Ok just a head up this is gonna be VERY long cause I’m gonna yap a lot ( especially about Zane) but I hope u like it cause this took awhile to write

if you have any questions about this au you can ask me and I’ll gladly answer

Their group name is still in the works cause I can’t think of a name (pls suggest any it would be helpful)

but the group contains the main 6 and it goes in this order; Lloyd kai zane jay nya cole

all of them aren’t from Japan except Zane + lloyd and have moved there to follow their dreams and goals

Their sekai is called the monastery sekai (so basically just the monastery they live in)

The main vocaloids would be Miku and pixal ( I will explain that later) and all of them wear like traditional Japanese clothes ( Fundoshi and kimonos) the vocaloids just take care of the place and if needed help the ninja in any situations.

Kai smith:

After his parents, who were legendary singers disappeared one night, Kai had the goal to follow their footsteps and become a singer himself to continue their legacy

Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon:

Lloyd lives with his uncle wu due to his parents being very busy. He spends time learning how to play instruments with his uncle and felt a deep connection with music as a young child. Before he met his group he felt like an outcast but now he can be himself and truly belong

jay walker:

jay is an eccentric singer and inventor who wanted to bring smiles to everyone. He befriended Kai and Cole and joined them to become famous one day

Cole brookstone:

After growing up being forced to dance even though he didn’t want to. Cole gave up on his goals and wanted to find his own path, he then meets Kai who shows him to give a second chance and Cole slowly begins to enjoy music

nya smith:

An independent woman but also a little sister (to Kai) nya is often the one keeping everyone under control. Before joining, nya practiced playing the base and listened to nightcord and 25:00 she is a huge fan. She was very shy when moving to Tokyo so she mainly stayed inside. Now, nya is very confident as a singer and might have feelings for jay (Kai ofc bugs her about it)

Zane:

Zane is a mysterious person, he doesn’t tell anyone about his past and has many secrets. However that doesn’t change how kind he is to his friends! He helps jay with inventions and is amazing at singing (he practically sounds like one of the vocaloids with his voice) what he did before joining still remains a mystery. Even though he has many secrets there is one he is never going to tell…not a single soul

what’s that secret? Well Zane is actually a forgotten vocaloid that was made to rival miku and he is meant to destroyed since he was a failure. He was created by dr Julien and had the purpose to reach music to others like miku however…he could never do it. He tried over and over again but he could never reach anyone. There was also vex who was dr Julien’s partner who wanted Zane ( who was called project z at the time) destroyed for being a failure. Dr Julien said no to this and kept on convincing vex to give Zane a second chance until later Julien passed away. Vex saw his chance to destroy Zane for good cause all he cared about was gaining money and popularity but Zane was able to escape vex and headed far away from him…

Zane was tired and was about to break down, his body was bruised and damaged from running. Zane then turned off and accepted that he was dead. Until he woke up in a comfy house with someone, that someone was Rui, he was interested in seeing a robot in an alley and wanted to fix him, Zane was comfortable sharing his story to Rui but he didn’t care about his story, he just wanted to make sure he was okay. Rui did many inspections on Zane and realised that Zane needed a new body so Rui spent many nights making the perfect body for Zane. Even though Zane only knew him for a couple of days, he appreciated Rui for his kindness. Zane then went to his new body ( I’ll draw the au designs soon) and the body even had a cloaking feature so he could fit in with other people. Zane didn’t want to go out to public with his metallic skin so it would be easier for him to not be noticed (especially if vex is looking for him) after a few weeks Rui let zane attend kamiyama high school and that’s when he met nya and she introduced Zane to the rest of group. Zane was shy at first but then started acting like himself to them. He doesn’t ever plan on telling them he is an ex-vocaloid but so far things have went well for him. He didn’t know however that vex knew exactly where he was but wanted to catch Zane when he is at his best…

so that’s all the info ( I kinda gave a lot sorry)

but anyways here are their roles:

Kai is the main singer, nya plays the electric guitar, jay does sound effects to make the songs more fun, Cole does the choreography, Lloyd does the lyrics and Zane is support and helps everyone.

now about pixal, she is the latest official vocaloid and is only on the monastery sekai, she is like a sister to most of the ninja but she has a special connection with Zane, she doesn’t know why but he just seems familiar in some way.

What would happen if, at the merge, Cam landed with Cole?

Or! Or what if on the street! (Maybe Arin and Sora finding her!!)

How would both scenarios change Jesse's and Coles story arc? Without knowing what happened to Cole and Cam, would he have a Villain arc or just leave to find them? Would Cole still stay with the finders? Would their dynamic change, or would Cole leave if he had Cam with her? How would older Cam feel about both parents or just Jesse, depending on which route?

What a fascinating inquiry. We really wanna just shred the last of Jesse's joy, don't we? :D

Cam Landing in the Street (lmao): If Cam isn't found immediately, then things don't look good for her... (as she is only two-and-a-half at the time), but if an already-pretty-young-themselves-at-the-time Arin and Sora find her, well...both of them combined might be able to successfully raise a child. All they have to go off of is that she's the current Inheritor of Surprise cuz of the eyes, but due to not knowing Cam's special circumstances, they're led to believe that finding her parents is next-to-impossible, since Surprise normally isn't passed on hereditarily.

...so of course, surprises being what they are, five years later this eventually winds her back into the care of Lloyd (who ofc would panic at the implications of this). He'd take Cam on as a student too but bump finding Jesse to the top of his priorities, but....if Jesse believed he'd failed to protect his only daughter (the last thing Cole asked of him, no less), I dunno how he'd live with that guilt for five years man, that's a lot to ask him of all people :V

How would this change Jesse's and Coles story arc?– Cole's wouldn't change, as he'd still stay with the Finders since they'd needed someone to protect them from the Hoarder + his belief that he landed in the LoLT due to the fact there is no one out there for him to find, therefore he believes he has no reason to go look. Jesse, meanwhile, wouldn't have Cam or Cole to keep on fighting for, and the only thing that would stop him from completely spiraling is if he still manages to find Miranda. But without Cam, he wouldn't have the power to stop any of the Mergequakes that happen nearby, meaning he would have to keep traveling around anyway to stay safe + wouldn't be able to meet up with Lloyd in the same way that I'd planned, so it'd take him waaaay longer to get to the Monastery

Without knowing what happened to Cole and Cam, would he have a Villain arc or just leave to find them? - In this scenario, Jesse would either be wandering the Realms on his own trying to find any sign of them, or he tag teams with Harleigh on her travels to try and look (resulting in constantly just missing them or the other Ninja or something), as the only reason Lloyd finds Jesse in the DR!Jesse events is because Jesse stays in one place (Ninjago City Ruins). But in this scenario, he's so desperate to find a sign of his family that in a cruel fit of irony he keeps missing the mark.

