Who are you most nervous about introducing potential significant others to? Ooooh moving forward, probably Angela hahahaha I have no idea how I’d break it to her if ever I do start seeing somebody again. She’s well aware of all the shit that I let slide so she might get intense with the scrutineering.

What is the most exciting thing about your life right now? Just the fact that I feel on top of the world these days. My days of being depressed and picking at my insecurities seem to be far behind me and the change has looked to be apparent coming from friends who’ve told me I seem happier, louder these days.

What was the most important non-academic thing you learned in high school? To not be scared to fight harder for the things you believe in or what make up your identity, coming from having to hide a same-sex relationship during that period. That feeling of being constricted and having to hide to stay on some conservative seniors’ good graces really pissed me off so high school was really crucial in letting me discover just how much I’d be willing to fight and test the waters to be able to live as me.

Have you ever had a job that deeply affected your personal life? How so and do you still work there? Hmm no, not really. If anything my job is one of the things that helped make me a lot livelier and happier.

Do you have a “one who got away”? It felt that way at the start when my view was still skewed, but it didn’t take long until I realized she was not a loss at all.

If you were in a superhero movie, would you be the hero or the villain? Hero.

If you found a mouse in your house, would you be frightened? Mice or rats are the literal worst fucking thing I could see in my house. I definitely see myself making a big deal out of it lmao, especially rats.

Have you ever tried to perform magic tricks? Nobody ever taught me, so no.

Can you do more with a yo-yo than just "go up and down"? Nah, which kinda makes me feel ashamed because considering it was a Filipino who invented the modern yo-yo, I feel like it should be my responsibility to know a few tricks LOL.

What is one form of technology that you wouldn't be able to live without? Instant messenger.

Did you get an allowance, growing up? Why or why not? Starting high school. Before that I was living in our family’s duplex, so my grandma could make packed meals for all of us – not to mention the fact that my parents were also still on their way to establishing themselves at their respective workplaces so we weren’t all that well-off yet.

When we moved into our own place, we started with my mom making our meals but eventually it just proved to be time-consuming and a lot of work considering she also had a job to go to. With that and the fact that both my parents at that point already got a couple of promotions, we switched to allowance.

Would you rather go to a water park or an amusement park? Why? Amusement parks though I would only probably head to the safer rides and food stalls with all the deep-fried offerings haha. I cannot handle more intense rides. On the other hand, water parks have always sounded nasty to me.

What is one instrument you wouldn't mind learning how to play? Piano.

What's the longest amount of time you've had to wait in line for something? The stupid LTO, because you can never count on government agencies to be efficient. Technically my whole time in there took a couple of stages, but all in all I spent eight hours there.

What is something that you would like to learn more about? Korean. I just graduated from my Basic Korean 1 class but I already have plans to enroll in the following course, since I seemed to do well and I want to keep the momentum going.

What is something that one of your family member collects? Mom has a large collection of chef-themed figurines and other sorts of trinkets like a chef timer, shot glasses, etc - but mostly the figurines - that she has displayed in a glass case. I should keep that in mind for when I start Christmas shopping, actually...she hasn’t updated that collection in a long time. Thanks for the idea!

Have you ever moved to a new school before? If so, how did it feel? No, not in the middle of the same period since I went to the same school from kinder to high school for 14 years. I only “moved” when I started college. Like I’ve said in previous surveys, it felt freeing to finally not under be the hands of an environment ran by...well, Catholics. It was a culture shock to see rallies everywhere, to find out I could wear short shorts or even go to school naked if I wanted to, and to see boys in my class (I went to an all-girls), but it was all the good kind of shock.

Have you ever legitimately forgotten to do homework? Always, because I never wrote them down.

Do you enjoy autumn leaves or spring flowers more? Why? I experience neither season.

Depending on where you live, why might a day of school get canceled? Typhoon.

If you could meet any fictional character from a book, who would it be? Melanie Hamilton from Gone with the World.

What are some common places that people tour when they come to your city? I rarely see foreigners here since my area isn’t particularly known for tourism; most go to the island provinces like Cebu, Aklan, Palawan, etc. If I had to recommend spots here, I’d tell them to go for Pinto and maybe the rooftop bars that offer a view of Manila’s skyline.

What's one food that you did not enjoy as a child, but do as an adult? Chicken curry, which I used to dread.

Would you rather have a mermaid tail, a fairy's wings or a unicorn's horn? I guess the wings just because I feel like it’s the only practical one.

What is an animal that you'd like to have as a pet but it's not allowed? I don’t think that way about animals I can’t keep as pets anyway.

What are some things that you do to make the world a better place? I always clean up at restaurants (my mom doesn’t understand why I do it because “the servers are here for a reason, Robyn”) but I always see the relief on their faces when they see I’ve stacked up the plates and cups so I don’t see a reason to stop doing it. I keep the door open for people who happen to enter/exit a building the same time as me, share dog adoption posts, don’t make a fuss about or towards a shop staff who messes up...things like that. I hope it’s able to help, even if just in a small way.

Has the last person you had sex with ever had sex with someone besides you? I don’t know. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has already.

What’s your favorite store at your mall? We have several malls within the vicinity but I like frequenting NCAT.

Have you ever done a workout DVD? No but my mom is fond of those.

Who usually takes out the trash in your family? Either of my parents.

What song are you currently obsessed with? My Universe is soooooo good. It’s Coldplay’s classic sound but they somehow managed to perfectly blend in BTS’ style as well, so I love how it turned out.

When you go fishing, do you make someone else get the fish off the hook? I've never gone fishing.

Do you take any prescription meds? Nope.

What happens if you don’t take them? Who was the last person you dreamt about? My dad.

Do you prefer your tea sweetened or unsweetened? Sweetened, though I don’t usually actively look for iced tea. I’d have it if it was served, but I don’t typically order it for myself.

How often do you honk your horn? As long as I am annoyed, which gives my mom a mini heart attack every time because she insists I just let people have their way to avoid getting into fights. Sometimes when she’s driving and someone’s being stupid on the road I lurch forward to do the honking for her and it pisses her off soooooooooo much but it also gets the job done so *shrug*

Do you have any children? If so, names and ages? I don’t.

