, indeed, been following him. You couldn’t blame him for it. You were about to do the same thing.
“Pizza.” You nictated.
He blinked right back. “Same.”
“I come here every week,” you two spoke in unison, looking at each other in a puzzled manner.
“I don’t recall seeing you here before,” he said, the suspicion from his earlier tone already dissipated.
“Nor do I.” You hummed, shuffled forward in line. “Every Thursday?”
“Without fail.”
“Me too.” You eyed him cautiously. “Although I’m normally earlier.”
“And I’m typically here later. I suppose we’ve just been missing each other.” He seemed genuinely surprised. Good. That made it a lot less likely that there was some ulterior motive or reason he kept appearing.
“Guess so,” you surmised as you finally made it to the front of the line. Pulling out your wallet, you exchanged a couple of dollars for a hot, delectable, oversized slice with the worker. “See you around!” Worries about being pranked alleviated and pizza acquired, you waved him a goodbye and set off on your way.
Now, a full week after the birthday party, you found yourself briskly walking to complete an errand when an all-too predictable person entered your vision.
With a sigh, you acknowledged the now common, unplanned accompaniment beside you that was Donnie.
“Library?”
“Library.”
“Not surprising,” you surmised with a shrug as you neared the entrance.
“Odd we keep meeting, huh?” he observed casually as he pushed open the door, shifting back to grant you passage first.
You laughed quickly, a little too brazen, a little too loud. You recovered with the clearing of your throat and a polite nod as you thanked him and headed through the door.
“I reckon.” Once entering, you ambled slowly, your pace and the free space at your side an invitation for him that he gladly accepted. Your tone lowered, being in a library and all, as you changed the subject. “So, what are you here for?”
You couldn’t help the corners of your lips from turning up as you saw his eyes light up. “Oh, not much,” he started nonchalantly, though a grin was quick to take over his face as well. “Just the modern revolutionization of technology as we know it. The integration of mystic weaponry and resources into more variations of tech. My tech has already been enhanced by such gems,” - he tapped the side of said goggles for emphasis - “but the scale of what I’m working on is unprecedented. I’ve got big plans…” he trailed off, realizing he had dominated the conversation. You were probably bored out of your mind, trying to figure out how to get away from him and his odd spiels like his brothers would.
But when he looked at you, your eyes were eagerly locked on his, your engagement was written clearly on your face. You jumped into the chat, filling the silence between you two as you walked toward the front desk. “I was just here to get some quiet and work on a report, but your thing sounds way more interesting. Mind if I join you?”
Donnie blinked.
Blinked again.
You… wanted to listen… to him? His mind and ego were simultaneously blown. The corners of his lips curled up again, something that seemed to be a recurring thing around you - 27 smiles already within his short time knowing you by his (undoubtedly correct) count.
“Not at all,” he tried and failed to stay casual once again, his eagerness practically oozing from his tone.
“Alright. Let me just check in with the libraria-”
Your journey toward the front desk was cut off by his arm linking with yours and dragging you abruptly to the left.
“Woah!” you exclaimed, not upset but certainly confused. “Shouldn’t we sign in or something? No?” You tapped the library card attached to the strap of your bookbag as you continued to get pulled along past aisleways, and the crisp scent of fresh paper and ink flooded your olfactory senses.
“But of course,” he winked. It offered only more confusion and questions rather than answers. Your face must have expressed that seeing as a smug grin formed on his. “That would be correct, if we were headed to the normal section of the library.”
“The normal-?” You tilted your head. “I don’t follow.”
“Well, my good fellow, fortunately for you all you have to do is follow. My lead, that is,” he clarified as he turned you two into an aisle of books.
Donnie finally relinquished your arm, leaving you to stand awkwardly by your lonesome as he scanned over a nearby shelf. Both out of comfort and not knowing what to do with them, you slipped your hands into your pockets, rocking slowly back and forth on your heels.
“Tada!” the terrapin turned back towards you enthusiastically after he thumbed a medium sized book from the middle of the shelf.
The binding looked relatively worn and decorated with archaic sigils of some sort, the burgundy leather of the cover discolored in some places from the multitude of hands that had been on it, but the novel still clearly read: A Rudimentary Guide for Geology and Archaeology.
“You must really love geology, huh?” you ventured based on the fact that he was practically vibrating with excitement.
However, his nose scrunched at the insinuation. “No, geology is arguably the worst subset of science.”
You squinted. Man, this turtle really couldn’t keep anything consistent.
Just as you moved your lips to retort, he caught on to your line of reasoning.
“Oh, no. That’s not why I selected this one. This is a special- sigh, let me just show you.” He took a few steps toward you, book in hand.
“Behold!” Donnie proclaimed, quickly pulling the book open and-
Nothing happened.
After a silent, action-deprived moment, he looked at you, the book, you again, and pursed his lips.
“Heh, sorry. Wrong one,” he shrugged before slowly placing down the apparently incorrect book and retrieving yet another book on geology. All the while, you could hear the occasional mumble of how much geology stinks, how the books about it couldn’t even be told apart, etc. “Here we go!”
You opened your mouth, some question or retort already starting to pour out of it, but before you could get out a word, he opened the book, and you both were pulled into it.
Your figure translated onto- no, into the book, your bag and limbs and entirety nothing but two-dimensional illustrations on fluttering pages. Every atom of your existence translated onto paper, though it didn’t hurt; it just felt like you were made of butterflies.
Then it went dark.
Before everything was bright again.
Fluorescent lights, bookshelves, your feet on solid ground, everything seemed like it was back to normal at the library. Except for the flying books and bookshelves.
Tomes soared unnaturally overhead, along with shelves stocked to the brim with them, almost sentiently, flapping and whirring about. Turrets of mystic energy flowed throughout the large room. Grand staircases led to even more rows and rows of novels. Some of the staircases were even inverted, seemingly having no respect for the concept of gravity nor your mind’s ability to grasp what you were looking at.
“Ta-stinking-da!” Donnie exclaimed, a hand to his chest, the other trimly at his side.
“Woah. What… is this place?” you pondered. Holding onto the straps of your bookbag, you allowed yourself to look all around, try to absorb as much of what you were seeing as you could.
“Welcome to the Mystic Library!” He grinned. Although, as he spoke, you saw his eyes flick up, before he quieted down. “I mean, welcome to the Mystic Library!” he corrected in an equally enthusiastic whisper.
You tracked where his gaze went only to see numerous winged, bat-like creatures hanging from the ceiling, glowing orange eyes boring into you two.
“Woah, uh, what’re those?”
“Hush-bats.” His shoulders went up and down, coolly, as though they were a typical part of any standard library. Upon seeing your skeptical face, he elaborated. “They make sure people abide by the library’s regulations, especially those about noise levels. Essentially, they’re security and imprison troublemakers.”
“And the librarian’s just fine with those bats hanging there?” Your voice was quieter after you learned of the repercussions of being too loud.
“Well, the librarian might have been incapacitated by a while ago and placed into confinement. No part of it was my fault, of course.” His tone, more monotonous yet higher pitched than normal, screamed that he was lying.
“Are they alright?”
“Probably. I haven’t checked.”
“What?” You raised your voice slightly out of concern.
“You should quiet down if you don’t want to be dragged by bats and end up there with her.”
“What?”
“Keep your voice below, say, 60 decibels and you’ll be fine.”
“What!?” you whisper-yelled, incredulous.
“Just come on,” he mumbled and began walking down the aisleway, and you went along. Trekking down maroon-carpeted corridors, navigating through and around sliding bookcases, sliding down staircases, you eventually found your way to a cozily lit space.
Three bookshelves boxed in the majority of the area, save for the entrance, and in the middle of the space sat a sienna desk. Various bean bag chairs accompanied the desk on each and every side of it.
You entered, plopping your book bag beside you and yourself into one of the tall, yet comfortable bean bags in the room. Elbows propped up on the table, you rested your head on your hands and took in the scenery around you.
Your company was busying himself with scanning the rows of books in front of him and grabbing a thick stack of books related to his topic. Once he had a satisfactory, barely-able-to-be-held pile, he joined the chair beside you and placed the research sources on the desk.