How would older Cam feel about both parents or just Jesse - Cam wouldn't know a thing about either parent, as Jesse wouldn't have been around to explain about Cole + obviously wasn't in Jesse's custody to begin with, and she wouldn't have any sort of knowledge until Lloyd takes her in, and by then it's kinda too late for any real attachment to form without seeing them face to face. When Cole finally returns she can't even be that excited about it (think Nya with her parents) and that shatters Cole (yet doubles down on his choice to go off again to protect Bonzle), while by the time (if) they find Jesse, Jesse might as well be a complete stranger to her. But on the positive side, she's got some very good siblings in Arin and Sora! <3

(But all in all I don't see this scenario being all too feasible in either direction snksgjkfdkgkfds)

Cam Landing With Cole: Or, as I like to call it, Finder!Cam route snksnksskn

Whee happy-go-lucky au where Cam gets to stay with her Papa, meets a nice purple man who vibes perfectly with aforementioned Papa, and gets the siblings she's always wanted in the form of a bird, snake, and skeleton (doubling down in her insistence that she must be a unicorn). Because Jesse didn't end up with Cam (as Cole believes there's no way he'd have let her go unless the worst has happened), Cole still thinks Jesse is dead, and thus resolves to integrate Cam into his new little family and all is nice and good and fine even with a mechanical monster attacking every so often and the days being a little too monotonous, repetitive, and predictable for a Master of Surprise, but nevermind all that <3

Cam doesn't ask about Jesse much, though, and Cole doesn't bring him up much either, trying to save Cam some pain and resolves to move on with his life.

Jesse, whenever he may be, doesn't.

How would this change Jesse's and Coles story arc? - Cole now has Cam as a top priority, and as she is a constant reminder of Jesse's existence, that makes him somewhat more hesitant around Geo, but they still wind up as close as they are in canon. Cole isn't nearly as guilt-ridden about missing anything with Cam this time around since, obviously, he was the one that raised her, but unlike Cole in 'canon', Jesse had been constantly looking all those years and is made to feel like all his searching was pointless since everyone was basically thriving despite The Merge taking away quite literally everything of Jesse's (so he's a little bitter). The only reason Jesse manages to rejoin with the others in this scenario is because he runs into Harleigh while he's meandering around and she tips him off about the Ninja's resurgence sometime after Season 1, leaving Jesse to make a beeline for the Monastery and arriving just in time for Cole and the Finders to come tumbling out of the gate.

Without knowing what happened to Cole and Cam, would he have a Villain arc or just leave to find them? - Jesse finding out both his husband and daughter have been alive and dandy living with an entirely different family for five years while he's been miserably alone on the verge of death with worry about them? And that some other random guy has been raising his daughter that he gave up everything for?! Mmmmmmit's not gonna be a good first impression. I won't say 'villain' arc but I imagine he's more...antagonistic here at first lololololololol Cam: Sheesh Papa who's that weird pink guy screaming so much? Jesse: EXCUSE ME I MADE YOU!!!!!!!! Cam: Mmmmm doesn't ring a bell

How would older Cam feel about both parents or just Jesse- Cam winds up as close with Cole as she is with Jesse in the 'actual' turn of events (because no matter what timeline Cole is a good parent), but because she would've also been raised by Geo, she's not exactly lacking for another parent ahaha (especially not one that suddenly comes in yelling in justified outrage but trying to take her away from everything she's come to know). There's probably a whole "nature vs nurture" thing going on when it comes to her custody, but once he has time to calm down and like, process everything, Jesse ultimately chooses Cam's and Cole's happiness over his own in whatever form that may take as he would've done anyway, and if that means they stay with the Finders, then so be it. If he felt there wasn't a place for him at the monastery anymore though (against Lloyd's insistence otherwise), he'd probably just leave to make things less complicated for everybody (as even in the 'canon' events he debates on whether he should've even come back at all........) But, the last thing he's gonna do is force somebody into doing something they're not gonna be happy with.

(Semi-Unrelated but far less angsty, I hc that in this scenario that Geo is the one who gives Cam her lil scarf, which she calls her "Findering" scarf and she always has to go scavenging with it for good luck <3)

Most of my main OCs have elements! There are three (Willow, Jonathan, and Kyle, though the latter changes as of DR) who don't but otherwise we have

Nataly, Master of Love

Jackie, Master of Magic

Hannah, Master of Music

Luna, Master of Dreams

Ivy, Master of Wind

And Master Twyla, Master of Light! (Not related to Paleman)

Their introductions are scattered throughout the seasons, but the basic breakdown is

S2: Jackie is introduced as a member of Garmadon's Stone Warrior Army who's a human. At the end of that season, she's pulled out of the rubble of a building and goes to study with Garmadon

S3: Jasmine is semi-introduced as a background character at Borg Industries, though she's not plot relevant yet. Jonathan is introduced as Borg's son but also isn't super plot relevant yet, he has his own adventure which is technically where we meet Willow

S4: Roxie, Nataly, Hannah, and Kyle are all introducing on the boat ride to Chen's, as well as Jackie and Jasmine. Roxie knows Cole from Marty Oppenheimer's, Lloyd and Garmadon recognize Jackie (who between S3 and S4 started studying under Master Twyla, a former friend of Garmadon's, as well), and everyone kind of recognizes Jasmine as someone from Borg Industries. At the end of the season, Twyla joins the EMs in the Corridor of Elders to fight. Prior to this she's only been mentioned by her students and a little by Garmadon

S5: Ivy is introduced when the ninja go to Ronin's pawn shop! She's Ronin's partner in crime and while she's there she and Nya form a strong bond too (daughters of Wojira my beloved)

No one is introduced in S6 or S7 really

S8: Luna is introduced by Harumi during Garmadon's resurrection. After it's presumed failure, she's taken to go stay with the Ninja

S15: putting Willow here too bc this is when she's introduced to the Ninja at large during the fight with the Overlord 3.0. until now she's been chilling in the woods with occasional visits from Jonathan

Ofc having all of the relationships would be a bit messy but her are the basic breakdowns:

Nataly: she and Kai have a pretty close bond, partially forged on annoying the shit out of each other. Similarly, she and Lloyd bond a lot over complicated family situations (Nataly is Pythors's daughter, if that tells you anything) and also an innate sense of whimsy. Her related w the other ninja is pretty good! Aside from various pranks she's pulled on them

Roxie: she and Cole are really close and used to be best friends at Marty Oppenheimer's! I've made a post about their friendship before and if I can find it later I'll link it. She's also really close w Nya and I personally believe they have 3am conversations about femininity and womanhood that look like that one painting of Aristotle and the other guy. Gender studies minors after an exhaustive study sesh type jazz

Jasmine: uh. Complicated. She gets along great w Nya and Jay for a while due to a shared love of mechanics and inventing but she develops some more complicated feelings that lead to her shooting those relationships in the foot. She also discovers in S8 that she's Julien's daughter and thus Zane's sister but there is a veil of family drama over that entire thing, so that relationship barely manifests and becomes tense even after Zane finds out. She and Pixal get along amazing though. There's been no time to ruin that.

Jackie: she's probably the second closest to most of the ninja, but particularly Kai, Nya, and Lloyd. She and Kai are kinda like siblings. Often if a situation is full of Some Bullshit, they'll exchange a glance before diving in. They're like a pair in a buddy cop movie. Her and Nya are training together and I think would get along well by virtue of being insane tryhards. Her and Lloyd are really close after S4 and are the partners in crime to her and Kai's buddy cop movie. She develops a crush on him around the Oni Trilogy, but doesn't act on it because well. Oni Trilogy events. He starts reciprocating around the post-S11 pre-S12 era but they don't do anything about it til undetermined time (probably sometime pre-Seabound or post-Crystallized, they are definitely officially a couple as of Dragons Rising).

