Welcome back good buddy! Glad the grass helped, hell knows we all need it sometimes.

Grass unironically is such a good therapist, and I'm a mental health professional. Like, for real, sometimes you just need something, and it's not the same for everyone, right? But I know for me, when the malaise stick and doesn't want to leave, a very rare event for me, I know it's time to hang out in the mountainside for a couple of weeks and the Magic will just work out, trust me, it simply heals you.

There’s always going to be a ludonarrative disconnect between a series where harmony with nature and natural preservation is a core theme yet killing and farming hundreds of monsters for loot and pleasure is the core gameplay loop

But I think Wilds has at least struck a strong balance on the narrative front this time by making it seem like harming monsters is something that Hunters and the Guild are genuinely reluctant to do.

The research element is in strong focus, perhaps even more so than in World where it wa s ostensibly the very center of the entire expedition- the Wilds expedition makes every effort to try to learn more about this local environment and you are almost never given a quest that starts with the objective of fighting a monster until high rank- almost every monster you fight during the course of the story is an immediate danger to yourself or others and there are few alternatives to pacifying it.

The Authorizations that are then handed down by handlers feel like they have more meaning than just set dressing, and the more fleshed out characters help reinforce how serious the authorization to Hunt a monster is- no one wants to do this, it’s no one’s first choice and everyone in the expedition feels that way.

Which makes them all the more impactful when you do, and builds up enough narrative goodwill that when you reach High Rank and start spending more time hunting monsters for looser reasons, it doesn’t immediately feel quite as obviously frivolous. You still keep getting sprinkled with story quests that highlight the potential dangers and ecological need for slaying or capturing a monster, but it’s the work done beforehand that helps those work as reinforcements rather than justification alone.

It’s really cool to see and makes the world all that much more immersive.

So here's some picks of mine.

Nanoha (Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha) I was 18 at the time and this character and series would touch my heart forever and reminded me how sometimes it's not about saving the world, it's about saving one life. Her magical staff, Raising Heart, lives with me in my profile picture.

Sonic (Sonic the Hedgehog) My 7th birthday was Sonic themed. And I was 14 when I played Sonic Adventure 2 (perfect timing). The blue guy who showed me you can be cool and a hero. He's lived in my internet handle since I was 12 and signing up on the GameFAQs forums.

Optimus Prime (Transformers) I was a little kid, growing up on reruns of Transformers G1/G2. In those days, Optimus was like a second father to me (and like a first father to many). A role model from the start who taught how to 'be strong enough to be gentle'. He's also lived in my internet handle since the days of dial up.

That's the big top three out of the way. The rest is all gravy.

4. Kirby That happy, pink little guy with more power than the elder gods who just wants to eat cake and have a good time. I have Kirby on my t-shirt right now actually.

5. Asuka and Homura (Senran Kagura) Ninja girls from rival schools that would develop a powerful bond and friendship. This series, which sadly will never see the final game it deserved, was some of the most exciting and happy gaming times I had in that era. Just when I thought we couldn't have pretty girls in gaming anymore, SK delivered.

6. Strong Bad (HomestarRunner.com) The original king of the Flash cartoon era of the old web. I've kept up with this masked wrestle man ever since the 10th grade. The whole cast on that website makes for a good time.

7. Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Detective Pikachu, & others) The man who got me excited to watch movies again. And yes, Ryan himself is basically a living cartoon so he counts.

8. The Doctor (Doctor Who, specifically the 10th Doctor played by David Tennant) I watched the first 5-6 seasons of the 2005 reboot. This show, and specifically David's Doctor, was there to see me through a lonely time in my life.

9. Zelda (The Legend of Zelda BotW/TotK) This version of Zelda was one that really got me feeling in a video game again. 10/10 would rescue again.

10. The Lord of the Rings Just all of it.

Due to the way the ADHD brain is 1) constantly underestimulated and desperately craves estimulation but 2) hates estimulation that doesn’t pertain to the personal interests of the person, it ends up being pretty personalized due to how creative and “I’ll do shit my way” the ADHD person tends to be, but a very common, generalized baseline of how all these personal, custom methods are usually developed, an important part of their bedrock, if you will, tends to be “everything I really hate, I’ll simplify to its purest, most basic form, which leaves me with the parts I’m really good at doing, and then I just fill out the insufficient parts with the output from the parts I did great”.

It’s easy to perceive it as mental handicaps because the usual methodology of neurotypical people makes up feel like we’re doing shit weird and wrong and we could be doing it better and “why can’t I do what everyone else is doing and works for everyone else but me?”, until you realize your own method of doing shit works out just fine and you can do incredible things and most others will look at the way you do things and say “what in the FUCK is wrong with you how can you actually live like this?”, because we are our own teachers and unfortunately it is unlikely anyone can teach us how to do things, BUT we can take ideas and suggestions and, through a lot of trial and error, we end up figuring out exactly how we tick and how we can pull shit off.

This is also why I’m adverse to the majority of these “ADHD tips” posts, unless it’s very generalized advice based on how to form a methodology, more than concrete and precise tips: Concrete and precise tips are just what works for each person, and they MIGHT work for you, an ADHD person, the way it did for the ADHD OP, but they might just not work, so those posts should be taken as “I’ll try it out” more so than “OH MAN TAKING NOTES THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO DO YES OR YES”, and if it works, joyous occassion, if it doesn’t, it was worth a try but now we move on. 

As an ADHD psychologist, back when I still was a therapist and worked with ADHD kids, my advice was rarely about specific tips, rather, I’d help the kid with their homework, but not by telling them the answers, just helping them actually go through it in a way that was easy and natural to their own style, which I’d take notes of, and then we’d work out more concrete things, and we’d try out what worked and what didn’t. It usually went well, because the thing with us ADHD people is not “teach me how to fish so I can catch fish and eat”, it’s “ok, so, I know I need to learn how to fish, but the rod approach just doesn’t work for me, I don’t get it, it doesn’t feel natural at all, is there anything else I could be doing? -> yeah, here’s a harpoon, let’s see if this works, or you can throw a stick of dynamite into the lake and then collect the fish, maybe even just grab the fish outright with your hands, hell, maybe you don’t need this boat, maybe you need a pier, or to swim wth the fish, we need to find the way YOU yourself are good at catching the fish, and limiting ourselves to the rod, which is what most ‘normal’ people use, is to shoot ourselves in the foot”.

So the thing about the Frostnova tile icing is that is seeded but because it can be offset by her positioning and her respawn it's highly affected by player input data. If absolutely nothing changes between runs she'll do it the same every time, but if you have changes in slows, random crits, DPS, blocking, dodges, etc, skill timing, from levelling or RNG it can shift because it's a deterministic seed, but one that's naturally derived from the variable player input.

Not to stalk your tags overly, but what do you mean about the dorohedoro anime nerfing Nikaido's muscles? She looks pretty damn fit in that OP to me, but she was never all that shredded in the manga anyways. It's a pretty lean fit, but her anime body has a fair bit of substance without extreme definition.
