So the whole town just casually assumed Asta accepted Harry's proposal? It never occurred to them that she might have said no LMAO.

A while ago, I made a bunch of zany predictions on how the showrunners will continue to gaslight team vandertrees by feeding and sinking them at the same time. And somehow I still lost to the brains behind canon:

Harry asks Asta to marry him, and it's another totally platonic bestie moment, we will affirm their FRIENDship every other sentence. But also Asta won't reject him in public or even act like she's rejecting him apparently. She also won't correct anyone who assumes they're getting married. We will close out with Harry telling Asta her virtues are her kindness and her nice silky hair. But as a friend!

one of the many things that bug me about the resident alien interview where the showrunner & some of the cast basically boo the idea of harry x asta is that it feels almost like a direct insult to alan tudyk tbh

he did an incredible job in the 1st season of portraying a character that obviously has weird alien behavior (because SURPRISE! he’s an alien!), while also communicating that harry can be emotional & even sexual in a really human way. like clearly that version of him wasn’t just the child-like cartoonish character they reshaped him into during the 2nd half of s2 & into s3, but they held onto the idea of him being childish during the interview & erased anything before that

i guess what i’m saying is that alan has range & he tried to show that in the original depiction of harry, but they nerfed him for whatever reason & i just think that alan deserves to have a love interest storyline that isn’t all toilet humor

So Chris originally pitched vandertrees. They were supposed to be together in s2. They were supposed to take care of Bridget.

Chris says that didn't work out because Alan and Sara's 'chemistry is more mother-son' and I've never heard a more absolute bullshit excuse for 'I didn't develop my main character so when Alan played him as ND read I said oh he's a baby haha' and changed the shows trajectory after the first season. BTW that's from his own mouth, he didn't even know Harry until they got Alan literally when they were already filming the pilot and then he decided Harry was supposed to be an idiot child. Like yeah, that dynamic happened bc you FORCED the child/parent thing later, that never existed in s1. Their interactions after the whole dumber Harry thing are so stiff and miserable, it's not natural the way they were before.

They genuinely won the lottery with two super attractive, talented actors who had immediate chemistry and they shit all over it. And fine don't make it canon, why do they have to be so hostile and weird about it? You're not smarter than shippers, you make a show full of poop jokes.

But what is this I'm hearing of Harry being rewritten to be more childish and his friendship and maybe-more-ship with Asta changing???
