Oz, to his credit, does finish the rest of his soup. It definitely wasn't something he'd willingly eat again if he could help it, but he's very certain Alice would have enjoyed it. It was simple enough, at least, that he probably didn't need to ask for a recipe.
"Oh, I see." Oz nods, a polite hum in the back of his throat. "Are your siblings all like you?" He ventures, innocently curious.
War didn't claim to be a cook; he just did what was palatable to himself and left it at that. He actually preferred the meat raw and bloody. Stewing meat in a pot was simply to make himself seem less terrifying. It was difficult to interact with the local population when nearly all of them avoided him or cowered in fear at his presence.
"Hrm." He slurped up some of what he had in his bowl before responding to the stranger's question.
"Not anymore. It is just myself, and my three siblings."

Stop Running (Cordelia x Wilhemina x fem!reader x Ally)
idk what we got here, but its reeeeeeally long and made with google translate..so excuse me
summary: you have to meet the son of your girlfriends and he reminds you of ur dead brother and all the memories of ur childhood come back
warnings: suicide, depression, scars, child abuse..
Being in a relationship with 3 women at the same time was probably something like the jackpot. Before, you didn't even think you'd get one and now you had 3.
You still remembered the night these three women came into the club where you worked as a waitress. In the beginning it was just little things like saying 'please' and 'thank you' when you brought them something. Most of the people who came to this club got drunk too quickly to be polite.
Then they started asking you questions.
âWhat's your name?â
âHow is it possible that a pretty girl like you works in a club like this?â (a question that made you blush)
âHow can we get your attention?â
And at one point you gave a shit about your work and sat with them for the rest of the night. And at dawn they took you to their bed with them. You were the only sober person that evening, but the next morning none of the 3 were surprised or angry about your presence.
It had developed into a frequency, every Friday night they'd come to the club only to leave with you at the end of the night. And at some point it became more.
The trio had piqued your interest since the first night, which was probably because there were three of them and later you wanted to know everything about them. You found out that Ally was widowed with a son, that Wilhemina had her cane with scoliosis and that she had a secret fetish for the Victorian era, and that Cordelia was the headmistress of a witch's school, they all lived in.
And at some point you had to find out that you were in love with all three at once.
You loved Mina's severity and how proud she walked despite her scoliosis. No one had ever walked so gracefully with a cane, you were sure of that.
You loved seeing how gentle and balanced Delia was with everyone.
And you loved Ally when she explained the world to you and was the smartest person in the room.
The problem was that you were too scared. These women had known each other for a number of years and you had only known them for a few weeks. How many times have you wondered if you were just a distraction for her bedroom?
You were ashamed of this question and started avoiding contact with them. But when they confronted you, you finally revealed your feelings to them.
They weren't angry, on the contrary, they started laughing.
âââââââââââ
"We thought you knew that we love you too and were now afraid that you would avoid us because of that .." said Delia.
"Oh .." you mumbled confused.
"We're sorry we never made it official .." Ally said, putting a hand on your knee. "We thought it was obvious .."
-----------------------
And now you've finally been living with them for a week. You almost lived with them anyway. You knew the big building of the academy almost by heart, Delia's girls knew and liked you, and most of the time you spent in the trio's rooms instead of your own little apartment.
There was a little problem though: Oz, Ally's son.
Ally had decided it would be better if you didn't meet him until you officially lived with them. It wasn't up to you, but the circumstances were very complicated. If one mother died and you had two new ones, you didn't need a third.
The night you found out about Oz's existence, Ally had also told you the story of the Cult and how she killed Ivy.
â
"I want there to be no secrets between us. And I'm not proud of what I did, but it's part of me now .." she had said.
"We have all done things that we are not proud of .." was your reply.
â
The three of them tried to prepare Oz for you as best they could, which wasn't difficult because Oz wasn't a complicated kid. And you had been confident, because actually you got on well with children.
"Oz is in his room .." Ally said as she walked into your living room. She grabbed your hands to pull you up from the sofa before kissing you on the cheek.
Both of you were at home alone at the moment, as Delia and Mina were working afterwards.
You gave her a warm smile and together you went to the boy's room. Ally knocked on the door briefly before opening it. Her hand never left yours. A blond boy was sitting on the bed reading a comic. "Oz, this is Y / N .. I told you about her .." Ally said. The boy, Oz, raised his head and looked straight at you. Your breath caught at the sight of him.
He looks like Leo, was your first thought.
This little boy looked just like your little brother had looked that age. You got dizzy. All that you repressed in the last few years suddenly all shot back into your memory. Your abusive father, who hobbled on a stick because of his broken leg and didn't fail to punish Leo or you for anything senseless. Your alcoholic mother who drowned her frustration in alcohol and was never there when you needed her. And Leo, your Leo that you loved so much. How many times did you want to run away and stay because of him? Then this picture shot in your head, you were 17 at the time and he was 15. One day you came home and his dead body had tumbled from the ceiling by his belt. He couldn't take it anymore and you hated yourself so much that you didn't notice.
"Honey?" Ally's voice brought you back to the present. You looked away from Oz, who was now looking at you in confusion, and fixed your gaze on Ally. "I thought it would be better if I gave you some time alone .." she whispered.
"Sure ..", you nodded slowly.
She smiled and squeezed your hand. "Good .." was the last thing she said before leaving the room.
You stood lost in the boy's room, who by now was fixated on his comic again, and didn't know what to do. You wanted to run after Ally, bury you in her arms and start crying. But you knew that it probably wouldn't go down too well with Oz, so you just paused.
"She's happy again .." Oz suddenly said without looking up from his comic.
"Excuse me, what?"
"I mean mom .. she laughs a lot more .."
"Didn't she do that before?", You were confused.
"Yea .. but it always seemed so forced .. When Delia and Mina started to meet her, she felt like shit and she had to get back to normal, she was somehow sick or something like that .. I think she is happy to have someone who didn't see her as this wreck and that's why she's happy .. "
You didn't answer what he said because you couldn't judge it.
So it takes three women to replace one .. you thought and immediately hated yourself for it.
"What are you reading?" You walked slowly to the bed and sat down next to Oz.
"Avengers .." he muttered.
Inside you were relieved, at least something you knew.
"And do you like it?", You looked into the book and began to read along. "It's cool .." he said curtly and read on.
"That's Civil War .." you stated after two minutes. Confused, he looked at you sideways. "You know it?" "Of course.." He nodded shortly before looking back into the book. "Are you Team Cap or Team Iron Man?" You asked. "Although I like Iron Man more, Team Cap .. The way Shield is fighting him here sucks," Oz said and you nodded. You noticed the Iron Man movie poster hanging on his closet. "Have you seen the films?" "Nope .." he shook his head. "Mom won't let me .." "How old are you?" "11 .." "Okay well .. maybe I can talk your mom and we can watch her together .." you said.
"Are you serious? ..", he looked at you skeptically. "Yes .." you nodded. "I mean it's her choice, but I don't think the films are that dangerous you can't watch them .." "That would be cool .." he muttered, staring at the Iron Man poster.
--------------------------
"How about Oz, Y / N?" Asked Mina, who was sitting across from you. You looked up from your meal.
"Good .." you mumbled briefly
"Good ..?" She repeated before taking another sip of her red wine. Her eyes were still attached to yours.
"Yes ... I think I'll be able to make friends with him .." you added when you noticed that your answer was a bit short.
It was 10 p.m. and the four of you hadn't eaten with the other girls and Oz as usual, but only did it now because Mina had come home so late. And you had been noticeably quiet, still thinking about your Leo.
Ally put a hand on your knee under the table as she always did to calm you down. "You seemed very ..", she searched for words. "impressed? I don't know .."
"Uhm yes .. I was a little bit overstrained ..", you tried to smile at her, but you could still feel Mina's penetrating look. Like she's trying to look inside your head.
Cordelia, realizing the tense mood, let out a laugh.
"Overstrained would also fit our attitude when we met him for the first time ..", she said and threw a loving look at Mina.
"yeah?" You asked confused, because Cordelia always got on well with everyone.
"Oh yes .." she continued. "Ally had also left us alone with him and we didn't even know what to do .. I think it is already difficult for a child to accept one new person in the mother's life and then two ... it was all a little bit complicated.."
"And what did you do then?"
"We ended up playing Monopoly .." she said with a grin. You started to laugh. "Monopoly?" "Yes and in the end Mina was angry because she had lost .." You looked at Mina, who blushed. "Those were the wrong rules we were playing with .." she muttered. "You're just a bad loser, honey .." Cordelia said, still grinning.
Smiling you looked back and forth between the women. "So are you all right?" Ally asked again, drawing your attention back to herself. You nodded quickly. "yes, it's all good. Oz is great .. so he told me that you wouldn't let him watch the Marvel films .. they really aren't that bad, I think it's okay .."
"You think so?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Jesus Ally, don't feel criticized right away..I just mean that I could imagine watching them with him..you know, then this thing with befriending him might work better ..", you said and started playing with your fingers
Her eyes relaxed at your words. "I think that's no problem .."
------------------------------------
The next day you lay on the sofa, tired, trying to get some sleep. At night it was impossible: every time you closed your eyes, you saw the picture of the dead Leo in front of your eyes.
Ally was sitting at the end of the sofa with your legs in her lap, her fingers running over them, while she was reading an article on her cell phone.
An approaching knock made you flinch and your body stiffened, which Ally didn't go unnoticed. This is your father, you startled for a moment.
"Don't worry, Princess .. outside of the bedroom, Mina's walking stick is no danger for you .." Ally said to you and laughed.
She might found it funny, but her words made you scared, not that you wouldn't be interested in this type of sex ... But the thought of Mina hitting you with her stick made you feel uncomfortable.
"Oz is looking for you Y / N ..", Mina said as she entered the room and saw Ally and you on the sofa. You nodded briefly and jumped up to go to the boy. "Thanks Mina .." was the last thing you muttered before you left the room.
Oz was in his room, as expected. You knocked just before you entered. He was sitting at his desk doing homework.
"Mina said you'd look for me .." you said and stepped up to him. "Are we watching Iron Man today?" He asked without looking up from his duties. "Today?", You were surprised. Ally had given Oz permission to watch the movies with you at breakfast, but you didn't expect to start today. "Yup.." "uhm...Sure" "Cool ..", he raised his head and grinned crookedly. Leo shot through your head. "See you later Y / N .." "See you then," you mumbled and left his room.
A few hours later you were sitting next to Ally's son on the sofa and tried to concentrate on the film. Oz sat next to you, focused on the film and just made a few comments.
The whole evening was relatively relaxed until Oz put his head on your shoulder and immediately you were a 13 year old girl again and next to you was not your lover's son, but your 10 year old brother Leo. You weren't in the living room either. You sat crouched at the end of your bed, Leo next to you, his head on your shoulder. The TV had turned into a door that you and Leo are now staring at, concentrating on the voices behind it. It was your father fighting with your mother. Your heartbeat quickened immediately. You could hear his footsteps as he hobbled his stick down the hall. It became harder to breathe when you saw the doorknob move down and-
"It works better than I expected.." Ally's voice whispered and you were immediately back in the living room.
"Is everything okay?" She asked confused when she saw your distraught look. You nodded slowly. "Yes-", you stuttered. "I'm just a little surprised, I thought it would be more complicated to make friends with Leo .." "Leo?", Ally sat down on the sofa and pulled her sleeping son into her lap. "Oz ..." you corrected yourself quickly. "I have no idea how I come up with Leo .. in the film someone was called that .." "You're shaking Y / N .." Ally remarked and saw you concerned at. "I'm sorry," you looked down at your trembling hands. "I'm just very nervous about Oz I think .."
Ally smiled. "You don't have to .. you're doing great .."
------------------- -----------
The next morning the 4 of you, Oz and the other girls were having breakfast together.
"That was cool last night, Y / N .." Oz said suddenly and your attention was on him.
