Megatron has to save everyone's ass in the beginning of the Dark Timeline. TFP Shockwave Part 1 

Megatron had locked his servos with Shockwave's own and forced his cannon upright. Shockwave tried to fire at him, but Megatron strength was too much for him.

"Explain yourself, Megatron!" Shockwave demanded, "You abandon the Decepticon cause and now fight for these weak organics!"

"Don't act like you ever cared about the Decepticon cause!" Megatron shot back, "All you ever cared about were your botched and demented experiments!

“That may be true, but I did not waste the time of other Decepticons with an illogical conquest that resulted in the exile of our planet,” Shockwave declared.

Megatron gritted his dentas in anger before glancing behind him. The Predacon is tearing through the nape of Reiner's titan armor, ready to pull him out of the nape of the neck. However, Pieck manages to get the jump on the Predacon and ram it in the side to knock it back. Megatron noticed Zeke's charred titan body on the ground from the flames of the Predacon. Magath seemed to be calling for Pieck, but he didn't know where Porco was. He couldn't find him at this moment.

But it was clear that Megatron was at a disadvantage. He could probably take out Shockwave, but he still questioned his own strength when it came to fighting a Predacon. If the titan shifters were all killed or worse, Shockwave would be unstoppable. So he made a decision.

Megatron raised his pede and yelled as he kicked Shockwave square in the chassis, sending him flying backwards. Megatron then bolted to Zeke's charred body and sliced the neck open with his sword before ripping Zeke's human body out. He then ran over to Reiner's shredded nape and ripped his human body out as well before transforming into his alt mode with them inside.

"Pieck, get on!" Megatron shouted for her. Magath yelped as Pieck grabbed him with her maw again and tried to look for Porco so they could all flee, but she heard a cry of pain, and looked over to see the Predacon sink its teeth into Porco's sides and pull him back.

"Porco!" Pieck screamed in the nape of the neck.

"Pieck, we need to go!" Megatron flew directly beside her.

"Pieck!" Porco screamed for her. "Pieck, please!"

"Pieck, now!" Megatron ordered her.

Pieck wanted to go back. She wanted to go and save Porco, but she saw Shockwave slowly getting up and fear overrode everything. She climbed onto the top of Megatron's alt mode, ignoring Porco's desperate cries for help. She tightened her grip as Megatron flew as fast as he could away from the Predacon and Shockwave. He didn't hear the flapping of the Predacon's wings, nor the shrill cries the creature usually emits. He just flew as fast as he could towards the island.

Reiner was slowly coming to when he realized he was in a cramped space. What happened Where was he? Reiner careened his head to see that Zeke was unconscious next to him. The space was tight and cramped. And he could hear the strange noises of an engine outside. Reiner gasped when he remembered what had happened. The one-eyed demon, Shockwave! The Flying Titan! Were they captured?! Did they escape?! God he hoped they were actually safe from that monster!

Suddenly, Reiner felt his stomach drop as he felt himself descending downward. The cramped space that he and Zeke were suddenly in opened wide and Reiner and Zeke hit the ground hard. Reiner could feel his wounds slowly regenerating as he heard screams of confusion around him. He raised his head and gasped in horror to see the 104th staring at him with both shock and anger. Reiner might not be safe after all.

Reiner suddenly heard a strangled cry and snapped his head to see the Flying Titan grab Pieck by the throat and slam her into the ground, forcing Magath out of her mouth in the process.

"Megatron stop!" Optimus yelled as he hooked his arms under Megatron's own and pulled him back.

"You foolish, idiotic, waste of space!" Megatron screamed at Magath, "You've doomed everyone on this planet with your greed and incompetence!"

“What the hell is going on?!” Hanji demanded, “Why the fuck are they here?!”

“Shockwave!” Megatron shouted, causing Optimus to freeze and let him go. “Those slagging fools were working with Shockwave! That’s why their technology had gotten so advanced!”

“We were working against you devils! We took the-!”

Megatron slams his fist into the ground. “You think Shockwave cares about what you want! You were a means to an end! It was only a matter of time before he betrayed you! Because of you, he’s managed to create a Predacon with regenerative properties!”

“What?!” Optimus exclaimed.

“He’s going to hold this entire world hostage because of your arrogance and idiocy!” Megatron yells, “Damn it all!”

“W-who is Shockwave?” Armin trembled.

Optimus looked back at Megatron, who was still fuming in anger. “Megatron’s key scientist during the great war. Devoid of emotion and guided by his own definition of logic, Shockwave has been well known for his infamous and unethical experiments. The Cortical Psychic Patch, which allows one to see into the minds of another Cybertronian by force. The creation of the space bridge: a mode of transportation lost to Cybertron for eons. And his most recent experiment.”

Optimus turns to the Marleyans. “Which you all saw-,”

“The Predacon,” Megatron explained, “An ancient beast that fed off of Cybertronians. They went extinct during the Great Cataclysm that befell our world. With mere scraps on our dead planet, he brought Predacons back, with the ability to transform and have sentience like the rest of modern day Cybertronians. Shockwave tampers with creation because he wants to. It’s the one thing that drives him, and you just gave someone who defies Primus’ wishes information about the power of the titans! Your arrogance has doomed Marley and this world!”

“Our family,” Reiner finally managed to muster.

“Consider them dead until further notice,” Megatron declared coldly, “With the entirety of Marleyan military dead, and an enormous supply of titan serums and Eldians in Marley, Shockwave will continue what he started. Mourn your loved ones. They are gone.”

"No..." Reiner could only muster, "No you're....you're wrong. You..." Reiner trailed off when he saw Optimus' grim expression. Reiner's hands gripped his hair and he broke down into tears. The life that he once knew was over.

(Well I expect the next one to be 22 unless someone else asks me a different question. We'll see what happens.)

Imagine Shockwave Holoform is just a tall dude with S4 Hange head with Red eye. Like I can imagine, Shockwave going to Paradis (with his Holoform) and everyone is on the Island is confused, like which one is the real hange.