Hannah: Keeps to herself and her team but she and Cole get along pretty well. They share an appreciation for music, though she's a performer and Cole's not, so they mostly talk about artists they enjoy and he might help her hash them of her own work out. They're chill friends. She has this semi-antagonistic, semi-they just like to talk shit with each other, relationship with Kai. She's very tempermental and likes to call out his antics. Kai thinks it's kinda funny when she's mad about dumb shit so he purposefully pushes her buttons. It's like rats play wrestling. She and Kai and Skylor are in a triad (she's in a romantic relationship w Kai and a QPR with Skylor, Skylor and Kai are also in a romantic relationship) post-Crystallized. I would go into her relationship w/ Skylor bc there's a lot of backstory there, but this post is long enough as is.

Kyle: Mostly hangs around Jay and Cole. Third wheeling. He referees their Face2Fist matches to make sure no one is cheating. They're like... bros is the best way I can describe it. He and Kai are also pretty amicable on account of both getting the Older Brother Special Edition experience (orphans) and Kai hangs around Chen's, where Kyle works bc he and Skylor are actually besties

Luna: Her and Jay are nerding out over comics something fierce. I think she and him would host Jackbox nights for the team to boost morale too. She and Lloyd have a semi-tense relationship at first bc of the circumstances of their reunion but post-S10 they have a very "one is doing something very impulsive and stupid and the other is egging them on" sibling relationship. She would get him back into comics and also they'd do pinball tournaments at arcades that aren't about winning just about beating each other

Ivy: is kind of peripheral, but she and Nya get really close during S5 and stay in contact. They sit on the edge of a creek and skip stones while talking about random shit. Ivy brings her scrap for projects and Nya has to side eye her like "did you steal this" and Ivy never gives her a straight answer. I think she and Cole would get along too, funnily enough. They're just similar enough in their defiant rebellion that I think they could hold a respect for each other that manifests in sitting in the same room, quietly, working on projects and occasionally helping each other out. Ivy and Lloyd have a bond over bitching about Morro.

Jonathan: he and cole are vibing in a room together except Jonathan has no idea how to talk to him and so is nervously making small talk. Cole thinks he's neat and likes to hear him ramble about the various mechanical projects he's working on. They'd also bond about their dads. Jonathan feels like he has to live up to the Borg name and make his father proud (he already has, but anxiety's a bitch) and Cole gets that. He and Pixal are also practically siblings and are tight as hell. Between S7 and S8 he was def helping her w her Samurai X stuff.

Willow: she actually doesn't have relationships with the ninja! As said she's kind of a peripheral character who only interacts with Jonathan and her characterization and story rests within that bubble. If I were to let her out I think she and Wu actually would get along the best, which is a cop out, but there's something about feeling like the fate of the world is upon your shoulders and one wrong step will cause everything to come crashing that makes a silent shared cup of tea the most meaningful interaction you might ever have

Master Twyla: she's closer to Misako and Wu by virtue of those being her friends and comrades before, but I think she views the ninja as like. peripheral students. she's not their teacher and doesn't act like it but those are her kids in the same way the others are yk? She would see their parents in them but also feels a sense of pride at their own strengths and is happy to be someone they can talk to. I think she'd have a particular soft spot for Lloyd because she was closer to the Spin Bros and Misako so in another life that's her godchild

Okay so I was thinking about ToE and had ideas to add for my Not Today Destiny AU(tl:dr, Kai keeps Lloyd’s Green Ninja status secret from everyone and how canon is affected from there)

Also, before we get into it, because there was no Overlord messing with tech, THERE IS NO LOVE TRIANGLE! I am fully subscribed to the theory that the Overlord messed with it in order to split the team up, and it’s stupid that it worked. So no Love Triangle and no Jay Cole Fight. That’s important later.

ANYWAY, with Zane not dead they’d be a bit less desperate to go to the island, and without that incentive of keeping quiet they’d probably immediately go talk to Wu about this weird invite and the fact that other Elemental Masters existed.

Wu would fill them in, explain how Chen was definitely up to something, which has them all go in the first place, and Nya and Wu agree to stay behind to watch Lloyd and defend against Garmadon.

How does this exactly tie into this AU? Well, there were two extra letters sent, one to Kai and Lloyd respectively.

Lloyd’s letter explained how he was also being invited, and if he won he would be awarded some info about his mom. Lloyd knows the ninja would never let him go, so he opts to sneak there and then explain. Better to ask apologies than permission. But don’t worry, he left a note for Nya and Wu

Meanwhile, Kai’s explains how they have found knowledge of who the Green Ninja is, and if he wins he’ll get that info and can do whatever he wants with it.

These two are connected and also important later.

They go to the boat, Nya gets them some hidden trackers to be safe, Kai is secretly freaking out since “How the heck does Chen know???” and then Lloyd sneaks on too. Now, at first everyone just thinks Lloyd is just really short and keeps to himself. It’s not until they land and get to the main room that it finally clicks to Kai that it’s Lloyd when Chen points him out as the Master of Energy.

He of course, is very not happy that Lloyd is here and makes that very well known. The other ninja are equally unhappy while the rest of the EM’s are given a slight Moral Dilemma since yes they want to win, but that means there’s a chance of them fighting a literal child(it’s been….almost a year since they first met Lloyd so he’s about 10 right now).

Lloyd’s room is next to Kai’s, just on the other side so he still shares a balcony space with Skylor. Maybe one of the other EM’s finds Lloyd desperately looking for a Jade Blade and “accidentally” drops it so he can pass.

Later when Karlof is dropped through the floor more than a few cast a glance over to Lloyd, each silently dreading who will have to go against him. Nobody comments when Kai holds Lloyd close and if anyone saw Lloyd sneaking into Kai’s room that night, they didn’t say anything.

It’s that night when Lloyd explains why he came, which makes Kai panic even more. On one hand, he cannot let anyone else find out about Lloyd’s Destiny. But on the other….Lloyd could finally get answers for what happened to his mom unlike Kai who has no idea what happened to his parents

So yeah. Not a fun time.

But it only gets worse from there.

You see, at first each of the ninja let out a silent sigh of relief when they learned they wouldn’t have to fight Lloyd.

Wellllllllll since there’s no Love Triangle and no fighting between Cole and Jay, Chen has no reason to pit them against each other to further split up the ninja.

What he does instead? Changes things so instead it’s Kai vs Lloyd

Now, it’s plainly obvious to everyone that those two are very close, so they’re not looking froward to this next fight at all. Camille honestly isn’t sure if this is better or worse than if she had to go against him

At first, their fight is mostly a verbal one, trying to get the other to take the Jade Blade, with only the occasionally very wide shot to try and herd the other toward the Blade. At some point Kai ends up physically picking up Lloyd and trying to carry him over to the Jade Blade, yelling about how Lloyd has a chance to find his mom and he shouldn’t that up, but Lloyd is fighting him and immediately yells back that he doesn’t want to find her at the cost of his Big Brother and god if that isn’t a knife in the heart of the other EMs.