Have your parents ever witnessed you doing something inappropriate? What? TMI but I almost got caught doing the m-word once but my reflexes were at lightning speed that day so when my door opened I was able to fix myself up and appear as though nothing was happening lol. My mom also saw a hickey on me once but I was able to veer the conversation away when she started inquiring.

Did you get babysat a lot as a kid? No, I did the babysitting.

If you were the principal of a school, what would you do differently? Actually deal with teachers who mistreat or make issues towards their students. I had several teachers I know didn’t like me but I could never do anything about it because there was no way in hell the school was going to take my side.

Are you doing anything fun tomorrow? Continued from yesterday. If I took this question yesterday to refer to today I would’ve answered yes because we actually have a really fun PR stunt scheduled for execution today, wherein we get to sponsor someone’s whole wedding from food to flowers to the host and fillm crew :D :D But tomorrow is just Monday so the real answer to this is no.

What is something you'd like to receive as a housewarming gift? I dunno the usual housewarming gifts, but I would appreciate anything practical, or anything that you’ll need at the least expected times, like batteries or even like Sticky Tack.

How old were you when you first experienced the effects of puberty? Oooh I was an early bird – I was 9 when I could first tell my first period was on its way; it came a month after I turned 10.

What is your least favorite holiday, and why? I don’t dislike any holiday because they all mean a day off work lol.

What were some outdoor games you played as a child? We usually played piko (hopscotch), our local version of freeze tag that we dubbed “Ice ice water” for whatever reason, and a garter game that we call 10-20. Dodgeball was a favorite during recess and lunch, too.

Did you accompany your parents on "Take Your Child to Work" Day? That’s not observed here, but my mom did use to take me and my siblings to her first workplace. Are cemeteries peaceful to you, or do they freak you out? They’re actually more interesting to me than anything else. I like learning about the different lives of many different people, even if I only technically know them by their birthday and date of death. Sometimes the inscriptions would be more detailed and tell more about their life, sometimes I’d come across babies who only lived a few days...and it’s just interesting to have those glimpses into life.

Which ancient civilization would you be interested in learning more about? Filipino, because Western colonization destroyed proof of most of it.

Do you have better long-term memory or short-term memory? Long.

What was the last situation that made you cry? Describe. I cried this morning. Nothing bad or heavy, I just found myself thinking again about my mental state last year.

Which forest animal would you be most afraid to encounter? Anything that wouldn’t hesitate to tear my limbs apart.

Do you believe in anything supernatural? (ie: spirits, etc) No.

Has anyone close to you ever gone to war? No. The closest link I have to the military, other than my dead great-grandfather, is Angela’s uncle who’s like a general or like a colonel or something, idk titles.

Have you ever experienced altitude sickness? Yeah, occasionally. Pressure in the ear is a bigger nuisance to me, though.

Is there anything, any event, you wish you could remember more clearly? The last time I saw my grandfather. My only clear memory of him that day was stepping out of the house to leave (my mom and I were visiting) and him sending me off with the message to always be kind and good. If I had known I would never see him again, I never would’ve left.

Have you ever rubbed anyone’s feet? Hmm no, not that I can recall.

If you had to get advice from someone of the opposite sex, who would you go to? I’d go to Hans for certain advice, but not for every single situation. He’s the only person that comes to mind.

What was the last new food/drink that you tried? So last Wednesday I finally got to try this Instagram-based doughnut shop that I’ve been eyeing since August and it turned out to be even MUCH BETTER THAN EXPECTEDDDDDD. Like yeah their photos were always mouthwatering but I didn’t expect it to taste as good as it looks, since most pretty food I’ve encountered usually end up just tasting meh. Anywho, I got two orders of their sampler box and they served me their specialty bacon doughnut, signature brown butter, and a bunch of their chocolate and peanut butter variants and I loved every single fucking thing.

Have you had a good day today or was yesterday better? Oh it’s hard to tell, it’s only 9:05 AM. Both days might be uneventful, though.

Have you ever played Sudoku? I don’t actually get how to play it hahaha. I feel like I’m too stupid for sudoku.

Do you ever take surveys for money? I tried it last year when applying for jobs was still a bitch for me, but the thing is most of those surveys look for employed participants so there was rarely ever a survey that fit me anyway.

Do you like Barbie or Bratz better? Bratz.

Do you prefer purple or green grapes? I don’t like grapes.

Who was the last person that made you laugh? Idk, probs one of the boys since I was watching videos of them earlier today.

Where does your best friend live? A nearby city.

What can always make you feel better no matter what? My dogs.

What is something you’ll never eat again? Why? I don’t think there is anything. I feel like I’m always bound to retry things and that I would be open to doing so, even fruits. One thing I’m firm about never drinking again, though, is coconut water. Get that SHIT away from me.

What is currently happening that is scaring you? I’m not feeling scared these days.

Have you ever found a stranger’s note somewhere? If so, what did it say? Probably. But nothing sticks out.

Borahae Slimes Haul #2 Review!

Dean ( @eternalseokjin ) restocked with some new slimes, so of course I had to snatch a few!

Full disclosure, Dean is my friend and knew my birthday recently passed so he gave me some extra goodies (a free full slime, extra candy, and I’m pretty sure the amount of photocards and stickers were extra too lol. Dude gave me 3 Yoongi photocards because he knows how soft I am for that man) with this because he’s just amazing and sweet like that ^-^ Thank you, Dean!

I was lucky for the order to come really quickly, especially during this time of year. And once I started opening up the package, I got so excited! He didn’t tell me he had added Until Spring for free as a birthday gift, so it was such a pleasant surprise! (And a surprise blessing with the extra containers as well, for reasons I’ll explain later). Keep reading for a detailed review with pictures!

Also. my apologies for the pictures not being more condensed. Every time I attempted to adjust them on mobile, tumblr decided to give me an error so... ugh lol.

I’ll Show You

I’ll Show You is themed after the song ‘Magic Shop,’ and has such a lovely, relaxing scent. It comes with little iridescent flakies (if you’re a fan of Simply Nailogical like Dean and I, you’d probably call it Unicorn Skin) that are optional to put in, as well as a key charm. The flakies do somewhat poke your hand while you play with it, but it’s not hard at all so unless you have very sensitive hands I don’t see it being a problem.