“Sooo,” you mused, “what did you say about the ‘revolutionization’ of technology?”
He practically illuminated the place as he started what would become a two hour spiel, complete with illustrations and diagrams from inside his books and what you would call “theater kid pizazz.”
Any time you got slightly confused or downright lost, you politely raised a hand, and Donnie, reluctantly yet not impatiently, would explain the mechanics in a slower and simpler way. You still didn’t catch all of it, but you got the basic idea down.
Eventually, you realized the time and, wanting to get home before dark, had him lead you back out. Having to go through the mystic book again was as odd as it was the first time, though it was slightly less disconcerting.
After reaching your typical library and committing the book and aisle number to memory and resolving to come back sometime, you bid him adieu, each of you parting ways and heading to your respective residences.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After he arrived at the lair that night and got into his all-too welcoming bed, Donnie’s rampant thoughts could not cease to roar through his mind like frothy rapids.
Not that he could normally stop his brain from going on tangents, but this matter of contemplation was especially perplexing because the subject of it was you.
Well, not you specifically, just the enigmatically frequent running-into’s you two shared.
It reminded him of his previous week’s research into similar subjects of souls, people, atoms experiencing attraction as a side effect of their formation.
Could his impromptu hangouts with you plausibly be some kind of… predestined, predetermined meetings?
The thought, just like the previous time he pondered it, was preposterous.
However, something else, something greater being at play seemed plausible when considering:
the convenient timing of looking into the concept of soul mates just before being confronted with this strange recurrence
the absurdity of your bumping into each other being a recurrence
the fact that you were also perplexed by it, which implied it wasn’t your or his doing
the way that-
Wait, was he seriously considering data points?
He paused his train of thought, eyes trained intently on his ceiling.
There was no way he was genuinely contemplating that.
Rubbing his temples, he decided to call it a night, especially since his deprived mind was playing into such odd fantasies.
So, Donnie disrobed his mask, goggles, all his other gear, plugged in his tech for the night, and went to sleep.
After a little more research on the topic, of course.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You all but collapsed on your bed upon reaching home, your blanket muffling a sleepy yawn.
Your heart remained aglow with warm sentiment from your discovery of a mystic library, of a whole collection of new books to read, of an enticing new friendship formed.
Suddenly, a notification drew your face from your covers and to your phone screen.
Instead of a message from a friend or acquaintance or anyone pleasant, the notification was telling something far more dreaded.
The report was due. The report that you had intended to complete earlier before you were irrevocably distracted. That report.
Begrudgingly, you pulled up your draft with a groan. However, as you typed away, your knitted brow slowly melted, the sweet memories of earlier dissolving your bitterness.
You released a wistful sigh.
Yeah. It sure was odd how you two kept bumping into each other.
(p much library meet-cute and foreshadowing, I had fun with the banter ✨)
Shadows Entwined: part 9
BatmanVsTmnt!Leonardo x sidekick!reader
Tumblr media
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 / Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Bonus (18+)
---------------
A/N: I just passed my exam and finished yet another part of Shadows Entwined!🤩💙 It’s not super long this time. Due to my exam I decided to cut it a little short this time around, but I hope it’s still enjoyable😘💙
---------------
Warnings: None💙
The reader and the turtles are 19.
---------------
That day, all up on till the sun disappeared below the horizon, was relatively uneventful. While the sun stood in the sky, the turtles slept away in their rooms, while you, Damian and Barbara stayed in the Batcave with Alfred, keeping an eye on Bruce, and working away, trying to figure out where Ra’s al Ghul and Shredder was hiding out, and the much more pressing question; what were they working on? Why were the two villains working together?
You, Barbara and Damian had all decided to stay in costume, just in case any of the four terrapins would wake up. But as you pulled on your mask in your room, you couldn’t help but feel a rush in your stomach at the thought of the night before. What Leo had said about your face made you smile like crazy, and the thought of how close you had been to… how close you had been to kiss Leo made you gitty. Of course you couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if you had kissed, finding yourself daydreaming on your way down to the Batcave with a small skip in your step, thinking of how Leo’s lips would have felt against yours.
But then the sobering reality hit you as soon as you entered the Batcave, the sight of your still unconscious father reminding you of all the other things that happened the night before. The towering gothic halls of Arkham. How terrified you had been while Leo had been under the influence of the Crane Gass, unable to do anything as he seemed terrified that you wouldn’t look him in the eyes, even though you had never said such a thing. And how your father, the dark knight, was turned into a mutant bat before your very eyes. Suddenly your little daydream about the almost kiss with Leo wasn’t the only thing on your mind.
It was around dinner time that the turtles woke up. At that point the dark had already fallen over Gotham, the sun being hidden behind a thick layer of dark clouds, the city rarely having more than a few hours of life during the day.
Sitting down next to Leo as you ate, your heart couldn’t help but flutter at the small smile he shot at you, his blue eyes twinkling a little as they searched for yours. It was clear that he also remembered the night before, both the good and the bad parts, seeming a little unsure if he was still in your good grace. But the smile you sent back at him, made him relax with a silent sigh, finally letting him eat without his heart jumping like mad.
After dinner, all of you went straight back to work, looking through any possible leads on where Ra’s and Shredder could be, while Alfred continued his care of Bruce, in the company of a worrisome Robin and a curious yet slightly scared Mikey. And then, lo and behold, Batgirl struck gold, showing you all her findings on the big screen of the computer.
“The Wayne Enterprises’ container ship that was moving the Cloud Seeder to Bludhaven, was hijacked last night”, Batgirl explained, reading up from her findings. “The thieves then smuggled the Cloud Seeder back into Gotham port”.
Raph grumbled with his arms crossed and his teeth clenched. “While we were dealing with those freaks in Arkham”. He was right. Arkham had been nothing but a distraction.
Donatello, who was seated in the chair right in front of the big computer, looked at the screen in thought, a finger tapping on his chin, before he seemed to have a realization, tapping away on the keys.
“With the machinery the Foot has stolen, I think they’re building something that’ll mix the ooze with Joker’s formula, and launch the Joker-ised ooze into the clouds above the city”, he said, pulling up pictures of the machinery for you all to see.
“And when it rains down, it’ll turn everyone in Gotham into a monster mutant like Batman”, Leo said, dreading in his voice. Having fought against mutant Batman was one thing, but a whole city? And not just any city, but your city. Yet another reason for Leo to hate everything the Foot and Shredder stood for.
“Dudes!”, Mikey yelled in eagerness from Batman’s table, causing all of you to turn, fearing the worst. Even Robin jumped from his chair, seemingly ready to fight whatever threat Mikey had seen. But there was no threat. Just Mikey screaming beside Bruce Wayne. “I’m freaking out here!”, he said, placing both hands on his head, as if he was trying to keep his mind from exploding. “Did everyone else know that Batman is Bruce Wayne?!”
The silence that followed, only broken by the smack of Raph’s face palm, spoke for the situation itself. You might not have been the biggest fan of Raph’s way of doing things, but you could not deny how much you related to that smack against his forehead.
“I mean, you knew the Batcave was under Wayne Manor”, Donnie said with a raised brow bone. He knew that his little brother wasn’t the sharpest knife in the draw, but he had never thought that such a revelation would take so long for Mikey to realize.
“I’m just saying it’s a lot to take in”, Mikey said, stretching his face in thought, before he rested his elbows against Bruce, causing Alfred to see red in the corner of his eyes. “Rich and cool! Like leave something for the rest of us guy!” Alfred let out a loud sigh, before he started moving Mikey away from Bruce, causing the orange clad turtle to yell out in protest at the butler. “I’m going, I’m going, okay!”
You looked at Leo with a questionable look, and all he could do was sigh with a small nod. Yes, Mikey was always like that.
“Do we have any idea where Shredder and Ra’s are building this machine?”, you asked, turning back towards Batgirl and Donnie, feeling Leo’s eyes on you, along with the small tug at the corner of his mouth. Apparently you were asking the right questions. And much to your luck, that question sparked a thought in Batgirl’s head.
