How do you make your posts so aesthetic im on mobile and literally can't figure this app out😭

with lots of screen time and scrolling through pinterest! all pictures ive ever posted are from there. i love and live for pinterest.

✿ a little tumblr guide :

for formatting your text, just select it and go from there. for the small text, select it and tap the “<s>” button.

for the collages / banners i've included in some of my posts, i go through pinterest, look for pictures that have similar colour palettes, download them and go to this website to make the collage. i don't recommend changing the size of it while on the page because it can ruin your pictures, just work with the predetermined size and once you're done, download your collage and resize it by cutting it with your gallery app.

for coloured text, you can select it and choose one of the fixed options; but if you want a specific colour, you can only do it from the tumblr website. first make a draft of your post, then go to this page to choose the hex code for the text you want to edit (the hex code is the one that's six characters long and made of numbers 0-9 and letters A-F, ex.: #A77BF9), once you have your code, go to this page, write whatever it is you want, select the “solid text” option (if you want a degradé one, you'll need more than one colour code), put your hex code and copy the text at the bottom of the website. now, back to your draft (remember, you can only do this from the website, not the app), click on the little settings wheel at the top right, at the end you'll see something that says “rich text”, open that menu and choose “html”. now, if you don't know about programming, your draft will look crazy, don't worry, that's just the html version of it. go through it until you find the text you want to modify, select it (only the text, not any other thing around it, if you see something like a <h1> or <b> anything with the < > symbols, do not touch those because you'll either delete everything or lose the formatting you might have already applied —if you accidentally delete those when changing the colour, don't worry, once you're done with the colour you can apply the formatting again just as you always do—), and in its place paste the long text you copied from the website. if you want to know if you did it right, at the top of the post there's a “preview” option, choose it and see if your text is good to go. now that you're done changing the colours, go back to the settings wheel and choose the option “rich text” again, so you can continue working on your post. it's kind of a mess, yes. but your posts will be a hundred times prettier. and you will learn the basics of html coding too.

little side note: if you've modified the html code of your post, always go back to the app before posting it and check if it looks okay because changing the html code makes you lose some formatting you might have already done, like organising pictures or adding a “keep reading” button. also, check the attached screenshots for a more visual tutorial!

Simply Plural:

Technically a system/plurality app/site, but people who are plural have said they don't mind alterhumans using it :3

Edit: I've checked Apparyllis' site (People behind SimplyPlural), and I don't think it says anywhere that it's only for peeps who are plural. "Our apps should be usable by everyone" -Appyryllis

Pros: 100% free, great place for categorizing. Allows you to add little notes for specific kins, pronouns, and basic info. Cross platform with a good working site and mobile app

Cons: Not much 'basic info' to fill in, No option to put images for notes (for profile pic it's allowed ofc)

Milanote

This is like, the ultimate boss of organizing. It's absolutely amazing and I love to use it for my ocs, but I haven't gotten a chance to use it for my kins yet

Pros: Amazing organization stuff, very creative but allows for templates too! Easy to work with

Cons: Limited amounts of assets until you need to pay money. Shitty mobile version just not worth touching as of now

Notion is a multi platform productivity software that can be used for making Wiki's.

Pros: Plenty of space and pages you can make for categories. Easy categorization and filtering.

Cons: Hard to use. There is a premium option. AI is an annoying icon in the corner.

Google docs

Google docs (or just a general documents) is a multi platform document files.

Pros: Easy to use. Free. Customizable.

Cons: Lack of origizeational options.

Spreadsheet

You can use Google sheets.

Pros: You can categorise it.

Cons: Not much space for details.

Discord

Discord is a free talking app.

Pros: Free. You can have many channels for your kins. You can talk to other people.

Cons: There is a premium version. Privacy could potentially be an issue.

Notes app

The notes app is a free app that comes with most phones and even some PC's and laptops.

Pros: Free. You can have as many notes as you want.

Cons: Transferring could be an issue. Lack of organizational options.

Pronouns.cc

Pronouns.cc is a website for listing pronouns and gender. I have personally never used Pronouns.cc so this is from observation.

Pros: You can have multiple kins listed.

Cons: Listing info is limited.

Carrd

Carrd is a website making tool.

Pros: Fully customizable.

Cons: You have to pay for multiple carrds. You can't have too many elements on one carrd with out paying either.

Rentry

Is another website maker but free.

Pros: Free. Fully customizable.

The easy way to understand frontend web development

Whenever we are talking about techie stuff, if you are not really into it, you could find it a little bit hard to understand. However, if you are not living under a rock, it is highly probable that your life is heavily influenced by technology. Most of the things that happen to you, they usually passes through something techy at some point. It could be as "insignificant" as a whatsapp message to meet a friend somewhere, to something more "trascendental" like choosing a MSc course through internet research and interaction.

It's really surprising that most of us use technology at some level of our lives, and we don't have a clue about what is actually happening behind the scenes. If we hear something about coding or software development the first thing that comes to our minds is weird stuff like Matrix movies.

Well, if you are in this side of the board, let me explain to you the first layer of the web development world in the easiest way that I could imagine.

I find out that the simplest way to explain technical stuff is with metaphors... yeah, metaphors. So, in this case, I think that an appropriate way of explaining it is comparing web development with anatomy stuff (wait before you stop reading, it will make sense, I promise).

First of all, we have to divide the development world into 2 branches, the frontend and the backend. As you might smartly suppose, the frontend is everything that we see in the front, and the backend everything that is happening behind that makes the magic come true.

In the frontend, there are 3 main (and only) lenguajes. HTML, CSS and Javascript, in order to explain them I will use the anatomy stuff I said before.

Beginning with the HTML, this could be the equivalent of the bones that every human being has. It doesn't matter what are your physical attributes, I would bet my life that you have a skeleton. The same goes to any piece of software, it doesn't matter if we are talking about a website or a mobile app; it certainly has a skeleton (HTML) too. HTML gives the structure and the content.

So, it would be so creepy to meet a guy that it is only a HTML skeleton, such is true if we find a website that it is only a skeleton HTML. That's why god created CSS, that would be the equivalent to the skin and any body element that is part of our appearence. The color of our eyes, our skin tone, imperfectures as pimples and so on. The CSS is responsible of giving identity and apperance to the HTML so it's more comfortable to see.

Finally, the missing frontend lenguaje is Javascript. This is a little bit harder to explian but we could say that are like our 5 senses. HTML and CSS are making the body at whole, but in order to interact and be a usefull piece of software, the Javascript languaje enters into action. We can make a website only with HTML and CSS, but it will be something like a man of wax and nothing more; static and without any kind of interaction.

And this is how we understand the first layer of web development with anatomy (Frontend: HTML, CSS & Javascript).

The second layer is way too much complex than this, because we would be talking about the backend, something like the brain of the human body. So I'll save this for another post. 🤓

AnkiDroid: Flashcards on paper can be really annoying, especially if you have so many of them. AnkiDroid makes it easy. I like to write them in the computer and afterwards it synchonizes with my app on the mobile phone. This app saved my ass for so many exams guys, seriously.

My Study Life: You can organize you whole day at the university with this app. Classes, exames, appointments...for me it is especially usefull to look uo all the different rooms I have to go.
