Ace says that he doesn’t own any shirts or cutoff jeans similar to his Stitch outfit, so it might be safe to say that that look is different from his usual wardrobe?

He comments on the outfit having a “vacation vibe” and that Crowley would likely love the clothes, but maybe not about liking them himself?

He does seem to like the sunglasses, and sunglasses in general may be something that Ace likes: he receives a pair of high-end brand sunglasses for his birthday (“Gold frames with brown lenses. They look so slick! Very mature. I am beyond hyped!”) that he seems to appreciate very much.

Ace is excited about the shopping in the Fairest City (“Look at all these cool clothes and accessories!…They got stuff I like in here. Look at this T-shirt!”), so maybe T-shirts are a part of his usual wardrobe?

Ace says, “Maybe I'm not the most informed when it comes to fashion, but I'm pretty confident I know how to tell good quality from bad.”

He reads fashion magazines the he receives as hand-me-downs from upperclassmen, and Floyd says that he “gets real into it” when they talk about clothes and shoes and they recently were looking at limited-edition sneakers together.

Deuce says Ace talks about wanting new clothes and basketball shoes pretty often and Ace asks Vil about getting information about new bag releases from Luxe.

Ace has two different comments about liking when his legs look long. Is that maybe something he prioritizes when styling himself?

Ace does not seem fond of the Phantom Bride tuxedo, saying he isn’t used to such fancy clothes and can’t decide if it is “cool and new” or “just stuffy and uncomfortable,” but he seems to like his look in the Tapis Rouge event.

Ace and Vil have a conversation about adding designer pieces to to normal outfits to “level up your whole look,” with Vil suggesting a charcoal grey jacket and Ace saying “it’d be so much fun thinking up ways of styling that jacket,” so maybe he is fond of designer brands?

Unlike Vil, Azul and Jamil, Ace does not buy anything during Tapis Rouge. It is possible that Ace’s fashion preferences are too expensive for him to fulfill, as commented on by Grim: Ace: "We can't even afford their of-the-rack stuff." Grim: "Is that 'cause your poor?" Ace: "That's part of it, sure."

Ace says he "thought an all-white outfit would look boring" about his Fairy Gala look and he is worried about the embroidery on his Playfulland costume getting snagged on things, so it is possible that all-white coordinates and heavy embroidery are maybe not parts of his usual wardrobe.

Ace tells a story about wearing a “flashy” shirt to a burger shop with the basketball team, but it seems the shirt was not actually to his tastes (he says that Floyd practically forced him to buy it), so maybe his personal wardrobe is not particularly loud? Or at least less so than the mysterious shirt that Floyd had him buy?

Deuce says that Ace “tends to dress pretty casual most of the time” and Grim says that Ace wears “lots of bold colors.” Deuce follows with, “Hate to admit it, but he’s got more fashion sense than me.”

Ace mentions spending a lot of time on making sure his hair was just right for Port Fest.

I'm checking Ortho but it is impossible because Ortho is not a student technically since he is a robot that is made by Idia (but who knows). And it is listed on his occupation at wiki as none.

Makes me wonder what happened to its Vice Dorm Leader :/ Isnt every dorm supposed to have a Vice Dorm Leader? or it is gonna be part of Ignihyde main story? I dont know.

That is very close to accurate! Cater does actually not directly ask Vil out on a date, speaking in a more roundabout way:

Original Cater: For a moment there I think I even wanted to date you ♪

EN Cater: Is this even real? Am I dreaming?

If Vil had responded something close to "If that is an invitation then I accept" I guess we could technically say that Cater did ask Vil out on a date? 🧐 But Vil does not! Instead he says:

Original Vil: Yes, yes. That’s a lot more expensive than the cost of a single photo, so prepare yourself.

EN Vil: Yes, yes. You should feel lucky there is no price for dreaming of me.

And here are more parts in the scene that were changed for EN, for the curious!

