I wanted to draw teen Sidon and Bazz hanging out in Sidon's room, so it was a good moment to finally plan out said room study (that is just a part of his quarters).
It's actually Dorephan’s old quarters, repurposed after he outgrew them. He's responsible for like, half of the clutter, the rest is all Sidon.
#botw#sidon#bazz#zora#loz#zora architecture#Sidon having that much -stuff- is doubly impressive seeing how average zora has like#maybe three personal items that are not weapons#jewelry or tools#bazz looks at all this and all he can think of is three centuries of nonstop fight with mold#the desk is swithed for a bigger one every 20 years or so#luckily they have a bunch of progressively larger desks and chairs from Dorephan’s growing times#there's no doors or windows since zoras arent too worried about privacy#if sidon really wants there are folding screens and seaweed tarps that can be set up for some extra coverage#they're also used during strong storms to block out the rain from damaging the study#also!#bazz compares the study to his (and Seggin’s) house and i wouldn’t have included it if i didnt have it at least roughly sketched out#its much more normal for a zora living space#just a bit bigger#but before i post about it i have to make up my mind about the general housing policies in the domain#caring about fictional politics makes my life so hard

❥﹒♡﹒☕﹒𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆
organization: i know it's the most trivial advice in the world, but i swear it works. before doing anything, i take my planner and review everything i have to do, i divide the study by subject, amount of things to study and review spaces for exams. realistically, you can't expect to do it all in one day, but a good plan could almost allow you to sleep at night!
a clean workspace: i can't fucking concentrate if there's a mess aroud me, i get distracted easily, even by dust, so before i start studying i always deep-clean my desk. i know that not everyone can afford a personal and quiet place to study in their houses, so try to find yourself a small angle where you can really focus.
go to study in a library / café: i didn't believe it at first, but it's actually useful. if you have the opportunity to go to a library or a café after school ( or near your house ) do so. being surrounded by people who are studying like you really helps to focus, you'll be less inclined to get distracted and procastinate. i would feel uncomfortable using my phone in a library with other people who are doing their work while i'm sitting there scrolling on tumblr.
breaks: ik ik, not very blair waldrof, hermione granger, spencer hastings, rory gilmore of me, isn't it? but is it worth it. sometimes i end up having really bad headaches from studying and, even if i keep studying, the quality of my work decreases significantly. breaks are fundamental. i would not recommend using social networks for your beak, because they litteraly drain your attention, rather do your skincare, prepare yourself a snack ( eating is important! it's what makes you focus ), read 10 pages of your book, dance a little bit in your room, do stretching, go outside and buy some mint chewingum, something like that.
EAT!: girls, boys and theys, we know. i honestly think that almost every person that craves academic validation ends up developing a sort of eating disorder. it's not even the food, is the fact that you are too busy studying that you forget to eat, ignoring stomach cramps, or the fact that you didn't get that answer right and now you don't feel like you deserve the lunch. i understand bc i AM like this, like you. but think about it: you need to do it in order to survive ( but this is secondary to the grades, right? ) and to keep your brain active. you can't walk around with blurred vision because you haven't eaten or drunk for fourteen continuous hours. i swear that eating like a normal human being helps you to keep going.
sleep: same thing as eating, but with our terrible sleeping schedules. i know that school is toxic so we end up finishing our homeworks at 2 am everyday ( if we're lucky ) but when you have the chance, take a nap and recover.
repeat things as if you were explaining them to someone: this is litterally the fastest way ever to learn fundamental concepts when you're studying. imagine that you're talking to a friend that doesn't know anything about the subject that you're studying and try to explain the topic to them. finding simple words for a difficult topic will help you understand it thoroughly, on this basis you can then build an articulated and more academic speech. repeat things out loud, doesn't matter if you look crazy, you already are <3
check and organize your notes the same day: i never have time to take proper notes in class, so i review them as soon as possible, with the lesson still fresh in mind. it really helps me understand the subject and makes the further study much easier.
watch youtube videos: youtube is my favourite class. sometimes teachers are dumber than students and you, who don't have a degree in that subject and are tackling a topic for the first time, don't understand a damn thing. ofc not!! sometimes professors are terrible at explaining stuff, but fazal from pakistan isn't. i passed my physics class with a 10/10 thanks to an indian guy on youtube. documentaries and yt videos are a simple and nice way to understand better topics and do insights for extra credits.
delete social media: i'm gonna do another post specifically for this.
"STUDY!" wallpaper: last but not least, the dumbest yet the smartest advice, set as lockscreen a white / black / whatever background with a big fat "STUDY!" written on it. everytime you're about to pick up your phone and procastinate the wallpaper will scold you.
hope this was useful or at least fun to read byee

