A TYLER X READER ONE SHOT “Just another work day”
I originally wrote this to be a one shot but let me know if you like it, maybe I’ll write more parts!
You stood in front of the door to the dressing room, a bottle of water in one hand and your clipboard in the other. You’d worked enough shows at this venue to know how to handle artists, but you still couldn’t shake the nervous energy that came with meeting them for the first time. Today, it was Twenty One Pilots. A name you recognized instantly. You’d listened to their music countless times, though you’d never admit that out loud. Professionalism first, always.
You knocked on the door, your knuckles sharp against the wood.
“Come in!” A voice called, slightly muffled but distinct.
Pushing the door open, you stepped inside and were immediately met with the sight of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun sitting on the small couch, both mid-conversation. They looked up simultaneously, and you caught yourself pausing for a split second.
“Hi,” you began, steadying your voice. “I’m (Y/N), your artist liaison for tonight. I’m here to make sure you guys have everything you need and that things run smoothly. If there’s anything you want or require, just let me know.”
Tyler’s gaze lingered on you for a moment, his eyes sharp and assessing. He leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees. “Well, (Y/N),” he started, his tone laced with a subtle sarcasm that made you question if he was serious or not, “I was thinking we could use a gourmet meal, a new couch this one isn’t great, and, oh, maybe a golden retriever to keep us company.”
You blinked at him, caught off guard by the laundry list of ridiculous requests. Josh hid a smile, his eyes darting between you and Tyler.
“Right,” you said, tilting your head slightly, refusing to be intimidated. “Well, if those things were so important to you, they should’ve been included on the rider you submitted weeks ago. Guess you’ll have to make do with what we’ve got here.”
Tyler’s eyebrows raised, his lips parting slightly as if surprised by your response. Josh let out a small laugh, shaking his head. “Sorry about him,” he said, his voice warm and friendly. “He’s just messing around.”
“I figured,” you replied with a small smile, though your focus was still on Tyler. He hadn’t said anything yet, just stared at you in a way that made your stomach flip. His serious expression softened slightly, and then, out of nowhere, he grinned.
“Huh,” Tyler said, leaning back against the couch. “If you don’t get my humor, we’ll probably never make a good team.”
For a moment, the room was quiet, save for the faint sounds of the crew moving around outside the door. You raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of your lips. “Sorry, I guess I’m not great at liking middle school humor.”
Josh let out a louder laugh this time, and even Tyler chuckled, shaking his head. “I like this girl,” Tyler said, glancing at Josh but making sure you heard him.
You couldn’t help but laugh now, the tension breaking. “Well,” you said, trying to keep the mood light, “I’ll see if I can make some calls and get that golden retriever for you.”
Tyler grinned, his head tilting slightly as he looked at you. “Don’t worry about it, sweetie,” he said smoothly, his tone playful but warm. “All we really need is some water.”
Your cheeks warmed slightly at the nickname, but you kept your composure. “Water, I can do,” you replied, giving him a pointed look before turning to leave the room.
As you reached the door, you heard Tyler call out behind you, “Hey, (Y/N)!”
You glanced over your shoulder, your heart skipping a beat when you saw him watching you with that same faint smile.
“You’re fun,” he said simply, before leaning back on the couch like he hadn’t just made your stomach flutter.
You walked out of the room with a small smile of your own, already counting down the minutes until you had an excuse to go back in.
Balancing the tray with two bottles of water, you made your way back to the dressing room. When you pushed the door open, you noticed Josh was gone. Only Tyler remained, sitting cross-legged on the couch, tapping his fingers rhythmically on the armrest.
“Where’s Josh?” you asked, stepping inside and placing the tray on the table.
“He’s out getting that golden retriever i asked for” Tyler said.
You paused, raising an eyebrow. “You’re kidding, right?”
Tyler straightened up slightly, tilting his head as if contemplating your question. “Well…” He dragged the word out dramatically. “This was actually a joke I thought about earlier. Like, what if I said we needed a golden retriever, but then it turned out Josh’s dog actually is a golden retriever? You’d be all surprised, like, ‘Wait, is this a joke or not?’ But now the joke’s kind of ruined because I’ve explained it, and-” He cut himself off midsentence, pressing his lips together and shaking his head. “Never mind. I talk too much. Don’t mind me.”
You couldn’t stop the laugh that escaped your lips. Tyler was rambling in a way that was so unreasonably serious it became funny.
He noticed your laugh and narrowed his eyes, though the corners of his mouth twitched like he was trying not to smile. “What’s so funny?”
