Body update: it turns out that after about a year (ish) of trying to eat more healthily and avoiding fast food, my body cannot handle some of the meals I used to enjoy anymore

Hi, this is maybe a pointless question where the answer is just "that's how life works," but how do you have energy for all the things you do? You seem to be constantly juggling 50 different projects and juggling them well. You create so many community resources, do deep scientific dives on your own time, excel at work, plus maintain social and familial relationships. I was able to maintain good work performance, a hobby, and social life for maybe six months last year before I burned out

The thing is I'm juggling it badly, it's just that you see the curated version here on tumblr! I've got probably five times as many stalled and unfinished resources/projects as I have completed ones, I am in a constant state of numbness/anxiety at work (since the new company bought us I'm really, really overworked and have been putting in 10-12 hour days pretty regularly - it's why my posting and writing here has dropped off and my fiction writing is basically not happening), and I'm actually a pretty shit friend because it's difficult for me to make time to communicate with people and leave the house.

My two tricks to make it seem like I've got it together are:

Just do a lot of shit. Some of it will get finished even if you end up with a ton of abandoned projects and if you do this at a high enough volume you can still get a lot done

Join some kind of club or regular hangout event; once a month I go hang out with the same group of people i've been hanging out with for twenty years and sometimes we'll plan things outside of that group and that's most of my social life.

I am also exhausted at all times but I've got the shark version of ADHD where I feel like if I'm not doing something I'll die.

I am probably deeply in danger of burning out but I've had the same "maybe if I get hit by a car I could take a couple weeks off of school without it destroying my life" feeling since i was 10 so it's hard for me to gauge if there's a collapse of any kind coming.

Have you ever tried to get yourself to sprint by falling forward and just putting your feet in front of yourself? It's like that, but I've managed to keep my feet under me so far. I'd say "if I had to deal with any obstacles it would make me fall flat on my face" but I'm actually more productive in catastrophes so. Who knows!

Mental illness. I think the answer is mental illness. I am not a healthy example to follow and I don't want people to think that the way that I act is A) Normal B) Healthy C) Effortless D) Sustainable.

I am just obsessive and weird and I don't sleep very much and I don't leave the house very frequently. I think things were better before the pandemic, when I was doing things with the band and could go to shows because Large Bastard wasn't immune compromised, but a lot has changed in the last five years.

“Why not?” you ask.

“I haven't told them how we met,” Haechan admits.

There's a moment of silence between you. Then you both burst out laughing. Yeah, it's going to be a fun week for sure.

I so naturally fall into the grill dad archetype that a garage woodshop and saying "guess theyll let anyone in here!" to my buddy at the chilis is likely in my future.

And thats like, fine. Not every trans man is going to fall into this archetype of wildcard punk fashion chanting "be gay, do crimes." A lot of us are going to be pretty regular dudes with nothing all that stereotypically "counterculture" about us. And we'll still be trans. i like the idea of tim being the most unsettled by the platypus out of everyone. tripping him might or might not have been on purpose. we'll never know! but after a while, tim is just conviced the platypus' got some weird business about it. typical wayne paranoia, sure, but he swears there's something about that weird little amalgamation of animals he can't really pinpoint. he swears he's looking at him weird. and he swears he's scaring him on purpose, appearing out of nowhere.

"calm your tits, tim. it's just a platypus." jason says, "they don't do much."

but tim really can't help glaring at perry the very normal regular domesticated platypus whenever he's seen in reader's arms.

alfred absolutely knows about the invetions. no he will not tell bruce about them. he sees bruce and the others barely noticing reader exists, how dismissive they are, and he's like "i'll tell them to ask their father for permission first. if master bruce doesn't notice the legally binding papers or the outlandish gadgets around the manor then that's his problem, honestly."

the most he does is very cryptically allude to it, in hopes the family will take notice of reader. as expected, it doesn't work. he just lets reader do whatever they want as long as they consult their father firts and promise to be careful.

the thing about phineas! reader is that they are a regular teenager (if you take away the gifted genius who can build rocketships to the moon in a single day part) who's just in it for the fun. creating all those crazy gadgets and invetions, letting their creativity flow, having fun with their friends, spending every summer day like it's the last one before they go back to school.

