Sometimes growing up is realizing

1. Oh 12yo me did NOT understand that billdip was weird and bad, oh dear

2. I was too in denial about my queerness to appreciate old man yaoi

3. Billford is peak actually

4. Billford was abusive as fuck, but it’s so well written and it’s so interesting to look at their interactions through that lens. Seeing Ford break out of that hold is genuinely fantastic, and it’s such good writing. The writing of Bill’s abuse is so realistic, and not once does the narrative attempt to excuse it. He is an unreliable narrator in the truest sense of the word. He lies to himself AND us, sometimes without realizing it because his view of reality is so warped.

5. Bill’s behavior is explained by his past, but not excused by it. It’s so easy to feel empathy for him while condemning his actions. Alex hirsch has made such a genuinely good sympathetic villain without taking away the evil parts of him.

does it count as domestic fluff if you and levi suffer in silence together over a mountain of paperwork ... you barge into his office at half past 2 in the morning with a string of complaints and an interesting set of words you say you'll make sure erwin never hears the end of. levi can only offer you the tiniest of smiles, the cause of which is none other than your usually composed front unraveling in his presence. you march towards him, eyes fleeting from one corner of the room to another to find a spare chair to sit now that your spot on his desk is occupied by stacks of papers and folders.

when you don't find one, you visibly deflate. the frown on your face deepens. levi takes it as his cue to offer you a seat on his lap, and who are you to decline when it's clearly what he craves as well.

you settle yourself on his thighs. your head falls back on the dip between his neck and his shoulders. he tries to get some work done as you start to get comfortable, but you quickly snatch the pen from his hand, threading your own fingers through it instead.

levi decides to humor you. he lets you quietly pull and tug at his fingers, trace the lines over his palm, as he, too uses his unoccupied hand to massage your temple.

when he feels your movements starting to falter and your body going limp, he shakes you awake. regretfully so, because as much as he wishes to further indulge you, he knows erwin has set strict deadlines and neither of you can afford to fall behind.

so instead, he asks you to stand up and bring the water on his teapot to a boil before making his way out of the office. you oblige, a bit confused.

levi comes back not a moment later with your own stack of paperwork in his arms. he moves half of his stack off the table and replaces it with yours, clearing out enough space for both of you to work.

losing sleep over work isn't so bad now, with a cup of coffee and levi suffering beside you with his cup of tea. even if you're still awake by the time sunlight starts pouring into the windows of his office.

Update

So I'm getting towards the end of screenies from my last play sesh, so this's week's posts will be sporadic. I'm gonna take some time to play this week and try out the new features in the Bug Squad save. I've mostly been updating the sims and renovating this James Turner apartment for story purposes. I've also played with my test save and I liked what I saw so far. My socially awkward sim absolutely bombed her dates while her roommate with more socially friendly traits was more successful. My social awkward sim ended up with an artsy musician boyfriend who moved too fast, he proposed after their first date (she turned him down), and asked to move in after he asked her on a date (she said yes, they needed help with rent.) Her roommate's boyfriend likes spending time with her, and while I was playing with the socially awkward one, they got engaged through the "I found a ring" call, I told her to think about it for herself, I think. I haven't experienced any bugs so far, so I feel safe incorporating it into the story now. Hope your week's started off well, Happy Simming!
