@createinfinity has been blessed with random, soft potential fantasy!tamayuu content (っ˘ω˘ς)
She was improving. Slowly, but surely improving. A number of seasons have passed since she’d taken residence in Tamaki’s cottage. With her freedom from slavery, there came opportunity to finally realize what it is that Yuu sought in life. Tamaki’s guidance and plethora of books all painted it for her. Her eyes were opened to the world of magic, its wonders and, by extension, her identity as a shaman. All this time, Yuu never thought to see her abilities in a glorified light. Being able to see the vitality of the lands didn’t seem any more than a factor in her value and survival.
That is, until now.
Yuu was nowhere to be found inside the cottage as the sun began to break through the crisp morning air. Her eyes were watching it rise outside, watching the world quietly, slowly come to life. Truth to be told, this wasn’t the first time she’d gone out to just feel. The only reason why it felt different this time was because she was finally experiencing the beauty and wonder of her abilities in full. Life glowed in every nook and cranny within her sight. The world just seemed to bloom before her. Even the darkest corners had something subtly aglow for Yuu. All this.. was something only she could see.
Gods, she wanted to know more. More about magic, about the essence of life, about everything pertaining to shamans. Feeling her expression glow, she finally turned to head back into the cottage. The two of them are supposed to go foraging for materials, right? ..Maybe she can finally ask him if she can go to Loni with him.

@silver-strings-of-fate posted a fantasy!starter
Something stirred in the dead of the night, enough to have the elements wake Yuu up. At first she was concerned, suspicions of there being an intruder rising and causing her to raise her guards while she snuck around the halls, but turns out it was the cleric with a troubled vibe settling around her.
“Miss Yayoi...?” The shaman’s expression furrowed in worry.

[ Mermaid/Merman Starters ]
“As they should be, if they know what’s good for them.”An irritated huff of air bubbles flitted up behind her as the siren eventually curved back down into the ocean waters. She should’ve known this other mer’s definition of ‘fun’ wasn’t how she had imagined it. In fact, it was careless. Dangerous, even. To think they’d expose themselves to the scaleless so casually like this… Turns out Yuu must’ve been right about refusing to belong in any pods, after all. Her trails of bubbles eventually led up to where the mermaid has stopped. She sunk past a few corals teeming with life, and finally sulked where her body landed.
“..Is this just how all the other mer are like out there? All devious?? All willing to play with stingers??? This is why I stay away from scaleless…! All they do is bring trouble!”
Yuu was ready to claw at her own throat, fingers itching to curl as they covered her face. She hated using her powers, hated the kind of attention it brought her. But in an effort to control herself, she just.. hugged her own chest. The venom in her tone quickly ended up dying down. And after a moment, a drop of pearl fell from the corner of her eye to sink into the sand.
“..I thought you were going to show me something fun…”

Yuu had been in the Hirose's care for a while now. From the beginning they'd planned to release her back into the ocean. But the closer that day came, the more Yayoi dreaded it. Her love for Yuu had only grown stronger over time. She needed to be near her. One night, she approached Yuu's pond. "Yuu, are you awake?"
Yuu would be lying if she said that she didn’t miss her home. Every single time she broke the water’s surface to listen, the siren would always hear the distant cries of the far-off waves against the land. It called to her, and cried for her return... Yet, at the same time, she couldn’t help but dwell on this certain attachment she’d gotten to this location she’s been in all this time. Yuu will never forget the Hiroses’ care. In a way, she sort of didn’t want to leave them at all... But sadly, she knew that she had to. Being stuck in this pond just wasn’t the life she was meant to live. Humans and Merfolks won’t ever be able to live together. They’ve never had, nor would they never will...
All these thoughts were immediately interrupted when she heard the human there at the pond’s ledge. A faint ripple of motion reverberated underwater, her tail kicking her upright from the bottom in order to launch her up to the surface. Yuu poked her head out, then raised up a hand to lace it together with Yayoi’s in greeting.
“Ya..yoi...”That human smile she’s been working so hard to master seemed to finally be showing some progress. Yuu was no longer baring her fangs; rather, she kept a wobbly smile on the lips. “A..wake, yes...”
Once she let go of Yayoi’s hand, Yuu began to gesture with her hands alongside the words that she hoarsely spoke. Her voice still felt strained outside of water, eventually conditioning her to do both of what they’ve taught her thus far.“Moon.. past hhigh for hhyu--..m-ans... Yayo-i... Whhy, awa-ke...?”
Human speech and even sign language... She’s probably the first mermaid to have ever established communication with scaleless like this.