The color is a gorgeous iridescent cream, and the flakies add another really nice layer to it as well. It’s a very beautiful slime, and I easily see myself taking it out when I’m having a rough day because of how lovely and calming the chamomile and lavender scents are.

Anpanman

The slime is themed after the song of the same name and comes with a custom-made clay charm with a comic-style onomatopoeia (recommended to NOT store inside the slime). The version I bought is the Bingsu one, since I didn’t know if I’d enjoy larger blocks being in my slime.

There is an option to leave it unscented to keep the clear slime from getting cloudy/tinted by it, but I really LOVE the blue raspberry jolly rancher scent and am so glad I opted to keep it! I enjoy the soft crunchy texture to the Bingsu, and this slime is just jam packed with them so it’s super satisfying to play with!

Until Spring

This one is themed after ‘Spring Day,’ and comes with 4 individually packaged colors which you can mix as you please, and a snowflake charm. One is a thick white snow fizz, the pink a bingsu (not quite as packed as Anpanman), and the blue and purple are clear-based slimes. The metallic shimmer of the blue is GORGEOUS, and I almost feel guilty for blending it all into the overall mixture.

The end result is this beautiful pastel purple, with the sporadic snow fizz and pink bingsu adding a unique texture. The smell is also very soft and lovely.

Sweet Life

Sweet Life is themed after BTS’ recent single, ‘Dynamite!’ The clay donut and record charm (again, recommended to NOT store inside the slime) are both handmade by Dean, and it also comes with a small bag of fake sprinkles. The donut came wrapped in plastic wrap and inside a smaller plastic tub than the slimes. And the slime itself is a very sweet scent - a little too strong to me personally, but nothing I can’t handle.

Alright, now this is the only hiccup I had in the order, so I’ll explain what happened.

While I did think something was a bit odd when I tore the donut in half, I didn’t pay enough attention before I started trying to mix it with the slime. It turns out, the container the donut was shipped in ended up getting cracked during shipment, and the clay had half dried by the time it got to me. So it was rather hard trying to mix that part into the slime. You might be able to tell in the second picture above, that there are chunks hardly mixed, if at all, into the slime.

Knowing that it was because the container ended up cracked doesn’t personally make me too concerned that others would have the problems I did. I spoke with Dean about it, and he helped me figure out what to do. The part I already started mixing with the slime started to absorb moisture from it and became softer and easier to work with as I let it just sit for a bit. The other half, I put into a (not cracked, airtight) container and poured just a bit of water on it. I let it sit while I was working with Until Spring, and periodically went back to it to mix up the slime or knead the water into the clay to help it along.

It didn’t take too long before it was able to all mix together and I ended with my final slime! I really love the texture. It’s really thick, almost like a putty and super satisfying! Also a side note, Dean said he isn’t quite sure how the slime he used for making his shop post ended up so brown, because his personal slime of this also ended up a similar shade of a blue-gray to mine. I do really like the color though, it’s a neat muted, almost teal color.

And this is where the extra containers due to the four individual slimes for Until Spring came in handy, since the tub containing the donut was cracked. I was able to use the little 2 oz containers for the rest of the slime that wouldn’t fit in the big container after mixing in the clay, so I didn’t need to go finding something else to put it in. What a happy little coincidence!

Extra Slime - Anpanman Block version

The extra slime I got this time was a sample of the block version of Anpanman, probably because Dean knows I’m new to exploring different types of slime and wanted to let me try it out. I can say that I’m glad I got the Bingsu one in my purchase, but I also don’t hate the chunky blocks as much as I thought I might. It’ll still be a very nice one to fiddle with here and there.

So overall, I’m incredibly happy yet again! I don’t blame Dean for the hiccup with the clay donut, since the tub getting cracked most likely happened in shipping - and everything was very well packaged, wrapped in bubble wrap and then tissue paper, and in a padded mailer so he did everything he could to try to keep it safe. And besides, although it was extra work, it still blended into the slime in the end so I’m happy :)

Best Store Ever

Stray Kids Extra Member AU

Summary: Ollie takes Felix and Jeongin to her favorite store and they’re met with a surprise.

A/N: This was supposed to go up at 10:30, but Tumblr wouldn’t let me. So I was finally able to post it now. Hope you enjoy!

“Noona, please slow down. It’s busy here and I don’t want to lose you,” Felix called out to Ollie as she skipped through the mall. Stray Kids were in New York for the American leg of their tour, and were given a few hours for sightseeing and shopping.

Ollie was grouped with Felix and Jeongin, and the trio spent the first hour taking pictures at famous landmarks. Then they had gone for lunch, and now they were shopping.

“Come on! The store I want is just down here. Once we go here, I won’t ask for any more stores. I’ll just follow you two around,” Ollie smiled, looking at the boys who rushed up to her.

The boys looked at each other, then shrugged. “Sounds good to me,” Felix said. Ollie grinned, linking arms with them, and walking a bit more before they stopped in front of the Crocs store. It was massive and Ollie was vibrating with excitement.

“Not surprised,” Felix chuckled.

“You could have just told us, Noona. No need to bring us here blindly. We definitely would have come with you,” Jeongin smiled, putting an arm around her, to stop her from bouncing.

“That’s why I picked to spend the day with you two. You wouldn’t complain or talk me out of it,” Ollie said looking at the two boys.

“If Jisung had known that you’d be going here, he wouldn’t have been so mad that you chose us,” Felix chuckled, shaking his head.

The trio walked in, jaws dropping at the insane amount of styles, colors, and jibbitz. There was a good size of people from all ages trying on pairs; from kids to vsco girls to soccer moms.

“I’m in heaven,” Ollie said in awe.

“It lowkey looks like a unicorn threw up in here,” Felix said, wincing at all the colors.

“Right? Isn’t it great?” Ollie said, beginning her quest to find the right pair of Crocs.

“Oh, Noona,” Jeongin shook his head chuckling and followed after her. Felix, slowly did too.

“Hi. How can I help you?” an employee in her early twenties asked them in English. Ollie turned to her grinning like a mad man.