Translation: I bet the AOP cast in the warriors part and the cadets in the dark timeline have already wondered and noticed about the relationship between Optimus and Megatron, especially with him worrying about the OP, spending more time with him when he was passed out in the neutral ship and so on... it would be cool for them to know that they are "brothers" and what would their reactions be like?

(I chose the dark time because of all the timelines it is the one that has the most weight in the relationship between the two)

I suppose they would wonder more about that once Optimus and Gabi are rescued from Shockwave.

I'd imagine the urgency of getting Optimus back is no doubt due to the tactical advantage and what he knows in terms of the power of the titans. At least that's what the Warriors and Warrior Cadets surmise. However Pieck is the only one that knows the full context of Megatron and Optimus' relationship after Part 8: Zeke’s Karma Part 1. She's the only one out of the Warriors and Warrior Cadets that knows Megatron's personal relationship with Optimus is. She decided to keep her mouth shut about it, not wanting to incur Megatron's wrath upon her and the remaining Warriors.

But because Pieck was there and heard Megatron call Optimus brother, she does pick up on a few things she probably would've missed if she didn't hear it. The way that they talk to each other. The way their silence around each other can speak louder than words. The way that they fight. She's wondered if the others noticed and does here the Warrior Cadets question it. What would surprise Pieck is Gabi knowing the full context when she comments on it offhandedly. Pieck asks her how she knows and Gabi explains that she saw some of Optimus' memories involving Megatron.

And Gabi can't help but ask Pieck how someone can forgive another after years of war and bad blood. Pieck merely shrugs in response. She didn't know the answer, and replied that life was simply strange and complicated. That nothing was so simple. But...it still gave her hope in such a dark time. That maybe there would be peace for the Eldian people.

Translate: What if Porce was successfully saved in the exchange, in the dark timeline, where he was held captive long enough to not transform into the Colossus Titan? If he were to be stripped of his titan form and given a heavy dose of energon—enough to nullify the dark energon—would he have a chance of surviving, even if that chance was a million-to-one?

Previous Episode of the Dark Timeline

So I never really had Porco living past the deal exchange and Eren's surrender to Shockwave. I never talked about it before in detail, but the general idea was that the dark energon experimentation was going so poorly and destroying his body, so when he was forced by Shockwave to attack the island during the prisoner swap failure, it was the last time. The transformation was too much for Porco and it killed him. But Porco's death count was still extremely high.

But even if, hypothetically, Optimus decides to tell Gabi to break him out once Optimus sees Porco's condition deteriorating and all three of them get rescued, I still believe that Porco would still be terminal. The island doesn't have the resources to pull off a heavy dosage of energon to nullify the dark energon in one go. They'll give him energon to slow it down, but it's not enough to restore the regeneration process. Porco would still die, but at the very least, he wouldn't die by Shockwave or by a pure titan. There's also the fact that they would have to burn Porco's body after he died on the off-chance his body respawned like a zombie.

It'd be tragic, but at least the Warriors would get to say goodbye. However, Shockwave would now be more inclined to launch an assault on the island now that he doesn't have a bargaining chip.

Who's the real Hanji?

After Eren and Megatron's funeral, Optimus heads back to Cybertron and doesn't come back until the Epilogue which is a four year timeskip. So it's the humans that make the effort to visit both Eren and Megatron. Mikasa and Armin visit Eren the most on that tree on the hill, while Levi is the one that visits Megatron quite frequently.

It's when Optimus comes back after that four year time skip that he puts more effort into visiting Eren and Megatron's grave. Optimus is surprised at how simple Eren's grave is, but Mikasa and Armin explain that this is where Eren loved to nap, so they made sure that it was a quiet place compared to the memorial in Eren and Megatron's honor. Optimus lies down on the grass with Armin and Mikasa, enjoying the quiet together.

Optimus is also surprised at Megatron's burial place and how well it's been maintained, and how many flowers and offerings have been laid there. Hanji explains that they thought Megatron would've liked the praise as a stroke to his ego. Levi is the one that does his best to keep it clean.

Levi: Say a word and I'm taking your other eye.

Optimus giving a small smile: I didn't say anything.

Optimus and the Survey Corps would visit during special events: New Years, a marriage, introducing the kids, those types of things. After the Survey Corps do pass, Optimus will do his best to drop by from time to time to keep their graves present and alive. It's the least he can do for them all.

Megatron writing on a chalkboard: Besides Shockwave reverse engineering predacon bones to bring back an extinct race, he's also created the cortical psychic patch, which allows one to see into the minds and memories of another Cybertronian.

Pixis: That's physically impossible. How would he be able to do that?

Megatron: The device sinks itself into the back of the skull and really gets into your brain in order to extract the memories. And if you don't discharge it properly it well essentially liquify your brain.

Nile covering his mouth: Oh god.

Levi: Okay, what else?

Megatron: Shockwave managed to find spacebridge schematics and rebuild the spacebridge, so it's only a matter of time before he utilizes transportation. He experimented on Dinobots and forced them to have the ability to transform, similar to forcing Eldians to transform into titans. He then sent the soldiers I assigned him to their deaths to fight the Dinobots to test their might.

Nile: He sent his own soldiers to die?!

Megatron: Honestly that's not the worst thing he's done. The Grimlock experimentation is the one of the more egregious offenders.

Levi: And I'm guessing you sent your own soldiers to die too?

Megatron: War is war. And Erwin did that too.

Levi:...Fair enough.

Megatron: Shockwave has grafted the body parts of fallen comrades onto living hosts in order to create something stronger. For example, someone takes your arm points to Anka and attaches it to him points to Gustav. Without any numbing agents.

Gustav: By the Walls.

Anka: Definitely feeling sick right now.

Megatron: Much of Shockwave's experiment didn't put many of his victims under any anesthesia because he wanted to test pain tolerance. He's also told me about his combiners experiment-!

Nile: What the hell is a combiner?!

Megatron: A Cybertronian that's able to transform into a much larger Cybertronian with other Cybertronians. They were rare, so Shockwave was hellbent on kidnapping a bunch of Cybertronians and force them into becoming one being. A lot of mind melding, loss of self, unifying different body parts that don't belong together. He's also brainwashed Trypticon into becoming a Decepticon by using the hearts of fallen Cybertronians and just shoving it into his body.