“You,” you said simply, meeting his gaze. “You’re impossible to deal with.”
His smile broke through then, soft but confident. “Yeah, but you like me anyway.”
You blinked, taken aback by his boldness. “I don’t think I ever said that.”
“You didn’t have to,” he shot back without hesitation, leaning forward slightly.
You shook your head, trying to suppress the warmth creeping up your neck. “Confident much?”
“Not confident. Observant,” he said, his tone teasing but laced with something more genuine. He let the words linger for a moment before standing up and moving closer to you, just enough to make your heart skip a beat.
Before you could respond, he added, “And since we’re being honest, I know you’re a fan.”
Your breath hitched slightly, and your eyes widened. “Excuse me?”
He smirked, clearly enjoying your reaction. “Come on. I saw it the second you walked in. The way you froze for a millisecond when you saw us, the little smile you tried to hide when you said hi, it’s okay. You don’t have to pretend.”
You folded your arms, determined not to let him see how flustered you felt. “Wow, you really think you know everything, don’t you?”
“Not everything,” he said, his voice softening, though his eyes stayed locked on yours. “Just enough to know when someone’s trying really hard not to like me.”
For a moment, you were at a loss for words. He was so relentless, so sure of himself, and yet there was something almost endearing about it.
“Well,” you said finally, a playful smile tugging at your lips. “Maybe I am a fan. But if you think that means I’m going to let you get away with everything, you’re wrong.”
Tyler grinned, clearly enjoying the challenge. “I wouldn’t expect anything less.”
Just as the tension between you seemed to reach its peak, the door swung open, and Josh walked back in, holding a bottle of orange juice.
“What’d I miss?” he asked, looking between you and Tyler, who quickly took a step back, his expression the picture of innocence.
“Not much,” Tyler said casually, though you could see the flicker of mischief in his eyes as he glanced at you.
You rolled your eyes, grabbing your clipboard and making a mental note to get through the rest of the night without letting Tyler Joseph completely disarm you again. Though, judging by the smirk on his face, you weren’t sure that was possible.
[ some time later ]
The faint vibrations of the crowd’s energy seeped through the walls as you stood near the backstage area, double checking your clipboard. The show was minutes away, and everything seemed to be running smoothly. You were just about to step away when Tyler appeared, walking toward you with a relaxed yet purposeful stride.
“Hey,” he called out, holding an empty water bottle in one hand. “Do you have a second?”
“Of course,” you replied, straightening up as he stopped a few feet in front of you.
“I just realized I finished my water, and I might need some for the show. You think you can help me out?” he asked, though the way his lips twitched suggested he had more on his mind than hydration.
“Sure,” you said, setting your clipboard down and handing him a fresh bottle from the side table. “Anything else?”
He twisted the cap off and took a sip, his eyes never leaving yours. Then, as casually as if he were commenting on the weather, he asked, “What about you? Do you need anything?”
You blinked, caught off guard. “Huh? What do you mean?”
Tyler’s lips curled into a faint smile, one that was just a little too knowing. “I don’t know,” he said with a shrug, his voice lower now, almost teasing. “After the show, we won’t see each other again, right? So I thought… maybe you needed something from me.”
Your breath hitched slightly, and you froze, caught somewhere between confusion and anticipation. “Uh, I… I don’t know,” you stammered, feeling your cheeks heat up under his steady gaze.
Tyler raised an eyebrow, leaning just a fraction closer. “Come on,” he said softly, his tone playful but probing. “You definitely do know.”
A nervous laugh escaped you, and you finally admitted, “Maybe… a hug?”
He chuckled, the sound deep and warm as he straightened up again. “A hug?” he repeated, shaking his head in mock disbelief. “I was thinking you’d want my number, but a hug will do.”
Your eyes widened, your heart leaping into your throat. “Oh, shit! No, wait, I want your number! Of course I want your number!”
Tyler laughed outright now, a genuine, full laugh that made you feel flustered.
But then, just as the stage manager signaled that it was time for him to head out, he stepped forward and pulled you into a hug. Not a quick, polite one, this was firm, warm, and lingering just long enough to leave you breathless.
As he pulled back, his lips brushed near your ear. “Too late, pretty girl,” he murmured with a grin.
Before you could react, he was already stepping away, bottle in hand, walking toward the stage where Josh was waiting. He turned around one last time, flashed you a mischievous smile, and disappeared into the lights as the crowd erupted in cheers.