♨ ((let them meet in the magic springs))
[ Send “♨” to join my muse in the hot springs. ]
Finding a small set of hot springs was probably the best thing that’s ever happened in this group’s mission as of yet. So far, these cultists were making one hell of a mess wherever and whenever they were up to no good. It’s honestly impressive how they’ve yet to make the connections between their practices and the sudden manifestation of Decay within their premises. Fortunately with Yayoi now also capable of purifying Decay, things weren’t as difficult to keep under control, but just meticulous and exhausting.
So when Yuu was finally able to keep the lantern in place on a rock, she was swift in unclothing herself in order to step into the steamy waters. Her body welcomed the rejuvenating heat, encouraging her to slide further on in with a sigh. When she heard the footsteps from a certain cleric approach, Yuu sort of sank a little further just to hide her skin.
“Ah, Yayoi.” A soft, welcoming smile grew on her face once she registered who it was. “Come on in, the water’s great. Make sure there’s nobody else, too. We’re the only girls in the group this time, after all.”

A few days after the party, Yayoi returns to the nobleman's house, this time with her father. Yayoi's going to see Yuu again, no matter what.
[ In the Last Episode… ]
Being graced by Lord Akira’s presence was an immense honor for some measly noble collector. The nobleman, Nicholas, had been practically kissing his feet since he received word from his guards of the Hiroses’ arrival. Ironic, really, especially with how he’d treated the lord’s daughter the other day, and although he’s occasionally given Yayoi the stink eye when her father wasn’t looking, Nicholas gave no other implications on how he’d rather treat her otherwise. As long as she didn’t go making a ruckus like before, he had no need.
So while he rushed his servants to quickly prepare lunch for him and his guest, Nicholas spent most of the time speaking to Lord Akira and showcasing all of the antiques still currently on display. Most of them were grandiose statues originating from foreign countries, others being ancient artifacts or interesting cultural adornments. The aquarium that occupied the middle of the room was now filled with other, albeit still uncommon fish. Many others, however, were taken back into his storage room far back in the mansion.
And with them, of course, was the mermaid, now tucked in a much smaller tank. A collar had been placed on her, causing her to occasionally claw at it since it wore over her gills, but other than that, she simply laid on her side, miserable. There are plenty of maids and servants who’ve taken pity on the poor creature, but because they feared their master, they did nothing aside from feeding the sea creature, as well as transferring her between this tank and the large pond outside for ‘training exercises’.
She wanted to see the ‘yayoi’ human again. She was the only human who made effort to truly understand what she was.