Megatron: Look at all of these crimes gestures to the board and tell me that you'd be willing to fight that!

Pixis: If I didn't know any better, it sounds like you're afraid of Shockwave.

Optimus caught in a rather sweet predicament with the Warrior Cadets in the Dark Timeline

"Hey, Eren," Reiner walked up to the other titan shifter. He still felt a little uncomfortable addressing him by name. He was still getting used to the fact that they were on speaking terms. He expected Eren to greet him with venom, but Eren waved a simple 'hello'. He smiled even. It probably helped that Optimus was back on his feet again. Everyone couldn't help but be worried for the titan's health.

"Have you seen Gabi and her friends by any chance?" he had asked Eren.

"No." Eren shook his head as he wiped his face with a towel, "I just finished training with Megatron."

"I just haven't seen Gabi and she needs to rest and take her medicine. Do you think you can help me find her?" Reiner asked.

"Sure," Eren agreed as he put down the towel, "We can always ask Optimus, since she seems to be attached to him."

"I just...find it weird," Reiner confessed, "That Gabi would adore a titan of all things."

"Well Optimus tends to have that effect on people," Eren shrugged, "C'mon. Let's ask Hanji. They saw him last."

"I told him to take a break," Hanji explained, "He's been trying to go above and beyond without actually recovering from his injuries."

"Do you know where he could have gone?" Reiner asked, "I really do need to find Gabi and Optimus might know where she is."

"Well...," Hanji pondered the thought, "If Optimus did take my advice, he might be at his library?"

"Library?" Reiner questioned in surprise.

"The library's been closed since we heard about Shockwave," Eren recalled.

"Well, Optimus cares too much about that place, and knowing him, he'd reopen it to the public to give some people joy," Hanji reasoned, "Try there, and if you can't find him there, we'll call Buckethead so he can drag Optimus back to the neutral ship."

Later

Reiner and Eren had arrived to the building Eren described on horseback. Both jumped off of their shared horse and Eren tied the reigns to a tree.

"So...this is it?" Reiner asked.

"Yep," Eren answered before noticing Optimus' alt mode sitting there, "And Optimus is here too."

"Why does Optimus have a library?" Reiner asked as they walked up to the door.

"We gave it to him as a gift," Eren explained as he opened the door, "Optimus misses his home, so we thought that we could bring parts of his home to him."

"He can't go back?" Reiner asked.

"Before he couldn't," Eren answered, "But with Wheeljack and Arcee's help, he-!" Eren paused when he heard a familiar voice from an open door down the hall. Eren quickened the pace, forcing Reiner to follow after him. When both titan shifters arrived, they were met with the sight of the library, cleaned from top to bottom. There were a few books on the ground, but also on the ground, was Optimus' holoform. His back was propped up against the front of his desk and he was reading aloud to his audience.

Said audience consisted of the Warrior Cadets, who were cuddled up against each other and against the Prime. Falco was propped up next to Colt, while Colt's head rested on Optimus' right shoulder. Meanwhile, Udo and Zofia rested next to each other on Optimus' lap. Many of them had fallen asleep to Optimus' narration of the book except for Gabi. The girl clung to Optimus' left arm and snuggled close to the Prime. She tried to keep herself awake to listen to Optimus speak, but her eyes were starting to droop from exhaustion.

Reiner couldn't help but gawk at the sight of the Warrior Cadets being so comfortable around Optimus. He turned his attention to Eren, but he noticed that he looked so relieved to see Optimus so well-rested and content. Reiner wanted to say something, but he decided to let it go. The Warrior Cadets needed this moment of peace.

Previous Episode of the Dark Timeline

So Megatron is obviously afraid of leading because he doesn't want to relapse and make everyone's lives even worse. It Levi who ultimately tells him that they need his help which forces him to be the de facto Commander of the Survey Corps.

That being said, Megatron doesn't know jack about the Wall's military and government. Two years on the planet and he doesn't fully know how the Walls work! He knows more about Marley because he's been spying in the region, but Paradis? Nope! Hanji's out of the equation, so he has to default to Levi for help, and neither are happy about it but they suck it up because of Shockwave. The one thing that does unite them is when they complain about other people's incompetence.

Megatron has also had to learn to control his temper because he doesn't want to regress and hurt people in the process. Usually when he really feels his anger boiling over, he goes somewhere else to destroy something in order to release his stress and anger.

Megatron immediately has to do a vetting of the military because of the whole Zeke wine debacle. Thankfully, Shockwave comes between year 1 and 2 of the time skip so not too much damage is done in terms of the military. But Pixis is removed and Anka takes his places, with Gustav serving as her secound.

Megatron has to actively list all of Shockwave's war crimes to the Marleyans and Eldians to get them to see the bigger picture. There's a lot of vomiting involved because Megatron gets really graphic and has to explain the human equivalent of Shockwave's experiments to really get the point across.

I'd imagine Megatron would actually have a crash out moment where he would just collapse out of exhaustion. He doesn't sleep much due to his nightmares, but the workload has definitely screwed with him. Levi has found him passed out on the floor of the Nemesis and has to wait to see moment to confirm he's still alive.

I'd also imagine that Megatron earning the trust and respect of everyone, even after Optimus' return is still jarring. Because when Optimus was captured, the military begged for his help out of desperation. They still feared him and his orders, because he's starkly different from Optimus' gentle nature. But it gets the job done, and Megatron saves more lives in response. They welcome him openly and willingly.

I mean...I still haven't explained those moments in between Eren's capture and the Dark Timeline Ending, so not everyone makes it out alive, but I digress.

So Mikasa left to bury Eren's head on the island. In this timeline, he is considered a hero and honored. And Megatron's death has kind of put her in a bit of a depression on top of losing Eren, so she's took time to herself, lived off grid, only really talked to Armin if he ever swung by.

