« Tuchanka is a place of great gifts. It kills the weak, torments the slow, and destroys the stupid. Survival is an honor, and here, krogan thrive! »
Tuchanka and its people. I especially remember the moment of Shepard's first visit to Tuchanka in the Mass Effect 2. A meeting with good old friend Wrex, stern krogans, funny pyjaks and varrens. Especially with cutie Urz!

The job was supposed to be easy and simple. Uvenk had agreed to escort some spoiled rich girl from one castle to the next. He just hadn't planned on the pink haired brat to be so loud and annoying. He had dealt with squabbling raiders that didn't complain this much despite fighting off a few bandits and biting his tongue. His patience was getting thinner than a thawing lake in Spring.

(Didn't find one in any kind of dress)
Saya looked at her escort, moving back to the carriage, "It took you so long to beat those bandits. Daddy said you were some kind of hero, but all I see is a man not trying."

Garrus "if it can be fired, I know how to use it" Vakarian
I actually upgraded his Turian Renegade category first because I loved that description so much, lol!
Jack and Zaeed have been a really solid choice for squadmates on missions so far. They seem to work well together. I realized that, d'oh, I hadn't done anybody's loyalty missions yet so I did Zaeed's because I'd gotten it first. THEN I found out that his is really difficult to get mid-game if you're playing Paragon (if you do it right away, you don't need as many Paragon points to pass the check). If you don't choose the Renegade option of letting people die so Zaeed can go after the guy to get revenge, then you've got to have a HECK a lot of Paragon points to pass that check at mission's end because Mr. Massani is (kinda rightfully) PEEVED at you for costing him his revenge.
And when I say peeved, I mean I legit thought he was going to Critical Mission Failure Shep or at least he was going to be so angry he wouldn't continue on with the crew.
Thankfully, my sweet Shep and I have been gathering all the Paragon points we can, so we passed the check, Zaeed backed down and now we have his loyalty, WHEW. (I love talking to him between missions, he always has a story to tell you, lol!)
I just did Jack's loyalty mission and, as a reward, I gave her a shirt to go under her "there's no way those tiny straps are staying in place like that" harness, lol! I've seen a couple of different dialogue scenes with Jack and most of them still have her snarking at Shep, so I was surprised when I talked to her after her loyalty mission and she was remarkably calm and thoughtful. I didn't want to activate her romance options but I was afraid I'd have to be mean to her to prevent that. So far, so good, though; Jack seems to like me without liiiiiiking me. 😍👍
Grunt and Wrex!!! Shep looks like he's back there having an existential crisis while Uvenk (who I knew was voiced by Michael Dorn the second he spoke 😉) seems to be either appreciating or judging his Spectre butt, lol.
Uvenk: "Well, he's no Miranda, that's for darn sure!" 😤
😂Anyway!
Plus there was an ambassador from Clan Nakmor there! I didn't realize my beloved Drack's clan originated from the OT!
Oh man, I love that Krogan, lol!
I'm trying to get all of the loyalty missions done ASAP and I've already upgraded the Normandy as much as I can. There are still a few more upgrades I haven't gotten yet because I haven't recruited Thane, Legion or Tali yet. I decided to put Tali off as late as I can so that when I come back on another playthrough, I won't have to replay the entire game just to NOT romance her so that I'm setting up Kaidan's romance in 3. I hope I'll still get the chance to do all of Tali's romance stuff, though. If I mess it up by getting her too late, I'll just back up and do her recruiting earlier, then. We'll see!
And ohhhhh I did the Overlord mission without knowing which one it was going to be and it was David. Holy macaroni. That was so upsetting at the end when he's finally revealed and he's got tears running down his face and there's his horrid brother wanting you to choose to leave him like that. I LOVE that the Paragon option is to pistol whip that dude, lol. I hope we get to see David later on in 2 or 3 and that he's doing so much better. Man, I wasn't expecting that reveal and it really stuck with me. Poor guy.
And I don't know if this is something or not but... one of the bots was acting weird in that mission, like it was trying to attack a console and when Shep and the squad came in, it didn't attack them. Is that going to have something to do with Legion, I wonder? It wasn't the Geth style robot body that Legion has but I couldn't help but think it was trying to tell me that there was some other type of robot sentience going on in there. I could just be projecting, though, because I already know about Legion, so... 🤷♀️ I guess we'll see!
And lastly, while the Hammerhead is no Mako or Nomad, I actually had a lot of fun zipping awkwardly around in it! Forgot to record or cap any of it, though, oops. 🤷♀️ I've played a LOT of Mass Effect these past few days, lol!
That's it for my Mass Effect 2 Update of Updateyness! Keep holding the line, friends! Love to you all! 💖💖💖