"I think so too ..", you smiled gently at him.
"What I can think of .." Ally remarked. "I have a meeting tonight and Mina has to work late ... so you'll be alone with Oz ..." She looked back and forth between you and Cordelia. "I'm out .." Delia said and sipped her coffee. "Misty and I are going to the greenhouse tonight .." "Oz and I can come with you..I am sure that Oz-" "Misty and I want to be there alone, Y / N .." Cordelia shot you an apologetic look.
"Oh okay ..", you looked carefully at Oz, who was too busy with his food to catch anything in your conversation. "That's not a problem for you, is it?" Ally asked. You shook your head quickly. "No.."
So the subject was off the table and Mina's eyes stabbed your skin again. Although she hadn't said anything, she was probably the one who felt your discomfort the most.
In the evening you and Oz had dinner alone and at first everything went well, you talked about the movie from the previous evening over dinner and you didn't have to think about Leo at all.
"okay .." you started and stood up. "I'll tidy up the kitchen and that's when you finish your homework .." Oz grinned. "Whoever finishes first .." he said and ran out of the room. You had to smile when you started washing the dishes. 10 minutes later Oz walked slowly into the room and you immediately noticed that something was wrong.
"What's up?" You frowned. Oz without a word took out his soccer ball and a few broken pieces from behind his back. "What's that?" You asked calmly.
"I finished my homework and was playing with the ball in the living room. The ball hit Delia's vase and it fell from the cupboard .." he whispered and looked at the broken pieces in his hand.
You stared at him and saw Leo again and wondered what your dad would have done to him now. Tears stung your eyes. "I can't do this anymore .." you sobbed and buried your face in your hands.
Oz looked up at you with wide eyes. "I'm really sorry, Y / N! It wasn't on purpose ... I-"
"Oz no-" you said quickly and crouched down to look at him directly. "I'm not mad at you .. You know, I'm even glad that the thing is broken .. To be honest, I found the vase totally hideous .." "Really?" He asked skeptically. You nodded and tried to smile. "Are you hurt?" "No .." he shook his head.
"Well ... let's clean up the mess now and please don't play with the ball in the house anymore."
---------------------------
"Something is wrong with Y / N .." you heard Ally say to Cordelia the next evening.
You actually wanted to go to them in the living room, but when you heard your name, you couldn't help but stop to hear what they said about you.
"What do you mean?" You heard Delia ask. Ally seemed to think twice about what to say. "Oz told me last night that she started crying when he told her, the vase was broken .." she finally said.
Fuck. You closed your eyes
"I would probably have cried too, I liked the vase .." joked Cordelia. Ally groaned. "That's not funny Delia .. When I walked into the living room the day before, when Oz and Y / N were watching this movie, she also looked totally scared. She was shaking and looked like she was going to cry any moment .." she said.
Delia hummed thoughtfully. "Did you ask her about it?" "She said she was so nervous about Oz, but I don't believe her .. I guess-"
"What are you doing here in the dark, princess?" Mina's lips to your ear made you jump.
"Jesus, Mina .." you cursed and turned to your girlfriend. You could see her grinning in the moonlight that shone in through the hall window. "I didn't hear you coming .."
"If you can't even hear me coming, then you must have been really distracted .." she said, sounding somehow sad. "Let's go in. Unless you want to keep staring at the door here ..", she reached past you to open the door. You gave way and pointed into the room. "Age before beauty .." you just said and made her laugh before she entered the room in front of you.
The previous conversation between Ally and Delia never seemed to have taken place because they both just sat there, Delia read a book and Ally scrolled through her cell phone.
--------------------------
"Happy Birthday, Princess ..", Cordelia whispered in your ear in the morning and let you wake up. "How do you know that?", You grumbled tired and slowly opened your eyes. Delia sat next to you in the Scross-legged in bed. "I am the supreme, i know everything ..", she said smugly and let you snort in annoyance. "Of course you do .." you mumbled and sat up. "Where are Mina and Ally?"
"At work? Honey, it's 11 am .." Cordelia laughed. "And what are you still doing here?" You asked confused. "Can't I spend time with my girlfriend when it's her birthday?" She smiled sweetly at you.
"Do the others know ..?"
"Nope ..", she bit her lip. "I kind of felt like you wouldn't like it if we knew ..." "I don't either," you confirmed. "Still, you'll be sad when you find out .." she muttered.
For a moment it was quiet between the two of you and you just stared at each other. And just as you were wondering how Cordelia could look so good, even though she had just woken up too, she leaned over and kissed you.
"mh delia-" you protested against her lips.
"What?", She withdrew disappointed. "I actually wanted to give you your present now ..", she grinned and enjoyed how you blushed at her statement.
"At least let me brush my teeth beforehand .." you mumbled embarrassed and jumped off the bed.
"Hurry up, princess .."
---------------
In the late afternoon you sat across from Mina at the table. Ally was still working and Cordelia had arranged to meet Misty in the greenhouse. Mina was reading the paper in thought, a habit that you found incredibly cute. You yourself were playing some random game on your cell phone when the message tone on your cell phone beeped.
Message from Joanne: "Hello Y / N, I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. I'm going to your city next week because I have to go to the doctor and wanted to ask if you would like to meet me?
~ Joanne. "
Your heart quickened on the last sentence. Joanne was your mother and wrote you every year for your birthday, you had never even answered one of her messages and now she wanted to see you again after so many years. She would come here and there was nothing you could do against it.
"Y / N ..?"
You raised your eyes to Mina, who was frowning at you.
"You're hyperventilating .." she remarked emotionless.
"I'm just dizzy ...", you gasped and stood up to run into the bathroom, or rather to stumble into the bathroom. You could feel your stomach turn as you leaned over the toilet and vomited into the toilet bowl.
The world around you seemed to be spinning. The closed bathroom door became the door of your nursery, you could even hear the knock on your father's stick. And how he got closer and closer. You tried to scream, but your mouth was only a soft gasp. Tears stung your eyes. "Please .." you tried silently to get air. A hand put on your back and you instantly jumped away from the toilet. "Please don't hurt me ..", you whimpered and looked fearfully into the face of the person in front of you.
Mina stood in front of you in shock, she had never seen you like this before. And the look you gave her broke her heart. "Honey you need to calm down .." She sat carefully on the floor and grimaced as pain ran through her back. Slowly she reached out her hand to touch yours, which was a mistake. Your hand jerked back, you reached out and let your hand fall against her left cheek. "Don't touch me .." you growled. "What the hell Y / N .." Mina hissed, grabbing your cheeks and forcing you to look at her. "It's me, princess, Mina ..", she whispered and felt her own eyes fill with tears. Your eyes widened when you recognized your girlfriend. And with that you finally broke, but Mina was there to pull you into her lap while you cried into her blouse. She held you as tightly as she could while trying to process the things that had just happened. The cheek your hand had marked on it burned like fire and yet it was impossible for her to realize that you had just hit her. It had never been you, she thought. And yet it was you who was lying in her arms right now.
"I'm so sorry .." you sniffed into her blouse when you had slowly calmed down. Mina gently put her hands around your cheeks and searched your face as if it contained any answers for what had just happened. She swallowed just before speaking. "Are you scared of me, Y / N?"
When her words reached your ear, you wrapped your arms around her torso and did your best not to hurt her. You felt so damn guilty.
"I would never hurt you .." she said softly against your ear, her voice thick with tears.
"I know Mina .." you whispered. "And I could never be afraid of you .."
You drew her back before your fingers slided down her right cheek where your hand marked it. "I'm so sorry .." you repeated your words from a few seconds ago.
"I'm fine Y / N", Mina assured us and took your hand. "I'm just worried about you .. I've been watching you for the last few days, you're acting totally strange .."
"I'm okay .." you mumbled and stood up with shaky legs.
"Don't damn me lie to Y / N! ...", she hissed and there she was again, the strict Mina you loved so much.
"Mina .. I'm really fine, you just shouldn't worry .. That's why I would prefer if Ally and Delia didn't find out about what just happened ... "you said as you leaned towards the mirror to fix your hair.
Mina shook her head blankly and propped herself up. "You are unbelievably Y / N .. two minutes ago you were lying here on the floor and now you're pretending nothing happened ... You won't be able to run away forever .. "she said, took her walking stick and walked past you to leave the bathroom.
You had never spoken to anyone about it, nobody knew about what had happened in your family and actually you had sworn to yourself that you would never tell anyone about it. Simply because you felt terrible about it, somewhere Leo's suicide was also your fault because you weren't strong enough to defend him.
You ran into the hallway and saw Mina sitting at the table again. Lost in thought, she looked out the window. "I think I'll go to sleep, I'm relatively tired ..." you said. Mina didn't move an inch. "You probably won't see me again today .." you muttered and went into your bedroom to actually get some sleep.
---------------
A few hours later you woke up from a bad dream.
It was dark and the first thing you noticed was Minas lavender perfume that surrounded you. Then you realized that, despite the events of the previous day, you 4 had taken your usual sleeping position: You and Ally were in the middle. Cordelia on the right edge, next to Ally and Mina on the left edge, next to you. Mina had her arms wrapped tightly around you and your head was on her chest. Like a few hours ago in the bathroom, you noticed.
Are you scared of me, Y/N?
Mina's words echoed in your head. The sad look she gave you made you feel infinite guilt.
"Mina?" You whispered softly against her neck.
"mhm ..". Mina hummed in her sleep.
"Are you awake..?" You knew how stupid and unnecessary that question was, but you couldn't help it.
She didn't answer at first, before moving after a few seconds.
"Now yeah .." she muttered as she pressed her nose against your hair.
"I just wanted to say, I love you .." you whispered and played with the purple fabric of Mina's pajamas.
"I love you too, princess ..". Was her answer and she kissed you on the forehead. Then it became quiet again and after a few minutes you could tell from her breath that she had fallen asleep again. Unfortunately, in contrast to her, you were wide awake and therefore decided to get up. Carefully you free yourself from her arms and sat up in bed. Confused, you noticed that the place next to Ally, who was sleeping sweetly, was empty. Where was Cordelia? You carefully climbed out of bed and went to look for the blonde, only to find her in the bathroom. You crept and stopped suddenly when you saw Cordelia lying in the bathtub.
Cordelia gave you a warm smile when she saw you and you couldn't help but laugh out loud. "What's so funny?" Cordelia grinned. "You .." you uttered, still laughing. "I?"
"Yes. You .. It's two o'clock in the morning and you sit here in the dark and bathe ...". You trotted to the sink. "It's not completely dark, I lit candles ..", Cordelia defended herself. You shook your head in amusement and washed your face.
"You're sweating .." Cordelia remarked, referring to the sweat stains on your shirt. "Didn't sleep so well .." you replied curtly. "I guess you don't want to sleep again either ..?" "Nope .." You turned back to her.
"Well ... then I would love it if you kept me company here," Delia said and smiled again. You shook your head again, just grinning, before you pulled your shirt over your head and went to the tub to get into the water. Cordelia sat down so that you were sitting in front of her and your body was leaning against her bare torso. She carefully put her arms around your torso and rested her chin on your head. You lay down for a few minutes Just there and you would probably have fallen asleep had she not spoken.
"Mina told us about your dropout this afternoon .."
Of course she did..
You closed your eyes "Why don't you just tell us what's going on Y / N?" She began softly. "We're really really worried." "I can't Delia .. I've never talked about it .." you whispered. "So do you admit something is wrong?" You snorted. "Of course something is wrong .. I hit Mina."
"You know that she's not angry with you, she's just worried as I said .. You know, no matter what is on your mind, we all suffer with you, no matter whether you tell us what's going on or not .. ", Delia said and ran her wet fingers through your hair. You just nodded at her words. "You could only tell one of us if that helps you.", She offered, although she knew that this would also bring new problems. "No, I trust you all .. It's just that, as I said, I've never told anyone about it. I am just afraid of your reaction .. "you said.