if perry got them a job at the justice league, i think reader would deny it. they're not particularly interested in vigilantism or heroism for that matter. they might consider it after high school is over, but for now? all they want to do is be a teenager. not a very conventional teenager, but a teenager nonetheless.

and tbh it's more of a psychological thing, not being able to build. it's like all of those ideas are bottling up inside their head, going to waste, with them being unable to do anything about it.

well, it's not like they can't do anything about it, but having the batfam limiting what they can and cannot do, watching over their shoulder, isn't exactly providing them the enrichment they need.

but since damian and jon are determined to help, reader doesn't have to worry about that for long!

reader is actually a citizen of metropolis! or was, since they're now in gotham. a big adjustment.

the meeting between jon and reader happens thanks to damian. he's fully expecting jon to be an ally in busting his new sibling. he's complained about them countless times before, to the point jon's tired of hearing about them.

but he actually meets them and, hey, they're super cute and super cool! it's kind of amazing they come up with their inventions so fast. so he goes from reluctantly humoring damian to actively helping reader. maybe even with his own powers. damian can do nothing but shake his head and sigh wearily. jon is an idiot.

the concept is so funny, anon, but hm... i wonder if jon wouldn't just straight up tell reader about it. he wants to be included, so i don't think it'd be long before he's using his powers to help reader with their inventions.

it is at times like these the batfam has to thank the universe reader is chaotic good and would never turn to villainy. because then damian can enjoy having a super awesome sibling who gives him all sorts of elaborate weapons for him to practice with!

nevermind that he's asking for these just so he can bring the weapons you built to bruce and prove once and for all you're not the harmless kid they think you are, but that's before he realizes the weapons are kinda good. and he kinda wants to keep them, which wouldn't be possible if he handed them over to bruce.

I Assign Cosmere Characters A Random Animal As Their Pet

I'm using the random generator from this post. I've already created a list of Cosmere characters (it's just the main characters I always do, ha ha), and then I'll randomly assign them a pet and see how they fair! For the record, these results are not altered at all!

I have some fun news.

I am going to NYC to see Jimin's The Truth Untold Exhibition!!!! I'm so glad I bought tickets before it SOLD OUT! It is not sold out, only the early bird tickets are sold out. Regular price tickets are still available.

But see? That's how misinformation is spread, when one person on X screams it's sold out and random people (me, I'm random people) scroll through and see the post and run with it.... (rolls eyes).

ANYWAY...

I need to see Jimin's outfits in real life. I need to see the size and shape of that man up close and personal. I won't ever dream that I'd ever get to actually see Jimin in the flesh within touching distance but I will see his actual clothing within inches of myself and that's almost the next best thing.

I am going in June the week after the four are discharged, the tickets I bought are for June 21, the day Yoongi is released from his social service.

If there is a group live from the Hybe building lounge room couch while I'm in that exhibit I will scream with everyone else. My family will be traumatized but oh well, right?

It'll be a day to remember.

And... I discovered AFTER THE FACT that we booked our hotel right in the middle of Koreatown. I HAD NO IDEA until I started to look for restaurants and guess what? Antoya is 2 blocks from my hotel. I will take pictures. Not sure if we'll go eat there but who knows. We'll try.

Hobi wrapping up HOS tour and the HOS Final in Seoul ON FESTA DAY! And ANOTHER new song at some point!

The timing of Hobi's HOS Final concerts has been known for a long time. Securing that stadium for those dates had to be planned well ahead. I will be watching the livestream of both nights.

There is no way we will not see the freshly discharged members in some way, they will be there, in the audience or on stage or at the very least in photos from backstage. They will be there. Why wouldn't they? The timing was timed as if the Universe said "let it be so."

As far as performing, I won't wish too hard for it but they might?! The timing of these shows is just giving so much potential for anything to happen!

In a blog post on July 2, 2024, I said they would hit the ground running. Look at Jin and Hobi since.

They aren't going to "rest" after discharge. If you think that, you clearly have not been paying attention to what they've been saying for the past 3 years.

They've looked forward to all of this for YEARS, "this" meaning "this time of post-military enlistment" where nothing is in the way of their artistic freedom and living their lives the way they wish. It was such an ordeal to get to this point in time, years of delays, they are not going to sit around and let more time pass before they get back on stage.