Mass Effect 2, Grunt loyalty mission:
-Wrex says Okeer is a hated name. Why? I don’t think the game ever provides the context for that.
-Grunt’s loyalty mission is invaluable for the world building it provides for the krogan.
I don’t have much to say about most of it, but I appreciate how well it fleshes the krogan out as a people.
-Mmm. Wrex is not as all powerful as one might assume. He has to coordinate with the female clan, and within Urdnot itself the Shaman holds a lot of power.
Despite how it may seem on the surface, being a clan leader requires interpersonal skills. You can’t just headbutt everyone into submission.
-I am amused that even krogans have liberals and conservatives, and concern about their culture being lost because of changes.
Sure, everything is contextualized via some form of violence or another, but it’s there.
-I struggle with krogans in ME2. They generally respond better to neutral or renegade dialogue than paragon, but because the paragon/renegade system is ratio based in ME2 I’m reluctant to give up on any paragon points.
-Shaman, about the site of Grunt’s rite of passage: The last surface city to fall in the rebellions.
So, fighting occurred on Tuchanka as well during the Krogan Rebellions. Somehow that never occurred to me. I had assumed all fighting occurred offworld.
It’s still been a millennia or so since then so the krogan should have started rebuilding, but that’s not quite as long since they nuked themselves.
Now I’m curious about how much the krogan had rebuilt between the nukes and the rebellions. Do they ever get tired of having to start from scratch?
-There are Urdnot bodies scattered around the rite of passage area.
This is another reason why the krogan are slowly dying out. They die during the rite of passage, and that’s a tradition they’re apparently not willing to give up.
Did the salarians not consider this when creating the genophage? Did they assume the krogans would adapt by abandoning or modifying the rite?
-Uvenk is quite the politician. Had he been born another species, I expect he’d be quite comfortable on the presidium.
-And we know Wrex is a politician. I suspect one of the reasons he permitted Grunt to perform the rite is he thought it would get rid of Uvenk.
It also ties Shepard even more closely to Clan Urdnot. Besides being Wrex’s friend, Shepard is Grunt’s Battlemaster.
-Ironically, I think this might be one of the most political missions in the game, with only Tali’s loyalty mission coming close.
And most people in Mass Effect would probably insist krogans aren’t capable of politics.
-The Shaman says that rebuilding the world over and over makes krogans stronger.
I still suspect individual krogan grow weary from it.
-When you first tell Wrex you have a krogan crew member, he says you replaced him.
If you kill the thresher maw and speak to Wrex again, he says “Guess that’s what it takes to replace me”.
Grunt is being positioned to be the next leader of Clan Urdnot.
-I had just enough money to buy all the upgrades from Fortack’s store. Whew!
-Hearing the chatter about defeating the thresher maw and the various krogans welcoming Grunt into the clan is nice.
And the Blood Pack recruiter certainly changes his tune.
Normandy
-Chorban emailed Shepard to let them know his findings on the Keepers.
Pretty much everything Shepard discovered in ME1 – they’re bioengineered, made by the same people that made Sovereign, and react to a signal every 50,000 years. How convenient.
Of course, the real point is for Chorban to say that nobody on the Citadel is listening to him.
This is probably too emphasize that the Council is doing nothing, and it’s up to Shepard to save the galaxy.
More practically, I suspect STG is monitoring all of Chorban’s equipment and making copies of everything.
-The dialogue to receive Tali’s loyalty mission is also short, but at least it’s longer than Garrus’ and presents new concepts.
-If you go renegade with Grunt, he assures Shepard he would stab Shepard in the front, not the back. Love it.
-If you go paragon on your last response with him, it ends on a bit of a sour note. Grunt’s here for fighting, so Shepard better be as well.
-More generally, it’s good to see Grunt feeling assured. He’s found his place in the world.