“I don’t know exactly how Joker makes his venom, but I do know where the components would be”, Batgirl said, leaning over Donnie in order to press on the computer keys. His small flustered expression made you choke down a chuckle. Oh, how you were going to press Batgirl with your knowledge. Even Leo seemed to notice, enhancing small glances with you. Both of you knew something, that much was obvious. Leo poked at Donnie with a small finger, causing the purple clad turtle to scowl at him. “Ace Chemicals”, Batgirl continued, pulling up a picture of the facility. “It’s where the Joker was created, when he fell into a vat of, you know, chemicals. So if they need venom, they’ll be there”.
“But it’s walled off”, Leo pointed out, noting the high walls and barbed wire. “Easy to defend”.
“So what?”, Raph said, sounding frustrated. “If they’re dugg in and ready for a fight, then we bring them a freaking fight”, he continued, slamming his fists together with a dark smile.
“We aren’t doing anything”, a deep voice sounded behind you. You turned in joy, seeing Alfred helping your father up to stand, Robin running to his side in order to help.
“Master Bruce you’re not well”, Alfred said in concern, wishing Bruce would sit down once again.
“I’m as well as I need to be”, Bruce grumbled, taking the drop out of his arm, his gaze turning to the turtles. He stared at them for a moment, before walking to his neatly folded costume on a nearby table. “Batgirl and Robin are coming with me to Ace. (H/N) stays in the manor. The turtles are going home”.
“What?”, Mikey exclaimed in sadness and shock as Bruce pulled on his costume over his head. “C’mon, we know your secret identity now! Our team up have been surmounted!”
“I gave you a change”, Bruce said in a stern voice, turning directly towards the terrapin brothers. “You four are impulsive, and you don’t follow orders”. His eyes narrowing at them. “I want you out of Gotham!”
“Uh, father”, Robin said, his small frame stepping between them. “Look, it pains me to say this, but the turtles saved you in Arkham. They are valiant allies! Even the dumb one! Michelangelo”.
“Hey!”, Mikey exclaimed in a displeased expression. “Not cool!”
“If it wasn’t for them, Joker would have never gotten close enough to inject me in the first place”, Bruce said in a scowl as he closed the clasp on his cape, before pulling the mask up over his head, once again becoming the dark knight of Gotham City, before turning his back to them. “This is not up for discussion”.
Leo felt the burning stair from Batman, telling him to do exactly as he had been told too. To leave Gotham. But Leo’s heart stung at the thought, because leaving Gotham meant not just leaving the city, but leaving you. Leo once again thought back to the visions he had seen under the influence of the Crane Gass. How he had scared you. How you had feared him. He still did not know if these visions had been real, but never did he wish for those visions to be real. He hoped that none of it had been true and just his mind playing tricks on him. But in reality, Leo did not know. He remembered how scared that you had been when you entered Arkham, and how fearful you had been when you walked the halls, and the more Leo thought about it, the more it unsettles him. Maybe Batman was right. Maybe it was best if you stayed in the Wayne Manor where you could be safe while Batman, Robin and Batgirl headed out. And maybe, just maybe it was best if Leo and his brothers left. Leo had scared you once and he did not wish to do it again, even if it was going to hurt him.
“Maybe he’s right”, Leo mumbled, looking down at his feet, not wanting to meet your confused eyes. He could almost hear your heart crack just a little inside your chest, not wanting to believe what you were hearing as he turned towards his brothers. “Following Batman’s lead took us to Arkham and distracted us from Shredder”, he said, not noticing the deepening frown on Raph’s face. We’d be better off on your own”.
“No! No! He ain’t right!”, Raph yelled, pushing back his brothers so he could storm forward. He pushed the leader in blue so hard that he tumbled, only just catching himself before he fell onto you, your eyes meeting once again, sending shock waves through the two of you. Leo felt his mouth dry out as he stared into your eyes, knowing full well that they would be the hardest thing for him to leave behind. The hurt in your eyes and the way his heart was aching, making him freeze in place, unsure of what to do or say. Leo did not want to go. He did not want to leave you. Could he just stand there and look at you forever he would, but sadly, your father did want it to be like that.
“Look, Batman”, Raph said, making his way to your father, who was busy assembling his beloved utility belt. “I get it! The whole brooding loner thing, sitting on top of roof tops, mumbling about how you’re the only one that can stand up to evil in your own city. That’s my whole deal! I love that stuff! And I totally agree that my brothers are annoying, unbearably so sometimes”.
“Uhm”, Leo said, finally realizing that Raph had been talking the whole time the two of you had been locked in each other’s eyes. “Where are you going with this?”
“Teh!”, Raph said annoyed, turning back to Batman. “That’s why. When things get though, I don’t even bother with them. I go off on my own and do things my way!”
“He does do that”, Donnie said, Mikey agreeing with a sounding nod.
“Still doesn’t explain where he’s going”, you whispered, making Leo hum in agreement.
“Yeah, but here’s the thing”, Raph continued. “Every single time, I just get into more trouble and my brothers have to bail me out”.
"It's true!”, Mikey chimed in. “Every time”.
“Sure we make mistakes. Sure we make the wrong moves”, Raph went on, ignoring his little brother. “But we can’t get better-”. Raph grabbed onto Batman’s arm in order to turn him around to face him, making you, Batgirl, Robin and Alfred gasp in surprise. No one just grabbed onto Batman nor Bruce Wayne like that. That was just not how it worked. “-If you don’t trust us”. The turtles, seeming to understand the severity of Raph’s actions, watched with wide eyes. Donnie even covered his mouth, Leo’s eyes going wide and Mikey gasping out loud. Batman said nothing but just narrowed his eyes at the square jawed mutant, almost daring him to continue. “We’re a family, and learning from your mistakes together, is how a family works”.
“This is not a family”, Batman rumbled, bumping his shoulder against Raph’s as he walked past him. “It’s a team”.
“Ain’t that the same thing?”
That comment made Batman halt in his actions. It was as if those words had touched a nerve deep within him. Batman said nothing but stared forward, his thoughts running wild in his head. Raph’s words echoing in his head as he looked to Alfred, Robin, you and Batgirl and then to the turtles, only to notice how close all of you were standing. And how you and Leo seemed to seek each other out in the small crowd. Just like he had noticed the two of you do in Arkham. And on the roof. Even during your first meeting and fight together.
“You’re right”, he finally said, making you all stare at him in disbelief. You felt your palm begin to sweat as Batman made his way towards Leo, determination in his eyes. “Let’s stop Ra’s and Shredder”, he said, before extending a hand to the leader of the turtles. “Together”.
Leo looked at Batman’s hand, extending his own hand in order to shake it, when suddenly…
“Awesome! Dips on the Batmobile!”, Mikey yelled, jumping over the head of a growling Raph, skipping right by you in a rush and right through Leo and Batman’s handshake.
“Uh, we have our own ride”, Leo said after Mikey, not sure if his forgetful lille brother actually was able to remember it.
“You do?”, Batgirl asked Donnie in confusion, causing Donnie to beam with innocent pride, thinking of the van he had tuned up.
“Yeah, we didn’t walk here from New York”, Donnie smiled, secretly hoping that Batgirl would ask about the van.
“Don’t care!”, Mikey yelled, already inside Batman’s car, fastening his seatbelt. “Called the Batmobile!”
Batman looked from Mikey to Leo, his eyes lingering at him for a moment before giving him a small nod. It was time to find Shredder and Ra’s.
Just finished ROTTMNT Season 2
So I know why y'all told me to watch the rest of Season 2 before watching the movie. Omg so much happened in these last 4 episodes!! Ranting and raving below
Tumblr media
I know I am hella late to the party, but wow that pivoted so hard. I was stuck and was unable to watch the four part finale. It just happened that the last episode I could get my hands on was "the "Battle Nexus: New York" which was better than getting part 1 and then having to wait for parts 2-4.
I was totally crying when we went into Splinter's memories, but I do like how they gave Splinter/Lou some backstory. It helps explain why he was very hands off with their training for so long and the most couch potato Splinter we've seen. I also like how they tied Casey and Karai into the story. Having them all related to Oroku Saki was a bit out there though. It is interesting seeing what directions they are going to go with whenever a new iteration of TMNT comes out.
