We have returned… but…!

We have returned, despite the exhaustion, and the agony of helplessness before a sack of flour, and the sound of a treacherous bullet fired for nothing. And from here, my friend… the story has ended.

It’s nothing but flour mixed with tears of betrayal and the ache of hunger. A life journey written in footsteps toward a postponed death, and the fading mist of whatever remains of a lifespan.

No story here to be told from pulpits, no tale to be shared in gatherings, no book to be taught in schools.

It is Gaza, my friend… the living tale in its pride, despite the invaders racing over its soil and the betrayal of Arabs against its people.

And there… on the edge of a sack of flour… was the final night. When hunger mixed with an endless flood of emotions, embracing what is left of life.

But… how does a person pack their soul’s belongings and set out for a loaf of bread kneaded with blood, while human dignity is trampled beneath feet? How does he stand at the exits of his homeland, glancing back as he departs, to where his hungry child waits, and casts a farewell gaze upon a house of memories now rubble?

O Arabism… avenge us against the cowards pretending to be Arabs… and O blood of the hungry… rise against every trembling traitor.

And O soul… awaken. Enough slumber, even if the whole world lies asleep. Enough… a thousand times enough… for here I still stand, and there… I still dream of life.

Holy shit bro I think I just thought of an original Au idea- The names still being decided by I’m tied between UnderSiege or UnderWar (prob the 1st one idk) I’m gonna try to explain it best I can but I’m not the best at story telling so bare with me here! So the AU’s about war as u can prob tell already BUT it’s not between the humans and monsters, it’s between the monsters themselves.

Long after the monsters were forced underground, instead of adjusting to life underground it only got worse. Conflicts broke out way to frequently between monsters and betrayal was too common to no-longer be an issue, For awhile, The monsters were still ruled by both King and Queen until both grew to hate each other so much that they declared war on each other instead of simply leaving. Monsters took sides on which monarch to ally with and the underground was shifted into territories. Bloodshed raged on for days on end. Family’s were torn apart and the once already horrible place they called home was turned into a horrific endless battlefield. The world was not capable of a reset as it all turned out in the same outcome as before. What once were monsters that clung on to hope of freedom and a peaceful life were gone, replaced by only fear, hatred, lost hope, aggression, and mistrust. No matter how many times the human child tried, there was no happy ending. No matter how many times they tried for a way to stop the war, it never worked. Until even the child themself gave up and succumbed to the life of endless war. There was never a day where bombs were not planted as a surprise for anyone who their guard down, never a day where you wouldn’t witness a monster walking and all of a sudden get shot and dust to the floor in seconds. This, was the life that they had to deal with until the day that one monarch wins and defeats the other and the war between the ones who started it all ends for good.

A tiny smile pulled up the very corner of Geralt's lip as Regis patted his knee and he reached out briefly to return the gesture, laying a large hand over Regis' for a moment.

"You're right, of course. But sometimes the songs and the stories, that's all the good press we Witchers get. There are still plenty of people who despise us," he paused with a wry smile. "But they'd still pay us if their village suddenly became undersiege by corpse eaters."

Regis words did make him feel something though, what that something was he wasn't entirely sure, but something.

"That's all any of us are, isn't it? Just people trying to do their best. Some of us just have rougher hands dealt than others."

A soft sound of agreement, and something that could have been joy, escaped him and he nodded once.

"Yeah, I found it, thanks. You know, it's nice to be able to choose what mutations I have without suffering through Trials, it's been quite helpful. Just carry it around and after a while, boom, new perk."

Geralt made a low sound in the back of his throat, dropping his head back to rest against the seat cushion.

"So I'm not mad, I'm just old." He mused, lifting a hand to scratch idly at the side of his beard. "I dunno if that makes it better or worse."

He understood what Regis was saying, though. He was old. There were times when he certainly felt it. Sometimes he just felt tired of it all, not in a physical way, exactly, just... In his soul -though some would argue that he didn't have one.

"I suppose it's no surprise, Witchers aren't supposed to last this long, don't think they ever really built mental space into our design."

He let his arm drop back to the chair arm, hand hanging lazily over the side.

"I suppose if I ever do forget I can listen to those stupid songs and stories, might amuse me to wonder how much of it all is true."

my greatest fear right now is that somehow cynth is going to ruin this.... i dont want to say trust but olive branch that black keeps extending. black is probably seeing that cynths life was different but understands some of what cynth is dealing with and is trying to help him adjust. but itd be so easy for cynth to fuck this up so even black doesn't want anything to do with him any more.

You believe Black's resolve is dwindling already? That it'll chip away over time? Hmm, that's certainly a possibility I suppose... It's sweet of you to worry about future consequences if Cinth keeps going about the way he has - he's definitely not thinking in the long-term at the moment, lol.

Rest assured, this story is focused mainly on healing and character development (with some fluff and romance sprinkled in for taste). I got most of the angst out of the way in arc one, and I can't just drag Cinth through the 'hurt' over and over again without there being a 'comfort' payoff.

I absolutely refuse to say that Cinth won't continue to be an absolute chaos child to the rest of the house, but out of all the skeletons, Black and Mutt are the least likely to abandon Hyacinth atm.

Undersiege

Long ago, there were two kingdoms: the kingdom of humans and the kingdom of monsters.

 When the monsters were accused of a deadly crime they had never committed, their race was forced to flee underground as the humans took the opportunity to declare a genocidal war as revenge. Since then, the monsters lived in fear and darkness underground while the humans relentlessly sought to destroy monsterkind.    

The main story starts after a decade of darkness and tragedy, when a mysterious human child falls into the Underground. They come with a message to the king of monsters, a message that decides the final fate of both races.