“It’s her first time here,” Felix answered, knowing Ollie’s brain was probably malfunctioning with all the colors in the store. Ollie nodded her head, rainbow waves bouncing in her face (Ollie had changed her hair color once again).

The employee gawked at Felix’s accent (And most likely, deep voice), and Ollie giggled, “Isn’t his accent the best?” The employee smiled sheepishly.

“Ollie, please stop,” Felix pleaded, ears turning red.

Ollie felt a tug on her sleeve, and saw Jeongin holding on to it. He seemed to tune out the English conversation and began to look around the store. He’d done this a few times today, and Ollie had come to realize that this is how he deals with the language barrier. She knew that he’d been studying English, but obviously one doesn't learn a new language overnight.

“Anyway, I’m just here for a new pair, and then we’ll be on our merry way,” Ollie smiled at the girl, who nodded her head.

Felix then noticed Jeongin and turned to Ollie, “You start picking a pair. The maknae and I will follow behind you.” Jeongin looked at the two when hearing the Korean.

“Sounds good,” Ollie smiled, holding a thumbs up. She then turned to the employee, and followed her to the back wall where a majority of the Crocs were. The boys followed them, speaking in Korean.

“What language were you guys speaking?” the employee asked, then added, “If you don’t mind me asking.”

Ollie smiled, “Korean. We’re from South Korea.”

The girl nodded her head smiling, “That’s cool. Are you guys here for vacation?”

“Nah, more like work,” Ollie shrugged, looking at all of the colors, already running through a mental list of the ones she owned; white, yellow, sky blue, peach, lavender, and black (Oh wow, she owned a lot. Oops).

The girl gave her a look, then something seemed to click, “Are you guys in a k-pop group?”

Ollie side-eyed Felix who looked just as surprised, then looked back at the girl, “Yeah?”

“My sister is really into k-pop and she occasionally tries to get me to listen to it. It’s not really my thing, but there are a few songs that I like,” the girl said.

“Really which ones?” Ollie asked, smiling. She could hear Felix telling Jeongin what was going on.

“Let’s see. There’s a BTS one, what’s it called? I Need U?” the girl seemed unsure.

“Yep, that’s the one,” Ollie assured her.

The girl smiled then began listing a few more, “Very Nice. Is it Seventeen?”

“Yeah,” Felix answered this time.

“And there’s one more I like. They were actually on TV the other day singing it. My sister showed me. It was something that started with an L. I can’t remember the name, but the group’s name was Stray Kids.”

Ollie’s and Felix’s mouths dropped. “No way,” Ollie said in disbelief.

“Lixie, what’s going on?” Jeongin whispered. Felix quickly translated.

“Yeah. If I had to choose a favorite k-pop song, it would be-” the girl began.

“Levanter,” Ollie finished.

“Yeah, that’s the one,” the girl smiled, then paused, “Holy shit. No way. Are you?”

Ollie nodded then laughed, “Yeah, we’re Stray Kids.”

“Or at least three out of the eight members,” Felix chuckled.

“Hi,” Jeongin said shyly, waving at the girl.

“Hi,” she waved back. “Holy shit, I can’t believe I met not just a k-pop group, but one that I actually know about.” She placed her hand on her mouth in awe. “Can I take a quick picture?”

“Of course,” Ollie nodded. They all positioned themselves for a group selfie.

“My sister is going to kill, but oh well. I told her she should have gotten a job here,” the employee shook her head smiling.

“Well this is the best store on the planet,” Ollie smiled.

“Agree to disagree,” Felix said.

The girls laughed. “Oh, that’s right you came for a new pair of Crocs,” the girl looked at Ollie with wide eyes.

“Yeah, but this was totally cool too,” Ollie laughed, “Plus I think I already know which one I want.” The employee watched Ollie point to her very own pink ones.

“These are my favorite,” the employee gushed.

“Even more reason for me to get them,” Ollie bounced happily.

At the end, the trio walked out with a new pair of (baby pink) Crocs for Ollie and a new Stay. The Crocs store was definitely Ollie’s favorite store.

Summary: You’re a writer of BTS fanfiction. rockstarjin is your favorite reader that you’ve actually come to be friends with…and maybe had a bit of a crush on if you were honest. You’re up for quite the surprise.

Warnings: Not really much this chapter. Single instance of the word whore, but no one was calling someone that. It was just a comment. Semi-vague sort of sexting (you’ll see).

Notes: I might make a separate chapter after this is done - like a bonus type thing - featuring some comments from rockstarjin, if you guys are interested. I wasn’t sure if everyone would want to see them or if they’d bore you, so I kinda glossed over that. Let me know if that’s something you’d want! Commissioned by @kimseokmomjins

Being a writer - even if it’s simply for fanfiction - you take comments and reviews very seriously. A good comment or review can lift your spirits and leave you smiling for a whole day. A negative comment often leaves you questioning everything and going over your chapters with a fine-tooth comb. The rare unicorns were the readers that took the time to leave long and detailed comments, stating exactly what they liked and disliked about the latest chapter. Many of these were filled with valuable suggestions and helped you decide the path that your stories would take.

One such unicorn was named rockstarjin, a reader that had been following your work for nearly a year now. His first comment had practically been drabble-sized, and had covered everything from his enjoyment over how realistically you characterized Kim Seokjin to how he was certain he would never use the “W” word (he literally typed out “W” word instead of whore, something you still teased him over to this day).

That first review of his was only one of many. He took the time to give detailed reviews on every single chapter you posted until you discovered that in your head you were practically writing for him. It had even gotten to the point where several of your stories were ideas that the two of you had chatted about on tumblr for months, working through every detail. He still seemed a little iffy on the smut, but he’d gotten you to consider the idea of writing Seokjin as “Less aggressive” in the bedroom.

Your friendship had grown until you were now friends on practically every social media app - nevermind that his profiles were always suspiciously void of personal information. The more that you talked to “Rocky” (you started calling him that months ago since he didn’t seem excited about telling anyone his name, though he knew yours), the more you looked forward to interacting with him.

You couldn’t even explain really why you were getting so attached to some blank face behind the screen. You didn’t even know all that much about the real him, just small observations from chats. Like, you knew that he seemed similar to Seokjin in a lot of ways, which is probably why he claimed him as a bias.