Armin mourns him too; however, his tears were more spent on the loss of Eren than on Megatron. He still mourns him; however. Humanity wouldn't have survived this long if it wasn't for Megatron's help. The very least Armin can do for him is help assist in the funeral service when Optimus is crashing out to do a proper one.

Sasha's just stunned. She's never really talked to Megatron very much. She was always afraid of him, but...this hurt her.

Wheeljack and Arcee are absolutely floored by all of this. By how much Megatron had changed and how much he was willing to sacrifice, just to give humanity a chance to live. Obviously, they still hate him for what he's done, but...the hatred's subsided significantly.

Lara, I'll let her live in this timeline, mourns him. She had feelings for him. Conflicting ones at that. But she still stands because of him. How could she not be grateful?

Hanji can't help but mourn and be full of regret. They didn't mean to place burdens on him. They didn't mean to make his life even harder. And now they'll never get the chance to properly make it up to him.

Levi is a very interesting case. He didn't openly grieve for him. But....he did implore Optimus to stop ripping Megatron's corpse apart to get the dark energon out. But after everything has settled, Levi visits the grave sight once a year, pours wine out for Megatron in respect. Part of Levi still doesn't like him. But...Megatron deserved that respect. He deserved to be remembered, even for a brief moment. After everything Megatron had ever done for them since Shockwave arrived, he was owed that much.

The backlash of Magath keeping secrets in Part 15: Magath and the Warriors in the Dark Timeline.

Magath was immediately ostracized by everyone once the secrets of Marley immediately went out. Pieck, Annie, and Reiner immediately told every single Eldian from Marley the truth. Many called for his death, some had tried to kill him, but the Captain, Levi, quickly came to stop them, telling them that they can't afford in fighting right now. Out of respect, they backed off. Magath was about to thank him, but the Captain looked at him with such venom and vitriol that he immediately backed off.

Magath tried to speak with Pieck and the other Warriors once more, but that resulted in Annie's father interfering, pulling a gun on him and ordering him to back off, even firing a warning shot near his head.

As a last ditch effort, Magath tried to approach the Warrior Cadets. They were kids, and...part of him was banking on the fact that the brainwashing would be strong enough at least allow a conversation. He did care about them though, even if he never showed it. That sounded a little bit messed up looking back on it. When he tried to talk to them, they all backed away in fear. Magath tried to approach again, but Optimus immediately put his foot down in his bipedal mode, shaking the ground and scaring everyone. Optimus gave Magath a look of warning, and Magath turned and walked away out of fear. He looked back to see Optimus kneeling down and cradling the Warrior Cadets protectively in his large hands.

"Look at you, finally on the receiving end of your ignorance and mistakes." Magath snapped his head up to Megatron, who was merely drinking some energon.

"Doesn't feel good does it?" Megatron mocked as he took another sip of energon.

Magath grew angry. "None of this would have happened if it wasn't for you!"

"Your little plan of executing the Eldians would have still been there regardless if Shockwave got involved or not," Megatron reminded, "And how would you live with yourself when they looked at you with heartbreak as they were carted off to their deaths?"

Magath scowled in response.

"Magath, you knew deep down that what you were doing was wrong," Megatron reminded, "This is just a consequence you have to live with."

Magath looked down at the ground in defeat.

"The question is how will you make amends," Megatron challenged before walking away from the human, finishing the rest of his energon.

Part 28: Ending

Mikasa continued staring at the statue before her in the quiet hours of the early morning, adjusting the travel bag slung along her shoulder. It was in a rather quiet place: in the desert of Fort Salta, but the camp that was set up near the area was not too far from here. It was an hour by foot. That was nothing in comparison to the hoops she had to accomplish in order to get to this very spot from Paradis. But she did experience some unexpected kindness. Onyankopon had introduced her to the Hizuru clan, remembering information about what Yelena had told him about Mikasa being descendant from the royal bloodline. She made it clear she wanted nothing to do with that, earning a modest laugh from the new emperor: Kenshin. Someone did tell him that she was there during that battle that decided the fate of their world. Mikasa was afraid of the attention that would come with that knowledge, but Kenshin was kind to keep that information between them. But he stated he and Hizuru's survival were forever in her debt, and promised to pay her back however he could. She just asked for a ride to Fort Salta and a ride back to Paradis.

But still, the statue bothered her. It was actually some type of angel with wings, slaying a demon that was supposed to be Shockwave. They did make the demon have one eye like Shockwave did, but it didn't look nearly as terrifying as the actual titan. It wasn't even made of metal, it was human skin.

Mikasa sighed. She wasn't going to lie to herself; she still had nightmares of almost being taken by Shockwave before Eren made that dangerous bargain.

"Mikasa?" Mikasa blinked at the familiar voice calling out to her from behind. She turned and saw Optimus walking up to her and the statue. He looked better and healthier. His armor no longer looked faded or discolored. He got his proper repairs. However...Mikasa looked up to see that Optimus' right optic was now replaced with a patch.

After they had defeated Shockwave, Wheeljack and Arcee had managed to use his resources to contact Cybertron. There was initial tension between them, what with the communication signal being from a Decepticon warship, and Optimus being alive. But once Optimus picked up the Star Saber, the tension and hostility was met with relief and jubilation. The Autobots have and still help out with the repairs on this world, but Optimus was receiving medical treatment on Cybertron, and when he elected to not return publicly even after he received it, they all knew what that meant:

Optimus was tired. He had been for a long time, and losing both Eren and Megatron seemed to finally be the last straw. He elected to live peacefully despite a few pleas from his old comrades, but they ultimately respected his decision. However, He did send a letter to Hanji, promising to return for any planned reunions, and today seemed to be that day. The Autobots and the humans of Paradis still continued to repair the whole world, Paradis and the mainland, building an era of peace and healing, without the one responsible for putting an end to Shockwave's life.

"I was expecting you to be on the island," Optimus remarked.

Mikasa turned back to the statue. "I found some help to get me here."

Optimus stared at the statue, and Mikasa couldn't help but glance back to see a look of disdain on his face. Seems he also hated the statue. She looked back at the engraving at the statue and sighed. "The Battle of Hell and Earth." Seemed fitting enough.