Successful people are DRIVEN. They are ready to hit the ground running.

I am overwhelmed knowing in less than five weeks 6 out of 7 will be free. I don't want to get my hopes up but I feel strongly that at the very very least, a 7-member group photo will be shared at some point during those few days of total chaos.

I will watch the livestream of Jin's concert, but as of this moment, I am not going to go see him. Never say never though,right? But after watching his concert livestream, I might change my mind. We'll see. I reserve the right to book a last minute trip (its the way I roll anyway). I am very excited for his album next week!

This is going to be an unpopular opinion with some: Anyone who knows me knows I support all of them, right? But I gotta be real here. The AMAs are the American Music Awards. Jimin's Who went furthest over here than any of the others this past year. The no-brainer to me is to vote for Jimin for this particular award. I have to weigh the circumstances and the numbers.

The context was not taken into consideration in this case and now the votes are going to be split.

We need to be smarter and stop being driven by emotions when there clearly were numbers to show how big Who was in the U.S. this past year.

The drama and fighting was unnecessary. RPWP and Come Back to Me have won so many critical awards – real, peer reviewed and film industry awards – that trying to "give" Namjoon this AMA award just seems very manipulative.

Don't get me wrong, if Namjoon wins this I WILL BE ECSTATIC that Army actually pulled it off. But I will also be surprised if he wins because I know the votes are split between he and Jimin. I'm afraid it will be a sad situation of self-sabotage and the BP girl is going to win because of that.

In other instances, if I am faced with choosing between Jimin and any of the others... Jimin is my man y'all. It is what it is.

Regarding fans who also went on hiatus: Let the fans who took a break come back without criticizing them. Let the casual fans be casual. Just because they weren't obsessed with social media these past few years does not make them "less" of a fan or unimportant. There will always be someone doing something "more" than you in some aspect so just shut up and let them come back and get off your high horse of self-importance.

I do not sustain a constant social media presence but I'm here with my face in the BTS business every single day. I know what is going on to obsessive levels.

I also have a life, a job, family, etc that I must pay attention to as well. But in my down time, everything BTS is what I'm obsessed with. You just don't see me needlessly posting about myself doing it 24/7.

Let. Them. Be. The world needs BTS, let the world come as they are, casual, hardcore, baby Army, OG Army, everyone come to the BTS table and feast! No one has a right to gate keep the 7.

Wind Breaker DVD/BR Vol. 6 bonus content – Boufuurin Vs Shishitoren Maruhi ㊙ Talk and Battle - Part 1

This is the translation of the vol. 6 bonus with the DVD/Bluray! I did not buy it for the bonus. I did buy it because Umemiya is featured on the cover. I have my priorities right.

There's 3 (4?) main parts to this - (1) Boufuurin x Shishitoren talk, (2) Hiiragi x Sako talk + (3) battle, (4) Boufuurin x Shishitoren battle. The battles are kinda hard to understand without the video, so I'll leave that aside for now and focus on just the talks.

As these are more like talk shows, there's quite a few areas where multiple people are talking over each other; in such instances, I will be omitting some of the stuff being said if it's repetitions or if they do not add on to the main stuff being spoken.

Important: A lot of what NakaYuu says will seem very cold/ indifferent on paper, and unfortunately this is one of those things that get lost in translation. In context, he's actually playing the deadpan fool like his pal Sugitan.

(t/n: They're referring to a special video they recorded for an event in Shibuya in 2021)

NakaYuu: It's a while back, isn't it?

Yuuma: Around 2021, yes.

NakaYuu: About two years before the anime, I think.

Umechan: It's from before the anime?

NakaYuu: Yes yes yes, when you get to our level it's like that. (t/n: this is absolutely dripping in sarcasm fyi; NakaYuu can only get away with a joke like this cos he's the oldest here) You start getting involved even before the anime is announced.

Yuuma: As for the two of you (Shishitoren), you guys auditioned?

Umechan: Yes...

Toya: We auditioned and received our roles.

Yuuma: You two make a great combo, how was it like performing together?

Umechan: It's my first time working with Toya-kun.

Toya: Yes it is.