Rocky was very fond of puns and dad jokes, often sending you one first thing in the morning on KKT instead of a hello or good morning like a normal person. This morning it was, “Why did the tomato turn red? Because it saw the salad dressing.” You were ashamed that they always made you laugh at least a little bit, but it made you happy that one of the first things he thought to do in the morning was send you something.

He was also fond of talking to you about food and recipes, acting affronted whenever you mentioned not knowing what something was. He would literally bully you into going to the grocery store and buying the ingredients he’d list out, demanding pictures of the final product like he was Gordon Ramsey. You had to admit he had good taste in food, even if you didn’t think your cooking skills were quite on par with his. It sometimes made you wonder if he was a chef, but the one time you’d brought it up he’d claimed to be too damn tired to cook and was living vicariously through you. Of course, that led to you asking what he did that got him so tired and he gave you another vague answer, stating he was in entertainment. Whatever the hell that meant.

It bothered you sometimes that even after all this time he was disinclined to tell you anything, but you couldn’t help it as your feelings slowly evolved from those of friendship to...well, something more. You were a little hesitant to use the L word, considering you only knew what he wanted you to know, but you definitely had a crush at least. Not surprising considering he seemed to be everything you were looking for. He was considerate and compassionate, funny, creative, and so many other things. However, the fact that he was so very loud and proud about his love for Seokjin made you avoid looking at your feelings too closely. Because while you were over here pining for him, the only person that praised Seokjin more than Rocky was Kim Seokjin himself. And that could mean any number of things.

Even when he helped you with smut ideas he got you excited. He had slowly gotten you to lean away from always writing Seokjin as some powerful dom - something your other readers had begun to notice and comment on - and now most of your scenes had him as being the more submissive one. He seemed to like it best when the main character was more of a soft dom, willing to take charge and take care of Seokjin. Rocky claimed that a man like Seokjin who was always working hard and worrying about one thing or another would relish the idea of being taken care of. You had to admit it made sense.

You sigh and glance at your phone again, noting the lack of notifications. Your morning pun was the last you’d heard from Rocky today, something that had been happening for a few days now. Considering BTS was on tour right now, you’d expected a lot more messages about how he thought Seokjin was especially handsome today. Instead, for almost a week it had been nothing but your morning jokes and once he sent you a picture of his fancy looking dinner complaining about the portion size. You were beginning to really miss him, but you figured he must be busy.

You wanted to scream with him today, considering BTS was finally going to be in your city in a couple days. You’d bought the tickets months ago, and Rocky had even convinced you to get pit tickets, something you never do because it’s basically a gladiator stadium up there. You were currently waiting for one of the boys to show up on vlive since the last concert before they traveled to your city had just finished a bit ago. It had been a fantastic show and Seokjin had looked as beautiful as always. You hoped he would be the one to go live, but that was rare unless he was with another member.

Suddenly, your phone beeps and shows a message on KKT.

Rocky: Kill me

You smile widely, excited flutters starting in your belly. It was ridiculous how pleased you got just to hear from him.

You: Is there an option B?

Rocky: We could run away and start a new life on a deserted island. Our descendants will become known as the most beautiful people on the planet.

You blush and force yourself to cough to cover up the giggle that threatened to escape.

You: Is that so?

Rocky: Naturally. They all take after me, of course.

You: Of course.

You: What brought this on?

Rocky: I’m so damn tired. My body hurts and I just want to sleep for a week.

You: Oh no! Do you have time to soak in the bath? Epsom salt works wonders.

Rocky: I’ll be able to soak later. Right now I’m just forcing myself to stay awake long enough to eat. I feel like a zombie.

Rocky: Hey, why did the zombie cross the road?

You: Why?

Rocky: TO EAT THE CHICKEN 🤣

You: 🤭

You: Really though, take care of yourself. I don’t want you getting sick on me.

Rocky: How would you take care of me?

You gasped, peering hard at the phone. This was new. Of course, you could be reading this the wrong way, and he’s simply asking to ask.

You: Depends. Are you asking for tips or in the white boy “What would you do if I was there with you” way?

Rocky: Let’s try it this way. Say I’m Kim Seokjin. I’m tired and hurting after another long night of performing. You’re waiting for me in my hotel room. How would you take care of Jin?

You: Omigosh, are you voluntarily helping with a smut scene?

Rocky: Sure

You: Ok, let's see. This scene can’t get too crazy if he’s tired like that. I think mostly I would focus on his comfort.

So, he’d show up and I’d already have a bath waiting and food on the way. Maybe some aromatherapy candles are lit and some quiet instrumentals in the background. I’d let him soak until the food got there, hang out in the bathroom with him and let him vent to me if he wanted.

After his meal, I would put a towel on the bed and have him lay on top so I could rub him down with massage oil. Naked, of course ;)

I’m sure he gets it from professionals, but I think he’d appreciate it right after a concert and bath.

Then, it would just depend on what kind of story it was. I could either rub him down like that until he falls asleep, or it could go the smut way. There are lots of options for that too depending on the story. I could give him a handjob while I talk sweetly to him, I could ride him and tease him, maybe peg him if he’s into that. Anything that would keep him soft and pliant, because the goal is to get him comfortable and happy. To show him he can just let go with me, let me be in charge of his pleasure. Show him he’s loved and cherished.

Rocky: Fuck

You: Too much? 🙊

Rocky: No

The phone was silent for a whole two minutes. Surely he’d heard worse from you, so you didn’t think you’d freaked him out or something. When another message came in you breathed a sigh of relief.

Rocky: So, I’m gonna be in your city for the concert

You: No shit?! I can suggest so many great places for you to eat!!!

You: Or if you wanted, we could meet up? No pressure and I totally won’t be offended if you don’t want to. Stranger danger and all that.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again:

I FUCKING LOVE BRIE LARSON

She’s a spectacular actress who’s amazingly good at her art, but she’s also a fucking amazing human being. She’s got the most intense BDE ever, yet she’s also the softest human bean with a smile that makes all your worries go away, who spends 20mins looking for an Endgame BTS pic for her followers.