"Oh y / n ..", she sighed and turned your head so that she could look you in the eye. "No matter what happened, we love you so much and nothing could change that ..". Again you nodded.
Then suddenly she got up and grabbed a towel. "What are you doing?" You asked confused when you watched her get out of the tub and dry off. "You pull the plug and get dressed ... Meanwhile, I'll wake Ally and Mina, we'll finally talk to each other .." she said and put her nightgown back on before she ran out of the bathroom.
"You won't do that, it's the middle of the night .." you shouted after her.
"I know."
You climbed out of the bathtub, trembling, and drained the water. You dried yourself off quickly and got dressed. Before you left the room, you took a quick look in the mirror. You looked like you were going to cry any minute.
"We're in the living room, Y / N .." Cordelia suddenly called. For a moment you closed your eyes, then you slowly walked into your common living room. Your 3 friends sat on the sofa and stared at you expectantly. Cordelia sat with her legs crossed, her hair wet and her short nightgown on the right end. Ally was sitting cross-legged to her left. Clad in a T-shirt and shorts, she narrowed her eyes against the light. And at the other end sat Mina, in her purple pajamas, her long red hair curling on the fabric. Her left hand held her walking stick and, as always, her gaze seemed to shine through you.
You sat in the chair in front of them when Ally held out her hand to you. "This is not a fucking interrogation Y / N ..". You carefully took her hand and she pulled you between Delia and herself. You stared nervously into your lap and played with your fingers. You could still feel their expectant looks.
"Oz looks like my little brother ..." you suddenly let out. "Is that all?" Ally asked confused. "No .." you shook your head and waited a few seconds. "..my childhood wasn't that great ... my mom had a big drinking problem I guess..". "And your father?" Cordelia asked. "Uhm, well ... he hit us when we didn't do things the way he wanted ..."
Briefly there was silence in the room. "That's awful Y / N, but what does this have to do with my son ..?" Ally finally asked.
"My brother committed suicide when he was 15 because of my parents .." you said and heard Ally take a shaky breath. "And actually I had repressed all of that over the years and when I saw Oz ... I only saw Leo ...".
You got up and walked to an unpacked box with your things. You came back with a picture, which you put into Delia's hand. It was a family photo. Delia stared hard at the photo. "Your father had a walking stick .." she said suddenly and you instinctively looked at Mina, who was staring lost at the floor. Her grip on her own walking stick had tightened so much that you could be afraid it would be squeezed by her fingers. "His left leg wasn't healthy ... that's why he hobbled ...". Delia passed the photo on to Ally, who only had eyes for the blond boy next to you. "Well .. he actually looks a bit like Oz ..", Ally only mumbled and wanted to pass the picture on to Mina, but she just shook her head. "I do not want to see this..".
Again there was brief silence and again Ally was the one breaking it. "When I told you about Ivy and said I don't want any secrets between us, I actually assumed you'd think that way too..That's why I'm kind of angry Y / N..I mean, Do you don't trust us?"
You just wanted to speak, when Cordelia came before you. "She wasn't ready yet, Ally..She-" "Cordelia, I asked Y / N and not you .." Ally hissed.
"I've never told anyone about it ..." was all you said. "But we're not just anyone .." Ally sounded disappointed. "I didn't want you guys to think wrong of me .." you said softly. Cordelia leaned forward and grabbed your hand. "What happened is not your fault .. it was your brother's decision and your parents' fault .." "But maybe I could have done more .." you whispered, tears gathering in your eyes. Cordelia just sighed and pulled you into her lap. You leaned your back against her chest and listened for her heartbeat.
"And what was yesterday?" Asked Ally. "Something must have triggered your strange behavior .." "My mother texted me .. she does that every year on my birthday .." you said.
"It was your birthday?" Ally looked at you with raised eyebrows.
You nodded briefly and made Ally moan in frustration. "If you don't even tell us that anymore, then-" "She said she would come here next week because she has to see a doctor .. She wants to meet with me .." you interrupted her. "But I don't want to see her ..", you felt tears running down your face.
Ally just shook her head and crossed her arms over her chest.
"You should have talked to us much earlier Y / N ..", Mina finally said. "Even if this is all new now, we are a family and it is our job to make sure that you are okay. We would never have left you alone with Oz, had we known about your brother .. Not just about you to protect, but also because of Oz's safety. It's important that we trust each other, we've all been through complicated things .. " You nodded guiltily again.
Cordelia cleared her throat. "The scars on your back, you told us they were from a car accident, is that true?" "No .." you said. Suddenly you felt Delia's cool fingers pulling up your shirt and exposing your scars. "Delia what-" "Shut up, Y / N .." They'd all seen your scars before, but knowing that those scars were someone's craft, made them look a lot more brutal when Delia gently ran her fingers over them. "Did he? ..- asked Mina. You nodded and tears fell into your lap as you let out a sob. "I'm sorry," you said, holding a hand over your mouth to stifle your sobs.
"Damn Y / N, stop apologizing ..". Ally jumped up, stood in front of Delia and you, pressed your head against her flat stomach and rubbed your upper back with her hand. Delia's fingers continued to slide to the scars on your side. "Was that him too?" She asked softly. "No .." you answered. "Then who was it? Your moth-" "It was her, Delia .." Mina interrupted her with closed eyes. How could they have been so blind? Such scars did not appear in car accidents.
"Is that true Y / N?", Cordelia's voice trembled when she asked. "I'm so sorry .." you sniffed at Ally's shirt. "Back then I didn't know how to deal with everything .." "Shhh princess .." Ally cooed. "Please finally stop apologizing for something you can't do anything about .."
"Honey, do you still hurt yourself sometimes?" Asked Mina, who had slipped up to you and put her hand on yours.
"I've stopped doing that since Leo's death .. I think he saw me with a knife sometimes ..". The thought of it brought new tears to your eyes and made you sob one more time.
Cordelia pulled the fabric of your shirt back down before leaning her head on your back and wrapping your arms around your waist. Mina, who was sitting next to Delia, was the only one who could see her tears as she reached out her hand to gently run through Delia's hair. "Some things are going to change now, Y / N .." she said firmly. "We'll be more careful about some things and we'll also have to see how we deal with Oz without it being uncomfortable for him or you. I'll contact your mother and make it clear to her that you don't want any more contact. We can't stop Oz looking the way he looks, but we'll help you deal with it because that's what we're here for .. ". Her thumb brushed the back of your hand, which was in her lap. That was the last thing that was said that night, but you stayed in that position for a long time. You in the midst of your worried lover

Interdimensional Moms pt4
Part 3 here! <-
The tales had be interesting. The tales had even been emotionally gripping, yet all of them so far didnât seem to register at the moment as Rubyâs teammates looked at her with the same excitement she used to give her own mother during story time. Ruby couldnât help but give a little smile.
Ruby:I take it youâre ready for my turn? You do know itâs not exactly a sunshine and rainbows story, right?
Weiss:We figured as much, but....
Yang:Youâre so different! From the moment you showed up I could just feel it in my gut. You have this...presence about you. Not to mention intsene confidence.
Blake:Yang is right. You said you beat your Salem when your seventeen. Thatâs...scary if Iâm being honest. Such a drastic departure from any of our worlds.
Ruby:*red* Hehehe ummm I guess Iâm just awesome? Really I donât think itâs the most outstanding feat. At least by my worlds standards I suppose. I mean sure, Iâm consider cream of the crop there too but thereâs talented people and challenges all over that would put me through my paces still. Iâm just...me.
Weiss:Sigh...honestly, I suppose that means our own skills must pale in comparison to our counterparts.
Ruby:Mmmm I wouldnât say that for sure. My Yang would kill me if she heard this but thereâs something about the one right here that has spark I dig.
Yang:Really?
Ruby:Uh huh. Canât put my finger on it but I think you take her if you want it bad enough. As for Weiss....couldnât tell ya. Haha, I know better than anybody to not underestimate the power of mother, and you pumped twins out.
Weiss:Not sure if those are pity points or real ones but thanks either way.
Blake:You donât even have to tell me Iâd lose. Just gave an entire story about me an my condition.
Ruby:Donât feel too bad about it. I canât imagine much reason for you two to fight for any reason. Youâre both too reasonable to not reason with yourself.
Blake:Aw Iâm touched.
Yang and Weiss:We arenât....
Ruby:Hahaha Iâm just saying! So, I guess I take things from the top like you all? From what I learned from all of you our Beacon experiences really are more or less the same, not counting certain interactions between a bookworm faunus and an adorkable blonde knight. Enrolled early, blew up the entrance, Weiss was rude, Yang ditched me, all the same beats.
Yang:Thereâs no super badass change like you beating Cinder the night of dance and making our entire lives easier?
Ruby:Ha! I wish I was that legit. No, I was very much the young girl tripping in heels that night. Vytal festival came around and was attacked, then Beacon fell. Pyrrha was lost and so was Penny. Difference being that was my last time seeing her, unlike Weissâs story apparently.
Weiss:Yeah that...thatâs a little bit of shock to be frank. Sorry.
Ruby:No worries. Not like you did anything and it was decades ago for me now. After that day is when I started to get a bit more serious I think. I had always taken being a huntress seriously and never slacked of in trying to live my dream. However, my perspective may have honed in on just how do or die life his when youâre the one choosing to walk into unknown danger. Team RNJRâs first and only mission, save the world!
Yang:Sub mission: Flirt with Jaune Arc.
Ruby:*blushing* We do not choose who we fall in love with it. But yes, that may have been a personal pseudo mission for me. Heâs my first friend at Beacon for crying out loud and I you know.....thought he was cute then too.
WBY:Yeah that checks out.
Ruby:What does that mean!?
Weiss:Ruby, even my Ruby admits to finding Jaune attractive and having a crush on him back in the day.
Blake:Same.
Yang:I already went into enough detail on how my little sister feels about Jaune. Your just the reality where you pounced on the opportunity and never let go. Struck when the iron was hot and none of us were around; sly fox.
Ruby:Gee you make it sound underhanded. It isnât like I intended to actively pursue him. Everyone was really sad and stressed traveling to Anima. There was a tension in the air. One that really strained us. I did my best to keep focus, but a leader is only as put together as team. Ren and Nora confided one another as usual and I tried being there for Jaune because seeing him emotionally shut down was rough; so I did my best to be there for him. Then...he ended up being there for me and I was the one who needed comfort. All the airing out and late nights just...led to....*red*
Blake: âBreaking the tension?â
Ruby:I guess thatâs one way of putting it. We were lonely. I hid my feelings best I could under the veil of comfort in the moment. Not that needed to. He made it pretty clear that he wanted me in the same way I wanted him. I just the two of us were too scared to ask for promises we werenât sure we could keep so we loved in the moments we could, so to speak.
Weiss:If it wasnât under dire situations, all that sounds oddly romantic.
Ruby:Right!? Looking back at it makes the entire thing seem romantic but I definitely wouldnât wish a similar experience on anybody! I guess itâs what I wished for when I fantasized huntress life huh? Things obviously got better along the way. Our relationship got a bit more serious right before we got to Haven. Then Tyrian and other crazy stuff happened that threw all of us into panic mode again before slowly getting better again by a lot.
Yang:We showed up?
Ruby:Bingo! You and Weiss, met Oscar, and then eventually Blake came back. Things were on the up and up.
Weiss:Uh, Haven attack?
Ruby:We lived, up and up. Yeah you got stabbed but you know...thatâs not new Iâm sure.
Weiss:Yeah I have the scar and Iâm still little pissed.
Ruby:Valid. Anyways, so my Atlas experience was different as hell. There was no formation of Remnants armies like Weiss spoke of or even between two kingdoms like Blake. Yang, what happened yours again exactly?