Umechan: It was really refreshing. The other cast members, I've met them quite often at other places, so I sort of know how things will turn out with them. It's only Toya-kun I don't know anything about.

Toya: For me, it's my first time meeting most of the cast members, I remember that during the first recording I was really really nervous.

Umechan: I didn't know how it would turn out, but he was very Tomiyama-ish.

Yuuma: That's the matching being done (t/n: this might be a mistranslation; he literally uses "matching" in katakana, I'm not sure if there's an alternative meaning I'm missing out.)

Sakura vs Togame

When Umechan first recorded for Togame, he spoke so slowly he was surprised, and in the end that take was used for the anime. It got easier to speak slowly as he practiced more, but at first he had to make a conscious effort to go slow.

Togame's script also had a lot of markings at the end of words (e.g. dashes), to indicate that the words should be drawn out / spoken slowly.

While filming the fight scenes, they thought quite a lot about what to ad lib and how to draw breaths in between lines. They were told it wasn't necessary to do it for everything, but on the day of recording they decided that they did want to include the ad libs and breaths for the whole thing.

NakaYuu, at the point when Sakura is kicked by Togame with his geta on: Getting kicked by the geta looks bad. (t/n: NO SHIT SHERLOCK)

Umechan: I would've preferred him to wear sneakers, it can absorb the impact a bit.

Yuuma: The geta is really hard.

NakaYuu: Of course it is.

NakaYuu, at the point when Sakura's head is stomped on by Togame with his Geta: That looks bad.

Yuuma: He's a real beast!

Umechan: Everyone, this is fiction.

Yuuma: Please don't try the same thing at home.

Happy Spooky Season, everyone! The first Saturday of October is this Saturday, which means it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, Verdant Shield [VS]! And this time we'll be doing something a little special for the season: instead of having our Halloween-themed party in November while the actual festival is running, we'll instead be taking over the Godslost Swamp (and beating Shadow Behemoth into submission a few times) for an extra spooky themed party! Bring your best Halloween costumes, your edgiest edgelords, or just your regular old selves - it's party time!

For those who aren’t familiar with art parties, they’re a concept carried over from Final Fantasy XIV - in-game get-togethers for artists/writers/creatives of all types to hang out, chat, and create together! Get your favorite character/look together, head to the location, find someone that catches your eye, and create! Afterwards, everyone posts their creations in a shared tag (ours is #VSArtParty) so others can see, interact, and share! Tl;dr: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!

Location Information:

Godslost Swamp was chosen for being easily-accessible and appropriately Halloweeny, but also a little bit because I want to shake things up in terms of what actually happens during said parties. We've been in areas where the occasional enemy spawned on top of us before, but this time we'll be set up right in the middle of a world boss, with 2 spawn times occurring during each party. So, come armed and ready to rumble, and play nice with the non-partygoers who'll inevitably show up!

Time & Squad Details:

As we always do, we’ll be having two parties - one on EU servers and one on NA ones - with an hour break in between. People tend to arrive early and/or jump between accounts as soon as the break comes up, so don’t be surprised to see tags and announcements going up ahead of schedule!

PACs don't have to be negative or provide a reality check since we never have the full context or grasp of energies. I don't think it's wise to jump into interpretations that defeat the spirit of the querents. I was talking with a friend who showed me a PAC on first time with your partner, etc. It was utterly ridiculous to go through. I personally think energies change so much between someone asking for their first time and the actual experience that we'll never really know. To put out a disheartening description and mislabel it as truthful is a malpractice if you ask me.

I'm also becoming aware of the harmful discourses on future spouses and partners that people are treating the information gleaned from the cards as fatalistic instead of suggestive of current energies. Tarot offers great opportunities to connect with the universe, and build your own language or story but it's been disappointing to see the weight people place on someone else's love rather than developing their own capacity to love. It could be misleading especially to the young ones who are extremely susceptible to external influences and obsession. Unregulated exposure to such ideas on the regular alter our brain chemistry and deteriorate our mental health. It's a form of addiction too, what I'm observing, even if it's unlisted. I would encourage anyone who's read so far, to welcome messages but not develop a fixed mindset regarding the future.