But Chen, being the bastard he is, decides this is boring because it’s going no where and release the bikes like canon, and then these two fight like a well oiled machine. 

But ofc, we can’t have nice things and the arena starts falling apart.

And Kai….as much as he’s terrified of Lloyd’s Destiny, he even more terrified of loosing Lloyd.

So with a bright smile and a good luck wish, he jumps.

That night when Chen takes away their rooms as punishment, none of them can be mad. They don’t comment either when the remaining ninja drag two of the bunk beds together a curl up around Lloyd. Instead of splitting them apart, it only lets them know that Chen is not their friend. He sees all of this as a game, going as far as to lure a child here with promises of finding his mother and making him fight the family he has left. 

This actually makes their Elemental Alliance work out better this time.

(Also this time Jay fought Ash, then Cole fought Camille(I’m also 99% sure the skating thing was just another attempt to split them up, so again it’s kinda useless here).

Meanwhile Kai does not have a fun time. Clouse is upset since 1) the plan was for Lloyd to be the one to loose, either by Kai winning or making Lloyd fall, since because he’s the green ninja he’s bound to be powerful and 2) because Skylor got attached to this stranger and Chen ordered him to make Kai useful to them. So now he’s trying to keep a very annoying, very loud prisoner while waiting from the Master of Mind to be captured so he can use those powers to make Kai more docile.

Unfortunately, a side affect of Kai being as loud and obnoxious as possible means he spends a lot of his time knocked out, so he has no idea how long he’s been stuck under or if any of his family are stuck under here too. At the very least he shares a wall with Karlof who tries his best to fill him in(when he learns who Kai was made to fight he also gets pretty pissed).

Later when they’re all dropped from the plane, all of them are quick to make sure Lloyd has a parachute. This time the objective is to a “Safe Zone,” but there’s only enough for four of them. However, the Safe Zones are, unsurprisingly, traps and there’s enough for everyone. Once you step in one, it descends, then vengestone cuffs fly out and trap the Master inside.

Skylor ends up finding Lloyd and offers to help him look for one. They end up talking and joking, Lloyd saying how Kai has an enormous crush on her and kept trying to impress her, but Lloyd thought she was good and would like Kai if they didn’t need to fight each other, which accidentally slams her with guilt. 

Some how she ends up slipping, maybe by accidentally revealing how she knows the locations/number of traps and Lloyd realizes she’s the spy which crushes him. He tries to fight her but she just pushed him onto the trap.

Going to the small cult area below, the remaining EMs are brought together. They try their best to keep Lloyd protected but he’s brought to the front anyway. Lloyd asks if they even knew about his mom, to which Chen reminisces about a woman they meet a few years ago who was stealing from them and how they stole some of her things, but they were mostly worthless. They honestly have no idea where she is, which just makes Lloyd mad.

Mad these people tricked him. Mad these people had the audacity to pretend to know his mom. Mad these people made Kai sacrifice himself for him.

However, they weren’t lying About having met Misako. That’s actually how they found out about the whole “Lloyd Being The Green Ninja” thing

But anyway. Chen steals their powers, Skylor is having a moral dilemma, and they start getting ready to Make Trouble in the Noodle Factory

Only this time when they go to steal the staff, they now have to fight Kai.

Only this time for real.

This is the replacement for the Staff Scene. Because of his affect under the Staff Kai…..isn’t really there. Like, he’s just a blank puppet. There’s the tiniest amount of emotion, but his eyes look empty.

At some point the staff goes flying and it turns into a mental tug of war between Clouse commanding Kai and Lloyd and the others trying to get through to him. Lloyd is luckily able to get to Kai enough for him to smash the jewel, releasing the EM powers and the control on him. It gives him the worst headache though.

And from there, canon is mostly the same for a while. The whole time this has been going on Zane has been having dreams/nightmares about an Ice Dragon and finally makes the connection to unlock it. Skylor is still captured, Chen still escapes but now Clouse is still around, Pythor is captured, TIME FOR THE END

This time around, the EMs are able to follow Chen to their base of operations and have the final battle there. They fight, and even though they’re only partially Anacondrai, they’re still hard to fight.

Clouse tries to do the whole “Banish You To the Departed Realm” thing, but accidentally summons the Anacondrai Generals as well, who are very not happy over what these humans are doing.

And yeah. That’s what I got.

I might do more in depth posts for some of the other seasons, not sure. But feel free to ask or submit ideas of your own

I’m back with another au idea

Au where the Ninja aren’t Ninja, but instead 4 very gay dudes with a even gayer sister finding out they have elemental powers and they end up saving everyone, pretty much Raising Lloyd and forming a team with the other elemental masters, All without Wu being vauge and beating them up during March of the Oni

aight, im making a reason for them to meet without Wu recruiting them all so that this au can happen ✨✨✨

Ok, so their elemental powers all started to show up at arround the same time (appart from Nya though hers do come into this, we aren’t leaving her out until s5 like canon), but the other 4 ofc were really confused, and all reacted in different ways, though all ended up meeting at that weird mountain place from Cole’s backstory, and i’ll explain why

-Zane went there because the cold made his powers stronger and he thought that was cool and the mountain place was snowy so y not, also Zane definitely wanted to have an elsa moment™️

-Kai went there (and took Nya with him) because he was scared of the powers and hoped all the ice and snow would stop things arround him setting on fire (and it did, at first........ 🙂)

-Cole used it as an excuse to get away from his Dad and also discovered that being near the mountains made his powers stronger because of all the rocks and stuff before, it was similar to canon

-Jay was there testing his inventions, it was his glider like in canon, also similar to Kai, he was avoiding accepting that he had elemental powers and so he threw himself into working on that instead

They meet when Cole saves Jay with his powers after he straight up jumped off the mountain in order to test the glider, the others see what happened and they’re like ‘wtf you have powers? Thats so cool, what a coincidence, same 🤩’

At some point after this but before Lloyd shows up, Nya discovers her abilities after Kai nearly drowns and her powers kick in as a way to save him (also yes this is why hes afraid of water in later seasons, also yes Nya does get her s5 moment of struggling to control water, but for this it was her trying to learn to do it on command instead of just in life/death situations)

K so onto Lloyd, I honestly dont know, i’ll be back later with an explanation of how they end up adopting him unless anyone else got any ideas 👀

So since everyone seems to be a fan of this au, I’m gonna make content for it. This is my personal list of headcanons on what the ninja were like as not quite human children, through to joining the team.