[Send 🐬 for an AU where my muse is a mermaid/man being kept in an aquarium. ]
Skolgael was a ruthless continent towards magical creatures of all kind, a complete opposite from what it used to be in the past. Beasts that were once revered or feared by humans have now turned into property, and that was given that they weren’t driven out of existence altogether. Hunted, captured, treated no differently from the jewelry adorned by nobility --- it’s why such creatures have now grown an aversion towards humanity and their spoiled savagery.
But was it any better being captured just for show? To be ogled at in every direction like an object put up for display? No privacy, no acknowledgement for the sentient being put on spotlight, no possible way to ever be returned back home... Living as the noble’s goldfish for rest of your life...
That was what became of this beautiful siren from the eastern coast of Skolgael: captured, sold, and now a display in this nobleman’s mansion as the main focus of today’s event. A celebration for his newly acquired masterpiece in addition to all the other antiques this collector had accumulated -- that was the reason why he opened his museum-like abode to the public. A ball was being hosted for the sole purpose of boasting about this beauty in a bottle.
There, in the very middle of the ballroom, was a cylindrical aquarium with a single mound of sand decorated with seaweed, coral and pretty little seashells, housing its sole resident. She was a beautiful mermaid, no doubt.A somber, miserable siren who sat there with her head hung low. Her only veil from the eyes around her was her little, circular foliage of seaweed at the top of the mound. Light which filtered in from the windows and into the aquarium reflected off the scales of her tail. Shimmering glints of blue, violet or pink danced in the waters, and it all just depended on which angle one was looking at.
A poor, poor mermaid, so far from her home...
She refused to lift up her head where she sat, and yet despite all that misery in the waters, the gazes would never stop.

A Shaman in Shackles
[[ Open Starter! ]]
Somebody... Anybody...!! If I could just find someone.. anyone..!
Light, frantic footsteps kicked up dirt and mud as a small figure desperately ran a random direction in the rain. Each step jangled the chains underneath, her ankles bruising from the shackles hitting against her skin. Armed mercenaries seemed to be chasing her, including a man with a whip, all on horseback and coming from the direction she was fleeing from -- a direction which had a small village being burnt to the ground.
If only she had known, if only she could break from her chain, if only she had the power, if only she could just reach someone out here in this world on the edge of doom...
A sharp jagged rock made contact with her foot, and the shaman ended up collapsing to the ground with a gash on the sole of her foot. And soon enough, the men on horseback arrived at her heels, their supposed leader getting off his horse only to snatch her up by the hair, scold her for her disobedience, and then throw her back onto the muddy ground before raising his whip on her.
Gods above.. have mercy on this poor girl... Send your djinns out to seek help and bring her salvation.
May the elements reach someone in time to rescue her.

@quirkless-wonder answered your ask
There was a fleeting moment of hesitation that crossed her mind. Of course, it almost always came to that sort of scenario with every person she’s aided in her life. If aiding them meant using her magic on people for personal gain, then they’ll surely make use of the offer.
It was a reluctant response, but a straightforward reply nonetheless. The shaman nodded, and clasped her hands together as though readying a prayer.
“If.. that is what’ll help you, then yes, I can do that.”

“Seriously, it’s like you’re a different person! What the hell happened?”
[ Possession Sentence Starters: ]
Yuuraraka was much too calm for someone who was usually mindful about causing distress on others. It sort of even felt like she had reverted back to her previous habits during her times as a slave.
… Actually, no, that’s not it. It was worse than that. Something was definitely wrong. Her behavior was almost akin to the time Yamikumo had brought her back from the very first time they encountered Decay, perhaps even worse than that:Yuu had gone completely irrational. She was threatening her own life.
“I told you already, nothing happened.”When she whirled back to gaze at Katsuki, her eyes had gone deathly cold, as if she bore the sight from a grim reaper. The light in them had all but disappeared. She looked like an empty vessel piloted by someone else. Eventually she was turning away, holding up one of those alchemist’s talismans that’s actually gotten a bit of blood on it.
“That’s why I’m going back. Something is missing, and I’m going to find it. Why else would there be signs of Decay there? I’ve gotta get to the bottom of it.”