The ideas that need to solidify and crystallize in your mind are those which are beautiful, which bring peace to you, and assure you. Do not make the mistake of assuming fixed attitudes since we're still evolving. Be playful and approach things with curiosity rather than want or desire. Destiny is a beautiful thing we co-create with the Universe by tuning into specific frequencies and making choices that align with our inner truth. Your inner truth needs you to work on yourself, at least to dissolve the things holding you back or creating resistance in your being. What's meant for you will then come to you effortlessly. The goal posts of the Universe keep shifting as you upgrade and the peace you experience as you integrate these ideas will actually leave you content.

Hello everyone! Back to update here again though it's been longer than it should be. I really thought I'd updated here like...a couple of weeks ago but turns out...no.

It's been over a month. How it's been a whole month, I don't know. That timeline does not make sense in my brain.

So you might be asking why I don't just set up reminders for myself. And the answer to that, my friend, is...I have reminders. The problem with regular automatic reminders is that over time they stop being effective. I literally do not notice them.

And that's kind of where my google calendar reminders are at the moment. I get them and my brain refuses to acknowledge them. I do update Patreon weekly (most of the time. I won't pretend I don't occasionally forget over there too) and Itch monthly. It's just that juggling multiple update avenues is tricky.

ANYWAY. I went through recently to clean up some of my reminders because I hope that getting fewer of them will make it so I actually notice the ones I'm getting.

But let's jump into the actual update.

Summary Bullets:

Finished both new sprites for Chapter 6

Released the Chapter 6 beta

Made some corrections based on testing

Worked on the Ch 6 game guide

Made a Ch 6 teaser *points*

Finished Yren's character teaser.

Started somewhat working on Ch 7 here and there to get a head start.

Art:

Since my last update, the big "art things" I've done include - finishing the character teasers. I don't even know which was the last one I posted here. I may have only posted like...two on tumblr. But they all exist so there's that!

I finished the teaser for Chapter 6...Again. *points*

And I completed the two sprites I needed for Chapter 6.

Since Ch 6 doesn't have any CGs, I didn't have to worry about doing any of those so I've been able to focus elsewhere but there wasn't, ultimately, much art to worry about this time around in the first place.

Writing:

Finished and coded all of the POV scenes - about 10,000 words of content total.

The POV scenes this time around revolve around the love interests reflecting on the events of Chapter 5 and how they are beginning to feel (or how they have been feeling for a while now) about the MC.

The Chapter 6 update - including the bonus scenes - ends up bringing around 43,000 words of new content to the game, pushing the total released content to over 250,000 words.

A bit under 50% of the current total.

Of course, because the scenes are tied to Chapter 5, you have to replay to unlock them. I still haven't figured out how to do that retroactively yet. Since I haven't even decided what all the bonus scenes will be or where they will go.

Though I guess a slightly clunky method does come to mind.

Anyway, that's a problem for Future!Me.

Other Stuff:

Since my last update, I obviously did a ton of coding - finished all the sprite expressions, finished setting up the flowchart, finished glossary articles and translations and all of that. And just basically got the route fully functional.

I also fixed some errors and bugs - like one that was breaking the glossary.

I added a new toggle for the sound notification for the glossary articles. Because there are now glossary articles with descriptive text that unlock for every location and person you meet (for accessibility reasons), the sound notification is a bit intense at the start of the game. So I thought it was best to allow people to turn it off.

And of course, the fact that I released the beta version to testers on Patreon means I have been correcting some typos in that as well.

Fortunately it doesn't seem like there are any huge bugs this time around.

...SO FAR. LoL

But it's only been a week so...who knows?

Upcoming Weeks:

I will probably be releasing the EA version before my next update here even if I post the update on time. I am thinking within a week or so.

I need to focus on getting the game guides done before EA so that will be my main focus for the next couple of days, and beyond that I'll continue to fix any errors or mistakes testers find.

And, of course, also getting the preliminary parts of Chapter 7 set up in advance of really buckling down to work on it..

(Currently working on staging the sprite positions and appearances in Chapter 7)

If Chapter 6 is the set up for upcoming plot events, Chapter 7 is where things start falling into place and some of the many, many theories people have come up with start being proven or disproved.