Zane

Wasn’t really a child, but in the early days after he’d been built he sure acted like one

He gets built when Dr Julien’s a lot older in this au

Julien sends him to school but because Zane looks like a teen he sends him to a high school where they have to deal with Zane acting like a five-year-old

Zane matures at a normal human rate, and he grows up a bit after Echo is created because Older Brother Insticts

Zane was smart and mostly well-behaved, he quickly learnt to stick up for his quieter brother

After Julien dies the two decide they can’t bear living in the same house anymore so they leave

Zane is like. twelve. Echo is ten. They don’t know what they’re doing

At one point there’s some sort of accident (maybe a fire?) that causes them to loose their synthetic skin, people trust them a lot less after that

Eventually Sensei Wu finds them and recruits them, they’re pretty grateful because people were reluctant to help them due to their appearance

Jay

Jay isn’t in school long after his ‘accident’ but BOI

Those months were some of the worst of his life

Kids wouldn’t go near him, teachers didn’t trust him and parents complained about him all the time

He tried to hide his serpentine features using scarves and stuff but other kids (and sometimes teachers) would rip them off just to shame him

What made it worse was that whenever he was scared (which happened a lot) he would ‘play dead’ by lying on the floor and lolling his tongue out (it’s an actual thing snakes do look it up)

Eventually it got so bad that his parents decided to homeschool him

Jays obviously quieter and shyer in this au due to his upbringing and bad experiences with people

When he was a teenager his dad lost his job due to injury so he had to go into the city to get a job

That went as well as could be expected

Sensei Wu found him sleeping in a gutter

Needless to say, after recruiting Jay Wu made sure to send money over to the Walkers regularly

Cole

After getting turned into a ghost Cole kinda just went off and did his own thing

Occasionally attended lessons (invisible ofc) but I mean

If a ten-year-old is given the chance to not go to school

they’ll take it

He spent more time on practicing his ghostly abilities and getting fit

Also I’ve decided that he’s gonna look like a kid until he unlocks his true potential, that idea belongs to @roxyray28 thank you so much!!!

His first meeting with the other Ninja is awkward to say the least, partly because he hasn’t talked to anybody in years, partly because he looks like a nine year old but mostly because he’s a ghost

He’s mostly in control of his powers but sometimes when he’s in a bad mood he’ll emit this... aura

Basically everyone in the room can feel this presence and they just know it’s not right

At first it scares the Ninja but eventually they get used to it, and even find it comforting

He’s a pretty tame kid but when he gets mad,,, ooh boy,,,,

Let’s just say you don’t want a ghost pissed off at you

Kai

After Kai gets like,,,, cursed or whatever, his behaviour changes slightly

While he can look functionally human, a lot of kids knew there was something off about him

Teachers just immeadiately wrote him off as a ‘problem child’

He acted pretty hostile towards anyone he didn’t know, but as soon as he became your friend that was it, he’s there for you through thick and thin

Betrayal was a very hard concept for him, he doesn’t understand why you would go through all the trouble to befriend someone and gain their trust if you were just gonna hurt them

VERY protective, like even more protective than he is in the show

When Jay asked if Nya was hot he legitimately nearly ripped him to shreds

Nya often had to hold Kai back from attacking people because I don’t care how strong you are try fighting a fucking dragon

At first he despised his dragon form but eventually grew to accept it and even love it

Also learnt that he could transform into a half-dragon so that’s cool

There’s his Halloween costume sorted for the next few years

I might add on some Nya and Lloyd headcanons once I decide what they are, much love to everyone!!

I DREW THE NINJA AS PIRATES AND IT TURNED INTO AN AU HELP

more... info on the basics of the au under the cut...

in this au lloyd's been an orphan his whole life, assumed his parents were dead or didn't want him or something

until one day when he encounters this old pirate guy who. knows him by name?? oh yeah and his name's wu or whatever. he says he's lloyd's uncle? he sailed with lloyd's father, but they accidentally unleashed this evil curse on his father?? and now this guy thinks lloyd can help him or whatever. totally wack. 

but then he? has this ring that matches a green one lloyd has and lloyd's like holy shit he might not be completely lying and also loves the idea of adventure so ends up going with it 

also this wu guy's got a ship, the Destiny's Bounty, so, hey, at least it's better than sitting around being an orphan

along the way they end up recruiting kai and nya. see, their situation is similar to will turner's in the first pirates of the caribbean movie (if you've seen it?), in that kai's a swordsmith, knows his parents were supposed to be like, great sailors, but were lost at sea. strong Moral Code, thinks pirates are lawless scoundrels or whatever. yknow.

but nya knows a little more than that. their parents were pirates. she has two rings (which happen to match lloyd and wu's, but she doesn't realize that until she sees them walk by on the docks and decides to stow away on their ship), and knows they have some sort of connection to pirates. 

she's also sort of maybe kind of secretly a pirate herself. the dread pirate X, feared criminal who's known for committing a series of plunders then vanishing for months. kai's never exactly asked how they've kept the family business open despite how terrible they are at it

so she spots the rings, decides to stow away on the destiny's bounty and figure out what they actually mean

except. problem. kai's been following her. and pretty quickly gives them both away. wu's about to throw them overboard, but then nya shows him the rings and they end up as part of the crew

see, the rings are from the members of the original crew of garmadon and wu's father (AKA THE PREVIOUS GEN OF ELEMENTAL MASTERS; also in this au the fsm is more of a legendary pirate than a. possible god like in canon), they're all different colors (matching the ninja's associated color in canon ofc) with a dragon engraved on the stone

wu and garm also have rings (gold and purple, naturally) and know they can identify the crew/their descendants 90% of the time by possession of the ring 

sometimes rings get stolen, but, yknow. they can kinda tell usually, like in kai and nya's case of looking so much like their parents 

and then wu ofc knows lloyd, garmadon only left him because there was one last huge treasure he was going after

which has ended up taking way longer than expected. and then he went and got cursed and now he's evil! get your life together, garm

cole ends up joining the crew while running away from home to escape being sent to music school by his dad

runs into the "ninja" at the docks, and they immediately notice his ring and offer to let him sail with them to avoid school. which he's like, SURE that sounds great!!

meawhile. so zane's still a robot in this au, which is very important

dr. julien built him with a similar purpose, to protect others, and didn't have like a "memory switch" or whatever for zane, so when he was later kidnapped zane remembered. and he? blames pirates, because who else is it going to be? pirates were always attacking their lighthouse, and pillaging towns, they're just always behind everything!

so he goes out with a feeling of pirates kidnapped my dad but still that main objective of protecting others. what's the best way to do both? 

oh, join the navy, duh. so by the time he meets the other ninja and wu, he's very anti-pirate, pro law and order, a protector of the people, and decently high-ranking in the navy

and he encounters a crew of pirates at the dock?? that's super illegal, amongst other things, and he's not going to stand for it! problem is, they've already started to leave. so, logically, the best thing is to pull a suspiciously piratey maneuver, board their ship, and try to commandeer it!

