@aspirationatwork requested an image description of this so as the person who drew it i'll give that a shot.
ID A fan drawing of Lars Barriga and Sadie Miller from the television show Steven Universe. The sketch lines are dark blue, the background is very light grey. The characters are depicted from the waist up (Lars is much taller than Sadie) and the chest up. Their clothing is reminiscent of their work uniforms for The Big Donut. Sadie's hair is done up in a rare bun shape held by a scrunchie. Both characters are facing right, Sadie turned away from Lars entirely. Lars has one shaking open hand reaching toward her. Lars' expression is tense, sweat forming at his brow, his pupils shrunk, eyebrows creased. Sadie's mouth is fixed at a low, tight frown, her eyes half-closed, looking seemingly far into the distance. End ID
it's like i've been here before
#ube rebloggie#larsadie#ID request#i don't do these often and while i did refresh myself with some guides i'm super open to criticism about where i over-do/under-do the descs#also if the format needs work plz let me know about that too#a lot of the guides i saw said that brackets/parentheses weren't necessary#same for colons and forward slashes#but if that's more the norm/more helpful specifically here on tumblr i can edit that so just gimme a shout! <3

AI will never “solve” climate change. Even if OpenAI successfully builds an AGI tomorrow, it will never, under any circumstances, produce any kind of magic bullet that will “fix” the climate crisis. Look, this is not that hard. Even without AGI, we already know what we have to do. We do not need a complex and all-knowing artificial intelligence to understand that we generate too many carbon emissions with our cars, power plants, buildings, and factories, and we need to use less fossil fuels and more renewable energy. The tricky part—the only part that matters in this rather crucial decade for climate action—is implementation. As impressive as GPT technology or the most state of the art diffusion models may be, they will never, god willing, “solve” the problem of generating what is actually necessary to address climate change: Political will. Political will to break the corporate power that has a stranglehold on energy production, to reorganize our infrastructure and economies accordingly, to push out oil and gas. Even if an AGI came up with a flawless blueprint for building cheap nuclear fusion plants—pure science fiction—who among us thinks that oil and gas companies would readily relinquish their wealth and power and control over the current energy infrastructure? Even that would be a struggle, and AGI’s not going to doing anything like that anytime soon, if at all. Which is why the “AI will solve climate change” thinking is not merely foolish but dangerous—it’s another means of persuading otherwise smart people that immediate action isn’t necessary, that technological advancements are a trump card, that an all hands on deck effort to slash emissions and transition to proven renewable technologies isn’t necessary right now. It’s techno-utopianism of the worst kind; the kind that saps the will to act.
[...]
The idea that AI can “solve climate change” is what the critic Lewis Mumford would have called a magnificent bribe—a lofty promise or function that encourages us to adopt a tech product despite its otherwise obvious harmful costs. It is of AI’s greatest predicted benefits, to help us overlook its proven harms, to paraphrase Dan McQuillan. Because right now, on net, it’s clear that AI is only adding to our already significant carbon burden.

somewhere out there, A's eye just started twitching
lol i am so sorry to a du mortain but let’s take a look here … an mc who chose a as their handler + a is their bff

look at these grand promises! a would march right back in and make ostin explain everything to their liking! a doesn’t have issue using their position to help their very best friend

in this situation, there is a suggestion not from the mc’s romantic partner, n, but also a’s actual best friend, n. now the stakes are even higher to look into this issue with ostin
now, one can argue that the mc may have put too much stock and hope and trust into a. but seeing what all they’ve gone through … well, lol … it’d make sense to feel as though they’d look into this situation
… fast forward to a dead ostin, blasted forest, an mc infused with solar magic who has already hurt their romantic partner, and a boss boss slash mc’s mother with severely burnt hands …

and they didn’t even look into it! maybe they should be worried about become unit charlie … or unit mike … guess it’ll depend! 😤
and hopefully they’ll actually trust the mc’s instincts next time - the mc has proven themselves time and again!
(this is all said with love - i love you ub, even if you didn’t trust their instincts. even if adam didn’t trust suri’s instincts which stings a bit!)
#thank you for getting me to play the demo again!#i have been craving that sewell romance and there are some really beautiful moments in b4#really sexy moments too bless them#also! i was able to get unit victor just by randomizing#that was FUN#lol anyway!#adam how did you actually not trust suri’s instincts! she’s never been wrong#but again too much trust in the agency she will expose them mark my words#thank you for the ask! happy to see you friend#the wayhaven chronicles#a du mortain#twc book 4