Yang:Nonsense. Cinder showed up with lackeies but not Salemâs lackies. Those people showed up separately, then Adam came back from wherever the hell he- a lot! A lot of people showed up for different reasons but also the same reason and to be frank, we all almost got shot by the military for being in bases that quote unquote, âdidnât exist.â
Ruby:Man I wish we traded. That at least sounds crazy enough to be fun. Just a rollercoaster in the dark basically. My experience was probably as hectic, but also way more streamlined. We showed up, and then all hell broke loose. Specially a mass grimm invasion lead by Cinder and her annoying associates. We were there for about three weeks updating General Ironwood and getting our barrings together when it happened. I wanna call it a hit and run tactic but it was clearly planned in advanced. Mechs were hacked again, traitors in the military, grimm lying in wait before hand; it was chaos! All for the relic.
Blake:Who was the maiden?
Ruby:Never met her. By the time we got there, Ironwood was panicking because she had vanished, taken right from under his nose. It was some young girl apparently, really young. The attack on Beacon looked like childâs play to this. Mantle got attacked, grimm were on the chains, they tried dropping Atlas to the ground; all a diversion for a relic. We all shouldâve died, and yet, we didnât. Winter and Weiss weeded out traitors, huntsman and military held the line, Yang bested Hazel with Nora, Qrow and I cut down Tyrian! Ren, Blake and Jaune helped the kingdoms while Ironwood struck down Watts. Nobody was in the mood to die that day. There wasnât gonna be another Beacon. By all means, we were pissed. Even Raven showed up of all people.
Yang:What!?
Ruby:You canât attack a kingdom without the world knowing. Especially when traitors leak info. Honestly she came for you though, or she never left to begin with. Couldnât tell ya. Thanks to Maria I had a bit more handling with my eyes. That helped a lot. Without them and Os-
She stopped herself, choking on the words. The zest and excitement of recalling the heroic feats of her friends dimmed slightly with her smile. Her joyful smile became bittersweet like the memory.
Ruby:Then there was Oscar, the real warrior on that flamed filled night. That battle had to have been three days at least. We were so driven, and so tired. I was tired, but Cinder, Neo, and the others with her at the time werenât; always showing up at the worst time. I managed to push Cinder back in a fight but grimm and others still swarmed. We were at a point that grimm very well mightâve did us in and the villains didnât have to push any harder. But Oscar changed that. Hehe, whatâs it about country folk that makes people like him and I not hesitate to grit our teeth? That dork looked at me, gave me the biggest smile on the the steps to Atlas, and then he left. His hair went white as he twirled the cane and then he left, forever. Oz came out, and he left nothing to the imagination. âLimited magicâ my butt. He obliterated grimm and made a barrier aroma Atlas while everyone else cleared Mantle long enough for the world to send reinforcements. Salem didnât get the relic, but she got the maiden and thousands of casualties. Oscar being one of them. Also, Whitley....he was in critical condition for a very long time.
Weiss:What do you mean...critical condition?
Ruby:Everything happened so fast Weiss. Panic was high, buildings fell....a piece on him. I wasnât there but when I eventually found you, you were nearly hysterical and banged up. By some miracle he lived even though we could not reach him and he did not get aid for awhile. We thought him dead. It was only after everything we learned somebody got him. Being rich never paid off more than with medical bills. Thanks to youth and medicine he can still walk, but he can only do so much before being tired. He also left Atlas. The cold hurts.
Weiss:So, I run the company because he canât?
Ruby:I wouldnât put it that way, but it was one of dozens of reasons that made that goal stronger for you. Relax though, both of you get plenty of time to be witty siblings like I told you earlier.
Weiss:I know. Itâs just, I guess itâs hard imagining Whitley hurt like that. I donât think I could handle it.
Ruby:You definitely teetered in the moment. Knowing that happened though probably gave you anger and grit to fight the entire battle. You were a beast. Scarier than Winter. Anyways, that hollow victory was a real wake up call for the world. They didnât know about Salem and we never told society in earnest. Cinder and other conspirators were enough to make Remnant work together to boost defense. Relief went to places that needed it and I, became the face of hope. Haven, Argus, Atlas, even people from Vale got to chattering of a particular group of people who always seemed to answer the call for help. Then the towns in between chattered. Yours truly had been carving a name in the history books and was only gain popularity the moment I stepped into Vacou, alone.
Blake:Alone!?
Weiss:What!?
Yang:Where were we!!!!!?
Ruby looked at surprised faces around the table, smiling tenderly. She looked down her dress and pulled out the cross she wore around her neck. Her thumb traced its edges as her mind began wandering down an old path paved with emotions raw to the core.
Ruby:Iâve always felt different. Not just because of my eyes but that there was just...a certain spark that never stopped going off for as long as I remember. There are plenty of people who canât bare to watch others suffer, but there are fewer people I believe that truly feel the agony of other peopleâs pain. Beacon, Haven, Atlas, Argus; there was no place I went that I didnât see the faces of others lamenting, and I didnât make me want to grieve. Atlas took so much out of all of you and I just felt so....driven to stop that ache. For everyoneâs sake, but mine as well. I wanted the world to finally get to the happy ending. Enough trauma had be sowed for a hundred lifetimes, so I went on ahead of everyone. I never doubted you all would follow but I wanted to get ahead of the curve and take on as much of the suffering I could do others wouldnât. If the world wouldnât give me a miracle than Iâd be it myself for everyone else.
Yang:Thatâs suicidal! Salem wanted you specifically!
Ruby:Itâs not like I went marching up to her door and said â1v1 bitch, Iâm hereâ no, I just chose to move forward quicker than what we were all doing. Believe me, all of you were upset when you caught up, after I had already saved Vacou. *smiles* I really like that place. I told the people it was the next target and all they did was double down on pushing back. I managed to pin down the Summer maiden before the villains and thanks with the city on alert, there wasnât a shift in the sand that didnât go unnoticed. I got the jump on Mercury and Emerald, personally paying them back. Canât say I didnât enjoy it. It didnât take long before they realized how screwed they were with them being outed like this and Cinder having the nerve to retreat before hand. Both of them threw in the total, outing the plan against Vacou. A wipeout of a win. Not to mention they told me the location Salemâs little hiding hole.
Weiss:We missed all of that?
Ruby:Thatâs what happens when I leave in the dead of night and running on adrenaline. Like I said before, people were tired. As much as all of you wanted to hoof it, otherâs were relying on you. Atlas almost dropped for gods sake. Eventually when you all caught up it was at a good time. Soloing was rewarding but difficult. Fortunately Sun, Neptune, Ilia, and a few other familiar faces were close by if I needed an extra set of hands. My little stunt earned the anger of everyone for awhile.
WBY:Yeah no shit...the leader left.
Ruby:Yang was the most upset, followed by Uncle Qrow, and you Weiss. I was ready for the blowback. Jaune and Nora saw me though and bursted into tears. Hehe, wasnât ready for that. Felt terrible and cried back. To prevent that stunt again, my Yang convinced Raven to link me. A couple days of apologizing and rest smoothed things over. It also gave time for just a few close friends and colleagues to get together for an assault on Salemâs castle. A few were apprehensive about it at first but at the end of the day I was going. That attitude was infectious apparently. You guys, actually everybody, they started getting this hunger to end it all. Maybe it was the high of victory? Regardless, it sent me racing to the end with those that I loved most.
Yang:Youâre a real âmy way or the highwayâ kind of Ruby. I donât get how that explains what made you so...elite.
Ruby:Iâm not sure what to say. A fight needed to to fought so I fought it. A cry for help was heard so I ran to it. A grimm needed slaying so I slayed it. People needed me to win so I didnât dare think of losing. Dying was never option, even when it stared me right into my eyes. I had things I wanted to do and people I wanted see for years to come. I guess...I am strong because of the fact I want things my way. A moment Iâm not giving it 110% is a moment wasted. After all, a huntress is all I ever wanted to be.
A single dream she wanted since birth. The never ending desire to be the hero in stories told to her many nights ago. Thatâs all it ever was. Thatâs all itâs ever been. Even in meadow of beautiful red roses, one would be the rose that captured the eyes of many, that bloomed stronger than the rest. As simple as it was, that had to be the answer here. Weiss, Yang, and Blake were in front of that flower. The Ruby Rose that simply bloomed stronger than the rest. The one that clung to her dream as if letting go meant dying itself. The devotion was inspiring, yet also overwhelming. If this was Ruby they had lead them that day in the Emerald Forest, could they have kept up? Could she be the leader they followed? No, they couldnât have. Something deep down inside them gave them that answer. No matter how she looked and how much she loved, this Ruby Rose was cut from a cloth they simply werenât off. The same as others, but oh so different.
Weiss:Youâre....kinda a monster, you know that right?
Yang:Seriously, Iâm so...floored. Itâs intimidating.
Blake:Not to mention humbling. I used to think I gave it all I had. Now Iâm not so sure.
Ruby:Oh donât be like that you three! Youâre all living proof there was more than way to go about life, this war! Everything you gave was enough because youâre done with it! Nobody failed. Besides, I...am far from ideal. The assault was challenging. Getting around hoards of grimm and making it to Salem was hell made real. Neo tried taking another shot at me but Yang held her off with help. Everyone pushed the obstacles in front of me out of the way as I went to Salem herself. Cinder had been abandoned by her and stripped of a lot of her powers. Angry and desperate, she tried killing me again as a way to prove worth. I beat her. However, I let her walk away.
Yang:What!? Why would-
Ruby:Naive, I was...naive okay? She was all spent and though I hated her, I just couldnât. Not when I looked into her eyes and saw that same hunger I had to claw and scream at my dream until it was in my hands die inside her. We both knew from this point on there was absolutely nothing she could do where this ends her way. All she worked for turned burned to ash. So I gave her the choice to not burn up with it. Cinder swallow her pride and then fled. A part of me couldnât help but rationalize killing her didnât solve or justify any of my beliefs or desires. It wouldâve done it because I hated her like she hated me. That was the dumb logic of a seventeen year old who never quite learned to take things slow.
Blake:....I donât think itâs dumb. Naive for sure, but maybe thatâs good? Even my Ruby, she never wanted to act on hate. She didnât. Salem lives.
Weiss:Mine sent her soul to be at piece instead of passing a cruel judgment.
Yang:As a person whoâs seen what you looked like with nothing but vengeance inside, I can say it doesnât fit you. Before that day you had a warmth inside you to even foes that were somewhat admirable. You chose to leave Cinderâs fate up to those who had that hate and Salem was undone by her own doing at the very end. Thatâs what really makes you special Ruby. Thatâs why youâre called an honest soul. Good will is your nature.
Ruby:....Hmm, you sure know how to butter me up. *scratches head* I guess that part of me is uni-I mean multiversal. Strangely, that makes me feel better, to a degree.
Weiss:Do we even have to ask what happened to Salem at this point? I doubt the story ends with you loosing and having to retreat.
Ruby:Whoâs to say it doesnât? I couldâve been beaten to death before the gods themselves descended down to revive me with awesome power.
Yang:....Did you?
Ruby:Wh-No! Haha, I made her an immortal statue.
Blake:I-It was that easy?
Ruby:Well I wouldnât call rushing into hellâs castle easy, or Salem. I lit her up at least a dozen times. My head pounded from each use, I was tossed around a bunch, magic is annoying, and not to mention running out of ammo. I left nothing to the imagination in that fight. If it were easy then I wouldnât be rooting my horn and my age doing it. I was so tired I blacked out afterwards. I woke days later with a sore body and the title of âRemnantâs Savior.â Apparently beating Salem had weakened the grimm everywhere and all of you made sure who was to be thanked for it. Thatâs the tale of how I saved the world with my friends. Love, trust, elbow grease, and a lot of bullets. Before the final battle, Ozpin had struck a deal with everyone involved. In return for saving the world, heâd cut ties with us.
Yang:Seriously? What brought that about!?
Ruby:Good or not, he lied and was a schemer. Sure I was gonna try to save the world regardless of his interference but there wasnât a person alive that didnât to finally take a step towards the future after all this. All of us finally had time chase dreams and help the world the way we wanted to before all of this. Blake begin mending hate, Weiss took back her company, if Yang wasnât with Blake then she was seeking more answers to Raven on wild adventures.