@chiiimera answered your ask
Yuu couldn’t help but feel her heart and guts wrench with emotion. The fact he couldn’t bring himself to stay despite how much she wanted to show that everyone can be trusted just hurt. It wasn’t because it possibly implied a sense of distrust towards her as well, but really because Yuu just understands. Yuu knows. Slavery can do a lot to a person’s heart, even worse when there’s more value in you. Especially when there’s more value in you.
And especially if there are ways to profit more out of you.
“Jun...” Her voice hushed itself, tender and gentle out of genuine care for the chimera. Dark amber eyes all but empathized with him and his need for self-preservation. Jun demanded freedom, control over his own will. She shouldn’t be the reason why he’s stuck with everyone else.
“I’m.. I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Jun, I’m not---I’m not going to try and convince you to come back, I just...” Yuu paused a moment, a hint of heartache tugging at her heartstrings as she’s grown too attached to Jun to suggest otherwise. “I-I just-- I want to make sure you’re okay. I don’t want you make you feel confined, you should be free to choose your fate, i-it’s just... I also don’t want you to feel like you’re alone in this world, either...”
In the end, Yuu was at a loss in how to act. Her eyes began to glisten from the urge to shed conflicted tears, and her chest swelled with an ache as a lump settled in her throat. She cares too much for him... Parting with him feels too cruel.....
“I care about you... I’m scared you’ll get hurt... I want to protect you as best as I can but I---I know I can’t...”

@silver-strings-of-fate replied to your post “A very drunk cleric crawls up to Yuu. "Yuu...Yuu.. Will you still love...”
"Do you think God will forgive me, even for this horrid sin?" Yayoi hiccuped.
Yuuraraka couldn’t help but silently giggle to herself. This was almost as bad as when Deku arrived back at the guild after drinking with Katsuki, only to have seemingly convinced himself that he was a bush. Yayoi seemed so genuinely emotional over her decision to get drunk, and to Yuu it was almost endearing.
A whisper of ice magic allowed her hand to reach cooler temperatures, and she gently placed it against Yayoi’s forehead to help soothe her drunken mind down a notch.
“Yes, I’m certain of it,” she reassured her. “I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t even be the first time for them, anyways.”

Yuu: A Formerly-Enslaved Shaman (Fantasy!Yuuraraka)
“On the night they arrived at a port city near the Musutafu kingdom, Yuu received a premonition in her dreams of the natural order of the world destabilizing. Corruption among mankind and acts of taboo in the shadows has thrown off the balance, thereby stripping patches of land from the cycle of life and allowing Decay to manifest in their place. It was then that Yuu finally decides to break free from her chains as a slave, reaching out to the world in hopes that maybe, just maybe, something can be done to prevent impending doom.”
Overview
NAME: Yuuraraka, or just Yuu
JOB CLASS: Shaman (Mage-type)
Unlike other mages, Shamans communicate and direct the elements into creating natural magic via prayer, rather than conjuring magic of their own. These mages are exceptionally gifted in healing, supportive and prophetic magic, as well as elemental magic through the help of elemental djinns, the spiritual embodiments of elements. Nowadays, Shamans are extremely rare to find, and are usually found either as slaves or magically bound to a 'master'.
BIRTHDAY: December 27
HOMELAND: Gèilleadh Tribe (Destroyed)
LOCATION: The Sacred Land of Shamans, northwestern corner region of Skolgael, another continent
PERSONALITY: patient, observant, timid, practical, disciplined, responsible, intuitive, reserved, reticent
TENDENCIES: slave habits, listening to the wind, talking to the elements via prayer
DEFAULT COMBAT STYLE: Support & Healing Magic; Shamanism (Prophetic+Elemental Magic)
SECONDARY COMBAT CAPABILITIES: archery; hand-to-hand combat
ABILITIES OVERVIEW: keen intellect, spiritually influenced by environment’s elements, capable of purifying Decayed lands; naturally loved by elements
GEARS: Hip Bag (sleeping bag, medical herbs/kit, food rations, flute, spiritual talisman, rock collection pouch); Short, Hooded Tunic; Leather Hairtie Strips; Celestial Sash (mother’s memento)
Bio
A young woman of few words. Originally born into slavery, Yuu was bought by men under the guise of missionaries who aimed to conquer lands based on the environmental health that only the shaman could determine. One night, Yuu received a premonition in her dreams of the natural order of the world destabilizing. Corruption among mankind in addition to acts of taboo in the shadows has thrown off the balance, thereby stripping patches of land from the cycle of life and allowing Decay to manifest in their place.
Realizing that her owners contribute to this imbalance, Yuu finally decides to break from her chains as a slave, fleeing in hopes that maybe she can get her premonition out to public while venturing throughout the lands to purify it of Decay.