[The fact that the Mayhem turtles don't have a last name makes me wonder if they will eventually tie with the Hamato clan or not. Splinter wasn't Yoshi or even a pet in that one.]
I do feel the ninpo thing was rushed, but it looks like they were closing the season up fast. Maybe they knew they weren't going to be renewed for another season? It feels like they crammed lots of feels and big events/changes into 4 episodes.
I guess the next thing to do is watch the movie, and from what I have gathered on here, it's going to be heavy. Might get to that this evening, but we'll see.
Sugar Rush : July 2023 CPNs 🫶🏼
Tumblr media
and so I have decided to shift the candy recap into a monthly release cause it’s too heavy for me to do the 6 months like i’ve been doing for the past years. I also thought about enjoying the last days of the year instead of stressing over editing the post like before. It will also ( hopefully ) make the readers appreciate every month more and not be too overwhelmed by the information. tho i have to say, there were a lot that happened tor July too.
enjoy the candies or catch up! ^^
• XZS vlog candies and sharing same brands
• HK newspapers featured them attending the Bay Area Film Concert
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• WYB giving us a sign for Yuguyao airing with his pokemon shirt ( part one )
• Shiying and XZ said the same thing? & XZ hinted with ‘don’t say so much’ ( part two )
• Yuguyao ( the longest promise ) related CPNs part three
• YIBO and XZS posting so close to each other @ 7/4/2023 and the 18 hint
• THEM PLAYING WITH THEIR LONG HAIR LIKE THAT ☺️☺️☺️☺️
Tumblr media
• Ruxi interview clues with XZ ( part four )
• Another bottled joy CPN
• Yuguyao sweets part V ( double standards & similarities )
• Sending each other voice message / video during CQL filming 💕
• XZ prefers shi ying x baili?
• Most likely paying some entertainment accounts to post rational advice for fans
• the use of 🤷🏻‍♀️ gesture
• feeding the dumpling 🥟
• small candies from one and only universal studios resort event
• Clues from XZS 7/11 video bts from 2021 birthday photoshoot
• Another example of posting so close from each other
Tumblr media
• yuguyao sweets part 6 and other things
• XZ once again shows off his card phonecase
• XZ and his preference for a stable relationship
• Wang Chuanjun holds dandan doll
• Entertainment circle connections
• XZ said he does not know if he & WYB are good friends 😂😂😂😂
• Another Bottled Joy clue
• Shiying x Xieyun on HS
• Similarity between XZS and YBO - this is not anything new because we have always been thinking that these studios have a connection. But this comes after the alleged exit of LRLG in YBO team. So cpfs are happy to see this again. Tho it does not confirm anything.
• doge + puppy preference
• In some screening previews of One and Only in theaters, XZ’s tsingtao short film ad was shown
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• not CPN, but turtles taking over YH family concert and showing support 💛💛💛
Tumblr media
• WYB looking at light signs @ YH concert 🧡
• Bottled Joy continues to not give AF and show their cpf bias
• Givenchy jumpsuits
• Video of the on the last day of shoot and XZ telling WYB he lost his chance but Bobo said he still has it
• Yibo knows about zodiacs/horoscopes + Leo x Libra compatibility reading from 2021
• CPN mix : reading about themselves on the internet, GG spending time with sick yibo, KXZ cue One and Only (?) Da Peng and 10:05
• Influx of new BXGs in the BJYX ST and GG changing his schedule when WYB was out sick
• Chen Shuo’s room includes KXZ movie projector
• XZS and YBO back at it again with their similarities
• A new clue in the BAH rumor ( massage parlor )
• Da bao and Xiao bao in Douyin
• Drawing detail in Ultraman Chen Shuo drawing + the posting time is 22:30 ( ai ai zan ) and on his cheeks is W and a heart. Again, we don’t know if the “cpf” friendly people are back on YBO team but nonetheless, we are enjoying this.
• Adding this here from the recent fake rumor posted 7/31/23. The summary is buying a green bag and it will be used. So we’re just waiting for either one of them to be seen with that lol. WYB is know for his black or that camo palace bag plus chanel. ZZ is mostly Gucci and Tod’s so i think it will be easy to spot.
That is all for this month! As with all my other recaps, it is impossible for me to add every single one. Most ( if not all ) of these are ones heavily talked about in the cpf circle. Please do not ask me to add things, I won’t do it. If there is a CPN that spoke to you for the month of July, that’s not on here then feel free to reply or reblog with your thoughts. This not an avenue to nitpick this post and say i forgot this or that. Thank you.
"Uh, did Hope ever have a gap tooth?" Don asked.
"Obviously not!" Sterling hit Don's arm. "I would have one if she did!"
Draxum seemed mildly concerned when he overheard and hurried over. "We have to get Michelangelo's spirit out of her before her body changes completely."
"No shit," Sterling muttered under her breath.
Casey pulled away from Michael and leapt away like he'd been burned. Michael stared blankly at in front of him in stunned silence. Draxum pinned his arm's to his currently-not-but-somehow-becoming-his body.
"A precaution," the goat explained for the glare he got. "Someone get a jar or something to contain his spirit after I remove it."
"...Is this gonna hurt?" Michael asked, not just for himself.
"Yes and no," Draxum replied. "Mostly no."
"Wha--"
Draxum placed his large hands on Michael's shoulder and chest, cutting the box turtle off. Both their eyes glowed as the group watched. Sterling scrambled off the couch, remembering the jar, and yanked open a cabinet to grab one.
Hope's body sagged, vines vanishing, the second Draxum got Michael's spirit out. Sterling arrived back just in time to capture the shimmering, burning thing in a jar.
Everyone released the breath they didn't realize they had all been holding. Sterling held the jar up.
"This'll hold, right? His spirit's kinda... made of fire," the woman asked, pausing as the jar heated up a tad. "And this is made of glass."
"It will have to for now. His spirit might fade without it," Draxum replied.
"Can't you mystically enhance it or something? Make it fireproof or whatever?" Don asked. "Rather not lose my brother twice, thank you."
Draxum sighed but nodded. Sterling shoved the heating jar into his hands and rushed to the sink just in case. The goat closed his eyes in focus. Slowly, through the spell he was muttering, the glass cooled in his hands. Don took it when Draxum was finished.
"What about his body?" Leo wondered curiously.
"Draxum can just make him one," Sterling shrugged. "He'd do anything for Mikey, present or future."
"Making a mutant is not easy," Draxum warned her.
Sterling narrowed her eyes. "Are you saying you won't do it?"
"No," Draxum said. "Don't put words in my mouth as you humans say."
Hope suddenly gasped awake and nearly fell off the couch if Sterling didn't catch her with her foot. All eyes turned to her.
"I never want to be stuck in a spirit plane ever again," Hope dragged a hand tiredly down her face.
Don held out the jar. "Say hello to the guy who was in control of your body for twenty-ish minutes give or take."
Hope did a quick double-take before turning to Mikey. "Of course future you did it."
"What-- hey! What's that supposed to mean?" Mikey squeaked in protest.
Hope rolled her eyes. "I didn't say anything."
Mikey opened his mouth to protest again, but the look Leo gave him made him shut it again. Sterling cleared her throat.
"Let's get back to talking about the whole giving-Michael-a-body-again situation please," she requested.
"I can do it, but it will take time for it to grow to the right size even if I speed up the process by a few months," Draxum explained.
"We'll wait as long as we have to," Don nodded resolutely.
---
Yeah, now Hope's back too! :DDD
Also please, I know some reading have probably been waiting for them all to finally get back to the past, and I wanted to make this part a little longer to fit in Michael getting his body, but I ended up deciding not to, BUT IT WILL HAPPEN NEXT CHAPTER
Realizing now that would leave the perfect amount of chapters left for the others, so here's the rundown:
Part 4 - Michael comes back
Part 5 - Leon comes back
Part 6 - Red comes back
Part 7 - Yarrow comes back
Part 8 - Apes comes back
Part 9 - A final hurt/comfort part to tie it all together
Chapter 8 Part 2
Shredder’s Private Dojo 7 Weeks Earlier
Karai’s tea felt warm on her lips. Her uncles recipe as she had been told. An aura of calm swept through her body like a spell.