Yang:You mean Raven still left after all that!?
Ruby:In her defense, both of you made everything fucking awkward when she was around. Itâs like you both wanted to talk about something but knew any subject was a land mine so you all you ever did was...stare, like weirdos. Glad thatâs in the past. She just lives with dad now and you two now to hold a conversation. I dare not ask for more. Iâd be a granny by the time I did.
Yang:Sigh...I donât know what I expected. Shit it the fan several times and children were born before mom and I found solidarity and understanding. What did you do afterwards? Your goal was already met.
Ruby:Like hell it was! I started busting my butt traveling around the world, visiting every place to help in anyways I could. Ren and Nora tagged along for awhile before going off to make an orphanage in Anima near Renâs old village. That left Jaune and I to do our hero thing.
Yang:As well as other things....
Ruby:Hey, what can I say? We were young and going up in the world. By the time I was nineteen, I was now a married to my partner and best friend.
Weiss:Uhhhh-
Ruby:Heâs my partner on RNJR and youâre my BFF, gosh did I really need to explain that hehe?
Weiss:I just had to make sure. Crazier twists could happen.
Blake:Wow you married young. Not that thereâs a problem but Iâm surprised. Then again you also dated earlier than my Ruby. Hehe, weapons were on her brain for a long time.
Weiss:No kidding. When I learned about you crushing on my brother I was shocked to find out you liked anybody in general. Especially a person who isnât a weapon nut in the slightest.
Ruby:*shrugs* All youâre telling me is Iâm clearly the most impatient or impulsive Ruby you all know. Donât know how that happened. Maybe I was dropped as a baby or had one too many coffees growing up?
Weiss:Iâm willing to bet itâs both.
Ruby:Ruuuuude. So yeah, thatâs...the story of how I saved the world and married Jaune. We even built a home just outside Vacou, overlooking the kingdom and neighboring town in the distance where Maria grew up. Yeah, thatâs me....more or less. All the triumphant parts anyways. Anything later on is......
.......
Blake:R...Ruby? You okay?
Ruby:Nope, not really. *clenches cross*
Yang:......You know, I never really got religion, especially after learning the truth. It just seemed completely hollow when you learn of the real gods, ya know? However, I changed my tune a bit after being a parent and then some more when uncle Qrow died. It was never really about the truth behind if those other gods were real-
Ruby:Itâs the piece of mind in believing in a better place for loved ones and having people watch over you. Itâs truly based on blind faith in every sense but thatâs okay as long as it gives peace of mind, to stay strong. Yeah....thatâs why I wear this.
Yang:If thatâs the âwhyâ then I guess the unavoidable question is what happened?
The reaper leaned back in his chair, letting out a long sigh. Ruby brushed her hair out of her face while her face went pale. Then, Rubyâs eyes, her teammates watched a pair of stunning silver eyes dim, becoming akin to a clouded mirror.
Ruby:Being a huntress was all I wanted. The plan of having a family and settling down never appealed to me much. I feel, I felt like being in the field was where I was meant to be. Itâs where I was most myself in a way. So the day I learned that I was pregnant was more than a little upsetting and terrifying, until dad and time itself filled me with the most genuine joy I may have ever experienced. Dustin Arc Rose, my first born son. He opened a door to a world and life I never knew I wanted to be apart of. Then...that door was shut minutes after, when Cinder and Neo stole him right from my arms. I couldnât do a single thing about it other than blackout. That single act of good will I showed, it did nothing but kill me inside. The same way I did to her.
WB:.....
Yang:Ru-Ruby....your eyes.
Ruby:Hmm? Are they clouded? Funny, I wouldâve thought your Ruby wouldâve had a similar change. Maybe thatâs a world exclusive thing, or a testament to the will you Ruby has to endure. Clouded eyes on a silver eyed warrior means the person has lost the desire or rather the mindset of persevering life. Be it their own life or wanting to end anotherâs life out of resentment, strife. My entire world fell apart when I woke up and learned nobody was able to retrieve Dustin. I was in pieces, Jaune was broken, nobody was the same. There wasnât a soul we didnât know that hadnât tried to find a lead, but we never did. He was just...gone; and I couldnât cope at all.
Weiss:I donât think any mother could. Ruby, Iâm so sorry that happened to you.
Ruby:Iâm sorry too. I lashed out in anger, and shut people out. My eyes clouded and I dove into my work for a little over a year doing nothing but searching aimlessly as I took and every job back to back. The more time went by meant the more people eventually had to go back to their own, and it drove me up a wall inside. No one could reach me. I didnât want anybody to. Not even Jaune. I....*teary eyed* I left him alone in house. There was no part of me that could even attempt to understand his pain because I was drowning in mine. I was told he tried his best to catch them at the hospital. I never hated him for not succeeding but I...he... I just, I canât. I donât know what I thought. All o knew was I didnât even want him to touch me. How cruel is that? *hugging herself* I made him drown in despair in the same way I was. I wasnât home so often that I never realized he eventually left it abandoned to live with dad. Yang and Blake I didnât even show up to your wedding. Jaune did that much. Hell, Raven attended. Ruby Rose as a person didnât exist any more. I was only a wandering huntress looking for answers or the challenge that mightâve ended me.
Blake:What changed?
Ruby:Oz, he did what nobody else dared to do. He fought me. I donât think he thought twice about it. He was prepared to accept all the anger I kept inside until I eventually broke down into tears like Iâm trying not to do right now. Thinking about that time is still, extremely difficult. Oz let me lament, encouraging me afterwards to finally except the fact Dustin was gone and that I needed to process it properly. First I went to you Yang, in order to have a my big sis to lean on. Can you guess how that went?
Yang:With me holding you tighter than I ever had before.
Ruby:*smiles gently* I donât deserve you. You and Blake then came to patch with me where everyone else waited for me and helped me face Jaune. That may have been the hardest thing Iâve done. Grieving or not, the fact that I left him in such a state. I know what that does to people firsthand and yet I left. For the first time in over a year we embraced and finally grieved together. The next two years were spent trying to heal and cope. During my time away the world had fully acknowledged me. I even got a proper nickname, but it all felt hollow. Imagine that, achieving your dream but not caring? If thatâs not salt in a wound then I donât know what is.
Weiss:Whatâs your title?
Ruby:I am the person people want to see when evil comes to cut their story short. I am a symbol that their tale still has more to tell. Remnant has named me The Storyteller. Curtsey of Maria, who spread the name around. Healing was slow and most nights I felt a pain in my heart, but then everything changed. One moment made me dare to try again to open that shut door in my life. *looks at Yang* I held your son in my arms. Sweet little Kovu.
Blake:*smiles* Kovu? Now I wonder who named him?
Yang:*red* Huh...how about that? Hehehe, wish I could meet him. I know he isnât technically mine but I canât help but feel all warm now. Also I canât believe I named him that!
Weiss:I can. Veronicaâs middle name is Nala.
Yang:Okay, maybe not marrying Blake was a win? Clearly I canât be trusted to not name my children after other cats.
Blake:The wrong kind of cat too. Iâm a panther faunus, not a lion. Even if theyâre blonde thatâs still false advertising of what they are.
Ruby:Well Yang was the one giving birth so you lost a majority of the option to complain.
Blake:That is fair.
Weiss:You gave birth to Vee, so I think that solves who picked her first name.
Ruby rested her head in her propped up hands that rested on the table. She felt exhausted reliving that chapter of her life mentally. Still she managed to smile, then smile bigger. Her eyes unclouded and a warm feeling filling her again. What Ruby said earlier about what made her different may have reign true, but her friends could since that there was now more to it. Ruby had spiraled into an unimaginable tragedy, yet was able to bounce back thanks to loved ones. To smile as she does, it was truly a strong sight to see. Even if she wasnât fully aware of that.
Ruby:Carmine Arc Rose, my second born and the first child to call me mommy. Followed many years later by itty bitty Garnet. Heâs my little man, five years old while is big sis is seventeen now.
Yang:Damn! Thatâs a gap. Oh, also congratulations. Almost forgot that part. Iâm glad you got to be the super awesome mom that-
Ruby:I am easily C-teir.
Yang:Oh come on! What!?
Ruby:Listen, I know I got on you all for calling yourselves bad parents, but I will hear no debate about me understand!? I flop a lot of times.
Weiss:That doesnât make you a C-teir. That makes you a new mom, silly.
Ruby:*grumbling* I agree to disagree but thank you. Itâs just a lot okay. Too much to dive into honestly.
Blake:Summarize. Give us an abbreviated version.
Ruby:Ummm so Carmine is real special kid. The absolute love I have for her is unbreakable but gods damnit if she isnât the most... âmeâ I could be! In a way similar yet different from myself, Carmine has always had this sense of urgency in her and a love for the world around her. She recognizes that itâs a fragile piece we have and just how hard Iâve worked with everyone to make it. I could tell that from her when she was five. Iâd sound crazy, but the fact she used her eyes at the age proves Iâm not.
Yang:She has silver eyes!? Why didnât you bring that up?
Ruby:I thought that was obvious. All of my kids were born with then. Unlike her baby brother though, Carmine was a weird little kid. She didnât socialize well. Still doesnât, sheâs kinda comes off rude and cold because of her bluntness. She doesnât really express all her feelings or understand others fully. One might call her a little cold but the passion she had to protect life itself is a testament to how much she cares. Carmine is also a genius fighter. To put in perspective, people use the same nickname for her that they used for Pyrrha.
WBY:Oh....
Ruby:Yeah! Its not hyperbolic to say ever since Carmine is far beyond any skill I was at her age since she turned thirteen. You called me a monster earlier but no, I merely gave birth to a beast. I mean she could pass the huntsman exam at fifteen if I didnât make her wait. I canât call her arrogant, she talks with confidence because she has that right by all means. Still, besides her face, thatâs where the similarities start separating; besides terrible grades in general stuff. Weâve never been in step completely. To put simply in her own words, âWhat I am is a hero, while she is a huntress.â That good will and mercy I try to give everyone isnât how she rolls. It drives a real wedge that has resulted in us not going on missions together.
Blake:Is she...killing?
Ruby:She has before, and it had valid reasons entirely, but I also know for a fact she is more than capable of bringing down people without taking that step. Not all cases are that intense thank goodness. Her overall aggressiveness is the root of the problem. You donât have to put you back into it when handling thugs. They arenât Hazel.
Yang:Ooo okay, yeah Iâm seeing what you mean now. Itâs like that one comic you always read!
Ruby:Sigh...yeah she channels a bit of Batman energy and I need her to not do that all the time. I suppose being an honest soul isnât particularly hereditary. It always feels like we arenât enjoying each otherâs company these days. I canât blame her though. So....you know how all of you have had one serious problem that has both destabilized yourself as well as the kids and their relationship to you? *clouded eyes*
Weiss:Wait...you loosing a child wasnât that?
Ruby:Oh it was. It just so happened that it never ended. It grew day by day. Night by night. Jaune and I were cautious with Carmine. Going as far to give her contacts and giving birth to her off the record and not at a hospital. Just in case Cinder came back. Well, Cinder and Neo came back, with my Dustin.
Nobody said anything. What do you even say to that!? All they did was let out a stifled breath and tried to gauge Rubyâs look of guilt.
Ruby:Yet again we had gotten too comfortable. It happened when Carmine was thirteen. I donât think Garnet was even one yet. Thatâs when the cruelest realization hit me. My son had been alive and hearing about how his so called mother being a person who saves everyone, yet she never came for him. She had moved on, letting his eyes become clouded with such seething hate for the world she did save; the children she had after. Itâs been four years since the day he attacked Carmine and helped grimm try to invade Vacou. To this day itâs been a life of staying on gaurd, searching for them as they popped up countless places to tear Remna- to tear me down and I canât decide what part hurts the most. The amount of anger that prevents me from killing Cinder in a blink of an eye, or looking at my daughter who has told me herself that she is going to kill her older brother because Iâm too weak to do so. That Iâm in no way as good as the world believes me to be. *puts hood up* Like I said, C-teir mom, at best.