You stood there, stunned, your heart pounding as the realization hit: your shift was over, the show was starting, and Tyler Joseph had just walked out of your life without leaving his number.
But as you grabbed your clipboard and headed out, you couldn’t help but smile. Something told you this wasn’t the last you’d hear from him.

Secretly
tyler joseph x reader
Word count: 1388
Genre: angsty-ish, some fluff
You knew who he was but desperately needed a place to live so when you saw his application for roommates, you pushed aside your fangirling and applied
You agreed to meet him in person so he could see what you were like for real and he really liked your personality
He let you move in the following week, agreeing to split the costs evenly
You had a TON of tøp merch and posters and had to hide them in a box so he wouldn't ever see them
You even had a tattoo of the bands symbol on your body but always covered it up
Tyler and you became really really close, that's when you started to develop feelings for him
He was always so nice and kind, you had tried going on dates with guys and whenever it ended up badly, he would immediately come to get you if he needed, and give you a ‘better date’ as he called it
He never really showed interest in you as a girlfriend but you were falling faster and faster with every day
One night, after a particularly bad date, he picked you up from the persons house and took you home, making you put on the matching pjs you got for Christmas from Josh and out on your favorite movie
“I don’t know why you keep going out with these, pardon my language, douchebags all the time. They never end up treating you right and you deserve to be treated like a princess.” He gave you a big hug and rocked back and forth.
He cared about you so much more than you knew. If it were his choice, he’d make sure you never looked at another guy ever again, only him. He wanted you to be his, but did not want to push you into the spotlight of being his girlfriend to the public
Tyler was under the assumption that you didn't know about his band / how famous he was
You sniffled and sighed “Ty… I think you should know something..” you started, nervous to tell him the secret you kept, “I know… about your band… I'm a fan actually.” you were so scared. Scared that he’d be mad, scared he’d tell you to pack your stuff and move out, scared that you would never see him again.
He silently stared at you, contemplating what to do next. He was angry that you never told him, he would have been okay with it. He didn't know if you’d put personal stuff on social media, or used him to gain clout amongst your peers. He didn't know how to feel.
He stood up and left. Left the apartment and drove to Josh’s place. He didn't want to talk to you right now after he had spent 6 months living with you. He knew it was stupid to be mad at you for being a fan, but he wished that for once, someone would want to be close to him just because. Not for his status, not for his fame or talents, just for being him. He felt used in a way
He explained everything to Josh, how he felt, what he wanted with you, what you were hiding. Everything. Josh told him to take some time to think and figure out what to do. So that's what he did.
You sat for what felt like forever on that couch, waiting for Tyler to come back. When you looked at the time, it was almost 3 in the morning so you decided he wasn’t coming home tonight and went to bed. Crying yourself to sleep.
When Tyler woke up, he had a terrible headache. He thought too much last night, it was almost 3 am when he finally fell asleep on Josh’s couch. He had come to a conclusion though. He was going to talk to you and hear your side.
His feelings were still there, they wouldn’t go away that easily, but he was hesitant. Scared that you were only his friend and roommate because of who he was.
You woke up to the front door closing and footsteps approaching your room. There was a light knock on the door and you opened your eyes to see Tyler standing in the doorway, still in his matching pjs.
“...Hi,” you whispered shakily, “I didn’t think you were ever coming back.” Your whole body was shaking. You didn’t know what he was going to say.
“I went to Josh’s to think… I need to ask you something first though.” You nodded, encouraging him to continue, “Did you accept the application because of who I am?” his hands were shaky as he held onto the foot of your bed frame.
You shook your head quickly, “No, I really needed to move out of my parents house, you know why, and you were the only person who accepted to meet me. I wanted to tell you but was scared that it would ruin my chance of having a place. I didn’t want to scare you away… I’m so sorry Tyler, I never meant to keep it from you, I just wanted to make sure you wouldn’t kick me out before I told you. I know its a shitty thing to do but… I was scared.” Tears started forming in your eyes as you looked up at him. It was true, you were going to tell him, you just didn’t know when.
He looked away and took a breath, letting what you said sink in, “I wouldn’t have kicked you out if you told me. I’m just hurt that you would hide such a big detail from me. I-I need you to promise me that you didn’t use me, or post anything personal about me on social media. I don’t want to just be your famous roommate. I want to be your friend.” He was scared of your answer.
“I promise Ty, I never told a soul that I live with you, not even my sister. I didn’t want to put your privacy in jeopardy.” It was true, you never told anyone, you respected him and his home that he so graciously opened to you.