A funny idea while Vergil and Trainer are out on a job too slay demons at a construction site, they all notice in the distance something slashing giants demons away with ease. Both prepare for a powerful demon too make there appearance when something small zooms by and quickly slices and dices all the remaining. That's when they both notice what slayed all the demons, a very small creature that looks like origami. Vergil is still on guard until Trainer calls out the name of the creature immediately recognizing it. The Drawn Sword Pokemon Kartana who floats over too Trainer happy too see their friend again.
Vergil is of course curious and so is Kartana, Trainer decides that maybe a full explanation is best told back at DMC because Kartana is not gonna be leaving this time
UB Blade has appeared! I can imagine those larger demons laughing at the tiny newcomer only for Kartana to easily eviscerate them. Best for Trainer to give everyone a heads up about the Ultra Beasts since if one visits then others are sure to come.

Why did he let Noisler go tho? Wouldnt it just eventually return?
Dont think his Exa Slash can draw it away far enough for it not to just eventually return again since iirc even UB level ultras cant achieve this feat, much less an NG base level Arc

Yesterday I realised that both my favourite Ultra Beast (Buzzwole) and my favourite Paradox Pokémon (Iron Leaves, although Walking Wake is a close second) have a clear counterpart that even the TCG struggles to deny or swap around so I was thinking “who would win? Buzzwole and Pheromosa vs Wake and Leaves?”. I’ve woken up thinking about that and I think it would be a victory for the Ultra Beasts here because both of them are part Bug, the type that Leaves has a double weakness to. Plus I realised that Buzzwole is likely to have extremely high Attack, which is good for making use of Leaves’s weaker defensive stat. Once Buzzwole and Pheromosa have taken Leaves out, whoever landed the finishing attack will then have Beast Boost activate just to make it easier to beat the shit out of Wake. I have actually checked on Bulbapedia and the one thing that could save Wake and Leaves is Pheromosa’s poor defensive stats (that cockroach is frail as fuck) so hopefully if Leaves manages to survive the first attack (because Pheromosa is definitely outspeeding it and Wake), it and Wake could work together to take out Pheromosa meaning one less bug that Leaves has to worry about. Buzzwole also has poor Special Defense so Wake can exploit that. Also if Leaves survives the first attack from Pheromosa it can probably exploit one of the UB’s weaknesses to Psychic, although it might have to waste a turn (and risk fainting from two other doubly supereffective Bug-type moves, by which point it’s definitely unconscious or the robot equivalent) setting up Electric Terrain if it really wants to make the most of its one offensive Psychic-type move (seriously though Game Freak? No Psycho Cut? No Zen Headbutt? Why does its non-Psychic, mixed attacker modern-day counterpart Virizion get Zen Headbutt but Leaves, a clearly physical Psychic-type not get it? At least Boulder and Crown get both moves. I still think Leaves should get Heart Stamp if it ever returns does it make sense? Probably not. Do I think Leaves is cute enough to use the move? Yes) although if it’s double weaknesses we’re trying to exploit here, while both Paradox Pokémon are gonna have to rely on TMs for this, Wake can learn Hurricane (that’s gonna involve some setup if you want to guarantee a hit so if you want to save Leaves’s arse, you might not want to (exclusively) rely on this) and Leaves can learn Aerial Ace and Air Slash (admittedly not recommended because Leaves isn’t a special fighter) *mosquito and cockroach screams while Wake and Leaves just start flying with glowing red eyes or something*
#walking wake#iron leaves#buzzwole#pheromosa#pokémon#moment Wake and Leaves pull out the Flying-type moves Pheromosa’s out#and Buzzwole isn’t much better off if Hurricane is successful

