[ID: a comic set in the parantural au, drawn in the parantural style, in which all the Hargreeves except Five are kids and Five is a teacher at their school.

Panel 1: Five's bedroom. He is seen sleeping next to Delores the mannequin. Klaus suddenly barges in through the window, shouting "Five, theres a spirit thing!" Five shouts back "WHY ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE."

Panel 2: Allison climbs in after Klaus. She says, "We tried to text you first!"

Panel 3: Five blearily checks his phone. A notification reads "Sent 3 sec. ago. Child A: 5 THERES A THING"

Panel 4: Five rolls over and rubs his face, saying "Ugh, fine, I'll come help. Just get out!"

Panels 5 - 8: Five rolls out of bed, puts on a bathrobe, and teleports downstairs. He opens his front door to find Klaus and Allison looking up at him. They both say "Hi."

Panel 9: A white box labeled "Cool spirit fight scene that I'm not drawing"

Panel 10: Five looks suspiciously down at Allison, reaching over her head. He says, "Why are you still here." Allison aloofly says "No reason. Where's this woman you married without telling anyone?"

Panel 11: An image of Delores, who is actually a giant bug spirit, appears behind Five, who looks uncomfortable. He says, "Uh. None of your business."

Panel 12: They are revealed to be standing on Five's front porch, as Five opens the door. He says "If I give you hot chocolate will you leave," and Allison responds "Deal."

Panel 13: In Five's warmly lit kitchen, Allison delightedly drinks a mug of hot chocolate and Five pours himself coffee. End ID.]

sometimes you encounter a spirit problem you can't solve on your own and you break into your teacher's house about it. and then because in addition to being your teacher hes also a family friend you decide to interrogate him about why hes being so weird and secretive. Just normal things!

thinking about how soap and graves are in total sync before the betrayal in las almas. in agreement on how to proceed both with hassan (you can't be serious / let me finish this, actual) and el sin nombre (we came here to stop a missile, lets stop it / this is our one shot, so we take it) both rejoicing the same aspects of battle (it's a beautiful sight / you know i love that shit). easy comraderie, relying on each other (let's wrap this fucker up, graves / [soap], call me when you need me), complimenting each other (good eye, shadow-1 / need you with us, seargant), working in sync when disarming a missile (we gotta move, brother. alright?) casual touches and smiles on the bridge of the ship. seemingly aligned in motivation and action at every turn.

but then after the betrayal, and las almas, the confrontation in the tank happens. and it sets up graves and soap not only as enemies, but are narrative foils, interestingly enough, the contrast that becomes clear from their verbal spat is not about action, but about motivation. specifically, the meaning about being a soldier- they argue about the uniform (hiding behind that uniform / you wore that uniform), about loyalty to the army (i shed that skin / like a fucking snake) about being perserverance (you had to make your own little army because couldn't hack it in the real one) and about honour (knock that honour shit off, johnny).

and it reframes all their interactions before the betrayal - while they worked in complete agreement before, they arrived at the same conclusions from completely opposites angles. both see themselves as soldiers, as needing destruction for the greater good, even rejoice in it - but while both see violence as means to an end, but they differ but about the means. they don't disagree about the necessity killing, but about every aspect of what being a soldier while doing it entails. i'm up to doing my fucking job you should try it sometime. / my job is to kill the enemy. guess what you are. absolutely fascinating character dynamic, i wish we talked about it more

..What if I just made one massive document that holds all of the key information for each of my selfships, so that it all can be accessed from a single link?

("key information" here would include: tags on the blog, a paragraph about the respective F/O and self-insert, then how we meet in-story, key events in the selfship (confession, significant plot points, etc.), then probably a section about fankids if I have any for that selfship)

i’m genuinely not sure what i’m gonna do if tumblr goes down. like, it’ll probably happen eventually. and i’m not sure how to make friends with similar interests outside of this site. it’s the social media site i’ve used ever since i was a teen.

the idea of losing what little contact i have with others and the outside world is terrifying to me. everybody keeps saying well just get off the internet but then where do i go?? im disabled so i dont have much opportunity to get out of the house, and i live in a conservative town. who do i talk to? being able to feel like i’m a part of something while laying in bed, the only place where i’m in the least amount of pain, is a harrowing thought.

like… legit, if any of y’all have any advice or tips i’m all ears. because i don’t know how to face the future.

Feeling silly today, so: Opinion on bread bowls?

when i was a kid clam chowder was one of my favourite foods but i didn't have it very often and one time my family and i went to boudin bakery in san francisco, and their kids menu contained clam chowder in a sourdough bowl shaped like a turtle and to baby neon that was the coolest thing i'd ever seen. they don't seem to do it anymore but it looked like this (photo i swiped from tripadvisor)

and i think about turtle bread bowl a lot so. Positive in general

TRCC Readathon update for day 4:

Currently 70 pages (just under 25%) into The Visitors by Jane Harrison

It took me a few chapters to get into this book but now that I've like Got it, I'm enjoying it. Very curious to see what happens. It's defs an interesting concept (seven elders from different Aboriginal clans discussing what to do about the British ships that are suddenly on the coast.) and also written interestingly since it's a novelisation of Harrison's play of the same name.

I'm kind of hoping to have this one finished by the end of the month but we'll see if I manage it. Probably means I'll only get two things read during the readathon but honestly I'll be thrilled if I pull that off what with everything else that's been going on this week.