There's a lot of lines in Amongst Our Weapons that make me want to wave my arms around and yell incoherently about Peter and Nightingale and how far they've come and how much they mean to each other, but right now the one I want to yell about the most is this one from right at the end:

Image text: 'The wider the base, the greater the stability of the building,' said Nightingale. 'You taught me that.'
Because, like. Peter wanted to be an architect. The thing he always wanted to do was to build things. And look what he's built! He hasn't just rebuilt the Folly as it was, he's built something modern and completely new out of its constituent parts and he's done it by caring about people and being interested in how things work and by what Beverly jokingly calls 'compulsive networking'.
And everything he's done for the Folly, he's done for Nightingale on a personal level too.
Nightingale was So isolated when Peter first met him. His police colleagues didn't want much to do with him, his social circle seemed to consist of Molly and Dr Walid and not much more, he was completely out of touch with the modern world. And to his credit, he was the one who decided to take on an apprentice, but that was pretty much all he was planning to do. Train up a replacement for himself in case he got killed, pass on the Forms and Wisdoms properly, keep the status quo going.
But he chose Peter, and suddenly he's got an apprentice who wants to study the science behind magic and modernise the Folly's record keeping and work out better ways to liaise with other police and fundamentally Make Changes. Nightingale ends up with all these connections through Peter, to Beverley and the other Thames girls, to Lesley, to Abigail, eventually to the rest of Peter's family, to other police like Guleed and Stephanopoulos and unfortunately for him Seawoll... He has people he can rely on, and who choose to rely on him, and not just for magic -I especially love how Peter's mum eventually starts using him to babysit Peter's dad, and the fact that he helps Abigail's family with her brother. He's not alone anymore, and he goes from just living to genuinely thriving.
And it's all down to Peter, and what the two of them have built together. In fact, they've built something so significant that in a few years Nightingale isn't going to be necessary anymore. He's been Britain's Last Official Wizard for seventy years, all the weight of that tradition resting on his shoulders alone, and in a handful of years Peter has helped him to build something that'll be able to take the weight instead if he wants it to. There are people who can help do everything he's been doing alone and more, so finally he can think about what he actually wants for himself. (And don't even get me started on his arc re: teaching and discovering that it's what he wants to do for the rest of his life, I Will start yelling even more.)
And it's Peter who's taught him to let other people take the weight. That you can build something stable and lasting if you're willing to share the load. The wider the base, the greater the stability of the building.
Not bad for a wannabe architect who can't draw, huh?
#rivers of london#peter grant#thomas nightingale#amongst our weapons#once again I am deeply emotionally compromised by that book and those two#and like. the fact that peter's architecture thing comes off as just a fun character quirk#but then you think about it and it's kind of Fundamental to the themes of the whole series#which is about Building#building connections building systems building Better Things#and our protagonist is a guy who couldn't be an architect#and his mentor is a guy who slowly realises just how much he wants to be a teacher#Waving My Arms Around And Yelling#wizard nonsense tag

A headache pulses between his temples as he makes his way back to his room. Which is less of a “room” and more of a cell carved out of a chunk of temple that the warped reality of the place had decided could be semi-permanent. Sometimes.
Surprise! Bet you weren't expecting two posts in the same week, let alone something from an earlier chapter :b As always, go read A Dark Among the Lights by LuckyLectio on AO3!
The room's design was influenced by Ganon's Tower in alttp, featuring a door mimic from the Minish Cap and (a bit obviously) some malice from botw. It was fun adding little details while keeping with the empty vibe I got from the description in the fic. Get this man a bed, not even necessarily to sleep in but just to have somewhere comfy to rest.
#my art#dark link#adatl#file name: Home is Where the Weapons Are#bonus points to people that know what exactly Dark is walking towards#hint--it's highlighted :3#the perspective was a bit tricky...i may or may not have leveraged the fact that the dark palace's architecture is naturally a bit wonky#dark temple...whatever XD

