Color wheel challenge but its just the characters I'm willing to kin

My favorite blend during Monday's color blending class was a light cyan top with an orange roving. Spun up in yarn, it reminded me of cheap turquoise, greenish with brown rust spots. So I've been circling the idea all week, and finally tried to do something similar. I don't have a exact match of fiber, so I tried with the orange top (with viscose tweed bits) and some light blue roving (complete unknown from a thrift shop).

Umm.. the base color in the singles reads as grey to me. Not what I expected it all.

"Lightningcloud, focus!" the patrol leader snapped.

"Sorry!" Lightningcloud hurried to catch up with everycat else.

Little did he know somecat was watching him from a bush. The patrol continued on resetting the mark of the border, and hunting one or two mice.

Lightningcloud ended up getting distracted again, but didn't get called back this time. The shadow in the bushes made her move.

"Psst! Lightningcloud!" she hissed.

The gray spotted tom jumped at the familiar voice and Coppersong slid out from the bush.

"There you are," the tom purred. "Almost missed the time again. I was getting worried."

"It's not my fault you give terrible instructions," Coppersong sat down and raised a paw to groom it. "You're gonna be a terrible mentor if you ever get an apprentice."

"Really? Well if I am, then so are you," Lightningcloud growled playfully.

"Me?" she asked incredulously. "How? I am way more sophisticated than you, you know."

"Says the most reckless one here," he teased.

"Lightningcloud, who are you talking to?" a cat from his patrol demanded, beginning to come back.

The two widened their eyes and sprinted away before the cat could reach them.