That made sense. He always seemed magical in her memories. So full of life and joy. It brought the best out of many. Including her father.
But that man who used to smirk and laugh and tease with her uncle was not the same man across the chabudai in that moment. Not much proof was needed for this to be clear. Just by walking in the room he felt dark and cold like a forgotten corpse in the snow. Not many of Karais memories of her younger father were intact. Partly due to how long ago it was. Partly due to the fact that her parents went on missions frequently throughout her childhood. Partly due to the effects of her. . . “surgery”
But she could recall certain distinctions. His laughter. His smirks. His gentle yet firm arms as he carried the girl on his shoulder. Yet Karai could have been confusing him with her oji. That happened often. Sometimes when she tried to picture her father’s face without his helmet and mask all she could see was her oji.
Her train of thoughts along with the eerie silence of the room was broken by her sensei. “TCRI has located mutants within the city.”
What?
Mutants? The very demons who proved to be even more wretched than yokai and even oni by killing a quarter of the clan? Including her oji and . . .
mama.
“They have hired us to retrieve and deliver a specific 4. Turtles.” Her sensei rose from his seiza and moved slowly to the earthen walls of the dojo. A mural of a battle was painted on it. The face of the general was illuminated by the light of the surrounding rooms. Arms crossed behind his back he continued. “Their objective is to bring them back to their new stronghold alive and unharmed.”
Karai broke from her silence, letting one of her many questions slip out of her mouth. “What is wrong with their original stronghold?”
“Why do you think they want a specific 4 and not all of them? Yet.” Her sensei’s voice oozed with disgust and disappointed from her stupidity.
Wait. There are MORE!
“They are dangerous and skilled. Not to be taken lightly. Do you understand?”
Karai straightened at the cold remarks shaking her shock away as best as she could.
“Hai Sensei.”
Her father turned to her with a softer expression(at least from what she could guess).
“Which is why I will trust you with the mission.”
What?
Her father opened the door to the small balcony that viewed over the training rooms. She followed but made sure to keep a distance behind him. “You are to go undercover at the school the mutants are attending. Recover as much information as needed, report back to me as needed, and then.” In one fluent motion a kunai was thrown, barely missing Karai’s cheek as it flew and splintered itself into a wall. “Strike when the time is right.”
Karai thought over the proposal. Mutants were dangerous enough on their own from what she had been taught but trained warriors . . .
No. She had been training her whole life to avenge her clan. Her family. She couldn’t back down at the sight of a challenge.
“Hai Sensei.”
Shredder stayed seemingly frozen as he gazed onto the troops. That was her cue to leave. But as she started to he continued. “And one more thing.”
Karai’s eyes widened slightly. What? Did she miss something? A cue? A part of her mission?
“Ensure that there are as few survivors as possible. But of course leave no mess behind.”
“But our goal is to keep the mutants alive and unharmed.” Surprise and fear rushed in her body. Why was he being so cruel? Something’s wrong.
“I said their goal is to keep them alive and unharmed. I however have other plans.” His voice oozed with a substance like venom. Cold, dark, and insuring death upon those it landed on. Or in this case a deathly chill upon Karai. “But I am confident that you will be successful.” Another kunai was thrown this time slicing Karai’s cheek. She wanted to run but her muscles dared not move other than to allow a small gasp past her lips. “Correct, my daughter?”
Fear, as she had learned as a child was a very powerful thing. Flexible as nunchaku deadly as katana. But she had to remain the stronghold her father was determined to have her be. No matter what. ‘No exceptions, my daughter.’
“Hai Father.”
“Do not forget your place, child.”
. . .
“Hai Sensei.”
Somewhere in Harlem Present Day
What are you doing? Why are you holding back? Just KILL THEM.
Karai had her enemies trembling before her. Weakened and with no escape. The perfect opportunity to finish this.
So why couldn’t she do this. Why were her muscles held strained and taught? Messages from the inner thoughts in her brain were being sent to her body. But it refused to move like a rambunctious child.
You have one mission in your life. One. Just. Complete. It.
She was already in the perfect stance. Her weapon had been sharpened to a t. All she had to do was strike. Just. Strike.
Have you forgotten what they did to you? The foot? Your family? Complete the mission. Kill them.
Raph was so fucked.
His twin was gone. His youngest brother was gone. And the brother he did have with him was trembling next to him.
And what was the worst thing? He was helpless to protect any of them. Hell, he could barely catch his breath right now through the white hot pain of his own shell.
Why was this taking so long? Shouldn’t they be dead right now? He couldn’t hear Donnie screaming in agony?
Raph dared to pry his eyes open only to be met with their attackers amber ones. They were like some kind of cobra, piercing through the night and into his soul. Her eyes were wide in what he assumed to be cunning bloodlust. Her blade was raised so that one swift swing could slice Donnie’s head open like a can of tuna.
With the renewed fear Raph looked to his little brother. His nerdy sassy little brother. Who beat him at almost every video game he played. Who . . . had his arm stretched out infront of his body?
Was he really still trying to protect him? Cause he was pretty sure they were past that hope of someone making it out of this. They were both pretty royally fucked.
. . . Holy shit he’s trying to take the blow.
With that thought in mind, Raph squeezed Donnie’s shoulder harder and tried pushing his little brother back behind him. No way was he gonna take this blow. No damn way was Raph gonna let him do that while he could still protect the only brother he had left now.
Redirecting his gaze, he looked back up at there attacker with wide frightened eyes. Her eyes were sharp but her pupils remained unfocused as she looked the 2 turtles up and down. Weapon still raised.
And then her gaze . . . softened.
And then for a moment a wave of silence washed away the tension as eyes met eyes.
Breaking the silence, their attacker swiftly lowered her blade and muttered something under her breath (judging by the tone it sounded like a curse but the word itself was completely incoherent to Raph). She then spoke up. “The southern dock. Third warehouse down the row. Your associates are there. But you must leave now. TCRI is to retrieve them by midnight.”
Why the hell were they in a warehouse? How was TCRI involved with any of this? Why were these black market exchanges always at midnight?
Their attacker sheathed her weapon and took slow steps to the edge of the roof. Stopping briefly she turned her head slightly, one eye looking at them. “You may leave now. But this.” She paused before continuing. “Isn’t over.”
Raph was still processing all the information that had been dump on him like a waterfall. It took a few minutes before he could respond. “Thank-” When he looked up she was already gone.
Holy SHIT. What time is it?
Raph quickly yanked his phone from the pouch on his belt. Already 10:30?! They had to move now if what that random lady said was right. Without thinking Raph jumped to his feet and started off the roof to the dock.
But his younger brother nearly tripped him. Donnie was frozen in place, huffing air like it was evading him as fast as it had entered him.
“Donnie! Come on! We gotta go!”
He didn’t react to Raph was saying or doing but only flinched at the shouting. His breathing picking up speed.
Oh
Raph knew when his brothers were having these moments he needed to give them time and space. But they currently had zero time and the panic made him feel like they were loosing space for tension.
So Raph tried to find a middle ground by kneeling next to his brother. His arm firmly placed on his shoulder to ground the purple clad turtle. “D.”
This time Donnie looked up at Raph. Panic and confusion written all over his face. Raph didn’t really know what to do so he settled on trying to pull a Leo.“Come on. Let’s bring our brothers home.”
That seemed to readjust the young genius. “Right. Let’s go.”
After the elder of the two help the younger up, the ran back onto the rooftops once again. This time determined to bring their brothers home once for all.
Previous Masterpost Next
So yeah this chapter is a little long. But hopefully that’s a really good thing. Hope y’all enjoy this chapter and soak yourselves in the tiny bit of fluff and relief I gave you because you won’t be able to have that for a little bit. Again hope you guys like this chapter and my story because I’m tryna rap it up before Tottmnt(I probably won’t though). Cowabunga turtle fanz!
Bayverse!Raph x reader
Shredders first attack on New York. No one knew who took him down, but what happens when a local photographer was able to snap a picture before the true hero's were able to make it into the sewer.