I'm a lil confused by your diagram of murderbot's arm gun in that recent ref with three. what's the bit on the bottom?
i'm not too sure exactly what sketch you're referring to, but this sounds like a perfect opportunity to infodump about poorly designed machinery and hopefully that will answer your question lol
hence! okay so basically i went full "disregard what's actually in the books because vibes" when i designed it and mb's energy weapons system is comprised of two separate cannons, the wrist cannon and the forearm cannon. why? because it needs at least a little bit of space for musculature in its arms if it wants to be able to use it's hands, and so splitting the weapon up allows for better space management.
however, we also know that the bond company produces shoddily-made units, right? and they'd likely put more importance in cramming as much firepower into their units than like, keeping it safe ("whatever, that's what it has the cubicle for right?") which is why mb could reasonably shoot its own hands off if it's not being careful. no one ever thinks to fix this, even when secunit hand materials become their most-ordered item by far.
anyways all this is to say, the bit on the bottom is either it's hand (hinge-operated wrist that moves the hand out of the way (like more than normal wrist movement would allow for) in order to use the wrist cannon), or the wrist cannon itself (telescopic, literally built into the ulna and radius)
as an extra; this is contrasted with three's singular cannon design, which functions both as a part of the forearm as well as a gun, because whoever designed three's model of secunit actually used their brains and had better resources, likely. which is why it doesn't risk shooting its hands off. however, the weapon housing does coincide with like, where the ulnar nerve (funny bone) would be in a human, and because its weapon system doubles as musculature... well that's why that ikea-cabinet thing comes from lmao
and yeah lol i really hope this answered your question and thanks for the ask lol

( 🇪🇸 ) latest erasmus update
i've finished my year abroad! i took my final exams at the beginning of june and i'm happy to announce that i passed all of them with very satisfying grades — some even better than i expected. i passed a physics exam i was absolutely sure i’d fail, and i'm over the moon because now i have the whole summer free and i’ll start my third year in september without any backlog.
now i just need to get the exams officially validated in italy, but unfortunately bureaucracy is slow and it’ll take some time.
i’m extremely grateful for the opportunity i had to spend a whole year in spain — it has given me so much, both on a personal and academic level. i’m happy to return to my country with so many new experiences under my belt. thanks to my wonderful design professor, i had the chance to grow as a designer and to take the trip of a lifetime to japan — a journey that changed my perspective in many ways, and that i’ll talk about more in another post.
despite the ups and downs, the struggles of adapting, and the initial language barrier, i’m incredibly happy to have finished this year with such great results. if you have the chance, i highly recommend applying for study abroad programs — if you approach them with awareness, they’ll give you so much more than grades and academic knowledge.
if you have any questions, feel free to ask here or in the question box. i hope to become more active again and post more now that i’m back in italy.
sending a big hug to you all <3