I know it must be difficult for her, especially as an introvert, to deal with all this overwhelming attention, when Captain Marvel, Unicorn Store and Endgame all basically came out at the same time, but she handles it all so well. She gets so much undeserved hate, yet all she spreads is love and appreciation for her fans. She actually interacts with them even when she has so much on her plate, which is something I absolutely love.

She deserves all the best, because she’s such a wonderful human being, and I love her so much it’s insane.

Maid Wars: Prologue (1/9)

author’s note: also on AO3 finally posting the collab with @thinking_toes (twt) and i! so this has been two years in the making. we were just talking in the kitchen about this shit and it was so entertaining that we decided to take notes and... welp here we are. this was a JOURNEY. we hope you enjoy reading this multi-fandom kpop fic as much as we enjoyed building this world. happy reading~

Summary:

In life, desperate times call for desperate measures. And that is exactly how Kim Taehyung, unemployed college student extraordinaire, meets Cha Hakyeon and Jung Taekwoon—proud owners of two very different kinds of coffee shops engaged in a friendly rivalry. Naturally, things go to shit as misunderstandings lead to glares, and cupcakes lead to scares. As the adorable staff members of the Little Kawaii Service Cafe come head to head with the tsundere boys of the What is Service Cafe, friendships will be strained. Wigs will be snatched. Frosting will be whipped (like the boys), and there is nothing Hakyeon or Taekwoon can do to stop them even if they wanted to (they don’t).

There was a town not too far off that bustled with the busyness of a city, but not quite enough to overwhelm it. Its people went to work day in and day out for roughly eight hours, five or six days a week, but they had something unique in this little town that some suspect kept them happy and content. When people grew tired, some went to the comforts of their own home, some went to places where alcohol could untwist their nerves, and some, some went to two wonderful establishments in particular. Now, not everyone benefited from these gems. Not everyone believed these were gems, but for those who did, they would enter and leave with laughter in their lungs, satisfied stomachs, lighter shoulders, and fuller hearts.

It all began with two very good friends (only one of them openly expressed their friendship as such) who pursued their degrees in economics through a nearby university. The two of them aspired to have their own business, to fulfill their dreams of being the owners of the most well known, and well-respected establishments in their district. After toiling for their qualifications to be given to them on a piece of thicker paper, they graduated with flying colors, had diplomas their parents could be proud of, and lots and lots of money to return. They had to get to work fast.

Very good friends as they were (again, only one of them openly expressing so), they decided to rent spaces right across the street from each other. Both immediately knew what they wanted to pursue and tried to establish themselves in the way they dreamed of, but only Hakyeon became very successful. Taekwoon on the other hand wasn’t exactly failing, but he wasn’t making it either. For weeks he tried to keep it to himself and just push through, hoping that his hard work and his pride would pay off, but weeks turned into two months and, frankly, his ego couldn’t pay the bills.

Taekwoon looked at Hakyeon’s success across the street and tried to remember all the pros of asking for advice from this person he was alright with tolerating. For years, he tolerated all his blinding smiles and grabby limbs without sacrificing his own dignity too much. That should be a good sign. Also, his store was closed today and Hakyeon’s wasn’t. It all worked out like some huge coincidence. He made his decision with a long, heavy sigh, gathered up all the courage he could find in his body, and braced himself as he walked out of his place, onto the street, and into Hakyeon’s.

It was still fairly early in the day. Taekwoon couldn’t see many employees, but he surely saw Hakyeon from the outside of the store busy with the register, dressed immaculately in a floral suit over a white button down, pressed black slacks and black bow-tie. His purple hair was styled very prim and proper with a bit of forehead showing. A thought had Taekwoon hesitating, but he shook it away. He did walk all this way here after all. With one final shred of mental determination, he pushed open the obnoxiously decorated door, giving away his arrival to its occupants with the tinkling of a bell.

“Is that my Taekwoonie!? You finally paid me a visit!” Hakyeon exclaimed when he realized who entered. “I knew you had it in your grumpy self to miss me.”

“I don’t miss you,” Taekwoon grumbled lowly, receiving the already blinding smiles and the already grabby limbs.

“Still the same as ever, but I know you love me anyway.” Hakyeon wasn’t deterred at all, escorting him enthusiastically to a lime green colored table with fluffy stuffed animals on it. Taekwoon huffed, his neck getting warmer by the minute. “Here, have a seat and let me order something for you, on the house. I’m sure you’ll like it!”

With nothing else to do but wait, Taekwoon looked around and decided that he found the decor atrocious. Whose idea was it to display all these unnecessary accessories? It’s like some unicorn pranced it’s way in and puked all over the walls. Was that a cat clock with a swishy tail?

Hakyeon was back in no time bringing a mug with a ridiculous amount of froth bouncing up and down in time with his strides. As soon as it was set down in front of Taekwoon, it was spun around and he found himself being greeted by a smiling foamy kitty. Taekwoon looked mortified and didn’t look at all like he wanted to touch it. Hakyeon laughed heartily, clearly amused by his reaction.

“I didn’t know you would like it that much without even tasting it yet.” The feeling of knowing someone so well tasted so sweet. “Don’t worry. You can have this every time you visit. You’ll see the kitty again. Go ahead.”

Taekwoon couldn’t manage to glare at Hakyeon while staring at the softly wobbling mound of foam. He reached out slowly and brought it to his lips, taking a tentative sip. After a few beats, he widened his eyes and made a noise from the back of his throat. It tasted of lavender and vanilla. A latte. He liked it. He liked it a lot. He hastily threw the compliment in the air and took another sip. Hakyeon heard him but pretended not to for his sake.

“So, to what do I owe this rare and valuable visit of yours?” Hakyeon asked, trying not to focus too closely on Taekwoon’s cute foam mustache. They hadn’t talked very much since they were both busy starting up their businesses. And while Hakyeon still tried to wave a lot in Taekwoon’s direction when he saw him, it didn’t quite make up for talking. “How are you doing?”

“I—Hakyeon, I need some advice,” Taekwoon deflated, “some h-help about, about my cafe. It’s—I’m not…doing so well.”

Hakyeon let him continue talking, waiting for his cue.

“I don’t know what’s wrong. Our food is delicious. The desserts and beverages are delicately put together. We have good servers. They’re young, polite,” he rolled his eyes, ”somewhat good-looking.”