Blake:Thatâs- you canât- thereâs no way for you to reach him? Maybe if you-
Ruby:He looks at me the same way Neo and Cinder do, Blake. They raised him to hate me. Besides, he hurt Carmine. Sheâs just not gonna let that slide and frankly I shouldnât either. Carmine acts tough and for the most part is, but gets terrified like everyone else. In many ways sheâs still just a young girl that I wish had never chosen to become a huntress. If I had it my way sheâd just be a normal girl with normal knees; but her motherâs weakness and inexperience wrapped her up in yet another war. Itâs ironic. I barely remember mom and yet I ended up putting my family in very similar situation as if she lead instruction. Happy endings, Iâm not sure if I get-
Yang:Youâre better than mom....
Ruby:......
Yang:Yeah I said. Look I love Summer Rose but at the end of the day she wasnât around, not that she didnât want to be, but itâs the truth. Several years of pleasant childhood memories and a lifetime of grief is what she left me, and all you got were tales you shouldâve experienced first hand. Ruby you have spent seventeen years loving your daughter unconditionally and being there for her no matter if itâs for better or worse. Yeah you might not being doing it perfectly and I have no idea how to even fathom your predicament, but at least you are there trying. Take it from me, thatâs all a daughter ever wants from their mother. Itâs also what makes a pretty kick ass dad. *smiles* Chin up, hero. Your story isnât over yet after all.
Silence filled the air and Rubyâs throat ran dry. Ruby pulled out her scroll to go to her pictures and displayed one of her favorite photos for everyone to see. It was Carmineâs fifteenth birthday. Ruby didnât lie about the resemblance. the girl had short blonde hair that stopped halfway down her neck in the back and was longer in the front, reaching shoulders. Like her mother, the tips of her hair transitioned to red. The beautiful young woman tried to her hide her smile but her gleeful silver eyes were practically twinkling with joy as Ruby hugged her tightly from behind and a tall, more solid version of Jaune was smushing one of Carmineâs cheeks with an overly dramatic kiss to it. A tiny child no older than three at most was in his big sisterâs arms. Garnet had his motherâs hair and eyes but something about the chubby face definitely showed Jauneâs features. The child had red frosting on his face and was reaching eagerly for more cake somewhere out of frame.
Yang noticed the girl took page from her father and wore some regular cargo shorts, but clearly didnât lack flair by wearing a red crop top that showed off a fresh tattoo of the Arc crest on her toroso. Knowing her sister, that tattoo was most likely practical. The family looked happy, proud; and the mother of it currently sat across the table crying with her head face down in her hands cwhile Weiss and Blake hugged her from each side. Roses may have thorns, anyone who knew roses knew a simple truth. Theyâre still fragile flowers.
Yang:(Carmine Arc Rose. For you and your motherâs sake, I hope things go well)
xxxx
Though Carmine seemed cold by nature, people were quick learn the opposite. The most recent learner of this was a scared little girl that held on for dear life. It was nighttime, nothing but the sound of pouring rain and the distant glow of red and the warmth of Carmine holding the girl against her body while she sprinted through a mud ridden forest. The little payed no attention to the pain in her side, but the glow of roses, eyes, and flames through her tear filled eyes.
Beowulves chased frantically but then severed immediately by something the girl couldnât understand, but it looked like the person carrying her. The dead beasts brought no comfort. Not when more followed close behind.
Girl:I-Iâm sc...scared!
Carmine:Donât look at them sweetie, itâll be fine. Just keep being a brave little girl.
Girl:M...Mommy was back there.
Carmine:.....I know, sheâll be just fine. Your village, there are plenty of people there that will be just fine! Huff..... You got a name?
Mary:Mary.....
Carmine:Oh thatâs a beautiful name, Mary. You know I was almost a Mary? Yeah my grandma was a really amazing person and I almost got named something similar to her. Mary is a very strong name!
Mary:Youâre a liar! Iâm sad, not strong. I want my mommy! Everything his dark and hurts and I want her!
The girl began painfully crying as Carmine followed her trail of roses to avoid getting lost. Things were getting worse. The storm raged and she could feel this girl burning in her arms. Not to mention the unsettling warmth the mixed with the cold rain against her body and dripped to puddles below. Any grimm near by could only be dealt with by many copies of her nearby, but that would only go so far when fear was out full force. Carmineâs boots felt like cement, but she still ran.
Carmine:Mary, you know what do when I miss my mommy? I sing! Yeah, my mom sings the best lullabies that made me feel super strong when I was little! Itâs a magic song that makes everyone strong. How about I sing it you and they can sing it your mommy later okay!? But you have to close your eyes to really focus on the words!
Mary:*sniffling* Okay....
Baby deathstalkers swarmed the path made ahead as small Nevermores dove at her. Out of options, Carmine broke from the path, trying to rely on memory to go towards the safe zone while also singing lyrics to her favorite song.
Dream of anything; I'll make it all come true.
Everything you need is all I'll have for you~
Carmine never wavered. No matter how badly her lungs her or nearly slipped, she kept singing all the way to her destination where several other clones were seen racing towards with more civilians to injured or young to go themselves. An orphanage where Nora and Ren stood outside rushing people in while Jaune was keeping the grimm at bay. The sight brought a little ease.
Don't worry, I've got you; nothing will ever harm you.
I'm close by, I'll stay here; through all things, I will be near~
Carmine finally reached Nora and passed off the girl whoâs grip weakened overtime. A few lyrics in and Carmine knew she was singing mainly for herself.
Carmine:Get her medical attention! Iâm gonna go and find more! Thereâs still-
Jaune:Wait, itâs too dangerous!
Carmine:I know! Thatâs why I have to go! That fire is spreading and thereâs stragglers pinned down! Dad.....Iâm pinned down!
Jaune tensed up and looked at Carmine. No scraps on her and her clothes only soiled by others. It didnât take long to realize. The man resisted the urge to run out to the ruined town and stood firmly.
Jaune:Carmine...end it. Weâll worry about the consequences later.
Carmine:....Okay.
Across the woods amongst the flames the real Carmine stood bleeding and bruised in front of two Beringel that charged over the vanishing corpses of their fallen with more grimm, her sword stabbed into the ground supporting her weight. Behind all living people that remained finally managed to flee. All except for a woman trapped by house debris. The woman watched this young huntsman stand proudly again. She wasnât sure what happened next. All she heard was one sentence.
âClose your eyes...â before everything went white. Next thing she knew, Carmine was lifting debris off her as rain and wind washed away any evidence. A relief she didnât care about in the slightest. She neither had the strength, or the time too. Much like Carmine, who began to pant and teeter. It was clear to the woman that whatever just happened didnât come without cost as she watched the girl fall to her knees. Though she tried moving, Carmine was spent.
Carmine:Donât worry...weâre safe....letâs-
Woman:Go...
Carmine:Huh?
Woman:I...my legs. Everything...I canât move. Just go. I d-donât think Iâd las-
Carmine:Donât talk like that! The hard parts over! I can-
Woman:Barely walk. *smiles* Itâs okay. I donât blame you. You fought hard.
Carmine:.....I...Iâm sorry. *teary eyed*
Woman:Say, I know that face anywhere. Your Lady Roseâs kid. Funny, I thought your eyes were red? My daughter, Mary, she loves your mother. Makes me kinda jealous hehe, but hey I love her too. *crying* Do you know if Mary made it? She was wearing-
Carmine:A black dress, pink ribbons in her hair...
Woman:Yes! Is she safe? I saw you- one of you carry her off.
Carmine:...Sheâs just fine.
Woman:Good. Thatâs all....that.....
The woman never finished her sentence. Carmineâs body fell limp on the ground, facing the rain. Even with the cold downpour she could feel the warmth of her own tears, containing her emotions best she could as she looked through her clones eyes to watch Nora take Mary away from the survivors and out of sight to not stir further panic.
Carmine wasnât sure how long she layed there, but it was long enough for Jaune to find her. The man didnât say a word. The town was in shambles. Grimm were still fading and his daughter looked tired, but not in serious condition. Unlike the those who didnât make it. Jaune put Carmine in his arms, carrying her away to safety.
Carmine:......Does mom ever save them all?
Jaune:No, but that never stops her from trying; or mourning.
She clenched her fatherâs shirt and let herself be fragile, to be a Rose.
Carmine:Next time. Mom and I, weâll both get it right next time. A happy ending for all!
Jaune:Yeah, I know you will. Together....

Iâm gonna talk a little bit about Ozpin and Ruby
Spoilers for Volume 7
Ozpin spent many lives deciding to shield parts of the truth from everyone because he knew the world couldnât handle the truth.
He knew that if he told everyone the truth than either they would give up in the fight (Raven) or would join the enemy (Leo)
Itâs mentioned that heâs been betrayed many times, even to the point where he didnât even seem surprised by Leoâs betrayal, and so he chooses to protect parts of the truth.
As well as this Ozpin was under no obligation to reveal his very traumatic past to a bunch of emotional teenagers! Most of his secrets revealed by Jinn were irrelevant and only showed the connection between Salem and Ozma.
Ozpin lied, and that is not okay, he omitted some very important truths and lead a bunch of kids down a path that was certainly going to get them killed, he created schools full of kids who would protect the schools but knowing that most of them would not survive a fight against Salemâs team, but despite this, he had his reasons for keeping his secrets, he did the best he could and he had the best intentions.

This is what makes him a morally grey character. His intentions were good but his actions lead to a lot of bad as well.
What Qrow said to Ruby in Volume 7, that her lying to Ironwood was different than Ozpin lying, was true! Anyone who says sheâs no better than Ozpin has not been paying attention to the basic message of the last two Volumes.
Qrow has been helping Ozpin loyally for the last decade at least, weâll assume the last 15 years, and had proven his trustworthiness in multiple occasions, so he could have been trusted with the truth.
Team RNJR risked their life to get to Mistral to help because they lost someone close to them and they wanted to defeat the person that killed her, which means for the most part their motivation wouldnât have swayed meaning that they could have been trusted with the truth.
Yang, Blake, and Weiss had no right being upset with Oz for not disclosing the whole truth in all honesty, they hadnât been there for long, they didnât risk as much to get there, their motivations werenât as stable, Yangâs mum literally deserted Ozpin after finding out the truth, itâs understandable Ozpin would be wary about telling them the truth.
But my point is, for the most part, team RNJR + Qrow were all able to be trusted and should have been.
Now we get to Atlas, and since Volume 4 theyâre been building Ironwood up to be getting more and more paranoid and rash, when we get into Atlas in Volume 7 we see that heâs done so much to hurt the people of Mantle (and I suppose to an extent Atlas) that a lot of people hate him. Even RWBY+JNR+Q all mention as soon as they see that he doesnât look well:
Yang: âGeneral Ironwood, he looks...â
Ruby: âtired.â
Qrow: âJames, what have you been doing?â
The entire situation in Atlas seems strange to the characters, and this is what makes them cautious, making them go into Mantle in the first place.
Weiss: âIâve never seen our forces deployed so aggressively beforeâ
Weiss: âthis isnât right. None of this is right.â
And later cemented by Pietro who says point blank:
Pietro: âThe fall of Beacon took a toll on all of us, James was no different. I donât know exactly what he saw there, but it changed him, heâs...â
Qrow: âHeâs scared.â
Pietro: âParanoid would be the more appropriate term.â
Ironwood is acting on his fears, and due to the fact heâs got not only Atlas Academy but the entire Atlas Military under his control, as well as being completely backed by the council (helped only by the fact he already holds two seats on the council) he is the most powerful right now, and for someone who was called, by his friend, paranoid, this doesnât make for much confidence when telling him important information that could only fuel his fears even further.
