its like. velvette subbing is daddy's little girl and vox subbing is a pathetic disgusting queer. velvette subbing is about letting go of control and being allowed to be small and fragile and dumb and get taken care of (which does not need to be done in a wholesome way to hit the mark btw) and vox subbing is about being forced into the most shameful, taboo and depraved acts that go so far across any line of respectability that he cant even see it anymore. velvette having never been allowed to show any fear or hurt or failure, never allowed to be as much of a kid as she should have been not only bc she was adultified since early on but bc she had to be impossibly driven and ruthless and perfect to get any amount of respect. and vox being taught his whole life that his base level of attraction is as dirty and wrong and perverse as the worst thing you could think of, that pleasure to him would always be shameful and letting himself truly have it would mean sacrificing everything. you know?

i'm a season three loyalist forever (shocking i know) but season two of the silt verses is definitely the strongest in terms of tightly written high-stakes but still intimate weird fiction horror drama that perfectly balances character-driven and plot-driven narrative. so many bangers. hayward's horrible catering job. carpenter's revenge. the sorrow-and-shame. the love saints episode. angel in the echoes. paige's entire arc with her father and her desire to build something better than what came before. the battle for the gulch. the twin mouths reunion, reconciliation, and inevitable betrayal. mercer, gage, and shrue all being introduced and executed to perfection as vehicles of both the multifaceted nature of humanity that the podcast aims to explore and the widening scope of the story, who both expanded on existing themes and introduced new, equally relevant ones. faulkner and mason's power struggles for control of what they see as the greater, all-encompassing narrative, which is itself merely a small story with only a few players in a far larger performance. my god that season had everything. they should showcase it in masterclasses on writing.

I know we all love shark Vox, but consider - he wasn't originally sharklike.

Someone told him he had a sharklike grin during his business meetings and his autistic ass decided to add the other shit when he was already out cold replacing his head because he could.

(He changes his head and then goes to fuck Val and Val is like WHAT THE FUCK because Vox suddenly has two dicks. He gaslights Val into thinking he always had them along with his gills, and that his eyesight was truly That Bad that he never noticed before. It works.)

Does anyone else have a bad ending or is it just the Sins?

Well if you're asking if others have "soulless forms", it's just the sins. <:) But the dynamics it creates between the sins and their old friends/family sends ripples through everyone else's stories, creating "bad endings" for them too.

Here's a few that I've been rotating in my head these past few days;

Mac and Greed. Mac listens to Greed talk, and it makes him realize he deserves a whole lot more in life, after everything he's been through. The trouble is, Mac doesn't really know when to stop taking, and it lands him in some hot water.

Mojito and Envy. Mojito choked down so many hurt feelings regarding Red Solo for so long. Jax didn't deserve him like he did. Envy convinces Mojito to just take what should have been his in the first place, no matter the consequences.

Smith and Sloth. Smith works his ass off all week and never let's himself put his guard down. Sloth gets him to slow down for once. It's nice at first. But Smith ultimately starts napping through his life falling apart without him there to hold everything up.

Elder Kettle, Greed, and Envy. The Devil wants his two best repossession men to go all the way to Isle One and "do a welfare check on an old friend of his". The old man in the empty house insists that he owes nothing, and that the two should leave before things get complicated. But Greed and Envy know better. Everyone on Inkwell owes some kind of debt.

Yarrow and Sloth. King Dice's personal tailor provides costuming and uniforms for all the casino workers, including the sins. But for some reason, he seems to take longer during Sloth's fittings, and dote on her with a sad look on his features. Sloth doesn't mind. The man seems kind of like a workaholic, anyway.

what I would really enjoy seeing is more people, if you're taking the trans butters hc and going along with Marjorine, exploring how they get from what we actually have in canon to Marj realizing she's going to transition. Which I know there's a really delicate line to walk with "misogynic guy -> trans woman" which can lead to some really bad implications if not handled correctly, and sometimes a queer hc doesn't need justification. But I really wanna know like from a character development perspective how people would get from point A to point B. Especially since so many people are really really into this headcanon right now