@0047silver's funny y2k guys and which pokémon they would be
realizing i forgot most of the robot's serial numbers, i decided to use codenames for everyone. have fun guessing who is who (i think it's obvious)
Izutsumi the Original - Espurr, the Restraint Pokémon (Psychic) X: The organ that emits its intense psychic power is sheltered by its ears to keep power from leaking out. Y: It has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power.
Invader Zin - I'm not sure, actually. Dewott, the Discipline Pokémon? (Water) Black: Strict training is how it learns its flowing double-scalchop technique. White: Scalchop techniques differ from one Dewott to another. It never neglects maintaining its scalchops. B2W2: As a result of strict training, each Dewott learns different forms for using the scalchops.
Bob the Builder - Gurdurr, the Muscular Pokémon (Fighting) Black: This Pokémon is so muscular and strongly built that even a group of wrestlers could not make it budge an inch. White: They strengthen their bodies by carrying steel beams. They show off their big muscles to their friends. B2W2: With strengthened bodies, they skillfully wield steel beams to take down buildings.
Hetero Jessica - Nihilego, the Parasite Pokémon (Rock / Poison) Sun: One of several mysterious Ultra Beasts. People on the street report observing those infested by it suddenly becoming violent. Moon: One of the Ultra Beasts. It's unclear whether or not this Pokémon is sentient, but sometimes it can be observed behaving like a young girl. Ultra Sun: A life-form from another world, it was dubbed a UB and is thought to produce a strong neurotoxin. Ultra Moon: It appeared in this world from an Ultra Wormhole. Nihilego appears to be a parasite that lives by feeding on people and Pokémon.
Average Malice Mizer Fan - Ampharos, the Light Pokémon or Luxray, the Gleam Eyes Pokémon (both Electric) Ampharos Gold: The tail's tip shines brightly and can be seen from far away. It acts as a beacon for lost people. Silver: The bright light on its tail can be seen far away. It has been treasured since ancient times as a beacon. Crystal: When it gets dark, the light from its bright, shiny tail can be seen from far away on the ocean's surface.
Luxray Diamond: It has eyes that can see through anything. It spots and captures prey hiding behind objects. Pearl: When its eyes gleam gold, it can spot hiding prey-- even those taking shelter behind a wall. Platinum: It can see clearly through walls to track down its prey and seek its lost young. HGSS: Luxray's ability to see through objects comes in handy when it's scouting for danger.
Spamton S. Spamton (The S stands for S-hole) - He's a Team Rocket Grunt, actually. They will do anything for money. According to them, all Pokémon in the world are theirs to use as they please, always for a profit.
Atheist Mantis - Lurantis, the Bloom Sickle Pokémon (Grass) Sun: It requires a lot of effort to maintain Lurantis's vivid coloring, but some collectors enjoy this work and treat it as their hobby. Moon: It fires beams from its sickle-shaped petals. These beams are powerful enough to cleave through thick metal plates. Ultra Sun: For self-protection, it pretends to be a bug Pokémon. Both of its arms bear keen-edged petals. Ultra Moon: As it slashes into its enemies, it looks like it's dancing. Its elegant appearance has led some to call it the most glamorous Grass Pokémon.
It's Short for Cakes - Scizor, the Pincer / Scissors Pokémon (Bug / Steel) Gold: It swings its eye-patterned pincers up to scare its foes. This makes it look like it has three heads. Silver: Its wings are not used for flying. They are flapped at high speed to adjust its body temperature. Crystal: This Pokémon's pincers, which contain steel, can crush any hard object it gets a hold of into bits.
Chao Tribute AMV Break Stuff - Poipole, the Poison Pin Pokémon (Poison) or Rotom, the Plasma Pokémon (Electric) Poipole Ultra Sun: This Ultra Beast is well enough liked to be chosen as a first partner in its own world. Ultra Moon: An Ultra Beast that lives in a different world, it cackles wildly as it sprays its opponents with poison from the needles on its head.
Rotom D&P: Its body is composed of plasma. It is known to infiltrate electronic devices and wreak havoc. Platinum: Its electric-like body can enter some kinds of machines and take control in order to make mischief. HGSS: Research continues on this Pokémon, which could be the power source of a unique motor.

— day 02. of @windbrook's slashed challenge. the jock.
"i'm scared to close my eyes. i'm scared to open them!"
he never even heard it coming. the boo bash was one of the most legendary parties foxbury greek life had to offer, and gavin was in desperate need of a night to let loose before the pressure of the big game against UB really started mounting. maybe if he hadn't been so focused on getting lily alone, he would have noticed the carvings on the trees, or seen the strange prints in the damp, mossy ground. then again, maybe not. attention to detail had never been his strong suit. and in the end, the details got him killed.

The Trader Joe's ube mochi pancake mix!! Perfect for cheering up your grieving best friend slash future husband!!
So, the real-life background on this is, I actually did buy four or five boxes off ebay for a friend who's GF and didn't know they were limited time only and was sad they'd disappeared off the shelves, and I did get her some as a gift but I also kept one for myself and used it in a fic. She does not know this fact :)
Now I want to try the pretzels! Have you had them? Are they good?