Tyler let out a sigh of relief and glanced up at you, finally meeting your gaze.
You stared back at him and thought you might as well tell him everything. “I um.. I have a box of all of my twenty one pilots stuff hidden in my closet. I had to make sure you never saw it, or this,” You lifted the hem of your shirt to show the band symbol tattooed on your ribs with lyrics from one of their songs under it, “Your music helped me a lot through rough times and when I turned 18 I got this.” you lowered your shirt and waited for him to respond.
He smiled gently, “I’m glad we helped… Thank you for telling me. Thank you for not being  a crazy stalker.” he chuckled to himself.
“My pleasure,” you giggled lightly.
He swooned at the sound of it deciding that it’s now or never that he told you, “well… since we’re confessing things, I um, I like you. More than a roommate, more than a friend. I think I’m in love with you.”
Your eyes widened, you had been waiting to hear those words since the first time he saved you from a terrible date. You crawled toward the end of your bed and sat up so you were eye to eye with him. No words were said, you just leaned in and kissed him. Wrapping your arms around his neck as he held you by your waist, kissing you back. When you pulled away, you smiled, “I think I’m in love with you too Ty.”
He smiled back and pulled you into a hug, “how about we order some food and finish that movie?” You nodded, “No more bad dates for you.”
You smiled and you both walked to the living room to watch your movie, you couldn't have been happier. He was finally yours, you were finally his.
The smiles never left neither of your faces for the rest of the night.
Bonus: - Later that night, Josh had texted Tyler how it went and he told him how you confessed to one another his only response was “FINALLY!”

Secret Relationship - SAI!Josh x Fem!Joseph!Reader - Part 2
PART 1
Pairing: Josh Dun x Fem!Joseph!Reader - Tyler's younger sister
Warnings: None - fluffy
Word Count: 1526
Tumblr media
It had been a few weeks since Tyler found out about Josh and I. Things had slowly started to get easier and we were finally able to be together in front of those closest to us–not that it stopped Tyler from gagging every time we kissed each other good morning, goodnight, and good luck. We were nearing the end of The Takeover Tour with a few shows in Columbus along with Half Alive and Jay opening for the boys. It was a little surprise to me that Jay knew exactly what was going on between Josh and I. Apparently Josh had popped into frame on our phone calls a little too many times for it to not be ‘obvious’. The energy backstage was buzzing, everyone preparing for the long night ahead. Just as the boys were about to leave for the stage Josh suddenly turned around and strode purposefully back toward me. Before I could even get a word out, he grabbed my hand and pulled me into his chest, holding me tight for a moment. Then, in an impulsive, dramatic gesture, he pulled away, cupped my face in his hands, and kissed me deeply, right there in the middle of all the crew members, techs, and, from the corner of my eye, some fans who had managed to catch a glimpse from a restricted area. It was everything. His lips were soft and sure, and the world around us faded away in that moment. The only thing that mattered was him and the way he was letting the world see, in no uncertain terms, just how much he loved me. When we broke apart, I caught my breath and opened my eyes to see his signature goofy grin back on his face. “Good luck and have fun.” I smiled and squeezed his hand.
“I love you,” he whispered, but loud enough for those nearby to hear.
“Yes we all know!” Tyler shouted from the hallway, “We actually have to go now so if you two are done…” Josh chuckled, squeezing my hand back before leaving for the stage.
Once the two of them were out of sight, I made my way to the side stage with Jenna who was excited to finally be back home. The roar of the crowd sounded through the arena as the lights dimmed, signaling the start of the show. As the opening chords of Good Day rang out, I sat on the floor, watching the sea of lights and faces all focused on the boys. They were in their element, Tyler bouncing around as he sang while Josh drummed in time with the song. It was surreal watching him like this, knowing that even with thousands of people cheering him on, his heart was still mine. Midway through the set, during one of Tyler's usual breaks to talk to the crowd, he wandered over to Josh, grinning mischievously. Josh shot him a quick side-eye, clearly knowing that Tyler was up to something. The crowd quieted a little, hanging on Tyler's every word.
“So, I don’t know if you all have noticed, but there’s been something a little... different with Josh recently,” Tyler said, his voice laced with teasing. The crowd erupted in cheers and laughter, clearly excited to hear what Tyler had to say. Josh, still behind his drum kit, rolled his eyes playfully and shook his head, as if to say, Here we go.