Oh, and for anyone curious what the correct information is:
Shepard headbutts Gatatog Uvenk (a different krogan) on Tuchanka (which could maybe be called a "derelict krogan settlement" except it's not deserted or neglected, just messy), not to prove he/she is "krogan enough" but just to get Uvenk to shut up (also, it's an optional Renegade interrupt). And it's for Grunt's loyalty mission, not recruitment mission.

Good job, AI, that's just wrong.
I was trying to check something quickly for a thing I'm working on, and had to just stop and stare for a hot minute at the AI Overview trying to "help" me. And this is why I keep telling Google the Overview is useless, because I have to fact-check it anyway by looking at the links because I can't trust it to tell me accurate information, so what's the point?
Anyway.
I forgot to get a screenshot of the one that claimed it was on the Citadel. Did you know you can refresh and sometimes get different results from the AI Overview? And yet none of those refreshes gave me accurate information.

She won’t let anyone talk shit about her son. Besides, headbutt a krogan is cool and she wanted to impress her baby boy.

Uvenk glared down at the small elf who had the audacity to try to steal from his clan. "Then you are more foolish than I thought." even while crouching the Goliath loomed over her tanned form. "Be grateful we decided not to rip you apart and feed you to our mounts." one large finger tilted her chin up so his blue eyes met hers. "Tell me elf, why did you come here to steal our treasures? Answer honestly and you may live to see the next dawn."
Open RP Starter: Critical Fail

Well now, this wasn’t exactly how she’d wanted things to go. Jaerik grit her teeth and flailed futilely against the ropes that held her bound to the tall post in the center of the camp. Around her, she could see and hear the rough and rugged folk she’d dared to target—some just going about their days, but most lingering and staring at the tanned-skinned Changeling that moments earlier had been caught trying to steal from their treasure trove.
Jaerik flailed and jerked again, before feeling a shadow cast over her—one of those rough thug-types had stepped closer, and she let out a huff. “And what do you want? If you think you’re gonna intimidate me, you’re dead wrong.”

Okay, so I'm replaying mass effect and I've started a list of things I stumbled on for the first time. Might be interesting, but it's mostly not taking interrupts.
If you tell Anderson to go to Citadel Control instead of making Udina pay a visit to his dentist, he will actually be caught and get shot, but he is still going to get it done, like the main character he is (what do you mean the story is about Shepard? No it isn't!)
If you don't take the renegade interrupt to headbutt Uvenk on Grunt's loyalty mission, then ask him if he wants to die, Shepard will warn Uvenk that if he keeps talking crap, his "few brains are going to meet the light of day". The Shaman will be impressed and call Shepard (at least femshep) a "human Shiagur", then proceed to shit on Uvenk.
Alternatively, you can investigate, then take a paragon choice to call him the worst insult Shepard can think of: A Citadel politician.
If you take Thane to recruit Jack, when the Warden says "bounty hunters aren't dependable", he'll tell him to "try assassins"
If you ignore Bailey until you get reinstated, he will call you "Spectre Shepard" the first time you talk to him, and you won't get the "scanners think you are dead" conversation.
In the first part of Garrus loyalty mission, when you are talking to the volus, there is a renegade interrupt to shoot the bodyguards, right? If you don't take it, Garrus is going to tell them to leave and... they will. Without a word. While the volus screams for them to come back cause he already paid the guys.
If you go paragon with Elias (the guy who hired Kolyat), then take the last renegade interrupt, his lawyer will show up and tell him to "shut the hell up". Before that, you will also get the chance to rat on Mouse.
Also on Thane's mission, Talid will talk how about he is being observed and how someone is "walking on his grave, or thinking about it". His bodyguard will dismiss him by calling him paranoid.
If you don't take the renegade interrupt to blow up the krogan in Mordin's loyalty mission, you will start to regret it immediately. He will have a LONG speech about what Weyrloc is going to do to the galaxy, like throwing the Citadel in the sun, keeping salarians as slaves and eating their eggs as "a delicacy" (Mordin didn't like it much). The good news is that the interrupt will be there until he is finished talking, so there is no need to actually hear the guy.
If you stick around to hear Charr's whole poem, he will kneel in (one of) the last verses. Just a tiny detail but it was actually adorable.
If I find anything else, I'll let you guys know!