  .... except, it doesn't quite go as planned, because he's super outnumbered, and he kinda ends up along for the ride

he begrudgingly agrees to work with them (nothing directly illegal, but helping will make it go faster) until the adventure's over, at which point they've agreed to drop him back off somewhere the navy has jurisdiction and he'll arrest them there, but he's not telling them that

over the course of the high seas adventure, though, he maybe kinda ends up befriending them. they're not the Evil Pirates Who Kidnap Fathers™, he finds, which maybe makes them acceptable when they're not attacking ports and stuff

also, they seem to have rings that match the one he has?? what's up with that?? he finds out eventually, and maybe decides to stick around for another adventure or two around the same time

hey, the navy wasn't getting him any closer to finding his dad, right? whereas half of them seem to be in the same boat (pun intended) of missing parents so.... maybe they'll help?

and then jay was just Being Jay and, similar to canon with the mechanical wings he was testing, an invention he was testing kind of goes wrong and he lands on their ship.... but his invention's broken, so he's kinda stuck there indefinitely. and gets swept up in the piracy and treasure, and, well,

report: haikyuu!! summer week day 5 part 1 (shinka no natsu)

previously: day 1 (shoen) day 2 (itadaki no keshiki) day 3 (karasuno, fukkatsu!!) day 4 (shousha to haisha)

guests: kagechan, fucchi, shouri, takumi

(...the haikyuu day event sure did wipe everything else from my brain, wow. but. i'll do my best...!)

so when the cast first ran out, shouri wasn't there – he just hung back without telling anyone because kagechan kept looking back at the wings and cracking up and takumi looked like he wanted to die. this was, of course, so that after kagechan welcomed the audience to haikyuu summer week, shouri could stroll out dramatically and say "HEY, YOUR SENPAI IS HERE. your senpai in this event. and in haikyuu. your senpai." ok shouri.

kagechan was nominally the MC and he did an impressive job fighting the black hole of attention that is kondou-kun for control. XD but... shouri: who's the MC anyway kagechan: it's me?? it's obviously me? fucchi: i mean, we don't know yet. shouri: i was the MC for karasuno fukkatsu so i'll kindly let one of you first-timers do it – takumi, you want to MC right? takumi: ……...yeah………sure…….... shouri: he does. i can see it in his face.

then they did janken and fucchi won so he briefly took over, just long enough to skip to the end of the script – "how did you all enjoy the screening today??" kagechan: this is as far as we rehearsed.

during cheer practice we did shouri's dumb high school cheer again. for him. not kuroo. XD

when we practiced the "volleyball, haikyuu" bit they briefly mentioned how strong the impact of adding "ue wo miageru" was – i think it was shouri maybe? who said that when first reading the script it jumped right out at him and made him like, reflexively want to look at the ceiling. ...and that the returning cast kept messing up in rehearsal, for a while there would always be several people who forgot to say "ue wo miageru" and went straight to "kyuugi de aru", lol.

and shouri ALMOST got us to do his "nyan nyanya nyan nyan nyan" cheer for nekoma, he got all the way through explaining it to everyone else, and telling us that he'd gotten whistled off for it the other day, and asking the ref for permission, and through one round of tobe tobe karasuno / hey hey fukuro / ike ike nekoma nya nya-- ...and got whistled off. XD

meanwhile, takumi kept sliding off toward the edge of the stage and shouri would be like "GET BACK HERE" and pull him into the middle. and then get distracted harassing someone and takumi would slide away again. much like with naoki, he got pulled into doing a lot more choreo than he would have otherwise simply by virtue of being in proximity to shouri, lol. (i heard the girls behind me at hajimari no kyojin that night laughing about "poor higashi-kun", haha.) only whereas naoki played the straight man aloud, takumi just silently, like, grinned and bore it.

having said that, during the screening shouri was obviously Peak Shouri, but hilariously enough he TIRED HIMSELF OUT by running around so much so i actually don't think it was as over the top as karasuno fukkatsu.

specifically, it was the scenes at coach ukai's that killed him, he and takumi came out as the elementary school kids bouncing around and acting super dumb and then shouri started running around doing every one of the tempos and eventually he had to like, wipe his face and lean over and brace himself he was breathing so hard. shouri u noodle.

takumi also made shouri act out bokuto's part so he could be konoha. it was cute, the way they were careful to respect that it was kouki on screen but that takumi took over the role later without making it seem awkward or unnatural. like during the bit where bokuto yells "the moment you think you can hit a strong spike, that's your chance" -- "kyouretsu na ippatsu ga uteru to omotta shunkan ga...kouki!" -- shouri jumped up and yelled "KOUKI!!!!" along with him and jabbed his finger excitedly at the screen. he brought it up in the aftertalk too. "HAHA IT WAS SO FUNNY TO SEE KOUKI YELLING HIS OWN NAME. :D"

ok back to the beginning tho. unsurprisingly, they had a lot of fun with the hamlet scene – kagechan's timing for running out, lifting his hand slowly, and reciting "SOSHITE, YOKUASA" was BEAT perfect, it got a massive laugh from the audience.

for the opening, they all did their own parts of course – fucchi running out to yell "KIYOKO-SAN" was a joy to behold – but shouri also did sarukui, hips and all, which was sure Something.

when takechan came out to explain the "school rules", shouri literally just galloped across the stage and disappeared into the wings opposite, it was like he couldn't bear to be off stage. XD at first fucchi was as bouncy as shouri, doing all the choreo and super star rolling thunder etc, but eventually he calmed down and sat there watching the screening super seriously, sometimes he was the only one out there.

meanwhile, the ladies made their first appearance! let me tell you, you have never seen such a group of fangirls over saeko/kiyoko-san, i thought everyone in the audience was gonna literally swoon at saeko's first appearnce. self included, obvs. (ofc everyone loved yacchan but that was more of a "you're adorable" and less of a "please wreck me" vibe.) it was also extremely satisfying to yell "akaaaAAAAshi" in one's best bokuto voice along with one thousand other people. and during the exam prep, "norio" also got his own round of character cheers. XD

when yachi yells "murabito b mo tatakaemasu!!" shouri ran out with a cardboard sign that read "MURABITO B", held it up proudly to cheers, then spent several minutes trying to get it to stay upright on one of the chairs. ("nice fight!" someone in the audience called.) murabito b remained on stage in support for the rest of the screening.

for "kageyama's not breathing!" kagechan flopped dramatically to the stage…. and then takumi ran out to do cpr! only it was such like, soft, gentle cpr that kagechan sat up and burst into laughter. in the car with saeko-neesan, kagechan pretended to fall asleep, and then acted out waking up, putting in eyedrops, etc. "ohayou," fucchi told him solemnly.

kagechan and fucchi did a great job with the synchro attack and then with all of karasuno's ending match/group number choreo. hilariously, all four of them started to do the final choreo that includes a bit of each school's signature moves and shouri forgot to do nekoma's. XD "it wasn't that long ago, idk why it's so hard to remember!" he said later, and having witnessed him reenact practically the entirety of karasuno fukkatsu i too wondered the same thing.

oh oh! when karasuno are doing the wheelbarrel walks, kagechan "wheeled" fucchi out all the way across the stage – then when they reached the wings, fucchi held himself up with one arm for several seconds while gesturing at kagechan and without taking a break they reversed course and "walked" back across the stage. from which i conclude that kid has amazing arm strength!

AND THEN.

during the last practice match against fukurodani, as kageyama debates whether to try out the new quick with hinata...

...suga kenta ran on stage, said "yannai no?" and ran off.