“You see,” Tyler continued, leaning against the mic stand, “he's been kind of—” he paused dramatically, glancing at me backstage with a smirk, “distracted.” The fans screamed, catching onto the direction this was going. Josh, always a good sport, laughed and played along. The crowd laughed as Tyler gave him a playful shove, but there was a warmth in his eyes that showed he was genuinely happy for us. “Alright, alright,” Tyler laughed, taking the mic and grabbing his uke. “This one’s been requested so I guess we’ll play it. You’re welcome Josh.” He rolled his eyes before starting to play one of my favorite covers Tyler had ever done–Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis. God of course he’d set this up. First night back home and he’d already started wanting to show us off. The familiar melody drifted through the arena, sending a wave of emotion over me. Tyler’s voice was soft and sincere as he strummed his ukulele, and I could feel the collective heartbeat of the crowd shift from excitement to something deeper. The lights dimmed even more, leaving a soft glow around Tyler while Josh continued to drum softly in the background, his eyes flicking toward me every now and then.
I could see the emotion in his face—the way his smile tugged at the corners of his mouth, the way his eyes softened. It was a subtle reminder of just how much we meant to each other, even in moments where everything seemed so big, so loud, so overwhelming. I felt Jenna nudge me lightly and when I looked over, she had this knowing smile on her face.
“Josh is a keeper you know, he really loves you,” she whispered with a small laugh. I nodded, trying to suppress my own grin, but it was useless–and she was right. And now, with Tyler doing this, it felt like his way of letting the world into our little bubble. Maybe it was also his way of showing that, despite his relentless teasing, he was excited for us.
The song ended to an eruption of applause, but Tyler wasn’t finished. He turned toward the crowd again, a mischievous glint still in his eyes. “Josh Dun on the drums everybody!” The crowd roared, and Josh threw his drumsticks into the air, catching them with an exaggerated flourish that made everyone laugh. He took a mock bow from behind the kit, playing along with Tyler's bit.
“And,” Tyler added, lowering his voice in that dramatic way of his, “let’s give a round of applause for the real reason he’s been distracted lately.” His gaze shifted to me, and before I could react, the cameras panned toward me, displaying my face on the massive screens overhead. My heart raced as the crowd erupted again, cheering and clapping.
I covered my face in mock embarrassment, but Jenna was laughing beside me, nudging me again as if to say, You knew this was coming. The spotlight flickered toward the side stage where I was standing, and suddenly the whole arena felt like it was focusing on me. I smiled, biting my lip, half-embarrassed, half-overwhelmed by the sheer joy of it all.
Tyler, never missing a beat, winked in my direction. “Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for Josh Dun’s biggest distraction.” He paused as the audience cheered louder. “No, really, give it up for her—she's keeping him grounded. Or at least trying to.”
Josh, who had been chuckling the whole time, shook his head in embarrassment.
As the laughter and applause died down, the show carried on, but I couldn’t help the warmth that stayed with me. Tyler’s playful banter, Josh’s quiet support, and the overwhelming love I felt from both of them made everything feel so... right. This was home.
For the rest of the show, I stayed in that spot by the side stage, watching them perform, feeling proud and deeply content. They went through the rest of their setlist with the same energy they always brought, but there was something more electric tonight—like being back home had given them both an extra surge of life. Every beat, every chord hit harder, resonated deeper.
By the time the final encore came around, the crowd was relentless, refusing to let the night end. Tyler and Josh returned to the stage one last time, sweaty but grinning, and played their hearts out. The final notes of Trees echoed through the venue, the crowd chanting and clapping, their voices blending with Tyler’s as the song built to its climactic finish.
When it was over, Josh and Tyler stood side by side, taking in the moment. Tyler gave his usual speech about gratitude and love for the fans before the boys left the stage and house lights turned on. As the crowd began to disperse, I made my way backstage. Josh, still riding the high from the show, found me almost immediately, pulling me into a tight hug. His skin was warm, his heartbeat still racing from the adrenaline of performing.
“That was... something,” I said, my voice muffled against his chest.
He pulled back, his eyes sparkling with a mix of exhaustion and happiness. “I’m glad you liked it,” he beamed.
“You were amazing,” I replied, holding his warm hand as we walked back to their dressing room.
“You think so?” His voice was teasing, but there was a vulnerability behind his question.
I nodded. “Absolutely.”
Josh leaned down, kissing me softly, the noise of the crew packing up and the distant hum of the fans leaving blending into the background. In that moment, it was just the two of us again.
“Distracted or not,” he murmured against my lips, “I’m right where I want to be.”