Hakyeon snickered.

“Really annoying and bratty, but polite. The point is,” Taekwoon waved his hand dismissively, “they do their job just fine. Everything else seems to be fine. So, what am I missing??”

Hakyeon’s place became known for a lot of Things, and he was sure it would help if Taekwoon incorporated it in his own cafe, too. Hakyeon agreed about the food and drinks at Taekwoon’s place being great. The recipes were fantastic. Taekwoon’s dishes were better than the ones they currently served. He’d had a taste of it back in their university days, and he knew that there was no way that Taekwoon would let anything be served without it being up to his standard of perfection. So really, there was nothing wrong with the menu. What Taekwoon needed, was a point of differentiation. Some way to showcase the attributes of his brand to his competitive advantage. Perhaps, one that sold a Unique Service to its customers. Maybe, the exact same as Hakyeon’s, which was completely alright with him. He was confident in his own skills, and after all, they are very good friends.

“Sandeul!” Hakyeon called out. Their store hadn’t opened yet but he was sure everyone was in their uniform by now. They had another thirty minutes before their shift really began. Taekwoon had his forehead glued to the table when he heard the assumed person click-clacking his way to them.

“Yes, sir?”

Taekwoon looked up to be polite and his jaw dropped.

“I know this is putting you on the spot right now,” Hakyeon inquired, “but how has it been since you’ve started working here?”

Hakyeon was puzzled when Sandeul didn’t answer straight away and noticed him fidgeting a little, slightly turning away from where Taekwoon was sitting. Hakyeon turned to Taekwoon, surprised to see him gawking.

“Taekwoon. What. What’s wrong?”

“I-I…Um, why is he wearing t-that?”

Hakyeon and Sandeul blinked at him.

“Well, how else am I supposed to run a maid cafe without our servers dressed as maids?”

“Y-your business is,” Taekwoon swallowed before speaking again, “a maid cafe?”

“Yes! Did you not figure that out from the store name?”

Taekwoon shook his head frantically, fighting so hard not to hide under the table from embarrassment.

“It’s called The Little Kawaii Service Cafe, for goodness sake,” Hakyeon covered his face with his hands.

“B-But,” Taekwoon argued weakly, “I thought those pictures of maids outside your shop was just for decoration because,” he shrunk further into his seat, “well, you know, to add to the cuteness theme thing you had going on,” he uncontrollably gestured to the everything in the cafe.

“A-and I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that you’re not cute,” Taekwoon said, arms flapping and rambling intensifying in hopes that Sandeul wasn’t offended. “I just—I-I mean…”

“Yes, sir! I am one of the maids in it,” Sandeul confessed happily knowing he was just called cute. Indirectly, but cute nonetheless. “And I can proudly say I love working here. The people we serve follow the rules and are kind to us, so I feel quite safe and appreciated, especially when they cheer for me when I sing. It’s nice.”

Hakyeon flashed a proud smile at Sandeul. “Yes, that’s right. Sandeul is a great singer and performer. You should see him when the guests order the Dragon Fruit Special. It’s his signature thing. They go crazy for it.”

Sandeul decided right then to show Taekwoon a sample of it. Before he could even finish, Taekwoon was showing him the crown of his head and making a lot of nervous noises while awkwardly seal-clapping.

“I was going to propose that you turn your cafe into a maid cafe as well, Taekwoon. I didn’t know that the people here would be interested, but apparently, they are. We don’t just sell food and drink, but the service as well. We’re the only maid cafe in the district so it’s a pretty niche market.”

It wasn’t a bad idea, Taekwoon had to admit, but he wasn’t cute, no matter what Hakyeon said. He couldn’t see how he, of all people, could own a cafe that catered cute things.

Hakyeon was persistent, and Taekwoon was stubborn.

“Taekwoon, listen to me. One, you are the most adorable person on the planet, and two, you don’t need to live, breathe, eat and shit cute to sell cute. You have a degree in economics and marketing for crying out loud.”

“No.”

“Taek, you came to me for advice and I’m giv—”

“No, I mean, I’ll try the maid cafe idea but,” Hakyeon tilted his head in question, “it’s not going to be cute-themed. I’ll find something more fitting that I could pull off. It’ll be much better if I have a different theme anyway. You’re right across the street from me.”

Hakyeon hummed. “Well then, what theme do you think you’ll be going for?”

“A…tsundere theme?”

“What?” It was a completely backwards thought.

“Well, I’ve uh,” Taekwoon fidgeted with one of his left earrings, “seen people fall for characters who were quiet or cold in animes.”

“Taek, no one wants to keep going back to a place where people ignore or treat them rudely. That’s the complete opposite of customer service,” Hakyeon gestured with air quotes.

“I think it’d be successful. I mean, I could-I could try to make it work. I’ll just have to market it well. It fits me better…and it worked on you. You still keep pestering me after all these years, if that says anything.” Taekwoon mumbled the last bit under his breath.

Hakyeon didn’t know why he was so attuned to the way Taekwoon spoke so softly but where it was beneficial for him on all those other times, this time gave him an immense surge of panic.

“No!” Hakyeon protested his distress while Sandeul’s eyes looked like they had fallen out of his head. “I just— it would never work!” Multiple question marks shoved themselves into his thoughts but it was too late to save anything so he just went with it.

“But Hakye—”

“Listen to me! Things work out better when you do.” Oh, he had so much regret for opening his mouth, but he too had too much pride and was nowhere near ready to face his fears head-on. “You can try and see where it goes, but don’t say I didn’t tell you so.”

“Fine! We’ll see about that. I can thrive without being cute, just you watch.” Ever thick-headed and competitive Taekwoon stormed out of the cafe, not at all catching the way Hakyeon gulped, very obviously flustered.

And thus began the competition between the two maid cafes that shared the same street; but not to worry, without this competition, it would not be what it is today: a place for those who entered and left with laughter in their lungs, satisfied stomachs, lighter shoulders, and fuller hearts.