What a confluence of events: I trophied our draft, I got a perfect Power 9, and then I started a new studies notebook. All pretty rare events, and here we have all of them together, how about that. The draft was incredible--headlined by a p1p1 Ojutai on the splash, off of three dual lands and a Pilgrim fetcher guy. Only once was it stuck in my hand, but my opponent had the green Primordial to chomp my gold gate, my sole white source, and I never drew another white gate. He had no idea I was splashing, so it was obviously the right choice, but still frustrating he happened to draw that specific thing. I lost that match, as well as one against a RW deck, that went super wide with the +1 pumper to back them all up, and I wasn't drawing much of anything, but otherwise, we had some seriously sweet games--I had 3 Pteramanders, two of which tabled, and then I had 5 UB Zombie gravedigger/spell-diggers, and only ended up running 3, since I had Ojutai and Sidisi in the 5-mana slot, plus a 4/4 bounce/discarder at six, so I didn't want to get too heavy. So I had some killer early game, and brutal late game, and indeed that's how it panned out: my Pteras would just plink in and as I went up the curve, they'd start to clunk in, and crucially divert some of the hate my other creatures would face--like my opponent had to wait to Ob's Cruelty my Ojutai, which I suspected he had, but even so, that was his entire turn, and meanwhile my Ptera continued to slash in. By the time I got five wins for the infinitivo, I was plenty thrilled, and then before I knew it, I was playing for the trophy, and we managed to nab it. That game involved my Zombies gravedigging the same old bounce spell over and over, meanwhile drawing--he ended up saccing his 2/2 saccer engine just to cut me off from the bounce/draw, and deny having to recast that thing. And so while he was fiddling away with that, again, I was plinking away and he couldn't recover. The sweetest game was when we beat a manifest guy by, again, relentlessly bouncing and topdecking it, so while he was getting a 2/2 per turn, it was costing him 5 mana, essentially, and he, again, also ended up saccing his guy rather than have to keep drawing and casting this thing over and over. Meanwhile I had my Master of Waves send his little army in to clear the manifests, while my 1/5-made bird tokens and Pteras took command in the air. It was so cool, to have all these different sources of pressure, where you couldn't really respond to them all, but have to choose one and hope your guys could naturally handle the rest. Oh, one other sweet game was when my opponent enchanted his 1/3 Tome-Bound Lich to make it a massive lifelinker to start clawing back, and then put me in the abyss, but I had a crucial combo: Reassembling Skeleton and Nantuko Husk, so he could never get through, and in fact could never even deal damage to gain life, meanwhile, you guessed it, Frank Stallone, my Pteras pecked in for the last few points and sealed the deal. Such a sweet deck. I never exploited with Sidisi or my Scorpion, though, despite the fodder from my Skeleton or Master of Waves--I even had sweet plays in saccing say my Master of Waves to Gravedigger it back. Ojutai was a serious beater, but I found I mainly needed it to dig for an answer, as it certainly took chunks out of my opponent's life, but it never connected more than twice. But I did have a sweet soft-combo in the 2/1 Elemental flyer who sabateurs to untap a creature, which would have protected Ojutai from Sorc-speed removal, but my opponent had the instant removal, sadly. It did play a role in the finishing blow for the trophy, though, as it got pumped from my Master of Waves who had already traded off all its tokens, but was still pushing damage, so a number of neat, little interactions throughout the deck--and I ended up cutting one Murmuring Mystic, one Fallaji 0/3 and two UB Gravediggers, so our SB was deep, including a Dictate of Erebos, which mighta locked the opponent given my token and Skeleton saccables.

📉 Update on Byju's Valuation: BlackRock cuts Byju’s valuation by 95% to $1 billion
In a significant development, BlackRock has revised the valuation of BYJU'S, slashing it by 95% to $1 billion. This adjustment comes after Byju's shares were previously valued at $209.6 each in October, down from the peak of $4,660 in 2022.
BlackRock is not alone in downgrading Byju's valuation; Prosus, holding approximately 9% in the Indian startup, has also adjusted its valuation to "sub $3 billion." This marks a substantial decrease from Byju's early 2022 valuation of $22 billion when it was regarded as India's most valuable startup.
Despite being backed by prominent investors such as Peak XV Partners, Lightspeed, UBS, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Byju's has faced challenges. The startup spent over $2.5 billion in acquisitions during 2021 and 2022, receiving valuations as high as $50 billion from renowned investment bankers.
Byju's had ambitious plans for an early 2022 IPO through a SPAC deal, targeting a valuation of up to $40 billion. However, external factors, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February, disrupted the markets, compelling Byju's to postpone its IPO.
Presently, Byju's is grappling with multiple challenges, including difficulty in raising capital, meeting payroll, and addressing a billion-plus debt. The startup fell short of its revenue target for the financial year ending in March 2022, as revealed in a delayed account statement last month.
Notable departures, including CFO Ajay Goel, Deloitte as the auditor, and three key board members in June, have added to the company's woes. Prosus publicly criticized Byju's in July for its alleged failure to evolve and disregard investor advice.