Part 1 of 4
ALL PARTS ON MY PAGE
Hectic. If thats even the word to describe it. Debre everywhere, people running ,screaming, crowding this man who fell from the piller wedged between two skyscrapers. Not me, he wasn't the only thing falling from the sky.
Being a photographer, I always carried my camera. And being that I was the only one paying attention to what else was happening, I quickly lifted and clicked the button. Looking down at the photo I took.
4 figures. Huge. Green? Double checking the photo. As the crowd grew around me I quickly shut my camera off and headed back to my apartment. So much for a stroll out.
Heading inside and grabbing my laptop, I plug my camera into the port. Pulling up the recent photo. Exciting it and making it larger, there they were.
What are they? They had shells like turtles but, they had weapons attached to them. They were massive, clearly reaching over 6 feet tall.
Fascination and curiosity took over. Who are they? What are they?
*Two years later*
That picture hadn't left my mind. 2 years later its still there. Having no clues or getting any closer to the answers I crave. How is there no sightings or news about them? Everytime I feel myself needing to ask someone I cant bring myself to do it.
They clearly didn't want to be seen, plus who will believe me?
Well, I did let it slip to one person. My annoying roommate Casey, my cousin. And as I expected, he didn't believe me. Not that I care, I know what I saw.
Sitting in the living room, staring at the picture again, Casey walks in. "Really again?" He asked
"I cant help myself. I know their real, how else would I have got this?" I said lifting my device.
"Who knows, those cheap cameras bug all the time" he mumbled fixing his shirt
Rolling my eyes, "where are you headed to?" I asked
He sighed, "you remember the attack two years ago? Well that low life shredder is being moved today to a now facility. And guess who's transferring him?" He replies
"Hopefully not you" I jab with a smile
"Oh shut up" he laughs
"But seriously be safe okay? Rent is expensive and I don't want to pay it myself or God forbid find a new roomie" I said
"Ha ha, very funny" he replied sarcastically
30 minutes later he walk out bidding a goodbye.
Having a deep feeling in my gut I head to take a bath, its getting late might as well get ready for bed.
Sighing, looking at the picture. "Please be real" I whisper.
After my bath the feeling slightly went away. As I laid down staring at my plain ceiling, the thoughts keep running through my head. If shredder is being moved, those figures have to be keeping track right? Guessing they were fighting him. There is no way that scrawny Vern guy did it himself.
But, what if? What if they were working for him, being that they left so fast? Sighing, I guess I'm not going to get much sleep. Question after question kept coming.
Rolling over looking at my clock, I've been stressing over my thoughts for two hours. Groaning I get out of bed and head to the kitchen for some water.
Just as I make it to the kitchen, Casey came slamming through he door, "Shit Casey!" I yelled
"Damit!!" He yelled back
"What's your damage dude?" I asked placing my hand over my racing heart
"You remember shredder? Yeah well those foot people broke him out and he just, he just disappeared! Then out of no where this trash tuck pulls up trying to stop them, throwing man hole covers and it had these huge numb chucks! I tried to explain but you know what I got?! Fired!" He rushes
"A trash truck?" I asked
"Seriously? That's all you got from that?" He groaned
"No, I just-" I started
"You don't believe me do you?" He asked
"Yes, I do its just this sounds-" I started again
"Crazy, I know I know" he sighed
He walkes over to the couch, plopping down.
Sighing, I walk over and sit with him
"Look, I'm sorry you lost your job. Maybe we can figure something out" I suggested
"No, there were two other prisoners on that bus. I'm going to hunt them down and bring them to justice." He said
"Okay Mr. Detective. How do you plan on doing that?" I asked
"Their low life's, not one single braincell between them both. I'll figure it out." He replied
Hmm maybe just maybe I might be right. If that trash truck was there to stop shredder, could it be who I think it is?
"I'm going to head to bed, goodnight" I reply getting up.
Bidding his goodnight, I head to my room. Numb chucks, I know the orange one had those on him. Man hole covers, they went into the sewer after the attack.
Pulling up the picture one more time, " I might be onto you" I mumble
Son of Saki Part 4
Part 3 (and pink to full fic on A03 because I can't find the other parts.)
April took a deep breath, she knew she needed to be calm. Casey was counting on her, he'd be able to keep the Krang at bay for a while.
What she needed to do was focus on getting help. April looked at Irma, and softened seeing her terror. Of course, Irma must be terrified.
April knew all to well the feeling of feeling completly out of your depth. She'd thought about what introducing Irma to the turtles would be like. But, much like with Casey, it didn't go as planned.
Such was the life of April O'Neil.
"Irma, I know this is a lot and I swear that'll explain it all later. But right now I need you to trust me." Said April, she knew she was asking for a lot.
"I trust you" Said Irma though she was eyeing the manhole cover anxiously. April smiled, hoping it looked reassuring. Before climbing down into the sewers, beckoning Irma to join her.
Irma did so, gagging as she went down which made April laugh. "Ugh, how are you fine with this. I think I'm gonna vomit." Said Irma with a grimace.
"You get used to it" Said April, and wasn't that the truth. "And... I know they might look scary, but they won't hurt you. They're my friends."
She knows the guys won't be happy. But that they'd understand, they wouldn't hurt Irma. Not if April told them the truth like she intended too.
"Alright" Said Irma, and April really wanted to know if she was taking in any of this at all. Because if so, she was taking this better than she and Casey did.
'Casey....' She thought, reminded that he was still out there fighting those Krang bots. April quickened her pace, luckily Irma caught on and caught up.
The lair was pretty quiet, which to April was never a good sign. But maybe this meant she could sneak Irma in without being caught.
"April! Who is that?!"
Nevermind.
"Leo, hey! What's up?" Says April, in her best most chilled out voice. Her attempt to distract him fails miserably though.
"Who is this?! What are they doing here?!" Demands Leo, his gaze locks on Irma and it's icy cold.
Irma looks away, very much afraid. April stands infront of her, not because she thinks Leo will attack though.
The fact his katana's remain sheathed at the sight of an intruder speak volumes for the trust he's got in April. She'd feel honoured if things weren't so tense.
"I'm sorry" Said April, her earlier anxiety rushing back.
"We were out with Casey and we got attacked by Krang. We split up and I came to get help, but I couldn't leave her there." She explained before looking from Leo to Irma.
"Her name is Irma Langinstein, she's one of my best friends." Leo eyes Irma with a frown before his posture relaxes slightly.
"Alright, but I'm watching her." He gives a polite nod "I'm Leonardo." Irma nods, not at all sure what to say. Luckily, that's when Mikey darts over with a grin.
"What up, April's friend. Nice to meet ya any friend of April's is a friend of mine. I'm Mikey."
As friendly as Mikey was, there was a sense of nervousness in his voice. It may have been a distant memory know, but everyone knew of the Chris Bradford incident.
To his suprise and relief, Irma giggles at his antics. "It's nice to meet you too, I'm Irma... Is that pizza?" She asks, seeing the slice in his hand.
Mikey grins "yup, with algae, mushrooms and ice cream." Everyone around him gags but Irma looks at it curiously.
"You want one?" Asks Mikey seeing her look and she nods. Mikey excitedly hands it over before anyone can intervene.
Irma takes a bite and grins "this is amazing! Did you really come up with this yourself?" Mikey practically glowed at the praise.
"Sure did! You wanna see the rest of my recipes?" Irma nods, and let's Mikey drag her away excitedly rambling about pizza toppings. "Huh... Well I hope you said goodbye to your friend April." Said Donnie, amused.
"We sure she's not just humouring him? Because no one, no mutant or human on earth can eat Mikey's werid pizza with a smile." Said Raph, very confused.
April chuckled "if anyone would it's Irma. When we met she was eating strawberries with hot sauce. She's, a werid one." Raph snorts before turning to Leo "I'll go head out than, I'll be back soon enough."
Leo frowns "Raph you're not going anywhere, didn't you hear Sensei? The invasion is close by we can't afford to go out and be seen in the daylight. Especially with the Krang out there."
"I know that, but you heard April. Casey's still out there. I'm not leaving him to the Krang just to keep hiding in secrecy. I'll be back before you know it." Said Raph, firmly.
