After years following his empresses successful conquering of Equestria and forging a lasting empire for the changelings. Chrysalis ever the vigilant and cautious ruler had decided to reach out by sending her trusted royal guard commander Pharynx to act as an envoy/spy to King Sombra to discuss a treaty of mutual borders. Pharynx himself having scouted around the crystal empire before following his empresses plan of appearing before the king outright non hostility by surrendering to his guards. 

“I am here to speak with your king, I have been sent by her highness Empress Chrysalis ruler of the changelings and conqueror of Equestria. I humbly ask to be taken to his majesty King Sombra.”

Holding back his hardened instinct for battle the changeling remained cautious of these mind slaved pony guards.

An exhausted huff escaped her lips as she shook her head, placing her hoof on it with a soft groan. Boy, working with this stallion was more like babysitting a child.

❝Sombra, darling,” she softly began, lowering her hoof to look at him. “We don’t punch other ponies, regardless of what they say or do.  Trust me, I know Sterling Silver can be unbearable and yes, I want to punch him myself sometimes, but we can’t just go around doing that! He’s still Captain of the Guard! It could be considered assault if I didn’t step in and cooled him down, as much as I hated it…” She sighed, nuzzling her face into him with a frown. “You have to keep your temper under control, alright? I don’t need you breaking your disguise and giving yourself away to the others.  It’s already risky as is.❞

Sombra merely gave a heartly laugh and a smug look at the fleeting and forced kiss by the once upon a time leader of the guard. "Come now, Shining, do you kiss Cadence like that?" Another bemused laugh from the tyrant, a king of monsters taunting his enemy. What a way to spend the evening~

“Of course not. I actually like Cadence, for one thing.”

The queen consort laid on the king’s bed, her entire body wrapped around him as she nestled her head down on his back.  It had been a long day, and she was glad to see him at the end of it after they both had done their duties.

Of course, he always had a special request or two.  Usually she was fine in completing what he asked, but today her energy was spent.  She had dealt with slaves and their problems, a duty passed onto her from Sombra.  She knew he wasn’t into dealing with issues of those lower than him.

❝I know, dear, but today’s been long and I’ve talked a lot,” she murmured, lifting her nose to nuzzle his mane softly. “I was handling royal court duties for most of today, my voice is sore,” she closed her eyes, nuzzling his neck before giving it the smallest of kisses. “I’ll sing for you tomorrow.  Perhaps we can just enjoy each other’s company for tonight.❞

The extra fluff blows off of him like a dandelion.  The lord of chaos laughs at the king’s reactions to his ridiculousness.  It always was a fun time to bring the high and mighty down a peg.

“Stop mocking?  Perhaps you’ve forgotten who I am!  Quite understandable, being shattered into tiny pieces DOES tend to jumble one’s memory!”

As he spoke, he exploded in exactly the same way Sombra did back when he made his first return.  The day Spike became a hero to an empire.

He reforms coiled around Sombra, “I’m Discord, Lord of chaos!  I mock EVERYONE!”