I found this exact question being asked in a Yahoo! Answers post back in 2020, and the one and only response was:

"There aren't any eel emojis, and those are marine animals in similar shapes."

That is one person's opinion, but there is certainly a lot to read into, if you'd like! ^^

There is art of both the twins being portrayed with jagged teeth, for example, not dissimilar to the teeth of shark and dolphins!

There is also Floyd being represented by a shark, the scarier-looking of the two animals.

Azul explains, however, "Floyd is actually the easier of the two to deal with on many levels, since his nature is far more obvious than Jade's."

Much like how dolphins can actually be far less pleasant than they appear at first glance, Azul explains that Jade is a "particular brand of devious. If you see him, do not provoke him. Do not make eye contact. Just back away slowly."

So while it is possible that the two emoji were adopted by necessity due to a lack of eel representation, the shark and dolphin motifs do seem to suit the twins very much! ^^ Visually similar while still being very different!

Trey says he likes hats and he owns multiple, so hats may be a regular part of his non-NRC wardrobe.

He says he would wear mascot-themed caps at theme parks at his little sister’s behest, but they are “definitely not (his) thing.”

He says he knows the he is supposed to “be buttoned up” in his dorm uniform and apologizes for his sloppy appearance, and says that the casual clothes of Vargas Camp are his exact style, though he prefers more muted colors.

Trey describes the “flair” of his New Year’s outfit as being “definitely a bit over the top for (him),” but, “I always feel at home wearing black.”

Trey does not enjoy the Stargazer outfit of the Wish Upon a Star uniform, saying, “Dancing in this getup is embarrassing.” When Deuce compliments him for looking great in it he responds, “Looking good is besides the point.”

Epel gives Trey a black cap with patches and embroidery for his birthday, saying, “I don't know about this bright red apple patch, though... Might be a little too loud for me.”

He explains, “I tend to dress casually when I'm not in my uniform.”

Maybe Trey normally wears Vargas Camp-adjacent clothes (in black and less vibrant colors) when outside the school?

Trey says he has been wearing glasses since elementary school and he has a lot of different pairs. He says, “(I) swap them out for style's sake or when the mood strikes me. It's kinda like changing your wardrobe, in a way. I mean, people call glasses ‘eyewear,’ right?”

Out of all the different glasses that he owns, Trey says that he gets the most compliments when he wears rounded Wellington or oval frames” and “Conversely, more quirky cat-eye or rimless frames don't tend to go over well.” Trey says he has tried half-rim glasses in the past but his mother and sister would complain about how they made him look angry, so he “decided to retire the half rims” in order to keep them from frowning at him every day.

Trey says that he has considered getting contacts, but decided not to after his sister said that he would “look sinister” without them.

Is sebek racist? Only a fun question, do not take seriously

Hello hello! Thank you so much for this question, I have been so excited to discuss Sebek's speech patterns since Book 7 reached EN~🥳

Silver says outright that Sebek can be prejudiced at times and Lilia states in the beginning of Book 7 that Sebek is the very picture of his grandfather, from the way he talks to the way he thinks.

We as the players do not realize how literally he means this comment until later in Book 7 when we meet Baul Zigvolt and realize that their speech patterns have a lot in common:

While maybe difficult to put across in the English-language adaptation of the game, Sebek has always spoken very old fashioned.

(Ace: "Okay grandpa, you gonna take her for a buggy ride next?")

He will occasionally say "this Sebek" in reference to himself, which Baul also does. (They are also both canonically quite loud, possibly another trait that Sebek adopted from Baul).

Sebek will also infamously refer to others using the 貴様 form of "you," which doesn't really exist outside of fiction and is such a rude form that it is practically a swear word. More here ->

Sebek uses it constantly, in everyday conversation.

And see Baul using it in Book 7 just all the time, with everyone except his superiors such as Lilia and Maleanor (there is even a time he becomes very angry and uses it with the senate).

