I hate how hes mainly seen as this evil angry guy or just grumpy (mad yk) and its like..Yuck..A lot of people just would rather only view triffany as this saint and wambus is this evil bad guy. Sure hes mad lookin but like..Thats like saying filbo is dumb when he isn't, sure hes an sweet hyperactive guy thats prone to accidents but he isn't dumb. Thats an grown fucking man y'all.

I loved how he missed triffany so fucking much, he made an cactus literally look like her and as well as would basically (even from the one or two moments we seen it in gameplay) tell cactriffy about his day. And Y'ALL. Cactriffy is literally just cactus + triffy,, which is the nickname he gave to triffany!! And at best, you can just see how much he loves triffany from that and so much more.

Triffany work requires her to be away a lot, which is understandable but her and wambus literally had an farm together and wambuses whole issue was property and money. Farms are extremely hard to take care of, especially even with just two people. Wambus is an stubborn guy, and he loves his wife. He probably took care of that farm all by himself while triffany was away. I understand if y'all don't understand how farm and ranches are, but they're just..So hard to take care of. Especially with how utilities and so much more costs.

(this is coming from someone who just knows someone an good few ppl who like..literally grew up on an farm 60/40% of their lives this just me blabberin about that yk so my bad if I don't get the whole picture right. But like..Farms/ranches are so HARD to take care of unless you know what to do and such!! Like farms cost around 600 - 10000+)

So just imagine with how that feels, especially with how we know wambus is so okay with triffany going off on her own dreams while he was kinda struggling with his. He started an farm on the island because it was "more cheaper on mainland" and hes right, even if everyone was kinda shitting on him about it. But thats like his dream, and so much more. I like to even think wambus came from an huge or generational line of farmers, ranchers, just country-side work basically. Which would also make so much more sense in an way to understand how Wambus would understand heavily and support his wife on her journey and job of being an archeologist while also trying to find out what happend to her mom. Im not gonna shit on triffany either, but like. You gotta understand how wambus feels, he probably (and I think he did!! Pretty sure he did) lost the farm. And like I said, I like to think the farm was an family farm that was past down onto him. And he lost it.

I know triffany would try to console her husband, but she also now had to be this bread winner because of wambus losing this huge money maker but then just also caving underneath it due to all these taxes and so much more, that the list is just too much. Plus they're both workaholics so she probably never stayed long to console him or help him, only when she had to stay in an way she would or try to.

He most likely has emotional dysregulation which is caused by stress!! And he just WENT through an stressful time period of his life!! Also fear of failure. That can and is implied to be most reasons WHYYY he lashes out and hes always regretful of his actions by the way. Like when filbo got launched by an bunger due to his causing by throwing sauce at him,, and he was literally so regretful of it. Even asked the journalist to PLEASE check up on poor filbo.

Not to mention, probably due to his failure fears present and past, is kinda why people can see how triffany and wambus dynamic is 50/50 of great and needs some work.

But even then, triffany doesn't mean it. Shes looking out for wambus best interests, especially with how she knows wambus hates failure and hates failing so badly. Especially with how.hes gonna lash out, and view it as anything more than bugsnax not growing. He just lost his farm, something he worked so hard on. And now hes losing his little thesis of bugsnax growing..

And he did. He was so heart broken, and his voice you can just TELL this mans heart shattered into billions of peaces. Even if he has an not so hyperactive and has monotone tone in his voice, you can just..Still tell hes heart broken. He started giving up on HIMSELF, and hes STUBBORN Y'ALL.

I like to think he also was made fun of for his feelings back then. Especially cause of like..Of grumpus world is like our world, him as an man would've been definitely made fun of for crying. Especially if this is..Something so heavy and meaningful to him,, he was definitely sobbing and pouring his heart out but only to be made fun of. Or had his problems seen as something so little..