"It's been four years since we've seen each other," Mikasa began.

"...I am sorry," Optimus apologized, "I needed time."

"Don't be," Mikasa reassured, "I didn't want to help out with rebuilding at all. It shows how selfish I am."

"Mikasa, you made an unfathomable choice," Optimus retorted, "You more than anyone needed time alone."

"Maybe, but Armin lost his friend too, yet he's still helping," Mikasa shot back.

"I think we both know that a life of diplomacy and publicity was not meant for you," Optimus declared.

Mikasa let out a small smile. "Guess so." The Ackerman then looked at the Prime. "I'm sorry."

Optimus raised an eyebrow. "For what?"

"...you did not get a chance to say goodbye to Eren," Mikasa answered, "I took that chance away from you."

Optimus noticed the sun was rising in the east and turned his attention to that. "Eren and I had many conversations prior to Shockwave's proposal. And I am proud to see how much Eren had grown."

"But you still did not get to say goodbye," Mikasa retorted.

"I know, and I mourned that loss in private," Optimus confessed, "But it seemed that Eren died without any regrets."

Mikasa remembered that. After she had decapitated Eren, his severe head just looked so at peace. Even before the impact, she saw his expression fade to peace. But...

"...you looked more heartbroken when it came down to Megatron," Mikasa couldn't help but say. It was probably out of line, but she was curious. She had noticed the way Optimus wept over him, even after he unceremoniously ripped his chest opened and ripped out a purple shard from his corpse before blasting it to dust.

"If there is an afterlife for humans, I'm certain that Eren will be rewarded for his hard work and sacrifice," Optimus explained, "I have no doubts and concerns for his well-being. Megatron is a different case. He severed his connection to the Allspark that all Cybertronians possess when he put dark energon in his body. He belonged to Unicron. I pulled it out in one last attempt to save his spark, but...it is a pitiful attempt I do not know will have worked until millions of years later when my spark returns to the Allspark."

Optimus' shoulders slumped. "I will forever live in a perpetual state of fear and anxiety, wondering if my actions to save my brother were for naught."

"But weren't the two of you enemies longer than when you were brothers?" Mikasa asked bluntly.

Optimus couldn't help but chuckle at that. "I suppose family is complicated after all."

“Do you forgive him?” Mikasa asked.

“Hm, I suppose that is a tough question,” Optimus admitted, “I am glad that I was able to say my goodbyes to him and see that he has truly change. I just wish we had more time to discuss.”

Optimus felt his spark ache as he remembered Megatron’s sad smile, dark energon leaking from his mouth. “I wish we had more time.”

Mikasa look back at the statue, the sun now reflecting off the bronze and making it shine in the early morning, but it was already beginning to rust to green. “Eren said that to me too. He wanted more time to make up for how he treated me. Not intentionally but Eren always had a one track mind. Always looking ahead.”

A seagull flapped its wings landed on the wing of the statue. “I want to see him again.”

Optimus saw silent tears streaming down Mikasa's face, prompting him to kneel down to her. He scooped up the grieving woman in his servos before holding her close to his chest. Mikasa let out more wrecked sobs, covering her face with her hands. Optimus continued to let her cry, and the woman cried until the sun was now completely over the horizon.

"Sorry." Mikasa wiped her tears, feeling ashamed for crying in his hands.

"It is alright," Optimus reassured, "You have every right to shed tears."

"I think-!" Mikasa sniffed a little, "I think we should go and see the others. They said they would be at the camp."

"If that is what you wish." Mikasa yelped when Optimus stood up, with her still in his servos. He placed her on his shoulder, and the Prime began to walk away from the statue towards the camp. Unbeknownst to them, the seagull sitting on the statue flapped its wings before jumping off the statue and flying after them.

As Optimus continued to walk, the desert ground started to show signs of life, with patches of grass coming into view. As he walked closer, the grass connected together, until the desert was now a field of grass. When they arrived at the camp, Mikasa noticed someone giving instructions on how to build a new home. The structure was actually made of wood instead of fabric.

"Armin," Mikasa realized as Armin beckoned a few people to bring the wooden beam to a particular spot. "Armin!"

The man stopped and turned around to see Optimus lowering Mikasa to the ground. Armin bolted towards Mikasa, and Mikasa ran at him at full speed. They met in the middle and embraced each other with smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes. Armin let go of Mikasa and waved to Optimus with excitement, the Prime giving a polite wave back. Optimus heard a cry of joy behind him, and turned to see Hanji riding behind Levi's wheelchair. The captain holding on for dear life while Hanji was cackling with delight. They jumped off the back of his wheelchair and ran up to Optimus, hugging his servo when he kneeled down once again. Hanji then started rambling and pointing to their own eyepatch, saying that the two of them matched. Optimus turned his attention to Levi and saw the one-eyed Ackerman smile at him. Just a little bit.

The seagull landed atop the unfinished building structure, watching intently at the sight of the reunion before it. They laughed and chatted with one another, while the others in the camp were just excited to meet Optimus for the first time. The seagull wordlessly jumped off the wooden structure and flew off into the sky.

"Transform." It was a command, one Porco wasn't willing to follow. He glared up at the one eyed cyclops, standing off in the corner of the room. No emotion on its face, patiently waiting for Porco to follow his command.

Porco should have had more power. He held the strongest titan, and he tried to escape before using that power. But...this demon, Shockwave, had more resources. More weaponry, more durability, and that monstrous flying lizard. The predacon was able to fly through the destruction Porco had caused with his power and ripe him out of the nape of the neck...before violently tearing into him to the point of death. Shockwave had warned him never to try that again once he had recovered, and swore to feed him over to Gabi if he ever did.

Weakened, and now knowing that her life was in danger, Porco had to comply, but...he still held some defiance within him. Even as he lied down in this massive cave for Shockwave's experiments, he refused. He still wanted to fight. To live.

"Do what you've been told." Shockwave ordered again in that emotionless voice.