Not to mention that Ruby was very quick to tell JNR about the truth, despite seeing how her own team reacted to the news, because it was important they knew.
Ozpin lying was backed by experience and paranoia, but Ruby lying is backed by an accurate assessment of the situation.
Theyâre doing the same basic action of lying, but their reasonings are slightly different. We donât have enough information to say that Ruby is no better than Oz, because the issue is, sheâs only lied to one person thatâs meant to be on her side because sheâs already seen one of the Headmasters betray Oz, and can see that James isnât the most emotionally stable at the moment.
We can only say whether Ruby is better than Oz if we see her lying to everyone thatâs helping her even after they proved their loyalty.
My point of this is, Ozpin is not a bad guy, heâs just been through a lot and is too fearful to trust anyone anymore, his actions were wrong but his intent was still good, therefore heâs morally grey.
Ruby is better than Ozpin as far as we can tell, and Qrows justification of her actions is correct.
The people who are defending Ozpin to the ends of the earth need to realise that though he had his reasons for keeping his secrets, it meant he put a bunch of young lives at risk for a war he knows he canât win, at least not yet.
But those who are attacking Ruby need to see that she was completely justified in her actions despite us knowing that itâs not okay to lie about such important stuff because at the moment they donât know if they can trust Ironwood.
The situation isnât black and white, its not âlying is bad always tell the truthâ more âsituational lying can be justified however should not go as far as to put others lives at riskâ itâs a learn who to trust situation because no one should just trust everyone they meet.
To summarise my points:
Ozpin: Means the best but is too paranoid to tell people, even if theyâre trustworthy, the whole truth about the situation at hand. Should be forgiven but should not be heavily defended in that specific action.
Ruby: Trusts others with the truth but also has an obligation to assess the situation to make sure that those people sheâs trusting actually deserve it and there isnât much of a risk involved in disclosing the whole truth.

* â QUESTIONNAIRE !
01. where was your character born? what brought them to boston? what do they like most about the town?
kelsey was born in boston.  sheâs stuck around because of circumstance,  she couldnât afford to go off far after she graduated,  and her family needed her to stick around a little,  but she doesnât know if she would have left,  even if she could.  she doesnât think about it much anyway,  because she knows boston is where sheâs meant to be:  if she hadnât been here,  she wouldnât have met anthony,  she wouldnât have had indigo,  and it just feels like itâs where she really truly belongs at this point in time,  at least.
02. who are your characterâs friends and family? who do they surround themselves with? who are the people your character is closest to?
in the past year,  kelseyâs really been Figuring this out.  her relationship with a lot of her friends and family changed after she got pregnant.  sheâs never been exceptionally close with her father,  and heâs tried his best to be cool about all this,  but it took a toll on her relationship with her mother. they were always close,  but her mom is just Simply not jiving with the decisions kelseyâs been making.  her brothers have passed less judgement,  and of her actual family,  sheâd say sheâs closest to them ( even her mom has Limited her access to cameron lately ).  but anyways all that is part of the reason sheâs so apt to call her palls from the superstore her family.  she really does consider them her closest friends,  as theyâre people who didnât start treating her different.  she feels like nobody skipped a beat.  outside of that,  thereâs anthony,  of course,  and by extension of him,  the college Gang.  she doesnât feel as Welcome among their ranks:  she knows she isnât as fancy or smart as most of them and just tries to keep to herself when theyâre all out.
03. what is your characterâs biggest fear? who have they told this to? who would they never tell this to? why?
kelseyâs current biggest fear is that her mother is right,  and she is messing up her life or anthonyâs with having this baby,  or that she just generally wonât be a good mom.  most of her is confident sheâs doing the right thing:  sheâs excited to be a mom,  she loves anthony,  she feels like theyâre gonna get through this.  but she knows it wonât be a walk in the park,  and sheâs not stupid enough to not realize that people donât see her as the Most Competent.  sheâs ready to give it her all,  and work to make it all fall into place,  but sheâs worried she wonât be enough,  and sheâll screw up indigo,  and ruin things for anthony,  and mess up her life.  sheâs probably pretty open about this, in the kind of way where sheâs looking for validation.  its a conversation sheâs had with anthony more than once.  sheâs never tell her mother this,  sheâs not about to give her the satisfaction.
04. has your character ever been in love? had a broken heart?
kelsey had two ââseriousâ partners before anthony:  a high school sweetheart ( a football player who proposed to her before they graduated,  prompting her to call it off ) and a Grown Up relationship ( a girlfriend she had fresh out of high school,  she dumped kelsey before she studied abroad,  didnât want to be held back ).  she thought she loved both of them and felt pretty heartbroken after they were out of her life.  being In Love with anthony has definitely made her reconsider how intense she thought those relationships were,  but ultimately,  she doesnât discredit them because they were so important to her at the time,  sheâs taken the thank u next approach.
06. itâs saturday at noon. what is your character doing? give details.
if sheâs not working,  sheâs probably either goofing off on youtube enjoying a grilled cheese or,  in recent weeks,  sheâs taken to scouring mommy forums online that,  quite frankly,  scare the shit out of her.  sheâs been trying to do things like take midday naps and go see rated r movies while she still can,  so maybe sheâs out there just fucking around and enjoying her freedom.
07. what is one strong memory that has stuck with your character since childhood?
kelsey did ballet for most of her life,  from age 5 through all the way through high school.  she remembers sitting in her motherâs bathroom before one of her first recitals,  getting all dolled up in the mandatory makeup:  mascara,  lipstick,  all that jazz.  she remembers how grown it made her feel,  even if her eyes watered and ruined the mascara twice,  and it frankly stands out to her more than the recital itself.
09. what is something that upsets your character? where do they go when theyâre upset?
kelsey is a Bit Tender and a lot of things make her upset,  at least on a surface level.  but it takes more to actually get under her skin and make her Truly Upset.  its mostly people related,  rude little comments with bite,  feeling like people donât like her or judge her/someone she loves.  sheâs protective of her brood.  when sheâs upset,  she likes to curl up in bed with junk food and watch a little mindless tv.  maybe it doesnt fix things,  but its a distraction.
10. when your character thinks of their childhood kitchen, what smell do they associate with it? why?
her dad is one of Those Guys that has a special chili recipe heâs Very much a diva about.  he made it at least weekly,  and the smell of it all sitting out to simmer for hours stands out to her.  she liked to help him with it,  it was one of the few things they could bond over.

Seriously?!?! || Oz & Valeria
Parties: Oz Montague and Valeria Montague
Date: Monday, July 28th
Location: Ozâs office in the Tower
Summary: Valeria hears that Ginny was allowed to enter a claim and takes Oz to task for his unfairness and Ozâs starts yet another shit weekÂ
Triggers/Other Notes: None
Mentions: Emmet Capulet @emmetcapuletdom, Ginevra Montague @ginnymontague, Will Capulet @willxcapulet
@valeria-montague
Val could not believe what she had just heard, and she was livid. How dare her uncle grant Ginny permission to get claimed by Will Capulet, while she was practically begging him to trust her, and allow the same thing with Emmet, and all he could grant her was a lift on her travel ban. She saw red, and she was not going to allow him to get away with it. She walked past his receptionist, straight into his office, and slammed her purse on his desk, "How dare you! Are you fucking kidding me right now? Ginny! You give permission to Ginny before me!" She never took her eye off of him, she had backed down too long, but not today.
Oz picked up his coffee cup and was about to take a sip when the door to his office flung open. "Of for fuck's sake Valeria." He growled unhappily. He was exhausted and temperamental. He had not wanted to permit the claim but after being so undermined by Dante, he had been between a rock and a hard place. "Dante did." he stated flatly, "Whereas your parents have left the decision to me."
Val was not buying that, "Bullshit! You know you could have still said no if you wanted too, but you didn't, and now she is happily going to get claimed to Will Capulet. The same Will Capulet that said could not provide for her like she deserves. But me, I can't get claimed by Emmet Capulet, who has more money to take care of me, although I can take care of myself, but you know he can securely take care of me, and you still say no. Do you not want to see me happy? Is that it?"
Oz stared at the girl, feeling his own rage bubble below the surface. With great effort his maintained his calm. "You know that finances was never the reason I objected to that actor. Stop playing coy. He encouraged and facilitated your defiance and public embarrassment of me and this family. He is weak and since you clearly have no fucking control, you need strength. If you honestly believe coming in here and making a scene is persuasive in your favour then you have taken leave of every last one of your senses Valeria. Now sit down and stop being such a goddamned child."
Val wanted to scream, but she also knew that she needed to talk to her uncle and not just scream. She took her seat, "So, how long do I have to be punished for my mistake uncle Oz? I made the decision to leave, and Emmet tried to stop me, but I made the decision to be there for him on such a big night for him. This is the pinnacle of his career, and he was rewarded for it, and I didn't want to miss that. So I can't apologize anymore for that, I have done it enough. But for you to hold that over my head, and deny me the opportunity to be with the man I love is so wrong. I have done all I could to make up for what I've done, but all you can do is give me crumbs, while you offer the whole damn loaf to everyone else."
Oz laughed bitterly with no humour in his voice. "It hasn't been an entire year but of course, you have already quite moved on from it, haven't you Valeria? And don't give me lies about Emmet trying to stop you. That's bullshit and we both know it. If anyone had pulled that nonsense with me, jeopardizing my standing, they certainly wouldn't have been purchased jewellery for and allowed to walk down the red carpet. That is the weakest version of 'no' I have ever seen in 45 years. He rewarded you for your defiance and let's not pretend otherwise. Also I have allowed your relationship to continue against my better judgment and have even been so recently impressed as to permit travel if you will recall. So far from denying you the chance to be with him, which would have been my right to do, I permitted it. Generously. You have yet to earn the whole damn loaf. Either of you. I will not reward temper tantrums or permissive weakness. Frankly, the only thing you are convincing me of is that I was right."
Val stood up, "NO! I am not going to allow you to talk about Emmet that way, he is not weak, and yes he wanted me there with him, why wouldn't he? He loves me, and wants me to share in these moments with him, and for you to act like you have never made a mistake, or done something stupid for love, then again I call bullshit. You are not right about this, what you are is cruel. If it was in your rights to tear us apart, then why not do it, instead of letting me have hope in my heart that one day you would come around, knowing you never planned on letting that happen. And I am supposed sit around and watch everyone else get what they want, and even help them plan it, but never getting that moment for myself? That is the worse thing you could do to me uncle Oz, the worse."
Oz rose to his feet to look down at the petite enraged girl, "That is enough! You have no right to speak to me in this manner. If you cannot be civil then you will leave. I have had enough. For the record, you are making a great deal of assumptions about my personal life that are not warranted or invited." Frankly at this point, his regret was damaging Megan's life by claiming her in the first place. However, that was not information he would share with Valeria. They had not healed enough between them for shared confidences and frankly after today he suspected any hope for it was long gone. "Do you really want me to order you to end your relationship? Think carefully before you issue challenges like that to a cruel monster like me."
Val sighed and sat back down, "You are doing this you know that? This is all your fault, and you are too blind to see it. I honestly can't understand why you are being so stubborn, and putting our families lives on the line. All you have to do is allow a few of us to be claimed, and we can all stay, but you are truly showing why people call you a monster, and I know you better than that. I know that you are not a heartless as you want people to believe you are. You are the same man that had tea parties with me when I was a little girl. The same man that read me bedtime stories at night, and checked under my bed for monsters when I was scared. So I know you are not that monster, but you are so desperate to make people believe that you are, that now, you are starting to act like one." She knew she didn't want him to break her and Emmet apart, but she was not going to let him control her whole life. "You know that's not what I want, but let me throw a challenge back your way, if you do decide to order the end of Emmet and my relationship, I will do what Vin and Alice did, and you know Emmet will back me up, and we'll leave Verona ourselves." She looked him in the eye, "Is that what you want uncle Oz? I love you and I want to be here with my family, but you are pushing me away right now."