And triffany *may* had accidentally had some help in it in an way, since she worked so much due to being an workalcoholic and its her passion. She loves archeology and wambus could never ever in an million years deny his wife of her happiness like she could never deny wambus his. Even though, that ended up with them fighting. Especially wambus putting his foot down on not wanting to be somewhere he can't grow plants other than cacti. Especially if he was so hyperfocused on sauce plants, and only ones that grow there are hot sauce or cheese,, but we seen wambus grow an wide variety. He wouldn't really wanna just only ever be able to grow two types of sauce plants.

Also just supperr self indulgent,, I like to think he has one or two actual degrees in some sort of botany or farm work..Plus hess ermm Audhd cause I said so. Sorry NOT sorry. <3

-> Knows spanish, especially cause he lived in an heavy spanish speaking area.

-> He LOVES dogs and cats. He had an hunting dog when he was little, also talks about that dog a lot. Her name was brownie .. Had an barn cat or two, both were name Charolette and Scarlett.. :3

-> Was held back an grade or two, only because of how he worked more than was in school. But he isn't dumb, hes slicker than a fox.

any headcanon for the likeable æsir trio… (Tyr, Freyr, Freyja, Heimdallr and Thor)

I love them with all my heart ALSO THANKS FOR THE ASKS :D

-Sometimes they walk around Asgard or Alfheim to talk but Freyja and Freyr walk very fast so Thor, Tyr, and Heimdall have to run a little to catch up with them (tho most of the time Freyr and Freyja slows down for them)

-They have to plan meeting up 2 days ahead bc their schedules are shit, Heimdall is too busy doing guard duty (They drag him) sometimes Tyr and Freyja gets flanked with missions, only Freyr and Thor are free to hang out everyday

-During winter when they hang out Thor brings extra clothes in case they get cold especially Heimdall who Thor just brings a whole blankets for (Some of the clothes are borrowed from Tyr’s parents)

-Freyja sometimes picks out the groups outfits when they want her to go wild since she really like fashion and she ends up having a lot fun with it

-Freyr is horrendously clumsy in the worst moments so everyone is just cautious when he’s around dangerous spots like they know he’ll be fine but they rather not have a Freyr flying off the cliff or sinking into water.

-sometimes during winter when Freyr is just out of it they all just hang out at his palace both so they can have fun and lift his moods and so they know he’s ok and eating well

-They always end up in a sleep pile literally using Thor as their mattress (not that he cares)

-When they get food and sit somewhere to eat they will switch around with their food basically sharing sometimes they even have contest on who can get the best meal of the day

my norse myth knowledge isn’t in any way comprehensive, but i don’t think tyr loses his hand to protect anyone? it just gets bit off by fenrir while they’re attempting to restrain him, right? not quite the same emotional context there.

and iirc, og romance dawn shanks doesn’t even lose his arm! that was a change oda made to his story when writing one piece. so, if the original story with shanks didn’t involve him losing his arm, the basis for shanks probably didn’t either.

Ohhh, I absolutely have to use this one to drag Tyr a little /affectionate.

Because I don't think Tyr would say he has a type - physically, at least. And I, for the longest time, also wouldn't have accused him of such things, but there is definitely a kind of hilarious wrench in that idea that one of my friends pointed out once in our blorbo shipping enterprise /lh, and frankly if I don't give Tyr shit for at least quarterly, like... c'mon. The guy's really good at a lot of things. I gotta take the silly passes that I can on the guy to keep him humble, lmao.

Because if I put Shara Jenn, Alucren Ellery, Jonas Balkar, and say... at least two of my friend's (@shadowsofdread) blorbos on a line, namely Hyroh and Taizi... And I mean. coughs. Cecil. Sorry, Taizi.

Ya might notice that this is a crowd with dark hair. /lh. And also that Tyr has apparently inherited my weakness for beautiful eye colors. Oops.