Chapter 6 is likely to be the shortest episode I release. I had thought about releasing it along with Ch 5 or with Ch 7. But the problem is that Chapter 5 and Chapter 7 are both *really long*

Chapter 9 is technically shorter than Chapter 6 but I think I'm going to release Chapter 8 and Chapter 9 together.

If I do that, it means 4 more episodes and each one will be...really big.

Chapter 7 - 75k

Chapters 8 & 9 - 90k

Chapter 10 - 89k

Chapters 11, 11, & 13 - 114k

And that's without any bonus scenes or additional endings or anything.

I think it's a nice breathing space for me before we get into the monster episodes which is...all that's left (unless I break up the two multi-chapter episodes, which I may end up doing for sanity. WHO KNOWS. There are pros and cons either way.)

Just found out while replaying SDR2 that there's an oversight in the PSP version similar to the DR1 oversight, that later gets fixed in the Vita port.

These images I pointed out last post from the commercial, these beta ones? They're mistakenly used in the student handbook.

I just took a photo of Hajime and Nagito, but this goes true for everyone.

To compare, here's the vita version (aka the version resold for PS4, Steam, Xbox, iOS, etc...):

I know some people may have a hard time noticing the difference. For Hajime, the seam line on the shoulders of his shirt is not present in the PSP version. For Nagito, his smirk was changed to a smile, and you can see the neck lines were heavily reduced in line weight.

So, of course, I ripped them.

The PSP has very small image quality. And the sprites for the handbook were made with the purple color and tile already as a part of them. But, if we layer them...

The tile is actually just transparency. The only sacrifice to layering them is some thicker outside outlines...but we'll deal. And, with some color-layer magic...

It's kind of incredible, actually. It's almost like having these sprites for real!

It's so weird "having" the beta Komaeda smiling sprite after talking about it so much...but here we are, I guess.

Okay, so to start with Hajime. The shoulder seams were added, but also his left shoulder was made bigger. Some minor hair details were changed, including adding a longer spike of hair next to his ahoge. Also his right ear was touched up.

Nagito's hair was thinned out a little in line weight, along with his neck lines. Eyebrows were thinned out, nose redone, and his smirk changed to a regular smile.

Fuyuhiko was changed quite a bit. Head reshaped in some areas, hair retextured, and they even moved his neck. The sizing is wonky because they obviously resized/moved some parts around, which I didn't want to mess with for the sake of comparison. One thing I love is his little pout. I'm so sad they got rid of it! It's so cute...

Kazuichi's is interesting for multiple reasons. 1, I genuinely did not see any differences until I recolored it, which leads to 2: his shirt was going to be grey?? Some of these sprites have minor color differences, but I chalk that up to recoloring a purple sprite. I think some minor differences in color here and there is going to happen. But this isn't a minor difference - it was clearly going to be grey originally. I wonder why that was changed? They easily could have left it as is, but I guess they cared enough to change it to white...

Otherwise, some minor changes to the face were made, as well as his jawline.

Gundham on the other hand is also one I didn't catch until I did the comparison. The right side of his head was entirely redrawn to have more volume, along with his ear. His jawline was puffed out a little, and his hair line cleaned up a bit.

Since looking at the original commercial and seeing the beta sprites, Mahiru's stuck out the most to me. Her eyes made her look a lot more disinterested than her final sprite, and I do maintain that. Her beta sprite had narrower eyes, a lower nose, smaller mouth, and overall thicker outlines. Her left sleeve also lacked its emblem.

Hiyoko, I can't find any big differences...the ones I do see may just be a result of two different photo resolutions making stuff seem off. Her smile may be different, but that's about it sadly.

Much like Fuyuhiko, I actually prefer the beta Mikan sprite. Her mouth was once more nervous, and her gaze was more upwards and slanted than forwards. I think it's super duper cute and I wish they kept it!! Otherwise, her hair outlines are thicker, including the hair in the back being a little bigger. Her neck was thinner, too.

Peko got minor changes. Her neck was slightly enlarged, her left ear was made smaller, and her eyelashes were reduced. A part of her bangs was modified as well.

Some of Ibuki's shirt folds around the chest area were erased, and her frown was changed to a neutral look. Her nose was also unsharpened a bit.

Chiaki's bangs were fiddled with in their line art. One line of hair in the back was reduced, and the curly hair under her chin was also modified at the tip. Looks like her nose was also softened and her eyes were made smaller.

