Immediately after Wrestle Kingdom, the big show that brings in both new and lapsed NJPW fans, and Wrestle Dynasty, the AEW crossover show that was intended to bring new overseas fans to NJPW... New Japan management decided to take the only commentary staff member who speaks any Japanese at all off commentary for two months? So the only remaining English language commentator will just not have any clue what anybody is saying during the entire show? Right when a large influx of new English speaking fans is expected? And they're doing all this just as Kidani, who owns NJPW's parent company, was complaining to Tokyo Sports about how NJPW isn't getting enough overseas fans? Have I got that right?

Random little post, here’s Basia!

I’ve been developing her more and more as a character lately because I think she deserves it

Sidenote: yes Basil and Basia have the same surname, Basil was born with his fathers surname but when he was about five Basia had it changed because 1. She doesn’t like Basils dad and 2. She preferred her and Basil to have the same surname on their documents

With that out of the way! I’ve thoguht about drawing a young Basia for awhile now, I think when she was younger she had a similar sort of nerves to Basil, when she was a kid she had a stutter but shook it off as she got older

Before he left for the war Basia’s father took her hunting and showed her how to skin animals, he did the same for Basia’s sisters of which she had two, Basia often found herself a caretaker for her younger sister, while the oldest of them and their mother took care of the household work

The life Basia led as a young girl left her a jack of all trades kind of person, she knew a little bit about anything, but she knew a lot about nothing- she was the kind of kid that just slipped into a room without you noticing and listened to you talk, but by all means she stayed the more mild mannered type, Basia knew a lot but didn’t really love doing any of it except hunting with her father, but when he didn’t come home she mostly abandoned that and didn’t pick it up again until she had a daughter of her own, whom.. took little interest, eventually she got to share that love of hunting with Basil but by that point she’d gotten older and they didn’t get to do it as often as Basia would have wanted, she wished more then anything she’d get to watch that boy grow up and learn what she’d wanted to teach him but it didn’t end up happening

Alright okay. So this is the part where my AU becomes relevant, I’m gonna tag this post normally so if you don’t care about that I’ll put it under a cut

The real reason I wanted to have a desgin for Basia when she was Basils age is because this version of her… is a marzenie character, Basil when he was a kid found an old photo of her and now she sort of just appears in his dreams that way, she represents something Basil feels like he lost but never really had… more time with the only family he’s ever known, seeing her young, as she in a time Basil did not exist, is comforting to Basil- it distracts him for a moment of the reality where she isn’t the same… where the person who resided him is loosing herself and fading farther every day into the grip of death

I’ve discussed this before but Basil was named after her, the person he is relies on the influence she’s had in him, she’s more a mother to Basil then his real mother ever was, Young Basia is the only presence in Marzenie that has no malevolent undertones or secrets or hidden symbolism, she is a memory, she is a tomb of a person who is slowly ceasing to be, when the real Basia dies this will be her archive, Basils mind will be the only place that captures her accurately, as she was, both at the end of her life and much closer to its beginning

Another thing I’ve alluded to is that at some point Basil had a completely different place in his dreams, Marzenie as it is only formed after the incident like with what happened for Sunnys headspace I believe they both had a dreamscape before just much smaller ones that they didn’t interact with as often, it all ties into how I think about headspaces (cough cough, my Mr Outback analysis, cough cough), I think once upon a time Basil’s dreamscape was a simple flower field at dusk with only one other person, a familiar person much like himself for him to confide in where no one else would ever hear.

YEAHHH I’m probably a fake fan tho bc I actually haven’t played any of the games except for V3. The reason I got into it is bc the Game Grumps played the first two games on their channel so I watched their playthroughs and got totally hooked :’D

As for my favorite? OOF that’s tough but I’d have to say V3, probably because of the attachment I have to the cast, similar to you! Kaito is everything to me I love him so much 😭 I also really love Maki, Shuichi, Chiaki, Hajime/Izuru, Makoto, Kyoko, Fuyuhiko, Gundham, and Sonia <3 Saimota is all I care about in the world they deserved to have a happy ending agghhh

Oh actually here's a question for you guys bc I have gotten curious. How long did it take you and your partner to get together after meeting each other? (Or alternatively if you knew each other for a long time, how long did it take since the initial er... courting for lack of a better term?)

Which mystical/mythological creature do you find most fascinating?

mhhhh I've never really thought about it idk. I like the idea of werewolves a whole lot but I feel like I talk enough about them. I think Wendigo are very interesting, anytime there's a hunger motif I am there. Kelpies also come to mind. There's also Kitsune, but I think I like Kumiho (the korean version) just as much. kind of out of context mention to the four wind gods in greek mythology, Zephyrus my beloved. God I love greek mythology by the way.

I think big issue rw/by has just as a show is it being confused with its own identity. It wants to say it's a feel-good shounen-esque good vs evil hopepunk love triumphs all story but at the same time it desperately keeps wanting to put its characters into moral quandaries with no clear correct answer.

So you end up with weird situations like with ironwood and the white fang where a character makes a decision to do something and the story seems to be trying to convince you that was the Wrong decision and Evil and Bad while you as the viewer is left there going is it really? Is it?

It wants to be mob psycho but it can't help but ask questions like "hey do you think extremist groups are okay when it comes to minorities asking for equality? and would the minorities being catgirls change anything" and I'm over here with my popcorn and anime theme song going I dunno man, I just work here please leave me alone

It's halloween night and you're watching a scary movie on your own. Your close friend and next door neighbour can't get your attention and so they enter through the kitchen door. You hear a noise and grab your gun thinking it's an intruder. As your neighbour walks into your livingroom to ask to barrow some sugar you panic and open fire shouting Yippee Kayayyyy mother ****** . At this point your neighbour lies dead. Fireworks being set off outside hide the gunshots.

I'm not too surprised at the result. I did think dumping the body next door and blaming burglars would be popular 😄. I initially voted to own up and tell the cops everything but I'd probably end up doing 25 years in a maximum security prison. Not too sure I made the right choice 😄.