Porco grimaced at that. He was hungry, exhausted, but still. "No."

Porco yelled as the Predacon appeared from the shadows and pinned him to the ground, claws digging into his body. Porco screamed in pain as the creature roared in his face.

"Transform." Shockwave's command was more forceful.

"Fine! FINE!" Porco relented, "Just tell it to get off!"

"Terran, release," Shockwave ordered the beast.

Porco gasped as the Predacon let him go, blood pooling from his wounds. He could feel it slowly regenerating, but even so, he needed to force a transformation.

Optimus enjoying the rain in the Dark Timeline after his rescue.

Optimus could hear the multitude of droplets echoing throughout the neutral ship and hitting the roof of it. He could hear the roaring sounds of thunder outside as he continued resting on the berth. He was recovering from his injuries just fine, but he still struggled with some movements.

However, he was sick and tired of lying here, staring at nothing but a dark ceiling. That's what he's been doing for the past three months. He needed out. Optimus forced himself to stand up from the berth, happy to see that his joints did not ache like they used to. He wobbled out of the room he was in and down the hall. As he approached the entrance to the ship, the sounds of thunder and rain grew louder and louder. Desperation was in his step and he moved faster. He needed to see it.

He reached the exit and was met with the fantastical sight of the downpour of rain and the roar of the thunder. Optimus thought about sitting inside the ship and watching in order to stay dry, but he wanted to feel the cold, wet, sensation of rain on his armor.

Optimus took one step outside of the ship, his pede sinking into the mud. He could feel the cold rain on his leg, but...it excited him. There was no pain that came with the rain. No eroding or decaying of his armor. It was just a change in temperature. He took another step, and pushed himself forward until he was outside the ship. Optimus forced himself to stand up fully and raise his head towards the cloudy sky. He closed his optics in contentment and a warm smile appeared on his face. It felt so good to be under a different ceiling and feel a different sensation. He enjoyed being in a world as wonderful as this.

However, pain shot through his legs and he staggered forward. he found his footing once more, but exhaustion crept in. He wanted to collapse now. As he almost hit the ground, warm hands grabbed him and supported him upright. He turned his optics upwards, and with his poor eyesight, he saw Eren in titan form staring with concern.

"I am alright," Optimus reassured, his attention returning to the sky, "I still live."

Eren was ready to pull him inside, but Optimus tightened his grip on the titan's wrist.

"Just a little longer," Optimus requested, "I wish to experience a different sensation other than pain."

Eren seemed hesitant, but still granted Optimus that request. He still held the Prime upright. Eren noticed how relieved his mentor looked at the touch of rain and the sounds of thunder. He did truly want to bring him back inside to rest, but...Optimus looked so content. He had been through enough. He should be allowed to enjoy this moment to himself, even if he was also getting wet.

How about the first confrontation with Shockwave during Part 2: Optimus’ capture in the Dark Timeline.

"We need to take these people to the island," Hanji declared.

"What?! Are you insane?!" Magath demanded.

"If Shockwave sees no value in the island right now, then the island has to be the safest place to go," Hanji surmised, "We can get the people there, take the titan shifters with us and come up with a plan before shit goes sideways."

"It does seem like the better option," Lara agreed, "There's only so much we can do and everyone is living in fear of Shockwave coming with an army of titans."

"Even if we go with that plan, we only have one boat and thousands of people trapped in a cave!" Magath gestured to their cramped surroundings.

"There's a port nearby," Lara explained, "The dock is still intact and none of the ships and blimps have been targeted."

"Cybertronian transportation is faster than the blimps." Hanji thought over, "Shockwave would no doubt catch us if we don't plan this out right."

Eren and the others continued watching the discussion in front of them. They were worried about what was going to happen next, or even if whatever plan they would come up with would be successful. But they had to think of something. Staying in this cave like a bunch of sitting ducks would just lead to their deaths.

Sasha felt a chill rush up her spine as her eyes darted around the cave.

"Hey, Sasha, what's wrong?" Connie asked.

Eren froze when he suddenly heard...beeping. It was faint, but he heard a noise that went in and out of existence. "Do you hear that?"

Mikasa blinked in response before trying to listen to the sound that Eren was talking about. She raised her head to the ceiling and heard that same sound. "I hear it too. It's coming from up there."

Optimus' holoform noticed Mikasa pointing upward to the ceiling of the cave. Optimus' audio receptors ended up picking up on the noise, and realized that it was getting faster....and faster. His eyes snapped open in fear before turning his attention to-!

"LARA!" Optimus called out for her, but before she could respond, the ceiling exploded, and rocks and debris rained down on everyone. The Survey Corps ducked their heads and braced themselves for death, but Optimus had transformed into his bipedal mode and shielded many of them from the rocks falling down on them. Eren then looked over to see Lara screaming creating a cage like structure around everyone to prevent the whole cave from collapsing. Eren looked around and gasped in horror at the sight of dead civilians everywhere. Innocent men, women, and children were crushed to death by the rubble.

"Holy shit!" Sasha screamed in terror. Eren looked up and screamed at the sight of a teal and golden metal beast, with majestic golden wings and talons. It screeched at all of them, and Eren could see its chest beginning to glow. The light crawled up its chest to its mouth, and Eren gasped in terror at what was going to happen next, but Megatron had tackled the beast out of the way and took it up to the skies with him.

"Eren! Annie! Transform and get the humans out through the crater! Now!" Optimus barked orders at the both of them.

Eren and Annie find enough room for themselves before they bite down on their hands and transform into their titan bodies. Eren had climbed out of the cave first with Annie's assistance. Once Eren was out, he reached his hand out to Annie and pulled her out of the cave. Both titan shifters than reached out their hands to humans, and they started scooping them out a handful at a time with Optimus' assistance. Annie ends up scooping up Pieck and Zeke while Eren scoops up Reiner and sets them on the ground. The trio had quickly transformed into their titan formed before assisting with the evacuation of the humans.