I Don't Believe It
This song is a bold and introspective journey that captures the raw emotions of longing, ambition, and self-discovery, woven through themes of personal relationships and resilience. Opening with the line "Babe, are you ready to finish up?" the track immediately sets an intimate tone, blending vulnerability with confidence. It explores the intricacies of human connection, highlighting moments of infatuation and curiosity with lines like "I'm a little lit off your look, a little lit off your love." The artist’s candid storytelling creates a vivid narrative that pulls the listener into a world of fleeting moments and lingering emotions.
As the song progresses, it delves deeper into existential musings and the pursuit of individuality. Lines such as "Y'all got a dream, an entertainable, ain't no one else can see it" reflect the artist's determination to chase a vision unseen by others. The recurring theme of disbelief in societal norms is evident in the declaration, "I don't believe it, no I don't fucking believe it," challenging listeners to question their own perceptions of the world. This defiance against conformity and external judgment underscores the artist's steadfast pursuit of authenticity.
The song also touches on the importance of identity and the struggle to define oneself amidst external pressures. With lyrics like "If it ain't you, then they gotta leave in a cheat," the artist emphasizes the value of staying true to one’s essence while rejecting those who attempt to impose limitations. These reflections are paired with a raw acknowledgment of life's challenges, encapsulated in the line "All that's wrong with the world, it's hard not to hate." Yet, amidst the chaos, the artist seeks hope and redemption, striving for "a victory today."
In the latter half of the track, the artist transitions into themes of ambition and self-reliance, culminating in the powerful declaration, "Yeah, I live to fight another day." The narrative shifts toward empowerment, with the artist envisioning a brighter future tied to success and fulfillment. Lines like "The money that's coming, well it better be great, it better be a number that I wouldn't hate" embody a refusal to settle for mediocrity, while "Let me teach you how I skate, it's just a sprint" captures the relentless drive to push forward.
The song’s closing lines, "Smoko Locomotion, Smokomotion," reflect the artist's unshakable identity and momentum, delivering a resonant reminder of individuality and persistence. This track is a masterful blend of personal reflection, defiance, and ambition, creating an anthem for those navigating love, purpose, and the complexities of modern life. It leaves listeners inspired to embrace their dreams, face their struggles, and fight for the life they envision.
I Don't Believe It: Lyrics:
Babe'* are you ready to finish up/ Ain't anyone ready to finish up/ Bae I'm a little lit off your look a little lit off your love/ So could I get a little something something for the effort/ Something to remember you by and where might I find you this time tomorrow/ Because I'm a little busy right now but I'd really like to get to know you/ And I can't say I'm ever getting old now that I've seen you/ Y'all got a dream an entertainable ain't no one else can see it/ And no one's gonna tell you that the world's just how you need it/ I don't believe it no I don't fucking believe it/ Do you have a story that I can tell/ Well then I don't want to fucking hear it/ I don't want to hear it out of you and you can bet you won't hear it out of me/ If you can keep a secret they'll make you just who you want to be/ Ain't no bad time to tell them who you want to be/ Ain't no bad time for them to tell you who you gotta' be/ Because if it ain't you then they gotta' leave in a cheat/ And who wants cheats/ They're saying it's you you know it's you/ So what do you gotta' do/ What do I gotta' do/ How do I get all this what I'm supposed to get on/ Where do I start/ All that's wrong with the world/ It's hard not to hate/ But who's got time for your take/ I'm just hoping I can escape with a victory today/ Babe are you ready to finish up/ Ain't anyone ready to finish up/ Babe I'm a little lit off your look/ A little lit off your love/ So could I get a little something something for the effort/ Something to remember you by and where might I find you this time tomorrow/ Because I'm a little busy right now but I'd really like to get to know you/ And I can't say I'm ever getting old now that I've seen you/ Yeah I've got a dream and entertainable ain't no one else can see it/ And no one's gonna tell you that the world's just how you need it/ I don't believe it no I don't fucking believe it/
Would you really wanna be a thing just something a muse/ How could they sweep the offer/ What if they were holding hostage the light of day/ No ain't no blood man like red/ Now if you ask me if you ask me if you ask me/ The right question I might have something to say you/ Yeah I live to fight another day/ The money thats coming well it better be great/ It better be a number that I wouldn't hate/ Let me teach you how I skate/ It's just a sprint/ Smoko Locomotion/ Smokomotion/ Do you even know the name/

You are who I think of when I think of practicing Catholics, someone who genuinely cares about their religion and who doesn't use it as a weapon against others. Except for when they have to sadly police their own fellow "Catholics", but that's an extenuating circumstance.
At least for me, and also to my friend group as we've had a similar talk about religion and those who abuse it, I don't lump people like the woman you were arguing with in the main groups Catholics. It does suck that that entire thing had to happen in the first place, but growing pains still apply to beliefs. It's up to her now if she wants to take this as a learning moment, but from seeing further interactions I would be surprised if she did.
All in all, you bring a good and strong representation to Catholics, thank you for taking the time out of your day to explain what is wrong and right, I actually did learn stuff!
I like when people like a character so way too much that it transcends even self shipping or kinning and becomes more of a patron saint that you pray to type of deal
#“it does suck” i say as though i didnt have popcorn out while reading but im going to blame it on the religious trauma#but for real though. it really does suck. i have no doubt that illiterate peasants in the medieval times have a better understanding#than some people do in the modern age. mostly i think its because of mob mentality over the generations but that doesnt#excuse the complete misunderstanding of the book that they live by. what happened to love they neighbor?#and even though its luthern (how i was raised) theres also “and forgive my trespasses as i forgive those who trespass against us”?#im still pretty sure theres still some prayer in equity to that one in catholicism. which is why when people who use their religion as a#weapon make me see them as false believers. or people who are severely (an understatement) misguided in their religion#is heretic appropriate in cases where they use religion as a weapon and dont care about it at all? its not this one but idk the differences#idk the most interactions ive had with catholics was on early 2000s tv shows and architecture nothing about the culture(?) of catholicism#just wanted to be extra clear but i wasnt calling a heretic its just a /genq