Yuu’s Origins: Gèilleadh Shaman Tribe
Yuu’s Artifact: Genesis’s Ankh Bracelets & Anklets
Fun Facts:
Since Shamans are basically spiritually in-tuned with nature, they also tend to be animal whisperers. In Yuu’s case, she’s quite the mythical creatures whisperer.
Yuu’s Shaman design is based off of the Shaman class in Ragnarok Online’s DS game.
The idea of Decay derives from the game Summon Night: Twin Age, in which elements in particular patches of a location is tainted with spiritual disorder.
Although shamans are naturally capable of performing all types of elemental magic, individual shamans can still attain an affinity for one more than the rest like any elemental mages.
In Yuu’s case, she has an affinity with Wind/Air Magic.
According to Yuu, Decay purification requires a sort of spiritual connection. This may imply that so long as one’s magic is spiritually in-tuned---be it culturally religiously or through powers gifted from deities---anyone is capable of purifying Decay.

‘ even if your voice was shaky and you stuttered on your words, you still spoke up and i am so proud you did. ’
[ Lighthearted Suggestion Starters! ]
Yuuraraka could feel her heart beat rapidly inside her chest. Adrenaline was still working to die down in her body, but even if it already left she’d still be trembling where she stood.
It was the first time she’s ever spoke so resolute against somebody, after all, and in a tavern full of creeps like him, too. The port city Calise swarmed with guys like the one she yelled at earlier, really. People who knew of slavery despite it being prohibited within the Musutafu region, and yet spoke so lightly of it with a dash of humor.
Had they known she was an ex-slave, though, would it have made it any different? Probably not. People like them could care less about it, even. The whole argument was pretty much pointless overall, she knew there’d be no gain to sticking around only to flare up at them.
But she still did it anyways. Yuu still lashed out against the idea of slavery being taken so lightly. Her clasped hands trembled and she bit at her bottom lip out of anxiousness, but nothing about her hinted any sign of regret for it.
If anything, Katsuki’s words left her overwhelmed with a sense of accomplishment, enough to make tears of relief prick the corners of her eyes.
“… Th..Thank you…” She was proud of herself, too, now.

❝My arm. You’re touching my arm…Please stop touching my arm.❞ - reciprobvrst
[ Fire Emblem Awakening Starters: ]
A shocked expression drew across the shaman’s face when she finally realized how she had subconsciously latched herself onto the knight’s arm. Yuuraraka immediately pulled herself away with a shameful, inferior air, and she promptly bowed to Iida with a behavior that almost seemed like she braced for punishment.
“I’m— I’m sorry, Sir Iida… I.. I didn’t realize.”
Seems like her old habits still hasn’t left her, especially when she was addressing a knight of all people.

❝Look at all that you can accomplish if you try.❞
[ Fire Emblem Awakening Starters: ]
Yuuraraka’s eyes were practically shining with awe, absolutely blown away by the magic she was just now able to conjure for herself rather than through the aid of the elemental djinns around her. Magic… She can actually perform magic! All those lessons and book studying and late night practices were finally paying off, and Yuu was finally beginning to bear fruit of all the things she’s passionately wanted to learn for so long…
“It’s.. true…”
As she held the ball of fire in her hands, her vision began to blur ever so slightly by the tears willing up in her eyes. Tears.. they were tears of joy. Tears signalling the fruit of her freedom’s opportunities. They made the fireball eventually sizzled, and she ended up crouching and breaking down into sobs.
“I did it… I really did it…”
The accomplishments felt so overwhelmingly enlightening for the freed shaman. She just cried as she genuinely smiled bright at Tamaki.