Reiner had noticed Lara conjured up a titan form when holding up the structure of the cave and quickly reached his hand out to her to assist her out of the cave. Once Eren had confirmed the survivors were out, he quickly reached his hand out to Optimus. The Prime grasped it and Eren began to pull. When Optimus used his upper body weight to stay outside the cave, he had noticed something behind Eren, and the titan shifter saw Optimus' face contort into that of horror.

"Everyone get down!" Optimus ordered, but it was too late. A purple beam flew through the air and shot Annie's right arm clean off. Eren snapped his head back, and his body trembled at the sight before him.

An army of mutated titans filled with energon were lined up in front of everyone. They twitched, contorted, and howled in rage and fury. They all looked ready to attack but didn't. It's like they were waiting for something. However, Eren grew more fearful when he saw the true horror in all of this: a purple tank with a large cannon situated on top of it. Said tank began to lose its shape and transform into another titan, a titan with only one red optic to encompass his face. A titan with a massive cannon for an arm. A titan with no emotions to speak of.

This...this was Shockwave.

Megatron was distracted for only a moment. He had heard the sounds of the predacon crying out, forcing Shockwave and him to stop fighting. They had both watched the predacon falling from the sky before crashing into the ground, Wheeljack and Arcee being thrown off the creature. The insect like creature that Shockwave had managed to muster disappeared into steam from existence. Finally, all the titans and titan shifters had been turned back into humans.

He should be elated. The power of the titans was no more, but confusion clouded his mind. How did this happen? What was the cause? What-?!

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" Megatron felt searing, hot, white, pain at the sensation of blaster fire from a cannon tearing through his abdomen. Megatron could feel dark energon already leaking from his body as he cried out in pain and fell onto his back. He was distracted for only a moment, and he was now going to pay the price.

"How?! HOW DID YOU DO IT?!" Shockwave shouted at him, looming over his body. Megatron never expected to see this kind of emotion from Shockwave ever again, "You had nothing! No plan! No proper tools! I had everything! I had all the proper tools and schematics! Yet you ended the power of the titans! How?!"

Megatron winced as his optics scanned the battlefield. Shockwave had a point. They had no real plan besides getting Eren and Zeke back. They were still in the dark about how the power of the titan operated. How did that power disappear in the first place? Through the steam and the panic and confusion of the humans running around, Megatron spotted it. He spotted the sight of Mikasa on her knees, holding something to her chest with a look of sorrow in her eyes. Tears streamed down her face before she shut her eyes. Megatron's optics realized that in her grasp...

...was Eren's decapitated head. His head was cut clean from his body. Eren's eyes were closed, and he could see just a small expression of peace. The body of the now dead titan shifter was slowly turning to dust, but he was surprised to see that the head still remained. Megatron...felt bitterness. He felt an ache. He felt loss. But...the sight of Mikasa grieving over Eren could only mean one thing. And that one thing...oh Primus that one thing was the most ironic and twisted joke of all.

Megatron couldn't help it; he started laughing bitterly, and that laughing invoked Shockwave's ire.

"What's so amusing?!" Shockwave demanded.

"Love," Megatron answered him with the biggest bitter grin he could muster, "It was love. The most illogical, unreasonable, emotion out there, that helped us defeat you."

If Shockwave wasn't angry before, he was definitely in a state of fury right now. Megatron prepared for death as Shockwave charged his cannon once more, but the former warlord let out a quiet gasp as Optimus decapitated the mad scientist from behind. Optimus didn't even bother to check the kill or wait until the body hit the ground. After he made his killing blow, he ran towards Megatron.

"Megatron!" Optimus cried out as he kneeled down and examined his wounds. Optimus was horrified. His abdomen was torn to shreds! Dark energon was leaking out of him! He was certain Megatron's spine was destroyed!

"Stay awake! Stay with me! I'm going to get you help! I-!" Optimus scanned the battlefield, but...he couldn't think of anything. The neutral ship didn't prepare a groundbridge in time, and they would have to review Shockwave's schematics before making a jump. Optimus couldn't carry Megatron on his own; he was already weak from his own fight! Wheeljack and Arcee were trying to support each other! They couldn't drag him onto the Jackhammer without causing more damage to his body! And all the titan shifters have just lost their powers! Where was Eren?! Why was Armin running to Mikasa in distress?! What could he do?! What was he supposed to do?!

"I need a medic!" Optimus cried out in desperation, "Please!"

"Optimus, don't bother," Megatron told him weakly, coughing up energon in the process, "Who would be willing to save someone as worthless as me?"

"Megatron you're not worthless! You helped stop Shockwave-!"

"Who caused him to be like this?" Megatron asked rhetorically, "Optimus...it's too late for me. Leave me be. The others...Eren is-!"

"Let me fix this, brother please!" Optimus begged.

Megatron was surprised at Optimus' plea and smiled sadly. "The one thing I stayed on this world for was you. For your acceptance and forgiveness. But this world has changed me, and now..."

Megatron could still feel the loss of dark energon from his body continue. His internal systems were screaming at him, but he ignored it. "All I've done is just hurt you with my selfishness all over again."

Optimus hated how his instincts were telling him of the now hopeless situation. There was too much energon loss. He was going to die, and...

"I've been selfish as well," Optimus confessed, "I never killed you...because I hoped...you would come to your senses...and we could go back to Maccadam's like we used to. And that hope, that selfishness that slowly died over time, never truly went away, and that got many others killed."

"...And I took advantage of that kindness," Megatron relented, "My mistakes are not your fault."

Optimus blinked in surprise as he felt lubricant come out of his optics and tears stream down his faceplates.

"They never were," Megatron reassured.

"Megatron." Optimus grabbed his clawed and bloodied servo with both of his, "I just got you back. Please. Please don't leave me brother. Please."

"It's not a choice I can give." Megatron felt his words beginning to slur. He felt lubricant slip out of his optics as his vision began to fade. He had no idea what was going to happen. He was truly scared. He was going to die like this. He didn't want to die now, but...there was no choice.

"Thank...you...bro...th..." Optimus gasped in horror when he felt Megatron's body go limp. His servo slipped out of his grasp and fell limply on the floor. Optimus looked to Megatron's faceplates, but the life was gone. There were remnants of lubricant around the corner of his now lifeless optics. But the former warlord...looked so at peace.