Also like Baul, Sebek will switch to the extremely old-fashioned and formal "kiden" to refer to people who have impressed him. More here ->

Sebek's battle cry of "I'll swallow you whole" even seems to come from Baul!

And another thing Baul did in Book 7: refer to Sebek as human rather than by his name until Sebek earned his respect, which we have also seen happen between Sebek and Azul.

(In a Nightmare Before Christmas voiceline Sebek refers to Zero as a ghost and then a dog, eventually settling on his name, while he refers to Jack Skellington as "Bones." Is Sebek not just calling out humans, but referring to everyone by what they are rather than who they are?*)

(Does he simply yell human more than "dog," "ghost," etc., because humans are the species we have seen him interact with the most? It was confirmed in the novels that mermaids, beast-people, etc., are all referred to as "human" within the Twst universe, which has yet to be confirmed by the game but also has yet to be disproved.)

Sebek also refers to Grim as "dire beast."

There is a significant moment where he shifts to calling both Grim and the prefect by their names in Book 7, which the prefect even has the option of acknowledging aloud: "Whoa, you called me by my name?"

In a Harveston sub-plot Sebek even refuses to use an honorific with Epel's grandmother Marja until she proves herself worth of his respect.

Silver calls Sebek out on his inappropriate use of "kisama," while both Riddle and Sebek scold him for referring to people as "humans."

Whereas Epel's rude speech patterns can be explained by how it is a part of the dialect he was raised to speak and therefore he doesn't know any better (more here ->) Sebek is consciously and intentionally speaking down to others until they prove themselves worthy--is this something he learned from Baul?

Sebek says that Baul provided him with "an enriching education," but what exactly did that education entail?

Lilia expresses frustration with Sebek's inability to adapt to society, but canonically Sebek has only been outside of Briar Valley for 6 months, while he's been emulating his grandfather for 16 years.

Lilia says that Sebek has always been close to Baul and Jamil has a line of, "When admiration goes too far, the consequences can be dire."

I always assumed this was meant to be about Malleus, and while it still might be, is it also a reference to Sebek's devoted imitation of his beloved grandfather?

And we can go even deeper if we want, though this goes into theoretical territory:

Sebek was born after Briarland had already fallen to its invaders, but he was raised in a community where the war is still living memory.

Baul fought to protect his home against those who overran the land, exploited its resources, labeled him a monster, and drove them all into a fraction of their former territory.

He remembers what Briarland was before it the invasion, he fought to save it, he failed, and he survived to help put what was left of the country back together.

And then his daughter married someone who is potentially a direct descendent of the very invaders who had spent years killing anyone who looked like him and destroying everything he'd known (with even his native language possibly disappearing: Sebek says that speakers are "somewhat rare" in modern day, as the fae have generally adopted Common as their language of choice).

Sebek: "This has been weighing on me ever since we entered Lilia's dream. That my own father's distant ancestors may very well have been involved in all this too..."

And due to the long lifespans of the fae he isn't the only one with trauma and loss that feels both recent and personal.

Sebek and his siblings were not raised amongst the offspring of those who survived the war but the literal survivors themselves, unlike the humans to whom the wars are ancient history.

Sebek: "You must remember: from Lilia, Grandfather, and Malleus's perspectives...the Dawn Knight is not likely someone they consider to belong to the 'distant past.'"

While not confirmed in-game, it is not too wild to imagine that Sebek has chosen to ally himself with the survivors rather the invaders, and especially when he has been raised to idolize Malleus, whose own mother they killed not very long ago by fae standards.

While humans have been reproducing and dying at such a rapid pace that the current generation might not know that dragons are real, the same fae that managed to escape the slaughter are still there, and are now being met with the people born of those who stole their country but to whom there doesn't seem to be much significance to it all beyond a chapter in a history book.

And that might all be very well tied up in Sebek's use of "human"! (Disclaimer: this is all just a personal analysis and one of many possible explanations!)