Leo scoffs "oh please, the second you go out they'll all be alerted by you're fighting."
Raph glares at his older brother, feeling his anger stirring. "... Are you saying I can't be stealthy?!" Leo folds his arms, defiant and stubborn. "That's exactly what I'm saying. You'll go and they'll all come running."
"If I may" interrupts Donnie "Raph and I could go head out in the Turtle Mech." Raph grins, glad someone's on his side. "See, you heard Donnie. We can go in the Turtle thingy and be back in no time."
"We are not taking that hunk of experimental junk out there! Casey can hold his own for a while and get back here." Said Leo, putting on his 'listen to me in in charge voice.'
A voice that has never worked on his brothers.
"Hunk of junk?!" Yells Donnie, immediately diving into a whole monologue defending his precious mech. All the while Raph argues that for as great as Casey is, he can't fight the Krang on equal footing.
"He's insane, but he's not... Even we struggle against the Krang so he definitely will." Said Raph, he doesn't want to talk badly about Casey's skills.
Because the boy was talented and skilled, but a ninja he was not. And the longer they left this, the more worried and angry Raph became.
April watched their exchange, knowing there was no way she could get a word in.
She understood where Leo was coming from. But she was firmly on Raph side, Casey wouldn't last much longer if he was alone.
Casey may act like a tough lone wolf but he wasn't. He needed a team, both on and off the ice. Casey needed people, she'd met him when he had no one. And April refused to leave him alone again.
She tried to ignore the way her head felt like it was going to split in two. But the wave of dizziness that hit her made her almost fall over.
What was happening? April had never felt so unwell in her life, and all in a matter of seconds.
"Raphael is right." Said Splinter walking in from the Dojo. He didn't notice April's plight, as his attention was focused squarely on his sons.
"But Sensei." Leo's words were cut off as Splinter held up his hand. "I agree that caution must be exercised, especially with the Krang making their moves."
He gives his sons a stern look "however, that is not a good excuse to leave a Casey Jones behind. He is a part of this team, we don't leave anyone behind. No matter how terrifying the odds may seem."
Leo looks down and Raph grins. It was rare for Leo to be on the receiving end of one of Splinters lectures. "Than it's settled, I'll go head out." Said Raph, he turned around to do so.
And paused.
"... Er guys?"
They all followed his gaze and were stunned by the sight. April was holding her head and she was glowing. Her body began to rise and glowing portals started appearing around the room.
Portals that Krang started pouring out of. "What's going on?!" Asked Leo, ducking for cover as blasts started raining down on them.
"April was the key! They must've done something to have her powers to activate without her noticing. They're using her to start the invasion." Explained Donnie, taking out the Krang bit beside him.
He ran to April's side, talking to her and begging her to come back. April blinked, falling to the ground and Donnie helped her up. Her powers deactivated but the portals remained opened.
"Oh God... No... No. I didn't... I didn't mean.." Said April, horrified as she took in the situation.
"It's not you're fault" Said Donnie. "Yeah this all these idiots doing." Agreed Raph. April leaped over to grab her tessen and began fighting back to back with Donnie.
But a Krang bot managed to knock her over. "April!" Yelled Donnie, going to help her but he had to deal with another bot close by.
"Get away from her!"
A blast echoed throughout the room as the bot on April was blasted to the other end of the room. April looked up, bewildered as she got to her feet and saw... "Irma?!"
Irma stood there but she was different. What had once been her left arm now resembled that of a purple canon, blasting pink beams that looked just like the Krang's.
"Well well it isn't the traitor known as Krang Subprime. Does the Krang known as Krang Subprime have anything to say?” Cackles one of the Krang, advancing towards her.
Irma glares, she runs towards them. "My. Name. Is. Irma!" Irma kicks the Krang upside the head. Flipping them off with one hand and shooting them with the other.
"You might've upgraded me but I am not one of you sick freaks!" She yells. Her anger dissipates seeing the confused looks from everyone. "I... I get that this is a lot but I swear I'm on your side."
Irma looks at April, terrified and pleading. "Just, please trust me." April, still reeling nods her head and gets up to fight. "Well... I was right, no human nor mutant could stomach Mikey's werid pizza." Said Raph, nodding slowly.
Irma snorts "cyborg, actually. My parents were scientists who made first contact with Krang who entered this planet. They exchanged their tech for information." She explained, all the while beating down the Krang around her.
"I got into some freak accident. They panicked, and begged these guys to save me... Hence the robot parts." The Krang glare at her "we improved you and you betrayed us."
Irma glares, punching them hard. "You killed my parents and than tried to raise me to be a killing machine. Fat chance of that, luckily I managed to escape. And I've been in New York ever since."
April frowned, sympathy in her eyes because she can tell how hard that was Irma. She herself can't imagine surviving in a strange place all alone.
"So you knew about us the whole time?" Asked Donnie, dodging as Mikey charged past him to attack some Krang.
Irma laughed "no actually. I found out after the Rat King incident. See, me and Casey were trapped in the same cage and try as he might I knew immediately it was him."
Even with the tense situation of facing what was basically a home invasion, everyone laughed.
"Of course he did" smiled April. "Heh yeah, and well I saw you guys show up. And put it together with the strange happenings going on and yeah." Explained Irma.
"But, if you knew why not say anything? Why not help us?" Asked Leo, slightly distrusful. Irma looked down, ashamed.
"I... I was afraid if I did I'd be caught by the Krang again. And I was afraid if April knew what I was, she wouldn't want to be friends anymore."
April looked at her, seriously. "Irma, I can move things with my mind. And I'm best friends with 4 teenage mutant ninja turtles and Casey Jones. You are by far the most normal person here."
Irma laughed "that's true" she said making April smile. "I don't care what you are, human, mutant, or cyborg. You are one of my best friends Irma, nothing changes that."
Irma felt a weight lift off her shoulders, how could she ever thought April would reject her. "And hey, you're here now fighting with us." Grinned Mikey "that's what matters." Raph blinks "Huh... He's right."
"Say it again, I need to record it." Said Mikey, cheekily. Splinter coughs, getting all of their attention. "I am proud of you for sticking together and overcoming personal hurdles. However, this conversation can continue later. Less talking, more fighting."
They all looked appropriately chastised and focus on fighting. Splinter looks at Irma "the Krang will not harm you again. On that I swear it. So long as you remain a loyal friend to my children, I will ensure your protection Miss Langinstein."
Irma blinks in suprise, a tear in her eye. "Thank you... Erm... I didn't catch your name." She said, embarrassed. "Hamato Yoshi, but call me Splinter." Irma nods "as long as you call me Irma, Sensei Splinter."
He nods in kind and the two face off against the Krang together. Irma smiles to herself, she had always wanted a family.
Author’s note: Part 4 of That Familiar Feeling
.........
Once upon a time Annabelle would’ve been absolutely convinced falling asleep against a rock solid, six-foot ninja turtle would be rather uncomfortable. Now, years of time travel under her belt, and a slew of awkward and unique sleeping arrangements later, she would assure you it was one of the most comfortable and safest spots she’d ever laid her head.
...which is why it was so easy for a hand to slide over her mouth to keep her from screaming.
Her eyes flashed open, adrenaline rushing through her veins as she instinctively began to move forward. A gentle, but firm hand held her in place. She met Sean Lander’s beautiful blue eyes, caught the finger he placed against his lips to keep her from speaking, and she relaxed back against Leonardo. Sean’s eyes widened just a touch, and he inclined his head in Leo’s direction. Slowly, carefully, Annabelle shifted out from under Leo’s heavy, currently limp, arm and eased off the couch. Sean took her hand, and quietly guided her away from the living room and the sleeping area. He was moving swiftly and quietly, traits he’d learned long before they ever began traveling through time, and she realized he was intentionally leading her towards the lair’s exit. She tugged her hand back, silently urging him to stop, and he turned, looking confused and urgent.
...and almost instantly terrified.
She heard the shout right before Sean yanked her to the side and out of the line of attack.
“GET AWAY FROM HER!”
