i swear no videogame before has ever been able to evoke such staggering parasocial attachment in me as doctor w.d. gaster in deltarune. i used to think he should stay a mystery. every single line we've got from him since then has made me obsessed with him to a pathological degree. i need to find him. i need to reach him. deltarune metanarrative officially more insane than undertale. mister doctor wingding dingaling gaster phd himself is hyping me up while i kill objects by possessing a nonbinary teenager. its me, im the eldritch horror. im the other dimensional being, im the heart-shaped parasite. and my "power" is just the fact that i keep going. i keep playing the game. thats what he finds so fascinating about us, all of us. we keep going. there will always be at least one deeply insane guy, grinding on a boss fight you're meant to lose, and when they die, they'll try again. thats our power. our passion. our perseverence. gaster is impressed. he thinks were remarkable. not because were kind or smart or strong. but because were still here. despite everything. we keep coming back. his love for us, for our incomprehensible, many-faced, many-named legion nature, is the throughline of the things he says between chapters. i love him so much
