I've been hearing from my anti-Russian imperialism friends that the Donbas being pro-Russia is a plot by Russia to take Ukrainian land by killing off pro-Ukraine Ukrainians in the Donbas and sending pro-Russian dissidents to live there. Is there a source for this claim? I tried searching some, but most of the sources are from unreliable biased news outlets. I would also like to know why is the Donbas majority pro-Russia?

this is complete nonsense, lol. ukrainian nationalism biased and maidan pilled fellas left donetsk and lugansk back in 2014-2015 and there weren't many of them here to begin with (look at popular political parties in donbass and see how little nationalists were getting compared to western ukraine).

donbass was originally a part of russian soviet republic to begin with. it was transferred later to ukrainian soviet republic for practical (like to help with industrialization) rather than any kind of national liberation reasons. so historically speaking it's a russian territory with strong ukrainian culture influence. not the other way around. and the population stayed true to those roots and even decades of soviet ukrainization (which was rather unpopular here) didn't work. from what i saw a lot of people here prefer to identify as russian or russian speaking slavs over claiming ukrainian identity (in ethnic sense. in nationality sense it was more or less satisfactory for many despite strong connections with russia. until maidan.) with many of older gen missing simply being called soviets and not bother with this ethnic belonging nonsense.

#not saying there are no ethnic ukrainians here who identify themselves as such obv #but those are pretty much pro russian integration too lol #like but i don't think those big joining russia referendum numbers were faked at from my interactions with donbass people #(pretty young ones too like gen z)#this is civil war of ukrainians vs ukrainians but also it isn't especially at this stage #i heard of this 'great replacement' tale and it's such a delulu copium lol

Dorothy Counts made national news in September 1957, when at the age of 15, she became one of the first and, at the time, the only black student to enroll in the newly desegregated Harry Harding High School in Charlotte (North Carolina).

This came nearly three years after the Supreme Court ruled public school segregation unconstitutional in Brown v. Board of Education.

Counts was dropped off on her first day of school by her father, along with their family friend Edwin Thompkins.

As their car was blocked from going closer to the front entrance, Edwin offered to escort Counts to the front of the school while her father parked the car.

As she got out of the car to head down the hill, her father told her, “Hold your head high. You are inferior to no one.”

This is the beginning of the end, and this time we have a drastic shift from the previous two redesigns with like... and actual redesign of Water Hazard/orishan/Bivalvan- hmm... let's just call this Bivalvan because I've drawn him before :P

First of all- so many eyes. Clam eyes are so (relatively) freaky y'all, truly the 'people with blue eyes: *staring into your soul*' type energy, so of the 10 visible eyes, Bivalvan has an eye ring, an iris and a pupil :)

And what do I mean by only ten visible eyes, there's a lot more blue on this design than 10. That's because those aren't eyes, that's the colour of his flesh and thus, for every hole in the armour is a valve (hah!) for water flow and thus, breathing! Things like the muscles in the claws and hood and the foot visible between Bivalvan's legs and waist are for mobility, the tendons mainly for closing joints and creating a water tight seal, the foot for movement of the limbs.

Speaking of limbs, you can clearly see how different Bivalvan's legs are :) really putting in the cockroach of my personal biases. An orishan's hands are just claws akin to the ones that rest on their waist that rest inside the claw. And those claws are in fact water cannons :P

I’ve made this post before but I can’t be bothered to find it. In what we commonly consider a ‘traditional’/patriarchal European society, the paths in life are: marriage with children (acceptable), bachelorhood (frowned upon, locked out of certain professions/roles), spinsterhood in servitude to parents (probably suffering), religious servitude. An unmarried person is a servant either of the local lord, the Lord, or the parents. The parental relationship has a built-in hierarchy of the senior parents and the underling child. All pressures push down and toward marriage as a form of (highly limited for women) freedom.

One of the few ways around this system is the sibling relationship. Sticking with a sibling can provide an avenue to independence from hierarchy via a peer relationship, a person who moves in with a married sibling is protected under the auspices of that marriage (though somewhat dependent on the sibling) and is not automatically subordinate as with aristocracy/religious orders/parents. I’m interested in the sibling relationship as a kind of lifeline or shield against the buffets of social expectation specially in a world where there is some kind of censure against unmarriage and in which marriage is seen as the final step in growing up. Siblings are the playmates of childhood, they are biological family, to remain part of s biological family unit is acceptable, to remain unmarried is not, the sibling is the last line of defense against a spouse without submitting to hierarchy and/or could be read as the last line of defense against growing up.

This isn’t coherent. I like the idea of two siblings choosing to remain close into adulthood not because they necessarily like each other that much, but because they understand the consequences of abandoning someone to social forces. Siblings as a kind of delayed maturation, a sign that something is wrong, a failed evolution, a vestigial relationship, you’re supposed to be close growing up and then split into different clans, but they have failed to do so and have closed the loop to return to childhood.

I get that everyone's mad she got fridged.#but the way some folks talk it's like they think her dying was her only contribution to the story #and that's not the case at all #she has so much more going on than Purple's mom did #she's a narrative foil and a character foil. she serves a thematic purpose as well as a plot one.#it's because of her that Victim was able to connect with anyone else. he loses touch with their community once she's gone.#Rocket was her idea! it exists because she wanted it to!#and now when we look back at the last two episodes we can see her haunting the narrative #we only learn enough about Gold and about Purple's Mom to make us sad for King and for Purple when they die #but we don't really miss them ourselves #because they don't really exist outside of King's and Purple's pasts #Mitsi feels so much better integrated because she exists in the story as more than just part of Victim's story #and her influence on the story doesn't end with her death #but it feels like people believe that her dying for Victim's backstory negates everything else she does for the story #and that's the only thing they see #but I'm wondering if she's the target of everyone's upset not just because she's the third backstory-death #and not just because she's only the second overtly fem-coded character and both died in their introductory episodes #but because there WAS more to her...so people are upset that she STILL died for someone else's story?#maybe

#the evolution in halsey’s music is what i expected from solo harry #i’ve been listening to her so much this past week or two and well. i’ve been thinking #obviously i think she’s a great artist. and the more i time i spend thinking abt it the more strongly i believe this #she’s giving me what i wanted harry styles to give me #and there’s a case to be made about artistic integrity vs art for the sake of capitalistic gain #which is where i think they primarily diverge #because with hs1 there was no real guarantee of success. commercial or critical #there was an existing (pop) fan base but none of us knew what he’d give us and whether we’d like it (enough to chart it anyway)#debuting with a 6 min rock ballad was a ballsy move and it remains one of his best work for a reason #hs1 as a body of songs will survive the test of time for a reason #it set fine line up for success with the average fan. and then he sold his soul to the devil with album 3 #halsey has been on a completely different trajectory #with every album she caters less and less to critics and makes the art she Wants to make. tells the story she Wants to tell #she stopped chasing the charts a long long time and it shows in her writing!#anyway. if u get it then u get it and if you don’t then u dont #seedpost