And, y'know, I can't give the guy too much shit for it. Because he's certainly got taste. 😔 And if I stretch the definition from that crowd mostly being black hair, arguably a lot of the people I'd consider on this man's partner list fall under 'darker' hair colors more broadly.

And there is also arguably that time he flirted with Leo in a cantina once, even if it was just to convince the guy to go home and sleep off being clearly intoxicated so someone didn't steal his rent's worth of credits more than to actually do anything with the guy. Chivalry isn't entirely dead etc etc.

But really I think it's just kind of a hilarious accident. Specifically still a hilarious one, for sure. Tyr's not really a guy to be looking for something based on physical attraction alone - because his heart's got a habit of just kind of leaking out of him even when he's not actively consciously choosing to lead with it. I mean, I could also tease him that he's got a weak spot for anyone that's also in the intelligence business or kind of an adjacent role. No matter how bad for his own interest it could possibly be, Tyr kinda can't help but stick his nose in that one with the kind of curiosity to test how alike or different in views they might be - because he can't live with just standing by and not offering a hand to help someone that might just need a reminder they're not alone in these systems that don't quite have places for people in... his kind of work.

So, generally, I... don't think he's surprised necessarily by the kind of people he ends up feeling... drawn to. I mean, to an extent he is, and he isn't. Hyroh's a Jedi, which is perhaps the galaxy's idea of an unlikely pair when you look at the two of them, and Taizi's a Sith - and arguably a quite prominent one, at least for a time, and Tyr's had a lifetime of mistrusting the bastards (generalized), so... in those ways? It's just been... unlikely.

But if there's any surprise, it's short-lived, replaced quickly by curiosity. Few and far between, generally, are the people that pause long enough to ask him who are you? to mean something more than... Cipher Nine. And Nine's a convenient answer for most of his life - one he goes back to and keeps pieces of even to this day, even with many of the people he's close to, because Nine's familiar. Nine has his uses still, even to Tyr.

He's lucky enough that largely, he seems to have been a pretty sound judge of character thus far on who to let get close and stay in his life. There's an AU or two here or there that we don't heavily work with where sometimes Tyr gets his hesitance to be involved with someone like a Sith Lord proven right, and Tyr will choose leaving rather than entirely breaking himself and his ideals just to stay with someone who can't respect when he sets boundaries at those ideals. And that's just a tiny bit of a shame, because I don't often otherwise really articulate that Tyr is someone that will leave, even though he's loyal enough that he's shattered bone and hollowed out his marrow to protect others. He's got a lot of heart, and he's willing to put a lot into someone when they give him a safe place to slough off some of his burdens for a while, but... he's still someone who can't tolerate if that's at the cost of others - if that has collateral damage. If the grip becomes hurtful instead of protective.

Tyr's someone who... everyone he's ever respected or loved..? They've hurt him, somehow. Some of them in ways that a lot of people might consider unforgivable, that Tyr stuck through anyway. That didn't make Tyr change his opinion of them, really. So, it's... that alone doesn't make anything particularly special. But there's still a line of intent there. Usually, people who cross it meaningfully, with the intent to leave scars... They don't last very long, or at least Tyr doesn't stick around to see it.

oh, tyr anon, hi! welcome back!

i continue to not have any real solid understanding of norse mythology, nor much interest in gaining that kind of understanding, so i can't speak with any authority here. i know about as much about tyr as anyone can gain from a ten minute wikipedia investigation. (my usual disclaimer, lol.)

i would say... maybe? i still don't think shanks was based on tyr, but as oda expanded the story and developed his characters beyond the original scope, it makes sense that he'd borrow from all sorts of piratical cultures.

as you say, we have gotten a lot of new information about shanks since last june, and that info doesn't not lend itself to this tyr comparison. the timing of the lore drop being a very viking/scandinavia-influenced arc, shamrock's wolfy sword... if in the end shanks and shamrock die fighting each other, tyr wouldn't be the only mythical guy that'd make me think of, but he would be on the list.