Most of Nekomaru's changes are very small and in the face, making it hard to see at this resolution. Thankfully, V3 erroneously reuses his beta sprites, so we have an easy way to look at them in better quality (which I will touch upon in my UTDP post). Otherwise, his eye lightning is much brighter in the beta. As for Mechamaru, I could find no differences...

Imposter's is one I'm really happy to see, because we rarely ever see beta Imposter sprites. I theorize this is due to the fact he was one of the first characters ever finalized in SDR2, so likely not much beta content of him exists...but we have this thankfully!! Some changes were made to his eyes but the most noticeable difference is the resizing of the sprite. His head was made smaller and his body bigger.

Teruteru has minor changes. His necktie was made slightly bigger at the end of it, and the hair by his ear was erased a little. I can't tell if his eyebrows/mouth are slightly different or if that is again the result of the image quality.

Sonia's is super interesting because it throws my beta sprite workline theory into a doozy. See, it looks almost identical to this beta Sonia we see on the official SDR2 promotional wallpaper. But there's noticeable differences. Her eyebrows are lowered, her right eye has most than one difference in its eyelashes, and her nose/smile seem different. Again, these are the differences between this beta and the one on the wallpaper. I can't for the life of me tell if these are ACTUAL differences or, again, the product of photo quality pixelating everything...

As for Akane, hers are also very small. Some lines on her hair, her mouth, and her boobs were changed. A bit of shading around the collarbone, too.

And that's everyone!! Really amazing stuff...I might have to investigate DR1's student handbook to see if there's any differences there. Who knows, we may get super lucky again.

Hi! Yeah! I'll make this into a master list and kinda go through the process starting from programs, your game settings to editing in a photo editor and any little details. I want to try and make it as accessible as well, normally I use photoshop. However, for this tutorial, I'll be trying out Photopea!

Programs and Optimizing your game:

☆ This posts links a majority of my editing tuts but this one in particular has a texture pack which I'll be using in this tut

☆ Here I go over SWRE settings. Pictureamoebae goes into depth about the program/links it here. It isn't necessary but it does help maintain the quality of a photo without needing to crop it. I won't be using it in this tut but it could be something you try out in the future!

☆ I do run my game with custom settings, here's a picture of that! Edge smoothing is off for reshade purposes but for this tut, it's on high as well

Angles and Lighting:

☆ For this tut, we'll be working with Rowan! The composition of a picture is always an enjoyable part for me, I'd be lying if I didn't say I spent at least 25% of the whole process setting up a photo. The first photo shows the environment more and almost makes Rowan look smaller in a bigger world. Meanwhile the second, it feels like we're at Rowan's level and seeing the world through his eye. Both are good, it's just what do you want to communicate? I was actually gonna go with the first but I sorta like the second now and that's because of the sky

☆ Which leads me to the next part, the lighting. Lighting sets a mood for everything and I could yap about color theory for days but for now, I like the color of the evening sky. The purples look nice against the orange and greens! Lighting indoor is trickier but you can still manage with the placement of lighting fixtures. I don't like to use overhead lights in game because it just gives my sims weird shadows with reshade but it could be different for you. Also here is this neon light set I love using in case you want to use color indoors! They're a lot more vibrant that just the regular old ea lights

Editing:

☆ I felt like the easiest way to go about this is a video! I tried to keep it to the basics but as time goes on you can add different skills like drawing in hair, going in depth with color grading, etc. I did forget to include the curves layer because in photoshop that's grouped into Camera Raw Filter but honestly, for this tut I think that's okay. Curves layer just allows you to get really precise with how much highlight/shadows/whites/blacks are pulling in the photo as well as a brief intro to color grading. Anyways here is that video backed by the beautiful soundtrack of SKYRIM-

an update if anyone is interested (though i realize it's a probably v limited audience) i've actually decided for this rashid/armand fic i'm not going to post chapter by chapter after all, but i will go back to waiting until they're all finished and then posting at regular intervals, because it is overall a much less stressful method for me.

currently looking like there are going to be 16 chapters? that may change though we'll see.

someday i will be able to write a simple fic that doesn't become a sprawling long disaster..... someday.....