Oz waited until Valeria sat before he followed suit. The trip down memory lane was not particularly welcome. "Then you will now have cause to join them. I will be the Monster of Verona. You can proudly claim to be among the first to spot it or the last as the case may be." He sighed, "I will not tolerate any elopements Valeria. So put that out of your head. The one thing I like about that foppish tattooed pup that Ginny has grown inexplicably fond of is that he talked her out of such a notion. I will lay the blame squarely at your Dominant's door for permitting such a permanent rift with your family."
Val sighed, "I don't want to join them, I want to be a Montague and a Capulet. I love my family, and I love you, but how do you expect me to behave when you are coming against me with who I love." She wanted to cry, but she knew he would think she was weak because of it. "Fine, I won't elope, but I want you to be fair with me uncle Oz. I love Emmet, and that's not going to change, so why won't you allow me to be happy? I am not going to leave you, and I know you know that, I will always be a Montague, no matter what, but I want to be claimed....and have babies. I want my kids to know you like I know you."
Oz nodded as she at least conceded on this point. "I expect you to behave as a grown woman who is still earning my trust who has, without my understanding of it, grown to love a Dominant who is still earning my respect. I know you have magically pretended that well is dry and there should be no more atonement but trust does not regrow in an instant. I had already thought myself to be moving in the correct direction by permitting you to travel with him, for the very first time with actual permission. I apologize if your procreation plans need to be put off for a few more months due to my recalcitrant ways but you were stuck with me as the head of your family and not the placid weakness that is Lady Bea. Frankly you would have run ramshod over her before you were in puberty from what I can see."
Val had enough of this talk, "I don't know what to say to you right now, I am livid..." She sighed and shook her head, "I never thought that trust would grow back instantly, but I did hope because I am your niece that you would show me a bit more mercy, but obviously not. Just knowing that you are allowing Ginny to get claimed, before me, when I have been asking about it so much longer just baffles me." She grabbed her purse, "So how long is it going to take? Because that was so long ago, and maybe not a year, but is that the cut off time for you trust me again?" She knew he was right about Lady Bea, "You might be right about that, but remember I learned what I know from you."
Oz nodded, "Your feelings are understandable and frankly at this moment if I could retract my consent to that claim I would. I did so in a fit of pique and I have paid dearly for my momentary lapse in good judgment, as evidenced by your visit today. You act as if I handed this to them with great blessings. I have not. I will not. But Ginny's soon to be Dominant..." At that Oz made a face of pure disgust, "At least has been prepared to live by the rules and conditions I have set them and has never sought to undermine me or make me look publicly foolish."
Val sighed, "So this is all about that huh? You know how persuasive I am, and even if Emmet would have said no, I would have gone anyway. You know I would, so please don't blame this all on Emmet. He is not a weak dominant, he was just cursed to fall in love with a stubborn submissive, that would rather do what she wants, and risk the consequences later." She sat back, "Do you think that maybe if you set some guidelines on Emmet and me, would you, even if it is begrudgingly, allow Emmet and I a claim."
Oz stared for a moment and then shrugged, "Were the consequences worth it Valeria?" he asked very seriously. "I will consider it. But that is all I will concede."
Val "It wasn't great, but it showed me that I can do anything I want to do if I put my mind to it. And that I don't have to be reliant on you and your money, that I can make it on my own. But I hate you not trusting me, when I know there are things you want to tell me, but you are holding back, and that sucks. That's the most important thing I lost."Â Val sighed, "But I appreciate the consideration." She got up and headed to the door, "I do love you uncle Oz, but please think about it seriously."
Oz considered her words and nodded, "Yes, I miss you as well. But I cannot divulge my thoughts to someone whom I cannot trust." His words were softly stated but bluntly honest. "But I am pleased to see you finally taking things on for yourself, something which you will note I encouraged you to do for years." He sighed and shook his head, "I love you too Valeria. I wish things could be different between us as well. I will consider."
Val sighed and opened the door, "I do too, and yes, I do know that you encouraged me for years, but I'm stubborn, I wonder where I got that from." She smiled, and although it hurt to hear him say he didn't trust her, in all honesty, she didn't know if she could fully trust him either, especially the way he was treating her relationship. "I'll see you later Lord Montague." She smiled and walked out, heading to Emmet's place, she needed to be held.
Oz 's lips curled in a sad smile. "You came by it rightfully I will admit." Her defiance had not only hurt their relationship but his standing as the Head of the family. To be betrayed by someone he considered so close to him had been a deep blow. It did not heal quickly, especially not for Oz. "Good day Valeria." The door closed and he contemplated going to his residence. Deciding that would be pointless since there was nothing there for him, he reached into the cupboard and withdrew a good bottle of bourbon that he had been saving for a special occasion. To get very drunk would be a perfectly terrible beginning to the week.

In the Smoke pt. 30 (Cobblebats)
From Bruceâs POV
Standing in front of the door to my dadâs office, Oz and I exchanged looks for a moment as we prepared ourselves, ready to face Lady Arkham head-on. We didnât hear any noises coming from inside -- not even talking -- and things actually seemed peaceful. Almost suspiciously peaceful. A part of me couldnât help but think this was a trap.Â
âOnce we open that door,â Oz warned, âthereâs no going back. I know weâre only distractinâ her so Batman can jump in, but you know Vicki. She donât play nice. You sure youâre ready for this?â
I tightened my grip on my battle-axe and aimed it at the doorâs lock, taking a breath.
âI have to be. Gotham isnât gonna survive much longer with the Children of Arkham still hanging around, and theyâre certainly not gonna get rid of themselves. We have to end this now.â
Oz sighed. â...youâre right. Youâre right. Just...try to be careful, all right?â
âI will if you do.â
He grinned at me. âWhereâs the fun in that? Now open that door already so we can kick her arse.â
Raising the medieval weapon above my head, I took a second to brace myself and strengthened my hold before slamming the blade into the doorâs surface, causing the wood to splinter. It wasnât open yet, but with one more swing, it would be demolished.Â
Aiming directly at the lock, I swung the axe once again, but with much more force, and within the blink of an eye, the door had been busted open. What we found inside however, was nothing like what we expected.
Inside my dadâs office was a massacre. Large puddles of fresh blood stained the floor, broken furniture was scattered all over the area, burn marks had been singed into the walls, and yet, none of the hostages seemed to be hurt. What the hell happened here?
Observing the unusual scene, Oz set the hostages free whilst I alerted Alfred of the strange turn of events, darting my eyes around for any sudden movements.
âAlfred,â I whispered, in case someone was hiding around, âweâre inside Dadâs office, but...â
The butler urged me on. â...but what?â
âIt looks like another fight already took place here. The place is a complete mess, and Lady Arkham is nowhere to be seen.â
There was a pause. âThat is...indeed odd. What of the hostages? Are they safe?â
âYeah,â I confirmed. âOz is releasing them as we speak. Weâre gonna search around some more, see if we canât figure out what went down.â
âTread with caution, Bruce. Who knows who couldâve caused all that carnage. If someoneâs reached Lady Arkham before you, well then, I suppose thatâs a...good thing? Though, itâd best to keep in mind that just because theyâre enemies with her, doesnât necessarily mean theyâre friends with you.â
âDonât worry, Al. We wonât let our guard down.â
âA wise decision. Very well. Iâll let you get back to work. Iâll also inform your father of what youâve just told me. Stay safe, Master Bruce.â
Ending the call, I walked over to Oz who was currently investigating something hidden behind the desk, only to see him kneeling next to a body. But not just anyoneâs body -- Lady Arkhamâs. She was sitting on the floor with her back leaning against the desk, her mask had been torn off, and it was clear that she had been through some rough battle. At first glance, she looked like a corpse.
âHoly shit,â I blurted out in surprise, âis she...dead?â
Oz glanced up at me with a solemn look. âNo, but sheâs about to be.âÂ
Grabbing her shoulders, Oz tried to shake her into consciousness, hoping that she would be able to tell us something. For a while though, Lady Arkham only remained like a limp rag doll in his grip, and there were some points where Oz almost looked...disappointed. It was easy to forget sometimes, but the two of them did use to be friends.Â
âCâmon,â he shook her harder, âwake up, you prick...!â
After a series of light slaps to the cheeks, Lady Arkhamâs eyes finally fluttered open and landed on Oz, causing anger to instantly spread across her face. Though, despite her obvious urge to attack us on sight, she stayed frozen in place, not moving a single muscle. Either she was just that weak, or she had already given up.Â
â...Oz...â Lady Arkham croaked out, letting out a low chuckle, â...youâve got some nerve to show your face to me.â
Oz gestured to the rest of the office. âWhat the hell happened, Vicki? Who did this?â
She grimaced, flinching slightly as a surge of pain shot through her. â...Gideon. That traitorâs stronger than he looks. ...Much, much stronger. My weapon did nothing to him.â
Oz furrowed his brow. âNothing? How?â
Lady Arkham shrugged. âDonât know, but he raised hell before you got here. Nearly killed me. Now heâs hiding somewhere in the catacombs beneath the city. You have to find him.â
I crossed my arms. âThe catacombs? Why there?â
âNo idea, but thatâs where he is. You gotta catch him before he escapes.â
I gave her a firm nod. âWe will. Heâs not leaving those catacombs alive.â I began heading for the exit. âCâmon, Oz. Letâs go before he decides to run.â
But Oz didnât move. Instead, he simply tilted his head towards the officeâs door, patting a hand on Vickiâs shoulder. âYou go on ahead, Bruce. Iâll keep an eye on Vicki, and make sure Batman gets her. Iâll catch up with you later.â
I didnât know how I felt about leaving Oz alone with Vicki. After all, there was no guarantee that she wouldnât try attacking him for revenge.
âAre you sure?â I questioned. He got his gun out and leaned against a wall, glaring directly at Vicki.
âCompletely. Donât worry. She wonât get away.â
Letting the subject go, I decided not to push any further and took Ozâs word for it, contacting Alfred once again before navigating my way to the catacombs.
âAl, tell Dad that weâve got Lady Arkham. Sheâs not dead, but sheâs been severely injured. Oz is watching over her right now.â
There was a short outburst of static. Alfred sighed in relief. âOh, thank goodness. Very well done, sir. To the both of you. Your father is actually already on his way to the office. Iâll let him know of the long-awaited victory. I suppose...I suppose thatâs the end of it, then.â
âNot quite,â I replied. âOne of Lady Arkhamâs men went rogue before we arrived -- apparently almost murdered her. Now heâs hiding in Gothamâs catacombs. Iâm going to look for him.â
âIs that really necessary, Bruce? The head of the Children of Arkham is down. Their leader is in our hands. Are you certain we need to go after some wayward individual?â
I stepped out of the office. âThis oneâs different, Alfred. Heâs extremely dangerous, and resistant to many different types of damage. Not even Lady Arkhamâs staff could hurt him. His name is Gideon Black.â
The butler paused in thought. â...G-Gideon Black? Why, thatâs the man your father interrogated not too long ago. He was...quite the unique character, Iâll say. But I did some more research on him, you see, and I learned that his daughter is actually still alive. A nine-year-old girl named Eva Black. She was once a prisoner of Hillâs men, but itâs reported that she escaped recently. If you tell Gideon this information, Iâm sure heâll listen to reason.â
I exhaled, biting my lip in nervousness. There werenât many men out there who could scare me so easily, and normally, I wouldâve had more confidence in my success, but Gideon was a whole new level of lethal. Instead of striking out in the open, he always stuck to the shadows, ripping his victims to shreds when they least expected it. Just by knowing that he was still alive made me paranoid, and I found myself checking over my shoulders more and more often. One wrong move with him, and Iâd be dead.Â
Taking a deep, calming breath, I stepped out of the office and pressed my earpiece, uttering what couldâve possibly been my final words.
âOnly one way to find out.â