Not only does it seem to be a speech pattern that Sebek has adopted directly from the grandfather he adores (and from Lilia and Malleus, who are also known to refer to non-fae as "humans" and whom he idolizes), but it may also be a reminder both to himself and to everyone around that while he may be two worlds in one, he does not approve of those that tore apart the community he grew up in, lest someone wrongfully assume that he agrees with the actions of his human ancestors.

Which would make it a form of self-preservation while growing up in a predominantly fae area.

Sebek's speech patterns and behaviors might be serving as a way for him to assert his loyalty to the fae, the people whom he admires, identifies with and was raised by, and distance himself from the humans who tried to eradicate them.

(If Sebek’s mother brought his father to Briar Valley from somewhere else (possibly Sunset Savanna) as has been implied, it’s possible Sebek’s human lineage isn’t tied to the invaders at all, but this is still vague.)

*Sebek refers to Sally as "Sally" throughout the Halloween event, using her name without an honorific but at least using it, much like he did with Marja. He also chastises Trey for failing to offer his hand to Sally and help her to her feet when she falls to the ground. Does Sebek possibly have a chivalrous side, not dissimilar to Leona? Memo: must check.

I am not sure this counts as "Cater lent Yuu his clothes" because we receive no confirmation that he actually followed up, and he actually says "our" dorm uniform, not "my" dorm uniform 📝

Cater is one of the flirtier characters and this very much sounds like something that Twst loves to do: put together a suggestive-sounding line that can sound like innuendo, but can also maybe not? But maybe so? But not really? But kind of? ww

This is possibly more common on JP than EN where lines like this are often rewritten, and especially for Cater! Even not counting his slang Cater is one of the most changed characters on EN: more here ->

A breakdown of the "Yuu" names until Book 3 was for some reason hidden in a theory post about the prefects maybe being in a coma 🧐

Here is that information pick up, with the addition of Yuuna and some interesting conversation that was discovered on JP side:

In the manga, all four prefects that we have seen thus far have had names connected to the afterlife:

・Heartslabyul Arc, Enma Yuuken (円満 雄剣): Enma's family name is pronounced the same (the kanji is different) as 閻魔 (Enma), the king of hell in Buddhism. From the Kyoto National Museum website: "The King of Buddhist Hell is Enma, who is also the judge of the afterlife."

・Savanaclaw Arc, Hirasaka Yuuka (比良坂 悠河): "Hirasaka" is written and pronounced the same as the hirasaka of Yomotsu-hira Saka, known as "The Entrance to the Underworld" in Shintoism, explained on Shimane Prefecture's official tourism website: "Yomotsu-hira Saka appears as the boundary between the land of the dead and the land of the living."

・Octavinelle Arc, Mito Yuuta (三途 宥太): "Mito" uses the same kanji as 三途川, the "River of Three Crossings," which is "a mythological river the souls of the deceased must cross by one of three crossing points." Credit to blogger Tansho for the discovery that "River Styx" was changed to 三途川 in the Japanese-language dub of the "Hercules" TV show.

・Scarabia Arc, Oujou Yuuna (逢生 結菜): Yuuna’s family name is pronounced the same (the kanji is different) as 往生 (oujou), a term in Japanese Buddhism for rebirth in the Pure Land. There is also 大往生 (dai-oujou), which means “peaceful death.”

While searching for additional theories I found a fascinating few ideas posted anonymously, translated below:

If you follow the names of the prefects backwards starting from Chapter 4, Oujou (death) → Mito (crossing the River Sanzu) → Hirasaka (going to the afterlife) → Enma (receiving judgment from Enma) It might be a bit of a stretch, but it kind of looks like there’s a connection there.

If it goes Enma’s judgment → Sanzu River → Rebirth, then it kind of feels like they’re moving from the afterlife back toward the world of the living. Not that it means anything in particular, it’s just a baseless theory, haha.