IT'S NOT LIKE WE DIDN'T ALL KNOW HE WAS THERE but oh my god the screeching, holy shit. again, self very much included. knowing how much kenta loves that line, i should have known that would be too much for him to resist. and yet. dies. it was incredible.

hilariously, the cast, who were pointing and laughing in shock just like everyone else, didn't acknowledge this surprise until the very end of the aftertalk. "ah yes, someone who… resembled… that orange-haired person on stage… appeared earlier, huh. briefly."

speaking of the aftertalk!

takumi talked about how this play was his stage debut: shouri: he cried ALL THE TIME. he cried at our first cast meeting. he cried on opening night... our takumi's grown so much! :') takumi: ……..….thanks. takumi: i was too nervous to enjoy anything until the play opened tbh. shouri: dude you're nervous right now. takumi: ……..yeah.

apparently during rehearsal takumi was repeatedly told to speak up more during fukurodani's group scenes – no one could hear him contribute to "hey hey hey" etc. but once the show actually opened and they could hear the audience reactions to fukurodani and everything he got less nervous and it became a lot more fun.

shouri: yeah, you had sarukui and everything, lol… i heard the audience calling "kawaii!!" when he appeared earlier and honestly if that's what you call cute... audience: KAWAII kagechan: seriously, i need a dictionary for this.

then shouri pointed out that although in the source material the characters don't use first names that much, in the last barbecue scene ken-chan alone would come on super strong and go around addressing all the characters by their first name. "OI, TETSUROU. TETSUROU. HAVE SOME MORE MEAT." so even though they weren't miked he was so loud that during these serious conversations you can hear him in the background going "TETSUROU. TETSUROU."

OH fucchi told us that "super star rolling thunder" was originallly "stardust rolling thunder"… because fucchi's agency is stardust promotions. XD fucchi: and in that scene i'm with ino hiroki-kun and nagao shizune-chan fucchi: and, you know, they sparkle fucchi: like stardust

apparently he got the go-ahead from worry-san, but not from the higher ups, precisely because of stardust promotions. XD shouri: then why don't you do it now? stardust rolling thunder. fucchi: i, wai-- fucchi: fucchi: fucchi: :| shouri: ^___^ fucchi: i knew it.

from which i conclude fucchi had tried to get out of doing it during their MC planning or something. XD

fucchi: you have to be the sparkles shouri: but i'm watanabe fucchi: -_- shouri: get takumi too fucchi: takumi, what's your agency? takumi: beaco-- fucchi: it's fine, it's fine, over there please

final messages: takumi's was very polite and respectful as he thanked the audience, it was cute. shouri said that watching shinka no natsu made him fondly remember all the work the different schools did to grow as a team and learn to communicate with each other during that summer – it was their irl summer of evolution. fucchi pointed out that he and kagechan will reach their hundredth haikyuu show during the saikyou no team! and kagechan said that he was here sitting in audience -- "right around there" – watching for the shoen dress rehearsal so it was really special to be here in aiia as a proper part of engeki haikyuu. :)

hajimari no kyojin next, then some off-camera stories from event night! THE GOAL LINE IS IN SIGHT. thanks so much for the nice comments, i really appreciate them, and i've been enjoying reading your capslocky tags. :D

everyone is shocked ofc and Echo is also scared bc so many new people

Zane is shocked too but then they just. bond really quickly.

everyone loves him after he comes out of his shell

“we’ve only known Echo for one day but if anyhing happened to him we’d kill everyone in Ninjago and then ourselves”

Zane being a good big brother and teaching him different things like how to cook

Jay and Nya fix him up again he’s still rusty but at least he doesnt fall apart anymore

Echo loves seeing new things

he likes hugging people more than his brother does and doesnt understand personal space and boundaries at times

ALSO!!!! ECHO FINDING OUT ZANE HAS PIXAL IN HIS HEAD!!!! HE THINKS THATS SUPER COOL!!!

he also sees a photo of PIXAL and thinks shes really pretty but not in a crush way bc hes super supportive of Pixane and hes super happy for his bro

Jay accidentally lets slips that Echo was most likely built to replace Zane and both are kind of upset

Because there are not enough: Soulmate AU, but with a twist(sort of) that’s based on a fic I read that I absolutely adore but cannot find again :’)

Basically when you’re born you will have a certain amount of marks on your skin, each one representing a soulmate. Now, these can be romantic, platonic, familial or any other kind of bond and you can have any number of them. The most common is two or three, but it is possible to have many more. 

See: The Ninja.

Now for how the bond itself works. Basically, when you meet your soulmate, if you exchange blood, called a Soulbond, you get sent back in time to various points in the other’s life and can interact with them. You can’t speak with them, but you can do things like touching or poking. You can’t actually move them though.

So yeah. Onto the actual story, and from Kai’s perspective because Yes.

So growing up Kai has 6 soulmarks. A wave of water on his right shoulder(that one was easy to figure out, being Nya, and she in turn has a small fire for him on her left shoulder), a lightning bolt, rock, and metal snowflake on the right side of his chest, a gold dragon with green eyes on the left side of his chest, and a helmet with two swords crossed underneath on his back. Nya has all the same marks, just in different spots, as well as a light orange rock(amberphoenix time)

Now, growing up Kai never really had an interest in finding his soulmates. He knew he would find them someday, if the light touches and phantom hugs were anything to say by, but he didn’t need to find them now. He was too busy running the shop to worry about that.

But then he gets all involved in the ninja stuff.

Now, funnily enough, the other three ninja don’t actually realize Kai their soulmate for a while. Like, a long while. Kai is pretty private when it comes to his marks and the other’s respect that.

In fact, they don’t realize until partway through S3. I know that’s a while but let’s just say it for the sake of plot

And at that point, it’s a collective moment of “okay how are we this stupid”

But then, Kai suggests they wait until after they defeat the Overlord, because he’s felt touches from all of them and if they don’t soul bind that would basically guarantee they all live and probably succeed. And seeing that logic as pretty sound, they all agree.

So um. Yeah that kinda backfires. 

Now, normally the would try and refute it, however Zane’s mark went gray. So uh. Yeah.

Also, bit of a quick interlude, for a while they thought that perhaps Samurai X(Nya) could be one of their soulmates, but then when they find out it’s Nya they go “Oh. Alright then guess not”…. I mean technically she still was but none of them made the Water Connection nor did they show the exact marks they were referring to so eh

ANYWAY, Kai tales this partially as a personal failure because he took away Zane’s chance at a soul bond because he was stupid enough to hold it off. The reason he resorts to drinking is to numb the feelings of his other soulmates trying to pull him away.

He actually gets so far in that he doesn’t notice when Zane’s mark regains color.

Ofc, the others definitely notice and are now in a mad scramble to find Kai so he can help them find Zane, and Kai swears he’ll soul bond with all of them once they find him.

Well…..he certainly tried I’ll give him that. S4 happens in all it’s glory, Nya and Skylor find out they’re soulmates, and they’re working on figuring out if Zane can still soulbind Like That. Then just as they’re settling down in S5 and getting ready to try it, Morro happens, Lloyd gets captured and Cole gets ghostified, so now they have to find a way around that, then S6(which still gets erased but they didn’t have time there either), then DotD which solves the Cole Issue, then S7, until finally. FINALLY. They have a chance.