It was still dark, but there was no mistaking Leo’s large and looming form as he landed directly in front of Sean. The room was instantly a burst of chaos – lights flashing on, an addition of other voices shouting and calling out questions, and a consistent blur of green. A wall formed as Mikey, Donnie, and Raph stood defensively between her and Sean and Leo.
Sean had managed to duck and roll to avoid most of Leo’s onslaught, but it was only a matter of time before the ninja pinned him up against a wall. Leo’s fists were balled into the front of Sean’s jacket, lifting him up off the floor a few inches to bring him to eye level. They were both glaring at one another, visibly furious, and for a moment the room went eerily still.
“How’d you find us?” Leo demanded, his voice deep and rough.
“It’s what we do,” Sean seethed through clenched teeth. “I won’t let you hurt her.” Leo blinked, surprised, and Annabelle saw her opening.
“Stop it! Stop it!” She cried, shoving past Donnie and Mikey, and grabbing Leo’s muscular arm. “Leo, let him go! He’s my brother, Leo. My brother!”
Leo’s piercing blue eyes turned to her, but his grip on Sean never lessened. “Really? It’s no easy task to find us. Or to get past Donnie’s defenses,” Leo growled. He cocked his head to the side a touch, and arched an eye ridge. “He really your brother? Or maybe an overly concerned boyfriend? You two don’t exactly look alike.”
“Hey, listen buddy - ,” Sean began, but Annabelle cut him off.
“Really, Leo? Because you look so much like your father,” she snapped.
His eye ridge rose higher. “Maybe don’t insult his dad, Belle,” Sean said in a slightly strangled tone – Leo’s grip had increased.
Annabelle narrowed her eyes, and she restrained herself from digging her nails into Leo’s pebbled skin. “And what if he was my boyfriend? Why would that matter?”
“Ummm, guys?” Mikey’s voice broke the tension as he gestured towards Sean who was desperately tapping out on Leo’s opposing shoulder.
“Air. Air!” He gasped, and Leo’s instantly released his grip, taking a step back as Sean crumbled to the floor, and Annabelle knelt to tend to him.
“Exactly how did you find me?” Annabelle asked softly, lifting his chin to examine his neck.
“Tracking chip in your left shoe,” Sean gasped, casting a nervous glance at Leo who’d moved to join his brothers. “There’s another in your right. Don’t ask for an apology – we get separated far too often for me not to have contingency plans.”
Annabelle stopped, sitting back on her heels. “That’s...that’s actually pretty brilliant, Sean.”
“You’re not angry?” He sounded surprised.
“I don’t know if normal boundaries apply in our situation.”
………..
Leo was trying to steady his breathing, and failing miserably as he watched Annabelle tend to the blonde intruder. The human was tall with curly blonde hair that tumbled over his forehead, lean and muscular, but not overtly so, with a chiseled jaw and brilliant blue eyes. He was exactly what Leo imagined all human women would describe as gorgeous, and Leo hated him for it.
“Dude chose a hell of a time to come visit,” Raph grunted, nudging Leo with his elbow. “None of the alarms went off. What woke you up?”
Leo’s gaze never faltered from the two humans. “I was suddenly very cold. You?”
“Mikey’s snoring stopped.”
“I do NOT snore!” Mikey protested, and Raph grunted again.
“I really would like to know how he got past all those alarms,” Donnie was muttering, clearly no longer concerned with their night time visitor.
Leo clenched his fists. His brothers were acting like this was no big deal – a stranger infiltrated their home soundlessly, and almost made it out with Annabelle in tow. Perhaps worse, she defended the intruder and got angry with Leo for trying to protect her. He could still feel their heated glare from minutes ago; it had sparked a dueling combination of irritation and attraction swirling in his head, and in that moment he couldn’t decide if he wanted to discipline her or kiss her.
A stray thought of doing both at the same time crossed his mind, and he was certain he blacked out for a minute. He must’ve because he never heard his father’s voice until Splinter laid a furry paw on his arm.
“Leonardo? Leonardo!”
Leo blinked, visibly jerking back in surprise. “What?” All eyes were on him, all full of surprise at his reaction. Leo was the turtle who lived in the now, who never lost focus. He kicked himself mentally. Maybe it would’ve been better if Sean had managed to sneak her out of the lair after all.
Leo cast a quick glance in her direction, and caught the look of concern on her face as she watched him. He swallowed hard. Then again…
“Leonardo,” Splinter said again, casting his son a knowing glance. “I was asking you to prepare some tea for our guests. It seems we have much to discuss.”
……..
Leo had made tea for his father almost daily since he was old enough to be cautious of the steam. He was certain even in his earliest days he’d never made such a commotion.
“Geez, Leo, take it easy,” Raph complained, grabbing bowls from the cupboard. “Teapot never hurt you.”
Leo slammed the electric kettle back down on the counter. Mikey jumped from the impact, and cereal scattered all over the kitchen.
“Dude!” He said, glaring at his older brother.
“What are you doing?” Leo asked, casting his eyes from Mikey to Raph.
“Midnight cereal!” Mikey said with a healthy dose of “duh” coating his words. “Whatever’s left of it, anyway,” he grumbled. “What’s your problem, anyway, Leo?”
Leo could not believe his ears. Was he the only one upset about this? “It doesn’t bother you he was able to get in here so easily?”
Raph shrugged. “So he’s smart. Or Donnie’s booby traps need updatin’. Or we got lazy. We’ve snuck into tons of places before without getting caught.”
Leo’s eyes widened. “WE’RE NINJAS!” He cried, thrusting a finger at his chest. “WE’RE SUPPOSED TO SNEAK INTO PLACES! HE’S JUST A STUPID HUMAN!”
Mikey’s brow furrowed. “Is that racist? It kinda sounded racist. Can we be racist against humans? I mean, we are mutants, and they are humans.”
Leo rolled his eyes. “Shut up, Mikey.”
“Ohhhh. I see.” The look of surprise on Raph’s face quickly faded into a cocky grin as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“That it’s racist? Or isn’t?” Mikey asked.
“That our fearless leader here has it bad for our new house guest, and he’s threatened by the first good looking guy to show up. Ya know – besides me.” Raph settled against the counter, grinning. Leo wanted to wipe that smug look off his brother’s face.
“You think he’s good looking?” Mikey quipped from the floor as he worked to gather the spilled cereal into an empty bowl. “This can be Donnie’s,” he whispered loudly.
“I’m not eating that,” Donnie announced, stepping into the kitchen and over Mikey. “And I suppose he’s good looking. He’s no Hugh Jackman.”
“He’s no Vin Diesel,” Raph added, shrugging. “But I could see Henry Cavill.”
“Yes,” Donnie said, pointing at him. “It’s the jaw line.”
“Exactly,” Raph agreed.
“WHAT IS WRONG WITH ALL OF YOU?” Leo shouted, unable to believe what he was hearing. “HE BROKE INTO OUR HOME! HE PUT TRACKING CHIPS IN ANNABELLE’S SHOES!”
“She didn’t seem upset about that,” Mikey said, still gathering floor cereal.
“And Raph did sorta kidnap her,” Donnie added.
“Face it, Leo,” Raph said, still wearing that same smug expression. “You got the hots for her, and you feel threatened.”
“I do not,” Leo growled.
“So then you don’t mind if I make a move, then?” Raph asked, pushing away from the counter. “I always did have a thing for brunettes with a nice set of hips.”
…….
Annabelle and Sean sat on the floor in Splinter’s room, their eyes constantly darting to the doorway. They couldn’t hear everything, but the noise had escalated from banging dishes to Leo shouting to what certainly sounded like an all-out war.
“Ummmm,” Annabelle began, wincing at the sound of another crash. “Should we…go out there, and help… or something?”
Splinter, to his credit, seemed unmoved. “Do either of you have children?” The two humans shook their heads. “Then let me give you some advice for the future: it is when your children are quiet you should be most concerned. Now, as I was saying… .”
Another crash. Mikey crying, “Not the Cocoa Puffs!”
“I just rebuilt that table!” Donnie this time.
“...and that is how I chose my son’s names. But by then it was clear…,” Splinter continued.
“If I die down here,” Sean whispered, leaning over to Annabelle, “I blame you.”
Annabelle nodded. “Yeah, that’s fair.”