The thing about ads and promotion is that when you are a celebrity, you yourself become the ad, even when you don't want it. It is up to the audience if they actually buy it or not (no pun intended). I caught this small tibid about one of the BTS guys or who, who mentioned what kind of fabric softener he uses, and boom, sales went up and stores ran out of it, if I heard it correctly. Fans tend to do this, with or without actual advertisement. (1/2)

When Glee was still on and Fasion of Glee ran the tumblr account of all the clothes they wore on the show, or on RC, it was advertisement for the shops and designers - without them asking anyone to actually promote them. We as a fandom did it on our own. Advertisements only work as long as the audience buys them one way or the other. Like you could promote Mia's band to me as much as you want. If at the end of the day I'm not interested, they weren't able to sell it to me. (2/2)

This is an excellent point. Anything a celeb does becomes an advertisement regardless of whether it was an actual #sponsored post.

Personally, I don’t have an issue with a celeb promoting products if it is done judiciously and they are promoting quality products. Celebs have to pay bills too and they have to make sure their brand stays relevant. As Darren has mentioned many times, an actor is at the mercy of the people who make the shows- the producers, casting directors, and directors. He can only work as long as someone wants to hire him. Social media has created a way for actors to stay relevant in between jobs...or as relevant as they want to be and as their creativity allows.

Lea works hard on her online brand. She does Wellness Wednesday and she posts a lot about her spa days and trips to beautiful places. Darren has taken an entirely different approach. He attends events- something he would do anyway because he loves shows- he walks the carpet, gets his picture taken, goes to the after party where he can network. The photo he takes with the cast or on the carpet might end up in a gossip magazine or online gossip site or the show’s social media both give him exposure and keep his name out there. Chris barely has a social media. He uses his to promote his tour dates and book related things and a very occasional, unicorn-level personal photo.

Whose birthday did you last celebrate, and what did you do for it? My mom’s. Apart from the decorations my siblings and I placed around the house, I also ordered in Spanish food which she requested. There was a typhoon at the time so we couldn’t really go out.

Do you use an alarm to wake up in the morning, or can you wake up naturally? I can wake up naturally most of the time, but I would occasionally set my alarm if I’m feeling a little unconfident about waking up on time.

Do you use an electric or manual toothbrush? What colour is it? I haven’t had an electric toothbrush since I was like, 5. Mine is blue and white.

Any idea how many mobile phones you've owned, in total? My current one is my 8th, if I’m not mistaken. How long have you had the mobile phone that you currently use? 8 months.

Are your nails usually painted, or not? What colour did you paint them last? They’re never painted. My hands are quite restless in the first place, so nail polish wouldn’t last with me for more than a couple of days.

What brand is the shampoo/conditioner that you currently use? I use Dove shampoo, and my conditioner is a local brand.

How long was your last car journey, and where were you going? It was around an hour and a half. One of the longer trips we’ve taken recently since we went down south to visit my dad’s side.

Have you recently been in any store where music was playing? Did you know/like the song(s)? Well yes; idk how it is in other places but where I live, all stores constantly have some sort of music playing. Most recently I was in a milk tea place and I remember mouthing along to Closer by The Chainsmokers and Halsey. As for whether I like it, I mean it’s not my favorite track and it’s in none of my playlists but I’d hum or mouth to it, which is what I did.

When did you last encounter someone who seemed rude or unpleasant? An hour ago. My mom is in the middle one of her weird tantrums again and didn’t acknowledge my presence upon arriving home until I was the first one to say hi; even then, she seemed super stoic and curt. Funny though how I give less and less of a fuck every year.

^And what was it about their behaviour, that gave that impression? She couldn’t look at me and barely said a word. Unfortunately for her I have bigger things to worry about now, so I just proceeded to being cheery around my dad and siblings.

Do you use Goodreads? If so, what are some of the books on your 'Want To Read' list? I don’t use Goodreads and would never be able to touch my hypothetical account because I haven’t read in years.

Do you own anything that was from a vintage/antique shop? I don’t think so, no.

What are your favourite kinds of accessories to wear with an outfit? Never was a big accessory girl. I’d lose them all the time, if I was.

Has anyone ever bought you a gift with your name or initial on it? What was it? No, I think my friends know better than getting me something like that hahaha. I was never a fan of personalized anything.

What type of cuisine was served in the last restaurant you ate at? I want to say largely French...? Italian? Idk, they have a bit of everything though as far as I can tell.

^Would you recommend that restaurant to others? Why or why not? Sure! It’s at the 52nd floor, offers a spectacular view of the city, and they’ve got really attentive staff who’ll make you feel right at home.

What was the last type of dessert that you tried for the first time? Was it good? Randy’s Donuts. It was actually pretty amazing, yeah. I appreciate a good dense doughnut.

The last time you checked the mail, was there anything for you? Not technically ‘mail,’ but the last thing I had shipped to me was a copy of Hobi’s Jack in the Box.

Do you own anything that has an image of a unicorn on it? Nope.

Do you know anyone who is still in a relationship with their first love? Or are you lucky enough to be one of those people? Yeah, I do.

What kind of music did you listen to as a child/teenager? Do you still enjoy any of that kind of music now? I didn’t have much of a music taste until I was around Grade 6, which is when I started paying attention to punk rock – Rancid, H2O, The Misfits, Against Me!, that whole sound – mainly due to being a fan of CM Punk. I kept that up til around high school when my circle of friends grew and my music preferences changed to revolve more around indie and pop rock – so artists like Coldplay and Hozier.

I definitely still revisit punk from time to time; but I have moved on from the artists I listened to in high school (exempting Coldplay because why stop listening to them ever?) because the people who once introduced me to indie are no longer in my life.

Tell me a little about the last photo you liked/reacted to on social media. My friends’ Disneyland photos.

What was the last activity that you tried out for fun, but decided it wasn't for you? Good question. I’m...not sure, actually. I feel like I easily back out from things that I feel from the get-go wouldn’t work for me. I want to be sure I’m super into something first, or that I’m ok to get my feet wet in something unfamiliar, before making a decision; and I quickly say no if I already envision myself being miserable throughout hahaha. Like how I’d never be game for a game of basketball, even if it’s for funsies; or taking theater classes.

Do you have any alcoholic drinks in your fridge at the moment? Yeah we have a ton of wine, beer, and soju in there currently.

What is something that you like to do, to wind down before going to sleep? Put cooling ointment all over my arms and stomach hahahaha