"Megatron! Megatron wake up! Please wake up! Megatron!" Optimus screamed at Megatron. Everyone else who was still alive converged onto the scene before them. Wheeljack and Arcee were supporting each other while Hanji was helping Levi stand on his feet. The Ackerman was bloodied and bruised everywhere, the extent of his injuries unknown. Even though Hanji was free from the being a pure titan, the Commander's right eye had not healed at all.

"Chief," Wheeljack mumbled.

"Megatron, wake up!" Optimus slammed his fist into Megatron's chest, but noticed something dreadful. His chest was still glowing purple. Megatron was dead...and Unicron might still have him. No! NO! Unicron was not going to keep him! Not while his still functioned! Optimus pulled out his sword and rammed it into Megatron's chest, shocking everyone. The sword didn’t pierced all the way through Megatron’s armor, so he tried again and again.

“Prime! Prime what the fuck are you doing?! Stop!” Levi screamed at him. But the Titan refused. Optimus continued to cut through Megatron’s armor until the cut was large enough. He used his servos and pulled apart the armor, revealing Megatron’s spark and the dark energon shard. Optimus roared as he ripped the dark energon shard from Megatron’s spark . He threw the crushed object aside before taking out his blaster and firing at it until it turned to dust.

Optimus looked back at Megatron’s corpse, hoping the damn thing would restart, but…it was damaged beyond repair now. Megatron was gone from him. He lost his brother, and he could do nothing else for him now.

Optimus let his tears flow freely as he cried out in sorrow. He sobbed over Megatron’s tattered chest, completely inconsolable. And the others could only watch the Prime’s mental breakdown.

“Why…why would he do that?” Sasha asked Hanji.

“…To save Megatron’s soul,” Hanji realized.

‘This world is cruel,’ Mikasa thought as Optimus was wrecked with grief. She still cradled Eren’s head to her chest. She wasn’t sure…how Optimus would react to hearing both of them dead. She didn’t have the courage to stay for that. She…she wanted to go home.

Armin still cried next to Mikasa when the Ackerman stood up. “M-Mikasa?”

“I’m going to take Eren home,” Mikasa informed him. “There should still be an active port somewhere.”

“Where…where will you bury him?” Armin asked.

“At the spot he loved to nap under,” Mikasa answered as she walked away from him into the fog, un clipping her 3D gear in the process. She didn’t need it anymore.

“Yeah…he’d love that.” She smiled at Armin’s last words to her before noticing someone in front of her. A woman with blonde hair and gray eyes and a white dress, staring act her with indifference and remorse. She had nothing to say to her. She had no connection with the woman. As Mikasa walked past her-!

Mikasa blinked and glanced back, but no one was there. She was gone.

I really loved the Dark Timeline and wondered, how would Paradis and the world look like decades later if the world-ending catastrophe was Shockwave's invasion instead of Eren's Rumbling. It would be cool to think of how Shockwave replaces Eldians as the "Devil on the Earth" or how Paradis's foreign relations evolve.

This is actually a really interesting ask.

So the world would obviously be damaged by Shockwave's actions. The Decepticon was experimenting on Eldians, turning them into titans, and unleashing them on unsuspecting towns in order to test their effectiveness and efficiency, leaving many towns destroyed and drastically reducing the population.

Meanwhile for many outsiders, Paradis became a safe haven to escape Shockwave's carnage. The devils that they had so greatly vilified, welcomed them into their home, granted them food and shelter, protected them from Shockwave's demented plans. Shockwave does unleash an attack on the island later using Porco as a weapon, and many civilians lives were lost in that moment before Eren willingly gives himself up.

And it is the Survey Corps, the Warriors, the Autobots, and Megatron who launch one final attack that ends the power of the titans once and for all. Many people who were transported to the island are finally able to return home, or what's left of it, and Paradis continues to offer their services in order to build alliances, which many that are left on the mainland are willing to do. When a true danger came on their doorstep, Eldians proved to be reliable allies and true friends. And with the power of the titans no longer existing, there was no longer fear. Trust started to bloom.

The remaining Survey Corps, Warriors, Arcee, Wheeljack, and Optimus are lauded as heroes. Even though Optimus and Mikasa are the ones who killed Shockwave and ended the power of the titan respectively, the credit ultimately fell on both Eren and Megatron. Their sacrifice allowed humanity to survive and for the power of the titans to finally come to an end. At least that is the tale that Armin is spinning. Optimus and Mikasa effectively do not want to be involved on the political stage, and after what they had been through, none of the survivors could blame them.

Peace treaties still have to be drawn up, and many portions of what remained of Marley became up for grabs, especially for those that had their lands stolen from Marley in the first place. The country that still manages to remain intact the most is the nation of Hizuru. The nation had learned to stand on its own after the initial fall of the Eldian Empire and were able to come up with contingency plans that resulted in the least amount of lives lost, although a lot of damage was still done to the country and they still had to rebuild.

The survivors of the final battle get to continue living their lives in peace, without any fear of retaliation that would have existed if the Rumbling was ever activated. There is still much to rebuild, but Wheeljack and Arcee are able to contact Cybertron, and the other Autobots and humans from Earth are able to provide their assistance in reconstruction.

Over time, the Autobots ultimately return to Cybertron and the humans return to Earth, leaving the AOT world to develop on its own. The world of AOT twists the actual events of the story over time, idolizing many of the people that had played a role in freeing their world from Shockwave and the reign of the titans. Years later, the world is much more technologically advanced with the assistance provided by Cybertron and Earth. The teen from the ending of Attack on Titan is walking along town square with a dog, staring up at the statue meant to depict and praise Eren and Megatron for their sacrifice. Meanwhile, off in the distance, Optimus has returned to the AOT world, traveling to see how the world he had grown to care for survived in his absence.

(There's still a lot that can go into this, but it would require a lot of thought, since we were never given the full run down of what the outside world looked like since Isayama really focused on the workings of Marley.)