They decide to do it in the order I introduced their marks: Jay, Cole, Zane, and Lloyd, then a few months later finally Pixal since they learn she was the new Samurai X

Kai spends most of his time with them as a sort of protector. He’ll warn them if danger is coming but also function as a heated blanket and gives hugs.

He’ll warn Jay when some bullies are coming his way and gave him the finally push to test out his flying machine where he met Wu.

He stayed close to Cole in the months after his mom’s death and helped him make the decision to leave Marty Oppenheimer's.

When Zane lost his memories he helped nudge him in the right direction and while he was trapped in Chen’s dungeon kept him company.

In those nights Lloyd was alone, he wrapped him in the biggest hug he could, doing his best to keep him warm.

And when Pixal was trapped inside Zane, Kai made sure she knew he hadn’t forgotten about her.

Because AU ideas go Brr, Chen And Krux Working Together AU

Okay so I can’t remember whether Krux and Acronix defecting came before or after the Serpentine war, but for the sake of this au let’s just say it came after.

ANYWAY when Krux appears in time earlier without his brother, for a while things go as canon. He creates Dr. Sanders Saunders, starts slowly befriending Ray and Maya, making plans to take over Ninjago, but then realizes that he can’t do this alone. If someone were to come along to fight him, it wouldn’t be much of a fight since he didn’t have his elemental powers, and 40 years is a long time to wait for both his brother and the Time Blades to reappear(he’d wait a life time for his brother, but practicalities).

That’s when he remembers an old enemy who was similarly banished, Master Chen.

Ofc, them meeting at first doesn’t go very well, Chen obviously being very upset over the whole banishing thing, but Krux is able to sway him by saying together they could rule Ninjago, doing whatever they pleased and making Wu and Garmadon pay for what they did. He also throws incentive in the form of Ray and Maya, which is what finally convinces them.

From there, they start planning things out. Krux is able to travel to Ninjago and bring news, and they start preparations for the tournament. With a combination of Clouse’s spells and some spying from Krux, they’re able to figure out just how to lure in each of the EM’s.

Now, when the ninja all meet up at Chen’s Noodles and find the invite, the first note they read very clearly says “Master Chen has personally invited the Masters of Earth, Energy and Lightning to participate in his Tournament of Elements.” Kai is very upset that this mean he probably won’t be able to go and he hates just sitting around, but there honestly isn’t much he can do about it.

At least until he gets back to the Bounty to find Nya frantically pacing.

He asks what’s going on but she just throws a scroll of paper at his face and tells him to read.

He does, and it’s a similar offer to the one he saw the other guys get and reads as follows

“Master Chen has personally invited the Masters of Fire and Water to partake in his Tournament of Elements. Meet on the docks at midnight. Tell no one.”

And Kai mentions how he just saw the guys getting a similar one, but Nya tells him to look on the back.

And it’s a picture of their parents along with a note saying they know where they are and will tell them if either win the Tournament

Cue a not so mild freak out since holy shit their parents are alive but also oh no they have to chose between Zane and their parents, but also Nya’s an Elemental Master???? 

However they don’t have much time to dispute it as it’s almost midnight and they need to get to the boat. They quickly pack some things, specifically a pair of trackers and experimental communicators that are incredibly difficult to spot and head out

They’re just barely able to arrive on time, and because of that don’t immediately find the other ninja on the boat. They actually spend most of the trip in a corner trying to figure out what the hell Nya’s going to do since she just found out she had powers like, two hours ago and hasn’t unlocked her True Potential, and they weren’t allowed to bring weapons. They pretty quickly come to the conclusion that there isn’t much they can do, and to just hope her training is enough to get her through.

Kai doesn’t actually fight Karlof this time, nor does he meet Skylor.

They arrive, the other Ninja are like “:000 Kai and Nya? What’re you doing here?” And explain that the two of them got a separate invite, probably because they were siblings and how Nya is apparently the Master of Water, carefully leaving out their parents involvement.

During Chen’s explanation Krux is actually standing by Chen along with Clouse but disguised, but both Kai and Nya feel like he’s vaguely familiar.

Nya’s room is right next to Kai’s, actually where Skylor’s would’ve been and when it’s time to start he gives her the Jade Blade, saying he’ll figure something out, which I mean, technically he does but Nya punches him for cutting it so close

The Fighting Rounds occur basically the same. Nya ends up fighting Mr.Paleman, and I actually don’t need to change anything for that since in the show he doesn’t actually fight anyone….for some reason. Yeah not sure why that happened but it makes things easier for me and her match takes place after Kai and Ash’s.

Oh also Nya is Very Done with the love triangle bull and yells at them before the match to stop being idiots since it was all a misunderstanding that happened months ago, so they don’t Fight Fight but Cole still ends up getting eliminated.

During the Thunderblade match Nya is only slightly better than Kai at skating, being able to actually keep her balance, but again not much canon change.

Alliance time, they don't find the spy, badadadadada quick bounce back to Stuff Happening In The Factory

Through some events Cole gets hurt and needs to be sent to the medics. Nothing too bad, but he should probably get it checked out.

Surprise surprise, the pair is none other than Ray and Maya. The reason they’re there and not working is because they’re too valuable to be out and about, sort of like Zane. 

Cole likes them though. Maya reminds him of his mom. He also promises to get them out.... somehow.

Swigging swoo time for powers to get snatched.

Only now we also have Krux revealing himself, commenting on how much Kai and Nya have grown. They’re understandably confused, but then Kai remembers his parents had a friend who stopped visiting around when they went missing. Kai gets extraordinarily pissed, like full feral trying to throw himself at Krux, yelling about how it’s all his fault they were alone.

Chen steals their powers, however it doesn’t quite work with Nya. That’s because the block that keeps EMs from using their powers prior to True Potential also keeps it blocked from most methods of stealing it.

Sooooo they end up taking her which just pisses Kai off even more. (The other EMs are lowkey afraid of him, as they should)

Eventually Jay finally asks who that guy was and why it’s making Kai so upset at which they learn that the invite Kai and Nya got said that is they won they’d get info on their parents who disappeared when they were kids and that guy was a “friend” of theirs who stopped visiting around the same time and seems to have kidnapped them. Lloyd then asks what he meant by them being alone, at which Kai quickly explains how he’s been basically raising Nya since their parents disappeared. Then one of the EMs asks how long ago that was, and Kai just casually says since he was 5 and Nya was 3. Cue much concern, but they don’t have time to deal with that, they need to break out.

And it goes pretty well. They get Nya and Sensei G, fight off the cultists, free some of the other people trapped, and then Cole’s like “wait we can’t forget the medics” so they start heading that way, and bam revealed that those two are Kai and Nya’s parents and they have a nice lil reunion :D

And after that canon is....pretty much the same, Kai ends up getting captured along with Skylor because they’re salty, and he’s able to convince her to join their side. Ray and Maya are also pretty sad about Sensei G leaving since they just reunited.

I think that’s everything....

Oh right Krux. Well....he sorta escapes. He had escape plans long before he even officially joined Chen, so it wasn’t too difficult to escape. The ninja are on high alert and because Wu is aware the Twins might be an issue explains how Acronix, the other twin, will be retuning shortly after the DotD.