Now that I think about it, haven’t all the manga protagonists followed the same pattern so far? Enma, the kendo club captain, gets whisked away by a black horse while waiting for a bus. Hirasaka, likely a promising judo athlete, was taken while trying to rescue a kitten in the rain. Mito was delivering something for his family's store and got taken after trying to take a shortcut. So all of them seem to have been pulled into Twisted Wonderland while in the middle of pursuing something.

Adding to the comment above, Yuuna was taken by the carriage while on her way to Tokyo for a modeling audition, in pursuit of her dream 👀 Most interesting!

Trein's least favorite food is listed as the English-language "fried chicken"!

This is different from Azul's favorite food which is karaage, but localized as "fried chicken" for EN, despite being a different thing:

(This gets into cooking talk but karaage is a street food generally marinated in things like soy sauce, garlic, ginger, etc. and covered in potato starch and double fried, found sometimes in bento. Fried chicken is a different thing, fried in flour and more often found at western-style restaurants and convenient stores.)

And EN has struggled with the nuances of the food in profiles before!

Deuce's least favorite food, for example, is listed as "bell pepper" on EN, but that is not true.

His actual least favorite food is piman, which is thin and bitter and often disliked by children, and Deuce is the baby of NRC (not counting Ortho) ♠️

Bell peppers are thicker and sweeter and more often used in salads and western-style cooking.

This caused some misunderstandings on EN when Ace's Master Chef arrives and many EN players thought that Ace was cooking with Deuce's least favorite food, but he wasn't! They are different ♪

Another food miss on EN was changing Idia's favorite food of dagashi to sweets 🍬 While dagashi can be sweet they can also be savory, like crackers, which you would maybe not assume from EN's translation.

Another "close but not quite" food translation on EN was Malleus' favorite of "frozen treats," changed to the more specific "ice cream" for the English-speaking audience.

"Frozen treats" was translated accurately for EN during the New Year's event.

And food is not the only profile inconsistency on EN:

Both Leona and Jamil have 古代呪文語 listed as their best subject in their profiles on JP which EN wrote as "ancient magic," but that is not really what it is.

EN then changed this translation in Leona's second birthday vignette, where he receives a specialist book on 古代呪文語 from Malleus. In the vignette it was translated as "ancient incantations," which is more accurate!

And this happened again with Ace and Sebek's best subject of 魔法解析学. It is written as "enigmics" in their profiles but as "magic analysis" in the main story, with "magic analysis" being the more literal translation.

If you were wondering if "enigmics" and "magic analysis" were different classes at NRC, or "ancient magic" and "ancient incantations," the answer is no: they are the same :>

This gets into grammar rules-things, as how you refer to your parents when speaking in Japanese changes depending on who you are talking to.

When Vil is talking to Eric directly it seems he calls him "Dad," using the English-language word! ^^

He uses it in a sort of way as a nickname! It is a casual and affectionate way to refer to Eric, and also suits Vil's international, modern upbringing.

When speaking about Eric to other people, Vil uses the word 父 (chichi), which would probably be best as "father" in English? :>

Chichi is a humble way to refer to your own father in Japanese. He is not using the honorific "o" in front of it or "san" after it (ex: お父さん o-tou-san) because that is his own father: he is a member of Vil's team, and when representing your team to others you speak humbly.

In summary: you are very right that Vil speaks very casually about his father, and this seems to be by design!

Twst is possibly having Vil refer to his father as the English-language word "dad" to emphasize their closeness ^^ (and there is at least one voiceline where he uses "dad" when speaking about Eric with the prefect, as though it was a slip in his usual polite speech while he was looking back on a moment with Eric from his childhood with fondness ♪)

forgive me if anyone has asked this before, but do they say in the light novel or anywhere else what the "normal" humans are called? since i believe i remember beastfolk and merfolk are under the human umbrella according to light novel ace? i've been wondering if there is a name for them since it feels odd to call them "human" when everyone apparently is XD

As of this post I do not think there has been a word introduced in novel, game or manga canon to differentiate between mermaids, beastpeople and humans like Ace! :>
